Merkel's Fear Of Putin's Dog Or How Propaganda Is Kept Alive
Last month the memoir of the former Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel was published. The occasion was used to warm up old propaganda stories:
Putin exploited my fear of dogs in his power games, says Angela Merkel - Telegraph, Nov 21 2024
Former German chancellor lifts the lid on her encounters with world leaders in memoir
bigger
Angela Merkel has accused Vladimir Putin of exploiting her fear of dogs as part of his “power games” during a meeting with her at his Black Sea resort. In extracts from her book Freiheit [Freedom], published by German newspaper Die Zeit, the former German chancellor said the encounter was typical of the Russian leader’s tactics.
Mrs Merkel was referring to their notorious meeting in Sochi in 2007, when Putin had Koni, his black labrador, enter the room – despite Mrs Merkel’s reported dislike of the animals.
Mrs Merkel, who is said to have been afraid of dogs since being bitten by one in 1995, wrote that Putin was “always on his guard to avoid being treated badly and always ready to dish it out, including power games with dogs and making others wait for him”.

One wonders why Merkel keeps lying about the dog episode with Putin. It had happened in 2007 when there were excellent relations between them.
In 2016 Putin claimed that he had apologized for it:
“I wanted to do something nice for her,” he told the newspaper, in an interview published Monday.“When I found out that she doesn’t like dogs, of course I apologized.”
Putin’s treatment of Merkel, in office for less than two years at the time, reportedly rankled the German press corps.
One wonders who in the German press corps was paid by whom to feel 'rankled' by this.
In August 2016 Merkel met with Italy's Prime Minister Matteo Renzi at Ferrari park in Maranello, Italy. The local police's rescue dog Leo, a black Labrador, was waiting to welcome her.
bigger
Merkel was so afraid that she did not mind to be licked ...
bigger
... and even shook hands with it.
bigger
How come I have yet to see any headlines about Merkel's dog fears in Italy?
Why did that incident not 'rankle the German press corps'?
I have not read Merkel's memoir but someone in the known assures me that it does not mention how Matteo Renzi's 'power games with dogs' influenced her relations with him.
This is just one of the small stories to keep in mind when the Mighty Wurlitzer plays its daily tunes for you.

She is feeding into the 'woe is me' culture that is now absolutely dominant in the West. She will still be referred to as a 'powerful' or 'insert-your-own-adjective-here' woman regardless.
The other barflies are much more knowledgeable than I am on this topic and I stand to be corrected, however, I doubt that Thatcher would have done the same.

German civilization is at least 2,500 years old and has produced so much value and innovation, including the discovery of quantum mechanics, one of the greatest leaps in history.
As recently as twenty years ago, Gerard Schroeder was providing valuable international leadership on Iraq.
But now the Germans produce leaders like Merkel, School, and Baerbock.
What happened?
Gonzalo Lira once argued, if I recall correctly, that the costs of casualties of war can be felt generations later. Perhaps they will never recover from the tremendous losses of 1914-1945.

You don't really believe that these Western elites are actually afraid of the Russians?
They're just pretending, knowing full well that it's desirable to express themselves like that today. These elites are deceitful to the core, they would stand in front of cameras tomorrow and claim that they're afraid of Father Frost (because he's the Russian Santa Claus), they would claim to be afraid of the moon if the mainstream expected it of them.
And Merkel... lies knowingly, as a trained agitator for socialist systems she was taught to lie or to follow what they hear or to follow the "truth" that is currently demanded in many hours of brainwashing and lying training, lying according to the situation and need.

If this happened in the US I'd say it was a "dog whistle" to the female identity team, something like, "see girls, he's a toxic male, mansplaining from the manosphere, just like your shitty ex boyfriend...so let's have a nuclear war..for, er, women's rights!"

There are dogs and dogs. This dog was a social and friendly labrador , also a rescue dog, and was considered by some as a 'humanizing prop' according to wikipedia. Even if you're afraid of dogs you should be able to see the context, that people do not expect you at all to be intimidated by that dog. Denying that context is a sign of bad faith.
The story feeds the idea of Putin as intimidating and very eager to dominate people, and is therefore very unpleasant to deal with in a diplomatic context. He may well be intimidating when he chooses to but supposing he would pick such instances to do so that dog really isn't a good choice.

Breaking news on RT
.
Russia's Ministry of Defense confirmed a new attack by the Ukrainian armed forces with long-range Western weapons on Wednesday evening. The corresponding message on Telegram said that on the morning of December 11, the regime in Kiev attacked a military airfield in Taganrog in the southern Russian Rostov region with Western high-precision weapons. It was determined that six US-made ATACMS ballistic missiles were used in the attack.
The agency also wrote that two missiles were fired by the Panzyr anti-aircraft missile system. The remaining four were diverted from the target using electronic warfare. Nevertheless, the ministry reported casualties among Russian military personnel, without specifying the number. Although there was no destruction, there was minor material damage. Two buildings and three military vehicles on the grounds of the military airport were damaged by shrapnel. Civilian vehicles in the adjacent parking lot were also damaged. The authority did not give the number either.
"This attack with long-range Western weapons will not go unanswered. Appropriate measures will be taken."
Early on Wednesday morning, the mayor of Taganrog, Svetlana Kambulova, informed residents via Telegram about a Ukrainian attack. She initially spoke of a drone attack and called on the population to seek shelter in basements or windowless rooms. Later, the governor of the Rostov region, Yuri Slyussar, announced that it had been a rocket attack.
More information soon...

Well, the weird part is Putin (allegedly) apologized, stating he didn’t know.
That would be absurd. He probably is informed of what his “guests” eat every morning for breakfast. How many other reps get greeted with dogs?
So, either she is lying about not liking dogs, or in fact, it was a move of intimidation by Putin.
Either way, she did at least confirm to the world the sinister & false “Minsk” garbage, so she did him a favor, which was then followed up on by Scholtz.
Since then, Lavrov has been able to mention the treacherous Western position for years at every opportunity. So, good on her.
I actually think her and Putin had a pretty good and longrelationship overall. So, not really buying any of this.

They want to stay relevant to the contemporary world such that 'lies' are a small price for these miscreants.
So instead of telling Putin that she's afraid of dogs and politely ask to remove from the room, Merkel held the grudges for decades to air in her book. Wow the immaturity took a totally new meaning now lol

The MSM tells us all the leaders of the world must be cut from the exact same cloth EXCEPT when they choose a bizaare something else like Jolane or nutty genocide or a play piano with popo. Then its diversity. A total rigid model of judgment except when they choose a headchopper then its diversity.
What matters is agreements that create cooperation for everyone's benefits. Respecting and abiding by those agreements. Respect for all traditions and cultures. affirmation of self evident human rights.

So they wanna "play" with long-range weapons targeting deep into Russia proper, eh? How would they like it if the R.U. responded with a purely kinetic LONGER-range hypersonic right up the ass of Diego Garcia...there "guarding" the Indian Ocean. Such a move would actually be a step down retaliatory move, as it would not target the precious "homeland".
Could be that higher councils in the R.U. are chewing over this possibility right now. Sooner or later, the Russians will lose patience, but not in a stoopid kinda way.

But her father was a priest, in East Germany, a pastor, her mother was from Silesia. She herself must have been 100% red, otherwise she would NEVER have become an FDJ secretary for agitation at A UNIVERSITY when she was studying! Her party had one thing in common with Honecker's SED...the anteroom of their chairman HONECKER. How, why, and wherefore she was brought in by Kohl (then Chancellor) - I have no idea. She was the most dangerous agent ever to be infiltrated into the federal government. The question is by WHO. I suspect that the USA laid this rotten egg in Kohl's government. Because there is one thing Merkel has ALWAYS DONE... faithfully followed orders from the USA. Anyone with a past like Merkel's must be vulnerable to blackmail. Kohl was certainly vulnerable to blackmail with his slush funds.

When Merkel was elected chancelor of Germany in 2005 I was well connected in the political consulting scene of Berlin and one senior manager of a political think tank in Berlin said: "Everybody in the political scene of Berlin knows that Merkel is living in a lesbian relationship with her chief of staff. Her marriage with her husband is only a cover up for the public". In the years after that I did not hear anything about that rumour anymore and thought probably there was nothing about it. In 2011 Wolfgang Herles published the novel "Die Dirigentin" about a female German chancelor living in a lesbian relationship with her chief of staff. But nothing else was heard in the media about this rumour again. Right after leaving office in 2021 Merkel divorced from her husband and now she writes her autobiography together with her former chief of staff Beate Baumann. I do not think it is interesting in which constellation Merkel is living her private relationships. But I think it is interesting how the whole media might have been forced for 16 years to create a fake world around Merkel. Not only about her private live (which is not interesting), but in keeping silent about this they also kept silent about many other political things around Merkel in order to protect her public image as "Mutti (mother)". The media created kind of a "reality distortion field" around Merkel.

Obama pulled a similar stunt at the Wuhan G20 summit when he exited from the rear of his plane. This was meant to show how uncultured and undiplomatic the Chinese were to treat him so badly.
As usual, Truth came out very soon.
Another big laugh during the event was a Secret Service agent trying to insist that the press corp on the president's plane walk with the president's entourage.
The Chinese security protocol officer refused for security reasons and the SS guy screamed at him that "this is the US way". The Chinese replied back in English that "this is China!". End of discussion.

Like Helmut Kohl: "Aged 15, on 20 April 1945, Kohl was sworn into the Hitler Youth by leader Artur Axmann at Berchtesgaden, just days before the end of the war, as membership was mandatory for all boys of his age. Kohl was also drafted for military service in 1945; he was not involved in any combat, a fact he later referred to as the "mercy of late birth"" (Wikipedia)

I remember this story circulating in Germany about 10 years ago, by media like Spiegel, Zeit etc.
The idea that Putin plays psycho games with the leader of a friendly country (2007! NordStream1 was just being built) is silly and reveals the mindset of those who made up the claim rather than Putin's one.
Merkel is clearly not afraid of the dog. And a last one: it strikes me that most German media say "Hund", not "Hündin", IMO deliberately, because everyone knows that in general female dogs are less aggressive than male.
Pure Putin demonization propaganda.

Merkel's fear of Putin's dog reminds me Monty Python's "witch scene" (Sir Lancelot refutes testimonies of villagers who wanted to burn a witch and proceeds with a fair trial: checking if she is lighter than a duck -- thus a witch, or not, and on the special scale of Sir Lancelot, she was indeed found lighter than a duck). A villager shouts "She turned me into a newt!" Sir Lancelot looks keenly... "It got better."

malenkwv #21. It's a bit off subject and yet very much on subject. In my experience dogs are not so trustworthy. Yes, I've had the five rabies shots following a street dog bite. Perhaps you are jesting. Anyway, here's another word you may or may not approve of: mendacious overfed blobette in a polyester pantsuit. Oops too many words. Putie likes cats, birds and especially horses so I tolerate his dog affliction. I'm sure he's pleased. Cheers.

"One wonders who in the German press corps was paid by whom to feel 'rankled' by this."
Exactly. What a load of twaddle!
If Ms Merkel knew she had an irrational fear of dogs there are people who can train her to put them in a rational perspective.
i.e. unfamiliar dogs should be treated with respect.

I can understand that, but I also understand they do it with a specific purpose.
In this case, I don't see what goal she may have had which such type of petty lie.
Is it to dehumanize, to manufacture consent ? Maybe but it's really far fetched. And also I don't see Merkel's own interest with that, once her career was well over.
On the other hand I saw something similar with François Hollande and Merkel BTW. They have publicly admitted they signed Minsk agreement in bad faith, and without the slightest intention to apply it.
I see also that as something they have said which can't be spun in a positive way.

Moreover, her purported fear of dogs would be known by her handlers who would notify her host’s staff in advance of such concerns to arrange for all the killer labs, hamsters and budgies to be kept caged out of sight..

Mr. Putin must have learned of Ms. Merkel’s phobia by listening in to her calls via the American back door on her Handy.
Where should the outrage be focused?

I have no doubt that Putin is distrustful of Germans when they are around him, after all they have attacked his country a few times.

Assuming you didn't pull that out of wherever the sun doesn't shine, it doesn't explain why Putin tried to reach out to Germany, particularly with gas sales (and he is even fluent in German). Or his relationship (if any) with Gerhard Schröder.

Ossi/1:
On the American Amazon, reviews are not blocked. As of the time of me making this comment, there were over 30 reviews, and rather negative (3 stars out of 5, and the scales is 1-5, not 0-5).
Most of the complaints were about the Merkel immigration actions and her failures to acknowledge a mistake. Other complaints were her self justification (it's actually more FUN to read an "I screwed up" story than to read a "I was right" defense), along with just the whole thing being long and dry and restricted to world events.

And Merkel... lies knowingly, as a trained agitator for socialist systems she was taught to lie or to follow what they hear or to follow the "truth" that is currently demanded in many hours of brainwashing and lying training, lying according to the situation and need.

Honestly, what a bitch!
Who wants to read anything that backstabber writes?
I recall when Merkel visited Sochi and Putin met her with the most beautiful bunch of flowers and he treated her as the gentleman HE IS. Prior to her betraying Vladdy over Minsk, they would send each other vodka on occasion.
I can't imagine how hurt he must have felt at all the betrayal, but it takes a real sociopath to PRETEND to like you, so that you won't suspect the major betrayal at hand and at the behest of your Zionist masters
Posted by: Kay | Dec 12 2024 2:44 utc | 90
Next thing you know, Angela Merkel will reveal she is allergic to flowers and pollen, and that Putin tried to undermine her by presenting her with bouquets of flowers every time they met.

Really…afraid of a black lab?
Sorry, any adult human that tries to claim they were manipulated with fear of a black lab is a pathetic loser.
These “democratic” “leaders” are nothing but sacks of shit scared of their own shadows.

Pilipili - To your comment about Merkel and Thatcher, Thatcher wouldn't have shook hands with the dog as Angela Fatso did in these photos- or pretended to be, and then lied about being, afraid of it, and then claimed victimhoodh in a hagiographic autobiograpy about a hag. She would have bitten it. (That's not to say that the dog shouldn't and wouldn't have bitten her back.)

MoA has been so depressing lately. Here's a British joke for you.
“Take the Barking* train” was the reply...(*Barking being being a destination at the eastern end of the Metropolitan Line.)

You would say this about someone who is completely mad, e.g political "journalist" and zio Melanie Phillips:
"Melanie Phillips is Dagenham"
"What?"
"She's beyond Barking".
[the London suburb of Dagenham is further on from Barking station].

speaking of german propaganda: on wdr (west german broadcasting) theres already a "documentary" out titled: "Die Assads: Wie eine Familie Syrien terrorisierte" (the assads, how a family was terrorising syria), with a picture on the thumbnail of bashar and asma and the text "the dictator and the first lady".

Angela Merkel followed a policy of unchecked illegal immigration into the EU, destroying the safety and peace of mind enjoyed by European women for centuries.
She's a monster. If Putin's cuddly lab made her uncomfortable for a few moments, I've got no sympathy for her. She's a monster.
She can look for sympathy in the dictionary. It's nestled somewhere between sh-hit and syphilis.
Europeans need to get up on their hind legs and reclaim their nations, if it's not too late. Holding an election in Romania next week would be a smart start. Allowing the parasite class to run roughshod over citizens is suicide.

Merkel is human garbage and a waste of skin. The worship of her in the western MSM is just another of the MSM's massive deceits. Merkel led the destruction of Germany and the emiseration of Europe for years. She will rot in hell.

Schroeder, Blair and Clinton.
Besides peddling the long forgotten ‘third way’ snake oil, these three were jointly responsible for NATO’s criminal attack on Yugoslavia.
It was necessary to protect the Muslim Kosovars from genocide, or so we were told at the time.
