Clock chip would not be a great idea, this doesn’t align with political developments and there is no way to ensure quick distribution.
Almost the entire strategic value is in creating confusion and burden right before an attack.
The reasons for not touching the batteries are nonsense for Li-Ion devices with custom batteries.

In short someone could create an aftermarket battery that listens to your iPhone and blows up if a certain emergency SMS arrives.
There are tons of triggers that could be used: GSM/Radio/VHF/SMS/Apps/Location/Time/power network frequency/OTA.
If done well and with some devices no physical modification besides a battery swap is required.
For the explosive, the easiest trigger cascade would be electric energy -> thermal runaway (oxidative energy) -> optional primer -> explosive.
A suitable explosive or primer could be added to the battery – just feels like a crappier battery like other knockoffs – not that suspicious.
The entire case or structural elements could be the explosive – no way to find out even by X-Ray.
And yes, Mossad will be entirely capable of ultrasonic welding or producing an identical case.

The Israelis are not idiots and suicides, they will have a plan to rock this thing.
The full fools are obviously with Hezbolla, how can they allow pagers to be bought from Taiwan and then distributed to end users without proper testing by specialists. The unfortunate victims of the terrible pager attack are mainly due to Hezbolla, because they did not prevent it.

It seems reasonable to speculate that there could be dissension, confusion, and lack of a clear policy direction at the top in Iran after the death of President Raisi in a helicopter crash (dot connecting, anyone?) in May, and the election of Mazoud Pezeshkian.
It seems to be unclear how much “popular support” Pezeshkian has, or how good a politician he is. If he doesn’t have clear support domestically he may be cautious. Wisely or unwisely so.
One advantage that Netanyahu has is that he is a “strong leader”—aka a type of dictator, fuehrer, or “dear leader”—when compared to the situation in both Iran and the USA. Of course he does appear to be making massive “mistakes.”
Time will tell.

I have to say, as a non ideological human observing events, that Israel is committing outrageous and horrifying crimes against humanity while pretending to be acting virtuously. Starvation sieges, indiscriminate bombing, deliberate destruction of infrastructure, use of torture camps, sexual assault..its the kind of butchers bill only an actual psychopath could countenance.
It’s a shameful, bloody spectacle. Religious supremacists murdering people for living on land they want to steal, and not even having the nerve to admit it. Westerners who speak out of conscience are suppressed by their governments and compliant media. The crimes of Israel surpass those of Nazi Germany, and the ending of the country will be similar.
Shame on you, terrorist Israel. You are not welcome in the fraternity of nations. History will not be kind to your bloody minded populace. And you do not speak for world Jewry, which you have appropriated for yourself as a cloak to shield your crimes. You speak only for Israelis.

All the Israelis have to do is throw the holocaust card and as far as the western press is concerned they are good to go for any and all atrocities and war crimes………….
