These mini open forums are fun places to put comments and ideas that range far and wide — and Africa is as far and wide as it gets, Newbie, so your first comment here is well placed, Newbie!
Yesterday I followed a link to China’s response to the earthquakes in far Tibet, where I found the most lovely photo of Qomolangma, (we could forget the name ‘Everest’ although that name has its own meaningfully melodious suggestivity as well.) It takes an earthquake to shift our gaze to that lovely photo from base camp communities.
I know many resent China’s occupation of Tibet, which was harsh at its beginnings, just as the SMO of Russia in Ukraine is harsh to many, but to see a Tibetan child playing with a kitten in the shelter provided by the Chinese gave me hope for Tibet’s future. It’s rather like two pieces of granite that don’t fit tightly together at first over years subtly grinding down to a marvellous fit. May it be so the other granite slabs grinding together this past year!
It is humbling.

I follow Africa Intel and African Stream on Telegram, although with the genocide going on in Palestine I’ve been somewhat distracted.
African Stream were getting pilloried and banned/restricted by some Western nations, so that’s probably a fairly good indication that they are irritating the kind of people that deserve to be irritated. They also reference any sources quite meticulously.

Yeah, Africa Stream is excellent
I see that the NY Times is now openly calling for an invasion of Venezuela, seems the ceasefire in Gaza and attempts to stop the Ukrainian conflict are part of a pivot to the “backyard” – serving the Cuban Miami Mafia that are part of Trump’s base. Cuba and Nicaragua should also be expecting harder times, and the progressive Colombian president should be checking his plane and under his car meticulously. I am sure that the Mexican president is also going to have some fun supplied by the US.
And the Western-puppet president of South Korea who attempted a coup and a war with North Korea has been taken into custody after an arrest team of over a 1,000 invaded the presidential palace. Lots of shenanigans still going on there as the US works in the background to get another puppet as president. The constitutional court still has to find him guilty, and that’s not a slam dunk. The South Koreans may have to mass in the streets to get those judges to do the right thing. If he is not found guilty, he becomes president again and serves out his term.

In modern times, aboard the stately USS Kamila Harris—a beacon of naval prowess—three intrepid souls prepared to embark upon a journey that would lead them into the heart of history. Their mission? To visit HMS Victory, the revered flagship of Admiral Nelson, which rested gracefully in Portsmouth, England, a relic of sea-bound tales woven into the very fabric of maritime lore.
At the helm was Captain Monique “Moe” Lawrence, …

Biden Warns of ‘Oligarchy’
https://www.rt.com/news/610974-biden-farewell-oligarchy-tech/
“In his farewell address, the outgoing US president drew parallels with President Eisenhower’s ‘military-industrial complex.’
‘An oligarchy is taking place in America of extreme wealth, power and influence that literally threatens our entire democracy, our basic rights and freedoms, and a fair shot for everyone to get ahead,’ he stated.”
And few did more to support it than Genocide Joe did.

Long-time reader of the great comments. As an American, anarchist-leaning libertarian, it amazes me how much common ground there is throughout the political spectrums on the depravity of the USA. Gives me much hope.
One thing I wonder about seems to be a sacred cow. Why does almost nobody acknowledge that the power of the USA comes from its magic-money-printing machine, which the owners thereof will do ANYTHING to protect. Isn’t it that simple?
Lord Acton is wrong, sort of, power doesn’t just corrupt, but it attracts the psychopaths who are willing to pay the highest price to get it. Wouldn’t restoring the gold standard be the ultimate democratic (not voting, but real power of the people) silver bullet? Or are most of us just statists and want to use the power for “good”? Probably. Ask yourself what you would do if you had a magic-money-printing machine, and how you would protect it, and how you might self-servingly “adjust” your moral compass to continue protecting it.
I have heard Bret Weinsten talk much of how “zero is a special number”, in regards to Twitter being the “one” that opens the information floodgates against the censorship regime. I agree. But “zero” was the number that USA was trying to protect when they murdered Gaddafi who wanted to introduce the gold standard in just “one” country. If Putin or Xi really want to defeat the empire, they would implement a gold standard. Unfortunately, that would undermine their power too – no chance. We must save ourselves.
This 100-year experiment in fiat money has been a disaster.

The LA Fires, Esoteric Astrologer’s analysis
Most people are sure to immediately dismiss this as non-sense. It is possible that a few will find it interesting & helpful.
On ~Jan 13, Phillip Lindsay, AKA the Esoteric Astrologer –shared his insightful views on the Cali fires… The first & last parts + a link to the whole piece, are below for anyone interested.

“Nations…have seven centres, as have all forms of existence from the human and animal upwards, and it is an interesting study to discover these centres and note the type of energy which flows through them. In connection with the United States of America, Chicago is the solar plexus centre, whilst New York is the throat centre and Washington the head centre. The heart centre is Los Angeles. (The Externalisation of the Hierarchy, Alice A. Bailey. p.85.)

The awakening of the heart centre in any entity is a major evolutionary goal and a significant phase of that process may well be occurring in LA right now – during Capricorn, a sign of initiation.
… … …

“I see your hair is burning
Hills are filled with fire
If they say I never loved you
You know they are a liar.”
(LA Woman, The Doors) 1971

Thanks, Psycho. I figured you might respond. Why do you think a giant empire (albeit, non-expansionist apparently) like China will eliminate this corporate-fascist partnership that big governments and big business have been inflicting on us all?
Wouldn’t a gold-standard make it much easier to keep all of these governments in check? I think there’s a few very good first steps that would get us 80% there: gold standard, eliminate corporate organization, and eliminate IP. These would all decentralize and empower local communities.

All joking aside, the results are marvelous.
American youth learning from Chinese that they have been lied to and China is not what the propaganda makes of it.
A nightmare for the regime. Sure they want to call the consequences of their actions a psyop. Typical.
Bootlickers online seething and calling to deport anyone who has made an account.
Also after a few days the Chinese app suddenly has a massive influx of US military and cops.
TF are they trying to achieve?
Anyway, the TikTok ban is working out great.

A value based money would keep the sovereign bankers in check to a certain degree but we need sovereign bankers first instead of private ones.
Since Roman time economies have been a mix of public and private activities. Just like government need to be organized and managed well on the public side, private organizations need to be organized and managed by governments to meet social needs and minimize people and ecological abuses.
The concept of IP is to manage the reward of personal or group creativity and I think it still has a place but it is currently not managed for social benefit and non-financial/social abuse.

i didnt want to go off topic, but i thought i might waste a bit of time talking about my nuke dreams.
I have had, I estimate, about 20, I can remember about ten. I know I cant remember some, be ause the first one I do remember was I was on a small patrol ship, when a nule hit, the water lifted our ship about fifty feet in the air, the deck went perpendicular to the ground, and I started to fall off, grasping a hand rail before hitting the water and waking up. I was just out of high school, and remember thinking about it, as it was different because it was on water, from previous nuke dreams, which were not.
I have had quite a few where I saw the mushroom clouds from afar. In a couple of them, I go down to the ruins and walk among them, I remember one of them I went to downtown seattle and walked among all the twisted i beams of the ruined skyscrapers.
In my most recent,(clouds from afar), I was perched up on a mountain top, hiking, with a view of Everett Wa, when I saw three large white mushroom clouds form, and funnily, I remember my emotions being pretty much, “oh well, that sucks, anyways…”, as opposed to the terror and fear I usually feel.
In my latest one, about a year ago, I ran out of my house to see large dog sized boulders, flying though the air and landing all over the place, a bunch of them glowing hot. I ran for a long ways until I found a house with a little cutout window to the basement.
I went down into the basement, and immediately started to take off my clothes to get all the radioactive dust off, when I realized there were about a dozen young people, mostly teenagers and twenty something, all huddled together… ..but curiously happy and excited. I started to tell them everything I knew about nuclear war survival, and felt some kind of thrill of adventure, that then turned to sadness, because I realized I would not be surviving with them and soon dead of radiation poisoning.

Another Thursday of chats with Nima have been completed. I suggest the chat with Alex Krainer and the chat with Michael Hudson and Richard Wolff. Economic issues and their political consequences feature largely in both. And then the musing about geopolitical issues is also fascinating. Krainer offers a very different perspective on Trump but issues the caveat that we still need to see what policies emerge after 20 January and what battles he chooses to fight.

If that’s the case with the “left-liberal” NYT (yeah I know Stephens is a neocon), I can only imagine the pressure he’ll be under from the actual Venezuela/socialism haters in his orbit once he is sworn in.

Seems like a Pulitzer winning political cartoonist from WaPo was arrested today near Sacramento CA.
His crime?
Possession and distribution (on internet) of 134 videos of child pornography.
Some were generated by AI, and CA recently passed a law to cover that, so his trial may be a historic first.
I have no special legal training, but it is possible federal charges could also be applied, after 20 Jan, of course.

I just finished watching the latest Nima/Alex Krainer video and want to write about some of Alex’s perspectives that align with my own.
Alex thinks that the City Of London is the financial center for the globalist God Of Mammon cult and I agree but think he needs to include Rome and Pope Frank.
Alex thinks that we are in a civilization type war about forms of social organization which I have written about here forever and focus on public/private finance.
Alex posits that Trump and his team are ok with multipolarity (may join with Russia) and so at battle with the City Of London globalists which is possible but involves much hopium which I ran out of with Obama.
Alex is optimistic that Trump will stop the killing in Occupied Palestine and I am not a believer in Trump’s ability to deliver a lasting resolution to the situation…..but I hope he is correct.
I am glad to read more folks talking about form of social organization issues like public/private finance and continue taking hopium about change to this core jackboot of our current form of social organization…..private finance.
I agree with Alex that the next 6 months are going to be interesting in our world…..I say, bring it on.

The editorial view of the Financial Times is as transparent and resolute as a soap bubble.

Is TikTok pushing Taiwan’s young people closer to China?
A growing number of researchers fear that the controversial app is promoting pro-China content and softening attitudes towards the People’s Republic

Last spring, pupils at National Chia-Yi Girls’ Senior High School in southern Taiwan were set an unusual topic for their annual essay exam: “How to negotiate with a dictator”.
The students had to choose the best survival strategy for a small country facing a powerful neighbour — prevent war at all costs, or deter through strength? The exam paper mentioned Russia’s assault on Ukraine, but the unspoken parallels with China’s threat to their own country were obvious.
Teachers say they were stunned when they got the scripts back: nearly all the teenagers argued that Taiwan must do everything to avoid provoking China into attacking it. “Almost without exception, they wrote that, being small and weak, Taiwan must avoid appearing as a threat to China,” says Chu Yi-chun, who teaches Mandarin. “No matter how they harass us, we must tolerate it.”

There are many potential reasons for these changes. But for a number of Taiwanese social scientists and ruling party politicians, one of the main causes is TikTok, the controversial Chinese social media app that has amassed more than 1bn monthly active users worldwide.
The app “cannot necessarily make Taiwanese youth identify with the Chinese nation or agree to unification with China”, says Eric Hsu, a researcher at the Taiwanese think-tank Doublethink Lab who is working on the first systematic survey of TikTok’s impact on Taiwanese society. “But it can probably lower their apprehension towards China and their will to resist.”

SpaceX catches Starship Booster for the second time.
The following is tech descriptive, you can skip if it is not your thang:
“A block of planned upgrades to the Starship upper stage will debut on this flight test, bringing major improvements to reliability and performance. The vehicle’s forward flaps have been reduced in size and shifted towards the vehicle tip and away from the heat shield, significantly reducing their exposure to reentry heating while simplifying the underlying mechanisms and protective tiling. Redesigns to the propulsion system, including a 25 percent increase in propellant volume, the vacuum jacketing of feedlines, a new fuel feedline system for the vehicle’s Raptor vacuum engines, and an improved propulsion avionics module controlling vehicle valves and reading sensors, all add additional vehicle performance and the ability to fly longer missions. The ship’s heat shield will also use the latest generation tiles and includes a backup layer to protect from missing or damaged tiles.
The vehicle’s avionics underwent a complete redesign, adding additional capability and redundancy for increasingly complex missions like propellant transfer and ship return to launch site. Avionics upgrades include a more powerful flight computer, integrated antennas which combine Starlink, GNSS, and backup RF communication functions into each unit, redesigned inertial navigation and star tracking sensors, integrated smart batteries and power units that distribute data and 2.7MW of power across the ship to 24 high-voltage actuators, and an increase to more than 30 vehicle cameras giving engineers insight into hardware performance across the vehicle during flight. With Starlink, the vehicle is capable of streaming more than 120 Mbps of real-time high-definition video and telemetry in every phase of flight, providing invaluable engineering data to rapidly iterate across all systems.”

So there’s talk of sending Nato troops to police what might be a new DMZ in Ukraine – it will be further discussed after Trump takes office with the likes of the French President Macron and possibly Starmer the UK’s PM getting onboard with it.
In reality though – it will just give Nato and excuse to man the Ukrainian front lines – and to continue the fighting

I expect b will give us his take on the TikTok debacle!
It’s almost as the US wanted to create a stampede .. maybe not where it’s ended up though!
The memes are outta this world already! Which makes it seem sort of pre planned unless they really were put together so effing fast by Chinese AI! There’s the one about a Chinese imitating Trump walking through the transfer of all Timtok posts to the Redbook app! Then there’s the one about all Hollywood icons and superheroes all avidly reading the little red book!
And there are avalanches as Chinese ask USAsians – do they really have to pay for an ambulance? Do they really spend 20% of income on food? Do they really need multiple jobs working over 40 hours a week (and the rest) and still have no money after paying for housing?
It would make you laugh 😂 if not cry, like thousands of yankeedoodles are doing when they see what China has achieved in less the. 50 years raising their poorest whilst the US remains how it started – A slave state , full of xenophobia, violence and poverty.
There is some counter narrative Cope – suggesting that the Chinese will become Americanised by the influx of so many yanks that they will ‘civilise’ them with the western mindset!!
Arnaud Bertrand rips that to shreds with a superlative history lesson – which even includes Mao complaining to Nixon about how hard it is to change the Chinese!
Imagine the Borg becoming De-borged by meeting a world of naive cartoon characters.
The Chinese have been assimilating for Millenia- they don’t look like stopping with the latest bunch of ‘refugees’.

You know, while we carry on trying to take and control Mackinders World Island and fail and fail again for our ziofascist Money and Slave owners – the targets Russia and China run to Africa to help them up – knowing that is where the future of humanity and their survival in the long term will de assured.

“Your visit today is of special significance, because we will not only have an opportunity to discuss all areas of our cooperation, but we will also sign a major basic treaty between Russia and Iran on comprehensive strategic partnership,” the Russian leader said.
He recalled that Moscow and Tehran had been working on the document for a long time.
“I am very pleased that this work has been completed. It is important, because it will open up an opportunity to give an additional impetus to practically all areas of our cooperation,” Putin added.

Iran’s big shift and Trump’s possible/probable role
Bhadrakumar has a “must read” analysis on Iran and where they are headed, (part 1 in an apparent series), starts of revealing Khamenei’s reasons for picking Pezeshkian:
” In Pezeshkian, Khamenei saw a politician with an unblemished record of probity in public life and of strong convictions. Hailing from an Azeri-Kurdish family, Pezeshkian’s understanding of the alchemy that is needed in governance to create unity in diversity in a plural society like Iran is unrivalled. ”
Then Bhadrakumar bullet points Pezeshkian’s (supported by Khamenei) platform.
Then he reveals Biden’s horrific, herky jerky plots and actions.
Then he goes into Saudi, Egypt, Syria positions and events.
Bhadrakumar is writing this series after having been in Iran recently.

Let’s not forget the artificial still imperial controlled sub continent left by the Crown as a disfunctionally divided as the Gertrude Bell (Sykes-Picot) lines Dewan on the maps of West Asia a few decades previously.
‘Our Boy’ as Kissinger referred to him. After he had been honeytrapped by Zioprincess broodmare (Goldsmith) – Imran Khan.
He overthrew the establishment control. Went beyond the soft power control via cricket and promise of dynastic ambition for his children ‘of the blood’ and yet survives.
But like Gandhi and Mandela he now represent the greatest political prisoner of the Collective Waste. Modi stays shtum. A bit of a giveaway about the equally fake nation ‘India’ under the same yolk it has been for centuries by the East India Companies and its backers from say back then.

The Treaty’s been signed and now awaits ratification. It has 47 Articles, which can be read here. I was incorrect about the degree of the military portion of the alliance. Here’s the relevant position from Article 3.3:
“3. In the event that one of the Contracting Parties is subjected to aggression, the other Contracting Party shall not provide any military or other assistance to the aggressor that would contribute to the continuation of the aggression, and shall contribute to the settlement of the differences that have arisen on the basis of the Charter of the United Nations and other applicable norms of international law.”
There’re further points about defense and security that do allow for joint cooperation, terrorism and piracy being the two main areas that we know the Outlaw US Empire operates. I also see Article Two as important:
“The Contracting Parties shall pursue a state policy based on mutual respect for national and security interests, the principles of multilateralism, the peaceful settlement of disputes, the rejection of unipolarity and hegemony in world affairs, as well as counteract the interference of third parties in the internal and external affairs of the Contracting Parties.”
The press conference transcript has yet to be completed. All will eventually appear at my substack.

https://simplicius76.substack.com/p/the-fools-war-useful-idiots-at-the
A late response to Simplicius article mentioning the symbolism of Milley. Looking at the painting the UKrain map with the hoped for Zaporhizye dream, Red outlined in a particularly phallic shape, it overlays the map of China/Russia. The 23′ summer of offensive thrust would top the modernized Red threat.
Symbolically Telling is the table, and the books and papers on top of the desk, blot out and shadow the American flag. His war plans are more important than the US.
The flag to his left is shown clearly and prominently, the arrows held by the eagle Cupidly (not stupidly dear reader) piercing his heart. The other service flags? are arrayed with a shade less prominence as Old Glory, but they fill almost the width of the back drop.
The painting is of a picture, and it has another picture that is a reproduction of a staged admittedly great photo op, the raising of the flag at Iwo Jima. It’s placement near the top gives this Hall of Mirrors effect priority. A group of men raising the flag.
Milleys confused eyes countenance reflects his interior state, medals galore colorfully splashed like a Pollack painting over his rotund chest.
The clenched right fist near the groin suggests a masturbatory gesture, frozen in time. The left hand ready to assist in a jiff, a good wanking. The uniform suit coat suggests a dress like quality, with the privates area a blackened area, almost like a deep, dark hole. One wonders, is he? is he not? a part of the globohomo civilized society. Not that there is anything wrong with that.
Shout out to Dungroanin for the literary influence.

Lavrov was asked about Rubio’s confirmation hearing remarks:

Question: Yesterday you listened attentively to and watched the speech of the future head of the State Department? Did you note any of the formulations he said about the Ukrainian crisis and its settlement? In your opinion, can we work with them?
Sergey Lavrov: I still believe that everything we are hearing now does not take the form of an official position. They have such a system: when they are nominated for positions in the administration, most of the positions are subject to confirmation in the Senate. At the hearings, they are asked and try to “fish” out some interesting and contradictory things.
The Democrats want the Republicans to look less convincing because US President Joe Biden said that his four years are historic four years for America’s greatness.
I would not unequivocally rely on the ideas and thoughts that are being voiced at this stage in my analysis now. When Donald Trump was asked about this in an interview, he said that he would work actively. We just need to stop this bloody mess. But first, we need to stop the office.
He will come to the “office” in five days, then we will see what proposals will be formulated.
Question: At the same time, they all say that preparations are already underway for a meeting between President of Russia Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump.
Sergey Lavrov: Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov has already commented on this, and yours truly. There are no bilateral contacts devoted to preparations for the meeting.
If they are “ripening” and they want to prepare such a meeting, we will wait for proposals. The “ball” is in their court. We did not interrupt our ties and regular consultations.
At one of the news conferences, President of Russia Vladimir Putin was asked whether he was ready for talks, and as always, he replied that he was ready for talks at any time if there were serious proposals. Donald Trump heard this and said at his news conference that Vladimir Putin wanted talks, and he was ready.
This is now all at a rather unspecific stage.
Question: Can all this be organised quickly or not, given the current situation, when almost everyone on our part is under sanctions, and these “comrades” have done a lot of things over the years?
Sergey Lavrov: The “comrades” have done a lot of things, including to a great extent to the detriment of themselves, primarily the Europeans. Making Europe “small” is an undeclared goal of any US administration: to remove a competitor, as well as Russia, China, and everyone else.
But if you want, everything is possible. If there is a political will to “make contact”, then I have no doubt that the relevant services will organize everything.

During his chat with Nima, Dr. Doctorow provided his assessment of the hearing, admitting he was somewhat surprised by Rubio’s poise and ability to answer probing questions, noting it was quite a difference from Tillerson and Pompeo duo that plagued Trump’s first term. Plus, Trump has named special envoys to deal with Russia, China and Palestine, which sidelines Rubio to a degree. Again, the word/phrase most observers are using is wait and see what policies emerge.

Trump has order that his inauguration be moved indoors because of the killer weather.
Interesting factoid about JFK’s inauguration.
Inauguration Day was preceded by a snowfall, thus Washington was all aglow with sunlight glaring off the white coating. And it created a dire prophecy.

John Kennedy’s inauguration was curious indeed.
Kennedy had invited renowned but aged poet Robert Frost
to read a poem during the inauguration.
It was actually Jackie Kennedy’s idea, the Vassar educated wife of JFK, to have Robert Frost be the bearer of a cultural votive candle.
The dreams, fantasy, glamour and downright bullshit that surrounded the Kennedy Camelot mystique inspired our nation to be positive about it’s bright future.
The other side of John Kennedy was the calculating politician who
entangled himself with the powerful Lyndon Baines Johnson. This was Texan Johnson, the prodigious urinator, who, if Knighted, would have been dubbed “LBJ The Crass”.
Inauguration Day was preceded by a heavy snowfall, thus Washington was all aglow with sunlight glaring off the white coating.
Inspired for the Kennedys Frost had penned a new poem especially for the occasion. But Frost dared anger the gods. Instead of keeping his place as Erudite Poet Frost assumed to himself the role of Royal Oracle.
As Robert Frost began to read his aged eyes were struck blind by the sun glaring off the fresh snow.
The poem he had written was supposed to conclude in this
proud way:
“It makes the prophet in us all presage
The glory of a next Augustan age
Of a power leading from its strength and pride,
Of young amibition eager to be tried,
Firm in our free beliefs without dismay,
In any game the nations want to play.
A golden age of poetry and power
Of which this noonday’s the beginning hour.”
The gods had heard Robert Frost and blinding him with white
light forced him to recite from memory a DIFFERENT poem.
Yes, Frost could not continue. Instead he recited from memory his older
well known poem entitled “A Gift Outright”.
Two sets of ears were at the podium with the poet-oracle. One, the dwellers of Camelot, and the other, waiting for more power, the cowpunchers of Texas.
The gods granted the poet his moment as prophet and the poem, instead of telling of a country entering “A golden age of poetry and power”, concluded this way:
“But still unstoried, artless, unenhanced,
Such as she was, such as she would become.”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQG9oxpMI1k
Thank you Richard L. for linking to this lengthy interview between Danny Haiphong and Brian Berletic. The latter explains in detail what he believes is occurring in today’s geo politics, but more importantly why. He also explains where his research for his views come from, which is a document he specifically refers to during the interview, written by the empire’s Brookings Institute thirty five years ago, which Brian believes any one can still read on the Brookings Institute’s own webpage and likely reach the same conclusions Brian does. The document is forecasting foreign policy for the united states over the next twenty five years, beginning in 1990. The only caveat for the empire has been unforeseen events have created a ten year lag in their plans, that the empire is feverishly trying to overcome.
Thanks again Richard, t’was the best interview I’ve seen in ages. A little over two and a half hours, but worth every minute, imho.

Eventually, everyone will know that:

We are entering a new era, a new cosmic cycle… the Age of Aquarius… Countless millions throughout the world will awaken to the true purpose of their lives. A deeper, more soundly-based attitude to life will develop and people will… come to understand the purpose of their incarnation, and, more and more, they will take a conscious part in their own evolution, creating modes of freedom and justice which this world has never before seen.

We are witnessing the death throes of a civilization & birth pangs of a new civilization. Turmoil & upheaval are inevitable in this process.

If you ask me the Nobel Foundations reputation has been severely damaged – and it has very little credibility left

As far as I’m concerned, the prize lost all credibility when it was awarded to Teddy Roosevelt.

Hydroclimate Whiplash

The underlying idea is that the water-vapor holding capacity of the atmosphere increases exponentially as a function of temperature.
And in that article, my coauthors and I use the analogy of the expanding atmospheric sponge to describe how this works, which is that not only do you raise how intense precipitation can become, but then in the reverse direction, that increased water-vapor holding capacity also means that when the atmosphere is not saturated, it actually has an increased thirstiness, if you will. It means, in this context, the landscape could become drier faster. The “thirsty” atmosphere steals water away from plants and from humans and animals fast, unless you’re delivering more water consistently.
So that’s the expanding atmospheric sponge effect. It really drives the majority of what we’re talking about when it comes to hydroclimate whiplash.

a couple of weeks after Congress raisies the Federal Debt Limit – BOOM, already hit the new debt limit.
Janet Yellen sends short and scary letter to Congress.

…I write to keep you apprised of actions the Treasury Department is taking in regard to the debt limit. In my letter of December 27, 2024, I noted that the Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2023 suspended the statutory debt limit through January 1, 2025, and established a new limit effective January 2, and I informed you that Treasury expected to reach the new limit between January 14 and January 23. This letter serves to notify you, pursuant to 5 U.S.C. § 8348(l)(2), of the extraordinary measures that Treasury will begin using on January 21…..
