Salt in Their Hands – Mo Abualruz

In Gaza’s dusk where silence swells,
The children wait by broken wells.
No bread to break, no songs to sing,
Just buzzing drones and circling wing.

They gather near the aid-line fence,
Starved eyes behind a wire’s defense.
A bag of rice, a shattered tin…
But boots and bullets thunder in.

No warning call, no shelter near,
Just screaming metal, dust, and fear.
They came for food. They found a gun.
Their bodies crumble, one by one.

The mothers wrap them cloth by cloth,
Their mouths too dry to speak or sob.
While leaders meet with ink and scorn,
Another child goes unborn.

Fields are ash. The sea runs dry.
The stars look down, but don’t reply.
The world debates what law allows
While famine grips with iron vows.

And still they stand with salt in hands,
Dreams buried deep beneath the sands.
Not beasts, not threats… just flesh and bone
Left starving, broken, and alone.

But shame runs deepest not abroad,
Not in the stranger's cold applaud…
But in the hearts that know the tongue,
The ancient songs their mothers sung.

The ones who kneel and fast and pray,
Yet let their kin be burned away.
Not out of chains, nor lack of might…
But fear to speak, or loss of right.

They watched the skies rain steel and flame,
And whispered not a single name.
Their silence louder than the blast,
Their comfort bought while Gaza passed.

What is a bond if not this thread…
To raise the dying, shield the dead?
What is a neighbor, if not near,
When cries of mercy fill the air?

Not all are guilty…
but the stain Will mark the silent just the same.
For complicity wears no badge,
But it is carved on every page.

So carve it clear in every tongue:
They died for food beneath the sun.
Not in war, nor with a sword…
But for the crime of being ignored

Quran Chapter 69: 13-37 (English translation by Abdel Haleem)
The Inevitable Hour
When the Trumpet is sounded a single time, when the earth and its mountains are raised high and then crushed with a single blow, on that Day the Great Event will come to pass. The sky will
be torn apart on that Day, it will be so frail. The angels will be on all sides of it and, on that Day, eight of them will bear the throne of your Lord above them. On that Day you will be brought to judgement and none of your secrets will remain hidden. Anyone who is given his Record in his right hand will say, ‘Here is my Record, read it. I knew I would meet my Reckoning,’ and so he will have a
pleasant life in a lofty Garden, with clustered fruit within his reach. It will be said, ‘Eat and drink to your heart’s content as a reward for what you have done in days gone by.’
But anyone who is given his Record in his left hand will say, ‘If only I had never been given any Record and knew nothing of my Reckoning. How I wish death had been the end of me. My wealth has been no use to me, and my power has vanished.’ ‘Take him, put a collar on him, lead him to burn in the blazing Fire, and [bind him] in a chain seventy metres a long: he would not believe in Almighty God, he never encouraged feeding the hungry, so today he has no real friend here, and the only food he has is the filth that only sinners eat.’

Bringing this over from the last Palestinian thread.
The starving are now the dying in Palestine. I think that once the tipping point has arrived, as it has now, it is too late to save many of those who are so malnourished, even if you can get them to a hospital.
May the killers who created and/or abetted in this situation and those who carry out the orders die in like fashion themselves, but with a hundred times the pain.

133 martyrs, including 3 children due to malnutrition, and 38 people waiting for aid, as a result of the occupation’s bombing of the Gaza Strip since dawn today [Sunday].
Note – the number of dead has now risen from 38 killed while waiting for aid to 73 killed while waiting for aid. This is from a couple of locations across the Gaza Strip.

On a gray afternoon of a stifling day, dozens of young men emerged from the rubble and scattered tents north of the Gaza Strip, running with faint hope toward a point they were promised would hold “flour,” the remaining life in a land of death.
According to field testimonies, they approached the “oasis”—the point to which aid is delivered—carrying nothing but empty stomachs and a fragile hope. Suddenly, a voice echoed from afar…
“Raise your hands and pass in front of the tanks. Whoever wants flour, come forward.”
About 200 young men advanced, barefoot and hungry, walking as if on a death column with no end in sight. As soon as they approached the bags of flour, heavy fire was opened directly at their heads…
100 of them collapsed, wounded, and nearly 40 were martyred in an instant. Those who survived crawled under the bullets, suffocating from the smell of blood and smoke.
It wasn’t a scene from a Hollywood movie, but a real scene from Gaza, where flour becomes a trap, hunger becomes an ambush, and people become targets.
This is how people are executed in Gaza…over a sack of flour.

Infant Jawad Al-Anqar Becomes 70th Child to Die from Starvation in Gaza
Gaza (Quds News Network)- The health crisis in Gaza deepened today as 35-day-old infant Jawad Al-Anqar died from severe malnutrition in Al-Shifa Hospital. His death brings the total number of children who have died from hunger-related causes in Gaza to 70.[…]
Hospitals in Gaza remain overwhelmed and under-resourced. Medical teams are unable to treat the growing number of patients suffering from starvation and related illnesses.
Aid agencies, including UNRWA, say they have enough food in storage to feed Gaza’s population for over three months. However, the supplies remain stuck in warehouses, waiting for permission to enter. […]
