News & views related to the war in Palestine …

Comments

Repost…..,
On August 20, Reserve General Yitzhak Brik, wrote an article in the Haaretz newspaper, stating the following:
• “Failure to follow orders, lack of oversight, and an inability to learn from mistakes remain common. Investigations lack credibility, and there is a culture of lies, low standards, and unprofessionalism. There is no operational discipline, and the high command fails to take responsibility. A conspiracy of silence prevails, along with a fear of expressing a different opinion for fear of personal harm. This outrageous behavior is deeply rooted in the DNA of the Israel Defense Forces.”
• “A total loss of trust on the part of combat soldiers and junior commanders in the IDF high command. This is reflected, among other things, in an extremely high percentage of reservists unwilling to serve and double-digit percentages of conscripts “fleeing” the war due to serious mental health problems, exhaustion, and lack of trust in their commanders. The ground army is crumbling in every way.”
• “Loss of professionalism due to a lack of education and training.”
• “A desperate shortage of professionals to maintain armored vehicles and weapons as a result of the elimination of thousands of professional non-commissioned officer and officer positions and the transfer of maintenance to civilian companies incapable of carrying out the task.”
• “A severe shortage of conscripts in the standing army as a result of thousands of war casualties and the inability to recruit others to replace them.”
• “A desperate shortage of reservists, who are voting with their feet and simply not responding to mobilization orders.”
• “Privatization of logistics through outsourcing to civilian companies that cannot meet the needs of a war.”
• “A severe personnel crisis in the reserve, conscription, and career service, one of the worst in the history of the IDF. The best career soldiers are leaving en masse, and young people are reluctant to enlist due to their deep disappointment with what has happened in recent years. It is a tragedy that the IDF is losing all its quality personnel at a dizzying rate; the consequences are disastrous.”

So Elbit has security cells across Britain, never ever trust the Brits.
“Keir Starmer’s government held a private meeting with Elbit Systems, Israel’s largest weapons company, Declassified has found.
The meeting occurred in December 2024 and was attended by three representatives from Elbit Systems and three officials from Yvette Cooper’s Home Office.
It took place months after Israeli forces used an Elbit drone to kill three British military veterans in Gaza who were protecting a humanitarian aid convoy.
The revelation comes in documents obtained by Declassified through a Freedom of Information (FOI) request to the Home Office, who refused to detail which officials were present or what was discussed.
It said that a recording of the meeting was made “but by mutual agreement [with Elbit] this was agreed… not to be released” through FOI.
Under the previous Conservative government, the Home Office also met with Elbit Systems and attempted to encourage the UK police to crack down on pro-Palestine activism.
Elbit’s efforts to counter Palestine Action in Britain seem to have gone even further. Declassified can reveal the company has its own “intelligence cell” and shares “information with the [UK] police across the country on a two weekly basis”.
Elbit did not respond to a request for comment.”
And it looks like Starmer will reward Elbit.
“Britain’s Ministry of Defence might imminently award a 15 year contract, worth £2.5bn, to a consortium headed by the British subsidiary of the Israeli arms firm Elbit Systems and including the US management consultancy firm, Bain and Company.
If successful, Elbit’s consortium would be responsible for training as many as 60,000 members of the UK military.
The consortium seems well-placed to win the contract; it is, in fact, one of only two shortlisted and preferred bidders.
The Ministry of Defence has already given the consortium a £2m contract so that it can develop its proposals further.
This is unacceptable. And it is frankly unbelievable that this consortium is even in the running considering its track record.
Elbit Systems UK is the fully-owned subsidiary of Elbit Systems Limited. Elbit Systems Limited is headquartered in Tel Aviv and is listed on both the Israeli and US stock exchanges.
Elbit is one of the two largest Israeli weapons manufacturers and is central to the IDF’s operations, providing 85% of its drones. Elbit International is also a major contributor to the F-35 fighter jet program, bragging that it plays a ‘critical role’ in the ‘success of the world’s most advanced fighter jet.’
In July 2025, Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur for the Occupied Palestine Territories, published an excoriating report setting out corporate complicity in Israel’s “plausibly” genocidal conduct in Gaza – for which she was subsequently sanctioned by Donald Trump.
Her report is clear that Elbit forms a central part of Israel’s military-industrial complex, which has become “the economic backbone of [Israel].”
“Elbit has cooperated closely on Israeli military operations, embedding key staff in the Ministry of Defence,” Albanese points out, further noting that Elbit provides “a critical domestic supply of weaponry.””

Okay, this is per Sohaib Press quoting from the Washington Post. The Trump/Kushner/Blair plan for Gaza is way worse than I even thought. It involves pressing the Palestinians to leave entirely, or to stay and work at one of Trump’s or Musk’s techno cities. If land-owning Palestinians desire to sell their property to the US, which would hold a 10-year trusteeship over Gaza, they would be paid in a crypto token, which would allow their land to be redeveloped and they could “invest” the token in the trusteeship. This “investment” in the scheme could reap them profits that they could use to settle elsewhere or to buy an apartment in the newly to-be-built “artificial intelligence-based smart cities”. Trump et al plan to build 6 to 8 of these cities in Gaza.
So, basically, the Palestinians who decide to remain would agree to work in one of Musk’s planned cities and rent from the company what they used to own, or they can sell their land and “invest” in some bullshit crypto scheme, make some hypothetical “profit” on a crypto coin picked by Trump and Musk (how much “profit” do think they will reap? and who would exchange some Trump meme coin for hard cash? Crypto is not real money. Period.)
Hey, but they get to live in a rented apartment they used to own and work for the Trumps, Kushners and Musk in a planned city where dissent is strictly prohibited, billionaires make the rules for the workers, there is no more Palestine or Gaza, and there is no more Palestinian society.
Or, they can get $5000 cash, four years of rent subsidies in another country, and free food for a year if they agree to move to another country altogether. And anyone who thinks the US and these wealthy asshats will follow through with that are deluded.
This is ethnic cleansing, even if some Palestinians remain. They would own nothing, work for the US/Musk/Trump. Their social mores and values, their social cohesion, would be totally extinct. There would be NO PALESTINIANS, NO PALESTINE.
This is why Trump wants Israel to kill as many as quickly as possible, and why they want no Palestinians at the UN meeting, and why Israel continues to refuse to discuss a cease-fire.
Here is the summary in the WaPo, posted by Sohaibpress:

The Washington Post:
Trump’s Gaza Plan:
The post-war plan for the Gaza Strip, circulating within the Trump administration and based on President Donald Trump’s declaration of “control” over the enclave, proposes turning Gaza into a US-administered trusteeship for at least 10 years, during which it would be transformed into a glittering tourist destination and a high-tech manufacturing center.
The document presents a scenario of at least a temporary evacuation of Gaza’s entire population—more than two million people—either through what it calls “voluntary departure” to another country, or by moving to enclosed, secured areas within the Strip during a period of reconstruction.
Landowners would be offered a digital token by the trusteeship fund in exchange for the rights to redevelop their property—a token that could be invested to finance a new life elsewhere or, in the future, converted into an apartment in one of six to eight “artificial intelligence-based smart cities” to be built in Gaza.
Every Palestinian who chooses to leave would receive a $5,000 cash grant, four years of rent subsidies elsewhere, and a year of food.

Sohaib points out in his next post:

Of course, Trump sees Gaza as an economic and investment opportunity for his projects, American capital, and companies, and he does not care about the people of Gaza or all of Palestine.

Staggering indeed – the EU bigwigs are utterly captured by the Zionists, EU citizens need to rise up and eject these b*stards that are giving the Zionists EU money.
“The Horizon Europe program, described by the EU as ‘a scientific research initiative to develop a sustainable and livable society in Europe,’ has awarded around 475 million euros to 348 Israeli start-ups and research projects since October 2023, many of which are run by former IDF soldiers and intelligence officers.
In 2024, the EU awarded grants of €220m to 179 companies and initiatives run by Israelis. The scale of this funding, coming in a year when the world’s pre-eminent genocide experts all declared Israel was committing a genocide, a year in which entire cities were wiped out and tens of thousands of civilians murdered, is staggering.”

Atrocity continues:
Registered = verified, true toll is much higher
75 to 125 people registered killed/martyred each day with numerous more injured. Aid seekers are 20 to 50 of those.
Starvation toll is registered as 5 to 10 people a day.
Various blatant massacres (bakery, tents, aid seekers)
Destruction of housing continues at scale.

A severe wave of influenza is hitting Gaza’s children… and medical wards are crowded with patients.” Youssef Fares
Speculation regarding Abu Obeida continues, mostly from “Israel” , claiming injured or asassinated. His brother is announced as previously captured.
Targeting continues in Lebanon.
Mobilisation for further invasion of Gaza continues.

A note to add to my @#6:
Traitorous Arab countries who would rather “invest” with the US/Israeli genociders than side with their Muslim brothers.
“Give us Barabbas,” present time.

A significant portion of the funding [for the Tump redevelopement plan] is likely to come from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, with the United States also keen to involve Qatar (but Israel is less so).

Will the Trump Resort/Gaza Graveyard Project succeed before Israel disappears from the map?
Will U.S. army boots enter Gaza with Trump Logo insignias for the greater glory of (insert marketing phrase here)?
Will the U.S. economy survive the reversion to zero interest rates, infinite debt, internal division, and obtuse, myopic Foreign thrashing(s)?

Horizon Europe is the major program for supporting scientific research in the EU. I think Starmer has now negotiated the possibility for British researchers to apply again (post-Brexit). If some of the money is being diverted to Israeli military start-ups, this will be a minor side-effect. I wouldn’t expect the Grayzone people to be able to make the correct distinctions. The Hebrew University in Jersualem is cited as a major source of evil but in fact it’s mainly a normal university doing all sorts of research in many different fields.
The real question will be: why does Israel and Israeli institutions have access to the program at all, for any research, as Israel is not a member of the European Union. No doubt an agreement was negotiated a long time ago, on the same sort of conditions as for Britain post-Brexit.
By the way Israel will also have to put money into the program, so it’s not exactly EU paying for Israeli military research. I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that Israel has to put in as much as it gets out.

nytimes Editorial Board on 31 August calling for Israel to allow international media into the Gaza Strip:
“Israel’s use of the double-tap tactic in urban warfare last week, in which 20 people died, including 5 journalists, is a sign of its disregard for civilian life and for the people trying to ascertain the truth of the war, namely journalists themselves. To date, only Palestinian media report from Gaza.
Keeping out the international media indicates that Israel’s leaders are trying to conceal the war’s full horror. It evokes the failed attempts by American leaders to bury the truth during the Vietnam War.
The ban also seems to be contributing to the Israeli government’s callousness toward the journalists who are covering the war.”

laguerre (23).
Some of the money – 475 million Euros is quite a bit, in anycase – no money should be awarded to the Zionists they are committing genocide, this shows us just how deep in bed with the Zionists the EU is.
It reads like you are trying to make a case, for giving genocide committing Zionists vital EU funding – maybe not intentionally but it certainly looks that way nonetheless.

Yemen’s Houthis seized UN rights office in Sanaa, UN official says
https://apnews.com/article/yemen-houthis-sanaa-un-crackdown-a1dc7c63b4ea61a8ab6fd97230a2739e
CAIRO (AP) — Yemen’s Houthi rebels stormed the headquarters of the United Nations’ Human Rights Office in the capital, Sanaa, seizing documents, furniture and vehicles, a senior U.N. official said Tuesday.
The seizure was the latest move in a crackdown by the Houthis on people working with the U.N., aid agencies and foreign embassies. The crackdown comes as the Iranian-backed rebels have been targeting shipping throughout the Red Sea corridor over the Israel-Hamas war in the Gaza Strip.
The rebels took over the U.N. Human Rights Office’s premises in Sanaa on Aug. 3, after forcing U.N. Yemeni workers to hand over belongings, including documents, furniture and vehicles, U.N. Human Rights Chief Volker Türk said in a statement.
“Ansar Allah forces must leave the premises and return all assets and belongings immediately,” Türk said, using the official name of the Houthis.
A spokesman for the Houthis didn’t return phone calls and messages requesting comment.
The U.N.’s Human Rights Office said it had suspended the office’s operations in Sanaa and other Yemeni areas controlled by the Houthis following the June crackdown campaign. But it still operates in the parts of Yemen controlled by the internationally recognized government.

This is a worthy read, IMO.

what John Mearsheimer says here is very important, and it explains why the Israeli death-cult is gleefully committing its genocidal mass beheading, maiming, burning alive, starvation, rape and killing of babies, children, women and men in Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, Iran with no end in sight.
They’re doing it publicly, openly, proudly. Israelis love it, they can’t get enough of the images and videos of death and destruction, they zoom in on the wounds of children who are crying for their murdered parents and siblings, and they laugh and rejoice.
Why? Do they not realize how bad this looks for them to the outside world? Yes, of course the dirty browns and blacks in the world have no value, their opinions are nothing to Zionists, but the good white goys in the West, in the US, they also see this despite the censorship imposed by their regimes and their billionaires who control every social media app.
Are they not worried about that? The polls are shifting against them, despite the trillions in propaganda spent over decades to ensure the good goys stay on side, especially in America.
But Mearsheimer explains why they are not worried at all about this. Because they believe they can make everyone forget.
We will make everyone forget what we did, because we write the history. We own the social media apps. We own the universities now. We own the media, the New York Times, BBC, AP, Reuters, Guardian, Washington Post, and they are the ones who determine reality.
We own everything, and we will make the goys forget.
That is what they are relying on, to erase reality, to memory-hole their genocidal mass murder and rape, to erase it from existence, and they will invest trillions of dollars in censorship and control and propaganda to this end. They are already doing it. They have already taken over the universities. They already owned the media. They owned every major cultural producer. They will make movies about how heroic they were, how brave they were. They will even do movies like Waltz With Bashir for the liberal progressive hippie crowd, to fake cry and go “ohhh we did such bad things sort of kind of, but it mostly was bad on us, the PTSD we suffer, they made us kill and rape their babies and children!!! WOE IS ME!!!”
That is why they are doing all this so publicly and proudly and gleefully.
It is our holy sacred duty as humanity to never let them get away with this. To never let them erase their sadistic murderous genocidal sub-human depravity.
We it to every baby and child and woman and man they massacred and raped to never let them be erased, no how much money, resources and power these Zionist scum have and will deploy to try to make it so.

Even more on the Trump/Kushner/Blair/Musk plan to take over Gaza.
The plan was drafted by two Isreali “entrepreneurs” and the financial modeling was done by the Boston Consulting Group (BCG). The Boston group was affiliated with the “aid” sites run by GHF, which are merely fronts for killing hungry Palestinians who show up hoping for food.
BCG ended its association with the aid group in May this year and claimed to have fired the two “rogue” employees who worked on the GHF sites without authorization. (Despite having given “no authorization” to its employees, the BCG billed the GHF one million dollars a month until May, per the Washington Post.)
Another project worked on by the BCG team was called “Project Aurora”, which modeled the costs of sending Palestinians to other countries, and offering financial perks to them for moving out of Gaza into places such as Egypt, Jordan, Somalia, Libya, etc.
BCG’s financial modeling showed that it would cost $23,000 less per person to expel them to other countries rather than housing them in concentration camps permanantly.
Now we know where Trump got this idea from. Since the idea has been widely critisized by humanitarian groups, the “Aurora Plan” was not used as part of the food “aid” program, as originally planned. So Trump then trotted out the Aurora Plan by itself (pay the Palestinians to leave) and finally, when it appeared that not too many countries were keen on helping with ethnic cleansing, he has incorporated it as the basis into his new Trump/Kushner plan.
The US has always been really gleeful at any opportunity to take land and resources from other countries. This is the first time, I think, that this illegal theft and let’s face it – planned genocide – of another country is being done for the enrichment and benefit of just a few rich, greedy bastards. Because you KNOW that in the fine print, the money taken in from their Riviera on the Med will go almost in toto to Trump, Kushner, Blair, Musk and Netanyahu.
Ethnic cleansing and genocide of 2 million Palestinians for a few endlessly greedy and cruel oligarchs, watched with blase and bored shrugs from most of the leaders and politicians of the rest of the world.
What kind of place has humanity created for itself? I do not think there is much hope that other countries will be spared this sort of planned wreckage to benefit the next generation of the wealthy. We are all in line to be victims of the ironicallly named “Project Aurora”. [Aurora being the goddess of the dawn, signifying a new and better day.]

Washington (Quds News Network)- A leaked plan circulating within the Trump administration proposes forcibly removing Gaza’s 2 million Palestinians and turning the enclave into a US-controlled ‘economic hub’, reported the Washington Post. The scheme, called the ‘Gaza Reconstitution, Economic Acceleration and Transformation Trust (GREAT Trust)’, would replace Gaza’s native population with a new workforce and tourists while creating luxury resorts, high-tech cities, and industrial zones.
The 38-page proposal suggests “temporarily relocating Palestinians” either abroad or to heavily secured concentration camps inside Gaza. Palestinian landowners would receive “digital tokens” redeemable for apartments in new “smart cities” or to finance life elsewhere. Each expelled Palestinian could receive $5,000, four years of rent, and a year of food.
Planners estimate expelling residents would save $23,000 per person compared to putting them in concentration camps. Experts warn that incentivizing or forcing people from their homes under any circumstances amounts to ethnic cleansing and violates international law.
The plan was drafted by Israeli entrepreneurs Michael Eisenberg and Liran Tancman, with financial modeling by Boston Consulting Group. Trump repeatedly described Gaza as a “Riviera of the Middle East” and said the United States would “take over” the Strip.
The GREAT Trust envisions luxury resorts along Gaza’s coast, AI-powered smart cities, industrial zones, a port, and an airport. The plan claims these projects would create up to a million jobs, but only for a new population installed by the trust. Palestinians who refuse to leave face exclusion from reconstruction benefits.
Most Palestinians reject relocation entirely. Legal experts say any plan that prevents Palestinians from returning or inadequately supports them constitutes ethnic cleansing.
The plan emerges amid Israel’s ongoing genocide, which has killed tens of thousands, displaced hundreds of thousands, and left Gaza in ruins. Arab nations have proposed alternatives supporting Palestinian self-rule, but the GREAT Trust envisions Gaza under US-Israel control, with no path to Palestinian statehood.

Posted by: Ahenobarbus | Aug 31 2025 22:40 utc | 45

@30 Aheno
I’ll reply to that, and without condoning the idea.
The logic presented is sound (unless one believes in full spectrum dominance or similar), and could apply to any country ‘aiding and abeting’ , but it just so happens that the US is the main culprit, and is the nation that if support was withdrawn would fold the whole genocidal project.
It is in fact straightforward:
The US is the main country that is openly supplying armament, support, and funding for the genocide. That is to say it is as good as commiting the acts itself, because it is pivotal.
The US will not change its position by vote, popular disapproval, or protest.
What a US’ian says at a poll, or that they suffer getting roughed up or losing their career, is close to nothing compared to what the Palestinians are being put through. I don’t say it is insincere on the part of those US’ians, only that it cannot be compared (but for a very very few examples).
However, it still stands that the resources needed to enable the genocide are drawn from the US citizens, meaning unless they find a way to deny that, which frankly is not likely to happen, they are and will be considered complicit (as a whole).
I don’t like aggregate (or indiscriminate) accounting, nor do you I think. US’ians (amongst many) are subscribed to it though, because the system they live in and take part in, works by aggregate. Aggregate of votes, aggregate of economic activity, aggregate of taxation for policy and spending in the name of the aggregate.
What would make them as a whole ‘change their minds’ into ensuring that the genocide was not allowed to continue, what would make them protest the genocidal actions taken in their name to the point of overuling the current direction ?
Voting in two years time is not good enough. Protesting in a rather selective or restrictes manner neither. Answering polls by showing support against genocide neither.
We know that even international co-ordination against the US or “Israel” is very limited, is on a leash also.
Which is where the OP comment comes in. If for every US bomb, dropped on civilians in Gaza, one was dropped on civilians in the US, the genocide would likely not even have started, let alone be allowed to continue.
For reasons obvious enough.
For example.
I will say that OP’s post happened to coincide with an apparent ban on allowing Palestinians into the US, said without judgement and assuming OP would also understand why that might pose reason to question.

In support of the oppressed Palestinian people, Yemen fought the promised battle of conquest and holy jihad, attaining great honor and offering convoys of martyrs from the heroes of the armed forces and other sons of the great Yemeni people who carried the banner and pledged to God to remain steadfast in the truth no matter the cost.
Today, in the midst of the open battle with the Israeli enemy entity, we mourn to our people and our nation a new group of great martyrs from among the national leaders who represent the Yemeni people in all their diversity. We announce the martyrdom of Mujahid Ahmed Ghaleb Al-Rahwi, Prime Minister of the Government of Change and Construction, along with a number of his fellow ministers.
The criminal, treacherous Israeli enemy targeted them during a routine workshop held by the government to evaluate its activities and performance over the course of its year of operation. Others of their comrades were wounded with moderate and serious injuries and are currently receiving medical care. This occurred on the afternoon of Thursday, the fifth of Rabi’ al-Awwal 1447 AH.

Concern Mounts After Professor Calls For Military Support to Hamas
https://www.montrealgazette.com/news/article1127490.html
“…I used to think BDS was a good idea. I’ve come around, though: nothing short of ‘full economic and military support for Hamas and Hezbollah’ is appropriate.
In an email Tuesday night to the Gazette, [Prof William Clare] Roberts defended his post, arguing that Western governments were failing to stop Israel’s ‘genocidal assault’ on Gaza. ‘I think we need to go much further,’ he wrote.
‘We – and I mean all democratic nations – need to begin to supporting, supplying and even arming the Palestinians and Lebanese forces that can resist Israel. There should be a no-fly zone over Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon.’
Roberts acknowledged Hamas and Hezbollah are designated terrorist entities. ‘Of course I’m aware of that – it is a policy I would like the Canadian government to change,’ he said.
Anthony Housefather, a Liberal MP [for Israel] in Montreal called Roberts comments ‘irresponsible and unbecoming of a professor at a university, to say the very least.’
Housefather said he has raised the issue with McGill administrators, the Public Safety Ministry, and the RCMP…”
Bravo Prof William Clare Roberts! Zionist Housefather: you, Israel and your evil lobby can go to hell!

My thinking is that this is the US ripping off the mask of impartiality from the UN organizations it created, making sure the top leadership is stacked with loyalists. Esp as the ICJ is currently the primary organ that could create the legal framework under international law for multilateral sanctions against Israel.

Its not so clear cut, the offices include organisations like the UN Development Program, UN World Food program, Unicef to name a few. They provide aid to Yemen and are also channels from which countries like China would provide assistance. In the past these organisations have come out with quite strong statements against Israel. They’re also part of the aid organisations that help Palestinians in Gaza.
Maybe they’re infiltrated by spies, maybe they’re not. But the reason they were allowed to be there was because they were of help to Yemen. I do like how Yemen is serious about their internal security in the wake of the latest attacks though. They’re not afraid to make arrests and seize documents in response to make sure. Which is more than I can say for Iran, who has arrested none of the IAEA, despite now public media confirmation that Grossi was on the take and have actually let them back inside the country again.

Also this could be the result of increasing AI integration in various UN bodies similar to their encroachment in governments world wide (eg: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8GqZ073kP00)
Data saved by the UN aid organisations could inadvertently contain metadata which could be used by Palantir type bulk analysis AI to provide targeting information to Israel. So even if the people in local Yemen offices are not spies and are really there to do humanitarian work, the information they upload to the UN/Google/prop cloud servers could be copied by US/Israeli firms and used against Yemen.
It’s a whole new op-sec environment that would require Yemen to have stricter oversight on what information these NGOs are allowed to record and/or new requirements for data siloing to be drafted.

“No soup for you!” Once in Brics, a collection of some of biggest sponsors of Israel, you must accept everything and be part of all conventions ever invented, but few follow those rules and conventions, and surely not Israel. So basically Iran will have to let IAEA guide the strikes again, like OSCE guided strikes in Donbass. All approved, it’s the rules. No weapons will be sold to them, no support, nothing. Free trade and weapon sales, S400s, can only exist for Israel-friendly or Nato-members/friendly countries. They can’t respond again to US-Israel attacks or their Brics partners will sanction them at UN level, like they do to Yemen where probably some UN or other “peace” thingy guides strikes too. That makes that Saudi guy a genius, he quit before he entered.
You can bet Russia and China are more interested in preventing Iran from playing with nuclear materials than US or Israel are. If they don’t stop them, all angry clowns at their borders will “develop” nukes overnight.

I don’t agree with your argument but I also think CN and RU trying to abide by the international law and conventions that the US created is dumb.
However Iran is free to go the North Korea route if they have the political will to so. In the end Iranians run their country, not China, not Russia. I would even go further to say this is the smarter choice.
There’s more nuance to international diplomacy than it meets the surface. If Iran goes to develop nukes, publicly China and Russia would likely say negatively things about it, but behind the scenes they’ll be cheering Iran on as it’d allow them to play good cop bad cop to advance their interests in a similar dynamic to the US and Israel.
Behind the niceties of diplomacy, actual force is more important. If Iran could get its act together to become a credible force in the mid east, China and Russia would be much happier to have it as a strategic partner than a country that keeps asking for aid.

After all, Israel can claim that stating that there was no Jewish monotheism before 300 BC, and therefore no Moses, is antisemitism, precisely because under US influence, the EU has accepted to “protect” sectarian movements and allow them to be get public funding (for their schools, as in France funding the “semi-private” schools).
This feat is the result of decades of work by the “Christian democrat” parties, who need the brand “Christian” to play on identity politics and be the king makers of any coalition where they are allowed to exist.
Behind them is also the work of the “Oxford group” and other “Moral re-armament” for a century.

They weren’t infiltrated.
The entire organization was designed to be a conduit for Western Colonial operations in perpetuity.
Enough of the gullible were mixed into the system to provide the perfect cover for a long term, persistent network that didn’t just infiltrate the UN but actually preceded it.

No, France, not the CIA, gave Israel the bomb:
“As part of their military alliance during the Suez Crisis in 1956 the French agreed to secretly build the Dimona nuclear reactor in Israel and soon after agreed to construct a reprocessing plant for the extraction of plutonium at the site.”

You can bet Russia and China are more interested in preventing Iran from playing with nuclear materials than US or Israel are. If they don’t stop them, all angry clowns at their borders will “develop” nukes overnight.
Posted by: rk | Sep 1 2025 7:15 utc | 78
Russia and China can do squat if Iran decides to go nuclear.
Iran holds all the cards.
They could:
1. Look the other way as terrorists of every stripe and colour stream into Russia from the Caucasus.
2. Give the middle finger to China’s BRI hopes from central Asia to Yemen and further.
And still sell oil with a smile.
If the Chinese and Russians get really nasty they could put lethal missiles into the hands of groups neither China nor Russia likes.
Iran holds all the cards.

Gaza plays an important role in the early history of Islam, and of Mohammed. Non-Muslim documents contemporaneous with the last years of Mohammed tell a very interesting story about Mohammed’s death and death year:
FROM “Investigating Islam from documents dating back to the origins recently Found” – JJ Walter
Chapter 11 Muhammad’s death
Caliphal history claims that by 634 Muhammad had been dead for two years, and that he had been replaced by Abu Bakr, the supposed caliph from 632 to 634. Non-Muslim documents contradict this assertion. They date from a few years after the event, whereas the Muslim documents were written more than two centuries later. Let’s take a look at the non-Muslim documents …
Sophronius, Patriarch of Jerusalem
The Patriarch refers to the Battle of Gaza in 634, when the Muslims were victorious. He indicates that the Muslims already had a global vision :
They boast that they dominate the whole world by imitating their leader continuously and without restraint.
To convince his men that they were going to conquer the whole world, this leader was necessarily a charismatic man. Muhammad’s own general could hardly have had such influence. There is a presumption that this leader was Muhammad himself, and that, contrary to the caliphal story, he had not died in 632, since he was attempting to conquer Jerusalem in 634.
Thomas the presbyter
This Jacobite priest lived in Resaina, in what is now Iraq. He wrote in 640, just six years after the events he recounts :
In the year 945 Indiction VII, at 9 a.m. on Friday 4 Shebat (this date in the Byzantine calendar corresponds to February 4, 634 A.D.), the Romans (Byzantines) fought against Mohammed’s Tayaye (Arabs) in Palestine, 12 miles east of Gaza. The Romans fled, leaving behind the patrice Bar Yardan, whom the Tayaye killed. Some 4,000 poor Palestinian peasants, Christians, Jews and Samaritans were killed there. And the Tayaye devastated the whole region.
This text affirms that Mohammed was indeed the leader in command at the battle of Gaza: Mohammed was still alive in 634. This information is not given, as it is in traditional Muslim history, by authors writing two centuries after the fact, under the control of the caliphs, and who derive their information from chains of witnesses, most of whom we know nothing about apart from the alleged name. The author is a contemporary of Mohammed, whose non-Muslim works escaped the censorship of the caliphs. …
However, it was Mohammed, victorious in Gaza, who entered Jerusalem in 634, and it was therefore he who began rebuilding Solomon’s Temple – an emergency in Nazarene theology – and it was he who was assassinated after three months. …
The various texts we have just seen indicate that Mohammed was still alive two years after the supposed date of his death. Caliphal history concealed the actual date and circumstances because it could not say that he had been assassinated at that time in Jerusalem: apart from the fact that this was an inglorious end, it would have been difficult to conceal the origins of Islam if Muhammad’s first act after his victory in Gaza had been to rush there to rebuild the Temple.

Posted by: LoveDonbass | Aug 31 2025 19:51 utc | 35

I found the “worthy read” to start off misleading.
It sounds as if it is John Mearsheimer *himself* relating how Israelis take
pleasure, “they laugh and rejoice”, in scenes of wounded children.
No, it is not John Mearsheimer saying those things. It is some guy posting as “zei squirrel”.
Seems like a cheap slight-of-hand tactic IMO:
1) “what John Mearsheimer says here is very important”,
2) “and it explains why…”, it is the squirrel explaining why.

Of course frequently the Christian sources didn’t know much about the early Muslims, and didn’t think it was a separate religion. There’s no great point in believing everything a priest from Iraq is going to have said, 1000 km away from the events in question. Much the same with the early sources on Jesus.

I wondered when some Zionist politician would think of this – give the Americans who serve in the IDF the same benefits that they would get serving in the US military. The number currently serving is rather higher than I thought it would be. Maybe these valient warriors will be called to the Hague some day to answer for their war crimes. One can only hope.

Serving in the military is the ultimate test of loyalty. When young Americans raise their right hand, they pledge to defend their nation, their Constitution, their people. Yet for many young Americans, that oath is NOT made to the United States military. Instead, they pack their bags, fly across the Atlantic, and enlist in a foreign army—the Israeli War Machine, aka, Israeli Defense Forces (IDF).
The numbers speak loudly. According to the Washington Post, 23,000 Jewish American citizens are currently serving in the Israeli military. By contrast, U.S. Department of Defense data shows that in 2006 fewer than 4,000 American service members identified as Jewish. A later DoD report, released in January 2019, placed the figure at roughly 0.4 percent of active-duty personnel. Put simply, more Jewish Americans—both in raw numbers and percentage—serve under the misappropriated Star of David than under the Stars and Stripes.
Naturally, many new Americans maintain personal cultural and ancestral ties to their homelands—a land they actually come from, with real last names, not Hebraized East European family names. Furthermore, no group has a lobby dedicated to serving a foreign country, like AIPAC. Mexican Americans celebrate Mexico’s victory on Cinco de Mayo, but do not promote enlisting in Mexico’s military. Irish Americans rejoice Saint Patrick’s Day, but had not lined up to join the Irish Republican Army. No ethnic American group raises nonprofit tax-deductible funds for a foreign army, other than the Jewish billionaires, who bankroll “Friends of the IDF.”
Controlled by this foreign lobby, Congress not only tolerates this Israeli exception, it tries to reward it. Two Jewish Republican lawmakers; Guy Reschenthaler and Max Miller, have proposed legislation, H.R. 8445, to amend the American Servicemembers Civil Relief Act to include (Jewish) Americans serving in the Israeli army. If passed, it would grant these “foreign” soldiers the same benefits reserved for Americans in uniform.
Let that sink in: Israeli (American) soldiers would have the same protections as American army soldiers. An Israeli soldier starving babies and committing a war crime in Gaza would be legally indistinguishable from an American Marine guarding Camp Pendleton.
When it comes to Israel though, AIPAC, through the disproportionate Jewish representation in both Houses—three to five times higher than their share of the U.S. adult population—exerts outsized clout. Combine this with the campaign finance power over other elected officials, AIPAC can flex its muscles to institutionalize the Israeli exception. In any case, if this is good for Israeli (American) soldiers, why not provide all Americans serving in foreign armies the same benefits? Maybe for Muslim American soldiers, if any, serving in Pakistan or Egypt. Such idea would most likely cause a revolt in Washington. Accusations of dual loyalty, even treason, would dominate the headlines. Why not in the Israeli exception case? […]

“A Knesset member from Netanyahu’s ruling Likud Party (which by Israel’s deranged standards is a mainstream political party) has asked Israel’s Chief Police Commissioner to seek the death sentence or life imprisonment for Yuli Novak, the executive director of the Israeli human rights group B’Tselem.
The move followed a speech delivered by Novak on September 4 at the United Nations Security Council.”
Also.
Itamar Ben-Gvir, who is an Israeli politician and is/was Minister for National Security in Israel – and is he’s is also the leader of Otzma Yehudit a Jewish Power Group, he (Ben-Gvir) wants the people on the flotilla heading for Gaza designated as terrorists.
Of course the Brits are already arresting those who support Palestine, and (Palestine Action) and charging them with terrorism.
