West Experiences Blowback From Fostering Fascists In Ukraine

At the start of the Special Military Operation in February 2022 I warned of the blowback that, I asserted, would likely come if the West continued to pamper Nazi groups in Ukraine:

The U.S. aim is to create an insurgency in the Ukraine.

The Coming Ukrainian InsurgencyForeign Affairs
Russia’s Invasion Could Unleash Forces the Kremlin Can’t Control

Since 2015 the CIA has trained Ukrainian groups for exactly that purpose.

CIA-trained Ukrainian paramilitaries may take central role if Russia invadesYahoo

CIA support for Ukrainian Nazis has a long history.

Op-Ed: The CIA has backed Ukrainian insurgents before. Let’s learn from those mistakesLA Times

A new Nazi insurgency in eastern Europe is an exceptionally bad idea. Fascist groups from everywhere would join in. A few years from now it may well lead to Nazi terror in many European countries. Have we learned really nothing from the war on Syria and the ISIS campaign?

Me and Ivan Katchanovski were probably the only ones who had warned of this:

Katchanovski adds that, “This is also going to have a dangerous effect on Ukraine and potentially other countries because now, basically, Nazis in Ukraine are made into national heroes.” He also noted that Azov (as well as Western governments) has consistently pressured Zelensky — including with threats, and even before Russia invaded — not to seek a peace deal with Russia or withdraw forces from the Donbas region. In February, Azov branded Zelensky a “servant of the Russian people” after he suggested that he might negotiate with Moscow.

Katchanovski said that the valorization of the Azov Regiment is comparable to how the West initially supported the predecessors of the Taliban in their fight against the Soviet Union’s intervention in the war in Afghanistan in the 1980s, and also risks inspiring yet more far-right activists from other countries to join the conflict in Ukraine in order to gain military experience, potentially causing a blowback effect if they make it home.

Yesterday one avid U.S. supporter of the fascists in Ukraine tried to assassinate the Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump:

EXCLUSIVE: Attempted Trump assassin Ryan Routh appeared in a propaganda video for the AZOV BATTALLION in May 2022

Routh, himself being too old to fight, had tried to hire foreign mercenaries to fight on the fascist side in Ukraine. He obviously targeted Trump because he had promised to dictate an end to the war in Ukraine.

Was Routh more than a lone wolf in this?

We know little so far, but w alleged Trump shooter's personal and public participation in military activity in Ukraine, it is hard to imagine this White House's agencies can claim zero contact—"clean hands." Something of an Oswald vibe, here. Congress should get answers.

As more people start to think about potential ways to end the war in Ukraine the far-right in Ukraine is threatening to use violence to prevent that:

SIMPLICIUS Ѱ @simpatico771 – 18:13 UTC · Sep 15, 2024

⚡️🇺🇦Ukraine's most feared drone warlord threatens Zelensky:

A serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the call sign "Madyar" openly and "without drama" threatens the Ukrainian government.

According to him, if someone negotiates with the Russian Federation "not in the interests of the Ukrainian people", then a million fighters will return from the front and overthrow such a government.
Embedded video

The Washington Post tries to explain the issue:

‘Sprinkled with our blood’: Why so many Ukrainians resist land for peace
Ukraine is under pressure to cut a deal to end the war, especially if Trump wins, but there is likely to be fierce opposition from some soldiers and their families in the east.

It turns out that the 'so many' Ukrainians are not so many but a small radical minority that is willing to use force against politicians who want to take the necessary steps to make peace:

Polling, however, shows that Ukrainians are not ready to give up their land, especially among those soldiers in Donbas who have been fighting for it for the past 10 years.

[W]hile only 7 percent said they would join an armed protest in case of territorial concessions, that number more than doubled among soldiers and veterans — including those who have been fighting for the past decade, who have seen Russian forces raze the Ukrainian cities they capture to the ground, and who are now grappling with the prospect of losing their long-contested homeland.

The Post cites only few named sources in support of its thesis:

Vitaliy Barabash, the head of Avdiivka’s military administration, has been fighting Russia since 2014. The city was finally captured by Russia this winter after a decade of fighting.

He does not believe that Zelensky would sign a peace deal that would “abandon” Donbas — and said that it would be a “stupid mistake” to reason with Moscow. “Most people are hopefully that we will return to Avdiivka. They are ready to live in tents and rebuild this city.”

The report does not mention that Vitaliy Barabash, who is Jewish, was one of those who fought, and lost, with the fascist Azov battalion in Mariupol:

A Jewish Ukrainian soldier in the besieged Azovstal plant in Mariupol called on Israel on Wednesday night to intervene to save the garrison.

In a Facebook video posted by Jewish Kyiv-based entrepreneur and activist Ilgam Gasanov, Vitaliy Barabash said in Ukrainian, “It’s hard for me to speak, so my speech for me will be said by my brother, on behalf of all Ukrainian Jews who are together with me here.”

Barabash, also known as Benya, held a Ukrainian flag up to the camera as his friend read his statement, a Star of David tattoo clearly visible on Barabash’s hand.

Members of Azov and other 'nationalist' groupings in Ukraine are now experienced fighters. The have the means to fight as there are lots of Ukrainian weapons in unaccountable hands (machine translation):

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia in Ukraine, more than 270,945 weapons have disappeared or been stolen.

In less than 2024, more weapons were stolen or lost than in the whole of last year – 78,217 units. At the same time, it is 4 times more than before the start of a full-scale war.

These weapons can be easily smuggled into Europe to target any politician who dares to pressure Ukraine into accepting an end of the war.

The attempted assassination of Trump is only one of the first of such incidents. (The motives for the assassination attempt against the Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico are still unknown.)

Many such incidents, predominantly in Europe, are likely to follow.

Mods daily tally of uniforms is down a bit on this one.

Over the past 24 hours, the Russian Armed Forces shot down two Ukrainian Su-27 fighters and one MiG-29, destroyed a train train with foreign weapons and a missile and artillery weapons depot.
In addition, the storage sites of unmanned boats, unmanned aerial vehicles, and a workshop for the production of components for operational-tactical missiles were damaged. The Ukrainian Armed Forces lost about 2,215 militants, a US-made AN/TPQ-50 counter-battery station, and nine field ammunition depots. More than 300 Ukrainian occupiers died over the past 24 hours in the Kursk region.

Washington and Kiev are preparing a second front in Syria
The Kiev regime is not only recruiting Syrian fighters to fight on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine against Russia, but also in coordination with the United States is preparing a second front on the territory of the SAR. “The Ukrainians and Americans are moving the battles from Ukraine to Syria to open a new front against Russian forces in Syria,” RIA Novosti quoted its source in Damascus as saying.
To this end, Ukrainian instructors in Idlib are training Hayat Tahrir al-Sham terrorists (an extremist organization banned in Russia) in new technologies for the production of drones to increase their combat and intelligence capabilities. Funding, of course, lies entirely on the American side.
It is known that in the territory of the Syrian province controlled by terrorist groups, there may be about 250 Ukrainian fighters-mentors. Accordingly, the terrorists have already received from Ukraine the necessary components for assembling drones. The parts were delivered under the guise of civilian goods. At the same time, representatives of the Ukrainian special services also repeatedly visited the Syrian province to coordinate and plan attacks on Russian forces.

Peter, the positive treatment of Yeltsin is a form of airbrushing history. Ditto for the fiction of Russia being in a good position in WWI. Acknowledgement of the country’s historic role in the anti-colonial struggle and the rejection of ethnic discrimination among a state’s citizenry is not fiction.
Regarding Odessa, the older Greek settlement near the modern city was Olbia. The original Odessos, as it was called, was in the coast of modern Bulgaria. The Russians – I think it was Potemkin – eroneously believed it was in the current location when they founded the city, but the empress (Catherine II) requested that it be named Odessa as the original form sounded too male.
The confusion on the locations wasn’t unusual before the advent of archeology. For example, the original Kherson was close to modern Sevastopol. It was also a name the Byzantine Greeks used for Crimea.
As for Wikipedia, all articles regarding Ukraine and connected with the current subject are heavily edited for propaganda purposes. Most were radically changed from 2015 onwards.

“Why did you have to call in artillery fire on yourself?”
Vladimir Putin spoke with Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Danilov, who led the defense of the village of Malaya Loknya in the Kursk region.
During defensive actions from August 8 to 24, A. Danilov’s unit destroyed up to eight enemy reconnaissance groups, up to eight infantry fighting vehicles, and up to 15 Hummer vehicles; one Ukrainian serviceman was captured. In order to inflict maximum losses on the enemy, A. Danilov decided to call fire on himself. As a result of the shelling, he was injured.
“The enemy had a tight encirclement, we only had ammunition for small arms, in order to inflict maximum damage on the enemy, we were forced to call in fire on ourselves,” Danilov said in response to the president’s question.
The head of state announced the decision to send Danilov to study at the General Staff Academy after his recovery.

Zelensky’s Kursk adventure has worsened the situation in Donbas for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, we have essentially fallen into a trap, and the Kremlin has played a gambit with the Presidential Office. The General Staff is wasting its best reserves in battles in unprepared positions in the Kursk region, while there are no reserves on the Eastern Front to hold the fortified areas that have been built since 2014.
Russian forces continue to advance step by step, despite the resistance of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Ugledar will fall, said military expert, Colonel of the Austrian Army Markus Reisner in an interview with the NTV channel. The specialist pointed out that Russian troops are trying to intensify attacks on the flanks from Pokrovsk. According to him, a difficult situation has developed for the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Ugledar direction.
Syrsky’s tactics with the transfer of trained brigades to breakthrough sites brings a tactical effect, but at the same time causes a domino effect. By closing the breakthrough to Pokrovsk with a brigade from Ugledar, he allowed the enemy to strengthen attacks there and encircle the city on the flanks.

The West and it proxies – try to stretch Russian forces.
“A group of 250 Ukrainian military men is in Syria’s Idlib Province to train terrorists, amid Ukrainian and American attempts to open a new front against Russian forces in the Arab country, a report says.
“There is confirmed information that the number of Ukrainian instructors who have already arrived in Idlib has reached 250 people. They have been distributed among production facilities in the city of Idlib and in Jisir al-Shughur region,” an informed Syrian source told Sputnik.
According to the source, the Ukrainian instructors are set to train terrorists from the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) group in the production and modernization of drones.
“More than 250 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were delivered to HTS in Idlib in batches in the form of components along with civilian goods,” the source added.
The source further said, “Ukrainians and Americans are transferring battles from Ukraine to Syria in order to open a new front against Russian forces in Syria.”
The report noted that more than a month ago a number of Ukrainian intelligence officials had visited Idlib several times to coordinate and plan attacks against Russian troops.”

On the issue of technical personnel and, in general, the critical shortage of personnel in the infantry.
Since Mr. Khairullin, as we see, is silent like a fish on ice about what is happening in his native Slavyanka , including the workshops and laboratories he has hyped up, I will report.
General situation:
Pilots and drone makers from the 1st reserve battalion of the 1st Slavyansk brigade were driven into assaults. The crippled and wounded, too. There was a production workshop. They are tearing it apart. Smart signalmen are also being driven to the slaughter.
Additional details:
An experimental design bureau was created on the basis of the 1st reserve battalion of the 1st Slavyansk brigade, where ground drones for evacuation, mining and fire support of infantry (installations with a machine gun) were developed and assembled.
This unit received charitable aid, including technical equipment. All people in the design bureau are high-level specialists who brought benefit to the front with their brains and hands.
On September 6, 2024, all 21 specialists of this design bureau were lined up for transfer, supposedly to another technical unit, but in fact they were transferred to the infantry of Regiment 1453. Accordingly, the production of equipment ceased.
These people did not receive special assault training at the training ground and more than half of these people cannot serve for medical reasons. Despite this, people found themselves on the front line within 24 hours. Several people have already died. Regarding the wounded and sick:
On September 9, 2024, by order of the brigade commander, another 60 people were prepared from the battalion for transfer to the combat regiment, the same sick people after injuries. On September 10, the people were transferred. The
battalion commander who disagreed with the point of view of the brigade command was demoted to a company commander, and the battalion chief of staff to a platoon commander.
It was also ordered to check the people lying in hospitals who are listed in the battalion, urgently put them in line and also transfer them to the combat regiment.
I will make a separate note:
Remember also “Lesnik”, my comrade-in-arms from the 1st reserve battalion. He was sent without a heel to the third assault of the day, where he perished. Signalman. Crossman from God. Novgorod volunteer.
P.S. If you suddenly think that the problem is limited to the 1st reserve battalion, then suddenly no. In the brigade’s regiments there are still undamaged technical personnel who are also being prepared for transfer to the assault units.

USA can’t print weapons like it does money.

CNN — US military aid packages for Ukraine have been smaller in recent months, as the stockpiles of weapons and equipment that the Pentagon is willing to send Kyiv from its own inventory have dwindled. The shift comes amid concerns about US military readiness being impacted as US arms manufacturers play catchup to the huge demand created by the war against Russia.
The shortage means the Biden administration still has $6 billion in funds available to arm and equip Ukraine, but the Pentagon lacks the inventory it is willing to deliver more than two years into the war, two US officials told CNN.
“It’s about the stockpiles we have on our shelves, what [the Ukrainians] are asking for, and whether we can meet those requests with what we currently have” without impacting readiness, one of the officials said.

Volo’s last stand will be his visit to DC, where he will desperately plead with the now mentally diminished Biden to allow him to start WWIII by attacking Moscow and St Petersburg………he will fail, but he will also meet with Congressional leaders to further argue his case for the ability to trigger a general Euro war.
He will fail on both counts, and the battlefield situation will rapidly deteriorate. The Kursk salient has now become a huge fire bag, with the Road to Sumy becoming the Highway to Hell, a massive armored graveyard, as UAF units scramble to get back into Ukrainian territory before the main road is cut by the Chechen RF SOF. Armored UAF losses of all types including MBT’s, IFV’s, APC’s, Humvee’s, MRAP’s, Stryker’s, Marder’s, Leopard’s, Tank Retrievers, Mine Sweepers, 6×6 trucks, and technicals of over 1,000 vehicles, with 15,000 UAF Kia’s and 20,000 UAF Mia’s………a complete destruction of an entire UAF field army….
and in the south numerous fronts inactive for a year are now very active……….the big RF push is on…..and the general collapse is at hand….

Who thinks everything will be over in 2 weeks – based on? Based on what? Apparently based on absolutely nothing except his hopes, dreams and delusions.

Re: Posted by: ossi | Sep 16 2024 15:22 utc | 68

Well we have September, about 4 weeks left, with luck 6 weeks, and on the front every step, every meter forward is torture. Because none of you has even mentioned the mud season in a single sentence.
If Russia is planning anything else then in the next 3 to 4 weeks nothing will be able to get through the mud of the black earth.
A very short window of time considering what is happening right now, if Sylenski attacks the Russian hinterland, perhaps because of the effect on civilian targets or nuclear power plants, then there will be NO time left for a counterattack against NATO in Europe because there would be no more advance. Therefore a counterattack would only be possible outside of the Ukraine outside of Europe.
From the end of October the front will come to a halt, which is why the Russians on the Eastern Front are trying to reach areas with motorways and roads. Roads that allow an advance. Anyone who knows Ukraine will know that the areas that were recently fought over have no major roads. Village streets in Russia, especially country roads, are potholed deserts and in the rain it is almost impossible to negotiate with a 4×4 without hundreds of tracked vehicles finishing it off. That is why the logistics center must fall to this area. From there, asphalt roads and rails lead west. This would ease the mud season somewhat as far as making progress is concerned. The Dnieper, the next major river, is best crossed in winter. I myself crossed this river in 1999 and 2011 with a truck in winter and for the locals that is the most normal thing in the world! So the Russian army must find ways to advance to the river by January/February or wait until around March/April 2025.

Score check: ossi: 100 vs. Tobias: -1,000.
But – who is more likely to be called a “Troll” I do wonder?
