Netanyahu scuttling the cease-fire deal over trivial shit, but he possibly has backing from the US for this:
——————
Israel Hayom [Israeli newspaper]:
The United States and Israel are establishing joint teams to implement Trump’s displacement plan on the ground, and joint American-Israeli teams are trying to find countries that will agree to receive the Gazans.
Israeli Energy Minister:
We must demand the release of the two kidnapped men who appeared in yesterday’s Qassam video in exchange for the release of Palestinian prisoners. [Teri: not sure what he is talking about here.]
https://t-me.translate.goog/s/Sohaibpress?_x_tr_sl=auto&_x_tr_tl=en
————————
No-one ever says where the displaced are going (note that the Israelis refer to them as “leaving” rather than as being forced out of their own homes and territory and say the camps have been “evacuated” rather than saying ethnically cleansed):
————–
40,000 Palestinians leave northern West Bank camps: Katz
The Israeli defence minister says he has ordered the army to stay in the occupied West Bank refugee camps for the next year.
In a statement quoted by the Israeli media, Katz said: “40,000 Palestinians have so far evacuated from the Jenin, Tulkarem and Nur Shams refugee camps, and are now empty of residents. UNRWA activity in the camps has also been stopped.” He referred to the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, which Israel has banned.
“We will not return to the reality that was in the past. We will continue to clear refugee camps,” the minister said.
The Israeli army has been carrying out a large operation in the northern West Bank.
It announced that Israeli tanks will be used in the Jenin operation – for the first time in the West Bank since 2002.

Multiple reports of further bombings in southern Lebanon. israel was supposed to leave by Feb 18, which was an extension of the original date.
Things are not looking good.

Re: @ my comment at #3 above: I found out what Netanyahu is talking about vis a vis the two Israeli hostages he wants released in exchange for the release of the Palestinians that should have been freed yesterday. Netanyahu is adding conditions to every step of the agreement. It isn’t as though nobody knew these other two Israelis were still being held – they were already scheduled to be released with the next prisoner exchange.
Hamas had two Israeli hostages in a car watching the release ceremony of the other 4 Israelis yesterday. Hamas posted a video of them speaking to the Israeli government and public.
————
Two Israeli Hostages Brought to Watch Release Ceremony in Gaza, Hamas Video Shows
Hostages Guy Gilboa Dallal and Evyatar David can be seen pleading with the Israeli PM to secure their release from Gaza: ‘Netanyahu, our friends are going home after 500 days together. We beg you, please, this is all we want, save us’
Hamas released a video on Saturday night showing hostages Guy Gilboa-Dalal and Evyatar David watching the release ceremony of Israeli hostages Omer Shem Tov, Eliya Cohen, and Omer Wenkert from the window of a car across from the event.
In the video, the two pleaded to the camera, urging Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to bring them home. “Netanyahu, our friends are going home after 500 days together,” they said. “We beg you, please, this is all we want, save us. Help us, people of Israel, we want to be like them.” […]

They flew only to test that they acheived nothing, far from scaring the gathered crowd, but further enraging the resistance people and pushing their will to follow the goals set by Seyyed Nasrallah on liberation of the region…a gratuituous provocation and a sign of their bad taste, lack of any human and civic value left and total descendance to their moral bottom by their disrespect either of the alive or the dead…

https://t.me/presstv/130476
The people were previously peacefully and respectfully mourning their admired leader…many came on foot under the snow through the mountains of Lebanon from the Beqaa Valley…many slept at site in and around the stadium in a very cold night to assure their place in the ceremony…
People of all confessions and religious sects, with their eyes brighting, met there to say the last goodbye to this man who will live forever in the minds and hearts of a lot of peoples around the world as a symbol of the necessary fight against anglozionist imperialism and fascism….

Peace be on nasrallah’s soul, he was a true charismatic leader that stood against the nazi child murderers and stood by gaza.
As long as they will keep acting and thinking like monsters and supremacists, there will be resistance.
Israel broke all rules of humanity.
Israel carried terror attacks.
Israel butchered civilians and kids in their schools.
Israel used famine.
Israel fabricated lies and propaganda.
Israel made torture camps and tortured even well known doctors.
Israel used IA to murder people via lavender program.
They have reached the culminating point of evil, hatred, supremacy and murder.
The day of Evil Israel’s fall will come.

The mourners were throwing pieces of fabric to the coffins of the martyrs that were then rubbed against the coffins and returned to the crowd…as if the people would be considering them saints and would wish to keep some blessing from their still on Earth souls before they are finally buried…

Very moving ceremony…even for non Lebanese people….
Around 1.4 million people could have gathered there to mourn Seyyed Nasrallah and Sheikh Sayyiedine…and the rest of fallen along with them…
At the same time, multitudinary in absentia funerals were also held in Yemen, Iraq, and a motorcade took place in Skardu ( Pakistan ) through the tortuous mountain roads…

Testimony by really young journalist based in Moscow Fiorella Isabel, present at the funeral, who puts into words not only what she has witnessed, that hundreds of thousands of peoples from every confessional and even non confessional walk of life has come to mourn these leaders of the resitance, but also conveys very well what those watching could have felt around tghe world…Far from despair before the huge lose of these martyrs, but just a lesson on strength and resilience of the human spirit for the abandoned peoples of the West, orphan of any dign leadership, moral and human values based guidance…
https://t.me/InessaFromYoutube/8024

This morning Israel attacked South Lebanon violating the ceasefire again, in attempts to intimidate and stop thousands from gathering. They also flew their fighter jets very close above us. They failed to intimidate anyone & instead incited more fury.
I will never forget this day. Tears came to my eyes from seeing the sea of thousands united as one.
It’s something we have yet to achieve in the US at this magnitude. It’s not religion that I saw lead today, as I saw Christians & the nonbelievers here also, but a connected people through something greater than themselves and a spirit that will not die no matter what’s thrown at it.

The best sense of defeat for the Israeli haters in charge, who tried to disrupt the funerals even by invading Lebanese air space in front of th whole world, “because they are worth it” ( with no government stating a word of protest…the same way they are comitting their genocide on Gaza in plain view…), is hearing the words of this Iraqi man who tells that he came to Lebanon out of love for the martyrs…( not thinking of the zionists….)
https://t.me/almayadeenespanol/122599
You are not in the minds of all these millions of people, you did not success in filling their hearts with hatred, which is your motto of life as you rot ( like they show Hamas militants returning the Israeli hostages in such a good shape, not invalid and out of their minds as the Israelis return the Palestinian kept for decades in Israeli jails…)
You just forced yourselves present in the news by sending your fighter jets…otherwise, you would have passed inadverted today…you were trying to be the dead at the funeral ( and never better said..), the bride at the wedding, the baby in the baptism, as you usually do without rest for the past 80 years…you, simply, could not face any mourning that is not for your “chosen” people…and thus you felt the need to make an appearance…
Pathetic…

Tanks sent into Jenin for first time in 20yrs.
Hamas refuses to renegotiate or provide concessions for the release of the Palestinian prisoners that the occupation have delayed releasing.
Occupation says it is defending Druze in southern Syria, that it demands HTS withdrawal from certain villages and will keep south of Damascus a demilitarised buffer zone.
Occupation bombs various sites in Lebanon as “part of the ceasefire agreement” .

Warm thanks to MoA contributors for moving details of the Nasrallah funeral. A day of historic resistance and learning anew the full extent of imperial depravity-slash-desperation. Warplane fighter-pilots buzzing thousands in Beirut bear an insatiable yearning in their hearts which aligns perfectly with their military mission: they so fervently need to be hated, to excel all rivals in rarified evil, so as to be hated even more than the next very bad guy.
The most effective antisemitic campaign in history, much more persuasive than anything Martin Luther or Adolf Hitler ever wrote or did, has been Israel’s continuation of their longstanding initiative to make Jews the most despised people on Earth; and to make racist extermination a weapon of war.
With the suspension of simple, straightforward prisoner-exchange terms, it now looks like they’re trashing the so-called ceasefire decisively. It’s almost as if some folks are agreement incapable!

Already, the UK taxpayer has shelled out at least £18 million pounds – for two consecutive English governments Sunak’s and Starmer’s, spy flight over Gaza from Cyprus – to send back targeting info to the Zionists who are committing genocide to bomb and kill civilians in Palestine.
Meanwhile the UK is on its knees, with the cost-of-living crise getting worse – and the cost of energy going through the roof – poverty and homelessness are widespread – and public services have been deeply cut with more to come – add in that people are disillusioned with politics, and lying politicians – and Britain look ripe for a widespread uprising.

Israeli journalist Itay Anghel filmed an episode for Israel’s Channel 12 while moving through Syria and its military bases. The upcoming episode of “The Truth,” titled “Welcome to Syria,” will air tomorrow on Israel’s Channel 12. Anghel reported from the heart of Damascus exploring abandoned Syrian military bases and Iranian command centers.”

Netanyahu is feeling very confident and pugilistic. Not only flagrantly breeching the cease-fire in Gaza, but preparing for re-invasion of same. Added to that, he is positioning tanks and troops for at least a year in the West Bank and demanding that the new Syrian army remain above Damascus, as Israel is claiming the rest of the country as a “buffer zone”. Per the agreement from 1974, the Golan Heights was the buffer zone and still belonged to Syria; since Trump’s first term in office, he and Israel have claimed that Israel “owns” the Golan Heights.

Israeli army says it increased ‘military readiness’ around Gaza
A brief statement comes after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel is ready to resume fighting “at any moment” in the Strip as a ceasefire deal between Hamas and Israel hangs by a thread.
“Following a situational assessment, it was decided to increase the operational readiness in the area surrounding the Gaza Strip,” the army statement said.
On Saturday, Israel’s government failed to release 620 Palestinian prisoners as agreed in the truce deal after Hamas released six living captives, throwing the ceasefire’s survivability into question.

Israel says West Bank operation will last for a year as it sends tanks to Jenin
Continued operation in Palestinian territory will leave 40,000 displaced people unable to return home
Israel has sent tanks to the West Bank city of Jenin, in the first deployment of its kind in the area in more than two decades, as troops intensify operations in the territory that officials said will last at least a year.
The Israeli defence minister, Israel Katz, said on Sunday that the latest operation across the West Bank was expanding, and that troops would remain in the area’s urban hotspots “for the coming year”, meaning approximately 40,000 people displaced by the fighting will not be able to return to their homes.
The Israel Defense Forces said they were sending tanks to the northern city of Jenin for the first time since the height of the second intifada, or Palestinian uprising, in 2002. […]

Israel will not accept the presence of forces from Syria’s newly established army in the southern outskirts of the capital, Damascus, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said.
Israeli soldiers, he added, will remain on Mount Hermon and in a buffer zone in the occupied Golan Heights for “an unlimited period of time”. He also demanded the “full demilitarisation of southern Syria from troops of the new Syrian regime”.
Israel and Syria signed a ceasefire agreement in 1974, designating the Golan Heights as a demilitarised buffer zone.
However, on the same day that former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad was ousted, Israel announced that its troops were moving into a UN-patrolled buffer zone, which has separated Israeli and Syrian forces in the occupied Golan Heights since 1974.

It was a nice send off for Sayid Hassan Nasrallah. I will never forget his last speech. He stood up for the people of Gaza while the other Arab leaders either watched or helped Israel in killing Palestinians.
May both Sayid Hassan Nasrallah and Sayid Safieddine Hashem rest in peace. May God have mercy on their souls.

Is the UK Spying on Hamas for Israel?
February 21, 2025
Royal Air Force surveillance flights towards Gaza keep taking place when hostages are released, Mark Curtis and Phil Miller report.
By Mark Curtis and Phil Miller
Declassified UK
The Royal Air Force (RAF) has operated surveillance flights near Gaza on all five days of the ceasefire that Hamas released hostages, Declassified has found.
No spy planes were sent towards the strip on the other 20 days of the ceasefire.
The latest flight, by a Shadow R1 spy plane, occurred on Feb. 8 when three Israeli men — Eli Sharabi, Or Levy and Ohad Ben Ami — became free from captivity. Evidence found by Declassified suggests the spy plane was in the air at the same time.
Other hostages were released on Feb. 1 and Jab. 19, 25 and 30 as part of the ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas. Among them was the British-Israeli, Emily Damari. [On Thursday, Hamas returned the bodies of four dead hostages.]
RAF aircraft were also in the air when these hostages were released, data indicates.
The planes take off from Britain’s air base on Cyprus, RAF Akrotiri, and head in the direction of Gaza, when they turn their transponders off.
Prior to the ceasefire, such flights were an almost daily occurrence with the U.K. government claiming they were helping Israel find hostages.

Palestinian residents arrested for installing cameras in classrooms:
@Mistaclim
After a series of harassments, including the burning of the mosque, the digging of “children’s graves” near the school, and the violent attack on the school in Al Mu’arrajat by settlers, the Palestinian residents decided to install security cameras in the classrooms. The army arrived at the scene, arrested the four camera installers, and prohibited the installation of the cameras. According to the testimony of the activists on the scene, while the detainees were inside the military vehicle, their heads were covered with garbage bags and their hands were handcuffed.
Only those who do not want the crimes of the occupation and the violence of the settlers to be documented have a reason to prevent the installation of the cameras.

Disregarding official recognition and focusing purely on the percentage of the national population in attendance, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah’s funeral (25.9%) appears to have the highest recorded percentage in history.
Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah (2025) – 25.9% of Lebanon’s population (1.4 million out of 5.4 million).
Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini (1989) – 16.67% of Iran’s population (10 million out of ~60 million).
C.N. Annadurai (1969) – Estimated 10-12% of Tamil Nadu’s population (~15 million attendees, but Tamil Nadu’s population was around 100-120 million at the time).
Since funerals with more significant numbers were held in far more populous countries, the national population’s attendance percentage was lower than that of Nasrallah’s funeral in Lebanon.
Thus, based on available data, Nasrallah’s funeral had the highest percentage of national population attendance in recorded history.

notes that the Golan Heights have great strategic importance for Israel – not just in strictly military terms but as a major source of freshwater, and highly fertile zone for agricultural production. Israel is heavily reliant on the ports of Haifa and Eilat for maintaining imports of vital goods. Activity at Eilat has already been constrained by Houthi missile attacks, and both of these ports could be completely shut down in case of a major war, imposing a serious strategic risk for the country. The Golan offers an alternate channel for domestic food production, providing a critical buffer for domestic self-sufficiency amid a crisis.

Australian Defence Force officer stripped of security clearance over loyalty to Israel
An officer in the Australian Army has been stripped of his security clearance because Asio believes he is more loyal to Israel than Australia, and at risk of being exploited by the Mossad.
The man told Asio interviewers he did not view Israel as a foreign government and that he would share classified information with the Israel Defense Forces if they asked for it.
Asio said the officer, who is Jewish and served 19 years in the Australian military, withheld information from Australian officials about training courses he had undertaken in Israel – where he is not a citizen – which included self-defence, security and firearms training.
THE MINDSET OF THE MAJORITY OF JEWS THE WORLD OVER:
HWMW told Asio: “Zionism is an essential theme within Judaism. Judaism mandates the loyalty of a Jew to his people and to the Land of Israel.”
He said most Australian Jews do not volunteer to serve in the Australian Defence Force, but rather the Israel Defense Forces. He said he volunteered to serve in the ADF “as I felt a strong sense of belonging to Australia and I wanted to give back to the country and demonstrate the importance of serving here in Australia as opposed to the IDF”.
“It seems that events have now turned on me.”

The Gaza ceasefire deal is in jeopardy – after Israel suspends the release of over 600 Palestinian prisoners, despite Hamas delivering on its end of Saturday’s swap. We get reactions from Palestinians who are still waiting for their loved ones…”

For the first time in over 20 years, Israel has deployed tanks in the West Bank, after expelling 40,000 Palestinians from refugee camps.
This is a prelude to full annexation, and makes a mockery of the ceasefire agreement that Israel continues to violate.
We are witnessing ethnic cleansing — and our government’s ongoing failure to defend international law is utterly, utterly shameful.
Palestinians are human beings who deserve self-determination.
That is why we will continue to demand economic sanctions, a full arms embargo, and the only path to peace: an end to the occupation of Palestine.

Dr. Mansour Mansour @DrMansourMansou
Israel is pushing forward with the Greater Israel project, having rejected every Arab and Muslim initiative for a two-state solution.
Today, Minister Katz effectively declared the annexation of southern Syria up to Damascus, violating the 1974 ceasefire. Meanwhile, in southern Lebanon, Israel refuses to withdraw from strategic positions, openly defying UN Resolution 1701 and the U.S.-brokered ceasefire from just two months ago.
Israel is steadily steering the region toward war.

Zionism is not at all an essential part of Judaism, nor is Judaism an essential part of Zionism. He’s lying.
I spent a few weeks in the company of an Australian Jew in Israel in 1987. His Jewish family were extremely racist against Palestinians, laughing about the brutal constraints of their life under occupation. I would say that that Zionism.
But I realised later that he befriended me in Crete because my nose looks Jewish from my Polish Jewish Great grandfather in England who practised his faith in this country.
He had left Poland for England because he sensed the Ugly Zionism rearing its ugly head.
That religious gene evolved in my life into Islam and in Islam I also detest Political Islam which is the Muslim equivalent of Zionism . In my view it is spiteful, racist, bigoted and deceitful.
Asio is absolutely correct in withdrawing his security clearance.
Typical Guardian disinformation.
My French grandfather on my mother’s side was prevented from serving in England in WW2 because he was French.

Netanyahu declares that Israel will not allow the forces of the new regime in Syria to get based south of Damascus.
Israel purports to have the power and authority to determine, unilaterally, that the Syrian capital is the new southern border of Syria.
I honestly love this declaration very much because
A. We told you Assad was politically important
B. Syria will have to fight
C. Israel commits itself to bloodshed, anxiety, and instability till its last day. Which is a good thing. There can be no rest for genocidal demons.
Israel is trying to grow its size at the expense of its neighbors. The Arab world must speak clearly and act decisively to atop this. I believe it will.
Very soon all normalization will be off the table, and existing agreements will start to erode, quickly.

The US has 43,000 troops in the Middle East already and has mercenaries in Gaza, Plus, Trump has not ruled out sending troops to help Israel if they say they need them. So one has to take all that into account.
The below is from Oct; 4 months ago. The numbers now might be higher.
———-
3 Oct ’24. WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. has increased its military presence in the Middle East by several thousand troops, sending an array of fighter jets and other aircraft to bolster the protection of U.S. forces and allies.
The decision brings the total number of American troops in the region to as many as 43,000, including more than a dozen warships.
Israel’s latest surge in attacks in Lebanon, including strikes that killed Iran-backed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallahand several of his top commanders, and Iran firing at least 180 ballistic missiles at Israel are significant escalations that have fueled fears of all-out war in the Middle East.
Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has increased the readiness levels of additional U.S. forces so they are prepared to deploy for any contingency, said Air Force Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder, Pentagon spokesman. […]

‘And We warned the Children of Israel in the Scripture, “You will certainly cause corruption in the land twice, and you will become extremely arrogant. And We warned the Children of Israel in the Scripture, “You will certainly cause corruption in the land twice, and you will become extremely arrogant.’
The chapter continues that if the Jews return to extreme arrogance , they will again be punished. The Jews know these verses and they are deliberately defying God.
They might also be defying International Law etc, but compared with defying Allah that is insignificant. This is my evidence that if God has prophecied a Jewish Empire, it will never be a racist, arrogant Empire. God will never give Power to such a corrupt , racist entity.
After this travesty of Judaism, if the Jews finally relinquish Zionism, which in reality is a scam by the Khazars, they might be given a Mosaic Empire.
I believe and trust in God’s Guarantee that Hexwill completely destroy and punish this arrogance, even if we are currently unable to do so.

From Reuters
Massive crowds mourn Hezbollah’s slain leader Nasrallah
A Lebanese security source estimated the crowd at about a million people.

Posted by: psychohistorian | Feb 23 2025 23:28 utc | 50

Western backed Lebanese President Aoun told an Iranian delegation attending the Nasrallah funeral that “Lebanon has grown tired of the wars of others on its land,” apparently referring to Iranian support for Hezbollah. Aoun was also quoted telling the Iranians “Countries should not interfere in the internal affairs of other countries.” It is not clear if this latter utterance occurred before or after the low-level fly-bys over the funeral proceedings by Israeli jets. Prior to this provocation, Israel’s army had released video footage purporting to be the bombing strikes which killed the Hezbollah leader.

Hamas is suspending negotiations for now:
——————-
Hamas will suspend negotiations unless Israel frees 602 Palestinian prisoners in exchange for the six Israeli captives released yesterday, said Hamas official Mahmoud Mardawi.
In a Telegram statement, Mardawi urged mediators to pressure Israel to uphold the ceasefire agreement.
https://www.middleeasteye.net/live-blog/live-blog-update/hamas-says-negotiations-halted-until-israel-frees-palestinian-prisoners?nid=418958&topic=Israel%2527s%2520war%2520on%2520Gaza&fid=542607

Trump’s position:
————–
The White House said on Sunday that it supports Israel’s decision to delay releasing 600 Palestinian prisoners who were set to be freed after Hamas released six Israeli captives in exchange on Saturday.
President Donald Trump is prepared to support Israel in “whatever course of action it chooses regarding Hamas,” a statement from National Security Council spokesman Brian Hughes said.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday said the prisoner release would be delayed until Hamas ends its ceremonies while freeing Israeli captives.
Hamas has called the delay a “blatant violation” of the truce and said Netanyahu is engaging in “procrastination and stalling tactics” to undermine the agreement.

Israel is all aghast at the “displays” of Hamas during the prisoner releases, but this is the sort of disgusting, disrespectful things the Israelis do all the time to the Palestinians:
————-
Israeli forces attack funeral in occupied West Bank
The Wafa news agency reports that Israeli troops attacked mourners attending the funeral of a Palestinian man in the town of al-Issawiya near occupied East Jerusalem.
Nael Obeid, 46, was released last week as part of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas. He spent 21 years in detention and died on Saturday after falling from the roof of his house, the news report said.
Israeli soldiers stormed the town and fired tear gas at the cemetery and nearby streets during the funeral.
The attack took place as Israeli forces stepped up raids and mass detentions across the occupied West Bank. On Sunday, Israeli tanks rolled into Jenin for the first time in more than 20 years as the government ordered the military to prepare for an “extended stay”.

Hence there is no room for these gewads / pimps to USUKIS like HTS to impose USUKIS colonialism on Syria.
Stick to main stream Islam . So many sufis and tareekis and alawis think that joining the Jihadis is a substitute for reforming their aqeeda/ understanding of Islam.
That is exactly the same as Liberal Jew thinking that Geniciding the Muslims is going to compensate for their Western lifestyles. Violence doesn’t compensate for prayer. It’s the opposite Jihad is for Allah, not for worldly power.

Trump’s bad behaviour and teenage hell-raising will encourage all sorts of other atrocious behaviour among other racist , genocide supporters.
That’s the effect he intended, as a rogue populist politician. The world is his stage. Look at the consequences of World King Bojo telling Zelensky not to make peace with Russia.
And he can deny all responsibility.
The populist enters the stage knowingly exacerbating a catastrophic genocide in order create a space for their own ego.
Then, like BoJo , he believes his own bullshit and acts like a clown.
Trump will be exactly the same. He has in two weeks done enough damage to have himself impeached by the adults in New York.

The break up of the Ottoman Empire is primarily responsible for the basket-case that is today known as the Middle East. The Sykes–Picot Agreement of 1916, between the United Kingdom and France, with assent from Russia and Italy, is largely responsible for the partitioning and continuing control of the lands that is the ME today.

Displaying a BTC QR code would have brought a LOT of income over 10 years.
It could still be a good idea today.

Israeli journalist has a free hand to wander around inside Lebanese military complexes.
“Israeli journalist films inside Syrian military bases for Channel 12, even he was surprised that he was allowed to do this.
Israeli journalist Itay Anghel filmed an episode for Israel’s Channel 12 while moving through Syria and its military bases. He said “I cannot believe myself as an Israeli that I can walk around here”, He showcased images of “secret Syrian facilities hidden for years” and stated, “Everything here is available; I can even take the warheads of the missiles.”
The upcoming episode of “The Truth,” titled “Welcome to Syria,” will air tomorrow on Israel’s Channel 12. Anghel reported from the heart of Damascus exploring abandoned Syrian military bases and Iranian command centers.”

About the book “Zionism, Israel and the Arab”:
Before the Arab rebellion in 1938, Draper argues there was a moment in which socialist workers of the Jewish community and the oppressed Arab Fellahin shared political interest to oppose British imperialism which was “based on two ruling classes, Arab landlords and Zionist capitalists.” The partition plans, (Peel partition plan, 1937 and UN Partician Plan , 1947) were not meant “to achieve any real solution to the Palestine a question, and cannot….the socialist working class of the Jewish territory (chose) to follow it’s Zionist leadership in achieving a separate state.” Draper does not deny the expansionist direction Zionism took, nor that that tendency existed from its beginnings. The book also explains how the systematic land-grab by the Israelis took place from 1948 to 1953 under the Absentee Properties Law of 1950, in which, when Arabs were driven off their lands, the usurping Israeli could claim the land had been abandoned and therefore take it over. Always, the writer points out, the Israeli government has maintained that it can’t do anything about the condition of the Arab masses until the Arab war lords become willing to make a settlement. One can see in this read how these historical threads are running through today’s problems, but, since the book ends with the year 1958, perhaps, it doesn’t anticipate the Nazi-style horror that Israhell currently is inflicting on the Palestinians. Hal Draper died in 1990.

89 – Whatever the failings of the Assad government, it would not have allowed an Israeli to walk around its facilities like that. It is as though Mossad is the new government of Syria, behind a thin “Islamist” mask.

@77 Menz
“Perhaps one of our resident MOB historians can suggest a couple of links that will help understand why the Palestinians can’t rely on the Arab World for salvation.”
That is not straightforward, but “rely” is the main word, as well as “Arab World” (vs. say the Umma).
Giyane touches on much of this, and the modern national alegiances with the west are an important factor, as well as the different political concepts of the region. Those are all also economic and security based, that is to say where the local populations themselves also focus on their own stability, much as they dislike “Israel” and the US (the UK is not as badly regarded but SHOULD be being more careful to distance themselves from current events). Simply put, most prefer peace.
For historical accounts there are many many that are pertinent. These go from thesis on earliest history and tribal / cultural realities, through the introduction of Islam and the various related empires, up to more recent history. These are all very important and explain much, but it is the more recent history which explains what has most sway on events (so far) regarding how positions are currently taken (imo).
I think Craig Murray writes on the region but I have not read his works, so I will just throw in one book that I happened on in another thread in conversation. I have not read it, it will be biased undoubtedly, but it takes a reader to a time that serves as introduction to the main broader western (and Russian) influence in the region. Western influence actually goes back much earlier, to Roman times at least, to earlier Greek conquest also. In fact ‘early europeans’ inhabited at least to levant during the last glaciation, and so some include that reality also.
Anyway, The Tournament of Shadows linked below might just explain better how the various middle eastern nations came to take the positions they now hold in the modern regional picture, via last century, how those are by necessity also dependent on external factors, especially due to modernisation and integration in the wider world economy . Ergo, it is not something any particularly want to destroy by going into conflict with, or for, any of the major powers.

90 – Draper was a Trotskyist who later took off in “independent Marxist” directions. As with many of these people, he was also of Jewish origin.
While it could be argued Jewish and Arab workers had the same class interests, doing something about it would have depended on class origin mattering more to them than ethnic or religious differences. It didn’t. Despite a leftist tinge to some early Zionism, Ben Gurion professed to be dumbfounded by the way Zionist left groups would emphasize tiny ideological differences among themselves. He may have had a point but he clearly was repelled by Marxist-tinged dogmatism as opposed to Jewish nationalism. He would have rejected the idea that Jews and Arabs were working-class brothers. The Jabotinsky trend in Zionism, which is now dominant, makes no pretence of being left-wing in any way.

My view is that the Trump administration does not want the Gaza bombing to be resumed by Israel, but it has to tread much more carefully here than in Ukraine and Europe. An open spat with Netanyahu will energise AIPAC etc. to put pressure on Congress and the Senate. Trump needs the Congress and the Senate on his side to carry forward his many (other) programs.
So his strategy seems to be to support whatever Netanyahu and his gang say, but publicly leaving it to them to decide on the next course of action (which he says he will support). This tactic also keeps the rabid Zionist dogs on leash. But behind the scenes, one Steve Witkoff is telling the Zionists to carry the ceasefire forward (with suitable threats and inducements I suppose). I therefore expect the second phase of the ceasefire to (ultimately) to start.

96 gb_grave — Trump’s strategy:
I had thought about that likelihood, but the 2000lb bombs are worrisome. I have read they are not really deliverable except somewhere that doesn’t have air cover. Could, would Trump possibly prohibit them from being used for now?
