I just don’t feel joy that some brainwashed pawns of a corrupt oligarchy got maimed. Especially when they are conscripts who are too young to have finished brain development.

Donald Trump stated that his Gaza plan “has been very well received”.
Hamas today demonstrated its response, and here is
A statement issued by Hezbollah:
Hezbollah condemns the deviant call launched by US President Donald Trump to displace our people in the Gaza Strip outside Palestine, and stresses that it is nothing but a clear expression and translation of the racist, exclusionary, fascist ideology that threatens all of humanity at the core of its values, most notably the right of peoples to their homelands and lands. This self-evident right, which has been recognized by all charters and norms, is a right that cannot be taken away, encroached upon, or relinquished by force or coercion in any way.
This arrogance coupled with megalomania has made Trump and his administration think that the dark path of establishing his state, based on the systematic extermination of the indigenous people of the continent and replacing them with settlers, can be re-exported in this era by uprooting the Palestinian people of the land and granting it to the Zionists, after the American war machine failed to do so. Zionism is supported by the Western system, which failed to break the will and determination of the Palestinian people in an epic that is unparalleled in the modern era, where the resistance in Gaza and its people made legendary sacrifices and proved through them that they are resistant to all uprooting and displacement projects.
Hezbollah stresses that what the enemy did not take in war, it will not take in peace, and under malicious, foolish slogans, it wants to fool the peoples of the world by claiming its keenness for the people of Gaza to enjoy a better life outside of it. Hezbollah believes that this dangerous project, which is contrary to logic and nature, is as much condemned and rejected as it indicates the nature and extent of the conspiracy against the Palestinian people at this stage. Hezbollah
believes with absolute faith that whoever thwarted the war of extermination will thwart the racist war of uprooting, and Trump and those with him will realize that this holy land cannot be subject to the dictates of American madness, and that all the loyalists in our Arab and Islamic world and in the entire world will stand as one to raise their voices and thwart the despicable conspiracy, and will not allow under any circumstances for the fate of the Palestinian people to become at the mercy of the Zionist-American obsession in seizing the country, enslaving the peoples and determining their fate…
Hezbollah calls on the Arab and Islamic countries to take practical positions to confront this occupation project, otherwise what awaits their countries if this step succeeds is a black fate that will leave nothing behind, neither independence, nor wealth, nor peoples. He warns against any complacency in the confrontation, which will pave the way for an organized expulsion of all the people of the West Bank and later all the Palestinian people in the occupied (48) territories, and the realization of the biblical dream and the Zionist-American dreams of seizing all of Palestine and making it entirely Jewish.
Hezbollah confirms that this new attack on Palestine and its people will be doomed to complete failure, and the Palestinian people, along with all the honorable people, will prove that they will remain in their land, and that Trump and all his tyranny and conspiracy will not bring down the Palestinian will, but rather his project will fall, and Gaza will remain for its people and Palestine for its people, and this people will remain the title of Palestine, pride and strength, and preservation of the land, and a role model for all the peoples of the world in the struggle for the right and the sanctities.

If your brain is “developed” enough to laugh while driving over a Palestinian toddler with a tank it’s developed enough to hang for the crime.
F*ck their brain development – they’ll be just as murderous at 80 as they are at 18.
The world has no time to wait for them to reach some hypothetical state of maturity at the expense of innocent lives.

An important warning from Dr. Abdullah Ma’ruf about Israel’s proposed law to annex the West Bank and its implications for Palestinian sovereignty and international law.
Excerpts:
The Israeli Knesset recently passed, in its preliminary reading, a bill that allows Israelis to own land in the West Bank without the need for army approval…this bill, which still requires three more stages of approval, is one of the most dangerous pieces of legislation being passed by the Israeli government through its settler movement arm, led by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and his Religious Zionism Party.
The urgent task is to preemptively address the anticipated annexation through real, deterrent political actions, going beyond mere condemnation and refusal. There needs to be actual solidarity with the peoples of the region and a change in the way the Palestinian issue is approached by the entire Arab establishment. It is no longer a secret that the Israeli project not only seeks to swallow up Palestinian land but now also sees itself entitled to expand at everyone else’s expense.
The danger of this law lies in the fact that Israel is no longer concerned with international law or its image before the world. This represents a shift in Israel’s strategy in dealing with international institutions. It’s part of a broader approach taken by the Israeli government during the Gaza war, such as its decision to stop recognizing the UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency).
Israel now positions itself as a “muscle” state, not one bound by the rule of law, and no longer cares about its image globally. This means that it can do whatever it wants, ignoring international law, as it seems safe from accountability under the new Trump administration, allied with the religious Zionist movement.
In truth, the first to suffer from this process will be Jordan, which will find itself facing an unprecedented storm that could destabilize it entirely.
Palestinians, the Arab countries, particularly those surrounding Palestine, and official Arab and Islamic regimes, especially Jordan, must be alert to the dangers of this frantic movement. The Israeli far-right is not just another party in the Knesset; it is now the actual Israeli state. Its aspirations and proposals are no longer limited to itself, as it now enjoys the support of a real ally who shares its ideological stance: the new US administration.
It is impossible to ignore the nature of this new administration or treat the Israeli-American right-wing ambitions as mere dreams that can be blocked by international law. The Trump administration does not respect international law.

The border breach came amid internecine fighting this week along the border, which Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA) reported as involving “artillery shelling and heavy machine gun fire on the town of Jarmash on the city of Hermel’s northern border with Syria.”

Netanyahu’s latest – make a Palestinian State in Saudi Arabia.
Glad he is acknowledging the Palestinians.
But “what’s is good for the goose is good for the gander”.
If he says that moving a People is a viable option then move the Zio-settlers.
The Zios cause far, far, far more problems for far, far more countries than the Palestinians do.

Just curious if anyone has looked into the differences between the brains of someone who looks for anything they can to support the notion that they are somehow demonstrably superior to others and someone like me who, while quite conscious of the fact we all have different intelligence levels and personal abilities, we are all equal in the sense that until we demonstrate either a socially problematic behavior or become a parasitic drain on our social group, we are theoretically equal at least socially.
That said, some of us certainly bring more to the table or social potlatch if you will.
Perhaps the article you presented is factually correct, if so
Then if it turns out you personally have the social and mental markers of being a narcissist person which a massive inferiority complex, which is almost invariably a patently bad member of society who puts their own needs and wants above those

Wouldn’t we better off without your type in better than current society as well?
Personally I wouldn’t want to live within 20 miles of you and I’m pretty white, and don’t really trust full on Muslims either but your type u
Is another one that I will chuck in the basket with those that think they are better than others for many various reasons, some bsed on facts for sure. It’s just that I don’t subscribe the idea of disregarding someone’s value based on their genetic background
Case in point, there are some traditional jews that don’t subscribe to the zioniat view point and disavow they behaviour of their genetic equals.
Hope you bring a lot to the table beyond the idea that your somehow batter than a good chunk of humanity due to your skin colour or genetic ancestry.
One last thing, I think dogs are generally regarded as less intelligent than humans pretty tough to argue that one, however they also tend to be much better companions and friends than any human due to their simplistic nature, when raised and treated right they will be your loyal friend for life, I somehow suspect your a bit more self serving than the average mutt.
Ok the other hand, how do I know that one day someone like you won’t decide I have a little too much neuro allele left in my genes and you decide to take me out.
That’s why I choose my friends carefully, based on behavior and ethical code. Not skin colour or genetic makeup.
I know some white folks I would love to see rot in a shallow grave, and many other colours would be thrown in the same hole
Conversly, i will break break with anyone who doesnt strike me as dangerous or narcissistic.
In case you didn’t pick it up,
I think the average mutt raised right is more trustworthy and worth feeding than one of your ilk.

Why don’t you ask all those barflies who are saying that Putin supports Netanyahu to show Their evidence.
It is the Ukrainian Nazi Revisionist Zionists, otherwise known as Neocons who have cost Russia so much blood and treasure in Ukraine. Netanyahu’s father was private secretary to Jabotinsky.
A fact often repeated by Thierry Myessan on Voltairenet and still unacknowledged by karlov1. The Soviet Union was first to recognise Israel, in response to the crimes of Nazism in WW2.
What you’re saying is that Putin approves of the Right-wing swerve of USUKIS to Nazism everywhere, including Israel.

Any nation that spends too much time under the Western colonial boot becomes a degraded version of itself until it heals from the scars.

The Black nation bears the deepest scars, the worst injustice and has suffered the the most brutal suppression ever visited by one human civilization upon another.

Not even the evil visited by the (European) Zionists upon Palestinians matches it.

For only the White Man thought it wise to spend two hundred years selectively breeding a slave nation, even using his own white women for the purpose, in order to create a superior physical specimen for the purpose of labour.

I will leave you with this:
I once took a job more than a decade ago at one of your American FAANGs where I joined a somewhat elite team of systems engineers tasked with maintaining globally distributed cloud infrastructure. Imagine my surprise when I found my new manager to be a young black Tanzanian gentleman and my colleagues mostly Dutchmen.
Our manager was technical lead, coach and trainer, crisis lead. He solved hard technical problems in minutes which my Dutch team-mates took days to puzzle out. He could write out diagnostic C and Java code to solve technical issues during system outages. He could troubleshoot system issues down to kernel level. He produced data analytics which drove upper management decisions around globally distributed systems. He produced patents at a rate of around 2 per year.
It was pleasant watching my white colleagues (who I knew were a bunch of racist fuckknuckles) having to revise entire lifetimes of racist conditioning and re-examine their notions of racial superiority. They chafed under a superior intellect, a better work ethic and superior technical skills embodied within a black man.
Since then I’ve seen many examples of this in the western world – in the most technical of fields.

Not every black face in your high tech industries is a DEI hire, and those black faces that aren’t debunk your theory of racial superiority every time they appear.

Ultimately the facts don’t bear you out. If you don’t stand on ground reality then what do you stand on?

With the dropping of those U$$A supplied 2,000 pound bombs on the defenseless civilians in Gaza…each bomb’s murderous destruction results in another TWO MILLION additional individuals across the world hating America and perhaps another 20,000 Americans coming to the realization that Trump is just another Zionist $tooge.
Recent polling figures amongst Gen Z Jewish young Americans reveals that at least half of them have become pro-Palestinian.
Once Nuts n’ Yahoos begins to resume his genocidal assaults on the civilian population of Gaza; those younger American Jews will axiomatically become majority anti-Zionists.

It’s later social programming that leads people from those paths.
I am not surprised to see young Jews rejecting Zionism.

Those 2000 lb bunker-busting bombs we (the US) sends to Israel create a lethal gas that asphyxiates people exposed to it. Dropped anywhere near a tunnel and the gas spreads out, killing everyone in the tunnel for hundreds of meters past the explosion point. The IDF discovered this by chance in 2017 and so began using as a method of military bombardment against the Palestinians. Since 7 Oct ’23, they have also killed their own soldiers this way as they used the bombs to blow up buildings and send the gas to the tunnels where Israelis were being held. They even used the bombs when they had intelligence that their own soldiers were in the area being bombed.
This sort of gassing is of course illegal according to international law, but that has never impeded the insane zest that Israel has for killing. These bombs also kill aboveground in a huge area, killing scores or even hundreds of civilians, which Isreal thinks of as a bonus. Also, of course, illegal.
Long article, but extremely informative, and harrowing. Hamas, by the way, also learned from Israel’s use of gas and made sure to install hundreds of sealed doors in the tunnels to limit the spread of the gas.
——————
The Israeli army intensively bombarded residential areas in Gaza when it lacked intelligence on the exact location of Hamas commanders hiding underground, and intentionally weaponized toxic byproducts of bombs to suffocate militants in their tunnels, an investigation by +972 Magazine and Local Call can reveal.
The investigation, based on conversations with 15 Israeli Military Intelligence and Shin Bet officers who have been involved in tunnel-targeting operations since October 7, exposes how this strategy aimed to compensate for the army’s inability to pinpoint targets in Hamas’ subterranean tunnel network. When targeting senior commanders in the group, the Israeli military authorized the killing of “triple-digit numbers” of Palestinian civilians as “collateral damage,” and maintained close real-time coordination with U.S. officials regarding the expected casualty figures.
Some of these strikes, which were the deadliest in the war and often used American bombs, are known to have killed Israeli hostages despite concerns raised ahead of time by military officers. Moreover, the lack of precise intelligence meant that in at least three major strikes, the army dropped several 2,000-pound bunker-buster bombs that killed scores of civilians — part of a strategy known as “tiling” — without succeeding in killing the intended target.
“Pinpointing a target inside a tunnel is hard, so you attack a [wide] radius,” a Military Intelligence source told +972 and Local Call. Given that the army would have only a vague approximation of the target’s location, the source explained, this radius would be as large as “tens and sometimes hundreds of meters,” meaning these bombing operations collapsed multiple apartment buildings on their occupants without warning. “Suddenly you see how someone in the IDF really behaves when given the opportunity to wipe out an entire residential block — and they do it,” the source added.
The investigation also reveals how Israel has known for years that the use of bunker-buster bombs releases the lethal gas carbon monoxide as a byproduct, which can kill people inside a tunnel through asphyxiation even at a distance of hundreds of meters from the strike location. After discovering this by chance in 2017, the army first tested it as a strategy in Gaza in 2021, and employed it in its efforts to kill Hamas commanders after October 7. This way, the army could attack targets without knowing their precise location, and without having to rely on direct hits.
“The gas stays underground, and people suffocate,” Brig. Gen. (res.) Guy Hazoot, the only source willing to be named, told +972 and Local Call. “[We realized] we could effectively target anyone underground using the Air Force’s bunker-buster bombs, which, even if they don’t destroy the tunnel, release gases that kill anyone inside. The tunnel then becomes a death trap.”[…]

“Israeli Knesset Member Itamar Ben-Givr has set up an office on land belonging to the Salem family threatened with eviction…”
All over the world people support Palestine but their leaders continue to support Israel. Genocide continues. Correction must be made by all whose state’s leadership promotes this murderous, racist and illegal abomination.
Free Palestine. Remove Israel. By any means necessary.
Perhaps it is time for all concerned to discuss an international militia or fighting group to enforce international law, end the genocide, and restore and return Palestinian rights to their land. An ‘international solidarity brigade’ such as was sent to fight the fascists in Spain.

Posted by: John Gilberts | Feb 8 2025 20:36 utc | 233

@232 Deniz
It would look that way.
Trump (given the ICC sanction) must be clearly aware that the reputation of “Israel” (and its ability to carry arms in a responsible manner) is in doubt, contested or otherwise very questionable.
Obviously, the theory behind re-arming “Israel” might be one of disuading an attack on it.
However, given that after delivery the US is not technically in a position to inhibit the misuse of those weapons (i.e. to slaughter civilians), the sale might only be seen as condonation of the approach “Israel” has taken so far.
Either Trump is not in charge of his own policy, or he wants to own the show.
Neither looks good.

There is only one race of humans ( sadly divided as they are imbeciles, over the resources they want to plunder).
This race maybe white-ish, living in the northern hemispheres without the sun, or darke-ish, living in the southern hemisphere).
The happening of melanin really. The skin adopting to the sun rays.
But the curse on the darker skinned humans may have been that the lighter skinned ones chose to pilfer their resources, as the darker-skinned ones lived above the riches of the earth.
Very simple.

Occupation or Palestinian. Both are showing prisoners in poorer form. Those kept prisoner by occupation show signs of torture also.
Those released by Hamas (three in images I saw), looked thin, but nothing more than. Remember they were being held separately (so under different conditions). I won’t make any excuse because they emerged alive in spite of all, but food shortages existed, as a starting point.
Some occupation gov. were calling for promised food deliveries during ceasefire to be reduced now, as a collective punishment.
Maybe there was a different protocol for male/female prisoners also.
For perspective, more disturbing would be one finding that his relatives had been killed when he was captured (not necessarily by Hamas either), if I remember the report correctly.

ZH has aposting up with the title
Ayatollah Shuts Door On Negotiations With US After Trump Restores ‘Maximum Pressure’
quote

Iran’s top cleric who oversees the state, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei appears to have shut the door on opening new negotiations with Washington in the wake of fresh Trump-ordered sanctions intended to disrupt Iran’s oil network and to take exports “down to zero”.
“First, negotiations with the US have no effect on solving [Iran’s] problems. The reason? Experience!” Khamenei said on Friday. He explained that during the Obama presidency, “we sat down and negotiated with the US for about two years, and an agreement was formed. In this agreement, the Iranian side was very generous and gave many concessions to the other side.”
During Trump’s first term, he unilaterally pulled the US from the ‘bad’ JCPOA nuclear deal, which happened in April 2018 – after which a “maximum pressure” campaign was imposed on Tehran. Trump this week revived this pressure campaign via ramped-up sanctions.
Khamenei continued, “But the US did not carry out that agreement. The same person who is now in office tore up that agreement. We must learn from this experience.”
He then emphasized, “One must not negotiate with a government like the US government. Negotiations with it is not wise, it is not intelligent, and is not honorable.”

Pretty much speaks for itself

Re sympathy for wounded IDF terrorists:
In passing I found this pertinent insight proffered by on of the literary and philosophical geniuses in the ZH comments section:

Not a lot of sympathy.
As someone who protested the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars, I got spit on, assaulted, and called every name on earth by some blood-thirsty 20somethings ready to kill Mohammad.

Then they come back missing their face or have to walk on their femurs for the rest of their life and aren’t so boastful any more.

Suddenly they “died for nothing.” What were they planning to die for when they left? And why were they so stupid? They had it shouted in their ears that they were dying for Halliburton.

And then the ones like Brian Mast become congressmen — missing his goddamn legs — and wears an ISRAELI uniform in Congress and wants to deport Arabs while embracing infinity Indians.

Nah. Most vets are nice guys when they’re vets. Before they were vets, they were usually ******* assholes.

Well said.

Lebanese PM forms new government including Hezbollah allies
quote

Prime Minister Nawaf Salam officially announced the formation of a new government for Lebanon on 8 February, naming 24 ministers to his cabinet, including five allied with the so-called “Shia duo” of Hezbollah and the Amal Movement.
“Reform is the only path to salvation, and the government will work to restore trust between the citizen and the state,” Salam said during a short speech from Baabda Palace following the announcement.
“The government will work in harmony among its members, and diversity will not be a source of disruption. I envision establishing a state of law and institutions, and we are laying the foundations for reform and rescue. No government formation will satisfy everyone, but we will work in unity,” the premier added.
Salam also stressed his government would “complete the implementation of [UNSC] Resolution 1701 and the ceasefire agreement” with Israel, stressing that Israeli occupation troops must “withdraw to the last inch of Lebanese territory.”

Despite Washington’s interventionist statements, the country’s new cabinet is split evenly between Christian and Muslim sects, including five ministries headed by allies of Hezbollah and Amal.
According to local reports, these are: Minister of Interior Ahmad Hajjar; Minister of Finance Yassine Jaber; Minister of Health Rakan Nasereddine; Minister of Labor Mohammad Haidar; and Minister of the Displaced Kamal Chehade.

February 8 Recap:
A thread 🧵 on the intensifying Israeli operations against Palestinians across the West Bank 🇵🇸
Tulkarm
➤ For the 13th consecutive day, Israeli forces maintain a suffocating siege, severing electricity, internet, and telecommunications, exacerbating humanitarian conditions.
➤ Bulldozers and snipers remain deployed, with forces besieging Martyr Thabet Thabet Governmental Hospital, seizing nearby homes, and obstructing medical staff and patients.
➤ Residents face severe shortages of drinking water, food, and infant supplies.
➤ Seven-year-old Saddam Rajab from Kafr al-Labad succumbed to injuries sustained during the ongoing aggression.
Jenin
➤ 25 Palestinians have been killed over 19 days of Israeli military operations, per WAFA.
➤ Israeli forces bulldozed the entrance to Jenin Governmental Hospital, now under siege, and attacked refugee camps (media 1.2).
➤ A Palestine Red Crescent team treated a young man missing for 19 days after being shot in Jenin camp (media 3).
➤ Raids near the Jalbuni roundabout led to assaults and arrests, including three from Yamoun and two from Ya’bad.
➤ Homes in Al-Hadaf neighborhood and Wadi Burqin were demolished.
➤ Israeli authorities forced residents of Jabal al-Mukabber and Umm Tuba to demolish their own homes to avoid fines.
➤ Omar Walid Bashir (living in a 35m² room with his family) and an 8-member family (in a 110m² home) were displaced. WAFA notes this as part of a systematic effort to expel Palestinians from East Jerusalem.
Tubas
➤ Israeli forces withdrew after widespread destruction of civilian properties, streets, and water lines, per Mayor Najeh Bani Odeh.
➤ Eight Palestinians were taken into detention, including a man from Bardala at a Jericho checkpoint, per the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society.
➤ The siege on Al-Far’a refugee camp continues, with snipers deployed and residents lacking water, food, and medicine.
➤ An Israeli military vehicle struck a Red Crescent ambulance transporting a patient from the camp.

From Gaza News Now
Netanyahu to Fox News on Trump plan:
“It’s not a forced transfer. The idea is to allow those who want to leave the Strip temporarily, and then they can return on condition that they renounce terrorism.”
When we complete changing the Middle East there will be more normalization agreements.
📌 No talk of a Palestinian state after the October 7 massacre
📌 We eliminated the Iranian axis in the region and Syria collapsed immediately after that
📌 An agreement with President Trump makes us stronger and allows us to achieve a quick victory and change the Middle East.
📌 I discussed with President Trump the need to ensure that Iran does not have nuclear weapons, eliminate what remains of Hamas, and release the hostages.
📌 With President Trump, we can change the course of history and achieve a broader and more lasting peace.
We have recovered 75% of the living hostages held by Hamas and I intend to free the rest.
📌 Committed to achieving the three war goals: eliminating Hamas, releasing the hostages, and ensuring that Gaza will not pose a threat to us.
📌 President Trump’s Gaza proposal is the first new idea in years and has the potential to change everything in the Strip.
Hamas caused the destruction in Gaza by fighting in densely populated areas and by setting traps in every house
📌 Let the people of Gaza out of what you call the largest prison in the world without forced eviction or ethnic cleansing.
📌 Everyone describes Gaza as the largest prison in the world and then they don’t let them leave.
📌 President Trump will not send troops to Gaza or fund reconstruction, but will get independent funding for this purpose.
📌 If the residents of the Gaza Strip are given the option to leave, they will leave.
📌 Arab and Gulf countries should finance the reconstruction of Gaza and this is their chance to prove their interest in the sect
📌 When we complete changing the Middle East there will be more normalization agreements.
📌 No talk of a Palestinian state after the October 7 massacre
The ICC’s accusation that I starved the people of Gaza is not true, but I gave instructions to provide them with food and water
The Ayatollahs in Iran will not end Jewish history .

I would be wary of assuming that it is actually HTS that is attacking Hezbullah. Firstly because therefore many different Daesh in the Coalition and because deception is commonplace in war. They could be IOF , Ukrainian mercenaries, or some other mercenaries under BoJo’s British banner.
Craig Murray is on the ground, so he may be right. USUKIS used Ukrainians in Iraq after the Iraq war, and Ukraine and Israel are both Revisionist Zionist Nazis.

When Nutcase projects the term ‘sect’ onto the Palestinians, he forgets that
the entire world has seen two ageing Khazar leaders competing with eachother for piety in their worship of their eligious, adopted totem, The Land of Zion.
Their sectarian piety was clear to all.
They really did the rituals of looking at a book and officiating in a religious ceremony, like true believers.

Just in case he can’t get the Palestinians to voluntarily leave their own land, Trump is sendimg plenty of bombs to Israel. And some of the stockpile he is sending them won’t be ready until 2028, so he’s looking long-term committment here.
Asshole. Lying PoS.
———–
The US Department of Defense announced on Friday that the State Department has approved military sales to Israel totaling more than $7 billion, and would be providing thousands of bombs and missiles. It comes amid a fragile ceasefire agreement between West Jerusalem and Hamas.
Earlier this week, US President Donald Trump met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House. During a joint press briefing, Trump floated the idea of Washington owning the enclave. He also proposed relocating the Palestinians outside of Gaza, and that neighboring states would be pay.
According to the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), two separate sale requests were sent to Congress on Friday. One is for $6.75 billion worth of of munitions, guidance kits, and other related equipment. The deliveries would begin this year.
The second arms package includes 3,000 Hellfire missiles and associated equipment, at an estimated cost of $660 million. Deliveries of these missiles are expected to begin in 2028, and their use will require additional training from the US military.
The sale is another step in Trump’s effort to bolster Israel’s weapons stocks. Shortly after taking office in late January, he rescinded a hold on sending 2,000-pound bombs to Israel. Former President Joe Biden’s administration had previously halted this shipment due to concerns about civilian casualties, especially during an attack on the southern Gazan city of Rafah.
However, Biden also informally notified Congress about a $8 billion arms deal last month, according to several media reports. Axios has claimed that the deal could be partly supplied from current US stocks, but most would take a year or more to deliver.
The DSCA announcement comes despite requests from Democratic lawmakers to pause the sale, pending further information. Representative Gregory Meeks, ranking Democrat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, criticized the move, stating it breaks with the long-standing precedent of congressional review for major weapons sales. “In the United States we do not have kings – we are a democracy rooted in the Constitution, governed by laws,” Meeks said.
However, this is not the first time the Trump administration has bypassed the traditional weapons review process. In 2019, he declared a national emergency to expedite the sale of over $8 billion in weapons to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Jordan, circumventing congressional objections related to human rights concerns.
