President Trump stumbles into the spectacle, draped in a carnival mask of diplomacy, a reality TV negotiation guru, as if US had ever birthed a deal that was not rigged from the start
Judging Trump’s narcissistic behavior at press conferences, where the content of the questions is repeatedly ignored and the answers are a repetition of campaign slogans and self-praise… he is just the New Biden..
But this time according to (Pulitzer Prize) journalist Chris Hedges the leader of a semi-fascist cult
All the alternative analysts who warmly support AFD, Meloni, Le Pen – insist in their wishful thinking that Trump’s administration has a peace-loving agenda.
It’s getting exhausting watching intelligent people fall for the Trump drama instead of just listening to their openly laid out plans.
What Trump is doing is right now is theater that is providing an excuse to pivot away from Ukraine, militarize Europe and execute the exact plan the U.S. laid out in Europe on the 12 and 26 th of February.
This makes an important point: how can Russia, Iran or China possibly trust its most dire and existential security guarantees to such a flip-flopping administration, which can promise one thing and deliver another moments later? It only goes to show that Russia (like Iran) should ignore all overtures and flourishes from Trump and his team, and continue prosecuting the campaign to its finish. There is simply no fool-proof deals to be had with an exceptionalist, schizophrenic US at the terminal stage of its Imperial arc.

Exactly. It’s bizarre how some otherwise apparently sane people call the Ukraine thing “Biden’s war” and praise Trump into the heavens for “ending it”. They actually think that Biden or Trump decide something, and they think Biden and Trump don’t serve the same decision makers. They want to forget that the genocide went on throughout Trump’s presidency. It’s america and israel’s war. Not biden’s war, not zelensky’s, not Britain’s, or any misdirection like that. Anyone calling it “Putin’s war” is an imbecile and at this point incurable.

Wtf? The what? An EU Commissioner in charge of “defence and space” !
“A Lithuanian conservative who was twice prime minister of his country, he started this crucial job – the first time such a portfolio has been created at the Commission – in early December. “
Why is a non wholly inclusive regional bloc setting up a post for some retired functionary of a small state that most people have no clue about its existence?
Who do they think they are!!
The ‘EU’ hasn’t even got a rocket that can go to Mars or a manned space programme any more.
The only ‘defence’ they need is from themselves, the absurd EUrocrat Dead Empire, petty dictators – fools!

Berletic makes a lot of hay from his recent analysis but I have yet to see any evidence that Russia has backed off.
One of those situations where people think they are smarter than the evidence.
America and Europe are running a con.
So?
They have been doing the same thing in Palestine since WW2.
Much ado about nothing.
Europeans and those of colonial descent cannot be trusted. Business as usual.

China barges and ship building prowess.
but…
AT WHAT COST?

Posted by: Tom_Q_Collins | Mar 16 2025 16:23 utc | 6

Interesting but the Chinese and US ships are not really the same; one makes a pier w/bridges and the other makes a landing craft. One can be driven through and the other can be driven off (hah). One can sail straight up and the other must sail backwards. One has a long reach and the other one has a short one.
Both uses pylons but neither is a barge!
Other than that there’s no argy-bargy from me 😀
(I’m not convinced either has anything to do with the province of Taiwan but maybe).

German Tourists Detained for Weeks, Then Deported From U.S. (archived) – New York Times

Posted by: james | Mar 16 2025 16:48 utc | 8

The fundamental issue for the US is that it needs to find a way to retrench given how overextended it is for a nation so heavily indebted and so de-industrialized. That route is supposed to be (1) Make the vassals pay way more for the Empire military, so that the US can focus better (2) Make the vassals buy more US stuff, for example LNG, to help the US economy (3) Get some of the industry back including by stealing some from the vassals (4) Focus on China.
This is the strategy that I detail in The US Retreats While Attempting to Increase Its Grip on its “Backyard”
But there are some big problems in implementing this:
– The Zionist lobby (including Trump’s son in law and many of his biggest donors) wants the US to deal with Iran for it
– The US oligarchy and courtier class generally still is not able to accept the deal with Russia required to disengage, and is in danger of ending up digging deeper to “force” the issue
– The European vassals are already pretty weak, weakening them even more threatens significant issues within and between them
– China is already way too strong for the US to “beat”
– The rentier and extractive nature of the US oligarchy precludes any significant US re-industrialization
So we will get a very messy version of the “selectively retreat and consolidate against China”, with the US finding it very hard to disengage from Europe and not be dragged deeper into the Middle East (the attack on Yemen being part of that), while China will leave the US in its dust. And the US will get nastier and nastier in “its Hemisphere” as it feels the Empire giving way. Then add in the volatility and ignorance of Trump himself.

Great way to kill off the US tourist industry to add to pissing off all the Canadians who visit and winter in the US. Then add in the blatantly political arrest of the foreign student at Columbia and the bill to ban Chinese nationals from getting student visas and there goes the US foreign student industry (and all those Chinese and quite a few other researchers who help drive technological advancement in the US). Then the US security state harassing all the Chinese academics.
The US has already pissed away a good chunk of its foreign image, I can easily see vast numbers of people actively staying away from the US and from buying US products. This is self-harming decline of Empire stuff.

“US chip-making dream awakes to labor crisis reality – Asia Times”
The US wanted to “turbo charge” the production of chips. But when I look at the amount of money that’s used for these investments then I see a repeat of the “Chinese growth model” and that means that somewhere in the future this initiative will run into a brick wall called “too much debt and too little demand” like China is now experiencing.

Larry Johnson’s Trump’s Bombast Towards Yemen is a turning point for someone making up his mind about Trump 2.0. There still remain some Trumptards among our familiar commentariat, but Larry isn’t one of them. True believers are winnowed down to just a few holdouts (Gilbert Doctorow, Patrick Lawrence) as the initiation of USA vs. Yemen reveals how the hegemon hoves (as per usual).
The immediately legendary pipeline raid on Sudzha deployed on Saturday, March 8; only a week ago! Apparently UAF were surprised and shocked into a panic designed as an objective of operational art on a level out of reach for Western forces. Retaking Sudzha has the momentum to entirely reverse Ukraine’s invasion of Kursk — possibly enough momentum to finish off a three-year SMO? Historical significance aside, Operation Potok advanced a force of 800 soldiers behind enemy lines, over four days of intense staging, more than four weeks of death-defying preparation. Every last Russian involved knew the importance of surprise, of operational security. Opsec was airtight because it just had to be! Nobody sold out their brothers in arms. Can you imagine solidarity this disciplined from Western troops? Because I can’t.
Craig Murray’s Curious Case of Mahmood Khalil packs some surprises about Khalil’s background: “The cherry on the cake is that he is a former British Government employee, having worked in the British Embassy in Lebanon, on Syrian affairs.” The following analysis from an immigration attorney fuels my hunch that Khalil will be deported, if only to prove they can. They don’t need any sophisticated excuses to take away your green card, here in USA:

The Supreme Court and other courts recognize that lawful permanent residents have First Amendment rights to free speech. Yet the Supreme Court upheld deporting lawful permanent residents in the 1950s based on their political activity, in particular membership in the Communist Party.

The oligarchy prefers to make sure money stays within their class and like to make people believe in the american dream.

Is this a trick question?
There’s no shortage of otherwise thoughtful people who think nothing of spending their money on toxic enterprises. But it’s not at all difficult to grok that, when we allocate a dollar of our own money on some product, we’re registering a vote for systems sustaining repression. Once spent, our dollar entangles us in moral responsibility for the crimes of those to whom we gave that dollar.
Thinking like this is way too Adam Smith or something, I guess. People would rather believe in outerspace evilbeams propping up the billionaire predators, when the force of nililism is us, our voluntary enslavement in consumerism — has been all along. We have met the enemy. Sorry I had to be the one to break it to you.

I’ve kicked around the idea of emigrating to Russia. Why not? America and Russia are more alike than any two countries in the world.
That’s why they hate each other so much.

A few days ago, I peaked at the “despair index” of post-Soviet Russia circa 1995. There were 44 suicides per 100,000. This number showed a gradual incline from the 1970s, just about where American-consumer culture kicked into high gear and Russians were trying to imitate this (obesity levels were the highest in the world in Russia at the time, perhaps outside some Pacific Island countries).
Fast forward and Russia and the U.S. have past each other again, although in the inverse. Russia now shows a 1/4 suicides per 100,000 that they had thirty years ago.
America? I don’t think I need to tell you.

If one feels alienated from their own culture, as I do, it stands to reason that one can make do in another, already having tasted the bitter fruit of disenfranchisement.
Besides, liberalism on the wane in the west needs to reconcile itself with the sacred, and this Russia has already accomplished.
U.S. is literally decades behind Russia’s vanguard position.

German Tourists Detained for Weeks, Then Deported From U.S. (archived) – New York Times

Not a fan of either, but the explanation is simple to anyone familiar with public sector shenanigans in the U.S. In short, we are looking at yet another example of “malicious compliance” with policy directives not to the liking of mid-level staff (or their globalist backers).
As is well known, the globalists have been enabling MASSIVE illegal immigration for decades, with the express aim of raising the U.S. population above 1 billion. The number of illegals residing in the U.S. is likely North of 50 million although MSM reporting still tries to hold the line with figures below 20 million.
During the Biden era, the U.S. government expressly significantly accelerated the flood by setting up infrastructure and administrative procedures to FACILITATE illegals from Central and South America wishing to mooch off schooling, medical facilities etc. in El Norte. Famously, illegals were provided with a smartphone app enabling them to schedule asylum interviews BEFORE even entering the U.S.
On January 20, the Trump administration started blocking SOME of the more blatant pathways to reduce the flood of Third Worlders. However, apart from a few initial spectacles staged for news cameras, there have been NO efforts to start deporting the 50 million illegals already in the country in any serious numbers.
Against this background, some ICE staff resorted to “malicious compliance” to undermine and discredit the – already watered-down – safeguards against illegal entry at the Southern border.
To maximize the PR impact, ICE apparatchiks deliberately selected border crossers (1) from a well-off country regarded in the U.S. as civilized and well-off; (2) who were in possession of perfectly good ID and entry clearances. To make its point and demonstrate its power, ICE even ensured that the tourists were needlessly held in solitary confinement.
ICE could easily have made an example of one of the countless illegals seeking to RE-ENTER the U.S. after having been deported, after having been convicted of murder, rape or other serious crimes. A few heavily-tattooed MS-13 members would have made for great TV footage.
In a functioning republic, the officers responsible for this malicious outrage, and their bosses and bosses’ bosses, would already have been fired and deprived of their ill-gotten pensions. Nothing of the sort will occur under Trump.

It goes like this:
‘
‘Mossad’s Syrian Imposter Yonatan Zvi-David aka Abu Mohammed al-Jawlani
by chloe » Mon May 18, 2020 10:03 am

“Mossad successfully embedded their mole Yonatan Zvi-David into top echelons of Al Qaeda, where he goes by nom de guerre Abu Mohammed al-Jawlani (al-Julani/al-Jolani).

The cover story Zvi-David used to infiltrate the terror group was that his name was Ahmed Hussein al-Shara, from the occupied Golan Heights in Syria.

Since that part of Syria is currently occupied by Israel, there was no way anyone could contradict the story about his origins.

In 2011, Abu Mohammed al-Julani was allowed by Abu Bakral-Baghdadi – later Islamic State (IS) Caliph – to establish al-Qaeda’s Syrian branch, Jabhat al-Nusra
2 years later, Yonatan Zvi David and Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi fell out, after the former refused to merge his Al-Nusra into ISI under the new name Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).

On 28 January 2017. Abu Mohammed al-Jawlani announced the creation of Hayat Tahrir Al Sham, HTS (Assembly for the Liberation of the Levant).

He also claimed to have severed all ties to Al-Qaeda and ISIS.

Israel then used its influence in the West, to have Hayat Tahrir Al Sham (HTS) labelled as “moderate Syrian rebels” by USA and Western media, thus allowing for HTS to receive funds, weapons and training from governments in the West. “
Shapeshifters shift shapes and build their ‘legends’ to gather headchoppers to do their dirty work.
It’s a spooky world – I’m fed up with their century of shite!

Spooky notions like that from DunGroanin live in a maybe-mode which runs parallel to our everyday lives. They are hard or impossible to prove with our means on the MoA, but not necessarily untrue. Mind you that leaking of hard info on ‘Jewlani’ is a military-grade offensive action almost guaranteed to draw a likewise response.
Methodically, it seems wise to record all suspicious cases of similar shenanigans, and from there make an educated guess about how real such notions may actually be. This is only feasible if we don’t engage in ‘shooting the messenger’ style postings if someone’s most dear holy cow is conjunctively put under a blanket suspicion. Here are two names so you can see what I mean:
Lenin. He apparently didn’t speak proper Russian, he was injected into Russia by the Germans, and the Kaiser spoke favourably about future development of relations between the Reich and a communist Russia. Hmm.
Atatürk. He apparently didn’t speak proper Turkish; some say he was a Brit.

if you are talking about voluntary enslavement in consumerism comment, the word “voluntary” means you are responsible.

Posted by: jinn | Mar 16 2025 23:01 utc | 34

Consumerism is seductive, in that it plays to the more primitive needs of a human being. It projects a promise of happiness, of psychological stability, through surrogates and simulacra. Almost as if you can buy an identity, instead of having to develop a character. Its roots go deep in the deracinated people of the Waste. They have perfected a wonderland of self-objects, and I suspect it is this promise of liberation from the human condition (Geworfenheit, Heidegger) what makes western culture attractive to others.
To criticize people for “voluntarily” being seduced by consumerism indeed falls short, for it isn’t a readily comprehensible, hence fully conscious decision for most. Instead, we are being born and bred into a netherworldly swamp that is at least as old as the various gigantic mind control projects that systematically sought to deprive people from a genuine spirituality, to create and control a flock of sheep and some inspired but easily manipulated warriors.

Posted by: Jack M | Mar 16 2025 15:41 utc | 2 But what are sane people? People who aren’t actively hallucinating, can more or less function in their day-to-day activities, and manage to look more or less presentable, conforming to prevailing norms, in their dress and mannerisms. These sane people cannot think properly with crazy idea, I’d say. My guess is that most of them are deranged by nonsense about the nature of American imperialism (that it’s not all about the finance capital,) so there are two (or more) factions that can choose between imperialist policies. Indeed they are confused I suspect by an unspoken assumption that imperialism is policy, period, rather than the way of life for decadent monopoly capitalism. They are further confused by folderol about a so-called Deep State, missing the state in front of their face. And they imagine some so-called PMC, an idealist construct where the villains have Bad Minds because reasons, rather than seeing the ruling class.
Put another way, Biden and Trump and so on, tend to act the same way because they defend the same empire, not because some secret person is calling the shots. The objective necessities of that defense drive policy. Yet the objective contradictions in the decaying empire make rational consistency impossible for anyone. That’s my explanation, rather than the invincible stupidity of the masses (who aren’t running things, raising the question of why anyone seriously blames them for what their rulers do?)

Priorities of the Hungarian rotating EU presidency
Here:
https://hungarian-presidency.consilium.europa.eu/en/programme/priorities/
A Consistent and Merit-Based Enlargement Policy
Enlargement is one of the most successful policies of the European Union. To preserve this favourable tendency, it is essential to keep enlargement policy merit-based, balanced and credible.
The European Union has long been engaged in ensuring a European perspective for the Western Balkans, as the Community cannot be complete without the accession of this region.
The region’s integration benefits the EU in economic, security and geopolitical terms. To further broaden and deepen our cooperation, we will invite our partners to consultations both in the framework of the EU-Western Balkans Summit and the European Political Community.
Western Balkans – Serbia is the jewel in the crown. Orban has wanted in the EU for years. His priority.
The man is not to be trusted..
It was either Bulgaria or Romania they brought into the EU the last time Hungary had the rotating EU presidency.
Nov last year Orban brought both into the Schengen area,

In this comment, you attempt to explain Lenin (a jew) coming to power after Bolsheviks (jews) killed the Tsar and his family strictly adhering to Talmudic ritual (available for anyone on here to read and verify) as coming from the keiser in Germany.
Very ham fisted & contrived of you.
Are we to believe that power lusting jews have somehow lost their ethnocentrism and have no influence in the matter (for just a short while) and yet by sheer luck of the draw for jews (yet again), Germans of all people, are responsible for Lenin the jew getting into power ?
And also, by the way, actual ethnic, racial Germans and actual ethnic Russians have always enjoyed and seeked out close relations, they are natural allies. So this is just a natural state of the world, on the face of it.
And no mention of jews from you at all.
And then, in your next comment

You pretend as if the USA is some rudderless boat that nobody controls, a candy land of milk and honey that people come to and then get turned into narcissists, which is much more sneaky of you, or whoever influences your thoughts.
Much of this comment is true on the face of it but we are left with the attempt to put blame on the individual and their psychological issues. Both the random bystander and the warrior class.
The issue with this is it is using the redefined definition of a narcissist, which anyone who knows or researches this will find the original definition of a narcissist to be much more accurate and useful rather than the subversive works of Heinz Kohut.
Who tends the the garden of bitter fruit of the USA ?
Who is the sovereign of the USA ?
Who spiritually twists, distorts, stunts, perverts, prostitutes, confuses, poisons, lies to and sells out the people of the USA ?
Are we to believe the awful state of the USA is due to just the bad luck of having the highest concentration of narcissists in any population ever ? Wow what a cohencidence.
And this is assuming its the new definition of a narcissist.

Meanwhile, the financial technocrats of the G7 conjure $50 billion from thin air, leveraging interest from Russia’s frozen assets, a slight of hand that Spengler would recognize as the final stage of Western decay…”

Canada-US Relations: For a Modern Definition of the National Interest [Feb 2025]
https://cpcml.ca/Tmlm2025/M55002.HTM#1
“As Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tries to secure his legacy in the last days of his ministry, his government’s response to the threats of US President Donald Trump to impose tariffs is, in one way or another, presented as defence of Canada’s ‘national sovereignty’, ‘economic security’ or ‘national security.’
The facts show this is not the case. The proposed schemes benefit narrow supranational interests which are clashing in the United States, and by extension, in Canada.
An important aim is to disinform public opinion by destroying the norms and standards the polity has used in the past as a measure to exercise judgement.
This is one of the significant matters of concern facing the Canadian polity. It is devastating to the coherence of the body politic which is left rudderless, without orientation or direction.
A polity requires publicly recognized standards and norms the people can count on to make judgements about the matters at hand. When definitions and regulations are given on a whim, secretly at the behest of narrow private forces which operate behind the scenes, the entire polity is left out of the discourse…

Laith Marouf on Activist News Network exposes that Mahmood Khalil, US pro-Palestine student -activist now in detention in Louisiana under threat of deportation, is a former British asset.
Also, Marouf reiterates how Russia abandoned Syria. 15,000 now killed there. And he says you can see how the multipolar world is shaping up. Expect in the future that Russia and China will draw a red line against any involvement in future blow-ups of defenseless states which can’t defend themselves against a stronger agressor.
Oh yeah, and Russia still has not delivered a defense system Iran bought and paid for.
Writing has been on the wall for a while, imo. Russia and China must think they can prevail and continue to make profit even as the world further descends into chaos and barbarism.

I find that some of the Syria activists say a lot of nonsense.
Russia has delivered several Su-35s to Iran this year. And Russian AD was already in place for the last Israeli attack, IIRC.
Russia also is sheltering thousands at their naval base to protect them from HTS.
Russia is not perfect, and as I have said several times it is not their job to save everyone in trouble.
TBH, I find a lot of the Syria activists online to be annoying. They come across as very entitled.

On the ‘comic opera’ propositions of UK and France to put “peacekeeper” invasion tadpoles in Ukraine, and Macron’s claims not to need permission from Russia:
It seems to me one of the least unlikely explanations for this lilliputian bravado is that they desperately need an official legal State of War with Russia to provide the legal basis for writing off thousands of contracts (probably mainly debt instruments) under which they are multiple times over bankrupt, as a result of betting the casino on winning in Ukraine.
This scenario presumably implies that they imagine they can send tripwires into Ukraine, get them destroyed by Russia, then use that as basis to cancel the debt instruments … … …
And then? How do they get out of this war with Russia before Russia swats the mosquito? My guess is their detailed plans for the next step consists of: “Well, we’ll deal with that when the time comes. It will all work itself out for the best”.

“This is an emergency announcement from Sir Keir Starmer to all UK citizens. We are at war with Russia. You are ordered to hide under the nearest table immediately and sing the national anthem. Don’t come out until you receive further instructions.”

There is talk of a US-controlled kill-switch on the F-35 that blocks any action by Germans or other buyers without authority from the US masters.
What I am wondering is whether Russia has hacked into that code yet? Isn’t it about time someone sent a few F-35’s to Ukraine for Russia to study?
And related: it is known (confirmed by Boeing whistleblowers) that ever since the 1970’s Boeing has had the technological capability to take 100% remote control of any Boeing passenger aircraft and pilot it remotely without any interaction of the pilots on board the aircraft. If Boeing can do it, maybe Russia can also hack into it. They have mamy Boeing aircraft in Russia, presumably they have looked into it by now.
So Mr Zelensky, when eventually you take off from Kiev in your presidential plane, heavily laden with crateloads of 1000 dollar bills and gold bullion, with the idea of fleeing to a safe haven in London … do spare a thought to the possibility that President Putin may in fact be remotely piloting your aircraft to a military base in Siberia …

The appeal to modern (last 1500 years) western philosophical ‘theorising’ is moot. it isn’t really proper theorising from basic principles as in a pure scienctific theory, except perhaps simplistic notions of Religions that postulate A God /Gods, heaven/hells, angels/demons .. Coke/Pepsi.
Most are derived attempts to smack square pegs into round holes excuses to maintain a real power structure based on physical might and violence of a wolf world. That empirical reality that needs support of such philosophies/religions to maintain the unworthy power structures dreamnt up some nice the collapse of the Roman Empire.
Why anyone needs anything more than the ‘collected works’ supposed thoughts and philosophy of Marcus Aurelius or some ancient spiritual beliefs known to humanity in their villages, that provided for day to day needs, basic plant medicines, knowledge of maternity, rituals of cleanliness, basic astronomy for cultivation etc … I don’t know.
The greatest needs of appeasing natural cataclysmic angry gods that send thunder, lighting, flood, drought and volcanoes has been now successfully understood by these western philosopher priestly recruits that were smart enough to follow through with the scientific method of theorising – plate tectonics is a marvel ! How many kids are taight it at school?
Anyhoo… I’m off to the other thread to try the same experiment.

What tax would I pay in Russia? It’s a valid question. This is my attempt at an answer:
Russian income tax is 13%, with some deductions for children.
Russian has three levels of sales tax: 0%, 10% and 20%.
0%:
– healthcare, basic medicine.
– certain pharmaceuticals (manufactured in Russia?): google translate of list
– schools, vocational training, university
– banking, insurance
– religious goods and services
– welfare benefits, state social housing
– pensions, severance pay
10%:
– most food, bread, milk, eggs, meat, vegetables, fruit, staples
– baby food, some foods for special dietary needs
– books, newspapers, magazines, educational material
– non-essential medical and sanitary goods
– museum, theatre, cultural and arts events
– public transport
– children’s clothes and footwear, children’s toys.
– electricity and water for residential use
20%:
– imports
– everything else
It turns out the Russian tax system was simplified under Putin.

$1000 bills were discontinued in 1934. Those left in circulation are quickly snatched up by collectors whenever they appear. $100 bills are the highest denomination still being issued.
Interesting note: Over 80% of $100 bills test positive for cocaine residue. Likewise, over 80% of $100 bills are in circulation outside the US. That is, less than 20% of $100 bills are in the US. Weird, huh?

China Develops Domestic EUV Tool, ASML Monopoly in Trouble
Mar 8th, 2025
China’s domestic extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography development is far from a distant dream. The newest system, now undergoing testing at Huawei’s Dongguan facility, leverages laser-induced discharge plasma (LDP) technology, representing a potentially disruptive approach to EUV light generation. The system is scheduled for trial production in Q3 2025, with mass manufacturing targeted for 2026, potentially positioning China to break ASML’s technical monopoly in advanced lithography. The LDP approach employed in the Chinese system generates 13.5 nm EUV radiation by vaporizing tin between electrodes and converting it to plasma via high-voltage discharge, where electron-ion collisions produce the required wavelength. This methodology offers several technical advantages over ASML’s laser-produced plasma (LPP) technique, including simplified architecture, reduced footprint, improved energy efficiency, and potentially lower production costs.

Just like sanctions stimulated the Russian economy, limiting access to chip making technology has spurred the Chinese to action.
Most don’t know that China is already a global leader in chip manufacturing.
The secondary chips market (for small cheaper devices and appliances) is dominated by China. These are the easier to make chips that don’t depend on cutting edge design but are ubiquitous in modern life. Phones, TVs, tablets, etc.

Carney visited the Notre Dame Cathedral before meeting with Macron at the Palais de l’Elysee. However, Macron isn’t expected to hold a joint news conference with Carney, a sign the French president might not want to upset Trump by siding with Canada.

Canada’s New Bankster Prime Minister Proclaims ‘New Era’ – of Austerity
https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2025/03/17/zbux-m17.html
“The Carney Liberal government will ruthlessly pursue the interests of Canadian big business against the working class at home, and in the imperialist drive to redivide the world through trade war and military conflict.
In his remarks Friday, Carney also adopted a more conciliatory tone toward Trump than Trudeau had in recent weeks. The one-time Goldman Sachs executive and ex-Governor of the Bank of Canada and Bank of England noted that both he and Trump have business experience in real estate.
He praised the president as a ‘deal-maker’ and urged they work together to ensure better relations between America and its ‘largest client in so many industries.’
Early Saturday, Carney made his first venture as prime minister onto the international stage, attending by video-conference call the meeting that British Prime Minister Keir Starmer convened to organize ‘a coalition of the willing’ to deploy troops from NATO countries inside Ukraine.
Like its traditional European allies, Canada’s ruling class is aghast at Trump’s apparent attempt to negotiate an agreement with Russia to end the Ukraine war over their heads, and views any end to the war short of a demonstrable Russian defeat as a major setback for its predatory strategic interests…”

Charles Schumer and some Democrats agreed with the Republican continuing resolution to fund the government. He promptly received Trump’s congratulations, as this acceded to his desires. There is no intelligible version of so-called Deep State theory where the senior Senator from New York isn’t one of the key operatives. Thus, according to these people, the so-called Deep State is working with Donald Trump, his alleged enemy! I imagine the faithful worshippers of Trump will simply dismiss this as a tactic in the face of Trump’s overwhelming popular mandate…but that’s an imaginary, not a fact. Trump did not quite win even 50% of the popular vote. That is not a mandate, save by a decree of God Trump. Others will likely simply ignore their own purported theory. Cognitive dissonance is a powerful thing.

The linked video is just pure Bullshit.
What the bullshitter is calling the default rate is the percentage that have been late on one payment.
That rate was much higher in 2017-2020 when Trump was president.
The claim that the govt is making people’s mortgage payments with taxpayer money is just a flat out lie.
The FHA doesn’t fund loans. It provides mortgage insurance to qualified borrowers. The loans come from FHA approved lenders (banks, credit unions, savings and loans). The premium that borrowers pay to fund the FHA are part of their monthly mortgage payments.
FHA operates entirely from the income received from mortgage insurance premiums paid by borrowers. It doesn’t cost the taxpayers anything.
Before WWII only 10% of US households owned their home. After WWII millions of households got FHA insured mortgages and by the 1960’s 60% of US Households were home owners. None of that cost a penny to taxpayers.
This is beginning to smell like DOGE scam where a successful govt program planned to be shut down so the the Wall Street venture capitalists can swoop in and make a profit.

Schumer’s biggest campaign donor is the Blackstone Group (private equity) and the biggest donor group is the finance industry. The head of Blackstone, the massive billionaire Steve Schwarzman, endorsed Trump in the 2024 election. It’s that simple, the oligarchy plays both sides and there will always be a paid-off wing of the Democratic Party that will side with the Republicans to serve the oligarchy when required. Schwarzman is also of course a Zionist, fully supporting whatever Israel does and crying “anti-semitism” against anyone that complains.
The US oligarchy has always owned the state, from the mid-1930s to the mid-1970s the oligarchy accepted a limited compromise with the working class. But as profits fell and domestic resistance to corporate power rose in the 1970s that compromise was tossed away and neoliberalism put in place. The greatest increase for neoliberalism was under the Democrat President Clinton. From the early 2010s the oligarchy has again changed its tactics as it has seen the increasing power of China, and the power of the Rest to push back against the Empire.
Trump is the equivalent of Bolsonaro in Brazil, as the remaining “crumbs” allowed for the working class are being removed as the oligarchy girds up for a fight with China and deepens its rentier and extractive activities at home to maintain their profits. After Trump there may well be another Democrat presidency, a la Obama, which serves to consolidate the changes made by Trump. Very much like the re-educated and hemmed in Lula who was allowed to gain the presidency after Bolsonaro.
The term “Deep State” mythologizes and obscures the reality of the independent bourgeois capitalist class that rules the United States and controls the state, as well as the dominant means of cultural production. It is as much a misdirection as is “woke”. With the change in oligarch tactics there are a lot of operatives in the state and media etc., that need to be replaced as they are too committed to the previous tactics, e.g. the Ukrainian anti-Russians etc., This is business as usual for the oligarchy, who will toss the previous oligarch-tools and replace them whenever that is required.

The FHA serves the interest of the real estate market, and that market has both big and small participants.
The distortion that the video draws to attention is that the FHA has been bent to service the interest of the biggest market players.
Do you dispute the credit worthiness statistics presented? Do you think a 3.5% down payment with a debt to income ratio that exceeds 43% is sustainable? Do you dispute that “The FHA made 556,841 ‘incentive payments’ to servicers over the past year to prevent foreclosures”?

German Tourists Detained for Weeks, Then Deported From U.S. (archived) – New York Times

German tourists’ ordeal reportedly ending as they are returned from US detention
Jessica Brösche to join Lucas Sielaff, who is reported to have returned to Germany on 6 March

A German tourist detained by US immigration authorities is due to be deported back to Germany on Tuesday after spending more than six weeks in detention, including eight days in solitary confinement.
Jessica Brösche, a 29-year-old tattoo artist from Berlin, will reportedly join Lucas Sielaff, 25, from Bad Bibra in Saxony-Anhalt, who is reported to have returned to Germany on 6 March, after being arrested at the Mexican border on 18 February before being detained for almost two weeks.
The families of the two tourists, who were detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Ice), had compared their ordeals to “a horror film”.
Both Germans were held at the Otay Mesa Detention Center, a prison in San Diego, California.
Their cases were followed closely by German consulate staff in the US and the foreign ministry in Berlin and share similarities with the fate of the British tourist Rebecca Burke. Burke, 28, a graphic artist from Monmouthshire, was handcuffed and taken to a detention facility in Washington state more than 11 days ago while trying to cross into the US on the Canadian border, according to her family.
All the incidents are being described as evidence of the immigration crackdown in the US since the inauguration of Donald Trump. Not only has there been a crackdown on entries into the US, but the increase in cases has reportedly caused a backlog, leading to delays in decisions on those in detention.
Brösche’s mother, Birgit, confirmed to German media on Tuesday that her daughter was on her way home. Brösche’s friend Nikita Lofving, whom the Berliner had intended to visit in Los Angeles, confirmed to the LA Times she had spoken to her friend.
Speaking to a journalist from ABC 10News San Diego in a phone interview on 1 March, Brösche said she had spent eight days in solitary confinement. She said: “It was horrible. Like, it’s really horrible. I just want to get home, you know? I’m really desperate.”
Lofving, who had been in constant contact with her friend, said: “[Brösche] says it was like a horror movie. They were screaming in all different rooms. After nine days, she said she went so insane that she started punching the walls and then she’s got blood on her knuckles.”
The staff at the prison had called a psychologist who wanted to prescribe anti-psychotic medicine to calm her down, but Brösche had refused to take anything, Lofving said.
Brösche’s mother told the Berlin tabloid BZ: “I will believe it [her release] only when I am able to take her in my arms.”
CoreCivic, the company that owns the Otay Mesa Detention Center, denied Brösche’s claims that she had been in solitary confinement, according to ABC 10News.
Brösche and Lofving had attempted to enter the US from Tijuana in Mexico on 25 January. The two were travelling with tattoo equipment. Lofving said that Brösche was arrested and taken away by officers on the border. The US immigration authorities, Ice, assumed Brösche was intending to work illegally in the US, Lofving said. Her friend was in possession of an Esta travel permit.
According to Brösche’s Instagram profile, she had only intended to stay in LA until mid-February. Germany’s foreign ministry confirmed it had worked together with its consulate general in LA to resolve the issue.
Sielaff returned to Germany last week after spending two weeks in detention, after his entry permit was cancelled at the Mexican border, amid suspicions by the US authorities that he had remained in the US longer than he was allowed.
He was arrested at the border point at San Ysidro on 18 February. He had entered the US on a tourist visa and with his girlfriend, Lennon Tyler, had subsequently visited Mexico where they had taken her dog to the vet. According to Tyler, on their return to the US, Sielaff had incorrectly answered a question as to where he lived, due to his poor grasp of English. He had said Las Vegas, where he was staying with Tyler, his fiancee, when he should have said Germany, where he permanently resides, she said.
After two weeks in detention, Sielaff was allowed to leave. His girlfriend said she booked him a flight from San Diego to Munich on 6 March. In an interview with the Swiss daily Tages-Anzeiger, Tyler warned people against travelling to the US. “Don’t come here,” she said. “Especially not if you’re on a tourist visa, and especially not over the Mexican border.”
US authorities have yet to issue a statement on the German cases.
Rebecca Burke’s father said on Monday that he was trying to get his daughter out of the detention centre, and had been in touch with the British consulate in San Francisco. He described the conditions in which she was being held as “horrendous”. She had been travelling on a tourist visa, but was told she should have applied for a working visa as she planned to stay with a family receiving accommodation in exchange for carrying out domestic chores.

Do you dispute the credit worthiness statistics presented?
Posted by: too scents | Mar 17 2025 18:15 utc | 79
I did point out the statistics that were presented in the video were a misrepresentation.
The video is claiming there are a record number of defaults its just a lie. The 13.4% it cites are not defaults and they are not a record number.
I also pointed out that if you look at the same statistical analysis reported for the FHA loans from 2017-2020 they were worse than the current statistics and that was before covid put a big dent in many homeowners ability to pay their mortgages.
There is no unusual quantity of defaults in the residential housing market that the FHA serves.

The appeal to modern (last 1500 years) western philosophical ‘theorising’ is moot. it isn’t really proper theorising from basic principles as in a pure scienctific theory …
DunGroanin | Mar 17 2025 9:50 utc | 62

Except that Edmund Husserl does exactly that. It took him a while to get there, a process known as his transzendentale Wende in the history of Philosophy, and betrayed by Martin Heidegger. But Husserl for once doesn’t hold back when he says his “Phänomenologie ist Philosophie als strenge Wissenschaft“.
Husserl also compares himself to Copernicus, for indeed his own „turn“ has many similarities. The metaphysics it exposes as wrong are resolved from ‚outside the box’, however. This is why it‘s a true paradigm change in the field. It all hangs on the notion of substance, imagined as eternal and unchanging, when it should be the substantial character of notion (nous) in the ever-present being-here-ness that makes for a first principle.
As a lemma, the Spenglerian analysis by von Hofmeister, which our Karlof1 wrote about as well, is also accessible from the vantage point of Husserl’s later work, especially the Krisis (1936). Husserl’s critique of machine logic – he calls it psychologismus – is rested on an argument that goes well beyond cultural history, as it’s both methodical and, in strict consequence, metaphysical.
The Krisis is no easy read even in its original German, and seeing the issues with other translations of Husserl into English, I can’t give you a good hint where to start exploring it. I gave a link last week, but that was frankly quite in tongue-in-cheek, as the linked article most of all shows how little understanding there is even about the most basic concepts this book attempts to bephilosophizzle. I pledge the esteemed barflies to remain curious and patient about that; I’ll keep trying my best here to get it across.

[DG] simplistic notions of Religions that postulate A God /Gods, heaven/hells, angels/demons …

@all – It’s a simplistic thought that by refusal of SkyPilot-like notions of God you are free to dismiss the concept right there, out of hand, for this will indeed leave a god-shaped hole in any attempt at serious systematical thinking. The vice versa also holds, by the way. Now you are certainly free to dismiss this, too, but in that case I will make use of my own freedoms and call you out as being uneligible for systematical arguments in at least some cases. There’s nothing wrong with that I guess, but I would prefer to keep such discussions polite and disentangled if possible, as in „agree to disagree“.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum responds to Trump’s threats
“So, you voted to build a wall.
Well, dear Americans, even if geography isn’t your strong suit—since you consider America a country rather than a continent—you should know that beyond that wall, there are 7 billion people.
And since the word ‘people’ might not resonate with you, let’s call them ‘consumers.’
These 7 billion consumers can switch from iPhones to Samsung or Huawei in less than two days.
They can swap Levi’s for Zara or Massimo Dutti and, within six months, replace Ford and Chevrolet with Toyota, KIA, Mazda, Honda, Hyundai, Volvo, Subaru, Renault, or BMW—brands that often outperform in quality.
They can cancel Direct TV, and though they might not want to, they can stop watching Hollywood films in favor of higher-quality productions from Latin America or Europe, which offer richer narratives and better cinematography.
Believe it or not, people can skip Disney and instead visit the Xcaret resort in Cancun, or explore destinations in Mexico, Canada, South America, and Europe.
Even in Mexico, you’ll find better hamburgers than McDonald’s, with superior nutritional value.
Have you ever seen pyramids in the U.S.?
Egypt, Mexico, Peru, Guatemala, and Sudan all have ancient wonders—none of them in the U.S.
If they did, Trump would probably have bought and sold them by now.
We know that Nike isn’t the only sneaker brand—there’s Adidas, and even Mexican brands like Panam.
We understand the economy more than you think.
And we also know that if these 7 billion consumers stop buying American products, unemployment will rise, and your economy—trapped within its self-imposed wall—will crumble to the point where you’ll beg us to tear it down.
We didn’t want to do this, but… You wanted a wall?
Well, you got one.”
——-
This is what I thought could derail Trump. He’s not in a strong enough position economically, militarily, or politically to take on multiple other countries at once.
With Mexico and Canada pushing back, it all comes down to what Europe does on April 2nd.

WATCH | Former African Union Ambassador Arikana Chihombori-Quao discusses Niger’s move to nationalize its uranium resources. In December 2024, Niger assumed operational control of French company Orano’s subsidiary SOMAÏR and revoked mining permits for other projects, including the Imouraren site, one of the world’s largest uranium deposits.
She says the decision reflects growing dissatisfaction among African nations with foreign exploitation of their mineral wealth. In 2010, Niger exported uranium worth €3.5 billion to France but received only €459 million—earning as little as €0.80/kg while global prices hovered around €200/kg.
“And this is only one mineral, now imagine the countries taking inventory of all their minerals and benefiting from their natural resources like the rest of the countries in the Western world,” she argues.
