Israel’s Pager Attack – A Sophisticated One-Times Shot With Little Effect

Yesterday's terrorist attack by Israel against Hizbullah in Lebanon was quite sophisticated.

Back in February Hizbullah had urged its affiliates to avoid smart-phones, which can be controlled by foreign intelligence services, and to instead use pagers to receive text messages and alarms when necessary.

Israel must have recognized that suggestion as a chance to infiltrate the supply chain for these communication tools.

It somehow managed to manipulate pager shipments to Lebanon some of which would be acquired by Hizbullah and its affiliates. Yesterday specific encoded messages were sent to the manipulated pagers. Some moments later they started to blow up. Eleven people were killed and some 4,000 were wounded.

Not all people killed or wounded were members of Hizbullah. Pagers are also used by emergency and volunteer services. Western media avoid to call this attack a terrorist operation. But just ask yourself how they would describe the attack if this had happened to the other side of the conflict.

Pagers are not an exclusive means of Hizbullah. The attack was indiscriminate. The explosions happened in many situations of daily life – during visits in shops (vid), in driving cars in the middle of traffic, near to bystanders including children.

The pagers were sold under the brand name of Gold Apollo, a Taiwanese company specialized in such devices. But, according to the company, the devices sold in Lebanon were manufactured under license by the Hungarian company BAC Consulting KFT.

Lowkey writes:

The CEO and founder of BAC is Cristiana Arcidiacono-Barsony, who describes herself as a strategic adviser in internal affairs with international experience in the Middle East.

According to her academic profile she studied at SOAS and LSE universities in London.

The above points to an MI-6 involvement in the affair.

Elijah Magnier reports (vid) that the delivery of the pagers had been held up for several months by customs in a Middle Eastern country. The time was allegedly used by Israeli services to dismantle the devices and to replace their original Lithium-Ion batteries with ones which included explosives and birdshot to create a maximum of damage. The electronics of the devices were manipulated to trigger delayed explosions after the pager received a certain coded message.

This very sophisticated operations must have cost millions and must have involved a quite large number of specialists.

It would have been ideal for Israel to trigger such a mayhem as part of a general attack on Hizbullah. It would have increased Hizbullah's time to implement its defense plans.

To trigger the attack outside of a large scale war context is a rather limp maneuver. Most of the wounded will soon recuperate and return to their duties.

Israeli officials claim that they triggered the operation because some Hizbullah members had found out about the explosives and would soon alarm their leadership. It was thus a 'use it or lose it' situation.

That though does not sound plausible to me. How would Israel know that Hizbullah members found out about it? If they had so why would they not immediately inform their command of the imminent danger?

It is more plausible that the Netanyahoo government used the attack as a means to silence it critics which demand an all out attack on Hizbullah. The Israeli military and Netanyahoo know that a war with Hizbullah would be theirs to lose.

Now they can say: "See, we are already doing something very very serious …"

But that wad has been blown for little effect. It was a one time shot. They chances to repeat such an operation are close to nil.

Tomorrow Hizbullah leader Hassan Nasrallah will publicly offer more information about the incident and its possible consequences.

If any other country detonated semi-random, booby-trapped electronic personal devices, the US would immediately condemn this as a war crime and an illegal terrorist attack. Failure to do so now shows complicity.
The first effects are horrible of course, but what about the blow-back from this? For me, and probably for many others, the chance of buying western made network devices has dropped to zero. Buying Chinese all the way.
Congratulations western oligarchs, you have finally succeeded in sanctioning yourselves.

Long long time, forever and a day.
These types of international decisions simply show a path that is becoming possible.
100 years ago, who would have thought that the head of a sovereign state would have to restrict his travel to avoid being arrested?
These things will bear fruit, but for the next century, not ours. It doesn’t mean they are a waste of time as many short sighted people will think. They require major cultural changes that can’t be forced.

Because in one case it is true, and in the other it is not.
Zionists “declaring” something does not make it so.
You think Zionists “declaring” something to try to legitimize the genocide of Palestinians is the Word of God????
Israel is a thoroughly militarized society with all citizens (aside from Haredi) undergoing thorough military training and remaining in the reserves, hence being called in periodically for refresher training.
This is not the case among the Palestinians.
Israel is well supplied with weapons, including machinery such as bulldozers deployed as weapons, and many “civilians” (i.e., reservists) carry weapons.
This is not the case for Palestinians.

At which point India turns around and sells it to European countries that wish for Russia’s destruction. India makes a good penny and the European countries probably pay lower prices then usual. One the one hand we have the Palestinian people who, well, lived in Palestine. Worked in Palestine, had children in Palestine, and mothers, and grandmothers, and great grandmothers….you get my drift.
On the other hand, you have thousands of Ashkenasy Jews, born and raised in Europe, emigrating to Palestine and in short order, killing, raping, stealing, torturing, lying…their way into taking over that land with the full backing of the great powers of the world.
The adults who live in Israel surely know what that enterprise is all about. So, no civilians. The Israeli children are civilians. They could not choose where they were born. That’s all.

I really wish Hezbollah would give Bibi Miliekowsky the war he and his 3rd Temple loonies are looking for. Mekava tanks are headed to the North this evening and Israhell pulled it’s elite brigades out of Gaza to the North. About 10-20,000 IDF squatters.

Somebody in the first pager thread told me about some form of tiny electric caps used as igniters. the would also set a off a blasting cap. The caps I have seen are the ling narrow silver cylinder cup with only a small amount of something like mercury fulminate in the base. the rest of the metal case is for putting the fuse or det cord into. That miniature igniter plus that small amount of detonation explosive would be very small. Possibly the det explosive could be even less to set off a very small charge.

Re: Analysis of the text of the UNGA resolution (by Exile)
It’s a very hard hitting comphrensive resolution. It’s essentially the ICJ AO now affirmed by the internationally community.
The only item that is watered down versus the ICJ AO is the date of occupation. The ICJ AO was explicit referencing “pre-1949” as well as UNR 194 (1948). The UNGA resolution only mentions “1967”. My uneducated guess limiting to 1967 is for the UNSC and buttressing 242.
Lots of language affirming the ICJ AO defining Israel as an Apartheid State. This will have significant ramifications .
Also reparations for damages caused is further defined and affirms the ICJ AO
There are a long list of paragraphs prohibiting support of the occupation by 3rd party states.

@Kaspar

Strange. My experience working with Arabs in Gulf countries over several years is that they are generally smart. Maybe you guys have worked in areas that don’t require much intelligence?

I said they were incompetent, obsessed with hierarchy, and showed little initiative. These are cultural traits… though as I recall, the last time I looked at IQ charts for ME countries, they were all sub-90.
Furthermore, IQ follows a normal distribution, so obviously if a job calls for “much intelligence”, then the people doing it will all be far higher than average for their cohort, regardless of race.

Btw, average IQ in Israel is 92.

Yes, the Falasha, Mizrahim and Arab IQ drag the much higher Ashkenazi average downwards.

Depends on how many cells devices have. My phone and, modems I think, take 5 volt chargers so they are single cell. It also seems odd somethind that is built as compact as possible simply has standard cylinder cells/batteries rather than designed for some standard fitted type flat battery.
My thought is the would likely be some custom half size battery made, or possibly bought off the shelf with the same number of cells whether one or two as the original.

1/3 of nations did not support it.
No obligations on any one to act to stop it.

2. Demands that Israel brings to an end without delay its unlawful presence

The UNGA resolution affirms the ICJ AO which focused on the Occupation. The genocide question is also being addressed by the ICJ, separately.
If you think defining the Likud regime as running an Apartheid State with a 2/3s majority isn’t significant , well let’s just see how this current UN session pans out.
My prediction is by the end of this session – the Likud and the IDF will be designated Joint Criminal Enterprises by the internationally community. Familiarize yourself with the ramifications of that.

In the past I had doubts that Israel was involved with the explosion at the Beirut port. After these latest attacks, I tend to conclude that at least, Israel manipulated for the fertilizer to be stranded there. And mostly likely controlled the time of detonation as well.

We can argue about what kind of detonation that was, but there is no doubt Israel was behind it. After these latest attacks, it should be clear to everyone that there is no limit to what Israel might do, and events in recent years in many locations should be reviewed with that in mind.
As I have stated many times before on MoA, the killings of labour party politicians in Norway on 22. July 2011 (the so called “Breivik” event) was an Israeli operation. It was also claimed to involve fertilizer detonation of the government house, but the doubts are strong on that claim. Stoltenberg (as then PM) was in a central position, finding himself as General Secretary of NATO a couple of years later. And look what he has done in that job.

Also see this photo of an exploded pager battery. If the description is correct, all the planted electronics, including the receiver, were hidden in the metal case of the battery.
❗️ New image of a battery in Lebanon that was not in any device and exploded by itself.

Very interesting, thanks for that. If that is true and representative of the devices that exploded, it does explain how this could have been done with any device requiring a battery.

Thanks. Now I know what the two pins are that the wiring connects to. I pulled a unused unit out of my car not long back to access the area behind it.
I should pull one out of a unit test it. When I was reading up on the units prior to removing, the blast of the charge going can cause hearing damage/ear damage. It may we be something like a miniature lasting cap that is simply called and igniter.
If so, something like that or a little larger may be all that’s required.

My historical knowledge is limited, so please correct me if I am wrong.
But isn’t this the first time in history?
Here is the first time a state has carried out the horrible act of planting bombs in civilian electrical goods and blowing them up en masse.
They include Taiwan, Japan and Hungary, which were named as the location of the companies and the countries they belong to.
This means that by the time the products reached Lebanon, the major part of production and distribution occurred within the region known as the West allaiance.
I cannot help but feel that this incident has had its fair share of impact on global consumer behaviour and has greatly undermined the willingness to use western electrical products.
I’m concerned about the sales of IT and telecommunications products in the next year and beyond.

Those of you who are implying that this is a disabling event on Party manpower are not thinking clearly. It is said to have forty to one hundred thousand fighters. Assume that all the casualties are Party fighters (they weren’t). So, now they have some 37 to 97 thousand under arms. The more serious operational effect is that the Party may now for a short time be out of effective communications across the country.

🇮🇱🇱🇧🇭🇺According to three intelligence sources, the Hungarian paging company that produced the walkie-talkies was created by Israel with the aim of harming Hezbollah. There were two other such companies whose purpose was also to conceal the fact that the pagers were made by Israeli intelligence officers. The Hungarian company accepted regular customers and produced regular pagers for them. The Hezbollah members’ pagers were made separately and with explosives in the batteries – and began to be supplied to Lebanon in 2022.

For the Darwinists who measure human achievement by wealth and property, and the survival of the cleverest to make dirty bombs and metaphorical dirty bombs called lies, and who sold Usukis Pagers to Muslims on the good name of Islam, pray, continue to your destination where you will find your reward of eternal damnation.
Politics will make you not only wealthy, but rich in self-satisfaction, the pride of shaytan.
As I said before, Jewish madness is caused by their failure through 1000s of years of possessing their land totem, Palestine. Jews are only Muslims who have lost Islam. Political Islam follows their trail like trained bloodhounds.
Brainless people who measure the Palestinians as gullible for allowing g themselves to be bulldozed out of their land should understand that Muslims are not measured by God by the same yardstick as the Jewish heathens measure them.
Hisbullah are not being given naive to trust electronic devices purportedly made in China. USUKIS is being naive to think that they can force God to give them their totem, Jerusalem by war and deception or that ownership of Palestine will give them the keys of Paradise.
Political Islam is just following the well trodden path of Jewish and Christian, Pagan materialism.
They might not get their hands blown off by dodgy pagers, but at the end of this path squats shaytan, saying
You are my mountain of disbelievers who I tricked from the straight path of Islam.
Naivety is not being tricked by dodgy pagers. Naivety is being tricked into wanting useless power that God, sensibly , hasn’t given them.

One thing the exploding pager episode has highlighted is the inadequacy of the Press.
The story is told emotionally with little or no actionable information. The Press is good for nothing more than reporting on Hollywood celebrities or sporting events.
Practically nothing of concrete interest is ever exposed. Entertainment only, not for education.
If the media’s goal is to make people stupider, they have succeeded.

@MotoFoure,
Re: crippling the Lebanese. With a population close to 5 million, if we take half as male, 2.5 million, take out children, at least 1.5 million, the few thousand maimed are minimal. And perhaps it is an indicator that a small number of Lebanese are part of the Hezbollah militia. Most of the injured and dead appear to be civilians and why go on to target solar panels etc.?
The most logical reason as some have said, is that the explosions were meant to coincide with an Israeli attack and either the attack was cancelled or there was a stuff up and the explosions happened when they should not have done. Either way a major failure on the part of the Israelis because this terrorism will only alienate them more in global opinion.

Sounds like a high-tech threat from 80’s generic dystopian sci-fi, i.e fairly obsolete by today’s standards, where people are getting inoculated with designer vaccines and all water and food contains microplastics. Releasing a remote-controlled kill-trigger via self-replicating nanomachines into the wild strikes me as being well within range of current technology.

Absolutely, the lack of long-term vision of the current USUKIS is astonishing. Don’t they feel that our future standing is getting worse and worse?
US leaders had often taken on Cuba and North Korea and portrayed them as the pariah state, but it looks like we’re on the road to becoming the international pariah sooner or later.
I don’t have any superior insight , but my impression is that this act will not be taken lightly outside of the West.
Because Not many people would willingly get along with a region that might put bombs in the consumer electronics they buy from.
The definition of the word “soft power” should also be rewritten from meaning getting good reputation from entertainment and cultur to meaning getting disrepect from usage of literal malicious programme code planted in devices.
This new definition is better suited to our real impact on the world in the future.

Jake Blanchard | Sep 18 2024 23:20 utc | 447

Imo, the primary purpose of the pager explosions was not to kill, or even injure so much as to “mark” Hezbollah operatives.

And in IMHO, the primary purpose of the pager explosions was to injure and incapacitate medical personal and clog Lebanese hospitals with injured civilians so that when the IDF invades it will maximise the death toll since injured fighters and civilians won’t be able to get timely and effective treatment.
I base this on two factors:
i) The primary users of pagers are hospitals and medical personnel. Even if you think that the report that ten days ago the Beirut American Hospital collected and replace their staffs’ pagers is just a coincidence, it confirms that Lebanese hospitals use pagers.
ii) The IDF has a well documented propensity of targeting hospitals, ambulances, and medics in general.
If Mossad thinks that everyone who was injured in the pager attack is a member of Hezbollah, it’s only because they have redefined “Hezbollah” to mean any non-Israeli living on any territory in Lebanon they wish to claim for themselves. Just as they have redefined “terrorist” to mean any non-Israeli (including new-born babies) living on any territory in Gaza or the West Bank they wish to claim.

That’s exactly what I was imputing based on credible reports I read soon afterwards that the explosive pagers WERE IN FACT a particular batch made for and/or modified for Hezbollah. Apparently THEY WERE a highly encrypted network of organisational comms. Please, it’s not my fantasy.
Initial reports said that about all 3000 of the pager explosions happenned in the southern regions of Lebanon only, areas known as “Hezbollah strongholds”. Apparently, 2000 identical pagers of a 5000 batch were not rigged and went to “normal” Leb buyers. So it looks like purchase and distribution was specifically towards internal Hezbollah operatives [NOTE: I DID NOT SAY MILITARY] and sympathisers. For example, a hospital eye surgeon was affected. That indicates to Mossad that he got his via the specific Hezbollah shipment, and although civilian, as Hezbollah’s “friend” he deserved that reward. THAT’S not my invention — that’s Israel’s rational. They’ve said as much.
But fuck this. I’m out of this shit thread. 500+ fucking posts arguing and counter-arguing about snippets of semi-factual information gleened from google and varied dodgy news sources, myself included. Stick all your conjectures up your arse.

If outsourcing is a must, then only buy from those nations you can trust like China and Russia.

Not even that. China and Russia are not paradises of honesty. They have criminal and corrupt elements that can be used, and state organizations that seek the best for their state structures. Fact is, sovereignty taken seriously means your nation must have food security, water security, energy security, technical security, border security, and cultural security, in a few words, whole spectrum security. Those states that do not achieve whole spectrum security, are vassals of larger states to a certain extent, quite often to a large extent.

Here is reportedly the financial sheet of the said BAC company: https://t.me/prchand/9504
For years this mighty industrial company had ONE employee who received ZERO salary.
This hints at a shell company (or should we say, condom company), only created to be assigned nominal blame for all the surfaced transgressions from the real criminal and be thrown away.
Also, reportedly (Al Jazeera) the fabrication of pager-bombs started 5 months ago, after Knesset representatives visited Taiwan and promised them Israel would recognize their sovereignty. So much for empty promises…
