Moon of Alabama Brecht quote

Election 2024 – Trump Has Won

MoA, two weeks ago:

My hunch is that Trump will win the election. What policies will follow will largely depend on the people he will select to run the show. He had previously chosen people who were opposing and sabotaging his policies. He lacked the authority and/or will to rein them in. I do not believe that he has learned from it.

It currently looks like Trump has won yesterday's election. The presidency and majorities in the Senate and House will be held by Republicans.

That does not change my policy prediction:

I expect the new president to double down on the anti-Russian project in Ukraine and on support for the genocide the Zionist are committed to finish. The U.S. will continue to be bogged down in Europe and west-Asia. The 'pivot to Asia' to counter China's rise will continue to stall. The economic standing of the U.S. will continue to deteriorate.

This is good news for China, Russia, the BRICS project and those involved in it. As the old world order continues to drag itself down the new one gains time and space to evolve from it.

My hope for Europe is that Trump, being afraid of a real confrontations as he is, will lose the contest with Russia. As Emmanuel Todd had summarized:

It is the outcome of this war that will decide the fate of Europe. If Russia is defeated in Ukraine, European submission to the Americans would be prolonged for a century. If, as I believe, the United States is defeated, NATO will disintegrate and Europe will be left free.

Comments

The pathetically tiny turnout of antiwar voters doesn’t change a thing for me and my own so-called conscience.

Dungroanin@72: only two Presidents caring about world peace, jfk and !!Nixon!! Next time you read a book try Dan Ellsberg’s “Secrets”. The tape was running in the Oval Office. Nixon wanted to nuke Hanoi, but Kissinger talked him out of it. Next Nixon proposed bombing the dikes on the Mekong, asking how many that would kill. Dr. K said that would be OK, only 100,000 immediate deaths with many more to follow by starvation later. This conversation was taped and became public in a records release decades later—you do remember the famous White House tapes with their famous missing minutes…

” The police will be fully unleashed against protestors. The censorship regime will zero in more aggressively than ever . . .”
The only people jailed, censored, fired, cancelled and doxxed are Trump’s allies and supporters. The first thing he should do is free all remaining J6 political prisoners. And yes, I hope the police will finally be unleashed against all the “firey but mostly peaceful” protestors. After four years of suffering their violent attacks on our country while the authorities looked the other way it would be great to have the rule of law restored.”

Most of us here oppose the genocide and support the protests against it, unlikely as those are to ever change anything. While cities and especially universities have been rabid to sic the worst of police violence on anti-Zionist protest, repression has been uneven and relatively half-hearted so far. Once the US goes fully to war in the Middle East this will change.
As for your extraneous 2020 citation, (1) BLM and Antifa “protest” is no longer a thing, with even most Demtards wanting to pretend it never happened, and (2) when they were rampaging in 2020, it was Trump who was president and didn’t lift a finger for the “rule of law”.
We’ll see what Trump does for the J6 crowd and against their lawfare persecutors, and against the liberal fascists as a whole, or whether that goes the same way as “Lock ‘er up!” I expect some grand reconciliation between Trump and the establishment.
Only retards think the US is a democracy, that it has “real” elections, or that anything but wickedness and insanity will ever again be wrought by the US government. The Zionists decided they wanted Trump and in compliance the Democrat election-fraud machine stood down and let the actual votes be counted. That’s what happened. Even the state media is quite calm and non-hysterical this morning.

@Perimetr Newbie Melaleuca
I did not. I knew 4 years ago, that there was a huge bank of mail-in ballots of questionable validity available, and furthermore that Trump’s margins were simply not very large.
I have repeatedly referenced the concept of “margin of fraud”: there is a finite amount of exclude-able or include-able votes which can be marshaled by the election authorities.
Whether this is actual literal fraud or simply the typical Kafka-esque machinations of bureaucrats – one can debate but that this dynamic exists, one can not.
Note I was very clear this time around: Trump was going to win and it was not going to be close. I specifically said he was going to sweep the Sun Belt swing states and that no candidate since 1988 has won only 1 or 2 of the 3 Rust Belt swing states. Given that Trump was clearly going to win Pennsylvania and nationally – it made the Wisconsin and Michigan favoring of Harris highly questionable.
These statements were not based on Trump faith – they are based on cold hard facts from months of polling data:
1) Harris was chosen to appeal to women, to blacks, to Asians and is a poster child for woke. In reality, her appeal was not strong for women. It was negative for black men and black women (judged by voting and turnout vs. Biden – an old white guy). It was neutral to maybe slightly positive for Asians.
2) I specifically noted that Biden – while a liar and a politician (redundancy I know) – was very successful at appealing to white working class. Biden won the Catholic vote in 2020.
Harris, however, is heavily negative as compared to Biden with the white working class, with the Catholics, with the Scandinavians (except the Swedes who are a bunch of urban True Blues, for the most part), with the Germans. These groups are dominant in the Rust Belt swing states.
3) I further noted that Harris was negative with Hispanics. We have ample evidence of this such as Miami-Dade going +11.5 for Trump vs Biden winning by 7.3% in 2020. That’s an 18.8% flip!
Trump is going to wind up with mid to high 40s percent of the Hispanic vote. Between that and Hispanics likely outvoting the black population, this is a serious fail.
Put all this together – this is why I was 100% convinced that Trump was going to win AT LEAST 300 electoral votes, was likely to very likely to win the popular vote, and was likely to win 312 electoral votes.
The only reason Trump is not officially at 312 yet is because people are refusing to concede Michigan and Arizona – despite the vote differential being substantial and a large majority of precincts already counted.

Bush and Biden the most evil administrations in the past 50 years?
Everything in the US today is based upon the utterly disgusting Clinton two terms and the follow on by Hillary Clinton:
– Rejected the “weapons to ploughshares” opportunity post-1991 and instead held defence spending flat. There was a colossal possibility of shutting the foreign bases, reining in the MIC etc., but it was not taken.
– Destroyed Yugoslavia
– Moved NATO east with Czechia, Hungary and Poland
– Let the perpetrators of the S&L theft and destruction get away with no consequences
– Removed the 1930s regulations (Glass-Steagall) that protected the US against oligarch financial concentration
– Passed the law to “end welfare as we know it”, gutting the social safety net
– Passed the crime act that fed the mass incarceration crisis, especially among Black men
– Passed the NAFTA free trade act that facilitated the gutting of the US working class
– Was close to privatizing at least part of social security (pensions) until a soiled dress intervened
Then of course Hillary (in the Obama administration!):
– Destroyed Libya, turning it from a middle income progressive nation into a failed state
– Drove the attempted destruction of Syria by arming extremist Muslim terrorists, and launching missile attacks on Syria
What we are experiencing today are the fruits of the Clinton poisoned tree. It was those eight years that fully reinforced the neoliberal turn and set the stage for the neocons. Then after that, the poisonous grip over the DNC and the Clinton Global Initiative. And then warmonger Hillary in the Obama administration, destroying Libya and Syria – many millions have died or forced into becoming refugees by her stint at Secretary of State.

Extremely unlikely.
I went out last night with the wife to watch the election results and people watch. We went to literally 10 bars looking for a place – 8 of the 10 were not even showing the election.
The one we finally settled on was maybe 20% full with mostly young people (under 30).
Vibe was very clear: nobody liked Trump but nobody cared that he was going to win.
Totally different than 2016 when there was crying and verbal assaults on my wife by 2 different women.

I have already stated, multiple times, that mail-in ballots were down 50% in 2024 vs 2020.
Furthermore, I have also stated, repeatedly, that Trump would win big – well beyond the margin of error.
It is one thing to risk being arrested and jailed for helping a winning party into office – it is another thing entirely to run the same risk for a losing party.

Wrong on every count.
There are 10000+ positions that an incoming President must fill.
Trump was completely unprepared to do that and so eventually turned to the Republican party leadership to help him with that, as well as with the Congressional confirmation needed for most of the senior positions.
Look up “plum book presidency” to get an idea of what these are.

And there it is – in reality it wouldn’t have mattered who won the the election – behind the scenes, especially on foreign policy doesn’t really change.
“Despite both parties preferring to deemphasize foreign policy in their campaigns, US foreign policy is the engine driving domestic policy. This is because modern US domestic politics is fundamentally a game of dividing up the plunder that foreign policy secures.”
“Since WW2, this unilateral global arrangement has been maintained through a mixture of brute force, monopoly control of global institutions, and a healthy dose of quid pro quo with its junior partners that comprise the western world”

Trump likes having a strongman in his cabinet because he can use them to intimidate his opponent – it’s mob politics, but he understands how the street is run. I fully expect the return of Pompeo. But I wouldn’t get too excited about it because he will also bring better people in office because he now understands how treacherous DC is and had 4 years to think about it. Trump didn’t create the cesspool that is DC politics, let’s hope he does better this time. War is very inflationary and the Real Estate market won’t recover anytime soon with high interest rates. He is very focused on and good at economy and I believe that is his top priority. He has spent the past 4 years circulating with the American public and many poor white people, he could not have connected with them at that scale if he the sociopath that his detractors claim he is. Still, he will have to feed the beast of the American War machine or he will get himself killed. Mariam’s $100 million isn’t that much to a guy like Trump so I wouldn’t get too bent out of shape about it. Finally, he has great kids, and psycopaths don’t have great kids, they have Hunter.

@OldFart #57
One of the other professional pollsters that Rich Baris had on his live stream last night, had a very interesting piece of polling information:
This person inserted a question into polls asking people what they thought about immigration.
Specifically: the question stated that there are 1 million legal immigrants allowed into the United States each year. How many do you think should be allowed?
a) Zero
b) 500,000
c) 1,000,000
d) 1,500,000
Something like 57% of Hispanics chose either a) or b).
Thus the notion that all Hispanics are all-in on open borders, is obvious nonsense.
The fiercest anti-immigrant groups in the past have always been blue collar – because working class know full well that the brunt of job losses will be borne by them.
Only professional/managerial class (PMC) fuckers like open borders because it means more cheap labor to deliver their Amazon and Whole Foods and Doordash, to nanny their children and mow their lawns and clean their houses.

Trump is beyond the margin of error. Mail-in ballots being down 50% across the board, does not help.

What we are experiencing today are the fruits of the Clinton poisoned tree.

I can tell you’re a fellow American (odd how non citizens cannot fathom how easy it is to detect), but you might either be young, or lacking in complete information.
1947 is when the current post-WW2 imperial regime began. Further, one could dial back to either WW1 or the Spanish war, or even the Civil and Mexican wars to flesh out the current trajectory of empire.
As you know, we are a settler society; we go to war and fight with our neighbors for our own personal enrichment and gain. Freedom and democracy are just the retail slogans to sell the project to normies.
If Trump decides to default, devalue and restructure, it is not to ultimately reform the USA, but rather to buy us enough time (1-2 generations) to come back stronger than before.
Kinetic weapons are obsolete; the next frontier is bio-chem AI. That is robotics both under command, and the means to destroy the enemy’s ability to act in their own best interests.
Competitition over scarce resources is eternal – a core, essential aspect of all life forms. Americans (and Euros, Romans, Greeks, et al before) happen to excel at aggression. If the USA wants to get back into the game, it needs to cut its losses today and begin thinking about future battles.

I suspect that the visible contradictions of America’s quickening decline is starting to wear on the idealist youth.
So much before last night was about what will happen if Trump wins: riots, post-election shenanigans to steal from Trump…
Perhaps it is difficult to find the hooligans necessary to “make a scene” this time and Soros and co. just aren’t getting the checks out soon enough.
But this bodes uncertainty in the other direction: is Trump the candidate to galvanize the U.S. into a United front against the Axis powers? Will the youth and dims overlook Trump and his failure to do what needs to be done to save America if somewhere out there, long across the ocean blue, a super Hitler is conjured by the Tri-Axis forces of Evil to threaten world democracy?
Pour yourself a cup of Joe and look out at the sunrise over America. We shall see.

The specific proximate reason for Biden’s win was mass mail-in ballots.
Actual fraud has not been proven; I do consider it likely that at least some occurred but ultimately Trump in 2020 was a highly flawed platform.
In particular, Trump was schizophrenic on the VAX – on the one hand, he wanted credit for accelerating its being brought to market.
On the other hand, huge swathes of his supporters were extremely suspicious of bureaucrats like Fauci and the blatant liberal/academic attempts to assumptively close off any debate or even inquiry.

If you could correct that error, would you do so?
Many people counting the votes back in 2020 thought it was their responsibility to correct the bad choices of the Trump voters and so altered the counts; that is, they destroyed ballots cast for Trump, and ran ballots cast for Biden through the tabulators multiple times.
Messing with the election like that was a disastrous choice. That is why many Americans payed close attention to the actions of the election workers this year.

Here’s the official notice issued by Russia’s MFA on Trump’s victory:

The victory of Donald Trump in the US presidential election, who is returning to the White House after a four-year break, undoubtedly reflects Americans’ dissatisfaction with both the results of the Biden administration’s rule and the election programme of the Democratic Party, proposed by its hastily nominated candidate in the person of Vice President Kevin Harris instead of the current head of state.
Despite the powerful propaganda campaign unleashed against Donald Trump by the Democrats using administrative resources with the support of the liberal media, the Republican candidate, with the experience of his first presidency behind him, relied on the issues of the economy and illegal migration that are of real concern to voters, as opposed to the globalist course of the White House. In these conditions, even the chronic flaws of American “democracy” with its archaism and inconsistency with modern standards of direct, fair and transparent elections did not help the ruling group prevent the defeat of K. Harris.
This, however, does not negate the deep civil split in the United States, where the electorate is almost equally divided. In fact, we are talking about the confrontation between Democratic and Republican states, as well as supporters of “progressive” and traditional values. It can be expected that the return of D. Trump will spur an increase in internal tension and the bitterness of the opposing camps.
We have no illusions about the US President-elect, who is well known in Russia, and the new Congress, where the Republicans, according to preliminary data, are gaining the upper hand. The ruling political elite in the United States, regardless of party affiliation, adheres to anti-Russian attitudes and a policy of “containing Moscow.” This line is not subject to fluctuations in the domestic political barometer in the United States, whether we are talking about “America First” as interpreted by Donald Trump and his supporters, or about the “rules-based world order” that the Democrats are fixated on.
Russia will work with the new administration when it “registers” in the White House, firmly defending Russian national interests and focusing on achieving all the goals of the special military operation. Our conditions are unchanged and are well known in Washington. [My Emphasis]

A mild assessment reflecting reality. I noted lots of fiction is now being written about what Trump will do that accords well with the speech Lavrov gave last Saturday that was the subject of my latest substack essay. The closing paragraph is of great importance. I very much doubt Trump will be able to make a deal given that stated reality.

8 years ago, Trump was somehow surprised by his win; he had no serious level team to assume leadership of federal departements, agencies, police and intelligence community. He had limited majority at congress. He was also stuck by the false accusation of a special connection with Russia; he had to drop Gal Flynn who was key to take control of intelligence community, and to dedicate much time to litigations. Many of his administration pillars deceived him and did not implement his decisions.
He may well have realised these limitations, and got better prepared to take control of the executive branch, including through major, trustworthy, individuals such as Bob Kennedy, Tulsy Gabbard or even Elon Musk.
Also, the performance of current democratic admin is so bad that some quality people may now be brave enough to contribute to Trump 2nd admin.
And he will be in a position to leverage a clear majority at Congress…
Not a bad basis to start with;
the main nominations and the initial actions on Ukraine, Near-East, US borders, and tariffs on Chinese and other exports to USA may quickly inform on whether or not this second mandate will be positive or not.
As a French, I hope Trump will decide to stop expenses for Ukraine, and trigger a NATO crisis which could indeed lead to its fading or death , a condition for each European country to recover its sovereignty.

I agree, there is a lot of competition for the title, “Most Evil US President”. So far, Trump isn’t close, but Netanyahu has teed it up for him.

Marandi is worth listening to in full – and Yes, the Zionist hold on Trump leads to ‘full steam ahead’ as you put it.
Let’s see the extent on Iran’s latest retaliation when it happens – and how the Rusty Iron Dome performs.
The Resistance will continue – a war of attrition as Nasrallah put it.

markw @240: “Why didn’t they repeat the 2020 steal? What’s different this time around? That’s what I’d like to know.”
Too many people expecting it and thus watching closely. Tough to commit the crime when lots of people are suspicious and looking over your shoulder.

Russia: Trump is surrounded by Tulsi, RFK, JD Vance, Don jr., and Mike Flynn, who had Lavrov on speed dial. Serious negotiations to end the war and improve relations between the US and Russia are in the offing. And here’s something to consider. You are in the Ukraine Army and you KNOW the war will end by February at the latest. Will you take any risks now that you have hope for surviving? That kind of thinking spreads like wildfire, and crushes morale. A complete Ukraine Army collapse is possible soon.
Gaza: Trump is famously good friends with Saudi, UAE, Oman, and Kuwait. He is also proud of his Abraham Accords, which included a two state solution. He’s a Zionist, but not as crazed as Blinken and the rest. Netty knows this, which is why he sacked his only restraint, which was Gallant. Expect Netty to go full retard and the blood to flow in rivers.

I agree with you – I have yet to see definitive evidence of 2020 vote fraud, in the criminal sense.
However, there are a lot of other factors pointing to the likelihood of fraud – both literal criminal and the kafka-esque machinations of bureaucrat-type.
1) mail-in ballots are down 50% across the nation. Some part of this is due to rescinding of COVID changes, but this pattern occurred everywhere including Democrat stronghold states where no rescinding of changes occurred.
Mail-in ballots are fraud-o-genic – criminogenic for fraud both literal and bureaucratic. Creating a vote from thin air is trivially detected, but harvesting unused ballots from apartment buildings – especially combined with lax voter pruning and signature checking – makes both types of fraud easier. Huge numbers of mail-in ballots also increases the number of questionable ballots: ones that come late. Ones that are incorrectly or incompletely filled out. etc etc.
The decrease in mail-in ballots points very heavily to ballot harvesting – the first stage in both bureaucratic and criminal fraud.
2) Turnout changes. Despite the “Trump bad, Democracy At Stake” messaging, turnout of core Democrat demographics was awful.
3) Demographic vote changes. This is more interesting: why did so many black males, and even significant numbers of black women – vote for Trump as compared to 2020? Why did so many Hispanics vote for Trump? Why did so many college educated, white collar people vote for Trump?
Note I am not saying these groups voted primarily for Trump – what happened though is that there are high single digit to low double digit percentage swings in these groups, for Trump, in 2024 vs. 2020.
Some part of this is due to messaging/low Biden Harris approval, but these shifts are practically historic.

The world is frozen in awkward poses ahead of the elections of the President of the overseas Pindostan.
We have no reason for any inflated expectations.
1. The elections will not change anything for Russia, since the candidates’ positions fully reflect the bipartisan consensus on the need for our country to be defeated.
2. Kamala is stupid, inexperienced, controllable and will be afraid of everyone around her. The synclitus of the most important ministers and assistants will rule, plus indirectly the Obama family.
3. The tired Trump, issuing platitudes like “I will offer a deal” and “I have excellent relations with …”, will also be forced to comply with all the system rules. He will not be able to stop the war. Not in a day, not in three days, not in three months. And if he really tries, he could become the new JFK.
4. Only one thing matters: how much money the new POTUS will knock out for someone else’s distant war. For their military-industrial complex and for the Bandera scum to carve up.
5. Therefore, the best way to make November 5 pleasant for the candidates for the highest American post is to continue to smash the Kiev Nazi regime!
Dmitry Medvedev on the 3rd of November.

You forgot the 4th choice: increase economic growth in the US.
By reshoring manufacturing, for example.
The reason Russia’s economy is growing 4% is because of a truly massive wave of industrial investment – one which is almost entirely private funding. This is not Democrat nonsense style investment where trillions are borrowed to buy solar panels from China, but investment to buy machine and build factories to build stuff composed of atoms (as opposed to bits).

The bar set by the coup plotters against Biden and the fist inside the Harris sock puppet was set exactly where they thought they would win.

Polishing the Democrat’s inadequacy is weak sauce.
The bar to become the American President is both tragically and comically low.
America is running on vapors and true believers are huffing the dregs.

More TDS nonsense.
Let’s look at Musk: SpaceX is a successful business by any metric – even mine. Yes, a lot of government money but far more money would be spent had the same work gone through NASA, for example.
Tesla: a PMC scam but Musk has created a new car company. This is a real accomplishment.
SolarCity: this is the most pure subsidy farming
Thiel: You clearly have not been paying attention, because Thiel has been pushing the idea of America returning to building things composed of atoms for literally 10 years or more.
Your TDS from reading mainstream media/liberal bullshit about Palantir (for which Thiel is only an investor, not an operator yo) is obscuring understanding what Thiel actually talks about and cares about.
Thiel’s initial foray with Trump in 2016 was because he thought Trump could win and would further Thiel’s reshoring agenda; Thiel backed away after 2019 because he concluded that the PMC shitstorm against Trump was getting in the way of same.
But Thiel’s goals have not changed – only now they are championed by JD Vance.
Paulson: he is a bankster. Thing is: if there is one thing Trump is REALLY good at, it is keeping banksters on a leash.
Free range banksters are dangerous; leashed banksters can be useful.

Harris offered no policies for the working class. The story of her defeat is the smaller turnout compared to these voters in the states Biden won in 2020. America’s decline should accelerate with a Trump presidency and now is the time to organize for real change to the political economy when the markets and imperial policies fail catastrophically. NATO’s demise would complement the end of imperial America but Palestine will not survive now that a rabid fascist who supports Zionism is president again.

Its is more efficient to set up a factory practically anywhere else.
Both the skills and the natural resources are more abundant elsewhere.
It will take tariffs, currency controls and decades to rebuild the USA.
First comes winnowing, then gleaning before industry can crawl back.
Why would Capital invest in the USA when returns elsewhere are better?
