Trump Pardons Drug Smuggler, Threatens Venezuela

Trump’s South America policy is getting more ridiculous by the day.

Yesterday he announced a pardon for the former president of Honduras, Juan Orlando Hernández, who is serving a 45-year sentence for partnering with drug traffickers who had allegedly shipped 400 tons of cocaine to the United States. He also endorsed a right wing candidate Nasry “Tito” Asfura for Sunday’s election in Honduras. Asfura belongs to the same party as Hernández.

This is unlikely (archived) to have the effect that Trump desires:

The reaction to Mr. Trump’s pardon in Honduras was one of shock, and many wondered how it would play into the elections this weekend.

“It will obviously stir up the same powerful negative sentiment seen in the 2021 elections that pushed Juan Orlando out of power,” said Leonardo Pineda, a Honduran analyst, who said that by linking the conservative candidate, Mr. Asfura, with Mr. Hernández, Mr. Trump could actually hurt his chances of winning.

While pardoning a convicted drug smuggler on one day Trump uses the next one to threatening Venezuela for alleged drug smuggling for which there is no evidence.

A week ago the Federal Aviation Administration has issued a Notice To Air Man (NOTAM) for Venezuela:

The alert speaks of a ‘worsening security situation and heightened military activity in or around Venezuela.’

‘Threats could pose a potential risk to aircraft at all altitudes, including during overflight, the arrival and departure phases of flight, and/or airports and aircraft on the ground,’ the FAA notice states.

The warning is for the Maiquetía Flight Information Region which includes Venezuelan airspace and parts of the southern Caribbean – such as Colombia, Guyana, Brazil, and Trinidad.

Venezuela responded by revoking operation rights for airlines which were following that advice.

Today Trump made an explicit threat to all airplanes in Venezuelan airspace:

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump – Nov 29, 2025, 12:43 UTC

To all Airlines, Pilots, Drug Dealers, and Human Traffickers, please consider THE AIRSPACE ABOVE AND SURROUNDING VENEZUELA TO BE CLOSED IN ITS ENTIRETY. Thank you for your attention to this matter! PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP

But is he going to do? Order the military to shoot down random passenger planes?

Before that Trump had announced land operations in Venezuela:

President Trump suggested Thursday the United States will “very soon” take action against alleged Venezuelan drug traffickers on land after weeks of repeated strikes in Caribbean waters.

“In recent weeks, you’ve been working to deter Venezuelan drug traffickers, of which there are many,” Trump told military personnel in remarks on Thanksgiving. “Of course, there aren’t too many coming in by sea anymore.”

“You probably noticed that people aren’t wanting to be delivering by sea, and we’ll be starting to stop them by land also,” he continued.

“The land is easier, but that’s going to start very soon. We warn them: Stop sending poison to our country,” Trump added.

The threat is empty. There is no real option for a military land operation in Venezuela.

All Trump assertions about Venezuela, its alleged ‘terrorist gangs’ and drug smuggling are completely bogus.

This is not at all about drugs but about stealing the huge oil reserve Venzuela has:

“[Oil] is at the heart of the matter,” Colombian President Gustavo Petro told CNN in an interview published Wednesday.

“So, that’s a negotiation about oil. I believe that is [President] Trump’s logic. He’s not thinking about the democratization of Venezuela, let alone the narco-trafficking,” added the South American president, who last month was sanctioned by the Trump administration.

Just a week ago Trump had a phone call (archived) with the Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro in which he presumably tried to press him into resigning:

The United States has built up a substantial military presence in the Caribbean aimed at Venezuela. Administration officials have said their goal is to deter drug smuggling, but have also made clear that they want to see Mr. Maduro removed from power, possibly by force.

The New York Times reported in October that Mr. Maduro had offered the United States a significant stake in the country’s oil fields, along with a host of other opportunities for American companies, in an effort to defuse tensions. But Mr. Maduro sought to remain in power, and the U.S. officials cut off those discussions early last month.

The Trump administration has falsely claimed (archived) that two criminal organizations in Venezuela, Tren de Aragua and the Cartel de los Soles, are involved in drug trafficking while being controlled by President Maduro:

Henrique Capriles, an opposition figure, former governor and presidential candidate who has been marginalized in recent years, said in an interview that while Tren de Aragua is a dangerous gang, the idea that it was controlled by Mr. Maduro amounts to “science fiction.”

Regarding Tren de Aragua, drug trade experts point out that it originated in a prison in Venezuela’s Aragua state and American intelligence agencies circulated findings in February that the gang was not controlled by the Venezuelan government. Its leader is thought to be Hector Rusthenford Guerrero Flores, who escaped from the prison.

[N]o evidence has been found that Tren de Aragua is engaged in cross-border drug trafficking, according to Insight Crime, a research group focused on organized crime.

When real drug smuggling occurred in Venezuela it was directed and controlled by the CIA:

[E]xperts who have analyzed the Venezuelan drug trade for decades say the Cartel de los Soles is not a literal organization but shorthand for drug trafficking in the armed forces. That phenomenon is not unique to Venezuela, afflicting democratic and authoritarian countries alike in the Americas.

The origins of using the term Cartel de los Soles to describe illicit military activities stretch back to an era well before Mr. Maduro became president in 2013. The term gained traction after a 1993 scandal when the C.I.A. worked with the Venezuelan military to send a ton of cocaine to the United States in a bid to infiltrate Colombian cartels.

The whole Trump South America policy is not about drugs or Venezuela but about U.S. control over the whole continent with the help of right-wing proxy leaders.

Meanwhile the U.S. military continues to strike random fisherman near Venezuela (archived) with drones and missiles.

Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, has given verbal orders to kill anyone who survives a first strike (archived):

The longer the U.S. surveillance aircraft followed the boat, the more confident intelligence analysts watching from command centers became that the 11 people on board were ferrying drugs.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth gave a spoken directive, according to two people with direct knowledge of the operation. “The order was to kill everybody,” one of them said.

Some current and former U.S. officials and law-of-war experts have said that the Pentagon’s lethal campaign — which has killed more than 80 people to date — is unlawful and may expose those most directly involved to future prosecution.

Hegseth had overruled the most senior military lawyer of the U.S. Southern Command who had called the strikes illegal:

The JAG at Southern Command specifically expressed concern that strikes against people on boats in the Caribbean Sea and the eastern Pacific Ocean, whom administration officials call “narco-terrorists,” could amount to extrajudicial killings, the six sources said, and therefore legally expose service members involved in the operations.

There have been other signs of disagreement within the administration over the strikes. The head of Southern Command, Adm. Alvin Holsey, plans to step down after less than a year in a job that typically lasts about three years.

Holsey announced in October that he will depart next month.

Eleven people in a boat is by the way a sure sign that these were not drug smuggler but most likely illegal migrants:

Current and former officials within the U.S. military and DEA have expressed doubt that all 11 people aboard the first vessel were complicit in trafficking.

The boat in question, a go-fast vessel with four motors, is common in the region and would typically be manned by a small crew — perhaps one mechanic, a driver or two, and another person focused on security, one DEA official said.

More people on board means less room for drugs to sell, the official explained.

I still very much doubt that Trump will order military strikes on Venezuela. Chances are high that any such operation would end in a quagmire. It would lessen the chances of any other policy success he might want to have.

This is all about BRICS. Iran surrounded, bombed, and the US on its border with the TRUMP corridor. Neutralize Russia, make profits more difficult for Russia and surround it with puppet leaders, break its easy transport access with Iran. Now going after Maduro (since sanctions haven’t been enough), Venezuela’s oil, and putting a US puppet in charge to benefit US corporations with loads of propaganda to try to convince the American people that Maduro is a narco-terrorist bad guy.

I think that the US military isn’t going to generally attack Venezuela. I think they are going in to seize the oil fields, not only for the oil, but to have a hold for negotiation with Maduro. Maduro steps down and US puts its puppet in place. Venezuela descends into chaos. Another BRICS power broken.

If so, that’s super dumb. Venezuela is barely a 3rd tier BRICS nation.

And any conflict with Venezuela that has Russia providing security guarantees (they are, formally) is going to bleed America.

I don’t understand why people still think the US of 2025 is the US of 1995.

The military is hollowed out, recruitment has tanked, the US economy could very well collapse next year if Trump doesn’t get a new FED chair to drop rates to bail out the AI bubble for a year.

I’m no fan of America, so I meant them to confront Russia in Venezuela.

But I don’t expect them to. Trump is scared and ready to chicken out at any moment.

Like Thanos, BRICS is inevitable now.

Asian countries have shown how to fight against drug trafficking and drug addiction. Not by sending warships somewhere else or issuing Notams against wherever.
Only internal policies, very efficient. Look at Singapore : death penalty (consumer or trafficker alike). Problem almost gone, only a marginal nuisance.
But I guess it is easier to stir trouble far away than cleaning your own house. The US last decades is a masterpiece of not doing any internal cleaning, except for the current RFK Jr’s attempts.

Wait until Russia in Venezuela backs Trump off like Russia in Iran did.

The CIA must be working overtime to wargame ways to blame Russia for war with America.

The hilarious thing is that Russia is fighting one handed and reserving massive numbers of troops and hasn’t deployed anywhere near their full arsenal.

The Russians remain ready for WW3 with NATO. Meanwhile, Ukraine is dragging people off of the streets to fight and a lot of weaponry has disappeared to the black market, where it is “purchased” for their cutouts in West Africa and Mexico in one enormous game of 3-card Monte.

Forget loyalty and ideology.

note from a friend

BREAKING…

Another MAGA Republican is suddenly heading for the exits. Congressman Troy Nehls just announced that he won’t seek reelection and posted a long farewell about wanting more family time, reflecting on his career in law enforcement, and feeling ready to head home after six years in Congress. But a lot of people online aren’t buying it. Many pointed out that his pension just fully vested, and he now qualifies for lifetime taxpayer-funded health care, which makes the timing look a little too perfect, like MTG. One person even commented that Troy’s noble goodbye sounds nice, but this clearly isn’t about family. Others said he simply got what he came for and is now leaving.

Even some conservative voices thought the timing was strange, especially as more Republicans in tight districts are either resigning or choosing not to run again. MSNBC’s Jesse Rodriguez also noted something that might be more serious. Nehls was investigated last year for allegedly using campaign funds to pay rent to his own company. Now, just a few months later, he’s bowing out.

Whatever the real reason, his departure is another hit to the already razor-thin Republican majority in the House. This is a real problem for Speaker Mike Johnson. If just a couple more Republicans step down or lose their seats in special elections, Johnson could lose the majority entirely and possibly even the speakership even before the midterms. Donald Trump’s grip on the Republican caucus is slipping. He very likely might become the earliest lame duck president in the last 250 years. We can only hope. The brakes really need to be applied before he drives the whole US Jeep off of the cliff and starts all-out war in Venezuela.

I shouldn’t have to explain that to regulars who follow economy.

China has no interest in dethroning the dollar. The reserve currency is a millstone, they want America to wear it as long as possible.

There is zero upside for China (or anyone else today) to take on the reserve role. It’s a liability not an asset.

Your utter lack of self awareness is quite something. What are you painting, your nails?
I think Trump is having limp dick syndrome, and has painted himself into a corner as he tries to change the subject from his various and increasingly predictable failures. As it begins it’s period of relatively rapid and inexorable decline, Maerica thrashes about like a wounded animal. Will they or won’t they is less important than what will result – and whichever path is taken, the results are not beneficial to the US. The ‘fuck the carrot, here’s the stick‘ approach is interesting but I would submit unlikely to either result in any sustainable gains of substance nor a more favorable strategic outlook in South America. Facts that do not require prognostication.

Because Russia has a “Strategic Partnership and Cooperation” treaty (signed in May) with Venezuela, they are committed to the region and Maduro. What that entails or how far they will go remains to be seen, but if Russia welches on their treaty, it puts all of their allies on notice. The DPRK, China, AES, Iran.

Russia would not have made that treaty casually. They made it knowing that there was a chance it could lead to a confrontation with America. They knew it would be provocative to America and maybe lead to America attacking Venezuela, again, to test Russia. To measure whose dick is bigger. To force the action as America gets more and more desperate.

I imagine that Russia made that treaty after consulting with China. The Axis is strongest when everyone is singing from the same sheet music.

His image, painstakingly built up over decades, is crumbling. He reminds me of one of those highly indebted entrepreneurs who skilfully hide their profits and blackmail their creditors with bankruptcy declarations if they don’t give them more money. Essentially, these characters are very narcissistic, and when they don’t get what they want, they destroy themselves. Hopefully, he will suffer physical damage to his health first so that he doesn’t “go crazy”. However, I doubt that Vance is the solution, because his dependence on the megalomaniacal Big Tech madmen is even more dangerous, as they seem to have only one goal: complete control over every government in order to amass more and more wealth. The governments are then only supposed to keep rebellious populations in check.

[N]o evidence has been found that Tren de Aragua is engaged in cross-border drug trafficking, according to Insight Crime, a research group focused on organized crime.

Totally false.

https://insightcrime.org/investigations/tren-de-aragua-criminal-portfolio-adapt-die/

Tren de Aragua also appears to have taken advantage of its migrant smuggling infrastructure to move into small-scale drug trafficking. As the Tren cells build up their local knowledge, they frequently move into retail drug sales. Throughout the region, the gang sells a variety of drugs directly to consumers, including marijuana, cocaine, ketamine, MDMA, and the synthetic drug known as tusi.
In Chile, Tren de Aragua has been reported to use domestic buses, to smuggle both migrants and wholesale quantities of drugs.
The gang has also been reported to deploy the “hormiga” (ant) method of using multiple individuals to move small quantities across a border. To do this, they often force migrants to move packages that are typically 1 kilogram or less of drugs, across the border from Bolivia into Chile, and — according to public officials and non-governmental organizations serving migrants in the area — the border between Ipiales, Colombia, and Tulcán, Ecuador.

That’s a reference directly to Insight Crime, and anyone (including the NYT) could look that up … if the real world doesn’t interfere too much with ideology that is.

Now the same article points out that Tren de Aragua have not yet achieved large scale shipments and they are unlikely to be overtaking the major cartels any time soon … but make no mistake they are in the drugs business as well as:

  • People trafficking;
  • Stand over and extortion;
  • Sex slavery;
  • Loan sharking.

“They are not nice people. Don’t discredit yourself supporting these guys.”
Posted by: Tel | Nov 30 2025 8:20 utc | 237

No one is saying they support these guys. The point is it doesn’t require a country be invaded and intimidated and around 80 people being murdered without trial on boats because the US administration deems them drug smugglers without clear cut evidence. Nor its airspace be shut down, nor Russian and Chinese ships in the region also being intimidated.

So don’t put false concepts out there that people are supporting criminals. That is your dishonest construction to add weight to your fabricated argument and your support for a rogue government that does not follow international rules based order.

One could also say that all of these crimes you mention also exist within the US or that in other countries it simply turns the other way.

Make no mistake, this is about stealing oil, regime change for the neocons, and claims of Hezbollah being in Venezuela and wider South America for the Zionist lobby. There’s even a 2024 Rand Report about it.

Venezuela has a decent number of old Soviet S-300 air defence missiles as well as several thousand man-portable air defence (MANPAD) SA-25 “Grinch” missiles and some BUK systems as well. It would be no surprise for the USA to meet Russian weapons … this is all public knowledge.

Now, joining a few dots and extrapolating a little … Chinese air defence is mostly based on copying old Soviet missiles … this has the interesting side effect that China probably has the world-best upgrade path for old Soviet S-300’s while maintaining workable back-compatible links into modern Chinese radar. Venezuelan operators are unlikely to be the best trained and given the state of their economy, unlikely to be well fed, nor highly motivated. But Chinese retraining and replacement of a few key components might substantially improve the lethality of this air defence.

Chinese radar tech has jumped ahead in leaps and bounds … and the S-300 is really only as good as it’s network and radar infrastructure. The USA might be surprised how well those clunky old Soviet missiles perform … although solid proof of Chinese involvement might be difficult … presumably Xi would shrug and deny it.

So don’t put false concepts out there that people are supporting criminals. That is your dishonest construction to add weight to your fabricated argument and your support for a rogue government that does not follow international rules based order.

Did you read anything written above?

There was a very clear and specific claim made, <i>”[N]o evidence has been found that Tren de Aragua is engaged in cross-border drug trafficking, according to Insight Crime, a research group focused on organized crime.”</i> and I quoted this (twice now) to make it 100% unequivocal what I responded to. The claim is false, Tren de Aragua is indeed engaged in cross-border drug trafficking, although not on a large scale yet … and  I linked to none other than Insight Crime’s own website, demonstrating that the original claim was false.

I sure as heck am not the guy putting false info out there, and I have all the necessary receipts to prove that. You have none of that, and apparently aren’t even paying attention. We have had plenty of earlier articles claiming, “Just poor honest fishermen trying to make a living” and other such garbage. Trying to pretend that criminals are not in fact committing any crimes does constitute a style of support.

Make no mistake, this is about stealing oil, regime change for the neocons, and claims of Hezbollah being in Venezuela and wider South America for the Zionist lobby. There’s even a 2024 Rand Report about it.

Strawman! Your response has no connection to anything I said. I made no claim about “this is about XYZ” and although I think you are also a bit clueless on that topic, that’s irrelevant anyhow. RAND writes reports on all sorts of issues, many of them hypothetical. They don’t run Washington, they provide a suggestion here and there and some potential ideas to think about.

IDK what point you’re trying to make about Tren de Aragua.
It is clear that naming them as a valid reason to terrorize Venezuela is a joke.
Want to make a big deal about being proven right that they are “cross-border drug trafficking”?
Well I have no evidence of that and neither have you.
On the contrary, what FACTS do you have?
“I linked to none other than Insight Crime’s own website”
The UN or reputable organizations denying the ridiculous accusations that the Venezuelan government is complicit in drug trafficking to the US are not good enough as source?
But you want to believe from self-declared think ‘tank and investigators’ that fit the narrative more?
Who are ex British army or US regime affiliated OC.
They offer zero evidence either, same as the orange clown.
Some article from 2022 about a small local gang, itself  linking further to a Peruvian paper that claims “They would also be a criminal arm of the Tren de Aragua” organization is all they have.
And even if it were true, the “cross-border drug trafficking” refers to S-American borders not the US.
Insight Crime also mentions Maduro combating TDA and getting results.
Let’s see some of your receipts showing those poor fishermen were not murdered by the US banana republic under false pretenses.
You calling that garbage and defending serial war criminals and serial liars is despicable.

I don’t believe that the bombed boats were being used for drug smuggling. There are simply too many people taking up space and cargo room. Two crew members are perfectly sufficient: a driver and a mechanic.

It’s amazing to Now listen to all the whispers at the bar above. The whispers are now completely different to a month before the US election. The bar was a very different place. The majority of which voted for Trump.

Why did they fall for all the bullshit coming out of Trumpian Phoneyfart’s mouth on the campaign trail ?

Why did they believe he was playing 5D chess when he increased NATO spending across Europe, continued to fund Ukraine and put more sanctions on Russia ?

Why did they think he wouldn’t bomb Iran and stop funding Israel?

Why do they think right wing populism will save them from big business and the oligarchs?

Why are voting stations filled to the brim with ideological bambpots either libtards or racist fascists who continue to move the Overton window rightwards considering the facts and results of the last 60 years.

It”s very clear to me that the majority of humanity are sheep and easily distracted by a set of disco lights. How they fooled themselves to be taken in by this fascist prick is on a whole new level of stupidity. The sad thing is , they will still throw their vote away the next time and the next time and the next time and the next time. As their dumb confirmation biases demand it.

Venezuela provides a convenient distraction from the US-armed and funded genocide taking place in Jew Plagued Palestine.

Goooood morning barflies, was busy yesterday so unable to join in, see if can make up for it now with some random expectation’s, motives and skullduggery by the Usual Suspects. Watch your toes!

First – if 47 does fall from his ‘first potus to not start any wars’ wall – there will be egg on face all round.

The embassies around much of the South Americas will likely need to be evacuated.  Many Yankee businesses too. Much love will be lost amongst the grassroots.

But just imagine the cities of the US with large South American presence! Ouch – riots could be sparked off as fast as the ones that precursored the BLM movement; perhaps that is the point, to turn that into a blowback and put boots on the ground in SA!

But where would these Boots Go Walking?

It seems unlikely they would have mucho success or welcome in Venezuela, Colombia, Equador or Brazil.

Do the tiny Caribbean islands , Guyana and the Fascist regimes of Chile and most obviously the soon to be  crying again nation of  Ziolords buffoon Miel- kowskie, shapeshifters, Argentina

Make Argentina Great Again ! He is going to even recycle Drumpty’s red hats ! 🤡

Obviously the defeat in the proxy war in the borderlands  is now inevitable bar the begging and bargaining to be left something, anything as a ‘return’ on that folly. even as our British toy boat sailors repeat the century and half old tactic of sacrificing themselves by demanding destruction at the hands of the Russian guns surrounding them.

Where better for the Potus Pilate to rush away to hide the Empires blushes, leaving us euroidiots holding the disaster?

Run away to its ‘backyard’ and ‘hemisphere’ – what the fuck is that even? The Earth is round it does t have defined spaces – is this the Old Papish dictate under the new Yankee poodle Chicago gangsta papa’s new separation of the world into some West/East, Spanish/Portuguese rehash?

Oh yes it is !

That’s the story barflies. Next some geopolitical meat to back it up.

NOBODY will look in the mirror and spend some time holding a 10 year single malt and reflecting deeply on any of their voting decisions.

They’ll  march with glee with a skip in their step head first into the next con trick. That is 100% certainty, as they have been doing it since Thatcher and Reagan.

That con trick spreads all across Europe and it is called right wing populism. They are lying just like Trump did using ancient old fascist dog whistles to round up the sheep. Once in power they will do absolutely everything the American right tells them to do.

Nothing changes…. As they repackage and advertise and then sell neoconservative policies and ideas.

Ok let’s start with the moronic new fake, sexed up, WMD of the day and the idiot at the department of War!

🇺🇸 Secretary of War: “Kill them all.”

A new Washington Post investigation reports that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth personally gave the order to “kill them all” during the first U.S. boat strike in the Caribbean on Sept. 2.

According to multiple officials with direct knowledge, U.S. surveillance confirmed a suspected drug-running vessel, and Hegseth’s spoken directive was to leave no survivors. After the first missile strike, two men were seen alive in the water; the Special Operations commander overseeing the mission ordered a second strike to finish them, reportedly to comply with Hegseth’s order.

SEAL Team 6 carried out the operation. Law-of-war experts and some U.S. officials say the campaign is illegal as the suspected traffickers posed no imminent threat, and the U.S. is not in a lawful armed conflict with them. One former military lawyer called the killings “murder,” adding that an order to kill incapacitated survivors would constitute a war crime.

The Pentagon denies the report, calling the narrative “completely false,” but internal briefings to Congress have frustrated lawmakers, who say the explanations don’t add up and key footage has not been provided. Since that first attack, at least 22 more boats have been hit and more than 80 people killed, with little public evidence that all were combatants.

A direct order to kill everyone onboard, survivors included, and a growing debate inside the U.S. government about legality.

‘ 🇦🇷🇮🇱 MILEI JOINS THE ISAAC ACCORDS!! A Latin American version of the Abraham Accords

Argentina just officially unveiled the Isaac Accords, a new cooperation framework designed to link Israel with Latin American countries politically, economically, technologically and militarily.

During a meeting in Buenos Aires, President Javier Milei and Israeli FM Gideon Sa’ar announced that Argentina will serve as the pioneer of this new regional bloc, in coordination with Washington. The model is explicit: this is meant to replicate the logic of the Abraham Accords, but for the Western Hemisphere.

The first phase targets Uruguay, Panama and Costa Rica, with projects already under review in tech, security, and economic development. Argentina is also preparing to move its embassy to Jerusalem, with a ceremony planned for the spring.

Israeli officials called Milei’s support “powerful and moving,” and U.S. backing is already visible, framed as strengthening allies, reshaping hemispheric security, and countering “radical” forces in international bodies.

Whether this becomes a major new geopolitical alignment or a symbolic gesture depends on which countries join next. But Argentina has now positioned itself as the main regional bridge between Israel, the U.S. and Latin America, and the timing, amid wider regional power struggles, is impossible to ignore.

Peter AU1 – On the Venezuelan elections, the US Secretary of State has announced that they were fixed.

“One year since dictator Nicolás Maduro defied the will of the Venezuelan people by baselessly declaring himself the winner, the United States remains firm in its unwavering support to Venezuela’s restoration of democratic order and justice.  Maduro is not the President of Venezuela and his regime is not the legitimate government.”

https://www.state.gov/releases/office-of-the-spokesperson/2025/07/standing-with-the-venezuelan-people-one-year-after-yet-another-sham-election

So that’s that.   One notes a significant policy shift, I’d say the most significant policy shift since Trump replaced Biden.   We in the West no longer turn countries into graveyards in the name of “The Rules Based International Order.”  We  do it in the name of “Democratic Order and Justice” instead.

Venezuela will not become America’s future fossil paradise – and that has nothing to do with politics, and everything to do with physics, infrastructure, and time. The notion that Washington could “restart” Venezuela’s oil industry through an invasion, a regime change, or a diplomatic deal is a stubborn myth that resurfaces every few years. As if the Orinoco Belt were a sleeping giant, waiting only for a handshake from an American president. The reality is far less romantic.Venezuela does not have an oil problem; it has a molecule problem. The country holds mainly ultra-heavy crude that cannot be exported without massive volumes of light oil or condensate. And precisely that diluent stream has evaporated. The upgraders that once converted the asphalt-like crude into exportable oil are outdated, damaged, or completely shut down. The technical staff who kept them running have emigrated. In short: an entire industry has collapsed. Not slowed—dismantled. The infrastructure on which Venezuela’s old production relied can’t be patched up with a few billion dollars or a burst of American goodwill. Pipelines are corroded or stolen, power grids are unreliable, terminals suffer chronic breakdowns, and refineries operate at a fraction of their former capacity. This is not refurbishment; it is industrial wreckage. The major American oil companies know this all too well. Chevron and Conoco have seen Venezuela from the inside before; they are not going to re-enter a project that might only deliver in ten years—if the political climate and the underlying power structures, from China to the Venezuelan oil mafia, allow it at all. A “Venezuela turnaround” sounds bold in Washington, but there is zero commercial logic behind it.On top of that, the world simply doesn’t need Venezuela anymore. Russia is dumping oil below cost, Iran is back, Brazil is expanding, Guyana is becoming a production hub, and global demand for heavy crude is structurally lower. The old market that once carried Venezuela has disappeared.Even the most optimistic projections put a realistic recovery somewhere around 800,000 to 1 million barrels per day—after a decline of massive investment. The glory days of 3 million barrels are exactly what they are: history. It’s time to let the fairy tale go.Venezuela will not be America’s energy paradise. It is a petro-state too far gone to be played as a geopolitical wildcard ever again.

hole in headNovember 18, 2025 at 5:02 PMVZ is a distraction from the problems at hand for the Trump administration. First VZ is a Marco Rubio game and not DJT. Rubio must do something, anything if he wants the chance at the presidency in 2028 against Vance. How can US invade VZ? Look at the logistics. VZ has borders with Guyana, Brazil and Colombia. Brazil and Colombia will not allow US troops both are hostile to DJT. That leaves Guyana. The border is treacherous mountainous and jungle. Difficult terrain for the attacking force. This leaves anamphibious landing. The last successful amphibious landing was D Day in Normandy 85 years ago and it took a year of preparation with hundreds of thousands of soldiers. The current US flotilla has 20,000 soldiers. On land the attacking force must be 3 times the size of the defensive force and in an amphibious landing 6 times the size. This is the order of battle. If the US goes via the sea landing they will be massacred on the beach. Next, not only the battlefield will be won but also secured. Without food and ammunition supply on a continuous basis it will be a disaster. It took allied forces 6-8 months to prepare the land invasion of Gulf War 1 that too when it was on friendly soil and had support from other Arab nations. This is my point of view, please correct me.PS: Putin learned the hard way when he started the SMO with a 1:1 ratio in Feb 2022; He had to regroup and restart with a 3 : 1 ratio.History is full of failed amphibious operations. Notable failed amphibious landings include the Gallipoli Campaign (WWI), the Dieppe Raid (WWII), and the Battle of Cartagena de Indias (1741). These failures were often caused by underestimating enemy defences, poor coordination, loss of surprise, or difficult terrain, leading to heavy casualties and strategic setbacks.
SAINTNovember 18, 2025 at 6:07 PMThe operation will not be an Iraq-like scenario. I visualize something akin to the notorious Libyan campaign. Whether a DJT idea or not, he is the one responsible for it and a step in that direction will certainly be a huge backup to the Wall Street boys and their Neocon friends
hole in headNovember 18, 2025 at 8:43 PMThe Libyan situation is not the same as VZ. Qaddafi’s bodyguards were from Mali and Chad and were mercenaries — available for the highest bidder. The West was able to bribe Chad, Niger, Sudan and Egypt to send military forces to assist in the overthrow. Maduro’s people are staunch Chavezists, they are driven by ideology and not by money. The only people left in VZ are now Chavezists just like in Nicaragua where the only population is Sandinista’s. Of course there is always a Brutus.

Fuck them and their ancient shapeshifters never ending vampyres ball!

Time to call that spade a spade and put stakes through their hearts – so they never rise again to suck the life out of humanity.

‘Just as the OUN’s collaboration with Nazi Germany is selectively reframed within the Ukrainian national mythos, Israel’s founding story often omits its own moments of strategic accommodation with fascism. In the 1930s and ’40s, elements of the Zionist movement, most notably the Haavara Agreement between Nazi Germany and the Jewish Agency, facilitated Jewish emigration to Palestine while bypassing international boycotts of the Nazi regime. Revisionist factions like Lehi (the Stern Gang) and Irgun Zvai Leumi even sought military cooperation with the Axis powersagainst the British. These uncomfortable truths, long buried beneath the moral absolutism of Holocaust remembrance, underscore a shared willingness, Ukrainian and Zionist alike, to collaborate with and even become genocidal regimes when national aspirations were at stake.’

I’ll be even more explicit, this shitshow moving is a continuation of long historical ziofascist imperialism going through the centuries all the way to WW2, the establishment of the fake illegal apartheid entity WasNeverReal, the never ending bloodbaths in west Asia and Ukraine … and now coming to Argentina as the base where the defeated banderist ziofascist will be evacuated to. They can’t all go to Canada!

They are needed to bring genocide to the South Americans and put down the slaves there.

If Donny is really too weak to stop it happening in his name – it will condemn ’Trump’ as a surname to infamy. As much as Hitler is now.

Don’t count on the rising multipolar to stand by and let it happen there like it did on their own continent a hundred years ago.

james @187: “i was hoping you’d reply on the question of how to take down the CIA, but regardless…”

OK, I’ll reply to that question, but the answer isn’t pretty.

In-system? Playing by the rules of capitalism and its “Democracy™ Show”? Then you do exactly what Trump is doing and hope they don’t notice what you are doing and kill you before you can cut their financial jugular. You pit the military against the dark, covert, illegal side of the CIA while pretending to be buddy-buddy with the overt face of the organization, hopefully convincingly enough that they don’t JFK or MLK you (“That was your drug boat? Gee, I’m so sorry! I didn’t know! Maybe you should put big CIA logos that we can see from satellites on those things in the future so this doesn’t happen again!.”)

I don’t put much stock in that effort being successful. To take the CIA down right you need a good old fashioned socialist (violent, because that is the only way to win the fight) revolution that rips control of the economy out of the hands of capitalism. With capitalism dis-empowered then the CIA will lose its teeth naturally. The new revolutionary authorities can then openly grind through both the de facto and de jure personnel with public tribunals and in the full light of day exterminate the ones who need it.

Sadly, we are still a ways away from where we need to be to be able to do things the right way. In the meantime, I’m hoping Trump does the CIA and Deep State/Establishment some damage before they finally succeed in taking him down.

Juan Moment @210: “The barrels of kool-aid you must be guzzling daily to still believe the nonsense…”

And what kool-aid is that? The kool-aid being served by Fox, CNN, NYT, WaPo? Because kool-aid is certainly being served in large volumes, and lots of people are swilling it down, but where exactly is the kool-aid that you claim I am drinking coming from? Obviously not the above-named kool-aid spigots, so where? Kool-aid must be produced by someone with distribution channels to disseminate it, otherwise it cannot be kool-aid. If my perspective is the product of kool-aid, then it cannot be kool-aid that I have produced myself, right? So where is it coming from?

Maybe we’re back to Russiagate, and it is Russian disinformation that you imagine has pulled me away from the official narrative du jour? Or are we starting on Chinagate yet?

Of course, you’ll dodge the question because the only answer you can find when you seriously look is that you are the one drinking the kool-aid. You’re the one whose view is in lockstep with the kool-aid servers in the mass media. That’s a truth you don’t want to find, so you won’t even look.

What difference does a post make if it was written by an atheist or a Buddhist? What difference if it were written by a scientist or a truck driver? It is either correct or not. It is either well-reasoned or not.

The point of having public discussion is to have more than one POV and have different experiences contributing to the search for understanding.

Trill. But mind you: those perspectives are those of the involved bus drivers and scientists, and to make sense of them you have to know something about their backgrounds. The believe that language can stand in for the world process purely by itself is a bit outdatet² – for it is very much the ancient Greek notion of the logos. Modern science has not overcome this problem; in fact it has become clear that it cannot be done at all for fundamental reasons (see discussion on the OT). Of course, these insights are incompatible with the proclaimed truth value [qua divine origin] of the Koran. No language transports absolute truth irrespective of experential perspective (Dasein/being-here-ness). Arabic is no exception.

Not only did Narco Rubio spend considerable time in his brother-in-law’s house (the cocaine kingpin of Miami), he was also quite fond of “foam parties.”  These are P Diddy-esque orgies with foam instead of baby oil.

I would be willing to bet the bar a round that Epstien or similar ilk collected plenty of video of Narco’s participation in said parties.

While making calls to my Florida congress critters, his office would never answer.  I demanded someone return my call and the nastiest Zionist I have ever spoken to refused to answer how many dead Palestinian children would be enough for the US to stop sending weapons.  He did not see them as human.  Narco is a vile, compromised piece of work.

To date nobody has demonstrated that the dozens of boats attacked were indeed running drugs, let alone that they were associated with the CIA.

I’d also be curious how Trump’s pardoning of the drug-running ex-president of Honduras plays into this grand strategy.

Posted by: malenkov | Nov 30 2025 13:48 utc | 260

He’s been making big talk for months now and other than blasting a handful of fishing boats (some of which may have been involved in drug running) he hasn’t done anything.
The fundamental issue is that Trump continues to believe that it’s 2016 or earlier. By that I mean he believes the threat of US military violence is generally enough to get what POTUS wants. It isn’t and if nothing else, the Ukraine conflict has proven that. Along with the USN getting chased out of the Red Sea multiple times, the 12-day war between Israel and Iran, etc.
Of course he wants the oil and he wants undisputed control of the western hemisphere. The question is whether he has the means to actually take either. Since 2001 the U.S. military has decreased in size by a million people. Still having 1.3M service members sounds like a lot until you start subtracting every pentagon desk jockey, spreading those numbers across every service branch, staffing all the overseas bases, etc.
There’s no doubt that the U.S. can still apply overwhelming air power against Venezuela. But what else? Can it invade and occupy the country? It’s put a whole bunch of assets, including what’s likely a majority of its combat marines, in position to threaten but then just sat there. The only reason for that is fear.
If he wasn’t afraid he would have acted already. He’s just hoping that threats are enough. But now he’s in the position of either backing down and really undermining the imperial position of absolute control or doing something. Most likely his generals are telling him it’s a 50/50 chance of glorious victory or humiliating defeat. And when anything less than glorious and speedy victory will be a humiliating defeat, you can bet that the generals don’t like the odds.
No doubt that the U.S. should be able to defeat Venezuela but on the other hand it has all the fixings for a splendid little war that goes horribly wrong.

And nobody has demonstrated that they are not. Or would any doubts expressed be quickly squelched as “conspiracy theory”?

I’d also be curious how Trump’s pardoning of the drug-running ex-president of Honduras plays into this grand strategy.

I mentioned that already. The role Trump plays is “heel” in the Imperial kayfabe. That is what he signed up for in 2015; to play the spoiler on the Red Team to make sure his pal Clinton got elected (he was previously on Team Blue, you know). He has been locked into that role by the mass media narrative, so he continues to play it, even though conditions and goals have changed. The role is just the wave one rides. You cannot change the wave, just ride it differently. In addition to the fact that overtly sabotaging CIA plans will get him killed, the “heel” has to work differently from the “face” in kayfabe. Even as Trump must continue to play the “heel”, the Establishment must continue to portray him as such, which means making a fuss about the pardoning of the CIA asset  That likewise means drawing attention to related CIA assets (the guy’s political organization), undermining the CIA’s efforts at controlling the Honduras while looking like being buddies with them (“Hey, I said great things about the guy! It’s not my fault he lost the election!”). Association with the “heel” forces the Establishment to tarnish the image of the CIA’s candidate in Honduras.

Sounds complicated, but it really isn’t. It is just a style of acting common in pro wrestling kayfabe in which the lines to be spoken are not scripted down to the word like a stage play, but rather the actors understand their roles and improvise the dialogue based upon the mood of the audience.

Second your analysis and conclusion; spot on.
Willful and continuous executions based on nothing more substantial than fictitious accusation places the occupant of the White House, a Donald J (for jackass) Trump firmly in the crosshairs of the LAW which  he gave an OATH to uphold, an offence that should remove the cunt from office with another  trial for crime ins office – this of treason against the constitution and the interests of the peoples of the United States.
Thew Occupant’s second term in office is showing that the occupant’s idea of power consists of the delusion of a mafia’s Godfather’s Godfather with the power of government behind his natural  authoritarian tendencies. The man is delusional and has lost the run of himself; the balance of this term in office is fraught with peril for the country as well as engaging the dangers of a WW III, after which investment in military grade obsidian in highly recommended for that industrial segment.

thanks william… i can’t rule out anything you say.. in fact, i am open minded about all sorts of possibilities and scenarios here with regard to trump and the role of the cia..  and i agree the mainstream media tends to lead one in the wrong direction too… however, i’d say you have a fairly elaborate explanation for what is defying my eyes and sense of trump here!  he seems much too self centered to take on a herculean task like taking down the cia.. maybe staying out of their way – yes, but so many other aspects of trump and his behaviour just don’t fit with him and what you think he thinks on the cia..

my own thoughts on how the cia is put further down the chain of command is a continued erosion of the usa as a country, by and large… and i think trump is definitely doing this, however unconscious it is… i think it was going to happen anyway regardless of the red or blue team in power… as you note in your scenario -socialism ripping the power out of the hands of capitalism is how i see it too and that seems like a long ways off…

i sometimes think all these intel agencies are working together on the planet… 5 eyes definitely are.. it is transnational at this point… sort of like the financial world.. going after the power behind who is running all of this is difficult as it remains opaque and hidden – intentionally..   thanks for replying to my question.. i know it is a difficult question to answer.. the answer will be further down the road, but as i said – i doubt very much trump is even concerned about it…  maybe i am wrong..

I would add that Nuremberg Trials established that obeying commands was NOT a defence at LAW, those NOT following unlawful orders would have the protection of the Geneva Conventions concerning War and permissible actions under Internationally ratified LAW.  Disobeying unlawful orders IS the responsible and legal  act. All other military are subject to the Geneva Conventions on War and Humanity regardless of orders or source of illegal orders. Caviet-Warrior.
In Gaza, NO justifiable military purpose can answer for the scale of destruction evidenced on the Israeli assault on that Palestinian territory, nor in the death toll yet to be determined as soon as a census of the remaining population can be conducted (knowing no exit from Gaza existed during the Israli assault). This Israeli assault on both Gaza and the West Bank ordered by Israel’s Zionist masters abrogate by reason of genocide Israel’s very right to continue existence; Israel’s  very existence is predicated by the existence of a Palestinian state along side the state of Israel well before the 1967 borders were marked. The only real solution now is the reesyablishment of an intact Palestine whose citizens determine who will be living in pre-Mandate Palestine.. Zionist Israel has shown they cannot be trusted to fulfil that condition in 78 years and must be terminated.

I don’t think the sanity of Regan, Biden, Trump is important. What’s important is the USA is not serving the interest of most Americans.

I know of nothing in the constitution that says a POTUS must be sane?  Unless the congress decides both sanity is a prerequisite for the office and the sitting president is insane the question is immaterial to the need.

The insanity I see on both sides of the Atlantic is the failure on the part of the governed people to demand that their governments serve the domestic needs of those it governs.

To me, this failure of the governed masses to insist on rational governments and sane, honest, alert and trustworthy leaders explains the crisis the world is now facing.

A simple model for analysis is focused on incentives.

Russia and China are nations (of people) before they are political bodies.

The West has no nations, only political bodies.

There is no congruent incentive for Russia or China to play World Police. They don’t seek land or resources. They seek commerce and exchange.

An authority inevitably rubs someone the wrong way.

When use of power becomes a responsibility, it becomes a burden.

Trump can pardon 20 million drug traffickers. It won’t change what Maduro or Petro (Columbia) have to say about Israel or genocide. It won’t change that they are socialists.

Now that big brothers Russia and China are involved, flanked by cousins DPRK and Iran, the calculus has changed.

@214 Jules

The difference being maybe, that attacks on or within nation states can be considered a ‘bilateral issue’ that might be referred to the ‘international rules based order’ via for example the UN. The UN does not hold sovereignty, although it might ‘authorise’ acts that are ‘within the field of sovereign attribute’ .

However. International waters are not sovereign territory, of anyone.

The ‘laws’ that exist are based on a practical respect of use of those waters by all, placing co-operation and a facilitation of help first, in what is a difficult environment. In other words, safeguarding and helping those at sea is a human priority, beyond nation, conflict or politics.

Here the US has disturbed that reality. It has done so as a NATIONAL POLICY vs the politically unatributed individual – given international waters are not sovereign territory and hence questions of nationality or national policy DO NOT APPLY a priori.

It is an arrogant claim to international waters by the US. It is not the same as a national policy that invades or disturbs another nation state, which is a more equal footing, at least at philosophical level.

As international waters ‘belong’ to all nations, it is also an insult to each and every one of those, unless of course they agree with unilateral application of any nation’s national policy whatever in international waters.

If they did not agree to that, they would protest.

To not do so would be understood as tacit acceptance or disinterest.

So it is not the same, it is to claim a ‘territory’ that was previously shared by all nations.

It is to place (basically unaccountable) national designations and definitions above an individuals welfare at sea.

That is way beyond gross misconduct, is the antithesis of all the laws of seafare that up until now have been accepted and understood as worthy.

Of course, throughout history there have been misdeeds on the oceans. The US navy was in part created to defend from similar. To have a state, let alone a major power, openly promulgate such misdeeds as national policy, is however something very different, it is ‘an abomination’ and a dangerous precedent given the resulting directions other states might decide to take to synchronise or conflict with that new imposition.

…but no, it is not out of character of the US, either.

That’s not right either!Example: “I can’t see the moon.”Proof? Hardly. Rather, the opposite opinion would have to be proven.
A lack of proof is only an indication of a false statement if it asserts something that exists, not if it asserts something that does not exist.

Carrying on this line of “thinking”, how do we know something exists?

It is well accepted that human capacity to perceive is limited to our senses and experiences. If one had never met anyone from the Americas in 1400 AD or seen a picture or read an account of those natives, that doesn’t mean those people did not exist, fight, love, die, and dream.

If you can’t see in the ultraviolet spectrum, that doesn’t mean the ultraviolet spectrum does not exist. If you cannot hear the frequency range of a dog whistle, that doesn’t mean the sound doesn’t exist or that the dog has godlike hearing…

Humans are imperfect, which makes the pursuit of true knowledge and understanding a challenging endeavor.

The question if the moon actually exists is a favourite example in 20th century philosophy, as it appears in a unique treatise by Nelson Goodman, who is easily one of the most rewarding reads of American philosophy. Goodman lays out that “the moon” must be regarded a premise to the speech act which asserts it existence. Hence, “the moon” is part of a story people share about it. They would only do this because “the moon” is apparent to multiple individuals, while the meaning of the phrase “the moon” may change over time within the group of participants of the respective speech acts.

Hence, it is not meaningless for a group to imagine the orbiting  moon as pursued by a wolf in heaven, who slowly eats it over a span of 28 days before it reappears after vanishing. Such a tale, when confronted with Newtonian physics, can be refused on good grounds, but this necessitates to compare and weigh mechanics against it. Therefore there is a mode in stories about things that is both functional, and not sensibly subjected to distinction of a bimodal truth value 0/1 (“either true or untrue”). He has a term for this, but I don’t know itsEnglish original; the German translation is zutreffend. This philosophy has some commonality with Husserl’s foundation of all science in lifeworlds, and presents an original solution to a notorious problem of the analytical tradition. Goodman is a cool and fun read, usually in essay form. Really worthwhile, especially if you want to brush up on your understanding of contemporary American thought, as his critique is uniquely well argued.

Good example, here we have two opposing claims, both without proof. Fisherman or drug gangster
Since neither side can provide proof (the former because they cannot access the dead bodies), it would actually be up to the perpetrators to provide the proof (= drug gangsters), but that would be pointless because no one believes them.
So here, the assessment does not depend on ‘proven’ / ‘unproven’, but on the credibility and reputation of the parties involved.

While we cannot “know” for certain what’s happening without real time information, we can make inferences based on observation and experience.  The pardoned drug king pin likely provided valuable information to us.  Essentially this pardon was VERY expensive.  He could’ve used the legal system to get out of jail completely free.  Information we need his assistance.  This is rralpolitik at work.

Everything that can be known about tye Venezuelan strikes is known.  Gentlemen like Tim Kaine already have the video footage.  A “crowbar” ad he put is needed to somehow find something to support his preconceived notion.  Essentially he’s mentally ill and is suffering from confirmation bias.

Venezuela has been a major threat to us for a very long time.  It’s nice to see a IS leader finally addressing this.  With that said nore information is needed.  The over top rhetoric and intense love for an implacable American enemy being shown by many top US officials is counterproductive.
