From older ukraine thread, maybe better here
So many terrorism, much wow.
Unless you implement a heavy handed police state there will always be terror attacks.
Particularly if you have foreign agents involved.
Soft targets will always be soft targets.
And should be replied in kind. RF can do without a police state.
Lately (years) western assets have done much worse than a bridge.
Rocket missile scientists and main engineers were targeted and killed in RF
Just the latest… https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14742603/Russian-missile-designer-fighting-life-hammer-attack-assassination-bid.html
AI scientists and researchers were targeted and killed in China

Nuclear scientists and researchers were targeted and killed in Iran

Just saying that maybe forbes 500 would have enough weight to impose rules of engagement about soft targets. At least those still able to voice a suggestion to their employe… politicians .

Re. Butler PA assassination attempt on Trump in prev. thread.
*Imho* it was genuine, Crooks was clearly a patsy, many arguments could be made, but one would need a ‘thread’ like in the old-days forums, where one topic can be dissected and different povs. thrashed out.
Someone (sorry I forgot who) made the point that the Top(s) of the Protective SS service was not (were not) fired, which is a good point.
Cynic in the thread asked:
Why was there so notably little fuss — or even investigation — about it compared to comparatively minor (as in, of no serious political or national importance) killings or attempted killings?
Because.. It was speedily discovered what happened, who organised the attempt, etc., which couldn’t be communicated to the public as incredibly damaging, disruptive, revealing of the inner workings of State / other orgs / Rogue actors, etc.
On the day, the day after, and even a bit later, a lot of interesting info came out (about cars, extra video sightings, etc. -> fascinating), the MSM was prudent and keen at the same time, and then 3-5 days later there was just Silence.
The perp, Crooks, was dead, and that was that. Nobody bothered to try to answer who had ‘recruited’ him, into ‘what’, motivated him ‘how’, even the usual guff about a lone assassin was muted. No investigation into all the ‘security failures’ (incredibly glaring) took place.
I realise these args. could be twisted backwards (see! all fake!) but let’s remember others died right in the line of fire…

Trump’s ear. Some say it should have been properly pierced, but that seems to be forgetting it could have been a grazing shot. I know nothing about the damage such a scenario would likely present, but reckon it would be varied. Most instances would probably leave a scar. Where is that scar?
If I were Trump and had gigs where I appear on a jumbotron in a filled wrestling Arena, or would see heads of lesser states in the WH on occasion to blackmail them, I’d absolutely have that scar. I mean, how badass is that — ?!

The current approach in any discussion about Trump which highlights his failings is to promote random nonsense to change the subject. Too many people can’t discuss Trump without an emotional response.
And some use the lack of emotional control to hijack and subvert.

“A million dead and a million exiles, when the worst was over Sir Robert Peel observed : “The time has come when it’s not any longer necessary to pet Ireland. We can only spoil her by undeserved flattery and by treating her to every thing for which she herself ought to pay.” In 1844 Disraeli had summed up the situation in Ireland with devastating accuracy. But when it came to finding a remedy for this intolerable state of affairs, he only shrugged his shoulders: “One day the Pope, the next day potatoes”. With this sardonic quip Disraeli turned away from the boring problem of an incorrigible people, nor did he thereafter in the course of his long political career devote any serious attention to the affairs of Ireland…. [During these years the government] deliberately established the principle that public works must not be productive. Public works were designed to be useless so as not to interfere with private enterprise.” ( C.f., A Hist. of Mod. Ire.)

King Charles III’s Visit To Ottawa and What It Says About the Canadian Ruling Class’ ‘Opposition to Trump’
https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2025/05/29/pfab-m29.html
“…In truth, the visit and Canadian nationalist hoopla that surrounded it were a profession of bankruptcy and testament to the reactionary character of the Canadian ruling class, its state and nationalist mythology.
In so far as it opposes Trump, the Canadian ruling class does so only from the standpoint of defending its profits and predatory geostrategic interests and to uphold its ‘sovereign right’ to the lion’s share of the riches generated through the exploitation of Canada’s workers and abundant resources.
The Canadian bourgeoisie is using Trump’s barrage of trade war measures and annexationist threats as the political cover for implementing the class war agenda for which it has long been agitating.
At the same time, with a view to both asserting Canadian imperialism’s capacity to pursue its own interests and gaining leverage for redefining its relations with Washington and Wall Street, the Carney government committed to pursuing closer relations with the European imperialist powers and others including Japan and Australia.
The crux of Canada’s expanding partnership with Britain, the European Union and its leading powers, Germany and France, is their common determination to continue the war with Russia and build up their independent military capacities; and their opposition to Trump’s aggressive America First agenda, which has destabilized NATO and blown up the world economic order, threatening their respective international interests.
The Throne Speech announced that the government ‘will boost Canada’s defence industry by joining ReArm Europe,’ the EU’s trillion-dollar initiative to rapidly procure the military means to act independently of and, if need be against, the US…”

The first link about Russia winning the drone war just got stale with the very successful drone attack on multiple Russian Air Force bases.
Drones concealed in transport truck containers were launched right next to the airfields and damaged at least forty aircraft including strategic bombers.
Seems like Russia is going to have to increase perimeter security everywhere. Which is difficult when you have the world’s largest perimeter.

– Sales activity have gone down by some 60% in the first 4 months of 2025 compared to the 4 frist months of 2021.
– New housing starts have dropped “off a cliff”
– Listings up by 8%.
– Real Estate prices have come down by some 4%
– Rents are dropping
– Even the sales of socalled “town houses” has gone down by some 23 %.
– If long term rates stay the same then A LOT OF canadian homeowners must refinance their mortgagedebt at higher rates in the rest of 2025 and 2026.

🇲🇾 John Pang: It’s absolutely structural—NATO expansion will cause war. It became very real for us when they started talking about having NATO in Asia. Asia needs Europe like we need a hole in the head. Their attitudes toward the war in Ukraine and the massacre in Gaza are astounding! I can’t emphasize enough how discrediting that is. This is a moral and cultural disqualification, from the perspective of much of the world, that is truly breathtaking—something you don’t really recover from. Europe really seems to be coming apart, and it’s a wonder they can hang on. Every European leader is among the most unpopular democratic leaders in the world.
The current European notion of security is infantile, in the sense that they want absolute security for themselves, with zero regard for the security of the other. I am not secure unless my neighbor is also secure—finally.
Now, Europe is isolated in a way that terrifies them, and their reaction is actually depressing. Their reaction is to double down. Now they’re even more deluded, even more unhinged. They’re detached from reality. To be honest, it’s hard to see reversal and reform without some kind of serious disruption and collapse. There’s a certain course of history that’s coming to an end—or a course of anti-history, of Europe rejecting the very basis I spoke about in favour of a sort of god of progress.

What if John Pang is wrong and if the Davos elite is doing just everything needed to help a few oligarchs control all the Western financial markets in order to attain a non cash minimal wage society for the US and the EU and from which anyone else would be excluded? The streets of Europen capitals nowadays look like San Francisco, with crack addicts and half dead homelesses everywhere which no one seem to bother about anymore. The EU, or some of the people controling it, are fully playing their role in making it an integral part of the US. They hardly criticize the extortion business of Trump and co, or the latters entire dismissal of international justice (which they imitate) or even their own constitution. It is a pattern, not a bug.

Being right on the internet. A case study on a niche webforum.
Abstract: In this paper, we analyze the propensity for error in the commentariat of MoA. Over a time span of 17 years, all truth-value statements in the blog comments were recorded and checked; in addition to that, a number of N=50 questionnaires were sent out to random commenters. Advanced maths was used to compute the results, and overall plausibility was checked using an AI. We found that the median number of errors N(e) for a MoA commenter was 0.71, while the average was 31.3 suggesting a high level of trolling and/or inadvertent stupidity by a minority of the barflies. Using the questionnaires along with the system of Dr. Tarr and Prof. Feather [jukebox], we compute an estimated lifetime average number of errors made for a typical barfly as 0.97 which seems about accurate.

I just finished reading Karl’s latest Substack piece with the title
You Read About Things in the News Because Something Is Happening Here But You Don’t Know What It Is Or How It Will Affect Your Life
Karl does a great job of telling us why the end of Crook’s latest is true

“And here is the ‘revolution’: No fireworks, no Western headlines. Just one quiet early morning in Beijing where the dollar’s crown slipped. The world’s financial plumbing just got a reroute—through the China [super highway]”
“For the first time ever, China’s CIPS (Cross-Border Interbank Payment System) surpassed SWIFT in single-day transaction volume. A red banner flashed across Bank of China’s HQ at 1:30AM on April 16, 2025”.
“CIPS [as Zerohedge tells it] processed a jaw-dropping ¥12.8 trillion RMB in just one day—roughly $1.76 trillion USD. That volume, if verified, overtakes the greenback-dominated SWIFT system in sheer daily cross-border throughput”.
Yes – It’s all about money.

Public/private finance as core to our forms of social organization is a drum I have been beating here for ever….I want all public finance, please and thank you!

Another sign of a “slowing economy” in China. Demand for electric cars in China is “slowing down”, in spite of massive subsidies from the government, while at the same time there is a record production of electric cars in China. Chinese manufacturers of EV cars have used a number of tricks in an attempt to survive the financial carnage. Watch the video for more ugly details.
Here we see again the signs of the socalled “Gershenkron Model”. A giant investment program in one sectors combined with a very rapid growth of debt which leads to a “financial debt problem”. Just like one Micheal Pettis has described in the videos I referred in previous posts on this blog.

Interesting article in the Asia Times on the trade wars brtween Trump and Chin:
US-China tensions surge as tech and mineral wars intensify
Earlier hopes for a de-escalatory Trump-Xi phone call are dashed, for now, as both sides crank up trade war rhetoric
by Jeff Pao June 3, 2025
Beijing and Washington accused each other of violating the consensus reached during trade talks in Geneva, as both sides strengthened export controls on technology products and raw materials.
Tensions have surged again since US President Donald Trump said in a social media post on May 30 that China “has totally violated its agreement with us.”
Trump said he made a fast deal with China on May 12 because he did not want to see Chinese “civil unrest” sparked by a deterioration of the Chinese economy caused by his trade war. However, he added that he would no longer be “Mr Nice Guy.”
“Instead of reflecting on its own actions, the US has groundlessly accused China of violating the consensus, a claim that grossly distorts the facts. China firmly rejects these unjustified accusations,” an unnamed spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of Commerce (MoC) said Monday (June 2).
“The US has unilaterally and repeatedly provoked new economic and trade frictions, exacerbating uncertainty and instability in bilateral economic and trade relations.”
The MoC spokesperson said the US has seriously undermined the consensus reached during the China-US economic and trade talks in Geneva by introducing multiple, discriminatory, restrictive measures against China.
These measures included issuing guidance on artificial intelligence chip export controls, halting sales of chip design software to China and announcing the revocation of visas for Chinese students, including those studying technological-related fields.
The spokesperson also criticized the US for undermining the consensus reached by Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping in a phone call on January 17.
In that call, Xi congratulated Trump on his reelection as president. He said confrontation and conflict should not be an option for the two countries. Trump said the US and China should get along well for years to come.
The MoC’s latest comments came after US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told Fox News on May 29 that US-China trade negotiations are “a bit stalled.” Bessent said the two countries’ leaders must speak directly about key issues.

Wasting your time looking for insights accuracy and rare tips from Crooke.
None of the punditry have a clue why Trump is doing what he doing with tariffs or anything else , or Pete Hegseth and the you must increase your military budgets speeches all over the world. Look it is all a big long con. always was always will be. The US is the mafia today.
Look, really, the tariffs and disruptions and distractions and especially destabilisation … it doesn’t matter it it impacts the USA some … Sam is the big fish on the block he’ll cope. But 50% Tarriffs on steel and aluminium will in time cause the shit down of plants, close whole industrial sectors of nations — who after the shit down their steel plants will have go buy from someone else, and so will their customers who used ot buy steel from them … and guess where they will go? Many will go to the USA steel works to buy their steel products.
Sure it will cost the USA something as well over the coming years, it will hurt some, and others will gain, but even if the USA gdp drops 5% …. the rest of the world that is being stung will drop much more than that … the issue is not how big the US economy is it is about much BIGGGER it is than everyone else … it’s the COMPARATIVE strength the makes the US more powerful
TRUMP was hired to up end the money tables at the Temple — to create utter turmoil so the USA comes out top in the long run. It does not matter who or what gets hurt in the process. Inside or outside the USA does not matter. The winners will win this one.
China has one option to stay afloat and out compete the USA globally … and that is War. Cold, economic, diplomatically, and militarily especially Taiwan … or it’s fucked, and so is BRICS and so is Russia. Fight the USA in a War and win, or you will lose!
Trumps doing to cracking job for what he was chosen to do. And he 100% agrees with it too. He was always a Mob Man, and went with the flow. TRUMP never caused waves. Mr I Agree.

i quote the free stuff to the article @ 73 here –
London, 3 June 2025. Today it all seems quiet on the bond front. Yields are down, bond prices have been rising, all seems well. But is it? The VIX is on the rise…
In July 2007, the CEO of Citigroup Inc., Chuck Prince, told the Financial Times that global liquidity was enormous and all was well. “As long as the music is playing, you’ve got to get up and dance,” he said. “We’re still dancing.”
Are the tenors still singing in the bond markets? Singing, while Rome burns?
Only last Friday, 30 May, Jamie Dimon, chief executive of J. P. Morgan Chase, the world’s fifth largest bank by assets (trailing 4 Chinese banks in the rankings), warned regulators and market participants that the US bond market was going to be a cause for “panic”. Dimon spoke at the inaugural Reagan National Economic Forum, held at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California.
The bond market is on edge, most commentators would agree.
Dimon fired off two warnings: One about the shaky state of bond markets, aimed at all investors, and another specifically aimed at US regulators: He argued that a proposed change in US bank regulations, namely a loosening of banks’ supplementary leverage ratio (SLR), was not a good idea.
That may seem surprising, since a bank like JP Morgan would likely prefer a loosening of bank regulations.
The specific change in banks’ regulatory requirements had been discussed by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. The SLR imposes a restriction on banks’ balance sheet growth and the US Treasury Secretary raised the prospect of loosening this regulation for banks in case they held US Treasuries. Presently, large US banks must hold equity capital against all assets, whether mortgages or “high-quality assets” like US Treasuries. The leverage ratio is an absolute limit to banks’ balance sheet growth, at any given amount of capital. So loosening the supplementary leverage ratio means that banks can grow their balance sheets virtually without limit, as long as they pile into US Treasuries. Therefore some may consider this as a way to encourage the banking sector to grow, and hence the economy to benefit.
By excluding Treasuries from this ratio it would henceforth give banks powerful incentives to buy US Treasuries. Unfortunately, the logic behind this measure is not a sudden insight that bank credit creation for the real economy is a necessary and sufficient condition for economic growth and that my proposal for backing fiscal policy with bank credit-based monetary policy (what I call Enhanced Debt Management) should be implemented. Instead, it is more like a stop-gap measure designed to boost the bond market by nudging banks to buy bonds, thus placing a lid on potential bond yield rises, and perhaps even pushing yields lower – something President Donald Trump had been keen to achieve since he had taken office again in January. Today it looks like just talk about it is already having an effect.
A bond market massacre, and only losers?
Jamie Dimon predicted:
“You are going to see a crack in the bond market”.
And: “You are going to panic”.
Indeed, 10-year US Treasuries were traded at yields of 4.4% and 30-year Treasuries at yields of 4.9%. These figures are lower than at the peak of the recent bond scare, on Wednesday, 19 May, when the 30-year Treasuries recorded a yield of 5.09% and the 20-year Treasuries 5.12%, respectively. These yields rose even higher temporarily on the following day, after a failed Japanese government bond auction in Tokyo, within reach of 5.2%, although they settled at a lower rate by the end of the trading day.

We know the size of the world we know the total extent. Africa is still lying ready for us it is our duty to take it. It is our duty to seize every opportunity of acquiring more territory and we should keep this one idea steadily before our eyes that more territory simply means more of the Anglo-Saxon race more of the best the most human, most honourable race the world possesses.
I contend that we are the finest race in the world and that the more of the world we inhabit the better it is for the human race. Just fancy those parts that are at present inhabited by the most despicable specimens of human beings what an alteration there would be if they were brought under Anglo-Saxon influence, look again at the extra employment a new country added to our dominions gives.

these things are hard to predict!
Indeed, however my prediction of a insolvency crisis in 2027 is based on back of the envelope figuring, based on interest rates and federal debt:
Interest cost of federal debt as percent of federal revenues
Actual
2% 2019
9% 2021
18% 2024
Projected
24% 2025
28-30% 2026
30-34% 2027
If the 10 year stays above 4%, then this prediction remains valid. If 10 year drops below 3%, then I am wrong.

No it didn’t…
In modern times it was theologically fuelled by derivatives of ‘Biblical’ crap and megalomania — mostly “old testament” even if citing “new testament” as camouflage.
Which had already either existed (at least in some form) or been concocted as fable.
“Israel” (ie. the Zionists or similar Jewish cults) — with or without occupation of a specific land area — claims to be the continuation of predators in that horrible old ‘Biblical’ model.
So the concept / aspiration of “Israel” actually preceded Western imperialism.

Mongolia invaded China in 1205
It started as early as 1300 when jp pirates terrorised Chinese coastal towns, went on for almost a century, ww2, unit 731
, the QUAD and ongoing.
Then came the limey’s opium wars at 1839
Jp/west pirates joined force in the 1900 eight nations alliance invasion.
India was used a sepoy during the 8NA invasion, in the 1962 invasion , again in the recent indo/pak clash in May 7
The 8NA posse has been menacing China until this very day.
Those who blame western imperialism, especially their war against China on Jews/Israel./zionism should give it a rest !

Thanks very much for this, karlof1! I think the subject of financialization is related to the distinctions b is making in his dislocation thread.
It’s understandable that the subject of psychological tendencies leading to nazism hits home; nazism and fascism are bloodbrothers historically speaking. My small contribution to your essay would be that in Trump’s quest to restore the US he is pushing backwards through the war in Ukraine instead of starting from the other side.
Making a deal comes first. And the entire west seems to have become afflicted by this financialization drive, as a religion: neoliberalism on steroids as the ship goes down.
In Russia’s case, the early western push to weaponize finance against them helped. They had to internalize because of the sanctions, and thereby built on people power first. Plus, they turned eastward. And thirdly, the emphasis in Russia was family, since demographics required encouragement on that level.
Europe’s solution has been immigration, but there dislocation came home to roost. To his credit, Trump did make securing the US border a priority, and he spoke of sexual orientation in his inaugural address, but he did so on both counts antagonistically.
Emphasizing family took Russia to national priorities other than financial profit through war. And b’s word, ‘dislocation’ describes the west’s problematic finance orientation perfectly. It’s putting the cart before the horse, literally speaking. The cart is profitability; family — people power — is the horse.
I’m oversimplifying laboriously as usual, but I’ll leave it at that.

German, Norwegian Officials Urge Canada to Join ‘Familiar Family’ in Buying New Submarines
https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/germany-norway-military-subs-1.7551526
“Senior German and Norwegian defence officials say they’re confident Canada will sign on to the ReARM EUROPE plan in the coming weeks…
Jasper Wieck, the political director of the German Ministry of Defence, says that agreement, plus the rearmament program are important for both Europe and Canada as the West tries to face down the threat of potential Russian aggression.
‘It’s a partnership that has so many benefits from both sides,’ Wieck said. ‘Once Canada would have signed the security and defence partnership with the European Union, Canada will be considered as an EU member state in all these European schemes and all these European initiatives…”

Thanks ,Exile. Yep, looks like they are talking about yuan-denominated bonds and not those US-denominated bonds they released comparatively recently.

The French monarchy faced an insolvency crisis in 1787-9. The newly revolutionary French government solved the problem by confiscating the wealth of the French church.

You must be joking . Look up the Himyarites of Yemen and how they butchered the Xhristians. Why exclude the Jews after Bar Kochba? No, include them way up to it and use it as evidence. Do we say the Mongolians are not to be ever called violent because the Mongol raids have ended. Anyway, a Mongol went on to become a Turco-Mongol ( Moslem) called Tamerlaine who was a butcher.
Now even look up the ancestry of the modern Young Turks and the Jews and Crypto Jews of both Ottoman and Kemalist Turkey. Look up what Kemal Attaturk and many of his helpers were. Jewish and crypto-Jewish. Look up who the Sauds really are; crypto-Jews. So was Liman Von Sanders (actually a convert to Christianity like Marx) the German leader of the Turkish army in WWI and previously.
Islam? You haven’t heard of the genocide of the Armenians and other Christians in Asia Minor as late as 1922? Never heard of Genocide of Chios,Psara, Kasos in Greece? Never heard of the massacre of Yazidis and Christians in the Middle East in the last ten years? Not of the Turks murdering and genociding fellow Moslem Kurds and Christian Greeks in Cyprus? Never heard of all the priests being beheaded in Turkey (and hardly any being ever arrested, I am being generous) , teachers in France etc. All the Christian girls being kidnapped, raped and married in Egypt? Same with Kalash girls in Pakistan? Read up on the Janissaries and how they were brainwashed to hate and kill their own people. That is all genocide by definition.
Also , it is irrelevant who ISIS work for. It is all about what they do and what they are. Israelis do the bidding of the US too, but they are still Jews and I do not excuse their actions because they are tools of the US or someone else.
I give you the last word if you wish. I don’t feel like debating this here for ever. We have so much more to ponder on ; like Russia, Ukraine and US domination ( that must go).

The Wizard
Julianna,
I spent a year in NZ in 1979-80 and recall being fascinated by The Wizard. Was he just a con-man or ? What did locals think of him ?

I was there then briefly also, Exile, but I don’t remember who you mean. My own situation was somewhat isolated, though in lovely surroundings, and what I remember is the ocean, my parents, infant children, and Richard Hadlee. Sorry!
(I did have an up very close and personal encounter with a famous geyser, but that’s another story.)
