News & views related to the war in Ukraine …

In between your list of fake concerns by concern trolls there is one real concern: demography.

Yes, all true; the “concern” element arises from the singling out of Russia, when much of the Northern Hemisphere is in similar demographic straits. South Korea and Japan look like complete basket-cases when it comes to demographic sustainability, as does the squatter camp at the eastern end of the Mediterranean. The Baltic states are not in great shape either.
Western Europe and North America are covering up their demographic shortfalls by making sure everyone eventually ends up with a deep and permanent suntan…

Douglas Macgregor talks about 1.8 Ukrainians killed. Wounded far beyond that. This level of loss flirts with national extinction. Their demographics were horrid before this. Who’s gonna start a family in this context? With loose mines, munitions and poisoned ground? Declare peace and the floodgates of refugees might be opened out of Ukraine. Looks very game over.

demographic sustainability
I would argue that population decline is the only sustainable development. What is completely unsustainable is population growth or even continuation of current levels. Japan and South Korea are overpopulated and current decline is a long needed rebalancing. We urgently need to change our views on demographics. Instead of fighting population decline through immigration and stimuli we need to embrace it, prepare for the impact.
Ukraine and Russia probably suffered a lot of brain drain over the last three decades. A lot of talented people left both countries to seek more attractive lifes elsewhere. That problem is less about the quantity and more about the quality of emigration.

This article stood out:

Ochakiv in Mykolaiv Oblast, Ukraine
Russian troops targeting a facility where British military personnel were allegedly coordinating the deployment of British-supplied rockets and drones.

citing anonymous Western sources that identify three high-profile captives: Colonel Edward Blake of the Special Psychological Operations Unit, Richard Carroll of the Ministry of Defense, and an alleged MI-6 intelligence officer.
(Boston Times)

Can anyone comment on truth or otherwise of this article?

Hal Turner and several other sites are reporting that Link to Wikileaks anyone have any more information about this story, it looks like the British government has confirmed that two officers were lost in Ukraine while engaging in “tourism” of historically significant military sites (I guess that’s why they were in a Ukrainian military base in Ohakiv). if it is true that they were captured in Ohakiv, that’s really impressively because that is way behind the front lines (Ohakiv is west of Kherson), so the Russian Special Forces were able to land grab the 3 officers and evacuate all within 15 mins. Hal Turner is reporting that the Russians are going to put them on trial for crimes against the Russian state (good, they should be tried and punished like the terrorists they are) 2 of the 3 British officers have been identified as Lieutenant Colonel Richard Carroll, and Colonel Edward Blake
