The word ceasefire means nothing to the Zio-Monsters.
“The Gaza Government Media Office says the Israeli military has violated the Gaza ceasefire agreement at least 497 times in 44 days, killing hundreds of Palestinians and injuring many more ever since the truce between Hamas and the Tel Aviv regime came into effect on October 10.
A statement released on Saturday revealed that 342 civilians have lost their lives and 875 others have sustained injuries in the attacks, with the majority of the victims being children, women, and the elderly.
The office denounced Israel for systematically violating the agreement through deadly assaults and ongoing incursions.
It said a total of 27 violations were documented on Saturday, which resulted in 24 deaths and 87 injuries.
The media office characterized the pattern as a “flagrant breach” of international humanitarian law and the humanitarian protocol associated with the ceasefire arrangement.
Since October 10, Israel has committed 142 shootings aimed at civilians, residences, and displacement tents; 21 ground incursions past the so-called ‘yellow line’; 228 strikes from air, artillery, and ground forces; and 100 demolitions of civilian homes and structures, which constitutes ‘collective punishment’ and an attempt to escalate destruction, it further noted.”

“The UN Special Rapporteur on human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories says that European Union (EU) member states are directly enabling Israel’s genocidal campaign in Gaza.
During a press conference at the European Parliament in Brussels on Tuesday, Francesca Albanese said that the EU and its member states have neglected their international obligations toward Gaza and Palestine.
“It is a very grave situation that, particularly due to the objections of Germany and Italy, the suspension of the trade agreement with Israel has still not moved forward,” she remarked.
Albanese highlighted the ongoing ties between the EU and Israel, including arms shipments and Israel’s involvement in the Horizon Europe research program.

Albanese warned of a looming genocide in the West Bank and the risk of complicity, stressing that this complicity threatens not only the survival of Palestine but also the fundamental values of the EU.”

Lebanon is attacked almost daily now, impressive one sided “ceasefire” indeed. Same as in Gaza/West Bank, the same will be on Syria after. The idea that the world is shifting to multipolar world is meaningless in 2025. No unity between the so called Global South and no pressure made on the Western powers to actually stop arming Israel. Continue the talk on the climate/AI stuff, while still using the global systems created by the very people that don’t care about any of these things.

I understand the idea behind this reasoning, but the acts on the ground do not support it. Point number 2 implies that Israel is currently hampered in its belligerence. But if you have been reading the daily submissions by Michaelj and Teri, it is clear that Israel is completely free to pursue the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians in Gaza, West Bank and East Jerusalem.
I would, in fact, argue that the current post “ceasefire” situation is more favourable to Israeli belligerence inasmuch as the Western public has been led to believe that the war is over. Whatever (little) attention it may have previously focused on the region has today shifted to other subjects. In the minds of many, Gaza is a resolved issue.
I suspect Israel didn’t expect to be able to take the violence so far, and with such unwavering support. Past wars have been a matter of months, not years, and the destruction not nearly as methodical and thorough. With the gross demolition phase over, Israel can dial “down” the violence cursor to a mere 8 and pursue its longtime goals with impunity.

Related, no country has yet stepped forward pledging to deploy troops for the ISF plan (beyond expressing potential interest). Since the Americans envisage this mission as a “peace-making” expedition rather than a “peace-keeping” responsibility, it is difficult to envision any Muslim-majority state agreeing to overtly act in the interests of Israel, particularly in context of the obvious genocidal destruction. Particularly if there is a concurrent scheme of an Israel/ISF zone of reconstruction versus a Palestinian zone of poverty and ruin.
The scheme has little to no support at a state level outside the Security Council (and was viewed as an unfortunate compromise there), and no support from the global majority of civil society. These opinions will intensify as the images of the ruined wasteland of Gaza continue to distribute.
Israel is trying very hard to disrupt the declared ceasefires in both Gaza and Lebanon, evidenced in part by the false reports yesterday that Hamas had declared the process “finished”, and the assassination attempt in Beirut. The invisibility of the presumed “guarantors” of the ceasefire process is the active scandal at this point.
The American-authored UNSC Resolution may never be realized due to its contradictions and failure to fully understand the whole scope of the crisis, particularly the unhinged pathology Israel has internalized.

Spirituality is to be desired and I have often admired many Christian people. (As I said, I had a secular Protestant upbringing.) I confess to having not read Martin Buber, although at times I cited him as an example that real left politics need not eschew spirituality. I saw a summary of a Chapter by Uri Ram, “Buber Between Left and Right” in the book Jews and Left Politics (2017). I understand that Buber believed in ‘spiritual zionism’ as opposed to ‘political Zionism,’ and always supported the idea of Jews and Palestinians occupying Palestine.
According to this summary of Ram’s chapter, “For Buber the prime goal of Zionism was the rescue of Judaism and its revival, rather than the rescue of Jews. From his perspective Zionism was not just one more ordinary national movement; Zionism was, rather, the present manifestation of the old sacred covenant between the Land of Israel, the people, and God.”
However it seems now that, any idea of a zionism different from what we see in the total destruction of Gaza, has been effaced, and Judaism may not recover from this crime for too far into the future to envision. Many Christians are also guilty, as we see in the ‘philosophy’ of ‘Christian apologetics,’ aside from the Scofield bible, etc. Of course the crime has become so widespread that the religious aspect is overshadowed by politics, the colluding and conceding by nation states under the present control of the powers that rule.
I had hoped to find out a text by Buber to read first, but seem to have gone off in this direction. There is a sentence I don’t understand, if you would care to explain it at this point:
“Promises are not kept by the people who followed those wrote about God, and promises not kept are not honored by God; actions have consequences.”
I would like to read Buber on Moses. What book can I read? I thank you for your inspiring, so well-expressed input.

Russia and China have not objected, have continued or increased trade and relations, and appear to have trouble with the word ‘genocide’ or the recognition of murder of civilians and similar crimes.
Especially given the major political and economic positions they hold.

To compare US/West with Russia is a false dichotomy, as the misactions of one do not justify those of another simply for their being less severe. There it might be said your argument is the deflection, although most would probably agree that US/West deserves ‘a main attention’ .
That said there is something particularly disturbing about Russia and China not taking a stand, given the ‘political gift’ that would represent, even were we to ignore their signed commitments and obligations under international treaty, or simply what would be a humane position to take.
