A Bizarre Plan For Gaza
(I am still busy with cleaning up issues related to recent move this blog had to make. Original output is thus low. Please bear with me.)
U.S. President Donald Trump has announced (announced some a new plan for Gaza which is, as Larry Johnson says, dead on arrival.
The whole plan, notably vague on details, is published here. It foresees that Hamas releases all hostages and dissolves itself and thereby gives up all leverage it has in exchange for a vague promise of future peace.
A new external government would be installed over Gaza. The people living there would have no say in it. MEE explains the structure of the bizarre proposal to ‘govern’ Gaza.
This plan will be going nowhere. Netanyahoo has already promised to break it. The genocide in Gaza is set to continue.

Beijing Declaration to End the Division and Promote Palestinian National Unity
July 22, 2024
At the kind invitation of the People’s Republic of China to the Palestinian factions, an important round of Palestinian dialogues was held in Beijing. The aim was to unify the Palestinian position to confront the genocidal war and Israeli aggression, and to end the division in a way that fulfills the aspirations of the Palestinian people for national unity, freedom, and independence.
The participants expressed their high appreciation for the sincere efforts made by the People’s Republic of China, based on its support for the rights of the Palestinian people and its commitment to ending the division and unifying the Palestinian position. They affirmed the empowerment of our Arab brothers and our friends in the People’s Republic of China and the Russian Federation to continue international efforts to convene a fully empowered international conference to end the Israeli occupation and implement relevant international resolutions that are fair to the rights of the Palestinian people, under the auspices of the United Nations and with broad international and regional participation, as an alternative to the unilateral and biased American sponsorship.
In light of the war of extermination and criminal Zionist aggression to which our people are subjected, the Palestinian factions affirm the positive, constructive spirit that prevailed during the meeting. They agreed to achieve comprehensive Palestinian national unity, encompassing all Palestinian forces and factions within the framework of the Palestine Liberation Organization, the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people.
The Palestinian factions salute the steadfastness of our people, their valiant resistance, and their heroic struggle in confronting the genocide in the Gaza Strip, which has strengthened the status of the Palestinian cause and thwarted attempts to liquidate it. They also salute all forces, countries, and student, popular, and union solidarity movements that support the Palestinian people’s struggle on the ground, politically, legally, and diplomatically.
The factions affirm their firm rejection of all forms of guardianship and attempts to deprive the Palestinian people of their right to self-representation or to confiscate their independent national decision-making. The attendees agreed on the following points:
Unifying national efforts to confront the Zionist aggression and halt the genocidal war waged by the occupying state and its settler gangs, with the support and participation of the United States of America, resisting attempts to displace our people from their homeland, Palestine, and to compel the Zionist entity to end its occupation of the Gaza Strip and all other occupied territories, and to adhere to the unity of the Palestinian territories, including the West Bank, Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip.
The Palestinian factions welcome the opinion of the International Court of Justice, which affirmed the illegitimacy of the Israeli presence, occupation, and settlements on the land of the State of Palestine and the necessity of their removal as soon as possible.
Based on the National Accord Agreement signed in Cairo on May 4, 2011, and the Algiers Declaration signed on October 12, 2022, we will continue to follow up on the implementation of the agreements to end the division with the assistance of our sister countries, Egypt and Algeria, and our friends in the People’s Republic of China and the Russian Federation, as follows:
The following:
a) Commitment to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions, especially resolutions 181 and 2334, and ensuring the right of return in accordance with Resolution 194.
b) The right of the Palestinian people to resist and end the occupation in accordance with international law and the Charter of the United Nations, and the right of peoples to self-determination and their struggle to achieve this through all available means.
c) Formation of an interim national unity government with the agreement of the Palestinian factions and a decision from the President based on the applicable Palestinian Basic Law. The formed government shall exercise its powers and authorities over all Palestinian territories in a manner that affirms the unity of the West Bank, Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip. The government shall begin unifying all Palestinian institutions in the territories of the Palestinian state, begin the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, and prepare for holding general elections under the supervision of the Palestinian Central Elections Commission as soon as possible, in accordance with the approved Elections Law.
d) Until the practical steps for forming the new National Council are implemented in accordance with the approved election law, and in order to deepen the political partnership in shouldering national responsibility and developing the institutions of the Palestine Liberation Organization, the agreement was confirmed to activate and regularize the interim unified leadership framework for partnership in political decision-making in accordance with what was agreed upon in the Palestinian National Accord Document signed on May 4, 2011. Resisting and thwarting attempts to displace our people from their homeland, Palestine, especially from the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and Jerusalem, and emphasizing the illegitimacy of settlements and settlement expansion in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and General Assembly and the opinion of the International Court of Justice. Working to lift the brutal siege on our people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank and to deliver humanitarian and medical aid without restrictions or conditions. Supporting and backing the heroic steadfastness of our struggling people and their valiant resistance in Palestine to overcome the wounds and destruction caused by the criminal aggression, rebuilding what the occupation has destroyed, and supporting the families of the martyrs and the wounded, and all those who have lost their homes, properties and sources of livelihood. Confronting the occupation’s conspiracies and ongoing violations against the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and resisting any harm to it, the city of Jerusalem, and its Islamic and Christian sanctities. Paying tribute to the martyrs of the Palestinian people and affirming full support for the valiant male and female prisoners in the occupation’s prisons and camps who are subjected to various forms of torture and oppression, and prioritizing making every possible effort to free them from the occupation’s captivity.
In light of this declaration, the attendees agreed on a collective mechanism to implement the declaration’s provisions in all its aspects. It was decided to consider the meeting of the Secretary-Generals as a starting point for the urgent work of the joint national teams. It was also decided to set a timetable for the implementation of this declaration.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Palestinian factions collectively expressed their appreciation and gratitude for the efforts of the People’s Republic of China and its leadership in reaching this important national agreement.

Reposting my post from the last thread
The repercussions of this US/Israel/West “plan” are enormous, geopolitically, economically, politically, militarily and morally. The “plan” is pure colonialism. It can not be called neocolonial. The Palestinians are treated as objects, and are to be subjects of the colonial power US/Israel/West.The Palestinians who are fighting for their stolen homeland, for their inalienable rights as a people and for their freedom and independence are treated in the “plan” as THE threat to neighbours, a poorly veiled reference to Israel. The “plan” annuls the entire liberation struggle, the lives sacrificed in the long struggle and the current phase, and seeks to prevent it in the future.Israel, which has been committing grave international crimes from its inception, genocide for the last two years, and has been the constant destabilizing force in the region, is to be fully recognized and protected. The “plan” legitimizes Israel and consolidates its power over the entirety of historic Palestine; Israel (US/West) will thereby also reign over the entire ME, the obstacles remaining – Iran and Yemen. The “plan” is contrary to the numerous fresh recognitions of a phantom state of Palestine, engineered by France and Saudi, who applaude this “plan”, which eliminates the very idea of a Palestinian state. The “plan” is contrary to the touted “two-state solution”, so eagerly supported by two other big powers, I’m not even going to mention them. They don’t deserve it.The “plan” is contrary to the always cited UN resolutions and documents, as well as to the decisions of the International Court of Justice. The “plan” therefore DEMOLISHES any semblance left of an order based in the law, because it demolishes the law as such. The “plan” is a blueprint of taking over Gaza (the odious Trump said it will be US property) and “developing” it into a riviera, even though that is not explicitly mentioned in it. It is, however, clear as day that that is what Blair, the Arab regimes, and the Trump, are setting up, and will do.The “plan” is a total and final dispossession of the Palestinian people. The “plan” has removed any hope, and illusion, that the Arab (and Islamic states) at any point in time stood by and supported the Palestinians, and a fair, just and lawful solution to the most pressing problem in their region and the world. By hailing this total and final dispossession of the Palestinian people, they fully reveal their treachery and betrayal of their religion and their God. The “plan” is supported and hailed by a number of Islamic states that are either members of BRICS or wish to be. That says everything about BRICS true potential to bring about the kind of real change that humanity desperately needs and hopes for.The depth, full scope and consequences of this catastrophic development, if implemented, will cost the world much more than can be imagined and calculated at this moment.Just the mere fact that this kind of proposal, intention, “plan , has been drawn up, presented, and is seriously considered, is a heavy blow to humanity, objectively. For the decent, humane, responsible and moral part of humanity, this is a threat and a tragedy that must be averted, and can not be allowed to happen.
