Trump Bombs Yemen (Short Take)

(The system is acting up on my thus just this short take.)

Fresh US strikes in Yemen with 53 now dead, Houthis sayBBC

Thoughts:

  • Bombing Yemen is stupid. The Saudis tried for years to get their way by doing that and were defeated.
  • Yemen can and does shoot back.
  • It is only a question of time until it hits a U.S. war ship and causes casualties.
  • Then Trump will be hard pressed to escalate the war towards Iran.
  • Iran can not be defeated.

That's it.

Looks like 16 US drones downed now over Yemen since Prosperity Guardian began. https://vxtwitter.com/ME_Observer_/status/1902479538350694700
The French navy has been AWOL from the region (apart from one transit to the Pacific) because they’ve run out of effective AD. Same with Germany. Denmark had problems with frigate weapon systems. The Royal Navy is still a joke and not even Typhoons are participating.
It’s just the US involved, and given the cat and mouse action with only a single carrier in the Red Sea, it would make sense that CENTCOM is calling for reinforcements.

@404 a1
“Paris and New Delhi kicked off a dual carrier strike group exercise today with the beginning of Varuna 2025. The three-day-long exercise will see the FS Charles De Gaulle (F91) and INS Vikrant (R11) carriers conduct drills in the Indian Ocean” USNI
The 2 month deadline to Iran is @ when CSG Ford is currently suggested to be deployed in the region.
If other ships are being sent to the region to back up Truman is still under question.
Also of importance is where the following is at :

Yes, the De Gaulle was the transit I mentioned. They’ve returned from the Pacific exercises then, I wasn’t sure how long it would be deployed.

Thank you very much for that response! I will look for an Oxford History of Philosophy. I trust you’re judgement on books! I have attempted to read say, Schopenhauer or Husserl, and I quickly realized that I don’t have much of a foundation. I suppose I should just start with Plato and figure out my way from there.
I’ve dabbled with Nietzche and Rollo May, and others. I can understand a fair amount. Often the writing is very enjoyable, even if I understand a fraction. It’s a bit like poetry at times. I kant make heads or tails of Kant. I won’t even attempt Hegel. I just need a foundation. I will look for a syllabus from some university I don’t suspect too much.
In addition to the Key to Heaven, I’m reading the Cultural Cold War by Frances Stonor Saunders. The book hasn’t gone into much detail on it yet, but it seems Sarte and a bunch of other writers were on the CIA payroll when the “Non-Communist Left” was being nurtured by the USA as a response to the Soviets. They weren’t necessarily aware of it, but a lot of the funds for conferences, art exhibits, cultural stuff was funded by US government entities in some way. It’s a great read.
I have learned so much for MoA and everyone here. Plato’s cave, for instance. I learned that here when I first discovered this place via comments on Consortium News in like 2017 or so.
Thanks again for the thoughtful response. I could tell you are a musician and a fellow metal head. 😉

….That same month, my editor revealed that nuclear weapons were already back in the picture and that a war game undertaken just days before Trump was elected in 2016 ended with the U.S. nuking Iran. A new nuclear weapon was deployed in February 2020, a low-yield warhead for Trident II submarine-launched missiles. The Pentagon said it was “to strengthen deterrence.”….
….As part of the current “SEED Project” that I described yesterday, there is a more highly classified nuclear planning effort. Escalating an Iran conflict to the use of nuclear options can originate in two ways: One, with the CENTCOM commander “requesting” the use of nuclear weapons, mostly to stave off Iranian conventional military success; and two, in a “top down” order, that is, by the President, mostly as a “demonstration” to “signal” to Iran…..

If trump was idiot enough for a “nuke iran” option, then I hope he likes his saudi oil radioactive (if iran has/can have nukes) or at a minimum well done with burning fields all over.
Saudis would never clear that option and even israel might not prefer it unless it sent iran back to the stone age (or a guaranteed favorable revolution, and it is never guaranteed), a small nuclear war would leave enough for israel to end without harbors, energy, etc.
Israel barks, but short of making sure it would completely neuter the adversary, they wouldn’t risk it.
my 2 cents

@lex talionis – Sorry for messing up your moniker! That’s bad, actually.
The History of Philosophy you will want to read is probably not chaptered for historical flavours/schools, but for individual thinkers. It might look less, but it will give you more in the end, especially if it’s an inviting and lively read.

Tiberius @ecomarxi
Here’s what happened:
Israel lied about a ceasefire, publicly agreeing to several phases it had no intention of honouring, all to give Trump a break for his inauguration.
Then, as negotiated and agreed with Trump, Israel backed out of their deal and resumed the slaughter with US weapons Trump supplied.
Pure, brazen lies, all of it — agreed well in advance to create a managed pantomime of death to manipulate you into thinking Trump the murderer was actually a peacekeeper.
This is your president: the very worst kind of person this world can possibly produce.

Any minute now some Trump supporter is going to say that people don’t understand it is about his domestic agenda.
He has to “kill them over there so they don’t kill us over here” or some such Neocon nonsense.
He’s not confused or under the sway of Zionists. He’s proud to commit genocide.
Whatever Americans think America is, it hasn’t been that for a long, long time.

And everyone else. Where would you suggest someone begin with a somewhat serious attempt to study philosophy? Like if one were to start at a 101 level?

Lex, try The Story of Philosophy by Will Durant. Excellent, readable. Have a look at it here

I see reports of UAE pressured the US into rejecting Egypt’s plan for reconstructing Gaza.

OT, but absolutely the best place to begin:
https://www.plato-dialogues.org/plato.htm

Posted by: juliania | Mar 20 2025 14:48 utc | 413

@juliana, I won’t disagree, yet perhaps we should add that Plato’s aim here is not to present a system, but rather to discuss various questions. Many later thinkers such as Spinoza and basically all of the German idealists (with Schopenhauer being the most notorious of them, closely followed by Hegel) try to present a closed system of knowledge. This is what you can’t expect from Plato, so don’t look for it there.
Actually, I started out with Plato, too. There was Die Welt als Wille und Vorstellung on my parents’ shelf, which I opened when I felt like, okay, now I’m ready, and then saw in the preface that Schopenhauer insists on reading Kant first. Dissapointedly I put it back, and turned to Tolkien and Stanislaw Lem, until I came for Nietzsche, whom I picked up in my school library as I remember. For whatever reasons, I had read Dudley Pope’s history of Firearms in its entirety before all that, which I can confirm because I left a drawing typical of an elementary school kid on the double-page photo print of USS Missouri during the battle of Okinawa.

I hope Persiflo and Lex and others interested read this although it’s a late reply.
1. Thank you for the awards Persiflo 😀 However I don’t want to be a monopoly so they need redistribution now… can I give you the task of doing that? (Haha that was smooth wasn’t it?) XD
2. Lex you have gotten lots of great advice and they may all work. Another way would be to get into some very general/introductionary epistemology/theory of knowledge:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epistemology
I don’t have any good reference to give you but there should be lots of stuff out there including in some of the suggestions you already got.
3. Persiflo I need to correct myself a little bit because both parts of my outbreak of:

“why would anyone claim any supposed reincarnation has to follow “the arrow of time”? That makes zero sense!”

are aimed straight at myself since I also always simply assumed the same as you until maybe half a year ago for no particular reason.
I know very little about it all.
There might be cultures and traditions out there that already include the idea of “anywhere in time” reincarnation. Maybe many assume the opposite of what we did?
I’ve never seen anyone talk about it and I’m happy that you liked the idea, please spread it to anyone interested 😀

Posted by: Sunny Runny Burger | Mar 22 2025 16:56 utc | 416

Oh there is one thing that just struck me might be a source behind the notion (in my case); several years ago I was “thinking” (there’s not much more to it that what I’m already going to write) about the possibility of “time travel by memory” resulting in for example (maybe the only example?) remembering a future that has already happened.
This in turn could have been inspired by all the talk going around the world about multiverses and so on for years upon years.
I don’t actually believe a multiverse is needed or wanted (not sure why!) but even if they don’t exist their probabilities or “probability functions” could (must?) still exist.
Btw thus no grandfather paradox either; time travel or at least this form of time travel (of information) only collapses a probability negatively —in which case it was never going to be true— or positively —in which case it was always going to be true— so everyone is safe 😀

Palestinian women have been giving testimonials that not only was rape practised on them while in captivity, but the IDF brought in “tourists” to watch.
