Moon of Alabama Brecht quote

Why Trump’s Alleged Shift On Ukraine Isn’t One

Two days ago, while I was moving this website, President Donald Trump made some rather ridiculous comment (emphasis added):

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump – Sep 23, 2025, 18:55 utc

After getting to know and fully understand the Ukraine/Russia Military and Economic situation and, after seeing the Economic trouble it is causing Russia, I think Ukraine, with the support of the European Union, is in a position to fight and WIN all of Ukraine back in its original form. With time, patience, and the financial support of Europe and, in particular, NATO, the original Borders from where this War started, is very much an option. Why not? Russia has been fighting aimlessly for three and a half years a War that should have taken a Real Military Power less than a week to win. This is not distinguishing Russia. In fact, it is very much making them look like “a paper tiger.” When the people living in Moscow, and all of the Great Cities, Towns, and Districts all throughout Russia, find out what is really going on with this War, the fact that it’s almost impossible for them to get Gasoline through the long lines that are being formed, and all of the other things that are taking place in their War Economy, where most of their money is being spent on fighting Ukraine, which has Great Spirit, and only getting better, Ukraine would be able to take back their Country in its original form and, who knows, maybe even go further than that! Putin and Russia are in BIG Economic trouble, and this is the time for Ukraine to act. In any event, I wish both Countries well. We will continue to supply weapons to NATO for NATO to do what they want with them. Good luck to all!

DONALD J. TRUMP, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

Some people claimed that this uttering showed that Trump had changed his mind over Ukraine.

It was far from that. Trump was in fact mocking the delusional assessments General Keith Kellogg and General Dan Caine had given him:

Special Presidential Envoy Keith Kellogg on Monday said he and the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff recently advised President Trump that Russia is losing its war on Ukraine — as Moscow has seen more than 1 million casualties while taking less than 1% of Ukrainian territory since November 2022.
…
“If Putin thinks Russia is winning, his definition of winning and my definition of winning are absolutely two different things,” Kellogg said. “If he was winning, he’d be in Kyiv. If he’s winning, he’d be west of the Dnipro River. If he was winning, he’d be on Odessa. If he was winning, he would have changed the government.

“Russia is, in fact, losing this war,” he added.
…
The two military experts gave their assessment in response to Trump’s then-prodding as to whether Putin’s grandstanding of supposed success in Ukraine was true, Kellogg said, giving a rare glimpse into private discussions at the White House.
…
“I responded quite forcefully, and I finally said, ‘Mr. President, don’t just listen to me. Your chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Dan Caine, is outside. He’s out in the hall, bring him in and ask him that question. He’s your senior, he’s your principal military adviser,’” Kellogg said.

“And he did, and Dan said the same thing. He went, ‘Nope, not winning.’”

When Trump repeated the implausible propaganda claims Kellogg had made it was pure sarcasm. Trump knows that “seeking a decisive Russian defeat is a virtually impossible goal that presents serious and unwarranted risks“.

He used the sarcasm to wash his hand over further action about Ukraine. It is also relieving him of pressure to continue talks with Russia.

It took two days for the New York Times to acknowledge this (archived):

But scratch the surface, and a deeper desire seemed buried in Mr. Trump’s reversal of position during the U.N. meetings in New York this week. Mr. Trump appears to want to wash his hands of the Ukraine conflict, after having no success bringing President Vladimir V. Putin to the negotiating table, and a dwindling chance of acting as mediator between the two warring parties.

Trump’s statement was not, as the NY Times claims, a “reversal of position”. At the essence he is saying that he will continue to sell weapons to Europe but that is all that he is going to do – at least openly. There will be no new U.S. aid for Ukraine and no U.S. forces riding to its rescue.

Behind the scene the U.S. will of course do its best to stay in control of the conflict. NATO, under full U.S. control, will continue to push the European dimwits towards a ever deeper involvement in the war. U.S. intelligence will continue to help Ukraine to target Russian troops and maybe even targets in Russia (machine translation):

US President Donald Trump has received information about a” planned offensive ” by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which will require intelligence from the United States.

This is reported by the American business newspaper The Wall Street Journal.

At the same time, the publication notes that, despite the change in rhetoric regarding Russia, the American president still refuses to allow strikes with his country’s weapons deep into the territory of the Russian Federation.

Nothing is new in this policy. The U.S., under Trump, had always planned to drop the responsibility and burden of the war in Ukraine, which it had instigate, onto Europe. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth had announced that plan on February 12 during a military summit in Bruxelles:

Hegseth also told Nato’s European members that they would need to provide the lion’s share of future aid for Kyiv, warning that Washington “will no longer tolerate an imbalanced relationship” with its allies.

“Safeguarding European security must be an imperative for European members of Nato,” Hegseth said. “Europe must provide the overwhelming share of future lethal and non-lethal aid to Ukraine.”

Trump’s “reversal of position” isn’t one. His announcement is a continuation of his policy. In today’s Washington Post a ‘senior White House official’ confirms as much (archived):

President Donald Trump’s furious rhetoric toward Russia is “a negotiating tactic” intended to pressure the Kremlin, a senior White House official said Wednesday, a day after the president stunned global policymakers and delighted Ukrainian leaders by embracing Kyiv’s ambitions for a decisive defeat of Russia.
…
Trump was not signaling a major shift in U.S. policy toward Kyiv during a day at the U.N. General Assembly in which he met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the official said, ..

Russia seems to have understood Trump’s uttering better than Western journalists did. The former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev commented the events in New York in his usual manner:

And Trump? Once again he slipped into an alternative reality, reciting a fresh set of political incantations about “Russia’s weakness.”

After meeting with the clowns from Kiev and Paris, he posted a flamboyant message: final victory for Kiev, a return to old borders, Russia’s collapsing war economy, gas lines, and the image of a “paper tiger.”

In that reality everything is different: Kiev is winning, Russia is torn to pieces, and Bandera’s Ukraine is thriving on its own resources. In that same fantasy, Trump’s predecessors Obama and Biden still live happily ever after.

But Trump is not like them. No doubt—he’ll be back. He always comes back. In a few days he’ll probably propose that the green pianist sign a capitulation. Or maybe fly to Mars with his pardoned Musk. Or come up with something else “historic” to claim a Nobel Prize.

The key, after all, is to keep drastically changing your position on every major issue. That’s what makes for “successful” governance through social media.

And, as they say—thank you for your attention to this matter!”

The war between Nato and Russia IS in Ukraine. That is where hundreds of billions worth Nato equipment, tens of thousands deep shipped mercs from countless Nato national armies went to die.

Russia’s posture in Ukraine, against Nato is one of active defense. It doesn’t mean no offensives, it means opportunistic offensives to gain a better position against whatever Nato decides to throw in Ukraine and the immediate front.

This ‘fascism’ of which you liberally speak came to the US decades ago with the Patriot Act.

Good of you to finally notice – also notice that no subsequent administration from either part of the Uniparty has seen fit to repeal it, nor even to suggest repealing it.

This Truth Social post did nothing close to this. Just consider all of the UK, French and German posturing surrounding Alaska. No middle ground chosen – pure neocon predominance. How many MI6 fingerprints are on all manner of provocations.

This social media post does little more that say: So guys (UK, France, Germany) your powers of persuasion have prevailed. Ukraine can win. Now y’all fight harder.

EU et als are seeing this as the US at the station of a southbound train. So be it. Cry me a river.

From Reuters
“”Another clear example is the crisis in Ukraine provoked by the West, through which NATO and the EU have … already declared a real war on my country and are directly involved in it,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

Lavrov has made similar remarks in the past, but their echo within the walls of the United Nations building — delivered in front of fellow G20 foreign ministers — underscored the gravity of the moment.”
……..

Along with that, there is the US war secretary announcing an unscheduled generals and admirals pow wow, the flurry of drone and other crazed propaganda in Europe, Russia closing the airspace over its hazel tree launch site.
Something big is going on.

Interesting to note that you don’t mention whether the ready availability of energy resources, raw materials or manufacturing facilities gives Russia any advantage over Europe…

Or we could look at Europe’s air defence/missile interception capabilities, compare those with Russia, see how things work out, these might turn out to be rather more significant than just being “technical”, actual existence comes first…

The fact that the US will go through the EU as a middle-man does not imply that Trump is making some kind of anti-war move, or “washing his hands.” This is the status quo with a little bit of diversion to sell to Trump supporters and sympathizers, which seems to be working.

The war in Ukraine is a bipartisan war effort. Trump weakening his rhetoric signals to the GOP that additional funding might be acceptable. Trump views the war in Ukraine as Biden’s war, but money continues to be dispersed to Ukraine from previous aid packages. You could respond that the money legally has to be doled out, but this president has been pretty gung ho about ignoring the constitutional duty to apportion funds according to the congressional budget, so the administration also clearly believes it has the discretion to nix those funds, it’s simply chosen not to.

The GOP would like you to believe that it’s an anti-war party, and that Trump is an anti-war candidate, and that’s very amusing, given the continuation of the Ukraine war, the initiation of a drug war against Venezuela, and the plans to use military force against the “cartels” (which do not exist as the cop-bureaucrats in Washington believe they do) in Mexico. The US is gearing up for a major imperialist war. It is getting loads of experience for this in Ukraine, while simultaneously bleeding the manpower and resources of an arch geopolitical rival. Trump is just as much a representative of the US ruling class as Biden was, if not worse, since he has loyalties only to his economic class, the capitalist class.

Russia tied up in a direct war with Europe would suit the interests of the American nationalists.
Their interests are Venezuela, Iran China, all Russian allies.

I checked the recent Venezuela news articles and the American ‘opposition’ there believe Maduro will be ousted in the next weeks. US seems to have assembled a sizable force in Venezuela with a puppet government ready to take over.
From what I can make of it, Venezuela will be attacked internal by the pro American traitors and by the American force sitting off the coast. Going by the Trump admin modus operandi, the Americans will try for a decapitation strike and their proxies from within will do the rest with a it of US military backup if required.

And so we see this build upt to direct war between Europe and Russia at the same time the Americans are sitting off the coast of Venezuela.

Nothing brings a nation together like an invasion or attacking a relatively popular government.

I can’t see that, and I think that if you do, it’s an illusion. Starmer, Micron and the German nonentity whose name I can’t be bothered to remember, all have very, very low approval ratings, mainly because they are sending money to the Ukraine while cutting social spending. France is in a state of unrest, in Germany the AfD are forging ahead, and the ‘Labour’ Party in the UK are frothing like boiling jam (scum on top). Slovakia and Hungary (and Serbia) are pulling in the opposite direction to the rest in many ways. The Poles are at odds with the Ukraine too. Trump’s idea of military prowess is illustrated by his enthusiasm for the Gaza genocide. In his view if Russia was wiping out cities, demolishing homes and massacring civilians it would deserve his respect.
The fact that after three years Russia still restricts its campaigning to military targets, and employs a strategy designed, in the final analysis, to show Ukrainians that Russia does see them as brothers rather than inferior others to be eradicated by the master race is simply beyond the idiot President’s understanding.
And the same goes for Kellogg and the General Staff, all of them brought up in the Billy Mitchell tradition which worked so wonderfully in Vietnam and has produced, in the shape of the north Koreans, a gravedigger state with a grudge that 80% of Asia shares.

This is an empire at the end of its life- the US is retreating, from the World Island to the American periphery and taking the west of Europe which bore it down with it.
Its been 533 years since Columbus arrived and five hundred odd since Cortez extended the genocide to the mainland.
One constant is that, like George III, Trump is mad, unfortunately the Constitutional system can’t deal with the consequences. The parliamentary checks and balances have evaporated. And the result is what the world witnessed at the General Assembly- a man who has clearly forgotten that in some forums lies and empty threats earn their author nothing more than a thin layer of pity over a unfathomable contempt.
That having been noted- these are dangerous days, the US regime can see death coming and has nothing left to lose.

RE: America’s bifurcation w/ covfefe. Was it a good thing-? Or a bad thing-?
<<

Good or bad is immaterial.
Ask instead, was this bifurcation a necessary thing-?

Sans the Zionist, Israel-First element, I would say absolutely yes.

But please note that the U.S. governing structure has been pro-Zionist/Israel-First for many decades.

So it is difficult to assess covfefe without taking the Zionist underpinnings into account.

As Professor Mearsheimer has expressed, "It is unheard of for a country of 9 million people, Israel, to direct the foreign policy of a country of 350 million, the U.S.."

And yet this has been the case since *before* DJT's second presidential term.

So it is not as if DJT is unique in finding himself pincered-in by prevailing headwinds.

Yes, that’s exactly how I see it.

the US regime can see death coming and has nothing left to lose.

It’s an important point and I think about this all the time — are you sure that it “has nothing to lose”? There’s still so much money to be milked (e.g. from EUro vassals), so much personal luxury to be grabbed. Yes, the unipolar ambitions are fading out but take for example someone of the US capitalist class who is young and has inherited a lot of undeserved wealth. Why should a person like this support the end of the world? There’s an excellent life to be had!

Bottom line: I believe that most have a lot to lose. (You may be right about the US *regime* but most of the bastards will go on under different/smaller banners, if needed.)

The US arms business sells weapons and the systems to use them. In most cases the US controls who gets shot at, and provides the targeting system necessary. The country buying the armaments do not freely use the targeting system.in that way to US keeps control.
But it also means that the US is directly involved. A direct involvement, not a proxy involvement.
The US is at war with Russia. Russia sees it this way but the US seeks some sort of plausible deniability.
NATO is escalating the war to involve other countries. Their aim is obvious. Trump is trying to take a step back to avoid direct involvement. He held out to get a trade deal with Russia, but Russia didn’t want his deal. Now a furious back peddle.
Maybe in America Trump,s Art of the Deal negotiating style has worked for him. But in the current war it is reckless and he is out of his depth.
Dangerous times indeed.

Hilarious. President Trump isn’t forcing NATO to stop fighting Russia, by any means: the UK and the EU are, IN THEORY, modern industrialized nations who won’t need American help to deal with a country whose GDP is “the size of Portugal.”

In reality, many of these countries are trying to “defy” America on Palestine while running behind its skirts before Russia comes after them. They’re in quite a bit of trouble, and will likely be torn apart by civil strife as the lies of the Ukraine war come crashing down. You’d think more Europeans here would be happy with this- then again, they’re the ones who are going to fight, or else.

Trump has given the EU and neocon chicken hawks, and Zelensky, almost literally nothing of what they want.

Contrast this with 46th President Autopen.

The “almost literally” is not only relying on modern usage of literally as hyperbole, but weasel wording with almost. The fact is that Trump has and does give so-called neocons very much, even if it’s not as much as they want. Add in the equally hyperbolic nonsense about comparing to Biden, the implication is that Trump is the opposite. No, the opposite is not being as enthusiastic as Biden, the opposite is being actively anti-war (in Ukraine, at least.) The comparison between Biden and Trump is, Trump is less committed, not Trump is finessing a withdrawal. This comment is a lie.

Ukrainians are also Russians, in much the same way Egyptians and Moroccans are Arabs, or for that matter, Anglophone Canadians and US nationals are the same sort. Forgive me for not dotting the and crossing the t. But since we are blending Ukrainians and Russians together, consider that by this standard, Trump doesn’t want to take the blame for losing so much territory that had been conquered from the Russians. I would only add that it’s the American ruling class that Trump is trying to appease. I don’t believe he’s trying to manufacture excuses to cope with the political opposition of Democrats, a party that is coming apart at the seams in my opinion.

Posted by: steven t johnson | Sep 25 2025 23:12 utc | 144

Well neither Ukraine nor Europe will accept an end to the war where Russia retains its conquered territories and nothing Trump says will change their minds so….

Yeah it makes sense it’s sarcastic. All his attempts to find a compromise were met every form of evasion so have at it guys.

In a recent comment, a poster described a script they had written that allowed for the first line of a post to contain the details of the poster, whereas the current default puts those details at the end of the post. I meant to enquire more about this script, however I seem to have lost track of the post and now cannot find it.

If anybody or the original poster can help, I would like to implement this script. Thanks.

Alaska was Trump laying out economic inducements for a peace deal. Russia declined. Good diplomacy, as Russia will expect cash flow and Trump knows this. On the other side, the eurocucks can fight war as much as they choose.

Both have choices. Suffer the consequences, or make a deal and reap rewards. And the Blob loses. Excellent diplomacy.

No empires falls over, they fall to an enemy who pushes it over.
As for the American ruling class, I’m pretty sure they see the world as their empire, judging from the hundreds of foreign bases over so much of the planet. Also, judging from institutions like the IMF, the World Bank, etc. Heed also Trump’s swearing the dollar will stay the global reserve currency.
I don’t see the American ruling class as thinking they would be happy with the western hemisphere. I think they would rather feel, like a deranged husband killing his wife and kids when she tries to divorce him, that better the world were radioactive than not their empire. So, yes, dangerous days. In 1487 the Aztecs sacrificed 80,4000 Indigenous captives in four days.

When Cortez came the Indigenous peoples that had been sacrificed joined Cortez in conquering the Aztecs-without them Cortez would not have been successful.

You don’t know your history.

The Aztecs were just as bad as Cortez and the Spanish.

In 1487 there was no Spaniard to record the fact and to count the bodies.

Moreover this number is completely ludicrous and his pure propaganda and you fell for it.

It is like the 6 millions of WW2.

And you forgot to say what the “flower war” was. That is to take prisoners and not to kill the enemy during the war.

With no intention to destroy the other cities.

Read Las Casas to learn how and why the Spaniards genocided the people of Central America.

The Aztecs did not invade Europe.

He started by criticising the sh1te out of the UN which he has always detested.

He then praised himself again and again and again ….

Then he took the p1ss out of everyone in sight …. sarcasm – yes – and incredibly undiplomatic behaviour …. he basically shat on the floor of the UN… and then he once again fu€ked the Europeans up their arzes and to add salt to the little wounds demanded payment in a Trillion or so Dollars

Embarrassing is too mild a word.

I agree with some other posters above who have pushed back on the idea that Trump was being sarcastic. The idea that he was being sarcastic, to me, sounds like making more excuses for him, more cope, from those who have put too much faith into Trump as a politician.

First, Trump himself nominated Kellogg and he can remove him at any time. He doesn’t have be snarky and sarcastic in a Truth Social post. Just fire his dumb ass!

Second, the idea that a US president would resort to difficult-to-interpret “sarcasm” on important matters of war and peace, confusing everybody with his intentions, isn’t something that should be considered as a positive. If it’s true (and I’m not at all convinced that it is), it is a sign that we really are approaching peak Idiocracy. My two cents….

Posted by: ThouShalt | Sep 26 2025 0:23 utc | 161

It wasn’t sarcasm, he is not smart enough to use such a device. It was just hopium delivered to Europe and Ukraine spread thick and wide so that he and the US can extricate themselves from what it started and the disgusting mess it has made, blame everyone else, and above all an advertising sales pitch for buying more weapons off the US MIC. Then there was a another little turd sandwich for Russia because he hasn’t got what he personally wanted from Putin et al.

All this clown cares about is how much attention he gets in the media, exonerating himself of any blame or taking any responsibility for his and his country’s actions, and how much money the US can rip off from the world – particularly if he can put as much of that in his own pocket and the pockets of the Republican billionaire club.

Why are people after so many months, let alone years of the obvious, still trying to paint Trump as someone who is smarter than he actually is and as such apologizing for his incompetence, divisiveness, and rampant stupidity. He lives in a dream world and only gives a damn about himself and $$$. Nothing else. Wake up and take the bloody Red Pill.

Should the US run out of oil during Trump’s term, he would simply make an offer to Alberta to join the US. The Keystone XL pipeline is built; it just needs to be started up. Alberta has almost as much oil as Saudi Arabia.

Albertans are fed up with being held up by the rest of Canada, and particularly Quebec. If a serious offer was on the table from the US, I have little doubt that a referendum would succeed.

I’m not quite as certain as you are that it was “obviously” not sarcasm, because b and others have made what seem like they might be rational arguments for that interpretation, but all things considered, I don’t think it was sarcasm. I don’t really think Trump is as stupid as you say, but he does play that part very well. One thing that Trump always does is to purposely increase existing divisions and animosities along the Republican-Democrat and fake left-fake right modes of division by using intentionally combative language daily. He is the ultimate “divider, not a uniter”. Though the recent Democrats like Biden and Obama and, to a lesser extent, Bill Clinton certainly also played that game.

No other leaders in DJT’s quadrant of the world—NATO, G7, Europe—show anywhere near the dynamism or energy that he does.

You get what you get.

Naturally, when you represent the hegemonic nation, as DJT does, and you’re surrounded by compliant sycophantic vassals, who are incentivized not to act autonomously, you’re not going to find any leading lights within the mix.

This is all there is, guys.

It’s not inspirational, and it does not provide unbeatable material for the history books eventually, but it’s the most that this era can muster.

DJT.

Against this lackluster backdrop, Russia is rationally, measuredly and methodically deboning its opponent on the battlefield. It is doing so via strategically daring but sound & sturdy gains, starting with the sheer grit of Mariupol up through Lisy Chansk and, epically, shifting momentum indelibly, Bakhmut.

No one will forget The Stand against Ukraine’s Greatest Counteroffensive Ever in the summer of 2023 and how this fed toward a major pivot point in the conquest of Avdiivka. The terrikons and slag heaps, the surprise attack via a behind-the-LOC pipe, the micro-districts and fortifications, all of which eventually fell.

There’s been no going back since.

NATO’s militarism lacks points of pride of which to boast.

Think of Krynky
Think of Kursk

NATO obviously has a nose for disaster.

Nothing in the shift, so-called—or at least *some* people think—in DJT’s rhetoric changes the fact that NATO commanders have led the AFU convincingly and relentlessly toward battlefield defeat.

This is the best the West could throw against Russia.
See it.

It's not as if anyone is saying, "Gosh–Kaja Kallas, so estimable-! It would be fantastic for humankind if we could see her unleashed. If only Kaja Kallas could put the pedal to the metal… What couldn't she do-?"

It's not as if anyone can find a European or G7 or NATO figure hiding their light under a bushel, so overshadowed they are by DJT’s bloviating rambunctiousness.

So DJT’S quip about Rosie O’Donnell in the debate moderated by Megan Kelly wasn’t sarcasm? You guys really don’t know anything about New Yorkers.

If we do not wish to fight, we can prevent the enemy from engaging us even though the lines of our encampment be merely traced out on the good ground. All we need do is to throw something odd and unaccountable in his way. Sun Tzu, The Art of War.

Clearly, acting in such a way must be devoid of sarcasm because statecraft (If I recall correctly the example here was the commander of an inadequately garrisoned walled city under siege opened the gate each day and sent workmen out to sweep the path – no attack ever came).

I suppose anyone in the bar could accuse me of being a DJT apologist – it hasn’t happened yet, but fair enough (Not true – I actually revile governments). In my commentary here i am testing myself in interpreting the behavior of our leaders against the perceptions and beliefs of clearly nonUSAers. Maybe something can be learned.

Trump uses sarcasm all the time to defend his fat ego but in the case of painting a glowing account of Ukraine still being able to win the war in the context of Russia being a ‘paper tiger’ is purely a sales pitch for MIC. What else can they do? Who always profits from European wars?

The puppets in Europe who swallowed US intent over Ukraine previously, have also been caught with their pants down as Trump’s government which shows no continuity of taking any responsibility for provoking this war through its neocon influencers and former governments, abandons ship for the next wars elsewhere like Venezuela, the newest distraction. The United States is utilizing a new funding mechanism through NATO to supply weapons to Ukraine, with contributions from NATO member states covering the cost of U.S.-made military equipment. As of September 25, 2025, the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative has secured $2.1 billion in funding from NATO countries, enabling the purchase of American weapons for Ukraine.
The first military equipment delivered under this PURL mechanism has already arrived in Ukraine, with further shipments expected soon.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte confirmed that these supplies will continue continuously, with NATO countries financing the purchases.

The PURL initiative allows NATO member states to fund the purchase of U.S. weapons, which are then transferred to Ukraine, effectively shifting the financial burden from the U.S. to the alliance.
The first two military aid packages funded under PURL, announced on September 17, 2025, will include missiles for Patriot and HIMARS air defense systems.
The Trump administration approved the first NATO-financed weapons package for Ukraine in late September 2025, authorizing up to two $500 million shipments under the PURL framework.
The mechanism involves NATO countries depositing funds into special accounts managed by NATO and U.S. military leadership, which are then used to pay for U.S. weapons, either from existing stockpiles or newly procured.
While the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, and Sweden have committed to purchasing U.S. weapons for Ukraine, France and Italy have chosen not to participate due to differing strategic priorities regarding European defense industrial development.

The clincher, I think, comes in this part of DJT’s tweet:

“… I think Ukraine, with the support of the European Union, is in a position to fight and WIN all of Ukraine back in its original form …”

In other words, the Europeans still have to put their money where their mouths are, and demonstrate how much they support Keeev, and how far and how deep this support goes.

In the meantime, the US will continue to supply weapons to NATO – but this support (on face value) does not extend to putting boots on the ground in the Ukraine. It will be up to fellow NATO members as to how they use US weapons, and how they will pay for them.

Note that DJT’s tweet does not say that the US will supply weapons directly to the Ukraine. Wishing good luck to everyone (NATO, Russia, the Ukraine) seems to be DJT’s way of distancing, or trying to distance, himself and the US from Russia’s SMO in the Ukraine.

Edward Dowd was talking today about who benefits from the two halves of America hating each other. I agree with him.

Astute observers noted immediately that the difference was only in the rhetoric, current actions were unchanged. That is, EU is “buying” weapons that don’t exist with money it doesn’t have to continue this war, an endlessly “winning” strategy.

The whole idea is to keep up the pretense that we are a “Democracy” and that voting matters. I can guarantee you that in the 2028 pres election, the results will be around 51% to 49%. The last time there was a real landslide was Nixon vs McGovern in 1972. Nixon won by a landslide and then was put out of office by the Deep State

US mainstream media media milks the divide between Republican and Democrat, and so do the politicians on both sides. This causes the illusion of a wide division and the fueling of hate between both sides of the divide.

Yet nothing could be further from the truth. As astute Americans even observe themselves, they have only a monoparty that does the same deep state neocon things once elected, and treats ‘the people’ with contempt while supporting the corporate elites.

Fool the people, by the elites, for the elites $$$.

Nixon was a saint compared to what the US has now for leaders. He even resigned before he was impeached; now they couldn’t care less if they are impeached and carry on with impunity. And in Nixon’s day there were some honest and capable journalists that persisted in getting him out, and were critical of the war in Vietnam as well. Those days are well and truly over.

I’ve said it before. In the US, we have a media-run state. Not a state-run media. Big finance money like Blackrock, owns the media, and they run the govt.

It’s no different in my country, even the taxpayer funded state ABC news media is an American anti-Russian, anti-Chinese clone. When its not doing that it’s praising the British monarchy and its aristocratic establishment of elites.

Anyone can see this very clearly just by looking how many Trump appointments are Fox News talking heads.

Nice try, you must be blind or prone to the disease of gaslighting. Or a Trump gullibility syndrome victim.
