It’s not that it matters, it’s just a survey of the kind of intellectual arguments that can be brought to bear to justify genocide.
My conclusion:

Specifically w.r.t “lessons learned”, the IDF appear to have tried to learn some lessons around how to pull a tank into the base driveway without getting hijacked by AQB fighters.
Apparently they pull in nearer to the operating base before “popping the hatch” and getting out.
However one the the most recent incidents (late August) had them try this and still get whacked by AQB fighters who managed to shoot the tank commander as he was getting out of the hatch, then run up to the tank and drop an explosive device into it, killing the crew.
So, lessons are certainly being learned, and the Jews are a studious bunch, but learning a lesson and developing the muscle memory required to make it stick are two separate matters …

A good comparison to draw.
As I understand it the Mossad refused orders to get involved in the operation, so Netanyahu ordered the military to execute it.
The lack of Mossad involvement could explain the dramatic incompetence of this strike compared to “operation midnight hammer”.
