Moon of Alabama Brecht quote

Election 2024 – Trump Has Won

MoA, two weeks ago:

My hunch is that Trump will win the election. What policies will follow will largely depend on the people he will select to run the show. He had previously chosen people who were opposing and sabotaging his policies. He lacked the authority and/or will to rein them in. I do not believe that he has learned from it.

It currently looks like Trump has won yesterday's election. The presidency and majorities in the Senate and House will be held by Republicans.

That does not change my policy prediction:

I expect the new president to double down on the anti-Russian project in Ukraine and on support for the genocide the Zionist are committed to finish. The U.S. will continue to be bogged down in Europe and west-Asia. The 'pivot to Asia' to counter China's rise will continue to stall. The economic standing of the U.S. will continue to deteriorate.

This is good news for China, Russia, the BRICS project and those involved in it. As the old world order continues to drag itself down the new one gains time and space to evolve from it.

My hope for Europe is that Trump, being afraid of a real confrontations as he is, will lose the contest with Russia. As Emmanuel Todd had summarized:

It is the outcome of this war that will decide the fate of Europe. If Russia is defeated in Ukraine, European submission to the Americans would be prolonged for a century. If, as I believe, the United States is defeated, NATO will disintegrate and Europe will be left free.

too scents @85: “What is wrong with our own planet except that we don’t have the time to enjoy it because of the demands make by the excesses of people like Musk?”
Good, then launch a socialist revolution to refactor the economy around societal needs and not private ownership of the means of production.
But you won’t do that for… reasons.
Here’s a surprise for you: All of the money spent on space enterprises is spent where? On Earth. It goes into the wages and salaries of people smarter, more skilled, more capable, and frankly more deserving than you.
And maybe you would like to enjoy a nice, clean, green planet, but without having to go Luddite-naked and live in trees and caves and eat bugs. Maybe you are not so selfish and narcissistic as to say “Those Global South people are just going to have to suck it up and live with less electricity and mod-cons than us first-worlders because muh environment!”
The reality is that humanity needs industry, and needs industrial scale energy generation to power that industry. Orders of magnitude more energy than humanity currently has at its disposal is needed. The technology Musk is pioneering is the gateway to forever eliminating all concerns about energy, whether those concerns are about energy shortages or spoiling the environment. That tech is also the gateway to moving the most problematic but necessary smokestack industries out of the Earth’s biosphere.
Don’t worry if your mind cannot handle these ideas. The Chinese will take are taking what Musk started and running with it to achieve things you cannot even comprehend right now.
Ah, it’s a good time to be alive! Living in interesting times isn’t all bad.

With the sheer scale of Trump’s win, and quite possibly winning the popular vote, all the Dem lawyers and nullification operatives will have to stand down. With Trump also controlling both houses he has 2 years to do what he wants to do. The media and Dem establishment have been utterly delegitimized, but maybe they will still try more years of outrageous lies. All of the media operate under government licensing, and Trump could easily yank their chain and perhaps has learnt such tricks in the past 8 years.
The next few months, including who he picks for important positions and how the establishment and media react will tell us what the next few years will look like.

‘A Trump victory will have horrendous consequences for Israel – opinion
Trump has also been reported as having called upon Netanyahu to end the war in Gaza and Lebanon, and the mutual blows with Iran as rapidly as possible, before he enters office in January 2025, assuming he wins
The fact, that in the last stage of his election campaign Trump decided to court the Muslim voters in several pivotal states, promising that “unlike the clowns who are currently running the show in the Middle East” (i.e. the Biden administration) he will bring peace to the region immediately, cannot but cause concern in Israeli government circles’

Finally, a full blown plutocracy will be on display – a millionaire president with billionaires in the administration (Musk), plus a Kennedy allegedly dedicated to children’s health and well being, but not Palestinian children and not Lebanese children being killed daily by US/Israel.
Plutocracy – government controlled exclusively by the wealthy, either directly or indirectly.
Trump, the vulgar ignorant bully, the truest reflection of America there is, bragged proudly that he “gave” the Syrian Golan to his billionaire donors the Adelsons.
Americans call that – democracy.
What an ugly, rotten, bloody farce.

So far, 190 AIPAC-backed candidates have won their elections tonight!
We are proud to stand with pro-Israel Democrats and Republicans to strengthen bipartisan support for the U.S.-Israel relationship.
Being pro-Israel is good policy and good politics!

And the 191st will occupy the White House…

Was on this site over a month ago speculating that whoever was ‘installed’ as POTUS would signal to the world which way the blob was going to go in terms of using the USA & the West to its goals. We now know this means war with China up next, with the MidEast as a distraction.
The plan all along was/is to keep Russia occupied in the West so they can’t help China on the Eastern front . Ukraine war will ‘end’ like the war in Korea “ended”….permanent line of demarcation which could turn hot at any time. The West will use the next 2 to 3 years to rearm/reload, then go after China about 2026 or 2027. After all the collapse of the Western empire in 2030 is fast approaching…

The stunningly unasked question about the DNC and Democrats at large is why they didn’t push Kamala Harris (or better candidate) instead of humiliating their constituency with the self-propelled zombie Pres, before the race was in full speed …
Not the best timing for changing horse, is it?
Of course that would put the responsibility for disaster on unwilling shoulders …

Wrell the fact withouth the pandemic Trump’s votes from yesterday tallied with 2016 results. Pretty evident I think.
Posted by: south | Nov 6 2024 12:17 utc | 92
So I am wrong. It looks like the babbling nonsense stories about election fraud will continue….
Not all the votes are counted but it looks like the votes for Trump will be a lot closer to 2020 results than to 2016. What changed in 2024 compared to 2020 was that something like 14 million voters against Trump did not bother to vote this time.
But I do agree that the Trump administration’s helter skelter response to the pandemic was the number one reason so many more people were motivated to vote to fire Trump in 2020. But that’s not evidence of election fraud.

The Zionists are frightened of Trump as he is nationalist leader:
‘Devotion to the interests or culture of a particular nation-state.
The belief that nations will benefit from acting independently rather than collectively, emphasizing national rather than international goals.
The belief that a particular cultural or ethnic group constitutes a distinct people deserving of political self-determination.’

On a jollier note – I guess the WH gets another refurb internally!
Plenty of Biden poop and pee stains, plenty of white powder trails, all the places Hunter and his kiddie porn fetish were leaving errr mess.
There’s also the secret entrance and rooms for Obama and Killary and their voice control apparatus for Joe and Kemala.
And of course all the dodgy spy came left by NuttyYahoo and his missus with their dirty laundry smelling of death.
Yup Melania is going to be super busy for the next month or two splashing out.
I guess our next bit of fun is going to be seeing who is chosen by the National Interest backers to be in the Cabinet and who is by Donald himself.
He would do well to keep his children out of the loop of the main decisions this time to avoid screwing up as Biden has with Hunter and co.
As some are also noting this is his chance to leave for posterity a proud Drumpff dynasty instead of the seedy Bush/Clinton/Biden type.

Trump won’t want an Iran war. Neither do the mullahs. Bleeding Israel is their goal. Israel will withdraw, as always.
Ukraine will negotiate. Z will get double-tapped. Russia will play the field from there, as will Trump. The killing ends when rump Ukraine accepts their status. Europe will exhale.

Three choices to tackle federal debt;

3) “restructure” debt

I saw one article recently that said up to 200 legal actions by the RNC in many states were started this election cycle. Many of those already had rulings before election day, some before early election starts.
Some were in states that Trump has won, and was projected to win. So why bother?
Of course it is to set the legal precedent When a federal judge rules something can/can’t happen in one state, it can then apply to all states, providing a legal action in each state. After 10 or 12 states get the ruling, the rest either fall in lone, or get quick judgments against them.
The actions include challenging voter registration rolls, absentee ballots (when, where and how to collect them), 2 (or more) party monitoring of polls, etc. With those actions happening before the election, it is much easier to get a quick ruling between the vote and 3 Jan, when the new congress gets seated.
Also without a medical lockdown, too many folks out there with cameras picking up things as they happen. Also more folks just involved due to the 2020 situation.
Isn’t it funny that Florida, (now the 3rd largest population) can have 98% of votes counted within an hour after polls close, and states like Arizona, Nevada and California may take “days” to tally theirs?

There are federal regulations and laws that govern what a state can’t do in terms of access to voting, ballot types, etc.
The states still have a lot of leeway, but there is some uniformity enforced.

Since the truth is inconvenient, and world leaders are turning to poetry and metaphors to explain the merits and rationale for their supremacy, I’m going to do something for you.
“You” I mean American voters and European viewers, more than anyone else. The question is this: How does the rest of the world view this election? How does 95 percent of the planet view this election?
There are two elephants in a beautiful garden
One of them is tied up, and the other walks around loose, knocking down fences and ruining well-tended flower beds, wilting flowers, and saving a little of what’s left for the tied elephant.
Every four years, the elephants’ owner turns them loose for fun, whereupon they fight with their long trunks and worn tusks, crushing everything around with their big paws…
One elephant emerges victorious and the other is tied up again.
The garden is depleted and destroyed by the fight, but everyone acts as if it didn’t happen, but each time, the fences are stronger, the green vegetables are protected by stronger thorns, and the loose elephant has a little more trouble grabbing his food and that of his companion, while he gets hurt and both get thinner.
In four years it will be even more difficult and laborious, and perhaps they won’t let them fight… perhaps, next time, instead of releasing the other elephant, they will tie up the loose one.
The big animals, old and blind, have no other option than to obey and be docile, because they are locked up, powerless, and they don’t know how to do anything other than get up on two legs and give a huge cry to ask for more food.
One day, there will be no one to feed them.
No one.
The rest of the world sees the American elections as a tragedy for the planet and for the people of that country…

About stubborn Trump
I wrote in Telegram a couple of days ago about the furious bipartisan anti-Russian consensus on Capitol Hill. These assessments are fair, including taking into account the majority of “elephants” received in the Senate.
But Trump has one quality that is useful for us: as a businessman to the core, he mortally dislikes spending money on various hangers-on and freeloaders – on idiotic allies, on stupid charity projects and on gluttonous international organizations.
Toxic Bandera Ukraine is in the same row. The question is how much will they force Trump to give for the war. He is stubborn, but the system is stronger.
In any case, today the green scum in Kyiv will bury themselves in white powder up to their ears…

—-
I thought Trump was going to win, but didn’t really care either way since, as you point out, the real key regardless of ‘Murican desire for a return to the easy 80s is the harsh reality of 20s post Imperial power.
While there are rarely sure things in the financial markets, the inevitable pressure to default, devalue and restructure is 100% baked in; so, play it as it lies. Of course the resulting massive inflationary effects, 20%+ unemployment, and collapsing overseas military position will only add fuel to the fire.
My advice, no different than that of any other prudent person, is get out of debt. Next, try to acquire to the best of your abilities real assets in areas where you match the existing demographics (race, religion, income, political POV, etc).
This is going to be one hell of a ride.

Is the ballot paper layout a matter of state government rather than federal?
Posted by: Gerry Bell | Nov 6 2024 12:33 utc | 98
_____
Other than the date on which the general elections are held, states have almost unlimited discretion in determining how they are held.
Posted by: malenkov | Nov 6 2024 12:37 utc | 99

Whilst election procedures are legally within the domain of state government, the decisions states make concerning who gets on the ballot is shaped by private interests, such as by the DNC.
The DNC operators us various maneuvers to control which candidates are on the ballot. In my state these private-club interests, the DNC and their gophers, kept Jill Stein off the ballot whilst requiring JFK Jr. to remain on it even as he requested removal. Their goal was to favor the D party candidate, in the first case by limiting Stein voters and in the latter by encouraging voters to split the support for T by voting JFK jr.
Now that their bag of tricks have failed, prepare for more tyranny from them if they can get away with it.

The easy way for Trump to end the war in one day in Ukraine.. is to offer to repair and make active the Nord Stream II pipeline from Russia to Germany.. in exchange for Russia’s halt in Ukraine. Russia to be allowed to keep the Donbass and Crimea. Z to be tried, convicted and fried.. Just like they did Saddem Huesian.. and Ukraine not to be allowed to join NATO.

Every single Biden-Harris appointee needs to security escorted out of their DC offices on 1/20/25, no exceptions.
One of the big mistakes made in DJT first term was allowing Obama holdovers to continue to hold positions, that was a huge mistake. These holdovers actually attempted a coup in the Russia gate fiasco.
All JCOS officers also need to be fired asap. The Milley group of neo con stooge general need be released.
All US Attorneys need to be immediately fired.
Jack Smith need to be fired and arrested for treason.
FBI Director Chris Wray, who deliberately covered up for the Biden Crime family needs to fired. He basically hide the Hunter laptop, and is now in the process of arresting political opposition figures all over the country. The FBI needs to broken up. The are now really the American Stasi.
Like JFK had planned, the CIA deep state needs to be broken up in detail. Its a clear threat to the American Republic. Its hip deep in the Ukrainian Nazi disaster. It formulated the Maidan coup.
<=yes Trump supporters will insist on this.. the deep state owned media is likely to leash out..in denial..

So we will have a President showing his love of common people by going to an elite golf course in a trash collecting truck. The elect is full of … his truck content, and the hope is that as he has attention deficiency, the evil will be less systematic than before.
I view Democratic Party like a house on a very attractive piece of real estate, its historical voter base, but totally rotten, so the best thing that may happen is to tear it down and build again. It will not happen, but perhaps some meaningful renovations…
About real or overblown fascistic tendencies of Trump. The most concrete is the support of police brutality, which is widespread although not universal problem in USA. Things that may happen can be mind blowing, like arresting a young man, basically for nothing, in such a way that he had to spend more than a month in a hospital and remains covered by burn scars, it was 45 C in the shade on this afternoon in Phoenix, with no shade, and cops pressed him face down to the pavement for many minutes, ignoring his howls of pain. Happened in June (July?), and police and DA do not release any information and body camera footage but “investigate”. Phoenix is one of the rotten police department that requires federal supervision, but in Trump years, Department of Justice ignore all such needs. Reforming police in US is devilishly complicated, but Trump simply runs on being tough, read, brutal.
A rare foreign policy remark in election ads claim that “Weakness of the Biden/Harris administration led to two wars”. This is typical, not promising, formulation. “Make America powerful again” is another. Sinister slogans, although may be empty.

It’s been obvious since Istanbul, my view well before, that the only way the Ukrainian war was going to end was with the unconditional capitulation of Ukraine. The neutralisation of Ukraine is going to happen one way or another and always was.
For the Russians, “neutralisation” means “demilitarisation and denazification”. Just that. Territorial adjustments are irrelevant, though there are going to be a whole lot of people in Russia – in the Russian General Staff too! – who are going to be more than upset if those territorial adjustments don’t lead to the reintegration of regions previously accepted as Russian.
That’s not the primary goal of the SMO though. The primary goal of the SMO is neutralisation. “They (the Russians) want to end up with a neutral remnant Ukraine, one released from the domination of the ultras and no longer usable by us as a base for further destabilisation activities. … precisely how they’re going to achieve that they probably don’t know for sure yet and we don’t know at all.”
The Trump victory, though I personally was very pleased to see it, will make no difference to that outcome in remnant Ukraine. It will, I very much hope, lead to an earlier end to the war there and thus fewer deaths. It will not alter that end.
It cannot alter it. We have heard much talk in the West of “deals” with Russia that will leave remnant Ukraine more or less within the Western orbit. We hear of “DMZ’s”, Korean solutions, two Germany solutions, Japanese solutions even, temporary ceasefires, and also, much talked about, a “Trump solution”.
Maybe those “deals” could have been put on the table before February 2022. I doubt it, but I don’t know. They’re not on the table now. For all the talk of “Istanbul 2″ that deal too is off the table. I wish to hell we in the West had actually read what the Russians said, instead of relying on the scraps that are retailed to us, and that often inaccurately, by our politicians and journalists. And what the Russians have said on any sort of compromise peace deal is set out in just one sentence:-
” Naturally, this entails the removal of all Western sanctions against Russia as well.”
https://mid.ru/en/foreign_policy/news/1957107/
This condition set out again by Lavrov later, this time talking directly and unfiltered to a Western audience in Newsweek:-
“- and removal of all sanctions against Russia.”
https://www.newsweek.com/exclusive-russias-lavrov-warns-dangerous-consequences-us-ukraine-1964468
Not going to happen. I simply can’t imagine President Trump removing “all sanctions”. If he wanted to, he couldn’t. And if he could, how would he take the bitterly anti-Russian European politicians along with him?
So no “deal”. The Ukrainian war might indeed come to an end sooner than if Vice-President Harris had won. I hope it does. With any luck we’re not going to fight that war to the very last Ukrainian. It’ll still end with the neutralisation of Ukraine in accordance with the Russian goals set out at the beginning of the SMO. And we in Europe are still in for Cold War II.
It’s not going to be as comfortable and agreeable a cold war as Cold War I.

I am in agreement with Old Fart and Julianna.
Given the incredible obstacles that Trump had to overcome – weaponization of the law, demonization by corporate media, multiple assassination attempts – his victory represents a remarkable turn of events in the United States. The majority of Americans rejected the new ideology of the Woke Democratic party that manifested itself into censorship, open borders, lawlessness, and a general contempt of the US Constitution and Bill of Rights.
The American public finally saw through the lies of the mainstream media – propaganda masquerading as news, which has systematically misinformed the people about what is happening in the world. There clearly is panic in the ruling elite. Let us hope that the current regime in D.C. will not choose to start World War 3 as a means to stop Trump from taking office.

Like Putin’s 3 objectives for the SMO, Trump gave 3 objectives for his second term in his speech last night.
1. Close the border. People coming to America must go through the legal process.
2. Bring back jobs and rein in inflation.
3. Make America great again.
Once he gets those 3 things resolved then we can ask what he’s going to do next. Keep it simple.

Some of his remarks cause panic among neo-barbarians (the amalgam of neo-liberals and neo-conservatives), is this tribe ALWAYS panics and claims that the sky is falling, but nothing really happen. Act 2: Russia and North Korea are best friends ever, while China watches with smile. If it were only North Korea, it would not matter much, but Trump contributed to the disaster we have now. We have had too much governing by executive order.
That explains a lot of the expansion of the power of the executive branch.
It is a good thing IMO if Congress remembers its duties under powers under the Constitution: pass laws, control the purse, advise and consent, and declare war, among other things.

It was the democracy, stoopid. Have a look at those election maps. Count the counties and not so much the big cities and their burbs. Perhaps Trump was and is great rhetoric with little substance…but his approach was massively accepted by (1. almost the entirety of rural America…the real America…and (2. the millions of working stiffs who have come to realize that the American Dream that they had believed in has now evaporated into full-out rule from the top of the politico-economic scrotumpole.
Trump and his party have won…tellingly. But guess what? The democracy, the actual majority of Americans, is expecting results. Trump is whether he realizes that or not…on PROBATION.
Trust is a precious thing. It is not a commodity. It cannot be bought. The Great Awakening is upon us and it is a strange amalgam, a combination of traditionalists of more than one stripe and curiously, effervescing amongst Gens Y and Z…most specifically those younger folks who have developed a deep distrust of institution. In a sense, Trump intuited that yeasty conglomeration of the fed-up along with those who have not given up their existential hope for a brighter future.
Expectations will be high throughout the Heartland…a landing space which is both geographical and attitudinal. The over-miseducated, concentrated mainly on the two coasts…along with large urban agglomerations such as Chicago, Atlanta and Denver…have LOST. Even in my blue, blue state of Minnesota, early election returns indicated that only the Twin Sitties, Duluth, Rochester and Moorhead…along with a smattering of college towns and regional governance centers…favored the Democrat party. Realization amongst the democracy, We The People, that Joe and Joan Paycheck have been confused, misused and abused by an administrative bureaucracy mainly comprised of those who sport a string of letters tailing their surnames.
In my little Northwoods county, the mega-agribizzies (not real farmers, but heavy equipment operators and chemical warfare applicators) almost uniformly displayed Harris/Walz signs in front of their driveways. Why so? Soybean and corn crops are subsidized by the govmint and so is the crop-insurance racket.
Trump’s administration will need to be very careful in cutting assistance for medical care, energy needs and even food-stamp benefits. The folks who actually (in most cases) need the help in this corporate and bank$ter controlled dog eat dog economy. No. The cuts will need to be imposed on the Big Dogs, the genuine parasites. Tax relief and low-interest loans for small business folks will be needed to create a recovery from the Plandemic Lockdowns which effectually destroyed tens of thousands of those entrepreneurial enterprises.
Born with a silver spoon up his voluminous derriere, Donald J. Trumpenstein will be expected by the democracy to actually PRODUCE and not merely spout nice words and retractable promises.
Expectations on the part of the vast majority of those who voted for change are extremely high. The democracy is a rough beast which will NOT accept being fooled again. THAT level of suspicion must be addressed, beginning on January 20,2025.

One interesting side effect of Trump’s win is that he now has the opportunity to go after the people who tried to kill him. The “lonely shooter on the roof” story will not last for decades as the Oswald story did. The assassination attempt on July 13 was clearly MIHOP, not LIHOP, and a second shooter is not an outrageous conspiracy theory anymore, but an investigation path pursued by Republican lawmakers.
If July 13th is identified as an inside job, this will have a massive impact on other unsolved cases, from JFK to 9/11.

The actual border crossings will continue unabated.
Why? “It’s the economy, stupid.” You think the donor class behind both parties are going to want to swap their cheap illegal labor to in order to start paying fair wages to citizens? It is an unusual interlude William. On the one hand you would think the existing legislation would be tempered and respectful and move towards allowing a smoother transition (and therefore somewhat attentive to the future president’s stance, even if just to try to maintain some kind of party dignity) , and on the other hand this period could be one where US command and “Israel” act to cram in as much event as possible before the change of leadership (and knowing that can all then be blamed by the new US on the outgoing legislature).
Even if existing US command and “Israel” have the free reign they exhibit now, I expect there will be some strong messaging finding its way through. Already it appears that part of the military is not at all content with direction in the near and middle east.
I don’t know, but I don’t think Palestine resistance or Lebanon or Iran or Syria are going to feel any the safer during this time.
As for when Trump is actually president, I won’t start to guess but it could hardly be worse than the existing legislative.
From my view, his involvement with “Israel” is a shame, and a distraction from more important domestic matters.
His election is the “less bad”, the Spanish have a way of saying it (menos mal) that carries a better meaning of that.

I encourage barflies to vote for Jill Stein in the hope she will get at least 5% of the vote which would give America a much needed 3rd party.
Posted by: psychohistorian | Nov 4 2024 17:27 utc | 39

In response to a comment like this (possibly from psychohistorian) I remarked that Stein would be lucky to get 1% of the popular vote. As of right now AP has her at 623,125 votes — which sounds awfully impressive until one realizes that that’s a full 0.4% of the popular vote. (For what it’s worth, that’s more than any other third-party candidate, including RFK Jr.)
A lot of us are so comfortable at the bar that we tend to forget there’s a real world out there where the vast majority of the population has simply never heard of Jill Stein, and most of those who have, would scorn the thought of voting for her because “that’s just a vote for Trump.”

Posted by: malenkov | Nov 6 2024 15:46 utc | 185

I disagree with B’s assessment that Trump in his previous term hired the people who opposed or sabotaged his policies.
Trump hired those people to execute his policies to shift the blame while maintaining an anti-establishment, anti-deep state, anti-war posture. It was Trump who chose to make antipathy to Iran the centerpiece of his foreign policy. Trump could not extricate the US from the region, while simultaneously pursuing a more aggressive anti-Iranian policy than his predecessor. The pursuit of that anti-Iranian policy has had a great deal to do with the failure to bring US involvement in multiple unnecessary wars to an end. This was not something foisted on him by others, but has been his own doing from the beginning. When his subordinates disagreed with him about the nuclear deal as Tillerson and McMaster did, he replaced them sooner or later, and he chose even more bellicose and aggressive people to take their place. He has signed off on every aggressive anti-Iranian move he could.
Trump wanted to quit the deal but wanted Iran to take the blame but after multiple inspections, Tillerson regrettably noted that Iran is in compliance.
Evasion of responsibility is a matter of supreme importance in the West.

Trump has been talking of ending the war in Ukraine and about better relations with Russia so Ukraine project will end.
Given family and donor ties the jury is still out on Israel, but my guess is that post elections Trump will be inclined to avoid further escalation.
That avoidance is not so much fueled by fear as some allege here, but simply because the businessman is well aware that wars are in general and more specifically in this case wars are loss making affairs while the US actually has no funds to spare given its internal and debt problems.
B seems to suffer from some TDS causing a very pessimistic view, but Trump is aware that the GOP poisonous personnel assignment during his 1st term was the main cause for his weakness. For instance someone like Barr, Haley,Pompeo, Wray will not have any position within his administration. That still leaves the Herculean task of cleaning out most branches of government from sleepers.

Lots of speculation, but everyone ought to get a tabula rasa out for what happens from here: What Trump said during the campaign was then, the campaign’s over, now the selection of senior administration officials begins and that’s where the possible direction of Trump’s term can be more properly assessed. The real test comes on 20 January 2025 when he swears to uphold and defend the Constitution, which he failed at last time from day one. Too many people forgot that Trump as president was a criminal meriting impeachment and removal, mistakes he made all on his own. He has an opportunity to overturn that legacy. Who he chooses for cabinet positions will indicate if he’ll attempt to rectify his past or continue it.
