News & views related to the war in Palestine …

Comments

Rarely in my life have I been so deeply shaken, to the core, as by the persistent Trump statements and plans about the Palestinians and the rabid unbridled language of highest Israeli officials and public.
It’s unconscionable, a people being subjected to genocide by US/Israel is now being planned for expulsion from their land before the eyes and ears of the whole world.
What has become of the human race?
Frome Gaza news now:
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu:
“I have just concluded a four-hour in-depth discussion in the Political and Security Cabinet.
We all expressed our outrage over the appalling situation of our three hostages who were released last Saturday.
We all also welcomed President Trump’s demand to release our hostages by noon on Saturday, and we all also welcomed the president’s revolutionary vision for the future of Gaza.
In light of Hamas’s announcement of its decision to violate the agreement and not release our hostages, last night I instructed the IDF to mobilize forces inside and around the Gaza Strip.
This operation is being carried out during these hours. It will be completed in the near future.
The decision I made unanimously in the cabinet is:
‘If Hamas does not return our hostages by noon on Saturday, the ceasefire will end, and the IDF will return to heavy fighting until Hamas is defeated once and for all.’”
– – –
Trump before meeting with the Jordanian King in DC:
The United States may support an Israeli annexation of the West Bank – ‘that would be a very nice thing, it’s going to work’
Trump: we will take Gaza and make it a pearl. Gaza will be a major asset for peace rather than a source of war
Hamas is a bunch of thugs, they are the weakest people
Trump : Gaza will be under the administration of the “American authority”
Asked by what law he will control Gaza: By America’s authority
Trump, in response to a question about the possibility of transferring two million people:
– Yes, this is a small number and percentage compared to other events that have taken place around the world. They are living under destruction and they should live in a better place.
Trump: “Moving” 2 Million Palestinians Out of Gaza Is Not Difficult.

Jordan is an American vassal. Now it’s up to Egypt.
If Egypt does not fold, Trump has few allies in the region.
This situation is a football that MBS has been trying to avoid. He’s still a Prince with several other princes contending to become King. Mishandling this could sink his ambitions.
He’s got to keep Trump sweet while maintaining solidarity with Arabs.

@206,
Yes, Jordan is a vassal but I am not expecting miracles from Egypt either. Hope I am wrong, but the tendency so far from these Arab rulers is to cave quite quickly when it’s actually necessary to stay firm.
It’s truly humiliating at this point.

Saturday local time is going to be a big event in this conflict.
Does Hamas offer any prisoners to exchange, and if not, what does Trump/Bibi do?
If it is punitive, does the local Axis (Hezbollah, Ansarallah, IRGC, and/or Iraqi militia) respond?
Trump is daring someone to “test” him. He said that Hamas “thinks” they are tough guys.
I’d say fighting a genocide with martyrs makes a strong case. Trump is on the wrong side of global opinion with this.
But if he can pull it off, many countries will bend the knee rather than risk getting spanked by America.
High stakes.

The Things
The things of which we cannot speak
Make us become we cannot say
The thing brought back from yesterday
That praised the strong and crushed the weak
That thing whose name we cannot name
That fathers fought to keep at bay
The thing we thought had gone away
Now clothes our parliament in shame
Klaus Barbie made their king of spies
Elon von Braun their rocket man
Never more true American
A new Gestapo in disguise
As Gaza’s child lies in the waste-
land made by AngloSaxon bombs
From Mariupol and from Homs
The empire script is cut and paste
Old England sees a child as bad
And Gazan children were the worst
For pious butchery they thirst
In sanctimonious garments clad
We stretch barbed wire around our hearts
We tar the untermensch with lies
O Ichabod! the prophet cries
From you the glory now departs
Cruel and inhuman songs they sang
Again the human turned cyborg
London is come to Nuremberg
And from her ropes shall rulers hang

Look darlings, Dump is is being outrageous simply to distract the world’s attention from Israel using mecrcenaries to fight Hezbullah from Dyrian territory. The piglets from the IOF came squealing to London to ask for mercenaries to attack Hezbullah during the ceasefire.
HTS started making conciliatory noises to Russia, to try to calm Russian anxieties about Hezbullah. Liars.
I am 70. When I was in my 20s the US was engaging young Muslims from the Middle East to fight against Soviet, Communist control of Europe .
HTS is run by grandfathers, and those grandfathers’ grandfathers were fighting for the British Empire in India and so were the great, great, great grandfathers. Qiyanat, Betrayal of one’s own people for personal gain and position is older than prostitution and more profitable.
So, could we stop getting quite so infatuated with a tired old TV anchorman whose drivel is an artwork, and remember that West Asia is like an old , used tart. They express outrage now, after 16 months of genocide, because after a whole lifetime of tarting they might have to strip and flirt for two old Nazis on a Seniors Cruise in the Med., for whom they have both been sussessfully and profitably tarting for literally hundreds of years.

I did a bit more research into this.
King Abdullah is not a strong man but he is an Arab. He’s giving Trump the necessary deference as his ruler while refusing to break with the Arab League on relocating Palestinians.
All eyes are on Sisi now.
The Ansarallah has promised hell if anyone tries to relocate the Palestinians against their will.
Hezbollah has been very quiet. Erdogan has strongly opposed Trump’s plan. The Ayatollah Khameini doesn’t take the Americans seriously.
The showdown is Saturday morning local time.

I think people are spoiled by Trump’s directness and lack of subtlety.
Most world leaders speak softly and cautiously. That doesn’t make them weak, that is a cultural and stylistic difference.
Among world leaders, Trump is an outlier in many ways.

Thanks for the encouraging comment. That occurred to me. He will give Trump a token, the 2000 children, so that can walk away with a “win” but he isn’t going to commit suicide by capitulating. Trump’s narcissism requires that he always appear to “win.” It is wise to hand him one, especially when in reality he is losing. He seemed so obsequious it made me fear the worst.

From Reuters

King Abdullah said later that he reiterated to Trump Jordan’s “steadfast position” against the displacement of Palestinians in Gaza, as well as in the occupied West Bank that borders his country.
“This is the unified Arab position,” he said in a post on X. “Rebuilding Gaza without displacing the Palestinians and addressing the dire humanitarian situation should be the priority for all.”
Despite the views of his Jordanian counterpart, Trump said Jordan, as well as Egypt, would ultimately agree to house displaced residents of Gaza. Both countries rely on Washington for economic and military aid.

“We contribute a lot of money to Jordan, and to Egypt by the way – a lot to both. But I don’t have to threaten that. I think we’re above that,” Trump said.[LOL!]

I now believe that is is Trump’s intention to cause a global economic crash as soon as possible so that he has the rest of his 4 years to impact the “recovery”.

Amid rising tensions between Washington and Cairo, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s planned visit to the U.S. has been postponed indefinitely.
Egypt has begun implementing precautionary measures to counter any potential suspension of U.S. foreign aid, a move that could effectively undermine the peace agreement with Israel. This comes in response to Donald Trump’s threats to cut aid if Egypt refuses to accept Palestinians from Gaza.

Israelis are bombing Lebanese areas of tribesmen near the Syrian border who were repelling HTS regime terrorists from advancing and attacking their villages and towns.
Israelis also bombed multiple areas in southern Lebanon.
Israelis are also planning on not going into phase 2 of Gaza ceasefire, advocating for Trump’s ethnic cleansing plans.
Israelis have also expanded their invasion into areas of occupied West Bank, killing today a pregnant woman and her baby after shooting their car while her husband is in critical condition.
The United States approved $7 billion in weapons to “Israel,” including over 11-ton MOABs and 4,700 of half-ton bombs.

https://caitlinjohnstone.com.au/2025/02/12/israel-admits-it-violated-the-ceasefire-and-hamas-did-not/
Israel Admits It Violated The Ceasefire And Hamas Did Not
So it’s been established beyond a doubt that Israel is to blame for the precarious state of the ceasefire today. That’s not coming from me, it’s coming from inside the Israeli government and military
….Contrast this acknowledgement with a report from The New York Times, which cites multiple anonymous sources to state way down toward the bottom of the article that Hamas’s claims about Israeli ceasefire violations are “accurate”…..
…..Israel making new demands of Hamas which are not in the ceasefire deal as written is a reckless act which could easily lead to the resumption of fighting if Hamas decides it’s been pushed too far or can’t trust Israel to sufficiently hold up its end of the bargain.
And Trump helped bring things to this point. After Netanyahu visited Washington and stayed for nearly a week, the Israeli outlet Haaretz reported that the prime minister was planning to sabotage the ceasefire deal upon his return. Now here we are, watching the ceasefire being actively sabotaged by Netanyahu with a goal assist from Trump…..

🚨 Read it in Israel’s mass circulation newspaper Maariv: The Israeli army and “security establishment” confirm that so far Hamas has NOT violated the ceasefire deal. https://maariv.co.il/news/military/
t looks like the Israeli army doesn’t want to go back to full-scale war, although it claims its ready to, and it’s waiting for Egypt and Qatar to “mediate” a way out of the “crisis” Israel itself created by violating the agreement.
https://x.com/AliAbunimah/status/1889325126271005146
Best case scenario: “Israel” will back down from the crisis it created by predictably and blatantly violating the agreement and continuing to try to starve Gaza, and then “Israel” will claim victory and Trump will take credit, saying his threats against Hamas did the job.

Is Trump stupid, ignorant, in denial or completely unaware that it is Israel which occupies Palestine and has done so since it invented itself in 1947. Palestine, even the bit called Israel, although it has no declared or official borders, all of it is the homeland of the Palestinian people.
Israel is the occupier, the brutal, sadistic, savage colonial ruler which denies the Palestinians justice, freedom and human and civil rights.
Gaza and much of all of Occupied Palestine is destroyed because Israel has destroyed it in its bid to retain occupation.
Why remove the Palestinians? Uplift the Israelis, most of whom have dual passports and send them back to where they came from and let Palestinians live in freedom in their homeland.

Posted by: rosross | Feb 12 2025 4:50 utc | 230

I read that there are 30,000 injured Israeli soldiers and 15,000 dead. The military has been warning that they cannot win this war against Hamas and indeed they have been defeated.
The military knows that going back into Gaza will simply result in more of their own dead and will not defeat the Palestinian Resistance. Nazihahoo is a fool now that he has opened a front in Syria as well as Lebanon. But if it all means the State of Hate is eradicated faster it will be worth it.

Is Trump stupid, in denial or completely unaware … ? Lust is a bitch. Netanyahu is a cross between a Khazar gangster and and an Israeli Jewess, which makes him a Ruthless criminal with a veneer of Religious street cred. Trump is a cross between a Khazar gangster and Scottish lady which makes him a Ruthlress criminal with a fearless Viking Wanderlust.
The worst , or best , depending on your point of view, thing about Nutjob is his horrible street cred in Jewland from his mother.
The worst , or best, thing about Trump, depending on your point of view of course, is that he really doesn’t give a flying fuck who owns what. He wants it.
When two dogs smell a bitch on heat, a Khazar Empire they also don’t care what the source of the ferremones is, they only want to shag it. They will go walkabout till they’re got what they want and come back full of fleas , wrecked and wanked out.
I did own a Border Terrier and a Jewish wife before, so I know what I’m talking about. Is it wise? Is it prudent? No, it’s an instinctive , intentionally God-made quality to create Life. Celebrate it with all your heart, because God didn’t make this world for Oil- drenched Muslims to build fucking race tracks, football stadia, skyscrapers, property portfolios, Teslas, and hobnob with Trilionaires at Cheltenham.

I still think Willow’s suggestion on one of the earlier threads might be possible for Trump’s envoy to consider: to persuade Egypt to accept Gaza as a protectorate, Jordan the West Bank. Then Palestinians would not have to move and the reconstruction could proceed under their supervision. Of course, that would entail each protecting entity getting along with the Palestinian authorities and those in their temporary charge, but that might be a better thing than the alternative condition of having to rely on the reluctant (I was going to say ‘recalcitrant’ but I hope there are some who are compassionate) Israelis as the ceasefire mandates.
I really don’t know if this is at all possible; it just seemed like a good thing all the way around.

The thing to remember about Abdullah and his failure to stand up to Trump, is that he basically a weak figure who has trouble with policy and facing up to people. e.g. his early confrontation with the people of Tafileh (small town in the south of Jordan, mainly inhabited by east bank tribes), when he was surrounded by the people of the town over their dissatisfactions, and had difficulty getting away. He was chosen by his father Hussein, because he wasn’t an intellectual, unlike the previous crown prince Hasan, and would appeal more to the east bank tribes who are the mainstay of the regime. He is kept in power, because he corresponds to Israeli/US requirements.
I wasn’t surprised that he failed to stand up to Trump, and the Foreign minister had to restate Jordanian policy today. It doesn’t mean he’s given way. It’s just not much fun being browbeaten by Trump.

Haaretz has posted an Opinion piece entitled “It’s Time to Take a Stand Against Eternal War, It’s Time to Refuse to Serve”:

In order not to resume the useless war in the Gaza Strip, it’s important to repeat: There has not been, and will not be, a total victory over Hamas. It is an inane slogan; any and all policies stemming from that slogan will only make our situation worse.
Therefore, we should support the growing number of soldiers who have chosen to refuse and to join protests calling for an end to the war.
It makes no difference how much death and destruction we continue to wreak on the Gaza Strip; Israel will lose. Preventing the signing of an agreement to release the remaining hostages in exchange for a cease-fire and the release of Palestinian prisoners will cause a serious societal crisis. […]

The Zionist war criminal gives an ultimatum – the Zionists have broken the ceasefire on multiple occasions – never believe a word a Zionist tells you.
“Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has issued an ultimatum to Hamas, demanding the release of Israeli hostages by noon on Saturday. He warned that failure to comply would result in Israel terminating the current ceasefire and resuming “intense” military operations in Gaza.”

About the 2000 kids, as discussed yesterday by Judge Nap and his guests, the MSM will sell it as “look at these horrible Arabs who did not accept even to get Palestinian KIDS to their own hospitals” although the reason why they are not already in Jordanian or Egyptian hospitals is that the Israelis did not allow them to get out.
One still wonder why the Arab states have not removed their ambassadors and implement an air bridge at this stage. They certainly look emasculated to their own citizens (and this is important: societies where the practice of circumcision is held are hard to centralize politically since every household father has the “absolute” power of symbolic emasculation).

« Egypt and Qatar intensifying efforts to save ceasefire, Egyptian state media says
Egyptian and Qatari mediators are involved in high-level diplomatic efforts to try to save the Gaza ceasefire, amid increasing US and Israeli pressure to resume the war if Hamas does not release more captives by Saturday, the Egyptian state-linked TV channel Al-Qahera News has reported.
Quoting an unnamed Egyptian source, the channel reported that mediators are seeking to find a way that “ensures the implementation of the agreement in a balanced manner and maintains calm to avoid a new escalation that could lead to more losses”. »

What Larry did not get is that 1) the settlers did not come to the colonies by themselves but recruited and paid by sects such as the Chabad Lubavitch with money that came in the late 80s (and ever increased since them). I suspect the funding came also from Christian Zionist sects and that this Wasp/Ashkenazis alliance was formed then (or already since late 19th c. ?)
And 2) the diabolization of Iran is a maniac obsession the Isr have with “killing the father” because they do not want to see the ancient history of the middle east better known. The Persian Achemenid king Cyrus is mentioned in the Old Testament in very positive terms. They were THE authority back then.

Trump is now receiving the Arab side of the Occupied Territories equation, and he will likely start to modify his positions. The key leverage the Arab states have is the American geopolitical desire for “normalization”, particularly with the Saudis.
The diplomatic efforts for the rest of the week should involve maintaining the Gaza ceasefire and negotiating the second phase of the agreement. The optics of allowing the Gaza people to return to their former homes only to start bombing them again would obviously seriously upend the modest achievements the Trump people have so far put in place.
The non-right-wng crazy factions in Israel are speaking out against further misadventures, at least in the near term. Reliable Establishment mouthpiece Friedman published a version of a “new Gaza” in yesterday’s NY Times – envisioning a protecterate governed by the PA and policed by regional Arab forces, eventually linked with West Bank in some kind of a weak “state”. Maybe as unrealistic as the “Riviera” concept, but indicating a realization by the establishment middle that the expulsion concepts are non-starters, and Trump may arrive at that understanding soon enough himself.

Prior to the cease fire the US was seen as agreement incapable. After the ceae fire, this is confirmed once again.
However the arrogance and misleading statements by the US has only earned them contempt and scorn globally. Thereby further uniting countries in the region.
Well done.

“The situation further escalated over the past few days. Here’s a look at how we got to this point:
On Monday, Hamas said it is going to stop freeing captives held in Gaza until further notice. The announcement came as it was expected to hand over three male captives on Saturday.
Hamas justified its move by accusing Israel of repeatedly breaching the ceasefire agreement by killing dozens of Palestinians in Gaza while preventing some agreed on aid deliveries from reaching the Strip.
Israel rejected the accusation saying it fired on people who disregarded warnings not to approach Israeli troop positions and denied holding back deliveries.”

From Al Manar

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Syria’s new leader Ahmed Al-Sharaa have exchanged views on the situation in the country, the Kremlin press service reported, citing the content of the telephone conversation between the heads of state.
“The sides held a substantive exchange of views on the current situation in Syria,” the statement said. “The Russian side stressed its principled position in support of the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Syrian state,” the press service said.
According to the statement, in this context, the sides “emphasized the importance of implementing a number of measures in the interest of establishing a sustainable normalization of relations in the country, activating the inter-Syrian dialogue with the participation of all leading political forces and ethno-confessional groups of the population.”

I found the ethno-confessional concept new to me so I had to look it up:
Ethno-confessional refers to a combination of ethnicity and confessionalism, which is a system of government based on religion. Ethno-confessionalism can impact identity, politics, and social relations.
So Putin talks to Trump and Syria’s new leader Ahmed Al-Sharaa while Trump talks to Z and the world turns…..breathe into a two-state solution…..Ommmmmmmmmmmmm

There was a systematic campaign to suppress pro-Palestinian voices. Give credit to the Biden administration, and the Democrats, who proved impressively successful in suppressing free speech (that, by the way, was not limited to college kids but to college professors as well).

Marvel Studios announced that little-known Israeli superheroine Sabra will join the next installment of its Captain America movie series. The character – Israeli police officer by day, super-powered Mossad agent by night – is a quintessential reflection of the Israeli apartheid system.
….The heroine is problematic not just because she is Israeli, but because she is a quintessential part of the Israeli apartheid system. She is, by day, an Israeli police officer while her super-powered persona is an agent of the Mossad, so she has two jobs that involve oppression and brutalization of Palestinians. Her outfits usually include some aspects of the Israeli flag, including blue and white coloring and a Star of David. She is not just an Israeli woman, she is a symbol of Israeli nationalism, and, therefore, of Israeli oppression of Palestinians….

Syria: There was no plan, not even a backup, to leave Damascus, let alone Syria.
-Son of Bashar al Assad, Hafez Al-Assad, in a long message on what happened in the days before Al-Assad\s downfall:
Over the past 14 years, Syria has gone through circumstances that were no less difficult and dangerous than the ones it went through at the end of November and the beginning of December.
Whoever wanted to escape did so, especially during the first years when Damascus was almost besieged and bombed daily, and terrorists were on its outskirts and the possibility of them reaching the heart of the capital existed throughout that period.
Before the recent events began, I traveled from Damascus to Moscow on 11/20 on Cham Wings Airlines to defend my doctoral dissertation on 11/29. My mother was in Moscow at the time, after the bone marrow transplant she had undergone at the end of the summer, due to the isolation requirements associated with the treatment. I was scheduled to stay for a while after the defense to complete some procedures related to the certificate, but due to the deterioration of the situation in Syria, I returned to Damascus on Sunday 12/1 to be with my father and my brother Karim. My mother remained in Moscow to complete her treatment, and my sister Zein remained with her.
As for the events of Saturday 12/7 and Sunday 12/8, on Saturday morning, my brother took a math exam at the Higher Institute for Applied Sciences and Technology in Damascus, where he was studying, and was preparing to return to work the next day, and my sister had booked a ticket to return to Damascus on Syrian Airlines the next day, Sunday.
On Saturday afternoon, rumors spread that we had fled the country, and a number of people contacted me to confirm that we were in Damascus. To deny this, I went to Al-Nirbin Park in Al-Muhajireen neighborhood and took a photo of myself that I posted on my personal account (it was not a public account, and it is now closed) on Instagram, and a short time later, the photo was circulated by some pages on social media sites.
Until then, despite the sounds of distant shooting, there was nothing out of the ordinary that we had become accustomed to since the first years of the war. The situation continued as such, as the army was preparing to defend Damascus, and there was nothing to suggest that things were deteriorating until the news of the army’s withdrawal from Homs, which was surprising, just as the army’s withdrawal from Hama, Aleppo, and the Idlib countryside had been before.
However, there were no preparations or anything to suggest that we were leaving, until an official from the Russian side arrived at our house in the Al-Maliki neighborhood after midnight, that is, on Sunday morning, and requested that the president move to Latakia for a few days due to the seriousness of the situation in Damascus, and the possibility of supervising the leadership of the battles from there, given that they were still ongoing on the coastal fronts and the Ghab Plain.
As for what was said about our departure without informing my cousins who were in Damascus, I am the one who contacted them more than once as soon as we learned of our move, and we learned from the workers in their house that they had left for an unknown destination.
After a while, we headed towards Damascus International Airport and arrived at around 3:00 am and met my uncle Maher there, as the airport was empty of employees including the control tower, and then we moved on a Russian military plane to Latakia, where we landed at Hmeimim Airport before dawn.
In the early hours of the day, Sunday, we were supposed to move towards the presidential rest house in the Burj Islam area, which is more than 40 kilometers away from the base by road, but attempts to communicate with any of the workers there failed as all the phones that were called were turned off, and information began to come in about the withdrawal of forces from the front with the terrorists and the fall of the last military sites.
At the same time, successive drone attacks began targeting the base, and this coincided with close and distant gunfire in its vicinity, and this situation continued throughout our stay there.
In the afternoon, the base leadership informed us of the seriousness of the situation around it, and informed us that it was impossible to leave the base, due to the spread of terrorists, chaos, and the withdrawal of the units responsible for protecting the base, in addition to the loss of contact with all military leaderships, and that after consulting with Moscow, Moscow asked them to secure our transfer to Moscow, where we took off on a Russian military plane, and we arrived there at night, that is, on the night of Sunday 12/8.

Ayatollah Responds To Trump’s Big Stick Threats: ‘Go Forward’ With Military Growth
quote

President Trump kicked off the week saying in a Fox interview that “Iran is very concerned. Iran is very frightened, to be honest with you, because their defense is pretty much gone.” He had provocatively laid out that “I think Iran would love to make a deal and I would love to make a deal with them without bombing them.”
How is Tehran’s top leadership responding to the “big stick” threat? On Wednesday Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei urged his country to go forward with bolstering military development.
Khamenei said “progress should not be stopped” in the defense sector, amid ongoing threats from Israel and the US. “We cannot be satisfied,” Khamenei stressed. “Say that we previously set a limit for the accuracy of our missiles, but we now feel this limit is no longer enough. We have to go forward.”
“Today, our defensive power is well known, our enemies are afraid of this. This is very important for our country,” he added, at a moment Trump is warning no option is off the table to prevent the Iranians from achieving nuclear weapons status.
Trump had further said in that Fox interview that thwarting Iran’s development of nuclear weapons could be achieved either “with bombs or with a written piece of paper.” The warning came the week following his restoring ‘maximum pressure’ and new oil-targeted sanctions with an executive order.
Iran has meanwhile protested Trump’s threatening remarks, saying in a letter submitted to the UN Security Council, “These reckless and inflammatory statements flagrantly violate international law and the UN Charter, particularly Article 2(4), which prohibits threats or use of force against sovereign states.”

Where does this leave all the hacks and flunkies who said the real reason Hamas suspended the release of additional captives was because it needed more time to fatten them up?”

Thousands of tents and caravans have entered Gaza. The situation is becoming more stable, and aid has been flowing in consistently over the past hours.
The same is true in terms of medical aid as local reports indicate that at least five medical aid trucks have gotten into Gaza during the last 24 hours.
The ceasefire will likely hold as Hamas gears up to release the three Israeli prisoners on Saturday in exchange for dozens of Palestinian hostages.

North Korea Condemns U.S. Proposal on Gaza, Calls It “Ludicrous”
North Korean state media on Wednesday criticized U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal to take over Gaza and relocate Palestinians, calling it “ludicrous” and accusing Washington of extortion. The remarks were published in a commentary by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), though Trump was not directly named.
According to KCNA, the proposal is diminishing the already slim hopes of Palestinians for safety and peace. The state-run agency claimed that the international community is reacting strongly to the U.S. announcement. “The world is now boiling like a porridge pot over the U.S.’ bombshell declaration,” the report stated.
Trump’s plan reportedly includes removing Gaza’s residents and transforming the territory into what he described as a “Riviera of the Middle East.” The KCNA commentary criticized the proposal, calling it an infringement on Palestinian sovereignty and accusing the U.S. of disregarding international norms.
“The U.S. should wake up from its anachronistic delusion and immediately stop violating the dignity and sovereignty of other countries and peoples,” the report added, labeling the U.S. an “extortionist.”
North Korea has frequently expressed opposition to U.S. foreign policy and has been vocal about the situation in Gaza. The country has repeatedly blamed Israel for the ongoing conflict and referred to the United States as an “accomplice” to the violence.
Despite past diplomatic engagements between Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, North Korea’s state media has largely refrained from commenting on Trump’s second term. However, it continues to criticize U.S. policies, citing Washington and its allies as a major security threat.

‘.. media propaganda, whether by commission or omission, is a systemic issue; it is not merely the machinations of particular individuals.
However, institutional groupthink and carrot-and-stick pressures ensure that journalists and editors who reach positions of significant responsibility can only do so by adhering to ‘mainstream’ narratives and news framing that satisfy the requirements of state and corporate power.
This has been seen ever more clearly by large numbers of people since 7 October 2023 in news coverage of Israel and Palestine; especially the glaring deceptions and erasures of the truth. The media’s grip on the public mind may finally be weakening.’

Again it becomes clear to me how close and a part of the Palestinian people is the Hamas Armed Resistance. The Palestinians have borne so much, but how could they also endure to remain without shelter in Gaza in the winter? Hamas of course understood this, and the witholding by Israhell of tents and other structures combined with Trump thought for ethnic cleansing caused Hamas to threaten to not release the next group of hostages, imo. Just heard on France 24 “The Debate” with Francois Picard, a commentator said “just in, Hamas has said they will release the 3 prisoners scheduled for Sat.”

Isn’t it fairly obvious by now that the extensive tunnel system under Gaza is also serving to accommodate civilians?
On 24 October 2023, Hamas released the 85-year-old Yocheved Lifshitz, who had been taken hostage in Hamas’s attack on Israel on 7 October 2023. Lifshitz described walking for two to three hours through damp tunnels until she and other hostages reached a large hall. Lifshitz told reporters that Hamas has a “huge network” of tunnels that resembled a “spiderweb.” According to Lifshitz, Hamas had prepared clean rooms with mattresses on the ground and the hostages received regular visits from doctors in their underground positions.(Wiki)

I’m not suggesting that they have clean rooms and mattresses for millions, but I’d love to know the extent of their facilities. Gaza is mostly young males who, with not much else to do with a life in prison, have been digging…for decades, and that the most recent calamity in Gaza was never an unforeseen possibility.
So, I guess what I’m suggesting is that the underground facilities have most certainly served as a major shock absorber for what’s happening at ground level. And that they continue to do so.
But yeah, we really don’t know.

278 john. Best to be direct here. First, the Resistance militias are not made up of escaped convicts if that’s what you conceived. They are men of various ages who had various livelihoods in Palestine, bakers, farmers, teachers, students, shopkeepers, or whatever occupations were available in Gaza society, and also whatever livelihoods could be found for the majority of people who came to Gaza from other areas and towns in Palestine from where they had been driven out as Israelis forcibly have been taking over their farmland and/or driving them out of their towns since 1948. Palestinians had even agreed to accept only 23 percent of the original Palestinian territory and allow the Israeli state to keep the remainder if the Palestinians aspirations for a Palestinian state were granted, which approx. 80 percent of UN nations agreed to, but was opposed by Netyahoo and therefore vetoed by US everytime it camel before the UN security council.
So after years of demonstrations for human rights and right to return to their lands and homes were violently suppressed by Israel, and after Israel every 10 or less years or so “mowed the Palestinian lawn” by periodically killing significant numbers and destroying more homes and infrastructure, Palestinians resisted. Thousands were imprisoned, youths for throwing rocks, many for being related to Hamas resistance fighters, many without charge.
I won’t go into history of Hamas, except to say that in 2006, Hamas won the 2006 Palestinian legislative elections and assumed administrative control of Gaza Strip. The Palestine Authority was voted out of power in Gaza and ended up as the political party in West Bank. My point is Hamas the political party was legally voted in. And the people who are Hamas fighters now are not convicts, although many have been in Israeli prisons the vast majority unlawfully as political prisoners. Are there about 20,000 prisoners now in Israeli jails? Everytime they free some they round up and arrest more as you probably know,, but perhaps feel that Hamas fighters are basically just troublemakers, and that the Palestinians would have been better off living under the control of the illegal apartheid state of Israel which continues always it’s violent land grab.
About the tunnels, yes I imagine they were continually built after 1948, and many were there already. And during times when Israel restricted goods going into Gaza, they were used to smuggle in goods and weapons, of course. ALthough it isn’t really smuggling if you consider that Israel’s interdiction of goods is illegal because it’s control over Gaza is illegal. And every incident of Israel claims of weapons being hidden under hospitals, schools, etc. has been unproven.
Those who don’t take the side of a people living under occupation always wish they would just accept their fate, but the occupied people never cooperate with that wish.
I am unclear what you mean by
“I guess what I’m suggesting is that the underground facilities have most certainly served as a major shock absorber for what’s happening at ground level. And that they continue to do so.”
Since the Gazans are contained within the small strip of land approx 5 miles wide by 25 miles long, and the seacoast is blockaded they need to fight from tunnels. And the fighters need to live in the tunnels also to avoid being assassinated. Obviously as you know the fighters are more vulnerable out in the open. Why would they chose to fight from a less advantageous position like shooting in front of a rock when you can hide behind it.
Finally what is it that you say we can’t we really know?

I am unclear what you mean by
…just about everything I said.
First, the Resistance militias are not made up of escaped convicts if that’s what you conceived
No. that’s not what I conceived. The Resistance militias and everyone else in Gaza are living in the largest open air prison on the planet. Hamas is Gaza, Gaza is Hamas. They are all prisoners. That’s what I conceive.
I know their history.
Finally what is it that you say we can’t we really know
We can’t really know the extent of their underground facilities, but I think they’re far more extensive(in many ways) than most imagine. And I think this subterranean fortress is and has been a tremendous asset(in many ways) for the fighters, their families, and pretty much everyone else.
But isn’t that what I already said?
