The speed at which First Brands’ finances have deteriorated has shocked debt investors, who were already unnerved by the sudden collapse into bankruptcy of Tricolor Holdings

Lenders to First Brands Group are rushing to shore up the car parts supplier with a new loan as it contemplates a bankruptcy filing.
First Brands, a privately held group that boomed through debt-fuelled acquisitions, has rattled US credit markets in recent days on concerns that billions of dollars of debt could be hit in a restructuring.
The company has borrowed nearly $6bn in private loans and has billions of dollars more in financing facilities linked to its customer and supplier invoices, much of which is not reflected in its official debt figures.
That off-balance sheet funding could eclipse $4bn, split across debt underpinned by money that customers owe First Brands and borrowings backed by its inventory, said people with knowledge of this financing.
A group of the company’s largest lenders is working with restructuring advisers to see if they can offer a rescue loan that ranks ahead of its existing debt.

Kirk doesn’t even come off as a hero, necessarily, in the account Blumenthal builds. It explains why the camera behind Kirk was removed within minutes of his death – a crime scene destruction surely?

Who was right ?
When the head of the Russian central bank kept hiking interest rates inflation kept moving higher.
For 6 years I have explaining that they have the whole thing backwards. That rate hikes are price hikes.
a) Via the interest income channels
Which is just a type of fiscal stimulas.
b) The cost of credit is in all goods and all goods and services. If interest on loans increase then that is passed onto the consumer as higher prices.
c) The spot and forward price for a non perishable commodity imply all storage costs, including interest expense. Therefore, with a permanent zero-rate policy, and assuming no other storage costs, the spot price of a commodity and its price for delivery any time in the future is the same. However, if rates were, say, 10%, the price of those commodities for delivery in the future would be 10% (annualised) higher. That is, a 10% rate implies a 10% continuous increase in prices, which is the textbook definition of inflation! It is the term structure of risk free rates itself that mirrors a term structure of prices which feeds into both the costs of production as well as the ability to pre-sell at higher prices, thereby establishing, by definition, inflation.
As per usual I got attacked at the bar by the ” sound money” clowns, the nutjobs. Who think and and analyse modern money via a gold standard type fixed exchange rate lens on a daily basis. Thus are as dumb as a bag of spanners.

As a BBC Disclosure reporter, I worked undercover as a cleaner in Castlehill Care Home in Inverness for seven weeks over the summer.

I also saw a female resident screaming in distress over male carers doing intimate personal care, due to chronic staff shortages.

She is excellent on the day to day stuff, but like many great critics, she has no larger perspective, no definite revolutionary program. She fills that lacuna with talk about ones personal journey to truth. She can also slip into misanthropy which is very dangerous and demoralizing for her young readers.
I love her to death. She’s truly a tribune of the people. But, as to the critical question of “what is to be done” she doesn’t have any real answer. It’s just more vague calls to “raise your voices, challenge the status quo, raise your level of consciousness”.
