UNIFIL: Israeli forces crossed Blue Line, ‘destroyed’ main base gate
The United Nations says Israeli tanks burst through the gates of its peacekeeping force base in southern Lebanon after three platoons of Israeli soldiers crossed the Blue Line.
The UN peacekeepers said in a statement at 4:30am (01:30 GMT), two Israeli army Merkava tanks “destroyed” their main gate and “forcibly entered the position” while peacekeepers were asleep.
“The tanks left about 45 minutes later after UNIFIL protested through our liaison mechanism, saying [the Israeli military] presence was putting peacekeepers in danger,” it said.
At 6:40am (03:40 GMT), peacekeepers reported several rounds being fired about 100 metres (328 feet) north of their position in what appeared to be an attack with some sort of chemical agent.
“Despite putting on protective masks, 15 peacekeepers suffered effects including skin irritation and gastrointestinal reactions after the smoke entered the camp. The peacekeepers are receiving treatment.”

Massive explosion heard in Haifa
Local sources reported tens of massive explosions in occupied Palestine on Sunday morning.
Arab media outlets on Sunday morning reported that alarm sirens went off in the north of the Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories, including in Haifa.
The reports added that moments later, tens of huge blasts rocked occupied Palestine.
Zionist media also reported that a massive blast was heard in Haifa.

Outraged@1522
Has Bealzebub Snotrich lost all sense of humanity? Ancient Israel, to say nothing of Judea, was not the powerful kingdom of David and Jonathan. That crappola was all concocted by the Septuagint in Alexandria, Egypt during the later days of the Ptolemaic reign. Never, did any aspect of their made-up religion and their tribal WarGod, JHVH/Yahweh/Jehovah have any historical claim to Damascus.
That man is the #1 racist fanatic in the world today. He is the exemplar of why the Zionist regime must be wiped off the face of the map. One suggestion for those I$raelis who are totally incapable of living peacefully with others would be for the U$$A to sell them some of the outer fringes of the Aleutian Islands. Not exactly tropical paradises, those islands do have pretty good fishing offshore, along with dense fog and heavy rainfall. Not much wood, though, nor abundant sunshine...so it would be a well deserved struggle.

This has almost certainly been posted here already, maybe even by b, but I just finished watching it and thought I needed to share. It’s a full length documentary from Al Jezeera on the Gaza genocide, but it’s almost entirely made up of the comments, actions, etc. of the officials, soldiers and citizens of the Illegal Entity. Really something to behold. Satanic might actually be a good word for it. It raises the question in my mind, how do you beat these devils without becoming a monster yourself?

They've been quoting this number (thereabouts) for the past 3 - 4 months now. I believe it should be substantially higher, probably in the range of multiple hundreds of thousands (5 - 10x)
Aside:
That number is remarkably close to the claimed dead in Gaza. That number too, is certainly an undercount.

Israel bombs and kills Palestinian children playing football in north Gaza
Hind Khoudary, Al JaZeera
Reporting from Deir el-Balah, central Gaza
An Israeli drone attack just targeted children playing football in the al-Shati refugee camp, west of Gaza City. At least six Palestinians were killed including five children and a woman. Many wounded were taken to al-Ahli Hospital.
Endless air strikes, explosions, quadcopters – people in northern Gaza say they’re trying to call local and international organisations to rescue the injured from the bombed-out buildings. But it has been extremely difficult for Palestinian Civil Defence workers to reach those trapped.
At least 400,000 Palestinians are stranded in the north during the latest Israeli onslaught. They’re surrounded by Israeli forces and under constant fire daily.
The Israeli military issued orders for people to evacuate, but whoever tries to move is being targeted and shot.
People who were able to leave their houses were blocked by sandbag barricades. It’s been nine days without food, water, electricity. Residents tell us there were many Palestinians shot and their bodies are on the streets with no one able to remove them.

I wouldn't be so enthused with emigration from Israel, those leaving are very likely liberals, moderates, and those not advocates of a Hebrew fundamentalist or zionist super state, and those most likely to fill the streets with protest and vote against Likud. Which means the population in Israel becomes ever more monolithic and reactionary - exactly what the orthodox, ultra-right, and zionist and Netanyahu government wants.

Don Firineach @ 21
The goal is to terror depopulate Lebanon by death and emigration in conjunction with destabilizing the state to the point of non-existence, much like Libya. That way Israel can first occupy then eventually annex southern Lebanon de facto. As for de jure, it becomes a minimal hindrance if there's no viable state to contest it. This is exactly what they did to the PLO and now Hamas. Might makes right but if there's no legitimate recognized resistance there are no de jure peccadilloes before the UN or the world community, it just makes conquest that much easier and that much more permanent. It's all very well thought out. Seems shocking due to the scale and modern connectivity but it's just a continuation of what they've been doing for 78ys.

The Guardian is reporting 39 wounded in the drone attack. They arent specific that it was an attack on a military site. They have also posted that a THAAD system is to be sent to Israel with US personnel. They have actually posted a photograph of a THAAD being delivered to Nevatim in 2019. Seems likely this was the system and it was recently destroyed. The US only has 7 of these systems so this new delivery has to be a replacement rather than an additional piece.

Under count. Also, if as Exile says @36 "The drone exploded in southern Haifa without being detected, and therefore the air raid sirens did not sound in the area.", then that would seem to indicate there was no "barrage of missiles to cover the drone", indicating to my mind that the Israelis are beginning to encounter serious issues with their AD. Maybe a legacy of the Iranian attack.
My above thoughts would seem to be borne out by the following story after previous reports that the Iranians had destroyed the Thaad that the Israeli's previously had.

As good a time as any to again post this summary from Oil Change International and Data Desk.
A lot of people are directly involved, none of it happens by itself.
Data Analysis
Investigating the countries and companies behind Israeli crude oil and fuel supply chains
March 2024
In February 2024, Oil Change International (OCI) commissioned Data Desk to provide an overview of the supply chains that are currently bringing crude oil and refined products to Israel, focusing on fuel supplies to the country’s armed forces.
The research comes in the context of Israel’s 2023 invasion of the Gaza Strip and in the wake of a 2024 ruling by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) that Israel’s actions may have violated the terms of the Genocide Convention.
The primary aim of the analysis was to determine:
• Which are the main countries supplying fuel to
Israel?
• What are the major international oil and gas
companies supplying fuel to Israel and the Israeli
military?
The data was last updated March 8, 2024.
Key Findings
• Israel continues to receive a substantial amount of JP-8 jet fuel from the United States in the form of military aid. Israel has received three tankers of JP-8 Jet Fuel from the U.S. (specifically formulated for military jets) since the war started. One left the U.S. before the war started, while two have been sent since.
The latest shipment appears to have been docked at Israel’s Ashkelon terminal on March 6.
Tankers delivering fuel recently appear to have been turning off their Automatic Identification System (AIS) transponders long before reaching the country, presumably for safety reasons.
Virtually all other shipments of refined petroleum products to Israel have dried up since October (presumably as a result of the broader Red Sea crisis).
• Besides jet fuel, Israel’s military requires significant quantities of diesel and gasoline for tanks and other military vehicles. This research confirms that this is supplied by Israel’s refineries, which rely on regular imports of crude oil and feedstocks from overseas.
•• Key countries supplying Israel with crude oil imports since October 2023 are: Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan/Russia, Gabon, and Brazil.
•• Major international oil and gas companies complicit in facilitating these supplies of crude oil include: BP, Chevron, ExxonMobil, Shell, Eni, and TotalEnergies.
• Azeri crude is delivered via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) Pipeline which terminates in Ceyhan, Türkiye, where it is loaded on tankers. BP is the operator and largest shareholder of BTC (with minority partners Equinor, Eni, TotalEnergies and Exxon) and produces some of the crude oil delivered by the pipeline in the Caspian Sea in partnership with the Azeri national oil company, SOCAR.
• Kazakh oil is delivered via the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) Pipeline, in which Chevron has the largest stake amongst international oil majors, followed by Exxon, Shell and Eni. These companies, along with Russian and Kazakh companies, have stakes in both the oil fields feeding the pipeline and the pipeline.
• Two shipments of Brazilian crude oil totaling 260,000 tons have been delivered to Israel since the start of Israel’s invasion of Gaza. One arrived in December 2023, and the other in February 2024. This crude was supplied from offshore fields co-owned by Shell and TotalEnergies together with Brazil’s Petrobras. As a significant oil supplier to Israel, Brazilian President Lula, who has been highly critical of Israel, has the opportunity to help bring about a ceasefire by pursuing an oil embargo.
• Israel also receives relatively small but regular shipments of crude oil via the SUMED pipeline. The pipeline receives crude oil from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Iraq and from Egypt through which the pipeline travels. All of these countries have condemned Israel’s actions in Gaza. The crude oil is loaded onto tankers west of Alexandria to make the short journey to Israel.
• Russia continues to supply a steady stream of vacuum gas oil (VGO) for one of the key refineries in Haifa. VGO is generally upgraded into gasoline and diesel.

For years, the Israeli army has assigned exclusively women conscripts to the unit because of their particular ability to concentrate. Their task: Monitoring the region behind the border fence with the help of high-tech cameras and reporting anything that catches their attention. And for her and her comrades, there has been plenty to report of late: For several months, they have seen conspicuous activity by Hamas in Gaza and have told their superiors that an attack was imminent."
The writer assigns the blame to patriarchy, but others might opine the reasons go far beyond that.

Statement by Pentagon on THAAD Battery, Oct 13
At the direction of the President, Secretary Austin authorized the deployment of a Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) battery and associated crew of U.S. military personnel to Israel to help bolster Israel's air defenses following Iran's unprecedented attacks against Israel on April 13 and again on October 1. The THAAD Battery will augment Israel's integrated air defense system. This action underscores the United States' ironclad commitment to the defense of Israel, and to defend Americans in Israel, from any further ballistic missile attacks by Iran. It is part of the broader adjustments the U.S. military has made in recent months, to support the defense of Israel and protect Americans from attacks by Iran and Iranian-aligned militias. This is not the first time the United States has deployed a THAAD battery to the region. The President directed the military to deploy a THAAD battery to the Middle East last year following the October 7th attacks to defend American troops and interests in the region. The United States previously deployed a THAAD battery to Israel in 2019 for training and an integrated air defense exercise . . . .here

The crude oil is loaded onto tankers west of Alexandria to make the short journey to Israel.Posted by: hole in head | Oct 13 2024 18:20 utc | 54
It's not "Iraqi" oil. Part of it is oil administered by the Kurdish administration in Iraq and part of it Syrian oil which Yankee steal and transport to Iraq. Turkish government is part of the deal and get provisions.

Well, yes, but they will find life increasingly difficult without doctors, engineers, and programmers.
And, let's face it, nobody is going to Israel. People don't go there to suffer and die. They go there to steal land and murder people. The protest vote against Likud had nothing to do with the rights of Palestinians, and when Palestinians tried to join the protests, they were thrown out.

Israel wants to remove UNIFIL’s presence from southern Lebanon
Ray Murphy, a professor of law at the University of Galway and a former UN peacekeeper with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), said Israel’s ultimate goal is to kick the UN mission out of southern Lebanon to free the area of international observers.
“They do not want to have a UN force that is able to report and observe the activities of the Israeli forces on the ground,” Murphy said. “The Israelis seem to be intent on carrying out a similar campaign in southern Lebanon to that which they just conducted and are continuing to conduct in Gaza. And they must not be allowed to do this.”
Murphy’s comments come soon after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu demanded that UNIFIL members leave combat areas in southern Lebanon, warning that their refusal to do so will make them “hostages of Hezbollah”.
Al Jazeera. Murphy served with the Irish UNIFIL forces in Lebanon
We must wait and see if Israel succeeds in getting them out ... I will not be surprised if IDF kill a few in an "accidental error of judgement ... etc
# Incomprehensible’ that UNIFIL is kept in line of fire: Israel ambassador
It is “incomprehensible” that the UN would not move peacekeepers out of areas in southern Lebanon where Israeli forces are battling Hezbollah fighters, Israel’s UN Ambassador Danny Danon has said.
He also claimed that Hezbollah fighters were “using UNIFIL outposts as hiding places and as places of ambushes”.

Lebensraum:
Renowned German geographer Friedrich Ratzel coined the term in 1901. [...] Ratzel and others were also deeply influenced by the new work of Charles Darwin and his theory of natural selection. [...] Pointing to the British and French Empires and to American “Manifest Destiny,” Ratzel contended that Germany required overseas colonies to relieve German over-population. The East presented another logical outlet for growth.
Lebensraum and the Nazi State:
In the Nazi state, Lebensraum became not just a romantic yearning for a return to the East but a vital strategic component of its imperial and racist visions. For the Germans, eastern Europe represented their “Manifest Destiny.” Hitler and other Nazi thinkers drew direct comparisons to American expansion in the West. During one of his famous “table talks,” Hitler decreed that “there's only one duty: to Germanize this country [Russia] by the immigration of Germans and to look upon the natives as Redskins.”
United States Holocaust Memorial Museum

The "tyrannical genocidal racist-supremacist character" is the heart and soul of America.
Failure to acknowledge the root cause means that the cure will never be found, which is what the Americans and their lackeys in the West truly want when they try desperately to attribute all blame to Israel instead of acknowledging that Israel is merely a tool to further America's imperial interests. If America is ever identified as the prime mover of the conflict, then Americans cannot dodge the question of why they have failed to overthrow their governments if they truly cared so much for the suffering of the Palestinian, Lebanese, etc. peoples. Overthrowing the bourgeoisie would mean bloodshed. The end of the American Empire would spell the end of their cushy lives.

THAAD - we’re all supposed to be wowed by a new unfamiliar abbreviation?
It’s actually quite familiar. I’m within a decade of retirement age, as a teenager interested in military aviation half a century ago I remember reading about THAAD. It’s even older than Patriot. How many millions do each individual missile cost? And how many thousands will be needed - every week? Better grease up those money-printers!

Think of this-Titus then Hadrian dispersed the radical Jews 2,000 years ago. The ordinary schlepper Jew stayed in Palestine-then the Muslims took over Palestine 600 years later and eventually, the ordinary Jews , because of lesser tax obligations many of them converted to the Muslim religion.
Fast forward to 1948 Nakba when the converted Jewish Muslims were herded to Gaza by the non ethnic Jewish Ashekenazis.
