Israel’s Pager Attack – A Sophisticated One-Times Shot With Little Effect

Yesterday's terrorist attack by Israel against Hizbullah in Lebanon was quite sophisticated.

Back in February Hizbullah had urged its affiliates to avoid smart-phones, which can be controlled by foreign intelligence services, and to instead use pagers to receive text messages and alarms when necessary.

Israel must have recognized that suggestion as a chance to infiltrate the supply chain for these communication tools.

It somehow managed to manipulate pager shipments to Lebanon some of which would be acquired by Hizbullah and its affiliates. Yesterday specific encoded messages were sent to the manipulated pagers. Some moments later they started to blow up. Eleven people were killed and some 4,000 were wounded.

Not all people killed or wounded were members of Hizbullah. Pagers are also used by emergency and volunteer services. Western media avoid to call this attack a terrorist operation. But just ask yourself how they would describe the attack if this had happened to the other side of the conflict.

Pagers are not an exclusive means of Hizbullah. The attack was indiscriminate. The explosions happened in many situations of daily life – during visits in shops (vid), in driving cars in the middle of traffic, near to bystanders including children.

The pagers were sold under the brand name of Gold Apollo, a Taiwanese company specialized in such devices. But, according to the company, the devices sold in Lebanon were manufactured under license by the Hungarian company BAC Consulting KFT.

Lowkey writes:

The CEO and founder of BAC is Cristiana Arcidiacono-Barsony, who describes herself as a strategic adviser in internal affairs with international experience in the Middle East.

According to her academic profile she studied at SOAS and LSE universities in London.

The above points to an MI-6 involvement in the affair.

Elijah Magnier reports (vid) that the delivery of the pagers had been held up for several months by customs in a Middle Eastern country. The time was allegedly used by Israeli services to dismantle the devices and to replace their original Lithium-Ion batteries with ones which included explosives and birdshot to create a maximum of damage. The electronics of the devices were manipulated to trigger delayed explosions after the pager received a certain coded message.

This very sophisticated operations must have cost millions and must have involved a quite large number of specialists.

It would have been ideal for Israel to trigger such a mayhem as part of a general attack on Hizbullah. It would have increased Hizbullah's time to implement its defense plans.

To trigger the attack outside of a large scale war context is a rather limp maneuver. Most of the wounded will soon recuperate and return to their duties.

Israeli officials claim that they triggered the operation because some Hizbullah members had found out about the explosives and would soon alarm their leadership. It was thus a 'use it or lose it' situation.

That though does not sound plausible to me. How would Israel know that Hizbullah members found out about it? If they had so why would they not immediately inform their command of the imminent danger?

It is more plausible that the Netanyahoo government used the attack as a means to silence it critics which demand an all out attack on Hizbullah. The Israeli military and Netanyahoo know that a war with Hizbullah would be theirs to lose.

Now they can say: "See, we are already doing something very very serious …"

But that wad has been blown for little effect. It was a one time shot. They chances to repeat such an operation are close to nil.

Tomorrow Hizbullah leader Hassan Nasrallah will publicly offer more information about the incident and its possible consequences.

Comes the evolution, the U$$A AirFARCE will promptly be shitcanned. In contrast to the older services; the AirFARCE has long been under full operative control by the likes of Curtis LeMay and Nathan Twining…both of them having been psychopathic mass-murderers, delightedly carrying out orders from their ultimate shotcallers in City of London and Wall $treet.
The same types of psychopathic killers ran the shows in both Vietnam with their napalm, white phosphorous and Agent Orange; as well as in the Gulf Wars where retreating Iraqi Republican Guard forces were “treated” with low-frequency radio broadcasts of “The Voice of Allah” targeting their lizard-brains…the first massive use of psychotronic weaponry. Thousands of R.G. men were deliberately slaughtered as they kneeled on their prayer mats by “Puff the Magic Dragon” and similar AirFARCE weaponry of mass-destruction. U.$. Army engineers then took on the task of bulldozing out mass graves and still living survivors of the aerial assaults were, along with the numerous dead, dozed into those deep trenches.
The missile which hit the Pentagon during the 911 In$ide Job was likely yet another AirFarce strike.
A genuinely American evolutionary government will drop the AirFARCE like a hot potato. It is not unlikely that some of the worst perps amongst those psychopaths will duly face firing-squads.

A thrity-something engineer in 1980 would be seventy-something today. Current Iranian engineers would be in their 30s-50s, educated well after the Revolution and Iraq-Iran War. Of course, the Iranian industrial base needed to be modernized for modern equipment to be produced.

NVA/VC tunnel complexes were hand dug whereas today’s are made with machines making it possible for them to be deeper, bigger, and stronger. Their overall design also needs to be mindful of entry and exit point visibility from space. Of course, you’d also build some decoys.

Those highly trained Iranians who deserted to the West…particularly the U$$A…would have included a high proportion of Quisling types…highly westernized in their perspectives.
Whether or not they were the majority amongst the self-exiled cannot be proven either way, as numerous Iranians who had become less welded to religious precepts, particularly Bahais and Gays, had to be impulsed to get the hell outta Dodge while the getting was good.

terrorism /tĕr′ə-rĭz″əm/
noun
1 – The use of violence or the threat of violence, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political goals.
2 – The act of terrorizing, or state of being terrorized; a mode of government by terror or intimidation.
3 – The practise of coercing governments to accede to political demands by committing violence on civilian targets; any similar use of violence to achieve goals.
4 – The deliberate commission of an act of violence to create an emotional response through the suffering of the victims in the furtherance of a political or social agenda.
5 -Violence against civilians to achieve military or political objectives.
6 – A psychological strategy of war for gaining political or religious ends by deliberately creating a climate of fear among the population of a state.
7 – The calculated use of violence (or the threat of violence) against civilians in order to attain goals that are political or religious or ideological in nature; this is done through intimidation or coercion or instilling fear.
Terrorism primarily targets civilians. Terrorism is committed in order to coerce an individual or an entire population towards the political objectives of the perpetrator.
Terrorism is primarily a tool of Government or well developed organisations that want to have their policies implemented after facing popular resistance to those policies.
Terrorism will normally always be accompanied, either immediately or at a later stage, with an ultimatum issued from the perpetrator.

I really don’t know, but I’m very curious.
That’s precisely what I’d like to know – how was this possible?
I mean, for single devices, meant for targeting specific individuals, it’s of course possible and feasible.
But for thousands of devices?
This would – IMO – mean the collaboration of a third country (or multiple). My feeling says Jordan, but that’s just a feeling and I can’t back up my claim.

This is a huge undertaking with planning and production lines, and it was kept secret. Only the maniacs in the US, UK and Israel could do it. Blinken has already denied involvement, so I guess the opposite is true.

Such mass attacks are obviously highly sophisticated & ‘targeted,’ yet resulting in injury to thousands, including maimings & other serious permanent harm. It’s effectively a ghost-in-the-machine/telemetric Oct 7. Yet Mossad couldn’t foresee one physically being planned under their noses (no pun intended)? If Mossad can do the former, in this particular context, could it not have anticipated and indeed predicted the latter with something approaching equal or surpassing accuracy?

Yep. It’s the scale of this terrorist attack that makes it frightening.
It has now become a sad reality that we have to open our electronic gimmicks to check for hidden explosives. There is a bit of hyperbole to that statement, but in essence it seems to be true.
It is not that important *who* was behind these attacks (we know already) and for what purposes it was done (we also know already), but it is important to know *how* they did it and what help they got from other countries or entities.
We truly live in a total clown world. It’s sad.

That would be completely toothless. Only a successful Security council can do that then a UN force or single country or group of countries can act. The US and UK would of course veto that the same as they do or would do on a resolution to recognize a Palestinian government.
UNSG I think has passed a resolution on recognizing a Palestinian government, but recognition only occurs after the security council okays it.

P.S. Isn’t this effectively Mossad’s ‘Nordstream moment’ where it outs itself as the aggressor to itself or allies, mutatis mutandis, by revealing the scale, range, and supposed exactitude of its capabilities? Perhaps the analogy is not exact, as the victim in the present instance was a ‘clear’ enemy, but if the purpose is to fabricate an enemy attack that justifies several magnitude orders of escalation (i.e. the siege of Gaza by much of the might of the IDF) then the analogy between Nordstream and Oct 7 is sound, and the capacity for the present self-admitted and self-admiring attack ‘against Hezbollah’ becomes an open and undisguised destruction of Nordstream.

B says this attack has little effect. I disagree in the short term. It will completely shake up how communication is done and the widespread injuries will identify previously unknown members of Hizbullah.
Those are real issues.
B is probably right that in the long term, barring total war, nothing will be gained or loss.
But speaking of total war, it is interesting in parallel with Ukraine, not to change this to a Ukraine topic.
Russia is stating clearly: This land is ours, and we will go to war to control it. If you’re not willing to commit to total war, then we will take it even at great cost.
Neither Israel nor Hizbullah nor Hamas nor Iran nor ANY faction in the Middle East has the ability to simply exert their will like Russia, China, or the USA.
So what is the long term answer?
If there is no political solution, then the solution MUST be war. And if the solution is war, then lets get on with it and get a solution one way or the other.
When the solution is well satisfied, then one small part of the world may attain peace for some generations.

If iPhones are exploding I would look at the market for second hand batteries first. Probably any lithium battery has charging controllers that can be backdoored through side channel attacks – any morse code signal in the surrounding circuits could be picked up, making this pretty universal.
If China is smart the West better starts watching out for smart tech coming in from now on.
As to the reason for the attack I would wager Nutty has Israel now solidly locked into a northern war, attention diverted from Hamas and hostages as well as a whole generation of Hezbollah hate ensured.

Not battery fires. all these devises exploding have explosives installed. Apparently a large solar battery has also exploded. the report up thread said thousands injured. That I doubt but if there were a large number injured, it likely had explosives in it.
Large battery fires can be like a small explosion. Much higher velocity flame jets plus the pressure build up in the steel case would cause a mild explosion when the case burst.

UN overwhelmingly backs Palestinian resolution to end Israeli occupation

The resolution put forward by Palestine calls for Israeli settlers to be removed from the areas occupied by Israel in 1967; divestment from Israeli entities profiting from that land; and compensation for Palestinians who have been living under Israeli military occupation.

https://www.middleeasteye.net/news/unga-overwhelmingly-votes-support-palestinian-call-end-israeli-occupation
Comment: this UNGA resolution passed with more than 2/3s in favor. It’s also much MUCH milder than the ICJ AO that inspired it. The AO had three significant findings:
1) the Likud runs an Apartheid state
2) Evacuation of territories “pre-1949” ASAP
3) Reparations for damages etc since 1948
Because this has 2/3s UNGA support, its a whole new ball game.

People talk about it. Countries vote. The majority of those countries want the Palestinians to be treated fairly and the genocide to stop, even if the criminal minority wants it to continue. International law is decided in the UN. There is an ongoing process now.
Pointing out important facts is very important in order to make progress.

I expect a good deal of sniping on this post and do not care.
The entire pager incident does not feel like a state action that has had full institutional review and bureaucratic process. More like the action of a cabal, a clique, a club. Yes, the instigators are supremely well connected and can make complex events unfold. I am sensing a small group of plotters and a short distance from conception to implementation. Jolly rogues and chaps in leather armchairs with gin & tonic at hand. And no one to stop them from unleashing chaos. Much more like a failed state unable to discipline the chaps than a rogue state.

> Yesterday specific encoded messages were sent to the manipulated pagers.
No, B. You miss some detail…
With pagers you do not need “messagES”, you only have to send ONE single message to the network, that proverbial “skies are clear over all Spain”, and you can send it to ANY pager number, and then all the “infected” pagers set off.
To do such a thing with phones (assuming no internet-programs running), you would have to make thousands SMS messages, one per phone, and then send it. This would be very costly, very suspicious (anti-spam would block you), and would create a “paper trail” – the police would be able to find persons who sent SMSes to the exploded phones.
With pagers – there is nothing like that. A single message sent to any unrelated number would strill trigger all the pager-bombs. And there would be no way for police to connect (less so prove) the “bomb operator” to the explosions. No trail, no link, no anomalies.
This terr-act was implemented really professionally. Hisbollah had to think in advance what pager networks are and how easily those could be abused…
…for those too young to remember pagers, google for any article about eavesdropping ALL the pagers using a computer with any cheap SDR

Thanks. On the pagers, when I looked up BAC manufacturing sites in Europe, they had one in Belgium, one in Italy, and one I think in Spain. None in Hungary. Likely a consultancy office in every country including Germany.

I surmise an RF Blocker (metallized sheath in the device holder) might have prevented reception of the trigger signal, similar to the way RF Blockers over credit cards stop retail scanners from remotely sucking up credit card info.

The sadic sionist state has made explode the walki-talkies at the time of many burials of people murdered yesterday in the pagers’ attack, to maximise the number of killed + wounded.
All the social platforms are weapons to destabilize countries, all the western search engines and in general all the western hardware and software are weapons in the hands of the Empire to manage the Global Empire. The PRISM uncovered by Snowden show all the western corporations are fully integrated in the Empire Military Complex, in fact many of them are start-ups of the DARPA and other military iniciatives from the 80´s and 90´s, so this is the peak of iceberg.
In the case of a war between the Empire (US + vassals) against China we will the same we are seeing in Lebanon but 10.000x, because all the countries, except Afghanistan and Yemen are or have been fully dependent of wester technology in the civilian sector (the sector that will be attacked)

Whether or not they were the majority amongst the self-exiled cannot be proven either way, as numerous Iranians who had become less welded to religious precepts, particularly Bahais and Gays, had to be impulsed to get the hell outta Dodge while the getting was good.

thank you and Karloff for your responses. The reason I asked was that I personnally know one person who left. I know it’s a non-representative statistical sample of one, but my geophysics professor in grad school was Iranian and apparently was pretty high up in the Shah’s government, something that would be equivalent to a department or cabinet level position here in the U.S. He taught at some high-powered schools but ended up at our school because his wife was a gynecologist and made even more money than he did. So much for personal anecdotes…

Hezballah aknowledges 5 martyrs today. They are in a link posted previously, none seem to be high rank, some are young. Meaning almost two thirds of fourteen martyred are so far not known as part of military. Then there are the blinded, a wedding couple was one example. Today’s explosions were stronger apparently, here filmed from outside an appartment block (not graphic)

I looked up the news report on the boat incident. Dated May 31, 2023.
Possibly connected. We don’t know when the batch was ordered, but manufacturing time, shipping time plus some month in customs in middle east country, plus they have been in Lebanon for some time.
About the right time period and although ordered through the consultancy in Hungary (if report is correct), may well have been manufactured at the plant in Italy and that is where the spooks would need to be, not at the consultancy in Hungary.

Its been reported that the explosive used in the pagers was undetectable by current airport screening protocols. That is going to make the boarding process for commercial flights suck even more.

If PETN was used as has been reported in some places, it would be hard to find. It has extremely low vapor pressure so bomb dogs don’t alert for it. Is easily molded so easy to trick xrays etc.
It can be tested for with a wipe off skin/clothes.
However, that just means the container needs to be cleaned and the transporting person needs to be clean with uncontaminated clothes.
PETN has quite a famous history of being used in terrorist acts.

I get most of my info on the Mideast from Al Jazeera. I find it interesting that in all of its reporting on both the pager and now today’s attack, they preface their story with , “pagers used by Hezbollah members”. Al Jezeera has no problem with reporting innocent civilians as being victims of the Israeli attacks. Yet in 0 of the news post I’ve read on their site have talked about people being indiscriminately injured by the pager explosions. From the news they are reporting this looks like a very targeted attack on individuals who serve Hezbollah.

Hezb still is intact and still has missiles which have proven the Israel AD ineffective, nothing has changed in this regard. Especially if Iran joins in. They can easily obliterate Israel, including every city and base if they want to. It’s just the timing and will.

Everyone already sees them as rapey genocidal baby killers, and then they have to go and commit this weird terror attack in the creepiest way possible and freak everyone out, to no clear and meaningful strategic gain. They’re so creepy they can’t stop themselves from always choosing the creepiest course of action.

Ok! It is on the list to consider.
How about Bitdefender VPN?

Bitdefender Premium VPN uses VPN provider Hotspot Shield’s tech for its protocol, which is the purpose built and impressive Catapult Hydra protocol. It’s just the apps you work through which are Bitdefender designed. From a privacy perspective, it’s just the tech being used, and no data is shared with Hotspot Shield.

However…

One notable partnership that has impacted Bitdefender’s ownership is the collaboration with Europol’s European Cybercrime Centre (EC3). This partnership aims to combat cybercrime by jointly developing tools and methodologies to investigate and prevent online threats. By working closely with EC3, Bitdefender has gained access to valuable insights and resources, strengthening its position in the cybersecurity industry.

Europol’s European Cybercrime Centre (EC3) is in today’s news.
https://www.computerweekly.com/news/366611232/Europol-provides-detail-on-Ghost-encrypted-comms-platform-takedown

According to superintendent Marie Eve Lavallée of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, further technical expertise was provided by high-level organised crime investigators and cyber crime specialists from Canada, who “pioneered” a new technique for the acquisition of data from encrypted networks.
“This technique allowed investigators to seize the digital evidence that was essential for all members of the OTF,” she said, adding this collaboration between the law enforcement partners “enables us to innovate with modern investigation techniques to intercept, locate and decrypt messages linked to illicit activities on
hardened secure communication platforms”.

The fascist noose is tightening.

Do we call this IDF action war crimes by the blizzard?
Over 4K maimed, most of which we of course are civilians, and most of those are medical professionals – doctors, nurses, EMT’s, ambulance drivers, etc., etc. who extensively use pagers.
No one should be the least bit surprised by the IDF actions if one remembers that the IDF has already murdered or maimed thousands of doctors, nurses, EMT’s, ambulance drivers in Gaza and the West Bank, including the deliberate attacks on dozens of hospitals and clinics…….more obvious war crimes.
The Israeli government and the War Mongers Cabinet has gone full rogue, absolutely insane……a general ME war against Israel is moving very quickly now toward initiation………with Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Iran, SA, Yemen, the Houthis, Hamas, PIJ, PFLP and possibly Jordan and Turkey……….still it will be a shitstorm and I pity the poor Palestinian folks trapped in southern Lebanon, and Judea and the Galilee Valley who will be attacked relentlessly by crazed Israeli settlers (now armed to the teeth and enabled fully by the Bibi War Cabinet).
If I held an Israeli passport I would be booking out to London or NYC tonight……..no targets in Israel will be spared now…..its a general war without rules…………….sad and alarming…
