How can anyone excuse this sort of thing for any reason? It makes me sick, and I mean that literally. The Israelis and the US are complete 3rd Reich. Gassing the Palestinians at food aid sites.

Palestinians seeking food at GHF site die from suffocation after Israeli forces fire gas at aid seekers
At Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, young men carried bodies, and hungry children cried out in front of corpses wrapped in white shrouds laying on the ground, bidding them farewell for the last time. All these victims fell at a Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) center, which claims to distribute aid to the hungry.
“We received a call that there were a large number of martyrs and injuries at the aid distribution center in Rafah,” explained Ezzedine Abu Subha, a civil defense paramedic who headed to the incident scene in Rafah in the morning. He continued, “When our teams arrived at the location, more than twenty martyrs and dozens of injuries were recorded by the civil defense and Red Crescent teams there.”
But unlike previous “aid massacres” where Palestinian aid seekers have been shot by bullets, the Palestinians killed today faced a new threat: poisonous gas.
Abu Subha explained, “All the cases that were lifted into ambulances were proven by eyewitnesses to be cases of suffocation from poisonous gas, as their bodies were free of wounds or blood.”
He said that the apparent causes of death were a combination of toxic fumes and trampling in the stampedes that followed in the chaos. Still, he said he could not determine the cause of death officially and was waiting for the official report from the Ministry of Health to announce the exact causes.
That confirmation arrived hours later, when the Ministry of Health issued a statement saying that 21 citizens has been martyred, including 15 who died by suffocation due to gas being fired at the crowds, and the stampede that followed at the American-run aid distribution center.
“It is the first time that suffocation and stampede deaths were recorded at aid distribution centers,” the Health Ministry added.
The ministry also said in its statement that the Israeli occupation and the American organization are deliberately committing systematic massacres against the starving.
In a testimony collected by Mondoweiss from one of the survivors at the scene, Ahmed Abu Amra recounted, “At 4:00 a.m., people gathered at the entrances of the GHF’s centers waiting for food distribution. The numbers were huge. At that time, armed American company employees, who stood not far from the civilians, used loudspeakers to order people to retreat and not enter the site.”
He continued: “When the people arrived, and with the repeated calls by the American company employees not to cross the fence, everyone stood still, crowded together due to their large numbers. Around 6:00 a.m., the Israeli army started shooting at the gathered people.”
Abu Amra added: “At the same time, while the Israeli army was firing bullets at the people, the American company employees were launching stun grenades directly at the individuals, hitting them in the head, causing many injuries. Then gas bombs began falling amid the crowd, leading to panic and a stampede. People were running in a terrifying scene, and anyone who fell to the ground could not stand up, as others trampled over them.”
Abu Amra lost his cousin today in the chaos at the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation site.
“This was not aid distribution,” Abu Amra said. “It was a real massacre committed against the hungry who came hoping to get some food.”
Abu Amra added that “even the American company employees were firing stun grenades at our heads.” He described the scene: “They launched more than 16 stun grenades directly at the people. I saw them with my own eyes. I was injured by shrapnel from one that exploded near sand and gravel, and the stones flew toward the people. I was hit in the head, but it wasn’t serious. But others were directly hit in the head by the grenades — some lost their eyes, some had their mouths injured, and noses broken.”
Abu Amra explains why he and others continue to go to GFH locations, despite the risks. “I’m a living example. For four days, my three children, my wife, and I have not eaten anything. Four days without food. That’s why we go for any option that gives even a small chance of getting food.”
“The only solution and alternative to this tragedy and these daily massacres is for all of us, the residents of Gaza, to agree not to go to those sites,” he said. “We must insist that aid comes to the doorstep of our tents. We have been displaced, our homes destroyed, and our children killed. To get food, we have to face death daily — this is unbearable. We deserve to eat and drink. My children don’t deserve to sleep without food for four days.”

I disagree with both you and Lester. IMHO the great majority of people in the USA is indifferent to the history of genocide of Native Americans (the term alone is offensive!). It is a puzzle to me, why is it not possible for the resistance fighters to enter “Israel proper” in separate small groups, dispersed ,from Syria, from Lebanon and even from Iraq (via Syria), using unprotected borders? And start street fights in Tel Aviv or any other city? The Israeli forces are spread thin, so, how could this not be possible? I would whole-heartedly support an armed invasion of the Palestinian Territories to arrest the USraeli genocide regime. 🚨 NEW: After decades of struggle and repeated delays, a French court has finally approved the release of Georges Abdallah — the iconic Lebanese resistance fighter and longest-held political prisoner in Europe.
The ruling, issued today (July 17, 2025), orders his release by July 25, on the condition that he leave France permanently and never return.
Abdallah has been imprisoned since 1984 and eligible for release since 1999. Yet for 40 years, his freedom has been blocked by intense U.S. and pro-Israel pressure. French courts approved his release in 2013 and again in November 2024 (scheduled for Dec 6), but both decisions were overturned. A June 2025 hearing delayed it again—until today.
In 2015, WikiLeaks revealed that in 2013-–Secretary of State Hillary Clinton personally pressured the French Foreign Minister to block Abdallah’s release, warning that the 64-year-old “has shown no remorse” and “likely will resume his revolutionary struggle if released and deported to Lebanon.”
She added: “Although the French Government has no legal authority to overturn the Court of Appeal’s January 10 decision, we hope French officials might find another basis to challenge the decision’s legality.”
Abdallah, born in the village of Al-Qoubaiyat, was radicalized by the revolutionary broadcasts of the PFLP and went on to co-found the Lebanese Armed Revolutionary Factions (LARF). He was arrested in 1984, accused of involvement in the 1982 assassinations of U.S. military attaché Lt. Col. Charles Ray and Israeli diplomat Yacov Barsimantov in Paris.
To Abdallah, the trial was a political farce — an imperialist charade to obscure U.S. and French complicity in the destruction of Lebanon.
Despite U.S. lobbying, the Paris court today approved the 74-year-old’s release — a rare political victory against empire, nearly 41 years in the making.
His lawyer, Jean-Louis Chalanset, confirmed Abdallah intends to return to Lebanon, and remains “a communist militant who supports the Palestinian struggle and fights against the invasion of his country by Israel.”
In his words:
“When the resistance is described as terrorism, this is only a reflection of the interests of the dominant classes who attempt to criminalize the struggles of the oppressed.”
“Let us be worthy of the epic of the torches of freedom, those invincible resistance heroes detained in Zionist prisons… May a thousand solidarity initiatives flourish for the sake of Palestine and its glorious resistance.”

It is a puzzle to me, why is it not possible for the resistance fighters to enter “Israel proper” in separate small groups, dispersed ,from Syria, from Lebanon and even from Iraq (via Syria), using unprotected borders?

The basic reason, not far mentioned in replies, is that the borders are all fortified with barbed-wire fences, and patrolled death zones. Even the West Bank is now separated from 1948 Israel by a wall which conveniently adds to extra territory to Israel. Individual raiders can’t get in. This is one main reason why the expansion into the Druze areas of southern Syria is so foolish. There’s no protection from ambushes for Israeli military sent there, and sooner or later garrisoning the area will become too expensive.

Thank goodness for the persecuted Druze, there’s the only democratic nation in the Middle East with the world’s most humane army (self-proclaimed, of course). They’re always quick to swoop in when it’s about protecting minorities. I would not be surprised if it is the EU old money oligarchs who have imposed on Trump to declare Epstein a hoax. No issue with the dozens of articles in the US mainstream media, since very few of this information was reported in EU media apart maybe the BBC because they had to cover the Prince Andrew scandal. Lately, the EU media are more than shy to report any of the old information on Epstein that came to the open because of the courageous girls who testified and all the law documents available.
Why so? Because it is bad for the EU to be openly associated with big criminals. No one in Brussels is considering imposing sanctions on the US for deporting people in chains to unknown countries and no one wants to question the Association Agreement with Israel (instead they outsource all their cybersecurity to them and try to impose that every company should do so) no matter the number of countries they bomb and the number of people they kill.
Why so? Because the US protestants and the EU so-called Christians share with the Jews a “myth of origins”, singularly a very patriarcal one where Eve is supposed to be made from a rib of Adam, which in Greek mythology would mean that she is his daughter, but nevermind.
More seriously, the Biblical Israel and its zealot pilgrims represent a fortune in terms of tourism and trade of all kinds (starting with books/ebooks/websites). They are the guarantee that other zealots can be converted all over the world, too, and that is even more juicy in terms of people trafficking.
As to the Druze, they are useful for two reasons: for once, they are genuine locals, from around Mount Hermon. Normally these areas would be the homeland of the only true Jews, namely the Samaritans, but these were considered as too big rivals and thus prosecuted all the way since the Bible was composed (around the 3rd c. BC) and indeed many stories in the OT explain why they should be exterminated. Nevermind that they actually have preserved the sole ancient Hebrew alphabet (their Pentateuch, which is the only “Biblical book” they acknowledge, is written in this script). Second, they are genuine atheists. An offshoot of the Ismaili sect that was at the head of Fatimid Egypt in the late tenth century, they were created from scratch by a Persian missionary in Cairo (whose followers ended up in Mount Hermon) who fused the idea of some Gnostic and Neoplatonist sects with a very mild version of Islam. Through centuries, its god even further from islam, and only the tribal hierarchy of elders and a strict patriarchy is aknowledged. The founder postulated a god beyond being, who only can be pure one and good while the god of creation is a bad demiurge. Why did it stay a folk religion? Maybe because precisely they were kept on a few mountains in the Levant and with endogamy helping, probably have troubles of their own.

Yeah, I watched that video, and didn’t really agree. He was already very pessimistic after the coup against Asad. And he’s just got more pessimistic than ever. I think it’s something to do with him being of Armenian origin. He may say he’s perfectly Syrian, but most Armenians I have met in the Middle East are not very well integrated in their country of residence. Their children go to Armenian schools, they go to an Armenian church, etc. His sense of Syrian identity may be rather weaker than he says. After all, the Syrians got over the French attempt to balkanize the country. And more recently in Iraq, the Iraqis got over the US attempt to split up the country (though not perfectly yet). I don’t see why it shouldn’t go that way again.

Without being pro-Zionist he seemed to think the Israelis were playing their cards quite cleverly while the Arabs were stupid. At one point he even seemed to think Bashar Assad had given up trying to run what was essentially a zoo, though I might need to review that part again. Essentially, he was overly pessimistic and I don’t think pessimism is what we need.

88 – I visited Lebanon in 2017 and went to the southern border. The occupied territory was marked off by a wall a little higher than the Berlin Wall of old (yes, I saw that when it was still up). Barbed wire etc. One of the Lebanese accompanying the group I was with referred to the place beyond as Jalil. It took me a moment to realise he meant what we would call “Galilee” in English.
