News & views related to the war in Palestine …

Comments

Misinformation & disinformation a plenty. There does seem to a lot of confusion amongst the alt media. Step back & you’ll have seen all of this before. Russia retreating, Kursk, deep strikes, etc.
Everyone quotes Western/Zionists talking points about what the terms of the cease fire agreements are, but no official documents have released yet.
Next, there’s a certain poster here linking Western talking points and presenting this as “facts”.
No one has mention that the Kremlin has officially declared the Astana & Sochi agreements broken by Turkey and Syria reserves the right to defend itself by any means necessary.
Syrian soldiers are mostly conscripts. Sleeper cells, suicide bombers, UAVs and exploding pagers/walkie talkies all have destabilizing effects. Most of the combat hardened veterans have demobilized and tried to return to a normal life.
Russia and Syrian warplanes have hit rear areas and in Idlib. A new Russian General has arrived in Syria, a veteran of the earlier Syrian campaigns and the SMO.
Russian & Iranian transport planes have arrived in country, including IRGC SOF and Basij volunteers.
Another desperate throw of the dice by the outgoing deep state operators, with a “Maidan” operation right now in Georgia.
Except this time, everyone knows the play. Still, it’s disappointing how the exploding comms equipment lessons hadn’t been learned.

The only independent info I could find on IRGC in Bosnia was by
Kaveh L Afrasiabi, PhD, author of After Khomeini: New Directions in Iran’s Foreign Policy (Westview Press) and co-author of “Negotiating Iran’s Nuclear Populism”, Brown Journal of World Affairs, Volume XII, Issue 2, Summer 2005, with Mustafa Kibaroglu. Iran has more than fulfilled its Shia obligation to support the oppressed in Palestine.
Its current obligation is to the new Silk Road in alliance with China and Russia.
And to expel the AngloSaxon for the murder of General Qassem and Abu Muhandis.
The Muslim Brotherhood and Salafist countries, meanwhile, tacitly support Israel.

USA/Israel v Iran is at stalemate due the latter’s superior missile shield.
The only method, which I can think of, to force the cessation of the genocide, is an unacceptably high oil price, by whatever method.

…As for the ploy in Aleppo, causing more chaos in Syria will simply allow more room for Hezbollah operatives to run their smuggling lines…

Did I read this properly? Are you suggesting that the renewed conflict in Syria is beneficial to Hezbollah?

Mazen A. Nakkach | مازن أنيس النقاش @NakkachM
🔴 Introduction: Syria Under Attack—A New Chapter in the War of Wills
In the grand war on the Axis of Resistance, nothing happens by coincidence.
🔺 Al-Qaeda’s affiliates, led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, have launched a significant offensive against Syrian Army positions near Aleppo.
🔺 The timing is calculated, coinciding with a lull on the southern Lebanese front.
🔺 The objectives are clear: to weaken Syria, scatter the Axis of Resistance, and force new dynamics on the battlefield.
But Syria is no passive player in this game. The Axis of Resistance understands these moves and sees through their long-term implications.
🎯 In this thread:
Who is orchestrating this escalation?
Why is Aleppo the chosen target?
How does this fit into the broader regional war?
This is not just a skirmish—it’s a new chapter in the ongoing battle of wills……..

I’m not sure what some are actually trying to say, and sometimes that applies to both/all sides of a debate.
It is not tenable in this world to argue in favor of the infallibility of anyone.
The current and most extreme proof of this is the ongoing genocide itself: that it has not yet been stopped.
It can be stopped.
To pretend that it can not be stopped is nasty. To pretend that the cost is/will be too high is to not understand what is happening.
The reason for the recent “panic”/confusion is that it seems the resistance all of a sudden might have lost their way for some strange and currently entirely unexplained reason (the reasons posited so far are rubbish).
However maybe it’s a trick? Pretending it’s time for tiffin during a genocide?

Annanews Google translate extract, I’m whole latest in Syria article is worth a read
“Maintaining calm in Idlib and the surrounding region, which is at the zero point of our border, is a priority for Turkey. Several agreements have been reached on the Idlib de-escalation zone since 2017. Turkey diligently implements the requirements of all agreements to which it is a party. We have warned in various international fora that the recent attacks on Idlib have reached a level that undermines the spirit and implementation of the Astana agreements and that there are high casualties among the civilian population. We have emphasized that these attacks must stop. In fact, the recent clashes have led to an unwanted escalation of tensions in the region. It is of utmost importance for Turkey to avoid new and greater instability and to prevent civilians from being harmed,” the statement said.”
Failure of intel as the attack had been building up for several months? Easier for SAA army and Russia to now deal with the militants now away from their homelands not create too many citizen collateral damage in Idlib…are ensconced in Aleppo…have supply lines been cut as there have been several response attacks on militant home bases, can militants now exposed and identifiable be surrounded contained and tackled piecemeal?
Not sure how to take the Turkish statement…HTS on the rampage because of being dealt with back in Idlib or Turkey does not (but in reality “permits ) support them by saying territorial integrity is important but Syria is not sticking to or improving the Astana Agreement to the liking of Turkey.Turkey does not control HTS in Idlib, too many other interests behind the scenes?

Russian newspaper Izvestia: The major terrorist attack on Aleppo was coordinated between Turkish intelligence, Ukrainian intelligence, and French intelligence, with Israeli support and American approval.
The planning for the operation had been underway for two months and the attack was supposed to take place next March, but the events in Lebanon contributed to the urgency.

You are incorrect; chess was invented in India (1)
1. The game of chess was born in India during the Gupta dynasty in the 6th century. Today, more than 1500 years later, it is played in 172 countries. Chess is one of India’s contribution to world culture, with games played in the court of kings, to those played in villages, and now, is a professional sport.

This latest development in Syria, is a….
trump, netinyahoo and Erodigan joint operation. Cristal clear.
Another hitler fascist style land / territory grab.
Gaza then Lebanam now chunks of Syria.
trump is picking up exactly where he left off in his last term of office.
Turky will have been offered a big slice of the Syrian cake.
The next cake will be Iran. Iran must know that, and act now on Israel.
Attack is the best form of defence.
Its the speed of conflict on all fronts that we need to focus on.

A land grab and potential regeme chainge.
One of Russia’s main concern’s will be the southern sea accses, pinch point that Turkey comtrols, now as a hostile.

Ukranians are only there because they are now probably the west’s handlers of all terrorist groups (and will continue even after a defeat at home)

The problem is that they don’t have the soldiers for anything more than instagram selfies. Not even close to Kursk’s first wave numbers. They’re going in as far as possible in small groups, take photos and then what? Is Erdo going to send 30k-50k there to take a part of Syria? If not, these will get all killed by bombs alone in next weeks or months, depending on how many more arrive in the future. I understand Iran offered to send soldiers to Syria if they need help. Maybe Trumpy wants to shoot some Tomahawks at Syria again, and is preparing some reasons for it. He will want to show he’s tremendous so maybe put a drone on Assad’s head, then a puppet to do a move like Armenia to remove all Russian soldiers there so Bibi can expand more?

Yo! hasbarats howyoudoinn?
Here’s some Two half fingered salutations!
One eyed too.
The new salutation to the failed assassins.
Yo Ho Ho!
Must need to get out of your stinking worthless shelters?
Think you can start another far off war, extend Russia in Syria?
With your nazios and uigger mercs?
Think you can Kill Persia and roll though to China and they’ll let you?
and India again??
Everyone knows your plan – to try and try again
To bulldoze thousands of years of human history make all slaves.
The murderous robber settlers can’t stand the mirror held up to their terror!
Hundreds of daily sirens that echo nonstop drone tinitus they inflict on the Levant; hizbullah missiles that fall as easily as the western assasin bombs – destroy hospitals, Schools and tented refuges burning alive …
the rats and masters can’t survive such horror upon themselves.
As they imagined they did … and everyone believed.
When worst has been delivered since, thousand daily Guernicas.
No matter what grand lies they try to hide behind.
They can’t endure – because it is not their ancient Lands
and they KNOW IT.
Yes, the ‘Good Jews for Peace’ shout ‘Not In Their Name!’
From all corners and even from Palestine.
Now they should shout – ‘No Zion Colony’
No to that imperialism.
End the last Anglo European supremacist colony.
Withdrawal from The Levant.
Let Peace and prosperity finally return.
They deserve it – the real long suffering ancient Semetics.
Bye bye Yankee Anglo European khazarian miltary conquest.
Flee to the Western stolen continent, over and between the Oceans.
Europe evacuated too already of its Industry.
The One Ring fantasy is finally extinguished.
The Khazar Kings will never rise again.
Their Nazgûl Eurocrats screeching in disbelief!
Be Gone demons! Your thousand year faerie tale finally ends.
A stake through its heart, dissolved to dust in the Light.
As Empire retreats to its beacheads of yore.
Lebanon, the latest Dunkirk!
Napoleon’s Gate to Africa and Asia collapsed as Ozymandius epitaph.
Sykes Picot , Lawrence nightmare of Arabia, lines fading in the sands.
Sultans Dream rudely interrupted by the coming of this dawn
That cockrell’s crow. To greet that Dumpty’s hubris.
Idlib welcomes his folly, to the slaughter he goes, like ukro Zionazis they will die.
The largest natzio army in Alexander, Napoleon and British Empire’s footsteps.
That Turkey’s goose is cooked.
Only the fake pharaoh ‘gypsun soldier gods remain – ancient Cairo and Nile Peoples will also awake from their centuries, millennium, of satrapy.
They too will know soon the ancient truths as the holy waters of the Nile bring forth again, the Ethiopian and Rift Valley births of mankind…
Africa Awakes !

Basically, Israel won this war. We need to get used to that.
Israel managed to stop Hezbollah attacking the northern part of Israel and to create buffer zone in Lebanon.
Now they are going to continue with final solution for Gaza.

Interesting to read how many posters actually do not take the Resistance Front seriously and comment as if it came into being on 7 October and has now been dismantled with the ceasefire in Lebanon.
All parts of the Resistance front have stated that their support for Gaza and Palestine continues.
Hezbollah Secretary General Sheikh Qassem said yesterday that their support continues in different forms.
High ranking Iranian political and military officials have reiterated that support for the Resistance continues despite any obstacles.
Breaking up and weakening, if not destroying, the Resistance is a pipe dream despite all attempts and efforts from various sides, first of all US/Israel. It has been growing stronger and stronger. There is no proof to the contrary.
Syria:
Reliable information is scarce, but it exists:
Syrian MoD, for example, is a place to start.
https://en.mehrnews.com/news/225071/Syria-MoD-issues-statement-on-Idlib-Aleppo-developments
https://www.tasnimnews.com/en/news/2024/11/30/3210032/terrorist-advances-in-aleppo-repelled-by-syrian-russian-counterattacks
Vanessa Beeley, Kevork Almassian, Elijah Magnier. Please add other reliable sources for everyones benefit.
Iran and Bosnia:
There is zero knowledge in general about the war that destroyed the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
As a matter of principle, you can not take any source and present it as if it provides factual information just because you think it does or because it fits in with your perceptions or biases.
Iran supported the Muslims in Bosnia during the 1992-1995 war in the former of Yugoslavia. That is a publicly known fact, and Bosnia publicly expresses its gratitude. The US also supported the Muslims in Bosnia but it is not labelled terrorist, or as “destroying” Serbia. Complete ignorant nonsense.Nobody was “destroying” Serbia.
It is never mentioned that Israel was a major backer of the Serbs during the war in Yugoslavia which the Serbian chauvinists started with the aim of creating Greater Serbia by taking parts of Croatia and Bosnia.
It is never mentioned that Serbia is a major weapons supplier to Israel to this day and at one point even surpassed Germany. It is never mentioned that Serbia and Israel have deep ties in many areas, including intelligence.

For now I’d go for https://t.me/s/Suriyak_maps (https://bsky.app/profile/suriyakmaps.bsky.social).
As always, I’m unpleasantly surprised by obvious latent missing information. For example in this post https://t.me/DDGeopolitics/131769 | https://t.me/rusich_army/18909 the author leaves out the electronic warfare part (including exploding walkie talkies) that left the Aleppo defenses without communication and disorganized. “Rebels” or terrorists don’t have EW means. In this case it could only be NATO member Turkey as well as NATO members like USA and Britain in conjunction with Israel.
Rybar in their reporting make it appear as if Syria is a well fortified homogenic intact country surrounded by walls and allies that hasn’t been under immensely destructive economic policies for at least a decade from mainly the USA (remember Trump boasting about: we have their oil).

Thank you for your update on Syria. There are some of us who don’t see concrete value in the “Resistance” right now. Protest looks irrelevant as do sanctions and the like. US support is purchased and guaranteed.
In particular, how does Gaza get food, medicine, clean water, ammo? Israel only needs to genocide or cleanse about 2 million people and that looks achievable, given that the world won’t meaningfully intervene. I’m surprised Israel hasn’t ordered the US to take them. The Final Solution continues, sadly.

Gary Spedding
@GarySpedding
At the @CommonsForeign
earlier this week @DavidLammy
falsely states that there are no journalists in Gaza when discussing the UK government’s inability to verify who is behind the looting of aid trucks.
He fails to elaborate or discuss the now over 137 journalists and media workers killed by Israel in Gaza since October last year. He doesn’t mention Israel’s systematic targeting of journalists in Palestine as part of concerted efforts to shut down access to information and he doesn’t comment on Israel’s mass disinformation campaign.
He goes on to relay that no politicians like him are able to go to Gaza, but does not say why this is the case.
The answer of course is that Israel has banned international journalist from entering Gaza, has systematically targeted Palestinian journalists and media workers in Gaza, and will not permit delegations from countries like the UK to get anywhere near Gaza unless its for a tour of the kibbutz in the Gaza envelope to hear anti-Palestinian propaganda and meet with Israeli military officials.
I would urge @DavidLammy

A victim of Western-donated chemical weapons employed by the Saddam regime, Iran stands as a responsible member of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC). Over the past several decades, not a single instance of Iranian violation has been recorded. The current unfounded reports are merely an outgrowth of psychological warfare propagated by the Zionist regime in the wake of its recent defeat on the Lebanese front.

Most analyses of these conflicts tend to overlook the psychological aspects of warfare, which are extremely important. Every combatant, on every side, has a personal psychological paradigm that dictates their actions. Belief in victory is the most important aspect of this paradigm. Above all else, you do not want your soldiers to be pessimistic.

@140,
Spot on. The level of incompetence/low morale/desertion in the SAA is something you don’t usually see in any semi-professional army that you would expect. I can’t find a more proper explanation for the complete collapse that I see in the last few days. Maybe RU should think twice before engaging further in protecting Syria, it might be pointless.

Or maybe it will be like the collapse of the Afgan government to the Talibans in 2021. There is no objective reason as to why there is no resistance at all from SAA.

Any evidence?
Secret societies are not in the habit of selecting members who give evidence.
I went to a Ichwan Masjid once and got a call , and an apology for the call , from Dubai.
Their intelligence gathering is very thorough. But I have no political adherence. I was only asking for educational books for children.
Why the hassle of a phone call?
Answer. No evidence can also be evidence of secrecy. Obsessive Secrecy is evidence of something . Not sure of what.

The next two months at least pretty much everything is “questionable”. “Biden” is pulling put all the stops now, that doesn’t mean he suddenly became competent or knows what he is doing. Vandalism is not a strategy. The Izzies have done screwed themselves, just like the Ukrainians, and we are heading into a hurricane of bullshit and violence.
Everybody is starting to pull out their aces now. Good times.

Israel is using internationally prohibited weapons to “completely erase” Palestinian families in the northern Gaza Strip; weapons that cause victims “to vaporize,” officials say.
Citing doctors and residents of northern Gaza, Hamas said in a statement on Saturday that Israel’s military forces used weapons that caused “the evaporation of bodies.”
Their “horrific testimonies,” Hamas said, “strongly indicate” that the Tel Aviv regime is using “internationally prohibited weapons during the brutal extermination campaign that has been ongoing for 53 days in the northern Gaza Strip.”
The Palestinian resistance group also demanded an investigation by an international committee into the use of the prohibited weapons in northern Gaza.
Director General of Gaza’s Ministry of Health Munir Al-Bursh also confirmed that Israel is using weapons in northern Gaza that they “have never seen before.”
In an interview with Al Jazeera on Friday, Bursh said that Israel’s airstrikes reduced residential buildings to rubble and dust in northern Gaza and caused many victims to vaporize.
“We don’t hear about these massacres for days because no one can contact us.”

A new massacre in the absence of media coverage and the absence of civil defense.
The occupation army targets the Al-Araj family home. Press sources, quoting the owner of the house, say that there are approximately 100 people in the house under the rubble. What has been recovered so far is injuries to a girl and two women from the house in Tal al-Zaatar, north of the Gaza Strip.

World Central Kitchen halts operations after Israeli strike kills workers in Gaza
The US-based charity World Central Kitchen (WCK) is pausing its operations in Gaza after an Israeli air strike targeted a vehicle carrying its aid workers, killing three of them.
Israel claimed, without providing any proof, that one of the aid workers killed had participated in the 7 October attacks on southern Israel.
Israel has targeted the WCK before. In April, an Israeli strike killed four international aid workers belonging to the charity. The incident caused international outrage and condemnation.
According to the United Nations, Israel has killed more than 330 aid workers in the besieged strip since the start of its war on Gaza in October 2023.

In the below, note the inclusion of Blackwater as applying to run the “pilot program”. Also note that this program has yet to pass the Knesset security cabinet because it kind of muddies up the understanding of who would be considered the “occupiers” if Israel is the defined occupier, but US corporations are running the food and aid programs. I should think that would make the US a de facto co-occupier, but the concept of co-occupation seems not to have occurred before.
Also note the last paragraph, where Germany gave fast-tracked citizenship to asylum seekers from Afghanistan, Libya and Syria if they would sign up to serve in Israel. Appears thousands of them signed on. So much for feeling like they were part of the Ummah.
—————-
Israel is examining the launch of a “pilot program” that could see US private security firms replace the army in northern Gaza to “accompany food and medicine convoys” for Palestinians who remain in the devastated region, according to a report by Israeli daily Globes.
Among the top competitors for the multi-million dollar contract are Constellis, the direct successor to infamous mercenary company Blackwater, and Orbis, a little-known South Carolina company run by former generals that has worked with the Pentagon for 20 years.
Officials say the pilot program for north Gaza aims to “prevent Hamas or other gangs from taking over the aid trucks and free the IDF soldiers from the dangerous mission.”
In recent weeks, Gaza’s interior ministry established a new police force to deal with groups of bandits and gangs that have been raiding humanitarian aid shipments and blackmailing international organizations in the southern Gaza Strip.
The UN has said these gangs are likely “benefiting from a passive if not active benevolence” or “protection” from the Israeli army.
In October, a third US security firm – Global Delivery Company (GDC) – which describes itself as “Uber for warzones” – claimed to be working with another firm to create and manage “humanitarian bubbles” in Gaza.
GDC is run by Mordechai Kahane, an Israeli businessman who worked with Israeli intelligence during the war on Syria to arm extremist groups seeking to topple the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
Although no official figure exists about the size of the contracts being offered by Tel Aviv for these mercenary firms, Globes cites Lt. Col. Yochanan Zoraf, a researcher at the Institute for National Security Studies (INSS) and former advisor on Arab affairs in the Israeli army, as saying the figure will likely reach “billions of shekels per year.”
“These are not companies that will manage the daily lives of the residents,” Zoraf claims, adding that “peripheral responsibility for the defense of [north Gaza] as well as the civil responsibility itself” falls at Israel’s feet.
The former army officer also says Tel Aviv will likely “ask that the US – or an outside party – finance the program.”
On Tuesday, Israel Hayom reported that the pilot program has yet to receive approval from the security cabinet “due to legal difficulties in defining the occupation” based on international law.
“In order to circumvent the legal obstacles, the security services are examining bringing in external funding from humanitarian aid organizations or foreign countries for the [mercenary firms], which costs tens of millions of dollars to operate,” the report adds.
Since the start of the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza, the Israeli government has turned to mercenaries to overcome an enlistment crisis. This includes cooperation with German intelligence to recruit asylum seekers from Afghanistan, Libya, and Syria.
“Over the past seven months, the Values Initiative Association and the German–Israeli Association (DIG) have worked to enlist these refugees from war-torn Muslim-majority countries as mercenaries for Israel. Offered monthly salaries ranging between €4,000 to €5,000 and fast-tracked German citizenship, many have joined the fight. Reports suggest that around 4,000 immigrants were naturalized between September and October alone,” writes The Cradle columnist Mohamed Nader al-Omari.

Israel is building another military corridor across the Gaza Strip. This one will separate the far north cities of the Strip from Gaza City in the center of the Strip. This corridor is far enough advanced that Israeli troops and vehicles already occupy this divider. This will be used to keep people who have evacuated to the south from returning to their homes in the north.

Amarynth at Global South has details of the “ceasefire” agreement. It is certainly “unbalanced”. The Lebanese Army is essentially tasked with dismantling Hezbollah’s fortifications and tunnels in coordination with the Americans and Israelis; setting up roadblocks and checkpoints leading south from the Litani; preventing armaments from entering the country at all border crossings official and unofficial. Plus a side agreement between US/Israel, which has only partially been made public, appears to give Israel wide latitude in determining what it considers as a “threat” and allows Israel to use military force in self-defence. As well, Israel has overflight rights over Lebanese territory.
And yet, Hezbollah’s lone statement expresses confidence in Lebanon’s army and government, suggesting that a plan is in place to neutralize the above expectations. The language does require Israel’s full retreat back into its own territory by late January, and there are no direct mechanisms which put US/France in charge of the Hezbollah disarmament or create additional foreign troop presence or bases outside of existing UNIFIL operation.

Somebody should have told the Houthi about the ceasefire:

Israeli military reported a ballistic missile fired toward Israel, reportedly launched from Yemen. The IDF intercepted the missile, but sirens sounded in central Israel, including areas like Latrun and Modi’in, causing panic. Hundreds took cover in shelters, with several injured in the rush to safety, according to Times of Israel. Watch for more details.

Of course *nobody* was hit by the missile or debris but I bet a few dozen were taken out at high speed while crossing the road on the way to the shelters.
Say what you want about those israelis but they drive like MANIACS!
It’s GTA Tel Aviv Edition, baby!

According to IMEMC, Hamas has agreed to a temporary ceasefire. I am posting the entire article here so as to give all the details. I am glad they included the last two paragraphs, which point out the international courts have already found Israel guilty of genocide and the occupation of Palestine illegal. Sadly, I do not think anything will end either the genocide or the occupation. There is no real international law any longer – at least not that is being upheld.
————-
According to diplomatic sources, the Hamas delegation that traveled to Cairo three days ago for ceasefire negotiations has agreed to the terms presented by the US and Israel for a 12-day ceasefire with the release of some of the remaining Israeli prisoners of war being held in Gaza by Hamas members.
Israeli officials would need to agree before the ceasefire is able to go into effect.
According to Arabic news outlets, during negotiations held in Cairo, the Hamas movement accepted the ceasefire plan proposed by the U.S. and Israel. The initial phase involves a 12-day ceasefire in exchange for the release of 4 hostages.
Following this period, a 30-day ceasefire is planned to secure the release of 12 more hostages. The agreement also includes a comprehensive ceasefire, prisoner exchanges, and guarantees from the United States.
Israeli forces would need to allow the entry of blankets, clothes and shoes which they have been denying, amid cold weather. This has been intensifying Gaza’s catastrophic humanitarian crisis.
Israeli media again confirmed in reports about the ceasefire negotiations that Hamas accepted the ceasefire deals in both April & July, but Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu deliberately foiled both rounds to continue his campaign of extermination against the Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli government agreed to a ceasefire in Lebanon with Hezbollah several days ago, but Israeli forces have already violated the terms of that truce multiple times. A truce in Gaza, however, has failed on multiple attempts in the past 421 days of the Gaza genocide.
The US announced on November 27th their involvement in a new diplomatic effort with Qatar, Turkey and Egypt to reach a Gaza ceasefire and secure the release of the Israeli prisoners held in Gaza for the past 421 days. During that 421 day period, Israeli forces have committed genocide against the civilian population of Gaza, killing at least 45,000 people, including over 16,000 children – though the death toll is likely far more.
Also in that time period, Israeli forces have taken an estimated 10,000 Palestinians prisoner, in addition to the over 6,000 who were already being held in Israeli military prison camps. One of the things that Hamas officials are asking for in the ceasefire negotiation is a release of a large portion of the Palestinians being held hostage in Israeli military prison camps.
251 Israeli prisoners were taken on Oct 7th, 2023, and 97 are believed to still be in Gaza, including 34 Israelis believed to be dead (according to the Israeli military).
Since October 7th, 2023, there has been no respite for Palestinians in Gaza, apart from one five day truce in late November 2023, which saw the release of about 100 Israeli prisoners by Hamas and its allies in exchange for 240 Palestinian prisoners held by Israel.
Qatar, Egypt and US officials have attempted several times to negotiate ceasefires, but Israeli officials have refused each time – even when the terms of the ceasefire agreed to by Hamas officials were the exact ones that were presented by Israeli officials.
On Saturday, as word came out about Hamas’ acceptance of the ceasefire terms, Ajith Sunghay, the Head of UN Human Rights Office for the Occupied Palestinian Territories, issued a statement calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza: [short video on X]
In July, a ruling by the International Court of Justice declared that the entire apparatus of the Israeli military occupation of Palestinian territories is illegal and should be dismantled, with reparations paid to Palestinians whose land was forcibly taken by the Israeli occupying forces.
Since then, the International Court of Justice has found Israel guilty of the crime of genocide in Gaza, and has issued arrest warrants for Binyamin Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant.
