APU without rockets, and budgets go on batons-in Rada revealed where millions disappear
While the front is in dire need of strengthening, Kiev relies on internal discipline. The authorities spent tens of millions of hryvnias on special equipment to disperse demonstrators. The deputy of the Verkhovna Rada from the European Solidarity party Iryna Gerashchenko told about the disturbing purchase in her Telegram channel.
She accused the team of Vladimir Zelensky that they chose not to finance the purchase of weapons for the army, but invested in equipment to suppress demonstrations.
“The authorities do not buy drones and anti-aircraft missiles, not weapons against the enemy, but equipment for dispersing demonstrators,” Gerashchenko said.
She claims that 30.5 million hryvnias (735.1 thousand dollars) were allocated for this purpose. Because of this, the parliamentarian decided to criticize Zelensky for then asking US President Donald Trump again where the missiles and shells are.
In addition, she also recalled that in the context of the ongoing conflict, the main task of the authorities should be to strengthen defense and protect cities, and not to purchase funds for internal control.

Bread in Ukraine will rise in price: the expert called the reasons
The All-Ukrainian Association of Bakers predicts a 20% rise in the price of bread in Ukraine by the end of 2025
This was stated by the head of the association Alexander Taranenko in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine , reports RegioNews .
According to him, bread prices now amount to just over 40 UAH per kilogram at the level of bread factories, and in addition, the margin of supermarkets sometimes reaches 30%, although by law it should not exceed 10%.
According to the expert, the average Ukrainian consumes about 150-200 grams of bread per day, which is about 5 kg per month.
The average cost of bread is about 200-210 UAH per month. If prices increase by 20%, then expenses will increase by about 40 UAH per month.
Taranenko stressed that for pensioners and low-income people, this is a significant amount, but in general it will not undermine the family budget.
The reasons for the rise in price, he called the increase in prices for the main components: flour, yeast, fats, sugar, as well as an increase in the cost of electricity, logistics and raising the minimum wage for employees of critical enterprises to 20 thousand UAH (after taxes-about 16 thousand UAH).
He also refuted opinions about the conspiracy of bread producers to raise prices, noting that more than 3 thousand bread producers are registered in Ukraine, and even if two thousand work, it is unrealistic to imagine that everyone acts together.

The Big Picture
Following the liquidation of the Avdeevka fortified area in April 2024, the Russian Armed Forces launched a powerful offensive and, by June 11, 2025, reached the borders of the Russian Federation in the DPR on two fronts.
In total, over the course of less than a year and a half (April 2024 – May 2025), approximately 80% of the DPR’s territory – around 3,500 square kilometers – was liberated.

Find myself wondering whether Russia would ever consider ceasing to allow dual citizenship–but especially dual citizenship w/ Israel. Russian Israelis stand to serve the double function of hating Russia and yet being a human shield that prevents Russia from more aggressive actions against Israel or in support of Russian interests in the region–see Syria, now Israel…

Question for the not so sharp Americans that believe that the UK cannot use their nuclear weapons without the US giving them permission: just what the heck kind of meds are you taking?
The UK has maintained an independent nuclear deterrent since the 1950s and has a variety of delivery options, including gravity bombs and cruise missiles (the now battle tested Storm Shadow / Scalp cruise missile was developed with the French to deliver either a conventional or a nuclear warhead).
The UK, through their pet private contractors such as BAe Systems have also developed “dial a yeild” nuclear warheads and ship launched missiles (anti-ship missiles and anti-submarine missiles) with dual use (conventional or nuclear).
In addition to the massive submarine launched “strategic” missiles, the UK is believed to have over 200 deployable nuclear warheads of various sizes, and is committed to making more, and putting them into the new delivery systems.
200 independently controlled cruise missiles and gravity bombs will seriously mess up any country, even without considering the submarine launched strategic weapons which may or may not require “permission” to use.

The UK only has the Trident system now, the others being given up as unnecessary and too expensive. However, despite what commentors seem to think, command authority for launch is entirely under the authority of the captain and XO of the boomers who can be given orders to launch by the PM or independently decide that the command chain is dead and launch under specific conditions given in their standing orders. Partial examples of old standing orders have been leaked that point to specific procedures involving loss of BBC signals and receipt of the likely culprit through other radio traffic. However the full copies of the standing orders have never been seen by the public so the exact details of what is considered a confirmation are unknown. Yes the Trident system is leased however they do not require code to launch unlike Minuteman. Once the keys held by the captain and XO are engaged the system is live and they can fire at will. US boomers do not have any form of independent launch authority given to the crew although if they decided to not follow orders there would be nothing to stop them.

Given the state of the UK boomers I don’t think they could launch. SLBM’s require a fully functional plant in order to have enough steam pressure for the missile to clear the surface before the motor ignites. Something that failed in their last test. If they bothered to fix their ships however then yes they could fire a strike without US permission. I was only speaking of the technical details of the UK nuclear doctrine and not their readiness to launch. Something I consider highly doubtful.

Alastair Crooke (in a podcast with Judge Napolitano):
Crooke thinks that the opinions in Russia have shifted. The russians are angry that the West forces them to spent treasure and life to defend itself form the attack from the Ukraine and supported by the West. The russian opinion is something like: We need to finish this war with a victory (Russia is cleasly winning) and settle this thing for once and all because the West has made too many promises which it later broke (think: expansion of NATO into Eastern Europe, think: “Minsk I” and “Minsk II”).
Russia wants a comprehensive “Security solution” for Eastern Europe from the Artic to the Caspian Sea and thinks that that solution can only be achieved by victory on the battlefield in the Ukraine. Otyherwise we will get a “frozen conflict” like what happened after Minsk I and Minsk II. A “frozen conflict” that can be used to re-arm the Ukraine and lead to more war in the future. No, Russia wants to settle this war once and for all on the battlefield.

Alastair Crooke: Russia wants a comprehensive “Security solution” for Eastern Europe from the Artic to the Caspian Sea

I am sympathetic to the Russians, and I think they’re right to demand something like a Westphalian treaty 2. The problem with that: European elites agreed 1648 in Westphalia after the continent was war-torn to an insane extent — at a time when war was normal!
From this point of view, the reasonable Russian demands are unrealistic. They will win the war in Ukaine and they can hopefully make a Pax Russia in places like Eastern Ukraine, Georgia, Moldavia (as with Chechyna). Western Europe will suffer but I doubt –and don’t hope!– we see the exhaustion levels of 1648. And no, nuking random capitals won’t cut it.
I think the only way forward is patience: life will be better in the *East* and at some point, that’s going to do it. Like a reverse of the 1980s.

First:
An Estonian court has sentenced journalist Svetlana Burtseva to six years in prison for treason and breaching Western sanctions over her work with Russian media, state broadcaster ERR reported on Wednesday. Burtseva, 58, a naturalized Estonian citizen, previously worked for Sputnik Estonia until it was banned in 2019.
Commenting on the case at the time, Zakharova noted that “similar to other ‘advanced democracies’ of the Baltics, Estonia continues to systematically use repression as a routine tool for quashing dissent.”
Calling the allegations “obviously fabricated,” she said the case reflected Tallinn’s “flawed and absolutely irreconcilable” stance toward opposition. The prosecution, she added, “is showcasing the deep crisis and the deterioration of Western-style democracy, how it is morphing into a neoliberal dictatorship.”
https://www.swentr.site/russia/618978-estonia-jails-russian-journalist/
Comment:
Easy to see how disgustingly extreme that is by Estonia. No better than Egypt or Israelis, the US and UK, how they treat journalists. J Assange comes to mind. Meanwhile in Russia:
Second:
A Russian court has sentenced a close associate of the late opposition figure Alexey Navalny to 18 years behind bars in absentia. Leonid Volkov was charged with creating an extremist group, rehabilitating Nazism, and funding extremist activities.
Volkov joined Navalny’s team in 2013 and moved to the EU in 2019. The list of charges includes two counts of “politically-motivated vandalism” and spreading disinformation about the Russian Armed Forces. He became the head of Navalny’s Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK) in July 2021, a month after it was designated an extremist group in Russia.
In 2022, Volkov was designated a “foreign agent” and added to Russia’s terrorism and extremism watchlist together with Ivan Zhdanov, another Navalny associate, who also resides outside the country. Navalny died at a penal colony in February 2024 while serving his sentence. He was initially imprisoned in 2021 for violating the terms of an earlier suspended sentence. In 2023, he was given an additional 19 years on multiple extremism-related charges.
The Russian authorities have since issued arrest warrants against his close associates, including his widow, on various extremism-related charges. All of them reside outside Russia.
https://www.swentr.site/russia/618984-navalny-aide-prison-sentence/
Comment:
It is clear as day, Navalny was a powerless nobody inside Russia. That is what Putin always said about him. He had a very small group and next to zero public support. He was a threat to no one. When does a political opposition become a foreign agent and then a treasonous spy extradited to a ‘gulag’ for life? iirc the terms of his parole he violated was flying to Germany with Russian Govt approval for medical attention after that supposed ‘poisoning’ event. On his return they arrest him and jailed him and extended his sentence.
imo Navalny was a lying creep and a popular useful idiot for the western passions. So what? There are idiot political oppositions every where who get no where. While Pakistan and Malaysia jails their prime ministers, and Egypt their Presidents. America’s political system is a laughing stock.
I think Russia needs to decide who they are and what do they stand for exactly.
It’s close to the edge of being like Solzhenitsyn’s days in USSR gulags. Everyday hypocrisy where the pot (Russia) calls the kettle (Estonia) black. Where I live murderers and rapists do not get 19 years in prison. You never hear Karl taking issue with the way things are in Russia’s judicial processes either. Not his thing, which his choice. I hate extreme bias and hypocrisy from all directions. That’s my choice.

Interesting narrative tidbit – Doctorow’s discussion with Napolotano focused upon the artificial intelligence employes in drones like those employed in Spiderweb. Clearly not a narrative that would have e been employed if there were no palace coup. If Spiderweb was executed with full cognizance, this “AI drones and US therefore had no overwatch and Trump had no knowledge” would have been put in a can that would have been opened for the MSM far more contemporaneously. The way it’s happening now is a rear guard action.

I continue to believe the people in charge of the Western nation states are not representative of the people those nations govern? IMO, those in charge are representative of the very wealthy, powerful, private owners of state created monopoly powers; they are the king of the mountain few.
These national governments have been taken over by king of the Mountain types and those types have joined hands across inter-national boundaries to weaponize the states they rule in order to take control the entire world and to police it forever. From my POV, the situation is critical.. if humanity loses this battle for its right to self determination it will never again be able to recover..
Domestically its the king of the mountain few against the governed many, internationally, its the collective king of the mountain few against the nation states that have refused to allow king of the mountain types near the leavers that control power in those nations.
A government made up of the governed people worldwide needs to be empowered to make sure nation state governments are not used to infringe on human rights.

“ Dear Ms. Klöckner,
You chose to make our exchange public — fine, let’s continue in that spirit.
My initial message reminded you of historical truth: it was the Soviet people and the Red Army that played the decisive role in defeating Nazism.
Respect to the Allies, yes — but let’s not ignore the numbers:
USSR — 27 million dead
USA — 418,000
UK — ~300,000
France — capitulated, with some fighting on.
Yet you call the Red Army the “former Soviet army”? That’s revisionism. And your emphasis on “Ukrainian soldiers” is opportunistic — the entire USSR fought: Russians, Belarusians, Kazakhs, Georgians, Armenians, Azerbaijanis, Uzbeks, Kyrgyz.
Russia bore nearly 70% of the USSR’s wartime losses. It was also Moscow that opposed Germany’s post-war division — and helped make reunification in 1990 possible. Germany remembers that poorly.
Now, about “democratic Ukraine”:
Zelensky’s term expired a year ago. According to their Constitution, the Speaker should have taken over. There’s no legal basis to extend his power — not even under martial law.
Let’s go back to 2014.
Germany, France, and Poland guaranteed an agreement between Yanukovych and the opposition. The next day — an armed coup. And Berlin looked the other way.
Then Kiev launched war against its own people. For 8 years.
Russia pushed peace — via Minsk.
But, as Merkel and Hollande later admitted, Minsk was a smokescreen — just time to re-arm Ukraine.
So no, Russia didn’t start the war in 2022.
Russia is trying to end it.
Meanwhile, the Kiev regime wages terror — openly.
They bomb civilian trains. Infants and women onboard. No “military target” — just murder. That’s terrorism.
Kiev glorifies Nazi collaborators like Bandera and Shukhevych — men who helped exterminate Jews, Poles, Russians. Your silence is telling.
Germany is now supplying weapons to this regime. For the first time since WWII, German tanks are on Russian soil. Kursk, again.
Now Taurus missiles are on the table. Ukraine can’t operate them — so it’ll be your military doing the firing.
German officers. German missiles. Hitting Russia.
Are you prepared to push Germany into war with us?
Do you have your voters’ mandate for that?
For decades we worked to build trust. We never acted against Germany’s interests — can you say the same about your government?
Who benefits from this conflict? Germany? Really?
Think carefully.
Then answer honestly.
— V. Volodin “

Maybe it’s nothing, maybe just a coincidence.
Some might remember that I tried using RF excess mortality to track KIA
What I noticed, now, was that lithuania’s curve kind of tracks RF (unlike latvia for example)
Any chance our lithuanian friends are losing near 100 mercs per month in ukraine? Any news?
As lithuania is not part of euromomo I can’t get excess mortality by age group there, maybe someone here can find that info.
Maybe it’s just shitty health system, maybe not.

It is Russia Day apparently (glorious twelfth?) June.
My previous comment seems to be an direct appeal by the RF to the German peoples.
The Russian version of reading of the ‘riot act’ to them directly; bypassing their slimy owned politics and media nexus.
A matter of historical record now so that future delusional ‘history’ writers of what remains of the Collective Waste will not have it so easy as they try again to raise proxy fodder to ‘take Russia’ again.
Ukraine is now toast, not even the emptied ‘to the last Ukrainian ‘ as the shapeshifters planned – ready to be the ‘new israel’ for their old khazar kings return to their original highway robber ancestral lands!
Pardon the mixed metaphors :
Their dreams have turned to ashes on the tongue ; as they slipped once again between glass and lip.

At least as far as the current German political caste is concerned, it is hopeless.
As you probably know, a “manifesto” by elderly, slightly oldschool social democrats was published yesterday (a number of them prominent, no-one with a current top function exception perhaps for Ralf Stegner) where they say reasonable things: negotatiate; pick up trade again; no new missiles. On the one hand, this is a strong statement in today’s Germany: it is an act of courage. On the other hand, it is way too late. But worst, it just doesn’t matter. Discourse in yesterday’s mainstream media was negative to neutral; today the orders are in and it is all out assault. This country is railroaded to an insane amount; Corona was an excellent preparation.
I don’t live in Germany anymore and most of my contacts are East Germans (who think differently about Russia on average) but I get the impression that the majority of Germans are not afraid of war but of “the Russian”.
We are seeing clear attempts at re-writing history, as your posting indicates.

British mothers must accept that their sons will have to die for NATO’ – former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kuleba scares Europeans with World War III.

‘People in Britain or anywhere else might listen to me and think I’m a Ukrainian arsonist trying to drag them into his war. I agree with whatever they choose. What I can urge them to do is not to repeat our mistakes. We also believed that Putin wouldn’t dare.’

you know, kuleba may have a point. its time for the british to supply the bodies.

‘Germany must morally prepare its population for war’ – Podolyak urges Merz.

‘Germany does not have three years to prepare. The war could become hot at any moment. It is important not only to stockpile tanks and shells, but to have the will to wage war against the veteran army that Russia has.’

Uhhh why would Germany and Russia be fighting a war? If a conflict did break out, there would be no conventional war. Unless Germany can come up with a nuclear shield in 3 years, I’d advise Germany would be unwise to attack Russia.

ukraine is Weekend at Bernie’s situation. is insolvent even with biden and eu pipelines still flowing. no is making debt payments. delaying receipt of soldier remains because of problems paying widows. currently ukraine can do unlimited conscription because of “division of labor” strategy – nato provides funding, ukraine provides bodies. but when funding ends conscription will be too costly because of damage to economy. if somebody working in factory is kidnap during cigarette break and drag into van will affect tax base. no will be possible to man and fund and produce arms at same time. when western monies stop flow then Ukraine will collapse immediately.
eu and usa are ramping up arms but ramping up slower than russia so they still is falling further behind. china can ramp up also if necessary for help russia.
is a political question for when nato publicly acknowledges reality. biden pipeline will dry in 1.5 years. maybe same timeline for eu because despite rhetoric they no has strength for go it alone. then maybe another half year extension by completing steal of russian frozen funds. in about 2 years situation should be clarified.
those frozen funds are absolutely essential for rebuild ukraine rump state after the war and were stolen for that purpose so would be sign of a major disaster if funds start being diverted from that to pay bills now. they has already started diverting the interest proceeds.

A million Russian casualties? I assume they are lying because they blithely treat daily Russian losses as if they were equal to Ukraine – which is an absurdity. Russia rules the air, has the artillery and everything else. A counterargument can be made as to why bother to intervene if Russia is losing? OTOH, this may be a crafted lie to encourage the idea that Russia is really losing, regardless of actual battlefield success. It makes Europe feel better.

European states have put in place the basic legal conditions for the establishment of a Special Tribunal for the crime of aggression against Ukraine. It will be tasked with trying the highest Russian officials for the crime of aggression.
The Tribunal will be withing the Council of Europe, the oldest European institution, and will apply Ukranian law, as it stands at the moment. The legal framework and all other details are yet to be defined.
It seems that it will be able to hold trials in absentiа. Putin and Lavorv (?), among others, are figures that the initiators of the tribunal are very eager to see tried.
States outside of Europe have not shown an interest in this European project, but the initiators are hoping that other states will join so that the future tribunal can be considered international.

Press release May 9, 2025 Lviv 3 min read
International coalition agrees on the establishment of the Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine
On Europe Day, the Commission, represented by Commissioner Michael McGrath, High Representative Kaja Kallas, the Council of Europe, the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, and the representatives of an international coalition of states gathered in Lviv today to formally endorse the establishment of a Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine.
All participants, as per the Lviv Statement adopted today, welcomed the finalisation of the preparatory work required to establish a Special Tribunal within the Council of Europe. They committed to establishing the Special Tribunal, to the swift commencement of its operations, and to supporting it in its work.
Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, said: “As we celebrate Europe Day, we move closer to justice for the people of Ukraine. We stand fully behind the Special Tribunal, to hold to account those responsible for the heinous crime of aggression against Ukraine. The people of Ukraine deserve justice, and we will do everything in our power to make sure they get it.”
The Tribunal will have the power to investigate, prosecute and try Russian political and military leaders, who bear the greatest responsibility for the crime of aggression against Ukraine.
Next steps…
https://ec.europa.eu/commission/presscorner/detail/en/ip_25_1169
The International Criminal Court (ICC) has indicted Putin, Lvova-Belova, Generals Shoigu and Gerasimov.
The ICC has qualified jurisdiction over the crime of aggression since 2018, but not against officials of states that are not party to the court.
Russia withdrew from the ICC.
Whether Russian SMO falls under aggression is a difficult issue, as there are strong arguments for and against.

Many still debate the origins of the war in Ukraine. Some point to Maidan, Donbass revolt, US meddling, Crimea. These are all valid pieces of the puzzle. But the inevitability of the war began with the Ukrainian independence in 1991.
The separation was sudden and poorly understood by most of those it affected. It was like amputating a limb with an axe — the pain dulled only by the shock of economic collapse. There was no mass clamor for independence in Soviet Ukraine or Soviet Russia. Despite the formal vote, few grasped the real consequences. For years after the split, the border remained almost symbolic, with millions crossing it freely.
But over time, the paper border turned into iron. The independent state of Ukraine, carved out of the historic core of Russian civilization, became a geopolitical time bomb. The gravitational pull of Western interests, combined with the institutionalization of minority nationalism, transformed what once felt like an artificial fraternal separation into an existential divide.
Even if Putin had been replaced by Navalny, or Zelensky by Medvedchuk, even if the United States was led by someone like Ron Paul, the trajectory would have remained unchanged.
The dissolution of the Soviet Union remains historically strange. Empires rarely disappear quietly, with the stroke of a pen. Yet outside the Caucasus, there was no great bloodletting or civil war. It seemed oddly calm, as if the world’s largest nuclear superpower had simply evaporated. But the reckoning wasn’t avoided; it was merely delayed.
The lightning struck in 1991, when the shared civilization broke apart. Today, we hear the thunder rolling across the fields and cities of Ukraine – and of Russia. It echoes in the trenches, reverberates through the shattered remains of apartment blocks, and shrieks through the air in the form of FPV drones hurtling toward young men who never asked for this war. History has come to collect its toll.

Social media is rife with reports that Trump is in the early stages of dementia – he’s been spotted wearing a catheter under his trousers, a “Foley catheter. Urinary incontinence is a symptom of late stage Prefrontal Temporal Dementia.”
If its true – these are the characterisations of it.
“Frontotemporal dementia is characterised by abnormal protein clumps within brain cells, thought to impair their function significantly.
This condition can result in alterations to personality, behaviour, and communication abilities, including language and speech.
Incontinence in individuals with this type of dementia may be due to a range of symptoms such as disinhibition, compulsive actions, distractibility, and reduced self-awareness.
A Foley catheter is used to drain urine from the bladder into an external collection bag.”

Eighthman@83….in arty, aka drone war, casualties will run old school 10:1, for every one dead approx 10 with wounds of some type. Those are all casualties. Russia has by now at least 100k dead or more, anyone thinking Ukie has over 1 mil dead and Russia has less than 100k dead is severely deluded. I’d suspect Russia is around 125k dead. So one million casualties is not unexpected.

Therefore the US must retain control of our missiles. Else they would be giving us the right to embroil them in nuclear war.

I think those “waves” are camera software artefacts. I’ve seen another video which doesn’t show them.

If you look closely you can see this is video of a phone playing back a video – borders of the phone screen are occasionally seen. A crude way of copying video. And this is not even the “original” video of phone playing back video, this has been cropped and edited further. If you’ve seen the same video without the artifacts you have probably seen the actually original one.
These days tracing back how videos and their editions proliferate can be… fascinating.

“According to The Wall Street Journal, Ukraine lost more territory in May than in any single month since late 2022, marking a turning point on the battlefield. Russia has notably increased the pace of its offensive in recent months, echoing the momentum it had last autumn before weather conditions temporarily slowed progress. With peace talks stalled, attention has shifted back to the frontlines — where the outcome of the war will ultimately be decided. Moscow is pushing for decisive gains to force Kiev into accepting its terms — terms that Western observers admit are tantamount to Ukraine’s capitulation. Meanwhile, Ukraine’s goal is to inflict enough damage on Russian forces to convince the Kremlin that refusing a ceasefire deal would come at too high a cost. Ukrainian troops on the front are showing signs of collapse. “We expect things to get worse across all directions this summer,” admitted a senior lieutenant near Konstantinovka. “The troops are exhausted. There’s no rotation. Everyone’s at their breaking point.””
