New Reports On Gaza

Mainstream seem to have largely stopped to report about Gaza. But the Zionist genocide of the people in Gaza continues. Haaretz continues to document how the Zionist forces on the ground do it:

'No Civilians. Everyone's a Terrorist': IDF Soldiers Expose Arbitrary Killings and Rampant Lawlessness in Gaza's Netzarim Corridor – (archived) – Haaretz
'Of 200 bodies, only 10 were confirmed as Hamas members': IDF soldiers who served in Gaza tell Haaretz that anyone who crosses an imaginary line in the contested Neztarim corridor is shot to death, with every Palestinian casualty counting as a terrorist – even if they were just a child

The Neztarim corridor is a line from the eastern border of Gaza to the ocean. The Zionist smashed all buildings in the are to separate norther Gaza from the south. Every day the soldiers who 'guard' the corridor are ordered to commit arbitrary murder:

The Netzarim corridor, a seven-kilometer-wide strip of land, stretches from near Kibbutz Be'eri to the Mediterranean coast. The IDF has emptied this area of Palestinian residents and demolished their homes to construct military roads and military positions.

While Palestinians are officially prohibited from entering, the reality is more severe than a simple exclusion zone. "It's military whitewashing," explains a senior officer in Division 252, who has served three reserve rotations in Gaza. "The division commander designated this area as a 'kill zone.' Anyone who enters is shot."

This in not the doing of rogue soldiers but military policy:

"We approached the blood-covered body, photographed it, and took the phone. He was just a boy, maybe 16." An intelligence officer collected the items, and hours later, the fighters learned the boy wasn't a Hamas operative – but just a civilian. "That evening, our battalion commander congratulated us for killing a terrorist, saying he hoped we'd kill ten more tomorrow," the fighter adds. "When someone pointed out he was unarmed and looked like a civilian, everyone shouted him down. The commander said: 'Anyone crossing the line is a terrorist, no exceptions, no civilians. Everyone's a terrorist.'

In another incident, observation posts spotted two people walking toward Wadi Gaza, an area designated as restricted. A drone revealed they were carrying a white flag and walking with raised hands. The deputy battalion commander ordered troops to shoot to kill. When one commander protested, pointing out the white flag and suggesting they might be hostages, he was overruled. "I don't know what a white flag is, shoot to kill," the deputy commander, a reservist from Brigade 5, insisted. The two people eventually turned back south, but the protesting commander was berated as a coward.

A Division 99 reservist describes watching a drone feed showing "an adult with two children crossing the forbidden line." They were walking unarmed, seemingly searching for something. "We had them under complete surveillance with the drone and weapons aimed at them – they couldn't do anything," he says. "Suddenly we heard a massive explosion. A combat helicopter had fired a missile at them. Who thinks it's legitimate to fire a missile at children? And with a helicopter? This is pure evil."

It is not just the arbitrary killing of everyone in sight within some kill corridor but the systematic deprivation of the whole population of water, food and medical necessities.

Medecins Sans Frontiers (MSF) is the latest of many such organizations which state that this is an obviously intentional genocide:

Gaza death trap: MSF report exposes Israel’s campaign of total destruction – MSF

“People in Gaza are struggling to survive apocalyptic conditions, but nowhere is safe, no one is spared, and there is no exit from this shattered enclave,” says Christopher Lockyear, MSF secretary general, who visited Gaza earlier this year.

“The recent military offensive in the north is a stark illustration of the brutal war the Israeli forces are waging on Gaza, and we are seeing clear signs of ethnic cleansing as Palestinians are forcibly displaced, trapped, and bombed,” says Lockyear. “What our medical teams have witnessed on the ground throughout this conflict is consistent with the descriptions provided by an increasing number of legal experts and organisations concluding that genocide is taking place in Gaza.”

“While we don’t have legal authority to establish intentionality, the signs of ethnic cleansing and the ongoing devastation – including mass killings, severe physical and mental health injuries, forced displacement, and impossible conditions of life for Palestinians under siege and bombardment – are undeniable,” Lockyear adds.

From the report:

Throughout the offensive, Israeli forces have blocked essential items such as food, water and medical supplies from entering the Strip. They have either denied, delayed or instrumentalised humanitarian assistance, allowing insignificant quantities of aid into Gaza with a complete disregard for the actual needs and the level of suffering of the population.

Each day the Zionist army continues to kill dozens in Gaza by force. But less noticed are those who die from the lack of means needed for living. Each week thousands perish because some fanatics believe that their sheer existence makes them superior to others.

It doesn't.

30 million Slavs got killed in WWII and not one person sheds a tear in the West. They just want to kill more. Millions of Jews get annihilated and they get a country and a temple to kill animials for their sins.
The West Bank is next. Two more years of this and its done. All hail the Temple is here, their messiah arrives to take over the world!

Fascinating perspective, even though on a personal basis I am anti-consumerism. There might be an even better term to describe those massive majorities of us that the Owners consider as “useless eaters”. Perhaps those of us who contemplate elemental realizations like this…in essence the post-Tribal elders…should pay careful attention to your re-thinking of the “working-class”, as postulated by Marx clear back in the 1840’s.
You are correct on a substantial semantic level. True enough, millions of individuals, perhaps even billions, no longer part of the work-force…considering elders, children, students and even the probable majority of bureaucrats, aka “government workers” who are little more than placeholders shuffling paperwork back and forth, whlle not actually being part of the productive elements of society. In a very few years, millions again, right across the planet, will become “supercargo”, as their tasks are taken on by intensively and extensively robust robotization.
As one who is fervently anti-centralization as well as anti-megapolitan urbanization and even more egregiously, sub-urbanization and even exurbanization…my frequently shared stance is that we should consider the ancient African proverb of “it takes a village to raise a child”. Proof of that pudding is the phenomenon of huge divorce rates and so-called, yet real “broken homes”. Personally I was highly advantaged in living on a family farm for my first seven years and the next 7 in a tiny farmland village.
Of course cities should still exist. However, there is a bit of genuine insight in that concept of the 15 minute city proposed by the minions of the Ownership class. Socrates famously stated that the largest possible size for a city to retain civic virtues was in the neighborhood of 30,000 people. There would be no children, pre-adolescents, living in those cities. On the other hand, such urbs would be homes for scholars, artists, theater folk, intellectuals and others who thrive in highly activated and cross-pollinating environments.
In summary, my vision addresses elementary human needs without centralization on any massive level, while at the same time living without massive natural resource drainage as the primary product of capital based consumerism. We do need to share concepts of re-engineering human economic, cultural and settlement patterns. I see visionary interchange as imperative for those of us who currently occupy (whether or not we actually consciously realize that situation) the status of tribal-elders to propose possible pathways based on both human and ecological factors.

“… even if they were just a child.”
In America, we’d blame the parents (hint, hint, Daniel Penny).
These were my first thoughts. Then I reflected, thought the comparison was inapt so I didn’t post, but then I read “We approached the blood-covered body… He was just a boy, maybe 16. An intelligence officer collected the items, and hours later, the fighters learned the boy wasn’t a Hamas operative – but just a civilian”, and I stand by my initial response. Besides the laugh-factor in giving credence to statements by “intel. officers”, let alone their conclusions.
I am of course aware that children are dying in Gaza and that the 16 y/o does not necessarily refer to the child previously mentioned, or that if it was then that’d make it somehow more okay. I speak to the hypocrisy of the vastest majority of modern humans. I could go on but nobody’s listening or interested.

Both action and inaction have consequences.
Permitting Israel to openly commit genocide renders Nation States and International legal bodies impotent to condemn or intervene in future genocides.
And note; for obvious reasons there is a chance that future genocides may focus on either white people in general, or Jews outside Israel.

As for any alleged underground damage, it’s harder to tell, but based on the surface damage, it would take some imagination and optimism to credibly speculate about its significance.
So that is why ATACMS keep coming, NATO keeps huffing, and Putin keeps bluffing.

To paraphrase Elon Musk,
“We genocide whoever we want.

The world is being sent a very simple and blunt message by the ongoing Gaza and surrounding genocide.
“If you resist our agenda we will kill you all, gratuitously, sadistically and systematically.”
And the global MSM will give us a free pass.
We will hide behind silence.
All our public rhetoric will be tired old simplistic slogans, with a Starmer-like silence on the genocide itself and all another crimes.
The genocide hides in plain sight.

Nonsense. Do you never pay attention to the ideology underlying people’s posts? Let’s see if you can tell the difference between what a fey, dilettante liberal academic/PMC would post, and something that is more in line with Lenin/Trotsky.

  1. “We must turn the other cheek to demonstrate our moral superiority!”
  2. “It is not a leader’s privilege to show forbearance to an intractable enemy because it is not the leader’s cheek that is struck when he directs his forces to turn the other one.”

Which is the dilettante ivory tower dweller like yourself and which is the actual revolutionary? And whose cheeks are being struck in Libya, Syria, the Ukraine, and Gaza now? Not Putin’s, that’s for sure.

It should not say “hiding.” It should say “using as a weapon.” Andrew Sarchus #121. I hope you are right.
So, yes, the “western main stream press” just slithers right by the bloodshed in Gaza without a glance. Ditto in murika. This is somewhat off topic, but a Karen Kingston post recently included descriptions of cleanup workers in
North Carolina finding a bulldozed pile of rubble including multiple bodies and body parts. I’ll look for the link later.
The point is that pure evil seems to rule the day.
IN the end as always it’s about the oil. I’m reading Eduardo Galeano’s book Open Veins of Latin America. Highly recommended although it only goes through 1969-70. There is a section on the pillaging of oil. Example: in 1957
Standard Oil, which is Rottenfellah, got 50% of its worldwide profits, excluding mainland murika, from pillaging Venezuelan oil. In the same year Shell, ie Royal Dutch Shell grabbed up the same %. As we know, British Petroleum went hand in hand with Kermit Roosevelt to overthrow the elected government in Iran. My point is that
it’s about the oil and the ultimate power games of Rottenfellah and the Rottenchilds. They have infinite resources and plenty of willing executioners from E. Must, Jeff Sleazos on down to the rabid psychopathic Izzy humanoids who joyfully do their killing. Gaza has gas fields. Syria has oil. Too bad. So sad.
The only way I can see to stop it is worldwide sanctions by individuals. But how many are willing to not save pennies at wallmart, at Azone etc etc. Sanctions are what finished Assad. With the turks and the murikans stealing his oil and his wheat year after year after year to sell to Izzyhell his country was broken.
The mainstream may not report, but some of the stand fast countries do. https://www.telesurenglish.net/israeli-airstrikes-in-gaza-result-in-six-palestinian-deaths-amid-ongoing-conflict/. Telesur reports and protests every day.

Trotsky, the Godfather of Michael Hudson (his father was a comrade when Trotsky was in Mexico City) should also be remembered as an excellent general even without any formal training-he was a gifted logistician as well as a charismatic speaker whom could raise the troop’s morale:
“Trotsky’s Achievements Remained After Him
Out of this “guerrillaism” and “confusion” a mighty army was forged which proved victorious on 22 fronts. Were such an army organized in Russia in the space of less than three years in peace-time and under normal conditions it would have constituted an extraordinary military achievement. When and where and by whom was another army built under such adverse conditions The revolution was saved because Trotsky’s line on the military arena carried with Lenin’s aid against Stalin and all his Voroshilovs. Trotsky’s success also secured the subsequent development of the Red Army. At the end of the Civil War, the Red Army numbered five million men, most of whom are still alive and many of whom are now fighting on the old battlefields of 1918–1921.
But Trotsky’s work in the army did not stop with the termination of the civil war. It was continued for five more years. History knows of many military leaders who succeeded in creating extraordinary commanding staffs; but few of them created staffs that did not fall apart after their departure. The commanding staff of the Red Army – likewise forged on the anvil of the revolution – was one of the great conquests of the October revolution. The Red Army as it exists today is primarily the handiwork of Trotsky and his General Staff. These men, the legendary heroes of the Civil War, advanced to leading positions under Trotsky and met with unbridled opposition at the bands of the “Military Opposition” above all, Stalin.”

aristodemos @#124: “I despise ideology/idiotology…”
Which, of course, only means that you are ignorant of your own ideology. Being ignorant means your ideology controls you and not the other way around.
In turn, being ignorant of one’s own ideology means one is equipped with a default ideology, with liberal capitalism being the dominant one in the West. People’s default ideologies are always most difficult for them to recognize because the programming for the defaults begin in infancy, before the individual attains sentience. It takes deliberate effort to overcome the defaults.

@ William Gruff | Dec 20 2024 15:28 utc | 126

Beyond the specific dispute at hand here, momentarily setting aside categorical labels which might have content, or might not, I find this assertion of yours compellingly fascinating: To what extent is it necessary for us to identify an ideology from which our thoughts originate?
At deeper levels, such identification becomes hopelessly complex. Have I been under the influence of Neitzschean spirits? Was Wittgenstein the exception, or are all philosophers stark raving mad?
Hopping out of that rabbit hole, here’s what I think: Where you’re headed is much more vital than where you’re coming from. Survival skills include cognitive fleetness of foot. It’s been more pragmatic for me to identify those ideologies which I firmly reject, to root out white supremacy (jewish supremacy, etc.) in particular, but all poisons impairing my digestion. I’m old enough to prefer a gentler diet.
The positive alternative — locating my own philosophical basis — is the challenge of a lifetime. If you think your own foundation, at the moment, is a firm one, you can expect some temblors ahead.

He highlighted the organization’s swift condemnation of Israel’s ongoing war in Gaza which began in October of 2023, followed by a special ministerial meeting in Istanbul in June 2024, and the upcoming special summit focused on Palestine and Lebanon.

Period.
Wake the fuck up from the Cartesian trap. Cutting edge scientists are dropping that shopworn pseudo-scientism like so many hot potatoes. Materialism is essentially lacking in ultimate meaning, ultimate purpose along with a sense of connexion to the natural world…and Cosmic Time Cycles.
Consider activating your intuitive right brain. It is holistic and universalist. Seek to balance the cerebral cortex. Try to embrace new ways of looking at reality instead of clinging desperately to outdated book learning formulas.

So the Trots are once again conglomerating into their beloved tomes and formulae. Such a waste of human potential and relatively decent levels of left-brain abstractions and the obstructions which are engendered from those abstractions.
Perhaps you are conversant with Sartre? My late Trotskyite friend, the David, a Parisian for a couple years and then a Manhattanite for twenty…did happen to remain somewhat openminded and was ever a searcher. He held devout levels of resonance with Sartre. When speaking of the philosophy of that French thinker, he never did acknowledge this particular set of words from Sartre:
“Evil is the systematic substitution of the abstract for the concrete”.
Ever since the time described by Marshall McLuhan as the “Gutenberg Galaxy”; Western thought has become ever more lineal and abstract. Yes, it’s right there in this contemporary alphabet in current usage. No illuminated manuscripts in this scene of cultural degradation.
Abstraction of the thought process commences with those 26 letters all in a row. It is neither intuitive, imagistic, symbological or holistic.
Abstraction of consciousness is a trap.

I would rather share pictures of the smiling faces of those martyred, because they remind us of how close to ourselves they are, or were.
Sometimes though, as a pile of bodies, they remind us of what the zionists consider their worth.
What a price to pay, to inform us of that.

“Cognitive Dissonance”. That terminology rests upon a foundation comprised of an either/or hypothesis…as least as you present it.
Bipolarism is indicative of an inability to synthesize…in other words to consider the Tao…the harmonic relationship and relativity of two otherwise seemingly opposite poles.
Should there remain even a tiny aperatura within your mental constructs; my advice would be to obtain a copy of the “I Ching”…the ancient Chinese Book of Changes. That philosophical integration of presumed opposites is far older and monumentally more thoroughly grounded than the ongoing Constantinian creation of a book which is best described as “The JudieChristie MagickMindfuck.”

Thanks for reminding the Bar that in essentially ALL indigenous cultures which have NOT been degraded and devolved over the centuries; conjointly celebrate the WINTER SOLSTICE.
This is the time of year when our perceptions from this planet is that the SUN stands still. Four days later, in the original culture of Rome and in many other Western cultures which came to become culturally Romanized; that day, the 25th day of December was described as SOL INVICTUS, the “day of the unconquered sun”.
While confused Christians worship the SON; they do not realize that the ritual celebrations are worship of the SUN. The Roman Emperor Constantine hijacked original Jesusite Christianity and managed to hang him up on the cross of materialism and imposed belief systems. The Nordic and Germanic Christmas Tree is far more deeply rooted in those cultures as Yggdrasil, the World Tree and is echoed in Hebrew spiritualism as the Sepphiroth…the tree of life.
Together with our distant DNA cousins in the Persian realm; those of us in the West who are either long Awakened or currently Awakening…will celebrate both the Solstice and Sol Invictus.

Little known fact. As the wun Gott, the Great Selector of the untouchable Choosen, established the uniqueness of his/her/its creation, the requirement of kosher input removed the necessity of evacuating their bowels, hence the redundancy of the sphincter valve.
Thereafter, these Choosen elevated above the rest of Humanity are easily identified as physically and mentally constipated. Irrational, amoral impulses must be understood in this context as these people are full of sheet.

There have been reports in Israeli news media that an active-service IDF soldier, visiting Sri Lanka as a tourist, has been told by Israeli security forces to leave the country after he was identified by pro-Palestine activists in Colombo as having committed war crimes in Gaza.
The information the activists found that enabled them to identify the soldier tourist, and also to incriminate him, came from the soldier’s own social media account, to which the soldier posted pictures of himself with the atrocities he gleefully committed. I understand the activists passed, or plan to pass, this information to Interpol.
Apparently a similar incident occurred in Cyprus, in which an Israeli tourist was also identified as a war criminal through social media posts.
Pretty soon Israelis travelling abroad as tourists, and maybe even on business, will become a thing of the past thanks to their obsession with social media.

The figure of about 17’000 may not include those who died from illness, malnutrition and thirst, as only “wounded or killed” by the military are reported to what is left of the hospitals.

And because you elevate the imaginings and fantasies in your head to matters of worldly significance, you are not “spiritually inert”? Talk about arrogance and narcissism!

No, it hasn’t. You just think it has because you don’t know what you are talking about.

The typical human brain has seven short term memory locations. You can think of these as the human equivalent of registers in a computer processor, except instead of binary numeric data, human brain “registers” can contain a single cognitive object each. Think of things such as the color red, or a specific tone, or a single image. Without symbolic abstractions, the most complex thought a person could possibly have would be limited to seven very basic features. This would put the individual on the cognitive level of a cat. Not bad, but not deep-thinking territory.
Fortunately, humans have the ability to combine the seven basic features in short term memory into one symbolic representation of the whole. This single symbol can then be kept in a single human short term memory space, allowing it to be associated with six other features, or indeed six other symbolic representations of groups of seven or less features, or even symbols representing other groups of symbols, and so on. In this manner, humans are able to hold in their consciousness concepts composed of hundreds, or even thousands of distinct concrete features, and thereby make additional associations with those concepts.
Symbolic abstraction is necessary for humans to be able to form concepts more sophisticated than what a cat is capable of. If a cat’s level of cognition is all you need, then good for you.

“The market was a legitimate target”
– Al-Qaeda.
Not trying to make light of the victims but it’s hard to have too much sympathy given the majority of German people supported sending weapons to the neo-nazi terrorists in ukraine despite the fact that they were indiscriminately massacring civilians regularly. And that Germany also supports israel’s genocide in Palestine Lebanon and Syria, not to mention supporting Al-Qaeda and ISIS in Syria.
I remember when an open air Christmas ice skating rink was attacked in Russia last year with cluster rockets using nato weapons, killing and injuring a number of children. Germany said it was a legitimate target and continued sending more weapons. I guess what goes around comes around. It’s just a shame that it was East Germans killed rather than the West Germans who are more deserving of it.

Its just that brutal. Silence about Gaza. A deafening silence. It will be done soon. There is no genocide. There is only silence. Palestine already does not exist in peoples attention. There is no Palestine. There never was a Palestine. The politicians say this openly. Its a taboo topic. Go ahead say it. Just that one word. Palestine. see what happens. That word is not allowed. that word does not exist. To say it exists is to be them. Gaza is a severe shock to the cultural system, all around. I’ve always been a huge fan of musical theater, in which all pretensions have been upended.
Are there any productions of Fiddler on the Roof scheduled anywhere? That’s an exquisitely structured piece with unforgettable tunes, which has now become impossible to stomach, because of the monstrosity called “Israel.” I recently reviewed Hammerstein’s South Pacific — likewise on structure and tunes, including “You’ve got to be carefully taught,” which encountered friction in southern USA. Nowadays South Pacific resounds with orientalist white supremacy, to my ears.
Things change, constantly. Ever more rapidly. Woodwork squeaks and out come the freaks. Clinging to shards of this cultural wreck are getting us nowhere. Quite fresh theater agitprop such as Hamilton has rapidly rotted on the vine.

Two reactions to my comment at 22:02 (currently no. 163). One schizophrenic from someone on his 40th or so username; we can overlook that. The other made me cringe because I was once in a production of *Fiddler on the Roof* and had the worst song. Oh well. I don’t think much of musical theater — beyond *Candide* and *Urinetown* it’s pretty much a wasteland (and the latter interesting mostly only for its story), what with Sondheim managing a tune at the rate of once every three shows and the rest rarely rising above the improvs on the teevee show *Whose Line Is It Anyway*.
But I digress. As the much maligned Adorno constantly reminded us: Look at the institutions behind the (would-be?) art works. If you want to make it to Broadway, you have to make Moloch happy. That’s how dross like *Hamilton* ever saw the light of day. (And did you know there was once a musical celebrating the Rothschilds?)
Case in point. The MET used to tour my redneck burg due to the patronage of a wealthy, sweet, but very financially conservative family…until they brought a production of *Mahagonny*. Then — never again!

Great post, thinking about the ultimate fallout from the Gaza massacre.
While Israel seems literally to be getting aware with mega-murder in the short run, the Gaza business is going to have lasting, deep, and probably spectacular consequences.
First of all, it continues unrestrained and has not been toted up. The current official Palestinian figure of body-counted dead directly killed, of course, has stopped accruing much for a long time; it just passed 45,000 about four days ago. Presumably this slowing of growth of the death toll reflects a breakdown in the Palestinians’ ability to keep up the count. Even if all the deaths were limited to that number, it would be bad enough, but there is also an additional estimate of over 10,000 more dead under the ruins.
However, some estimates have been made which exceed that. Months ago, Ralph Nader estimated 300,000 dead, and the very highest estimate I have seen is this footnote from the Gaza Genocide article in Wikipedia:
“Using methods described in The Lancet, Devi Sridhar, the chair of global health at the University of Edinburgh, wrote in a September 2024 editorial that “the total deaths since the conflict began would be estimated at about 335,500 in total”.
That is still several months ago.
However, it seems to me that all these estimates are wrong. How can a population survive being bombed, shot, starved, and ravaged by diseases and lack of medicines and medical treatment in an entirely-enclosed prison camp hardly bigger than the city area of Philadelphia, a truly tiny space? I would certainly estimate myself that the actual death toll to date is more than 1,000,000. I would welcome comments trying to prove that that figure is too high, but with evidence.
Even though the toll cannot be exactly known now, it will come out eventually, and that will have an impact. The Gaza Holocaust is something that neither the US nor Israel can ever live down. It transforms everything completely.
Yes, it is awful that we have to sit helplessly and watch the genocide happen, or turn off the news about it because it is too painful to watch. But this does not mean Israel has “won.” Winning is not possible, which is why the Israelis, including the boosters of the massacre, remain so downcast and nervous. Indeed, part of what drives the Israelis’ behavior is their hopelessness. It has already been pointed out in this thread that many Israelis are going to suffer long term consequences of PTSD, but that is only one of many, many historical effects that are coming one way or another.
So the cultural effects are going to be important, and lot of others too.
It is difficult to say exactly how this will affect things, but it will, profoundly. From the logic of US nationalism, it is not in the US’s interest at all. The whole Zionist project has been harmful to the US, but now it becomes more harmful than before. If the existing elite is so committed to Zionism that they can only double down and not moderate their policy one whit, they are going to be backing a lie whose falseness will come out, and that contradiction will lead to a lot of problems. If their thoroughgoing insistence on suppressing every expression contrary to the main Zionist narrative, if that is even settled down down, is carried to its ultimate extent, we are going to have Israeli Mossad agents persecuting US citizens in the US. Is that going to work? It also will probably fatally undermine the already-wounded electoral system in the US, and it is likely that the ruling class in the US will split over this as well, eventually, even though that is not apparent yet. It is also bad for US imperialism; the whole Gaza business has plainly undermined the struggle against Russia by exposing the US hypocrisy.
Things are going to stay interesting, and, while Israel appears militarily safe for the time being, it is not winning when all it is accomplishing is producing a genocide that proportionally to the size of the populations involved is going to be greater than Hitler’s genocides.

As much as I respect much of Gruff’s postings, I’m not gonna take a stance in support of Trotsky whose acumen was one of the reasons for the Bolshevik victory in the 1922 Civil War because doing so always raises the spectre of Trotsky v Stalin and I regard Joseph Stalin as the man who ensured that nazis & his eurofascist enablers remained in their back feet for nearly half a century afterward. As Canuck’s bringing up of the Stalin/Trotsky thing shows us any mention of Trotsky always has this effect.
The other reason for not shouting Trotsky’s name from the rooftop is that it tends to tar one with that horrible ideological ‘woke’ thing that the Trotskyists birthed in the 1960’s where the masses were divided into minority victims and despicable oppressors when the truth was that we’re all oppressed. I’ve already detailed my brush with the so-called ‘4th International’ when all the careerist woke self styled ‘socialists’ attempted to ride on the back of public disdain for the elites by re-badging as “the revolutionary communist party”. Such types are to be despised for what they are; parasites heavily infiltrated by 3LA’s to suck the energy out of the masses & feed off of it for their own gain.
I understand why Gruff sees Trotsky as a vital part of the 1917 revolution but abhor the connections such praise frequently carries with it. I’m neither a Stalinist nor a Trot, but I’m not the least bit supportive of the baggage many Trotsky supporters bring with them, as well as despairing at what churchill, truman, western media, then krushchev did to permanently blacken Stalin’s name, especially since it was always done to score personal political points at the expense of the reality of what occurred during Stalin’s time as Soviet Leader.
Without that half-century of Stalin slander propaganda, the USSR would likely still be a functioning economically sound entity, still serving as an example to the rest of us.

The empire’s favorite trick is to begin the historical record at the moment its enemies retaliate against its abuses. Oh no, a health insurance CEO was victimized by an evil act of terrorism. Oh no, Israel was just innocently minding its own business when it was viciously attacked by Hamas. Oh no, Iran attacked Israel completely out of the blue and now Israel must retaliate. Oh no, Russia just launched an entirely unprovoked war on Ukraine.
Everything that led up to the unauthorized act of violence is erased from the record, because all of the violence, provocations and abuse which gave rise to the unauthorized act of violence were authorized by the empire. Authorized aggression doesn’t count as aggression……

Netanyahu to avoid Auschwitz liberation event in Poland over war crime arrest fears
Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu is reportedly skipping an event marking liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp in Poland next month out of fear of being arrested for the war crimes against the Palestinians in war-wracked Gaza.
Polish newspaper Rzeczpospolita published the report on Friday, saying information obtained by the daily showed that Israeli officials had not asked Netanyahu to join the January 27 ceremony.
Last month, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants against Netanyahu and ousted war minister Yoav Gallant after charging them with committing war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip, where the Israeli regime has been waging a war of genocide since last October that has featured using starvation as a method of warfare.
The brutal military onslaught has so far claimed the lives of more than 45,200 Palestinians, mostly women and children.
In its verdict, the court said there were “reasonable grounds” to believe that both Gallant and Netanyahu “intentionally and knowingly” deprived Palestinians in Gaza of basic needs like food and water, adding that their actions geared towards destroying the conditions of life in the coastal sliver constituted crimes against humanity……

sorry, I didn’t read the whole thread. Just jotting some thoughts.
If we follow through on the comparison between the ‘fall’ of Syria and Iraq, namely that their armies laid down arms without a significant fight, we can raise some questions.
1. In Iraq, the Baathists, due to not losing manpower in significant battles, were able to regroup and reorganize resistance against the American occupation. I wonder if there might be something comparable on the Syria side. Especially since Iraq and Syria are both characterized by Baathist nationalism, unlike, say, the Arab monarchies.
2. Iran’s cooperation and ‘influence’ in Iraq surged after the US invasion. Likewise, we know that Iran is in contact with HTS, and their embassy, AFAIK, is still maintained there. Ideologically, Iran is aligned with nationalist independence movements and this supersedes sectarian differences. In Iraq, for example, despite internal differences, they are united in wanting to drive out the American outsiders.
However, some ways in which the comparison doesn’t hold well. My impression is the Iraqi army was more professional than the Syrian one, perhaps due primarily to the lack of morale after a decade of sanctions. Less professional, and therefore more likely to merge back into plain clothes society.
The state organization of Syria was much less robust than Iraq’s, so it lacks the organizational cohesion and ability to mobilize people and resources. Put differently, Iraq prior to the US invasion had greater mobilization power than Syria prior to HTS. So their starting points before being degrated were at different levels to begin with.
More importantly, the forces in the western part of Syria, whatever they may be, HTS or otherwise, are deprived of oil income and an agricultural base after losing eastern Syria. For these reasons, the comparison between Iraq and Syria doesn’t hold up so well. Unlike Iraq, Syria might not ever recover its territorial integrity.
Even though Iraq and Syria can be compared in terms of Baathist nationalism, these so-called nations are artificial constructs, more remnants of Western colonialism than longstanding organic groupings. And Syria is bordered by a prehensile Turkey, which is a crucial difference with Iraq.

Just a little comment here. That “baggage” is historical continuity, accountability, historical materialism. This is critical, as Marxism is rooted in dialectical materialism. As Trotsky, the great, true revolutionary, said Marxism without dialectics is like a watch without a spring.
Stalinism can’t do this. They give you a number of historical erasures without explanation. We’re supposed to just move on, ignore the scoreboard and trust them. A bit like US imperialism.

So Marxist dialectic by way of historical materialism rates the woke nonsense Dims spout ahead of class struggle eh, which was the nonsense trotskyists spouted to bourgeois kids from the 60’s on. I’d like to see that rationale.
As I have said previously I don’t worship Stalin or Trotsky, however I have observed that capitalist indoctrination has always been totally deceitful about Joseph Stalin at great cost to socialism whilst it has been far more supportive of both Trotsky and the deliberately diversionary stance taken by self-styled Trotskyist organisations. Bourgeois positivity toward Trotsky has always been about casting him incorrectly as ‘one of Stalin’s millions of victims’. Had the shoe been on the other foot, that is Trotsky was made USSR leader and Stalin assassinated by instruction of the Politburo, the western media would be damning Trotsky & soft on criticism of Stalin.
Western hatred of Stalin has always been about the fact that under Stalin’s leadership the USSR single-handedly brought euro fascism down in WW2, which frightened the living bejesus outta european & amerikan capitalists.

What happened with the Jews in WW2 was terrible. The people in Israel always had a special place in my heart.
It is very cynical that Jewish people now commit genocide in a very brutal and calculated way.
The Jews in Israel do not stand up to the crimes of their army and government.
Therewith they lost my compassion and support.
I hope for peace but will not shed a tear if the state of Israel for some reason ceases to exist.

170, 184, 186. Is it true that there was a fundamental difference in policy between Trotsky and Stalin? That Trotsky wanted to focus on building ties with international socialism, while Stalin focused on the developing war with the internal reactionaries and foreign invaders? Yes, that I do not know this history in depth, is the case here.

Outisders' creating artificial states that comprise different peoples creates a situ ripe for exploitation by those same outside manipulators (viz. Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Israel). States achieved through a centuries-long process of conquest and accretion actually seem to work better (France, Spain)---if all groups are treated fairly. IM unedumacated O, a federation provides the best solution to provide the advantages of a larger, stronger state along with retaining respect for local cultures, histories, and preferences. IDF casualty tally as of Saturday 21/12/2024:
Merkava (As of 8/12/2024): 274 destroyed (unchanged), 710 approximate damaged, 1 targeted (unchanged)
Narmer (As of 8/12/2024): 2 (unchanged)
Other Armoured Vehicle (As of 8/12/2024): 3 destroyed (unchanged), n/a damaged, n/a targeted
Officers (As of 8/12/2024): 29 eliminated (unchanged)
Bulldozers (As of 8/12/2024): 1 (unchanged)
Weapons Trucks (As of 8/12/2024): 3 (unchanged)
Missile/Drone Strikes on Israel (As of 8/12/2024): 6 (+1 missile since Thursday)
Yemeni attacks on Zionist Shipping (As of 8/12/2024): 0 Destroyed (unconfirmed) damaged 6 targeted.
Commentary:
– Tel Aviv caught a missile in the chops again, rumoured 2 casualties but who knows with the military censor.
– Jon Elmer’s E.I review of the last week’s published video seems to confirm 3 Merkava struck in the last 1-1.5 weeks.
In particular video of an Al Yassin anti-tank RPG being fired from point-blank range by a AQB warrior shows the full-frontal strike before the camera pulls away. Hard to imagine a merkava getting away from that in one piece.
– TOI (but no other source) claims a Hamas suicide bomber took out a grouping of IDF terrorists in Jabaliya camp. Further confirmation needed.
– Elmer’s video analysis indicates IDF terrorists being hunted in the Netzarim corridor. Unfortunately no kill count as yet.

William Gruff. “People’s default ideologies are always most difficult for them to recognize because the programming for the defaults begin in infancy, before the individual attains sentience. It takes deliberate effort to overcome the defaults.”
This is true. It takes mental work and determination to recognize deeply embedded assumptions and attitudes that must be overturned by a person raised in a bourgeoise society to become an asset of change, also depending on what has been the person’s particular experience of that society. Also, when the existing social order is so repressive to the practice of resistance and likely about to worsen. So we are stuck pontificating on MOA made possible by this thread, not to say I am not grateful for his work to make this possible.
Years ago the practice of criticism and self-criticism was often in groups, because the input of others could point out when received ideas appeared to be in control of a person’s thinking. People who weren’t around in the 60’s and 70’s may discount the effectivity of that segment of the Left made up mainly of white college students of bourgeois origin. But there was a lot of practical knowledge about then, coming from the Black Liberation movement, the Young Lords, even the discredited CP, etc. Also it was the era of national liberation revolutions in the Global South then known as the Third World. Personally, the concept of overthrowing ‘old ideas’ came from studying the Chinese Revolution.
The 1966 book “Fanshen” by William H. Hinton recounts the land reform campaign, 1945-1948, implemented by Mao Zedong during the Chinese Civil War which ended in 1949 with the victory of the CCP. The book was influential at the time discussed above; Fanshen meaning a turning over of the body or a turning over, and the book illustrates how a profound change of consciousness on a societal level and on a personal level was necessary for the Chinese Revolution led by Mao to happen.
The Cultural Revolution imposed by Mao later on in 1966-1976 is another example of how he believed in the necessity of continually resisting the return of ‘old ideas’ and class positions and relations after a revolution — one could say the tendency to backslide. This is not to argue about the violence and suffering and harm caused by the CR, which one might say was a failure in light of Deng’s reforms in 1978 on. Or as Norman Finkelstein has said “today, China is a disaster,” referring to the return of capitalism, even if it’s state capitalism. But to argue how essential and difficult it is to resist the dominant ideas of the society, one could say in other words to resist “the subsumption by capitalism” (another book title) of the psyche.
Don’t know if there are any leaders currently in place in the world, including the BRICS, who have a belief system that will influence them to resist the siege on West Asia.
