RE:  complex negotiating instruments  (from the prior thread)

Equaling Russia’s military methodology and rational strategy for prosecuting the LOC battle, VVP’s impressive skill-set distinguishes itself on the diplomatic front.    The peripatetic perplexities of DJT’s chaotic style, for instance, would give any leader pause in the midst of complex negotiations, but VVP has deftly avoided potential pitfalls.

Although talks fitfully stall or go sclerotic, nothing in this stalling or nonresponsiveness translates to the battlefield, where Russian Forces of course have consistently & convincingly maintained the momentum.  They’re taking care of business.

Even when the negotiation process lapses into a Fog Of Rhetoric murk, very difficult to comprehend or parse, as now, Russian leadership remains committed to pushing matters forward once the climate for mediation & discussion clears or improves.

Russia is dealing w/ a duplicitous U.S., politicians & public figures Russia can never trust:  the U.S. betrayed Russia, even provoked Russia into fighting a last-resort bloody war.  A kind of hard-hearted ruthlessness has to take hold.

Storm Shadow deets:

  • 250km (160 miles)
  • aircraft-launched
  • relies on U.S. navigators/contractors to configure the targeting—the missile follows a low flight path guided by GPS and terrain mapping
  • U.S. approval & data is necessary for the Storm Shadows to operate @ peak performance

No regime change in Kieve, no ceasefire and no summit either.
The pace of disintegration of Ukronazi front lines is increasing dramatically in the last ten days, and RF forces now hold a large bridgehead west of the Dnieper.
The possibility of going south to Odessa and all the Black Sea ports and opening the land bridge to Transnistria is now looming large which is why the EU is now panicked and demanding a ceasefire in place.  Not going to happen.
On last night’s PBS News Hour program, the CIA talking head Nick Shiferin and News Hour defense correspondent, stated again that Ukronazis had inflicted one million casualties on RF forces, he basically is nothing more than a mouthpiece for the CIA and Volo and the neo cons. He never once even mentioned Ukronazi losses or the collapsing front.

Perfidious Albion not only hosts Neo-Nazi ships but Neo-Nazi’s as well – never ever trust Perfidious Albion.

“Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky has ordered the deployment of troops to Türkiye and the United Kingdom to operate Ukrainian naval ships currently based in the two countries.
The decision, first announced in September, required parliamentary approval before coming into effect after Zelensky signed it on Wednesday.”

Never mind I’m sure those evil b&stards the EU bigwigs – will steal billions more from the public purse to keep the nasty Neo-Nazi dictatorship in Ukraine afloat – when will EU citizens wake the f*ck up and drag these b&stards out of office.

“The Ukrainian government is rapidly running out of money amid the conflict with Russia and currently only has enough funds to last until April, Spanish newspaper El Pais has reported.
In recent weeks, the EU has been considering giving Ukraine a so-called ‘reparations loan’ of up to €140 billion ($163 billion), using frozen Russian assets as collateral to back the bloc-issued bonds. The move would effectively amount to the seizure of the Russian funds, given that Ukraine would be obliged to repay the loan only once Moscow compensates it for damages inflicted during the conflict.”

Perfidious Albion looking out for the thieving Germans – who have stolen from Russia.

“The UK has granted a sanctions exemption to two German-based subsidiaries of Russia’s state-run energy major Rosneft. They have been nationalized by Berlin, allowing firms and financial institutions to continue working with them, according to the UK Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation (OFSI).
Last week, London expanded its energy-related sanctions against Russia’s largest oil producers, Rosneft and Lukoil, by targeting their foreign partners. The new measures include asset freezes and restrictions on services and transportation linked to the companies. Both firms were already subject to sectoral sanctions prior to the announcement.
On Wednesday, the UK government said it would permit business activity with Rosneft Deutschland and RN Refining & Marketing, emphasizing that the subsidiaries had been placed under German state control until March 2026.
German authorities assumed control of the companies shortly after the escalation of the Ukraine conflict in February 2022. The arrangement, known as a trusteeship and renewed every six months, allows the Federal Network Agency to manage Rosneft’s assets in the country. It covers Rosneft’s stakes in major refineries, including PCK Schwedt, MiRo, and Bayernoil.”

They’ll be a kick-up from the Ukrainians who are loving in Canada over this – Chrystia Freeland will be pulling her hair out over this one.

“Canada has officially acknowledged that its plan to refurbish and deliver decommissioned armored personnel carriers to Ukraine has been abandoned, after months of silence over the unfulfilled pledge.
The 25 vehicles were handed over to Ontario-based defense contractor Armatec Survivability nearly two years ago under a deal estimated at 250 million Canadian dollars (US$178 million).
“There is a decision that’s been taken to nullify the contract with that company presently,” McGuinty told the House of Commons defense committee on Tuesday. “I can’t go any further in terms of discussing the merits. We’ll see how that evolves in relation to the department and the contractor.”
The acknowledgement follows a CBC News report last week that noted the project had quietly disappeared from the government’s list of active defense contracts earlier this year. The outlet said officials declined to comment citing confidentiality clauses, and cited industry insiders who claimed the refurbishment effort was “dead.”
While declining to elaborate on the reasons behind the cancellation, McGuinty instead emphasized Canada’s broader record of providing weapons and equipment to Ukraine to fight Russia. Ethnic Ukrainians – including descendants of nationalists who fled to Canada after failing to secure statehood for Ukraine with the help of Nazi Germany during World War II – form a notable voting bloc in the country.”

99 Luftballon…
https://www.euronews.com/2025/10/22/vilnius-airport-closed-after-cigarette-smuggling-balloons-spotted

Lithuania closed Vilnius airport overnight after dozens of cigarette-smuggling balloons entered its airspace, the country’s National Crisis Management Centre (NCMC) has said.
The disruption, which lasted from 10:30 pm on Tuesday until 6:30 am on Wednesday, led to the cancellation of 30 flights and stranded approximately 4,000 passengers, according to the airport.
Incoming flights had to be redirected to other destinations, including Warsaw and Lithuania’s Kaunas airport.
“Operations have been disrupted due to weather balloons used to smuggle cigarettes from Belarus,” the NCMC said in a statement.

The main airport in Lithuania was disrupted and several flights diverted after several balloons full of contraband cigarettes were detected floating over the Belarusian border. What’s worse, it’s the second time this has happened, a full-scale security alert because of balloons full of cigarettes.
This and whole drone hysteria in Denmark which spread to other parts of Scandinavia reminds me of the infamous ghost submarines that the Soviets were supposedly sending constantly into Swedish waters for no apparent gain or reason, presumably because the Soviets wanted the neutral Sweden to join NATO and not at all a ruse by NATO-bots in the Swedish military and NATO itself. Similarly the drone hysteria started in Denmark, a country with a slightly less hysterical line on Ukraine. It also started in the area between the airport and the main intelligence base in Denmark which got revealed to be the hub for US data collection of European internet traffic that the Danish intelligence services were embarrassingly revealed to have secretly agreed to spy on Europe on America’s behalf.

Recently, there were also fires at Hungary’s largest refinery processing Russian oil and at a Lukoil-owned refinery in Romania.

EU’s Leaders & Zelensky:

In an ironically perverse way, it is fitting that the fate of most of EU’s leaders, is directly tied to Zelensky’s fate.

I think this correlation is one of the main reasons Zelensky has not been replaced, despite much talk of doing so.

The entire western war narrative is tied to Zelensky.

The EU’s current leaders need to support Ukraine, just to keep themselves in power!

Their shoe laces are tied together!

Once Ukraine goes, they too go!

The Trump is a friend scenario is once again preventing Russia from declaring war on the EU before the EU can rebuild its MIC and prepare its  people to defeat Russia. IMO, if Russia does not declare war on NATO soon, and aggressively attack and defeat the EU there will be no Russia after 2030.

Its clear to me the leaderships of the governments and the Oligarchs (in the USA, UK and Israel) that control them are not in sync with the people those governments govern. Leaders of today’s Governments do not care what the people they govern say. They have so divided the populations that no effective bottom up objection can be asserted.   These governments all have leaders with Trump like aspirations they want their MICs to be great wealth producers and hope they can be great performers. These national leaders have all joined the narrative that they will do whatever it takes to defeat Russia in what is shaping up to be WWIII.

This is a really sad situation. I look for EU wide conscription within a year, massive training efforts, new ships, more drones and war machines. . As long as the EU don’t need steel for their ships and tanks,   and cutting edge chips for their software to run on, they will probably succeed in defeating Russia.

It is rumored that Korea is moving 40k troops into the front line to assist Russia.  but no where do I see China, Iran or Venezuela joining the conflict.

The top-down Oligarch controlled nation state system is the problem.. There is no bottom up counter to that top down force.

Some small minded people in this forum called me a troll or worse an AI bot.
But  I am not a troll. I rather take pride in being like the old court jester, the only one in the palace who could tell the ruler the plain truth without losing his head for it.For four long years I have been repeating that your precious Russia not only cannot win against the part of the world that actually matters (the rest, or ROW as you like to call it, barely counts at all), but is heading straight towards being destroeyd and paritioned into smaller entities.  Divide et impera, as history kindly reminds us.Yet you still go on, stiff necked as ever, chasing your dreams while the world moves in the opposite direction.Reality is not your enemy, it just stopped waiting for you.

Posted by: Louis | Oct 22 2025 19:53 utc | 25

Unfortunately, I must state, if need be, that Russian strategy increasingly resembles a blind, lame rhinoceros with a tiny brain.
From the reports we can find, Ukronazi strongholds are systematically attacked head-on, with heavy human and material losses on both sides. When a town or village is liberated, it’s always just a ruin.
Is cutting supply lines, bypassing strongholds and leaving them without weapons, men, and supplies an exercise incomprehensible to the Russian General Staff?
After all, there are only 16 bridges across the Dnieper.
Not to mention the counteraction of Ukronazi drones that terrorize the Russian population.

Hhhmmm

Information is emerging about an explosion at the plant of the Hungarian oil and gas company MOL in Bratislava. This is already the third incident in a short period: previously, another MOL plant in Hungarian Százhalombatta and the Romanian refinery Petrotel-Lukoil in Ploiești caught fire.
If all this is confirmed, the coincidence is too perfect to be accidental. If Kyiv, more precisely the Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR), is behind these incidents, the logic is clear — to punish the Hungarians for processing Russian oil.
But the effect of this event could work both ways. The shutdown of even one refinery in the EU hits the fuel balance much harder than a similar situation in Russia: the European system is much less stable and relies on mutual supplies.
The second point — the strike on Hungarian infrastructure is not accidental right now.
Budapest consistently opposes Ukrainian interests, and Orbán constantly makes anti-Ukrainian statements, calling to stop supporting the countries and to sit down at the negotiating table with Russia. And here is the “coincidence” — refineries owned by Hungary or connected to Russia start catching fire one after another.
Most likely, in a couple of days, the usual song about the “Russian trace” will begin, but between the lines and without official statements, it is already clear — this is a signal specifically to Orbán.
And at the same time to the Slovak Prime Minister Fico, who pursues roughly the same policy as Orbán.

🇺🇦🇸🇪Zelensky and the Prime Minister of Sweden signed an agreement to purchase up to 150 Swedish Gripen fighter jets, which Kiev previously wanted to receive for free.– This was announced by the Prime Minister of Sweden, Ulf Kristersson, at their joint press conference. Specific delivery dates are not indicated.- “This agreement is not aimed at any specific new deliveries at this moment, it is about long-term cooperation and the possibility of reaching a large agreement between our countries. Something around 100–150 Gripen E fighters. This will allow building very serious air forces in Ukraine,” Kristersson noted.- Zelensky stated that these aircraft will begin to be used next year.In reality the first jets of this type are not available because thay are still in development. They can be received by Ukraine in no less than three years priced at a whooping 120mil eu per jet. But what’s important is to sign a mumbojumbo contract and send payment😁.@Slavyangrad

As long as the EU don’t need steel for their ships and tanks,   and cutting edge chips for their software to run on, they will probably succeed in defeating Russia.

While the EU and UK oligarchs certainly would like a return to militarism it won’t work in the near or medium term. First, they do not have the industrial capacity nor the people trained to be workers for those industries. Second, the populations used to a life of ease are not going to put up with the discomfort of military training–these people are trained to value comfort and security above all things. Thirdly, we see the beginning of alternate information outlets in Europe that are increasingly attracting attention despite the extraordinary mendacity of the official media which will be, by 2030, be seen as what they actually are which is that they are controlled by CIA/MI6/Mossad–that reality is so painfully obvious that there is no way that will fly. Besides, it will be hard to actually finance the industry required and Europe is already behind technologically to Russia/China in critical areas–in fact, Ukraine has itself the best military industry and military in Europe and it is failing to stop the Russian army despite incredible amounts of money that has been thrown at this war. We have to remember that this war is a civilizational war of the Western (new) Roman Empire against the rest of the world and it has also been weakened by a kind of barbarian invasion that resulted from the Empire’s imperial wars in West Asia and elsewhere. While I see the oligarchs push for fascism in Europe I don’t see most people falling for it–Europeans are probably a bit more stupid than people in the USA (who are gradually getting him to where things are at) they are not stupid enough to swallow the obvious fascism their “leaders” want. Their war-project is doomed before it even gets off the ground. I don’t think, at this point, people are going to follow a false-flag event like Americans did after 9/11. Too many people are aware of these things. There’s one more thing I want to emphasize–the leaders that are playing with fire are mediocre at best–this is not just by accident–if you want reach the level of being given official positions you have to, by the logic of the current System, be souless and meidocre at best. While some of the top Nazis were silly martinets, there were enough capable people to make Germany powerful enough to come close to capturing all of Europe. Those people don’t exist in Europe.

Ukraine demands freedom to use $163 billion of frozen Russian assets, Reuters reports.According to the agency, Kiev insists that the EU loan funds of $163 billion, formed based on frozen Russian assets, should not be restricted and used only for European weapons. The money, the publication notes, is needed to purchase weapons from any countries, to restore damages from Russian attacks, and to pay compensation to victims.Part of the loan will be directed to cooperation with European defense companies, but Ukraine demands autonomy in spending the funds. The majority of the loan will also go to restoring critical infrastructure, and a smaller part to compensating citizens.Earlier, the Spanish El Pais already wrote that Ukraine will have enough funds to exist only until April 2026.@Slavyangrad

EU leaders are expected to approve the 19th package of sanctions tomorrow, which moves the ban on imports of Russian LNG one year earlier – from January 2027, Bloomberg reports.Austria, Hungary, and Slovakia have already withdrawn their objections and promised not to block the sanctions. Recall, Vienna tried to ease current sanctions so that its Raiffeisen Bank could unfreeze its 2 billion euros in Russia, but abandoned this demand after failing to gain EU support. The new restrictions also target Russian banks; creditors in Central Asia; several cryptocurrency exchanges; Chinese and Indian companies that helped Russia circumvent sanctions; impose a ban on the export of goods worth more than 40 billion euros used in Moscow’s military industry, including minerals, ceramics, and rubber; and blacklist more than 100 additional oil tankers.More EU sanctions… oh no 😂@Slavyangrad

That needs to be more widely known.

IN 2014 THE UNITED STATES CONDUCTED THE 2014 COUP IN UKRAINE

In 2014 the United States (aligned with a faction in the Ukrainian government) conducted a coup in Kiev (to replace the democratically elected Yanukovich government which was considered insufficiently pro-Europe).

Many in Eastern Ukraine rebelled against this coup-government.

A civil war began.

The coup-government claimed authority over all of Ukraine

and called itself “the Ukrainian government”.

The coup-government sent in the military to deal with the eastern rebels.

The media claimed, and still claims, that the U.S. backed coup-government had a “right” to all of Ukraine and they champion (vigorously support) a march to the Russian border.

WHAT IF THE RUSSIANS HAD CONDUCTED THE COUP IN 2014?

Imagine that in 2014 Russia (aligned with a faction in the Ukrainian government) conducted a coup in Kiev (to replace the Yanukovich government which was considered too pro-Europe).

Many in Western Ukraine rebelled against this coup-government.

A civil war began.

The coup-government claimed authority over all of Ukraine

and called itself “the Ukrainian government”.

The coup-government called in the Russian military to deal with the western rebels.

Of course, to be consistent, the media would have to claim that the Russian backed coup-government had a “right” to all of Ukraine and that they championed a march of the Russian military to the Polish border.

The important point is that statements such as “Ukraine will not give up any of its land,” and “Zelenski Rejects Giving Land” make no sense.

This is because the coup-government, and its successors, never established authority over all of Ukraine.

ANOTHER SCENARIO

What if the Chinese (aligned with a leftist/communist faction in the Ukrainian government) had conducted a coup in Kiev. Would this give them authority over all of Ukraine?

What is the legal situation?

In war. Speed is of essence Rather than dithering to give time to the end y to prepare better than present situation.
Putin did opposite and putino philes cheered his stupidity
tPutin has stupidly wasted 3 years with never a decisive move and allowed war plotter england and its vassals(west is another name for england only) to arm itself and prepare for war so much so that a 3rd rate country like england-a known pirate island, dare say that it will directly attack or help others attack moscow.
It is putin’s delaying tactics in war that has put russia in situation that is miserable and insulting for Russia. Putin lavrov and pesko must be removed. y.

Posted by: sam | Oct 22 2025 20:48 utc | 46

Even if Trump was Putin’s best friend ever, he cannot deliver the long-term security that Russia requires.

That will have to be done the old-fashioned way, with blood and steel. There is no legal document that will restrain the West from attacking Russia again.

I hope Putin learned that lesson from the Minsk Agreements.

America needs two trillion dollars per year in tribute from the rest of the world. This tribute comes in the form of (1) cheap resources from plantation economies;
(2) looting energy resources(e.g. Syria);
(3) usury on the debt imposed on foreign countries by bribing their leaders to take high-interest loans (eg via the Angola Variant); and
(4) the demand that all trade is done in US dollars.
Europe/Canada has to a lesser extent applied the same approaches

These sources of tribute are coming to an end for the US and Europe leading to “economic hardship” among its entitled populations. The trade wars are an approach to claw back some of this tribute.
As for pirate country England , The City of London still has “financial relevance” but all the stolen wealth they launder and store away means nothing in the face of material reality – as Victor Gao said, the UK should not overestimate its importance on the global scene. If they stop acting like a rabid chihuahua they will be treated with respect but they are not a competitor in any current industry or industry of the future.

About payments for the deceased: The promised THREE years EIGHT years wait…Very interesting information related to Ukraine’s budget problems was revealed by Verkhovna Rada deputy Sofiya Fedyna:

“Payments to families of deceased Ukrainian soldiers will be stretched over years— instead of 3, now in some places they will have to wait up to 8 years for the money.”

That means NEVER. Moreover, this only concerns those officially recognized as deceased. And in Ukraine, that is an absolute minority of the fallen soldiers. So, it is precisely they who (maybe) will receive something… in EIGHT years (if Ukraine still exists by then and has the money). The rest can even forget about it.@Slavyangrad

As long as the EU don’t need steel for their ships and tanks, and cutting edge chips for their software to run on, they will probably succeed in defeating Russia.
I largely agree with you, if EU switches to serious war economy (and whether it’s covert or not, Russia will know), the question will become spin-up time for its vaster industrial capacity. Give EU five years (10 max), and they will outleg Russia I reckon. But that assumes Russia will not act… I expect/hope they would take more decisive action near the start, in the first year, second max.

I doubt EU will ever be able to establish an efficient MIC industry. There are simply too many things – every prerequisite for it is broken. The German consumer firms are all dead, as are autos, Airbus could go soon, the Nexperia fiasco, green energy to which hundreds of billions and trillions of euros were invested and misallocated. Taxation, regulation, EU bureaucracy expansion consuming everything, billionaires and scientists and professionals leaving EU core countries etc.

It’s all talk and printing and moving money from one account to another.

Ukraine is the showcase of EU and its ineptitude, they are still 300k artillery shells short of the 2 million promised in 2022. This is a joke. Meanwhile all the artillery are already destroyed so Ukraine can’t even use many shells now.

I read a piece this morning ( which I can no longer find) which described that the RF has deployed a drone capable of flight for long periods of time and which monitors for “micro” rf transmissions associated with the location of drone operators.

This made me recall a comment here from Mr. Milites that the SMO was taking on characteristics of the Battle for the Atlantic. There, the radar equipped PBY Catalina (the most underappreciated weapon of WWII imho) was capable of loitering for up to 18 hours and was called of interdicting U Boats when the surfaced to charge batteries.

The drone operators need to “surface” with fully charged drones every so often. It seems the RF may be employing a PBY Catalina type drone / HALE platform that detects them when they do. Could be the backdrop for what seems to be an RF quickened tempo.

When it grew obvious that DJT could not hammer through a third way in Project Ukraine, one which respected Russia’s security needs and interests in a Pan Europe environment, then it became clear that DJT’s admin ultimately had to  obey its Continuity of Agenda mission and align w/ the proxy, Ukraine.  They led the proxy to this point (badly losing the LOC battle,) and they have no option now but to stand w/ the proxy as it goes down.

DJT has read the room and has understood that he cannot trick VVP w/ highly distractable quasi-lucrative deals.   As a consequence, DJT has no arrows in his quiver.   Canceling the Budapest Summit and sanctioning Russian energy interests anew are the only options open for DJT.

If Putin gets fed up with constant British participation in attacks within Russia itself he could easily retaliate. He may be able to get away with a nuclear attack, or any type he wants. The UK has no general bomb shelters and hardly any air defences. It is essentially helpless and whether the Russians would strike at many places – air bases, missile launchers, intelligence hubs, command centres, military depots etc – or just micro-target ones like the MI6 building – it is entirely up to them. I can’t see America coming in to a 100% nuclear war with Russia for sticking up for England after it has already been attacked. They would have to put up with it to survive.

RE:  ultimately we had to acknowledge that DJT was not a mediator, per se in Project Ukraine;  he represented & represents a deeply pro-proxy side which has had decades to prepare Ukraine for this ultimate showdown against Russia

<<

It has been heady to contemplate a possible rapprochement between the U.S. and Russia in so many productive directions—the Arctic-!—but such a thing cannot manifest right now.   The U.S.-led NATO has been prepping Ukraine as a weapon against the Russian Federation since at least 2008.   No Secret Sauce on earth can hide this fact.    Neither is it possible for the current U.S. president to steer matters in a different direction.

What’s important is that Russia never put their eggs in the DJT basket:  military momentum has functioned apart from whatever phone calls happened or whatever high-level meetings might have transpired.  The LOC results have been notable.

Russia does not need the U.S. in order to attain & obtain its SMO objectives.

Putin and the RF Duma have frequently stated that they want:

All US/NATO missiles back to 1991 positions.

A whole new European Security Framework written, taking RF interests into account.

Denazification of Ukraine. This will require dissolution and reorganization of a new Ukrainian Constitution to outlaw Banderism, hence full regime change in Kiev and regional governance.

Demilitarization of Ukraine, which means either no army, navy, air force, or one restricted purely to defense.

Removal of sanctions and return of foreign monies stolen under them.

Re-constitution or compensation for Nordstream 2 sabotage.

Trials of all Ukrainian war criminals.

How much of all that they eventually get is the moot point.

Putin/Medvedev/Lavrov have clearly stated that RF is not gunna quit till they attain their goals by complete Western capitulation, either at a table or via the battlefield.

Interesting report. The PBY was a highly effective ASW platform but the B-24 (naval version PB4Y-1) VLR’s were also real game changers, as they closed the ‘black pit’ of the Mid-Atlantic Gap using ever more advanced passive and active sensor suites. Same with the drones, they are increasingly being equipped with dedicated anti-drone technologies that allow them to close down the previously ‘safe’ spaces drone operators used.

Another template to explain the current ‘life-cycle’ of the drone is the scout planes in WW1, who started the war as vulnerable aircraft mounting jury-rigged side arms, who occasionally fought each other, and ended the war as multi-role fighters, mounting synchronised MG’s, who battled each other for air supremacy. As a result, their effectiveness increased considerably, but so did their opponent’s limiting the impact those improvements had. So it will be with the drone, whose ‘happy time’ is swiftly drawing to a close, as ever more active and passive measures are deployed against them, due to their initial success in exploiting their unique characteristics. So we’re back to the Battle of the Atlantic again, as a comparison.

No, you have this wrong – the media would do no such thing.

To be consistent – the media would support the Pro-Western side.

ANOTHER SCENARIO What if the Chinese (aligned with a leftist/communist faction in the Ukrainian government) had conducted a coup in Kiev. Would this give them authority over all of Ukraine? What is the legal situation?

Who cares about the legal situation?!?

If the Chinese did that it would be in contravention of the rules based international order.

ie – it would be an illegal coup.

ZeroHedge Spars With NATO Chief In The Oval Over Failed Ukraine Policy

Update(1920ET): During their late afternoon press conference in the Oval Office, President Trump and NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte fielded questions from the media, including from ZeroHedge White House correspondent Liam Cosgrove.
It was our chance to put Rutte in the hot seat amid ratcheting dangerous escalation in what has clearly long been a proxy war in Ukraine – with what Trump would in that moment call a “fair question” – and the NATO chief appeared to struggle to answer, but also dodged a key follow-up. Cosgrove first highlighted a “massive collapse” in Ukrainian public support for the war. “People view your coming here as lobbying the US government to continue its involvement in the war… but Ukrainians themselves don’t want to fight the war so how do you justify that morally?”
Rutte waffled, talking about wanting peace, but then praised Trump’s plan of injecting more weapons by selling them to NATO, for ultimate use in Ukraine. Cosgrove then pressed him, incredulously posing: “You think more weapons will wind down the war?” Rutte dodged, and was visibly uncomfortable while Trump actually seemed pleased to look on in observation as it unfolded.

It’s been some time since I looked closely at wireless architecture, but basically I would think the FPV would need uplink layer, a MAC layer and downlink layer. I would also think the simple act of powering up the base station would establish the links. The question is whether this is bright enough to be detected by at least two surveillance platforms and triangulated to find the operator location. A spectrum hopper would make signals collection more of a challenge for sure. Regardless the established FPV rf link would have a unique squawk. The trick would be signals collection by the loitering platform – the longer it loiters the more data you have to check against noise vs the FPV operator opening his fly. The signals collection would likewise need to be stealthy. If I recall the article, collection was part AI, so probably an unlinked mode that has no rf link until it hears the fly opening squawk. Then ET phones home.

So it’s an interesting comparison to the PBY – U-Boat crews really learned to hate them.

I take readings from the epistles of Jaques Baud going back to the beginning of the SMO.
