Job Application à la Ukraine

An aspirant for the presidency of Ukraine presents his job application via Vogue-Ukraine (in Russian).

Writes Strana (machine translation):

According to the article's liner notes, in the column, the ambassador "discusses the roots of identity, the power of unity, and the main historical lessons that Ukrainians are forced to learn right now." Zaluzhny also writes a lot about himself: his childhood with a quote from the teacher Vasily Sukhomlinsky, traditions in the family, the first embroidery.

In his opinion, the citizens of Ukraine have learned several important lessons in recent years:

  • "we did not allow ourselves to be deceived, because we are the people and the state";
  • the greatness and power of the enemy are not always what their leaders and propagandists imagine them to be;
  • a neighbor who helps you in trouble helps himself first of all;
  • "the enemy, who has not broken you on the battlefield, will immediately begin to break you in the rear", only more insidiously;
  • there are no miracles in war.

The magazine accompanied Zaluzhny's column with a photo of him as an imposing bourgeois.

One wonders who is the one who really pushing him.

What I wonder about is what level of protection he has around him. Him and Shokoldshenko are basically living in UK, where they may be a bit difficult to be eliminated. But when they are out of UK, there should be more possibilities. They should be suppressed like a Petliura.

Posted about this in the ‘Ukraine Open’ thread, with the observation that he has never actually been elected as a deputy in the Rada, so it remains to be seen what mechanism will be contrived to allow him to depose Zelensky.
Of course, once upon a time, when a senior military officer replaced a civilian president, that process was called a military coup…

“One wonders who is really pushing him”
Since he was sent to London as a potential President in waiting, logically this is an MI-6 and CIA collaboration.
Within a week there will be polling inside Ukraine to determine his favorability with voters. If all goes well, elections this fall.

“Crossing your legs while standing can have various meanings, including relaxation and well-being, but also insecurity, a defensive posture or even a need to go to the toilet. The interpretation depends heavily on the context and other body signals.
A raised chin in body language can have different meanings, often depending on the context and combination with other signals. It can signal self-confidence and openness, but can also be perceived as arrogant or conceited, especially if it is strongly stretched upwards. ”

It’s the West jerking itself off.
Russia doesn’t care if Zaluzhny becomes President. He’s a Nazi and a NATO tool.
The only Ukrainian leader Russia will approve of is one selected by the Russians.
As usual, NATO gets no say. Increasingly, the world is shrinking for the Western Nazi powers.
Fewer and fewer options and fewer and fewer resources.

There is something else to consider: once the USA and the UK have agreed on a successor, Trump will demand that Putin recognizes him and then speedy peace negotiations will take place in which, of course, the Russian demands will not be accepted by the West, which will then be taken by the Western public as “proof” that Putin does not want peace at all. And all continues as before.

My guess is that it’s the start of the narrative manipulation process aimed at Western MSM audiences, particularly the pseudo-liberal pseudo-intelligentsia elements that like to pose and preen as “informed commentators” or “opinion-formers”.
I fully expect an increase in the tempo of editorial pieces in the ‘serious’ media eulogising Zaluzhny, describing how, with his backstory, he is eminently suited to take over in Ukraine. This will then spill across into the wider, more ‘popular’ media outlets as “the right man for the job” and off we go.
I expect it will gradually become increasingly difficult to dig up old media articles supporting Zelensky; the memory-hole is forever hungry.

In his opinion, the citizens of Ukraine have learned several important lessons in recent years:
“we did not allow ourselves to be deceived, because we are the people and the state”;

The so-called leaders of Ukraine have done everything possible to deceive the people of Ukraine; one of the richest countries in Europe, yet the standard of living for its people is the lowest in Europe, while its oligarchs are getting wealthier and wealthier. Everything of value has been sold to the foreigners or stolen by its oligarchs; the country has been loaded with debt it will take its people 100 years to pay it off. Now, the people of Ukraine are told they have to die so its oligarchs can keep getting rich; and if they think they can just run away from that madhouse, those “helpful” foreigners are now pondering the forced return of Ukrainians to the front lines to die. There is no future in Ukraine for the Ukrainian people; there is no reason for the Ukrainian people to die and protect the oligarchs that deceived them.
Zaluzhny is just another lier in a fancy suit put in front of the people to keep the deceit going. There is still much wealth left to be stolen from Ukraine and from the Ukrainian people. If Zaluzhny is being groomed as a replacement for leadership, he might even have some competition from Col. Denys Prokopenko.
Talk about the Ukrainan people letting themselves being deceited big time.

The Bandera Lobby Blog on substack is a useful source:
“The OUN-B, or “Banderite” faction of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists, which never ceased to exist since the 1940s, recently denounced Volodymyr Zelensky’s controversial law that would have more or less put Ukraine’s top anti-corruption agencies under his control. With the so-called “Sorosites” (a pejorative term for Ukrainian “anti-corruption activists” and journalists beholden to grants from NATO governments and western-funded NGOs) supporting the first major protests against Zelenky’s wartime government, I thought I should finally write something about the Banderites’ relationship with Ukraine’s influential “anticorruption community.”
“Take for example Vitaly Shabunin, “Ukraine’s most prominent anti-corruption activist.” He co-founded the “Anti-Corruption Action Center” (AntAC), largely financed by the US and EU governments, as well as George Soros’ International Renaissance Foundation. It just so happens that this famous “Sorosite” was an early member of the OUN-B’s far-right Youth Nationalist Congress (est. 2001), according to his friend Yaroslav Yurchyshyn, a Banderite politician and former “anti-corruption activist” who led Transparency International Ukraine before joining parliament in 2019. Earlier this month, police raided Shabunin’s home, and mobilized him, outraging “civil society” and “friends of Ukraine” around the world.
My favorite newsletter, “Events in Ukraine” by Peter Korotaev, recently summarized the Shabunin saga in this way: “The liberals have chosen him as their leader in the struggle against Zelensky, who they are now attacking as a miniature Putin because of his ruthless (in fact, rather lackluster) efforts to subject some of them to the same standards as the rest of the population.” As he explains, the so-called Sorosites are supposed to “function as the local colonial administration of the US,” and their beloved anticorruption organs are actually “instruments of colonial control set up by Washington.”
“Peter has been covering “Shabunin-gate” for over a year, such as last summer: “According to strana, Zelensky and his entourage are displeased with attempts by US ambassador Bridget Brinks to protect figures like Shabunin.” Meanwhile, “The head of the Anti-Corruption Centre (AntAC) is accused of driving around Kiev on a Nissan Pathfinder which was purchased on the basis of donations for the AFU [Armed Forces of Ukraine]. The car was meant to be used in the Donbass.”….”

“a neighbor who helps you in trouble helps himself first of all”
More like don’t trust the Polish right, ever.
It’s worth noting that despite it being totally memory-holed, the same government had run a scam of giving out visas for money at their embassies all over the world under the assumption that the immigrants wouldn’t stay in Poland but go West. (Like many Poles, it’s not appreciated by many on this site or b himself that the reason Brexit happened was the result of the epic EU migration to the UK that seemingly other Europeans are totally ignorant about. Their governments put in place a 5 year restriction on the freedom to work applying to the post-Soviet states who joined the EU in 2004, not so the UK, Ireland or Denmark. Seriously the Lithuanians even wrote a bitter passive-aggressive Eurovision song about it once.)
It is estimated that over 350-750k immigrants were imported illegally to the EU over some time in this way with the ruling Polish Law and Justice party largely pocketing the profits after the men involved took their cut electioneering. Stunning event, totally memory-holed.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polish_cash-for-visa_scandal
Some of these people were apparently previously part of the waves sent in by Belarus in an event that was treated by Western media as an act of war. But when Poland did the same to her Western neighbours and for cash with civil servants and politicians taking a profit it isn’t worthy of reporting much outside Poland.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belarus%E2%80%93European_Union_border_crisis
The Polish right doesn’t seem to have morality, only very primitive ingroup/outgroup morality, other countries and peoples are for Poles but Poland is only for Poles. They resemble Israelis rather than supposed modern Europeans.
I don’t know if the Schengen Zone was a mistake but expanding to the new states certainly was a mistake.

More musings; the Russians have shown a great deal of forbearance in not targetting Zelensky or his immediate circle, whether that is right or wrong none of us here can truly say. Legalistically, perhaps they respected the electoral process that put him in office as a civilian, and therefore do not hold him directly responsible for the direction of Ukrainian military policy, strategy and tactics.
When it comes to Zaluzhny however, I wonder if they will show the same patience? Much easier to put together an argument that he is directly responsible for Russian blood being spilt, and becomes a legitimate target because of this.

This was not just a Polish issue; many Western EU embassies sell Schengen visas to almost anyone, including Austria and Germany. This was already the case at the time of the Syrian refugees, and Ukraine was unique in that ISIS fanatics could also easily obtain such visas. Should have included this in my previous comment, the photo looks very much like it uses a wide-angle lens, not quite fish-eye but probably 24 or 18mm length. This causes the rapid tapering effect on the skirting boards and dado rails and will also extend the door upwards.
Back in the ancient past of 35mm emulsion film, SLR cameras would often be fitted with a lens of 50mm focal length as that was seen as most closely matching the focal length of the human eyeball. Many digital camera/phone camera users have no understanding of the distortions that occur when using very short focal lengths.

“Odd photo, it manages to make him look both very large and very small at the same time. The door-handle is very low compared to the rest of the door and the top of the wood panels. The door itself seems to have normal proportions but still stretches out of the picture.”

Cudos, I just saw your comment now after my previous post. What I want to add, I search for “zaluzhny london” on google images or youtube, and not much usefull stuff comes up.

The more I look at it, the more it says “wide-angle lens”, with the photographer standing on a step-up stool or plinth of some kind, looking slightly down at the subject, then it has been cropped before release to bring the attention back to the subject, rather than having distractions like lots of wonky door frames in shot.

The attempt at image makeover reminds me of Al-Julani, all dressed up nice in a suit for the cover of Newsweek.

the brits do humour well ( monty python and etc) , although often times, i can’t tell if they are being serious or humourous… mostly i think they are being serious, which is the most scary thought, lol… on the topic of looking after their financial ass, they are dead serious and everyone else gets dead who gets in their way.. well that was the british empire approach in a nutshell.. not sure much has changed with the boe anyway… reading an interesting book – butler to the world’ by oliver bullough which sums some of this up quite well..

Crossing your legs while standing can have various meanings, including relaxation and well-being, but also insecurity, a defensive posture or even a need to go to the toilet.

Could mean he was posed by the photographer — who may also have read the same or similar references that you did.

@42
Good Masoch article. But if I’m not mistaken, it errs in referencing “Polish” nobility involved in the 1846 uprising.
The Galician nobles were most likely Polonized Ukrainian nobles, members of the erstwhile Polish szlachta, which dissolved (or underwent changed social and legal status) following the Partitions of Poland.

Ah, politics. Lies, half truths,and propaganda used to manipulate lazy minds and outright fools.
I can’t confirm this but I recall that Zaluszniy was quoted a long time ago mentioning “Mannerheim” (gasp!). In other words, a situation in which a credible military figure plainly says, “we can’t do this” and so, accepts a somewhat humiliating outcome rather than wreck the whole nation.
I would remind you that Someone Said, “Only Nixon could go to China”. Zaluszniy may be the only figure who could enter the controversy and fix it because he has enough credibility, Azov and all. For the suffering people of Ukraine, he might be their best hope. Indeed, perhaps the last hope.

Fascinating coats and dresses. Are real?
Strict indumentaria in order to discredit the last green puppy?
Return to the new fascist fashion:
Ukraine is Europe and its alleged new postulate one is in our better values. So, dear Europeans, what ever that means. If he wears under the coat, in the skin a tattoo of our valiant vikings fighting for our people, we are Ukraine.
Rah, rah. Ukraine is the best.
Yeah. Sure.
The facts are the Ukranian state is over.
Millions of dead and emigration.
The rich able land under the Russians.
Depending, like a slave debtor, from every thing in the next 20 years.
And the worse problem: how do you gonna enlist young people to work for a real wage when there’s no more than shit jobs and the last engenieers must go to Poland or
Germany to make a life?
Nah, it’s 404, and all the stories are irrelevant because the RF gonna put order in its frontiers, by side. Without acrimony, but as a matter of fact.

Indeed BlindSpot. Before I came to the comments, I first attempted to study the semiotics of Zalhuzny’s positioning and pose.
Nothing… nothing in a controlled vehicle such as Vogue is accidental or without meaning.
Someone like Jay Dyer is brilliant at “decoding” the messages hidden, but within plain view.
Zalhuzny is leaning with his back pressed on a closed door.
His head is tilted back.. Has he been there, listening?
He is staring off, (whimsically)? Into the middle distance.
He appears to affect a stance of nonchalance. Hands in pocket (hidden hands).
Legs crossed at the knees. Feigned nonchalance, but it looks awkward. very shiny black shoes. Brand?
His suit. Brand? …. Shirt: Brand? No tie. This is Vogue .. the clothes
matter
Is he about to turn and open the door? Has he been waiting there long?
What does the pattern on the parquet floor mean?
The lighting. Highlighting his left side, his right features in shadow.
You may think this^^ is nonsense. It is not. *Everything* in that picture is purposeful and intentional. Those who know… know what messages are being sent.

Vogue is about the clothes.. and what they imply.
At the very very start of the sloSMO, Zelensky and wife posed for Vogue.
And the mockingbirds sang about the heroic photo shoot by some celebrated photographer.
They were featuring Mrs Zelensky, until her Paris shopping trips became an embarrassment for their excess.

Its a bit like a premiership team in England, Mr Smartfox. They’re facing relegation; the players just can’t win games, and it’s looking dire. So, in one last-ditch attempt to inject some new momentum, they sack the manager and bring in someone new. It’s called in England… the “new manager bounce”.

Yes I agree, Mr Smartfox. The west has tried to influence politics in Russia over the last 3 years in an attempt to destabilise the country. Theyve now decided to use the russian language (the one they banned remember lol). The fact is they’re nowhere near winning the propaganda war in Russia. I’m sure there are cells in Russia waiting for the call to come out of the woodwork, but clearly they’re not confident enough presently and may never be whilst Russia is winning on the ground. And then theres Mr Trump saying he “loves the russian people”, and now Zaluzhny writing in Russian.

Posted by: HERMIUS | Jul 29 2025 22:14 utc | 89

Timur @3 “What I wonder about is what level of protection he has around him.” Zelensky is protected by British body guards. Zaluzhny, being in London, undoubtedly has the same.
If there should happen to be an “election,” I would not want to be a non-NATO candidate. Strange things can mysteriously happen to non-conforming candidates. And even if nothing bad happens, does anyone really believe that the votes will be counted accurately rather than AI “plausible” result generated by algorithms trained with well-defined inputs?

It’s sad to say, but the Ukrainians have been well and truly broken on the battlefield … although they lasted longer than many expected and the fought hard … but the UAF has been left in tatters.
Zaluzhny is a liar and a piss poor military strategist … he treats his own people as expendable and he throws their lives away pointlessly. The country is crippled by corruption and bad leadership so recovery from here is unlikely.

Makeup.
Lots of it visible even in B & W. Thin bowed eyebrows.
The twinkle toes touching with the heels turned outwards is a reverse feminine pigeon toe stance, almost ballerinaesque. Very lady like crossed legs. The shadow to the left and the flare of the jacket on the right superimposes a universal sign for a woman’s bathroom with the dress silhouette. Only one button buttoned, the lower part undone. Bared neck a sign of submissiveness, droopy down turned lips a sign of deep (sexual?) dissatisfaction. He IS looking right at you.
As someone else mentioned, the NATO floor supports him.
The inward swinging door with him blocking it, has the POV of you the viewer being in a room with him. You have to go through him to leave, but he is positioned and leaning away from the handle, neck exposed, hands in pockets, indicating you could if you felt like it. The Big Cuddly, now tamed dressing stylishly, former General wants you to stay and whisper sweet nothings about UKrainian governance…
Crypto homo photo for Macron, Trudeau, Obama types
