Israel's Pager Attack - A Sophisticated One-Times Shot With Little Effect
Yesterday's terrorist attack by Israel against Hizbullah in Lebanon was quite sophisticated.
Back in February Hizbullah had urged its affiliates to avoid smart-phones, which can be controlled by foreign intelligence services, and to instead use pagers to receive text messages and alarms when necessary.
Israel must have recognized that suggestion as a chance to infiltrate the supply chain for these communication tools.
It somehow managed to manipulate pager shipments to Lebanon some of which would be acquired by Hizbullah and its affiliates. Yesterday specific encoded messages were sent to the manipulated pagers. Some moments later they started to blow up. Eleven people were killed and some 4,000 were wounded.
Not all people killed or wounded were members of Hizbullah. Pagers are also used by emergency and volunteer services. Western media avoid to call this attack a terrorist operation. But just ask yourself how they would describe the attack if this had happened to the other side of the conflict.
Pagers are not an exclusive means of Hizbullah. The attack was indiscriminate. The explosions happened in many situations of daily life - during visits in shops (vid), in driving cars in the middle of traffic, near to bystanders including children.
The pagers were sold under the brand name of Gold Apollo, a Taiwanese company specialized in such devices. But, according to the company, the devices sold in Lebanon were manufactured under license by the Hungarian company BAC Consulting KFT.
Lowkey writes:
The CEO and founder of BAC is Cristiana Arcidiacono-Barsony, who describes herself as a strategic adviser in internal affairs with international experience in the Middle East.According to her academic profile she studied at SOAS and LSE universities in London.
The above points to an MI-6 involvement in the affair.
Elijah Magnier reports (vid) that the delivery of the pagers had been held up for several months by customs in a Middle Eastern country. The time was allegedly used by Israeli services to dismantle the devices and to replace their original Lithium-Ion batteries with ones which included explosives and birdshot to create a maximum of damage. The electronics of the devices were manipulated to trigger delayed explosions after the pager received a certain coded message.
This very sophisticated operations must have cost millions and must have involved a quite large number of specialists.
It would have been ideal for Israel to trigger such a mayhem as part of a general attack on Hizbullah. It would have increased Hizbullah's time to implement its defense plans.
To trigger the attack outside of a large scale war context is a rather limp maneuver. Most of the wounded will soon recuperate and return to their duties.
Israeli officials claim that they triggered the operation because some Hizbullah members had found out about the explosives and would soon alarm their leadership. It was thus a 'use it or lose it' situation.
That though does not sound plausible to me. How would Israel know that Hizbullah members found out about it? If they had so why would they not immediately inform their command of the imminent danger?
It is more plausible that the Netanyahoo government used the attack as a means to silence it critics which demand an all out attack on Hizbullah. The Israeli military and Netanyahoo know that a war with Hizbullah would be theirs to lose.
Now they can say: "See, we are already doing something very very serious ..."
But that wad has been blown for little effect. It was a one time shot. They chances to repeat such an operation are close to nil.
Tomorrow Hizbullah leader Hassan Nasrallah will publicly offer more information about the incident and its possible consequences.

Its was a terrorist attack by the Zionists - yet watching the English propaganda machine the BBC - you'd have thought that these people blew themselves up - as their was very little mention, of what really happened.
I might have known the English security services were involved - much of what ails the world today - is down to the belligerent actions of the UK and the USA.

It is my understanding that the pagers used standard AA or AAA batteries and that high explosive was added.
All the pagers I have seen used standard off the shelf disposable batteries.
But just to be sure; I am turning off all automatic updates on all my devices.

There has been extensive discussion of the technicalities on the previous thread. I have not read all of it. So maybe this question has been answered. But why those cumbersome pagers? Highly end-to-end encrypted mobile phones exist. Even smartphones can be used with open source linux OS and open source highly encrypted messengers like Wired. If the phone is chinese made then USrael would have a very hard time hacking into it. It takes a little effort, but it is vastly superior to pagers in terms of the level of possible communication .

Shipment witheld in un-named middle eastern country for months (where likely modified)

From Pepe Escobar's TG channel
THE MOSSAD-MI6 CONNECTION
This is deliciously intriguing; it comes from a very well-informed Russian intel source.
So the story goes that the head of MI6 Richard Moore ordered his spooks - in Hungary - to put explosives in the pagers in case Hezbollah got "out of control”.But" among the English T.E. Lawrences", there were not only friends of Israel, but also enemies of Moore. They handed over the alarm code to the Mossad. So, "without hesitation, they neutralized all of Moore's agents with one blow."
This might indeed be directly linked to the Brit nest of spiders. There won’t be a smoking gun, of course. What is already happening is the whole Brit press hysterically stating this was just a tricky Mossad op - and MI6 was not involved at all."This is how the legend of the omnipotence of the Mossad” continues.

Civilian officials such as MPs in the Hizbollah political party are not combatants. Also Being a paid up member of a political party does not make one a combatant.
Being an active member of the military wing of Hezbollah certainly does make one a combatant.
There is a grey area with reserve soldiers off duty.
Finally, Micheal72 posted some illuminating passages from a treaty/convention agreed to by the U.S. and Israel …..booby traps can not be indiscriminate nor can one booby trap items which might be picked up by children or civilians (toys for example).

The good news about short-term predictions is that they can be verified.
We will see what the effect is on Hezbollah's ability to strike back at Israel. The jury is out, for a few weeks.
If we see a massive rocket attack on Israel from Lebanon, we'll have our answer. Keep in mind also that allies like AnsarAllah were unaffected and are unlikely not to respond.
However, in the past attacks to kill individuals haven't shown the ability to change the course of events. Did killing Soleimani stop October 7th? Or bring peace to the ME?
We also don't know the ratio of "high value" targets killed/maimed to civilians. It might be 1:100 or it might be higher. As I speculated earlier, Israel would be wise to follow this up with some probe to test the capability of Hezbollah's defenses. If they don't, then this may be a one-off as B is theorizing, to take some heat off of Netanyahu.

The Lebanese Minister of Health announces the most recent tally of casualties from the Israeli terror attack, including the number of injured and martyrs, in a press conference in Beirut.
Lebanon's Minister of Health, Firas al-Abiad, announced that the number of martyrs from the Israeli aggression on Lebanon has risen to 12, "including two children and several healthcare workers."
The total number of injured, the minister explained, is estimated to be between 2,700 and 2,800, with 1,850 in Beirut and its southern suburbs, 750 in the south, and 150 in the Bekaa region.
Al-Abiad noted that "1,800 injured individuals required hospitalization yesterday, with 10% of them in critical condition.".....

I also disagree with 'little effect' b, but thank you for presenting this as a separate subject. It was terrorism which can be understood by all who have such devices, so an immediate connection for many to perhaps a far away place. Two toddlers were killed. That wouldn't seem like much as far as tragedies go these days , but since it involved innocents and their wounds were not minor, as often such devices are in pockets - I saw a video which seemed inaccurate in that it claimed the devices are Motorola, so I didn't post it last night - but it was saying that Israelis were boasting about what they had done.
The effect was, and ought to be, one of horror.

Why should Putin or anybody else trust a guy who sold out to one party in a conflict in which Hungary has no stake? It wasn't a smart move. "How would Israel know that Hizbullah members found out about it? If they had so why would they not immediately inform their command of the imminent danger?"
In an effort to target Hizbullah members, the ideal system would have included tracking of the pagers, including such basics as whether or not they were even turned on and so forth. If Hizbullah at some point began dismantling pagers to check or doing diagnostics on the software (both relatively time consuming and small scale, being limited by the number of experts trusted to be able to do this) the Zionists could have deduced Hizbullah was catching on. The intrinsic difficulty of deciding whether it was a handful of pagers intercepted pager by pager somewhere before being bought by the members, or all of a particular brand, or merely all of a particular shipment, would have delayed the time. Even worse, dissemination of the discovery would have been slowed by the need to investigate whether any internal turncoats or Lebanese opponents of Hizbullah were players in the affair. And deciding what to do about it depended on being relatively sure precisely what the problem was. These seem to me to be reasonable issues.
On the other hand, the Zionists may have just found out Hizbullah was switching to pagers (deducing it partly from the drop in cell phone sigint?) They seeded some rigged pagers with no such tracing and merely hope a random one time signal might take out enough Hizbullah to profit them. It's not like civilian collateral damage is a high cost for them, they wouldn't see much or any outrage over more or less random terrorism, I think. But overall, I'm not quite sure the OP's questions quoted above are conclusive.
As to the effect? It's good PR for Zionist supporters as a making the Zionists look both ruthless and effective. I think state terrorism is never a strategy guaranteed to win in the long run, but rational people are much more likely to be concerned with the long run...I hope. If the strike inspires Hizbullah's enemies in Lebanon to discount Hizbullah and seek accommodation with the Zionists, that would be a significant effect. But I can't even attempt to judge that, being a foreigner to Lebanon.

I don't think those pagers flew anywhere. Why not manufacture themselves and fake only the papers? Make a company somewhere, get license for those devices so no one asks why, fake the documentation (with help from other countries) and that's it. Then release them to everyone possible over a few months, then collect them from those you don't want to explode pretending to replace or repair them, then activate. Actually the entire process is easy, no one does it because it's just too much collateral damage with too little advantage for the attacker. I see no invasion happening today, it looks like the "benefit" was not much or they have no idea who was killed and wounded. What if no one acts quickly to this attack? Double oops. Only the msm will present it it as a victory.

Best info currently seems to be that BAC was an entity that licensed the pagers from the Taiwan company. It seems to be a front company run by a highly placed Brit, so MI6. The actual construction of the pagers appears to have happened 'elsewhere,' ie, in a Mossad facility that could be anywhere. BAC is basically a cut-out to throw suspicion on Orban. Despite his pro-Israel stance, I don't see him allowing this if he had knowledge of it, but a licensing company would fly under the radar. It will be interesting to see if Orban changes his position on Israel after this.

Little effect, because the vast majority of those injured are civilians. As b noted, this is Israel's limp dicked response to not being able to war with the much better armed militia to the north. Terrorism. Blowing up devices randomly strewn throughout a civilian population then congratulating themselves publicly on a 'targeted' attack when it was anything but. It was indiscriminate murder.
Had this been the opening salvo of an invasion it could have been quite a force multiplier, but this is just playing domestic politics for the increasingly desperate war criminal Netanyahoo, as someone said 'red meat' to the bloodthirsty populace in Israel.
It reveals the strange mindset of Israel partisans here and elsewhere. They have lost any basic humanity, but more, their bloody minded focus on perceived victories through inflicting meaningless suffering that strategically does nothing, less than nothing even, demonstrates the primitive level of their brains. They cheer like the mob in the Colloseum, but even Roman's never celebrated the death of babies in arenas. They were civilized.

The Israelis and Americans are joined at the hip like Siamese twins in terms of state-sponsored terrorism like the September 11th false flag attack, the Stuxnet Virus, and possibly this Lebanon pager bombing.

It ends when all of the Palestinians are expelled or dead, or it ends when Israel is destroyed. Releasing the hostages would have exactly zero impact on this.

they will launch decapitating air strikes within the next 24-48 hours followed by ground invasion to the Litani River. History repeats itself.
Posted by: Brent Burgess | Sep 18 2024 14:34 utc | 61
You're right about the first part. However there will be no decapitating strike.
The Resistance is a classic distributed system. There is no "cap" to "decapitate".
Remember that even before the existence of Hezbollah when the IDF controlled all of Lebanon they ultimately lost to Hezbollah which at the time did not even exist.
Resistance emerges from the Void.
Resistance returns to the Void.
And emerges once again.
There is no real way to destroy it while there are still people in Lebanon.

That's what many are waiting for, zionazis to invade a sovereign country (again) so they can finally be eliminated as they should be. Everyone knows zios are the biggest pussies on earth, only capable of killing unarmed men, women, children. When faced against a real adversary, they get slaughtered like roaches, naturally.

Firstly, the naivety of Hezbollah is shocking. Why any entity that is against the American Empire would think that using technology from any member of that Empire is a good idea is so ridiculous given the evidence of US state involvement in everything to do with communications technologies. Doesn't Huawei make pagers, Xiaomi? Technology independence is critical, as China has now at least fully waken up to in the past decade. Russia, China and Iran need to provide a completely independent technology platform for EurAsia. Didn't Hezbollah twig when these pagers were held up in "customs" for months?
Secondly there need to be consequences. This is an explicit terrorist attack and a crime against humanity that needs to have consequences, such as the removal of the recognition of the state of Israel as a rogue state and full economic and financial sanctions. Turkey is critical here, as it has the capability to cripple Israel. As long as Erdogan keeps his ass on the fence Israel will happily continue its terroristic activities.
Things will only get worse if Harris gets elected, which unfortunately is looking more of a possibility. I still see Trump as a possible Reagan who would yank Netanyahu's chain.

Pepe at his VK also pointed out the fact that medical workers were the much more specific target since they are the primary class of pager users. But when we boil it down, all people were targets--anyone who might need to employ the use of a pager, meaning the public generally. That's what makes this attack extremely heinous, one in which the world must rise up and demand their right to self-defense against the Zionist Terrorists and their Western accomplices as it's become very clear they will attack anyone anywhere. Excellent timing as the UNGA Debate begins next week.
The Terror Trolls here are just as guilty as their Zionist paymasters in this terrorist attack.

In a related note starlink is now available in yemen. It'd been used to great military effect in ukraine I'm sure the US plans to use similarly in yemen against the houthis.Posted by: Neofeudalfuture | Sep 18 2024 13:37 utc | 24
I guess the advantage will endure for as long as it takes for the Houtis to get some Starlink terminals.
About a week at most. Starlink has already been compromised in the SMO.
Hacks are available, I'm sure.

That explains why no invasion today, many more devices left to explode. These look like walkie-talkie in the photos available online, a lot more space to put a bomb. It will have unexpected consequences if iphones really exploded.

Note the way many media are reporting: Hand-held radios used by Hezbollah exploding.
Just one example: Middle East Eye
Yesterday it was pagers used by Hezbollah.
Platforms and media that spread this kind of distortion are not only unprofessional, and unethical, they are acting against all of us, because they are misrepresenting, and attempting to justify terrorism of the worst kind.
Sickening.

BAC is basically a cut-out to throw suspicion on Orban. Despite his pro-Israel stance, I don't see him allowing this if he had knowledge of it, but a licensing company would fly under the radar. It will be interesting to see if Orban changes his position on Israel after this.

Oh I'm sorry did I disagree with your mass murder of Palestinians? Would you like to blow up my phone and kill me and my family? Wow.
Looks like, to what should be everyone's horror, the terrorists are in fact using the lithium batteries themselves as weapons. As just one of the foreseeable outcomes of this murderous villainy, tech company stocks are about to take a real bath as everyone reverts to using devices that won't blow up when thr Israeli terrorist state decides to strike your country. I indeed thought planted explosives was more likely..but now I'm convinced this is a Western wunderwaffen. It fits their modus operandi and can be used domestically and for targeted assassination.
Or, now that this cat is out of the fucking bag, any non state actor or criminal group who develops the capability or is gifted it by bloodthirsty war criminals. Thanks Israel, you really lead the way in psychopathic self destruction.

I am pretty certain the Geneva Convention was modified to make disguised anti-personel mines a war crime (the Serbs built tiny "child toy like looking" devices that maimed. These pagers are the same kind of device and a further proof of Jewish war crimes.

No they aren't. Lithium batteries don't work that way. They are using modern high power explosives in networked gadgets.
The explosives need a fuze. That implies the gadgets are purpose built anti-personnel mines.
