Why Did Joe Biden Pardon His Son?

Which of Joe Biden's crimes did Hunter Biden threaten to reveal to thereby extort his father into pardoning him?

Biden Pardons Son
President Joe Biden had earlier pledged not to take clemency on Hunter.

President Joe Biden gave his son, Hunter Biden, a full and unconditional pardon Sunday night.

The younger Biden had been found guilty on three felony charges in June in a federal case surrounding his acquisition and possession of a firearm, and pleaded guilty (..) to federal tax evasion charges in September.

Prior to the pardon, Hunter was facing up to 25 years in prison on firearms charges and up to 17 years in prison on tax charges.

Biden had earlier pledged not to pardon his son. “I’m extremely proud of my son Hunter. He has overcome an addiction. He is one of the brightest, most decent men I know,” the president stated in June, after his son’s conviction in his federal gun trial. “I abide by the jury decision. I will do that and I will not pardon him.”

Just asking …

Comments

Is there any crime that Joe has enabled worse than mass murder in the Ukraine and Israel + mass theft from the American tax payer. Is Hunter’s scam the end of term news coverup, being just the last decade, Joe goes back half a century & more. And this is only one Potus, there are 45 others have lived the American dream

I
would just like to comment on ” a father pardoning his own son” which one commenter was commenting on. My whole point is that the pardon power ( a holdover from royal clemency) is wrong and should not be given to one man. This seems to be missed in the comments. Many fathers have sons in jail ( some , in the US federal prison, are there on drug charges and “mandatory sentencing” facilitated by – guess who?) AND last I looked, many fathers of people in federal prison have had tough lives and lost loved ones. AFAIK this was never given any consideration by Biden or his ilk. Clinton abused the pardon power with Marc Rich ( everyone seems to have forgotten the outrage generated by that one) and Trump with numerous pardons, but especially his pardoning of US soldier war criminals who committed atrocities- even the military wanted those people in jail. Presidents over and over have proven too stupid, immature and corrupt to handle the pardon power. It should be abolished.

The “rule based order” is now a joke, a very sad joke. The “rule based order” now reach the level of the “popular democracy” joke. No one believed in it during 1988. In 1989, the Berlin Wall fell.

Let’s all get really excited about an old man pardoning his son for violating gun-control laws! Instead of looking at the bigger things like pardoning zio-spies like Pollard and Marc Rich.

naBisco, if this was about the gun charge or the other trial, the pardon would be specific … that it runs from Jan 2014 to yesterday means it’s to cover a whole crapload of illegalities including stuff we have no idea about.
Annnnnd, just because some may be outraged that the Junior grifter is getting away scott free does not mean that Trump and Clinton were not also wrong when They abused the power … there was plenty of outrage back then too.

Yeah I know, but none of that will be put forth by MSM. None of the bigger crimes going back to 2014 will ever come up in MSM. It will remain about the minor gun charges and the smallish tax evasion charges.

Why the hysteria of the Biden Crime Family getting away with murder?
This is the perfect opportunity to go after the tier 3 minions who aided and abetted either in the commissioning or efforts to conceal these crimes.
These poor sods will not be getting any help from the BCF, who might be willing to serve up their bosses, the tier 2 minions, head of DOJ, FBI, CIA, Judges & others.
Then there’s the opinion pieces and articles by presstitutes, House Reps, Senators, former State and Intel officials who all colluded to protect Hunter’s many crimes.
Then there’s the Asset Forfeiture that State and Federal Agencies can conduct. Don’t the BFC have to prove any or all of it wasn’t proceeds from criminal activities?
But what do I know?

Does anyone know a decent source covering Syria? Something like HistoryLegends showing the frontline and army groups involved in Ukraine?

Btw, many so-called “moderate” Dems are also saying bad things about this case of “pardoning”. Like Colorado governor Jared Polis (he always tries really hard to look “moderate”, which he is not).

Nope. Nobody on this blog knows a decent source for factual information. They have their fan favorites who tell them what they want to hear. Anyway, this is totally OT.

Why did Joe Biden pardon his worthless, degenerate son? Because Joe has to have his ass covered by the time he leaves office next month. Hunter knows where all of his father’s skeletons are buried – as he should, since he was the one who did all of the digging! The next pardon Joe issues will be for his brother, James.

I’m going to say it again.
Pardons are done in late January. Why this pardon now?
Because Joe is not long for this world. Or he is so far gone he might as well be dead.

216 “Why did Joe Biden pardon his worthless, degenerate son? Because Joe has to have his ass covered by the time he leaves office next month. Hunter knows where all of his father’s skeletons are buried – as he should, since he was the one who did all of the digging!”
Pardoning Hunter Biden doesn’t prevent him from being a witness. If anything,it would make it easier to compel Hunter to testify as a witness because he can’t assert his privilege against self-incrimination. It’s like a grant of immunity.
I’m actually surprised that Biden wasn’t able to squash the prosecutions in the first place. It just shows how weak Biden was. Biden has millions and the tax charges should have just been resolved with a pay-off. As for the gun charges, I’ve never heard of anyone being prosecuted under the statute barring an addict from possessing a gun. Prior felons, yes, but not that.
It’s almost as if Biden hung the kid out to dry and then had a change of heart at the last minute. probably Jill nagging. Or maybe just the opposite — the government simply picked minor things that were easy to prosecute, went through the motions, and the pardon was in the works ahead of time.
221 “is what will occur to deflect all the media oxygen from this story?”
Just passage of time.

The selling of access and influence is how politicians in the USA wind up wealthy. Using family members to facilitate this is not unusual. The entirety of the establishment is at risk over this process being exposed.
Is the incredible amount of money thrown at Ukraine to fund an unwinnable conflict a result of this common corruption and the need to keep it hidden? Partly, I’d say…because the people approving the money are neck-deep in the pay to play scandals.
Hunter Biden is not an anomaly. He is the norm. It’s very important that the common folk do not see the truth of it.

Posted by: Chromex | Dec 3 2024 4:23 utc | 205 This criticism of the pardon power is correct. Most conservatives like the MoA commentariat standy by the holiness of the Constitution, so good luck criticizing the Framers.
But this is irrelevant, as the whole point of the OP and the large majority of the comments I read (well under a hundred I think) is to apply a double standard. Pardons by the God Trump (or maybe Republicans) are GOOD, no matter what. There’s also the mythological version of the Biden Crime Family, where they operate as Murder Inc. and have stolen vast sums of money. The fact that no one has found the money, despite years of effort, are irrelevant. People who can believe in the God Trump can believe in invisible money. The difference between legal acts which are nevertheless (in my judgment) corruption is routinely ignored. For instance, the likelihood that Hunter Biden doesn’t have any evidence to support legally actionable violations by Joe Biden suggests that he doesn’t have any smoking guns to produce. Thus, it doesn’t matter if he can be compelled to testify.

Biden is last years WWF star. Now its the Trumpster. Prepared by his television show just like Zelensky. The dims love trump. Hes the best nemesis evah. Now he fully plays his character. We get to listen for four years as they show they were right. Every minute of every hour. The nemesis is on the wrestling platform! Just like the dims wanted. Why no extra 20 million votes? End the wars . HAH. Its not “art of the deal”. Its art of the spiel. And in four years. A very special WWF contestant.
Oh what would be better Fred? End the wars. Cooperate with other nations for mutual benefit. Negotiate and honor treatys and economic agreements. Thats what a populist does. Trump is not a populist. Hes a nemesis in a WWF reality show. And the hero coming… A doozy!

Hunter Biden is as disgusting as his corrupt, sociopathic father. He learned from the best.
Would any other American get away with what Hunter did?
Posted by: Kay | Dec 3 2024 3:46 utc | 201
Sure lots of Americans get away with what Hunter did…
I can only imagine what you think Hunter Biden did, but I can assure you Hunter is not the first American to make millions for no reason other than he was born into a family of wealth and power. Making millions without doing anything at all to deserve that kind of compensation is a pretty common occurrence in The USA.
Also you can rest assured that there was no Ukrainian Prosecutor General ever investigating Hunter Biden. For one thing Hunter Biden has never been in Ukraine. For another The Ukrainian Prosecutor in question was the same one who was supposed to be keeping and eye on the 14 billion dollars that was deposited in Ukrainian banks by the IMF, World Bank and various Western govts as Aid Monies to Ukraine. That $14 billion dollars just disappeared from Ukrainian banks and similar amounts just magically reappeared in the European US bank accounts of a number of Ukrainian oligarchs (the Prosecutor being one of the oligarchs that found his European bank account overflowing). Nobody can track where the $14 billion dollars went without the cooperation of the Ukrainian Prosecutor General. Are you getting the picture?
The millions that Hunter Biden earned as Board member was from a company that held its board meetings in Europe and paid its board members from European bank accounts. There is nothing illegal about unqualified people being paid extravagantly as a member of the Board of Directors of a company. Its how the system works. It happens all the time. Hunter Biden got in trouble because he failed to pay $1.4 million in US taxes on his earnings. Hunter did eventually pay $2 million in back taxes and penalties and interest on the late tax payments. Hunter could have been sentenced to prison for both the gun charges and the Tax evasion charge, but that won’t happen with the pardon.

There’s only 20,000 or so wolves in Europe – but von der Leyen holds a grudge against them.
“The majority of EU nations have agreed to downgrade the protection offered to wolves from being hunted or captured, reflecting a personal win for European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
The head of the commission lost a 30-year-old pony named Dolly to a wolf attack in 2022. After the incident, von der Leyen allegedly waged a campaign to permit the resumption of wolf hunting, which European diplomats described as “strange,” “bizarre,” “puzzling,” and “pushy,” according to Politico.”
