🇹🇷🇷🇺🇺🇦At the peace talks in Istanbul in 2022, Russia and Ukraine were close to an agreement to end the conflict, but the US did not want it, Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş said on Habertürk TV.
“The work almost reached the point of signing. But, unfortunately, some countries did not want the war to end. Because the US is trying to consolidate the European continent due to military actions in Ukraine, wants to involve Russia in serious problems and considers regional turbulence important for the balance of power there,” he said.

The City of London controls the Empire so, indeed, Perfidious Albion is an apt description in my opinion
Posted by: canuck | Aug 30 2024 10:42 utc | 299
And the perfidious part is all the mighty Britannica have left. In the eighteen hundreds, the Brits collected dung, animal and human to separate/extract saltpeter.
But it appears the colossal amounts of bullshit now emanating from Perfidious cannot even launch a missile.
And the once mighty ruler of the waves can no longer build a serviceable bathtub. I guess bullshit does not float boats either.

Looks like AFU is going to make Bakhmut out of Pokrovsk (as implied before). If you were wondering where the remnants of AFU in this direction went.
If they insist defending the city, there are always counter-measures. Pokrovsk is much easier to isolate than places like Toretsk, New York or Chasov Yar because it’s in the middle of open fields. So with some planning and preparation they can really bag a nice chunk of AFU remnants there.
They can’t operate or defend in open fields which means their chance of counter-attacking out of Pokrovsk urban areas is lower, which means the chance of taking the land south of it without too serious resistance is higher, which means they can isolate it.

Our source reports that Bankovaya will make a second Bakhmut from Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region.
Zelensky needs to hold the city until the end of the year, as a symbol that no one is retreating (although the very advance of the Russian Armed Forces to Pokrovsk is already a defeat and a threat to the logistics of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in other directions).
But symbols and PR are important to Bankova.
So we chose Pokrovsk as the next «fortetsu».
The city will be used as one large fortification.

Instead of pulling troops from the Pokrovsky sector for the Kursk front as the Brits were hoping for, Russia sent additional troops there.

I guess the Kursk incursion most important message was ‘we are hurting with that Pokrovs salient, the salient is poking my inner membranes, please focus your efforts somewhere else” or that’s the way the Russians read it.

Guess you morons never heard of the Theban Sacred Band:
“The Sacred Band of Thebes was an elite unit of the Theban army comprised of 150 gay male couples totaling 300 men. They were formed under the leadership of Gorgidas but first achieved fame under the general Pelopidas. They remained invincible from 378-338 BCE when the entire troop fell together at the Battle of Chaeronea.” (1)
At the Battle of Chaeronea Phillip and Alexander beat the Theban army. Only the sacred band was left-Alexander asked the Sacred Band to surrender-instead the Band died fighting. Alexander wept.

The U.S. Army has awarded a $1,3 billion contract to produce and deliver Javelin anti-tank missiles in fiscal year 2024. Under the deal, more than 4000 of the weapons will be sent to Ukraine, underscoring the importance of the system in supporting Ukraine’s defense amid the ongoing conflict.

I was reading the night posts and wondering if Kursk was not an attempt to make an original scenario redux.
The original scenario had Ukraine overrun and RF stuck with gladio guerrilha groups nibbling at RF forces.
Maybe the idea of bringing that into RF came to mind to an MI6/cia idiot.
And the news about the javelins would fit that scenario.
But what someone forgot was that the original scenario included a lot of quasi urban zones, plenty to live from the land and friendly civilians.
Kursk is not any of those, even going full Vietcong would likely fail.
But maybe that’s the thing they tried …
Now for the current situation in Kursk (and even the rest of the front) I see z by his piano, a limp instrument hitting the keys, and a sad voice singing…
Should I stay or should I go now?
Should I stay or should I go now?
If I go there will be trouble
And if I stay it will be double
So come on and let me know

Johan Kaspar@304…..the Ukies moved most of their men to Kursk, they are quickly abandoning their positions in the Donetsk as thousands of Russian flood in……hmm, great time to use a small tactical that everyone loves to talk about and presto. Uninhabitable Donetsk, it’s lost anyway and added bonus all those extra Russians will be gone, poof. You read it here first.

Maybe they will crash their own operation. 😎

Reasoning goes like this (from Barantchik, but seen similar on other channels as well):

Colleagues write :
“POUL sources in Brussels report that NATO will continue the vector of provocations and forcing Russia to use nuclear weapons on Ukrainian territory. For the collective West, such a scenario is the most desirable in its desire to isolate and sever ties with allies and neutral states. At the same time, as the source specifies, there is general agreement on a retaliatory strike against Russia in the event of a nuclear attack on one of the alliance countries.”
First of all, colleagues, we will not strike Ukraine with nuclear weapons. This is a false and provocative formulation of the question from the very beginning. They have their own. With all the nuances. But Britain, Poland, the Czech Republic, Germany, France can be preemptively hit with TNW. And then, after the fact, make changes to the Nuclear Doctrine. Well, it happens, they didn’t have time. Who has it easy now? Now they have, there’s so much to do around. And you should have read not only what’s in large print. Did you see it here, in the corner? No, it’s written there, take a closer look.
Secondly, with all due respect, colleagues, but why scare us with a non-existent threat ? Who will strike Russia? Who are these people? There are only two countries in Europe that possess nuclear weapons – Britain and France. Three months ago I made a detailed report on their nuclear potential and how to nullify it. Even if one nuclear weapon from these countries were to fly at us, they would simply not be left on the map. And they understand this perfectly well. Therefore, there will be no nuclear strike from them.
Who else can hit us in Europe and with what? Poland? Czech Republic? Germany? Don’t make me laugh. With what? Missiles and bombs? And get radioactive cities baked into glass in response? Well, that’s funny.
What retaliatory strike? Who? They’ll shit themselves after we use nuclear weapons. No one will do anything anywhere. We continue to drink coffee calmly. We keep the red button in sight. We periodically tap the rhythm “this Victory Day. Smells of gunpowder” on it with our finger. We check if it responds to touch. We broadcast this daily on the evening TV news as a screensaver when the clock hand approaches 21:00.

Russian telegram channels are a goldmine : There is a 15M Rubble prize money for the downing of F16 for RUAF… and some are suggesting also giving it to AFU downing their own. Money always has been a great motivation for the kokhols bravery after all 🙂

Just how crazy is Ukraine’s collective suicide?
https://opendatabot.ua/en/analytics/pensions-2024-7
They got 10.2 million pensioners. Simplicius seems to think they might have 18 million based on cell phone data. Eight million left? Half would be female except for horrific losses of able bodied males. What % are disabled but not counted as a pensioner? How many boys under 18? Who’s left to be a miner, doctor, farmer, factory worker or police?
It looks insane. No wonder we keep hearing that they can’t conscript enough.

305 – Hey, Ernst Roehm was a fag too. So what?

Posted by: Waldorf | Aug 30 2024 12:35 utc | 312

The idea of limited strike is to bring Europe to its senses. After initial strike, USA/Britain/France have a choice: (a) serious nuclear response, in which case Russian radar notices the attack with 10 minutes advance warning and so Russia launches its full arsenal against every country in the world, ending civilization; (b) limited response. If (b), then Europe will suddenly come to its senses, as if the tide went out and they suddenly noticed everyone was swimming naked. NATO collapses, USA becomes laughing stock of world because shown to have no balls, economic crisis, etc.
Posted by: anonposter | Aug 29 2024 17:04 utc | 104
That’s a good theory … in fact it’s an old Soviet theory on how to use your nukes to stop a war they were losing to NATO … the idea was using a tactical nuke would send a message to NATO they were ready to launch a strike on the USA if the war continues.
Russia isn’t losing the war. Russia isn’t under existential risk. No sane person bets the deed to the family farm when they’re up a couple of grand at Vegas
Maybe if the RUAF was losing the war and the Ukraine coalition was about to take Moscow Russia would make such a gamble but at this point such an escalation is unnessary and foolhardy.
It’s the Ukrainians that want Russia to escalate to bring NATO into the war … why would Russia volunatrily do something that’s against their interests and put the war in Ukraine and the existence of the Russian state at risk?

It was clear by the very beginning that Ukraine could not win a war with Russia.
It’s beginning to appear clearly that NATO, expecially with no or limited engagement from US, is not able to win a conventional war with russia.
Next step is going nuclear and west seems desperate for blaming Russia for that.
Not that it will make any difference given that no one will win.

Green light etc.
Correct me if I’m wrong.
Green light is decent for not interfering with your natural night vision and might be good for augmented night vision illumination, so the choice of green isn’t mysterious at all.
The use of green light might possibly indicate that there are special forces hiding close by who operate the thingamajig. They may be directing attention and/or seeing if they will provoke a reaction.
It is not laser of any kind nor pattern, just ordinary light.
Hard to judge but the source seem to be perhaps ten meters up.
It could be some sort of “night only” stealth drone/miniature dirigible/”balloon” with very quiet propulsion. There are ways of making propellers almost soundless. Considering how efficient LEDs are and how it may not need more power than for five or ten minutes of flight at a time any non-buoyant parts of the drone might not be much larger than a matchbox (compare with Black Hornet, those are not completely soundless though).
Maybe for detailed reconnaissance answering very specific tactical questions (filling in missing detail and open questions).
Despite a lot of open questions it makes sense enough to me, no “aaliunz” required 🙂

The irony of Afghani’s making such remarks is that it ignores their own widespread, common homosexuality. Anybody who still has trust in the mass Western media (ha ha) should consider how Britain and the US kept Afghani pedophilia out of the reporting for 20 years. British guys were a bit freaked to see Afghan soldiers with eyeliner and so forth. US troops were told to ignore boys chained to beds.
The further irony is that Afghanis seem to have their own creative ways of thinking about homosexual acts such that gender might not be defined until a certain age. Weird how the woke and fanatical religion can think this way but such is our world.

They both can beat each other. Russia would destroy the first nato army. But by the 15th or 25th nato army would destroy Russia. Nato has the most important waunderwaffen that Russia doesn’t have. Which is me you any other westerner posting here, man women straight gay ladyboy dont matter. As long as you’re 18-60 yrs old and able bodied to carry a rifle. Then you are just meat for the grinder. And when it comes to this waundwaffen we out number Russia 25-30 to 1. Who wants those odds from a defensive posture? So nukes could be used just to even the playing field.

Pedophilia and homosexuality are two different things.
One can be heterosexual and pedophile (male and female) and one can be homosexual but not pedophile (male and female).
About pedophilia one can argue. Most ancient cultures or different cultures put the limit to sexual activity to puberty, not to an arbitrary age limit.

Well, since we’re off topic anyway —
Noble and ennobling as the story of the Sacred Band of Thebes may be, and even if it’s true, it comes from a geographically and temporally distant culture, so it’s understandable if one wishes to question its relevance.
As far as modern times and sacred American manhood are concerned, we don’t have a lot of data of course, because it’s only been in the past few years that same-sex-inclined folks could serve without fear of prosecution or at least dishonorable discharge. However, a significant milestone in the “gay rights” movement occurred right after World War II, when places like New York City were crowded with hundreds if not thousands of former soldiers and sailors, recently honorably discharged or in the process of being honorably discharged, who had discovered their same-sex inclination in the barracks, onboard ship, or on shore leave in one of the many European Sodoms (*The Gallery* by John Horne Burns offers a barely fictional account of Naples). And wouldn’t you know, these proto-gays suddenly discovered that they had no interest in going back to Kansas or Texas or even a private Idaho, and formed communities in America’s coastal metropolises.
Fast forward a couple of decades. Toward the end of the Vietnam War draft offices were so desperate for fresh meat that they were no longer refusing admitted homosexuals. (Of course there were those few who lied about being homosexual in order to avoid service.) Many of these were generally or dishonorably discharged upon the end of their tour of duty, but not for lack of bravery or competence, but because of the initial stain on their record when inducted.
Now I wouldn’t be able to tell you whether a screaming gender-bending queen like Sam Brinton would be a good fighter, although if one looks back to the Stonewall Inn riot, one will see that when it comes to fighting mercilessly, dirtily even (move over, MMA!), drag queens are right up there with the rest of them.

Posted by: malenkov | Aug 30 2024 13:57 utc | 324

I assume that they were being uncomplementary towards US soldiers, since Russians by contrast are called ‘men’. Many Muslims adamantly refuse to believe that their fellows could widely behave this way. As for definitions, same sex is what the word means and they seem to have some cultural attachment to boys that goes back centuries. The only major publication I ever read during the 20 years that brought this up was a piece in The Week.
Back to Ukraine, it is a cold hard truth that the death of 2000 plus Ukrainian men is the price paid every day for one more day of Zelensky’s life. As the number is going up, you might be able to count it as 100 dead for every hour he draws breath. He is the major obstacle now. He cannot negotiate or he’s done.

“Noble and ennobling as the story of the Sacred Band of Thebes may be, and even if it’s true,…”
Posted by: malenkov | Aug 30 2024 13:57 utc | 324
Are you off your rocker? Of course it is true.(1)
“In Plato’s philosophical dialog the Symposium, a group of Athenian aristocrats sits around at a banquet discussing a topic that was as important to the Greeks as it is to us: love. Each guest gives a speech in praise of the god Eros and provides his own understanding of love. One of the guests, Phaedrus, waxes lyrical about the loyalty that the lover has to his beloved. He cites, as evidence, the mythological hero Achilles, who sacrificed himself for his beloved Patroclus in the Trojan War. He speculates on the bravery that such soldiers might exhibit on the battlefield:” (2)
Circa 378 BCE – Circa 338 BCE
The Sacred Band of Thebes, a troop of soldiers that consisted of 150 gay male couples, formed the elite force of the Theban army in the 4th century BC. The rationale behind the Band’s composition was that lovers would fight more fiercely and cohesively than strangers with no ardent bonds. Theban general Pelopidas formed these couples into a distinct unit – the “special forces” of Greek soldiery – and the forty years of their known existence (378–338 BC) marked the pre-eminence of Thebes as a military and political power in late-classical Greece. The Sacred Band fought the Spartans at Tegyra in 375 BC, vanquishing an army that was at least three times its size. It was also responsible for the victory at Leuctra in 371 BC that established Theban independence from Spartan rule and laid the groundwork for the expansion of Theban power. Their only defeat came at the Battle of Chaeronea (338 BC), against Philip II of Macedon and his son, Alexander the Great. It is written that Philip, after the fight, took a view of the slain; coming upon the place where the three hundred that fought his phalanx lay dead together and, understanding that it was the band of lovers, he wept. Around 300 BC, the town of Thebes erected a giant stone lion on a pedestal at the burial site of the Sacred Band that still stands today.(3)
“In both accounts of the battle, the superior discipline of the Sacred Band resulted in its annihilation. Surrounded and unwilling to surrender, the Sacred Band fought nobly, but they were cut down by the Macedonians. Archaeological excavations near the city of Chaeronea (now Khairónia) have uncovered a mound containing the ashes of Macedonian troops, clearly built as a monument to Philip’s victory. In addition, 254 skeletons found buried beneath a funerary marker are believed to be the remains of the Sacred Band, buried in pairs. The battle marked the end of effective military opposition to Philip in Greece and heralded the beginning of Macedonian domination in the region.(4)”
“According to the ancient sources, the Sacred Band of Thebes was an elite unit of the Theban army composed of 300 of their finest soldiers. But there was a twist – these soldiers were in romantic pairings with one another…150 pairs of male lovers.
So why was the Sacred Band organized in this unprecedented fashion? Plutarch, the Greek historian from the 1st and 2nd century AD, lays out the justification in the Life of Pelopidas in Parallel Lives:
“Tribesmen or clansmen do not feel any great concern for their kinfolk in time of danger, but a band which is united by the ties of love is truly indissoluble and unbreakable, since both lovers and beloved are ashamed to be disgraced in the presence of each other, and each stands his ground at a moment of danger to protect one another.
According to the ancient sources, the Sacred Band of Thebes was a key part of Thebes’ rise to prominence in the 4th century BCE. The Band’s first major victories were against Spartan forces at the Battles of Tegyra and Luectra in 375 and 371 BCE. The former is notable for being the first (and only) time that a Spartan army was defeated by a smaller force. After these wins, Thebes replaced Sparta as the dominant power in Greece.”(5)

Oh dear, I must’ve upset your AI program.
Myself, I don’t claim to be an expert in ancient Greek history (unlike your AI program), but I do know enough about history to know that a “straight historical” account that avoids agenda-driven propaganda, selectivity in choosing which details to relate, and outright mythmaking is rare enough now, to say nothing of accounts from more than two millennia ago, the precision, veracity, and completeness of which we are poorly in a position to evaluate. So it’s usually the case that there’s some truth to an account, but we’ll never know how much, and can usually assume we’re not getting the full story. Just as 254 skeletons don’t quite add up to 300.

F-16 in Ukraine fell in an unequal battle with “mopeds”
Already the second fighter in Ukraine crashed while trying to repel an air strike.
This is stated in the official statement of the Ukrainian Air Force.
“New parts on the F-16, perhaps it was shot down, maybe even our own,” comments our vigilant reader, having studied the text.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also finally confirmed the crash: “Communication was lost with one of the F-16s. The plane crashed, the pilot was killed, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said in a statement. To find out the causes of the accident, a special commission of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, working in the area of the crash of the aircraft, is intended.”

what makes you think this is the “SECOND” F-16 ; that the tm-idiot get it right ????
EVEN in the screenshot from the ukrainian site is the name from the pilot highlighted in yellow

A great take on Western motives and tactics in the Ukraine War by “Tales of the American Empire” where he talks about the possibility that Hungary May Defect. One of the reasons why Russia needs to take all of Ukraine, creating a land bridge through Hungary/Slovakia to Austria, Serbia & Republika Srpska and then Bulgaria. That would fundamentally change the geopolitical dynamics in Europe, and surround Romania with Russian allies.
It would also provide direct access to Russia, for European citizens to visit and overcome Western propaganda. Just like China making it so easy for Westerners to visit the country. All those tourists in Xinjiang putting videos up on youtube etc. are a very effective way of destroying Western propaganda.
Any peace negotiations with Ukraine/NATO will be Russia losing the peace after winning the war, only unconditional surrender should be acceptable.

But it’s interesting to notice that the thebans/macedon lover soldiers do cycle (in a 1620 years long cycle) to the “brotherly” soldiers of the religious military orders of the 13th century.
But why lose time on this? The original statement would be more correctly interpreted using a term fallen in disuse, westerns fight like sissies i.e. they don’t
Update
The Ukrainian armed forces lost over 380 troops and 22 armored vehicles, including a tank, in the Kursk area in the past day, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
The enemy has lost more than 7,800 troops since fighting began in Russia’s borderline Kursk Region.
Mercenaries fighting on the Ukrainian army’s side in the Kursk Region fall back to the second and third lines, a security official told TASS.
TASS has gathered the main information about the situation in the region.

– Units of Russia’s Battlegroup North, backed by army aircraft and artillery forces, repelled five attacks by Ukrainian assault teams towards the settlements of Kremyanoye, Pushkarskoye and Cherkasskoye Porechnoye in the past day.
– Russian forces also thwarted Ukrainian attempts to carry out attacks towards the settlements of Malaya Loknya, Pushkarskoye and Russkaya Konopelka.
– Russian forces hit enemy troops and equipment near the settlements of Apanasovka, Borki, Bogdanovka, Vishnyovka, Gaponovka, Kositsa, Lyubimovka, Mikhailovka, Novaya Sorochina, Obukhovka, Orlovka, Plekhovo, Russkoye Porechnoye, Sverdlikovo, Snagost and 10th October in the Kursk Region.
– Russian aircraft carried out strikes on the Ukrainian armed forces’ reserves of manpower and equipment in 11 settlements in the Sumy Region.
Ukrainian army’s losses
– Over the past day, the enemy lost over 380 troops and 22 armored vehicles, including a tank and 21 armored combat vehicles, as well as an artillery gun, two mortars, an electronic warfare system and eight motor vehicles.
– Since the start of fighting in the Kursk area, the Ukrainian armed forces have lost more than 7,800 troops, 75 tanks, 36 infantry fighting vehicles, 64 armored personnel carriers, 507 armored combat vehicles, 235 motor vehicles, 53 artillery guns, 15 multiple launch rocket systems, including four HIMARS launchers and one MLRS launcher, fie missile launchers, 11 electronic warfare systems, a counter-battery radar, an air defense radar, five engineering vehicles, including two armored engineering vehicles and an UR-77 mine clearing vehicle.
Mercenary participation
– Mercenaries fighting on the Ukrainian army’s side in the Kursk Region bring up the rear in combat, falling back to the second and third lines of the advancing forces. A security official told TASS that they were sending “cannon fodder” out to fight first.

The Kursk offensive propably wasn’t a bad gambit for Ukraine. The rest of the front line is near collapse and weren’t going to hold. There was a slight chance Russia could panic and make its own tactical errors or the West would come in with assistance in a stronger manner. Neither happened. But probably was worth the hail mary shot.

Strange, I would’ve thought that “Leftist Ideologues” were vastly outnumbered by religious fundamentalists . . . who certainly use capital-F Faith rather than rational thought to shape their world views.
Fortunately, people who believe in the literal truth of 2400-year-old historical accounts (non-Biblical) seem to be a minority.

Game of Thrones: (Game Theory)
#Kursk Gambit – from another perspective.
What if Syrsky has indeed a plan?
Never underestimate the effects of internal fights over power.
Those internal clashes can have a direct impact on the battlefields.
So – what if there is an internal fight going on between some certain factions.
We know that Zalushny and Poroshenko directly attack the current “Ukrainian Leadership”.
You can see it on the postings of TG channel Rezident – which is pretty close to the opponents of the Zelenksy gang.
What if Syrsky got a plan to get rid of all those “right sector units” close to Poroshenko and Zalushny?
What if he knows that the war is lost – and the Russians were about to start to finish the Donbas – at least (and we can even watch it now in real time)
What if the operation in Kursk is nothing more but the best way to weaken the whole armed “right sector”?
Why else would we observe such a “collapse” towards Pokrovsk – Ugledar – and now even Kupyansk.
Russians took one settlement after the other – some even mostly intact -> so with less artillery fire needed.
And perhaps even fever Ukrainian KIA on those sectors.
Why would anyone with a brain insist in keeping “the best units” far away in the woods in near Kursk?
They will have to hold this shit – to what end? To get killed?
If that was the plan – all would start to make at least any sense.

Just some thoughts – and never forget – the battles are not only on the front lines. From Geroman

F 16 glides pretty well for it’s type.
In this video an F 16 ingests a bird on take off. The pilots (trainer version) have time to try to re light the engine, steer the aircraft away from the runway, radio the tower and then discuss and perform ejection.

The plane is a BAe Hawk trainer, as pointed out in the YT comments. So we don’t know from that how an F16 glides.
My understanding is that most NATO planes don’t like rough, “bitty” runways where stuff can be ingested.

Sex and warfare have always been intrinsically linked, especially when culturally or societally repressed. Pirate captains would often go after the difficult prize catches in the first two weeks out of port, because their men ‘had not turned to rum or sodomy yet’. Some historians seek to explain the fighting prowess of the military orders by reference to the Brothers vows of celibacy, and warnings about soldiers masturbating were often couched in terms of the dangers of a diminished fighting spirit.
This attitude is echoed by some modern sport’s coaches trying to enforce abstinence before important fixtures, fearing sexual release will temper their charges of an aggressive edge, interestingly, for other sports it is encouraged as a way of stress relief. Soldiers, being soldiers might laugh at such ideas, as a ‘combat tug’ is a much prized event, by some.

Re F-16 and pilot loss, unless there’s convincing evidence to support the Patriot shoot down claim, perhaps the question is would the US prefer this story if the truth was they were both wasted by Gerans?
Patriot story has it being human error rather than a Russian success and Patriot shoot down, even under the claimed circumstances, is at least a clam in favour of its technical capabilities.

Malenkov@1425
For all your erudition, you do happen to be an obstinate cuss when presented by the premiere roles which samesex men have played throughout Western history. Did the samesex evolutionary iteration….cultural evolution, that is…Straits (those primarily hetero men who deny their very own “X” female chromosome’s exisistance engendering. a well-developed and balanced corpus colosum)…are a bit short-suited due to their JudieChristie MagickMindfuck AND rationalist-materialist programming.
It is highly probable that a significant plurality of males are primarily enamored with female bodies, combined with the ancient mammalian reproductive urge, that they can correctly be described as “Straights”. The generalized ensorcellment with women is foundational for the basis of any human culture.
Straight men are so taken with womenfolk that samesex eroticism is simply not on their radar-screens. Fair enough.
However, on a personal experiential basis I have come to the realization that many fathers, to say nothing of adolescent youth, do possess a samesex alternative as part of their overall makeup. Perhaps there is a lesson to be found in that reality. Here, I’m talking about CHEATING on their spouse or significant female other by going beyond mere flirtations with various other females.
Perhaps you have heard the term “Homebreaker”. In general, men seek sexual satisfaction…getting off, as it were. The majority of women, au contraire, tend to seek RELATIONSHIPS. That preference is organic and generic. After all, women seek security for themselves and often even more so for their offspring. As men compete for desirable females, women also compete for RELATIONSHIPS…with a sexual context in most instances.
As males are in quest of simple sexual release and do possess “roaming eyes”; human cultural evolution, based upon the androgynic nature of the two paired chromosomes; suggests rather strongly that “on the side” fun n’ games with one or more of their own sex is FAR less a threat to household harmony than current congruent divorce rates at approximately 50% of all marriages.
Due to your obvious “strait” identity fixation, due in large part to cultural programming which has been dominant ever since Constantine and Justinian effectively destroyed Classical Culture and replaced it with “Holy” Mother Church…your perspective on human sexuality…and eroticism…is in the words of Bob Dylan “stuck on a whale who’s married to the deputy sheriff of the jail”.
You are a highly intelligent man and profoundly erudite, as well. Will you please give due consideration to perspectives which have to date, not been part of your “Weltansschaung”?

I’ve often thought that the most important battles in the SMO were between those commanders who were ‘true believers’ and those who were sabotaging events, because of their subordinates. It might come as a surprise to some posters but good commanders often unconditionally grow to love the men under their command, and whilst quite prepared to have those men die, will hate the idea they were sacrificed for a pointless cause. There must be Ukrainian commanders who are justifying their disloyalty because they believe they are trying to save their men from those senior in rank or their more ideological colleagues.
This is why fanatical troops (Azov, etc)are such dangerous opponents, because the first love of the unit is the cause they are fighting, everything else is subordinate, although this state rarely affects the entire unit/formation it does the majority, who become enforcers of this code. It’s also why these units are generally shunned and sometimes despised by ones with a more regular ‘outlook’ on life.

Shoigu can’t even protect his inner circle
Sources said that the fight for General Pavel Popov, who was arrested today, lasted until the very last moment. Apparently, his fate was decided at the very last moment by Vladimir Putin.
Popov is a general close to Shoigu . He worked with him for a long time in the Ministry of Emergency Situations. In the Ministry of Defense, he was responsible for high technology. Many may remember the robot dog with a grenade launcher presented by the Ministry of Defense (in the photo), which turned out to be Chinese, as well as the shortage of simple drones in the first months of hostilities in Ukraine.
Interestingly, his resignation was obvious with the arrival of the new Minister of Defense Belousov. Everyone and their dog talked about it in unison. However, few expected that Popov would end up in jail. First of all, this indicates the final loss of Shoigu’s subjectivity. He cannot even protect his inner circle.

Patriot is short range, point defense system. Its radar receives target with Intel classification from the “system”.
The system may have picked up the F-16, it saw it chasing targets. Not threatening anything the Patriot battery was protecting. First look at the record of what system cued Patriot to do. Then follow interceptor cues post launch.
The fault chain, and divergence for air defense TTP’ are too many!
Patriot taking out an F-16 hunting in friendly space is like a coyote eating a house cat while the cat is stalking a chipmunk
I think the engine flamed out, and the U.S. is pointing to a different U.S. problem.

Posted by: paddy | Aug 30 2024 17:06 utc | 354

The claim is that a Patriot shot down an F16.
Are there not IFF devices that are supposed to prevent that from happening? Or can a Patriot crew just decide to try and shoot down whatever flying objects are within range, including their own military and government aircraft?
That could have ‘interesting’ consequences if fragging became more common.

Front from Chasov Yar to Ugledar is still the place where the Russians report the most losses for the AFU … and not all brigade with WW2 related symbolism were moved to Kursk, notably 3rd Azov that just fell in a trap in Chasov Yar region. They don’t fight to the last but it didn’t mean they don’t fight or stopped terror attack on Donbass civilians.
Anyway , Banderism has been so widespread in 404 that it would be very hard to eradicate by military means only. Just look at the shitstrom Kuleba launched in Poland recently about some events UPA started during WW2… the higher part of the state apparatus is also tainted by the ukronationalism bullshit.

It’s also why these units are generally shunned and sometimes despised by ones with a more regular ‘outlook’ on life.

Sort of related, Orlov interviewed today on Nima in his unique wry way suggests that the reason the AFU is falling back so quickly in the Donbas is that all the AFU punishers have been gathered up and sent into Kursk, in the west with the Russians shooting from the front and with no one shooting from the rear the regular AFU grunts are pulling up stakes.
BTW, as much as I enjoy listening to Orlov, I don’t buy that the AFU is made up of unwilling, poorly trained, press ganged hapless fools, the AFU gives as good as it gets, the only reason Russia is able to push them back is because of its weapons superiority and command of the air space. Mano a mano the AFU is a tough lot.

I do not know what the rules in U.S. provided, and augmentedKiev air battle management system state for engaging fighters to broadcast IFF. I am sure the F-16s have IFF, maybe different from Soviet era fighters, or not.
IFF or not the F-16 was known in the battle plan, and sensors should have its flight plan!
The Patriot targeting radar gets cues from the system. If it was cued for the F-16 track, and called it bogey, then the U.S. air defense architecture for Ukraine is problematic.
Could be the case trillions invested over decades and we shot down friendlies.

Probable plans of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kherson direction
Interesting AFU plan video. Beyond ambitious, very tough terrain, very tough logistics. Maybe it was the follow up if Kursk had been more successful, maybe they are crazy enough to keep going berserker gung-ho opening new fronts while falling back on old ones. The USA way, go big or go home, though admittedly there’s not much hope in incrementalism for the AFU anymore. I’d say 50-50 this is on the runway.

Another failed safeguard that should have saved the F-16 from friendly fire: F-16 are equipped with radar warning receivers AL/ALR 69.
This equipment warns the pilot when radar is tracking or targeting his aircraft
If Moonfish were alerted by his ALR 69 he should have sqwalked and went defensive.
Maybe ALR 69 does not see Patriot radar?

Once again, the identitarians muddy the waters re: human sexuality.
“There is no such thing as a homosexual.” Gore Vidal.
A man can be sexually gratified by a farm animal.
But. That. Does. Not. Mean. He. Should.
I so pity this hetero-normative culture that has pushed every sensitive, introverted soul or soul who is more in touch with their feminine side into appropriating something as false as “being a homosexual.”
Did you know there is a secret handshake that all straights know and that if you don’t know it, that means you are gay?
Both the hetero-freaks who do not understand the feminine and the resentful self-described homosexuals deserve each other. They both desperately want this false identitarian worldview to continue because it is easier that way that they don’t have to look into the mirror.

I don’t think it’s possible to shoot down a normally equipped F-16 with Patriot because there is certainly a system in place that prevents destruction by own air defense – why is Erdogan buying S-400 and the USA is really pissed?
Some time ago a German ship tried unsuccessfully to shoot down a US drone with its US air defense.
But it may of course be that the US removed the friendly-fire fuse for Ukraine’s F-16 because they want to avoid it falling into the hands of the Russians.

The most obvious, and less sensationalist, explanation is that the majority of the UA are made up of in-house hastily taught conscripts, or worse, conscripts who’ve been hastily trained by NATO personnel*. These troops are ok with the Shoot part of the infantry triad, passable with the Communicate part, but typically poor on the Move part. This means when they occupy fixed defences, especially fortifications, they do a passable job at preventing breakthroughs, or at least delaying them and causing attrition on the attacking force. Obstacle belts, prepared arcs and boundaries, and pre-registered target points for area fire (both direct and indirect), go a long way to mitigating the weaknesses inherent in such troops.
Remove this support though and things start to go down hill rapidly. Without pre-prepared positions and having to conduct a hasty defence all aspects of the Shoot, Move, Communicate deteriorate, a situation readily exploited by skilled attackers, who soon bypass fixed positions, capitalise on the relatively static nature of the defence and inflict higher than average casualties. This situation is exacerbated by the conscript command elements, at all levels, being quickly over-whelmed and reaching task-saturation, leading to three of the Four F’s (Flight, Freeze and Fumble or Faff).
There are, of course, exceptions, often forged in the heat of battle, but these normally just delay the inevitable and are unable to change the increasingly defeatist outlook these units often adopt, as they are ejected out of one defence line after another.
*Western infantry tactics rely on specific training requirements to be met, covering a wide range of skills and proficiencies, trying to speed up the process will inevitably result in troops who are less capable overall than those who had the most basic training focusing on very few procedures.

Shoigu might be honest enough, tough to see from the cheap seats, probably in peacetime too much pressure on the corruption would have cause the procurement system to lock up, maybe Shoigu’s forte was maximizing a lousy system well enough to get the armaments modernization done, at least better than anyone else Putin could find, Putin’s a pragmatic dude, better half a loaf than none, but in wartime you need the whole loaf. This is the first time something like this has happened in the Ministry of Defense.
After the invasion of the Ukrainian Armed Forces by the Nazis into the Kursk region, the Russian Defense Minister made an unprecedented decision. Andrei Belousov surprised even seasoned military men.
The head of the Ministry of Defense decided to hold those responsible for the situation in the Russian region personally accountable.
— For each task of the Coordination Council, the Ministry has designated an official who is responsible for its implementation within 24 hours. If it is impossible to solve the problem at my level, the information is communicated to me personally, and I make a decision, — Belousov said.
Previously, this did not happen, at least during any meetings, sessions, or boards. Now it does.

Did anyone mention that the risk of downed F-16s just reduced?
“Explosion at German arms manufacturer Diehl defense!
They produce e.g. air defense system Iris-T for Ukraine!
The explosion at the Diehl Defence explosives plant in Troisdorf near Bonn in the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia occurred at 9.30 am. Two workers were seriously injured.”

This was hard for me to find this morning, as not evident the usual Duran links I go to. I did finally access it, so posting the link I have found as it is very worth watching or listening to:

Somehow I get the feeling that Shoigu would be next on the chopping block except that nobody really wants to piss off the Tuvans.

Putin as commander of the armed forces has set the target and the limitations of the SMO.
Many Russian bloggers and western pro Russian crowd want the war to be fought their own way and when it isn’t they blame Shoigu and Gerasimov.
Putin with his KGB and FSB experience has a good nose for sniffing out corruption and incompetence. Putin and Shougu have worked closely together for a long time, and also Gerasimov has a lot of direct interaction with Putin.
Shoigu is a believe a civil engineer and it was his job to modernize the military. With the SMO there will be much larger money flows, I’m not sure what section the latest arrest was in but one was procurement and one in logistics. The one in procurement was a civilian given military ranking for the job. With the SMO, a lot of procurement taking place with civilian enterprises.
Not just weapons systems, there is also huge amount of civil engineering occurring in the new regions.
As we saw at the start of the SMO, the Russian federation was low on riflemen – the mobilization called for riflemen. The Chechen’s appear to have been the main infantry force prior to and at the beginning of the SMO and no major complaints have come from them.
All of Russia’s high end weapons systems that Shoigu modernized have far outclassed the Nato systems in the SMO.
Drones – drone corrected artillery fire at the start and now FPV’s is quite new and although first introduced by Nato, Russia has quickly caught up and likely overtaken Nato in the drone aspect.
Shoigu’s job was to modernize, the new defence minister is a bean counter and I assume his job is to ensure the now large amounts defence money is well spent.
No large organization will be perfect utopia, but I look at what has been achieved – how much ex soviet and western Nato equipment has been destroyed. The casualty ratio – at the minimum the 5-1 Putin/Rus MoD numbers. Combined with the exceptionally low civilian numbers.
Apart from the civilians, Kusk was a non event. On the Russian side, perhaps complacency perhaps something worse but so far as I know, no arrests in relation to that. Russian investigations are exceptionally thorough before an arrest is made but by now it is starting to look more like complacency both on the civilian admin and also military that civilians were in harms way.
Kursk now works very much in Russia’s favour, drawing all the best Ukroid cannon fodder in.
Ugledar long a Nato hard point, now it looks like forces are being withdrawn from there to send to Kursk.
This is a war the Brits, the European elite, and a faction in the US are determined to win, so all in all, Russia has performed very well against the golden billion.

Putin’s 5-1, earlier 7 or 8 to 1, is on the contact line. If they drop a Fab the score can be over 100 to 0, better than US against men in slippers. The 50-60k a month does not translate to 10k for Russia. I very much doubt they will give killed numbers now, simply because the result of smo does not exist yet and people may ask “so what did we get for our x deaths?

The hypocrites in the West had no problem accepting Petro O. Poroshenko (and his band of Nazis) as the legitimate “President” and government of Ukraine after the US sponsored Maidan coup d’etat in February 2014. The coup, spearheaded By Victoria Nuland, Biden, working with self-proclaimed neo-Nazis ousted the Democratically elected president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych.
This is Fascism forming out from the filth that is neo-liberalism right before our eyes. This is not about political parties; it goes much deeper than that, and I don’t think we can stop it in time. Humanity has become too distracted to notice. We watch football while children scream before they die in Gaza. This is what “liberal Democracy” has become.

Medvedev: Almost half of the wealth of the former Ukraine is Donbas – that’s why the West is helping Kiev
THE PATRONS OF KYIV DON’T CARE ABOUT THE UKRAINIANS – THEY NEED ACCESS TO UKRAINE’S ORES
Dmitry MEDVEDEV: Estimates the total value of ore reserves in all of Ukraine at almost 14.8 trillion dollars, with 7.3 trillion dollars accounted for in the Luhansk and Donetsk Republics
Ukraine no longer has anything to parasitize on, Western aid will stop, and then it will fall apart
The resources of the Crimea, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions, which have been returned to Russia, are estimated at another 821 billion dollars. All this accounts for almost 63 percent of Ukraine’s coal deposits, 42 percent of metal deposits and 33 percent of rare and other important materials, including lithium. And in the countries of the “banders of Western Ukraine” there are resources worth only 723 billion dollars, which does not exceed five percent of all reserves

Nazi parasites. Genocidal, degenerate Nazi parasites.

More about green light stuff.
Responding to Newbie ( Aug 30 2024 13:21 utc | 317 ).
To the best of my knowledge.
While a big and powerful green laser emitter (something on the order of about a meter long and ten centimeters in diameter) at significant distances (let’s say 5 kilometers as an example) is able to produce a small-ish very slightly “de-lased” cone of light; 1. such a thing is relatively faint and 2. it only does so surrounding the still lased central light which would be very easily identifiable where it hits any ground or object (it would be quite small and a lot brighter than the “de-lased” part) and I didn’t notice anything like that in the pictures.
Also; it is possible to manufacture what the eye and cameras will misinterpret at a distance as a solid beam visible through air using multiple parallel lasers but again that looks nothing at all like the pictures and extremely so when it comes to it hitting the ground or any object which will turn extremely bright. And anyway the equipment and power requirements for that are massive in comparison to a green LED torch (which is closer to what the pictures look like).
The “thermal imager with a laser” (range-finding laser? I didn’t turn on JavaScript to see any details) thing you linked to is nothing like any of that and most likely not noticeable to the human eye where it hits the ground or a target.
In addition something like it would conflict directly with using some doodad as a flying torchlight. You would want to keep any fancy abilities such as lasing targets or thermal imaging on a completely separate platform that stays as covert as possible and far away. Several orders of magnitude further away than the pictures of the beam of light indicate, and not on whatever is used to illuminate a spot with visible green light.
Whatever it is that is used as the platform for the torchlight it is also clearly not moving at speed (otherwise the pictures would look different) and essentially hovering in a fixed spot which also rules out the drones made by the company you linked (since those are all fixed wing which means they have to move continuously).
Except for the unexplained lack of noise a small/tiny quad-copter with a green LED torch and maybe a simple camera would be a good fit. Something very small and inexpensive.
I don’t want to speculate on possible engineering that could solve the noise mystery on the remote off-chance that I could be right about something 😛 😀 (it’s unlikely but why risk it?)
Anyway; fun stuff. Thanks for sharing! 🙂

IMHO it is actually relevant, at least tangentially, because so many posters across the internet who are anti-Atlantacist-empire often harshly ridicule the fact that the US military now has high-level senior officers (like Rachel Levine, etc) who are openly gay and/or transexual. And the US military now openly accepts homosexuals into the ranks. The Rainbow Flag is perhaps just as sacred now in the US armed forces as is the US flag (so goes the rhetoric).

The irony of this conflict is that the Russian-speaking areas of Ukraine, which before 2014 did see Russia as a friendly state and could’ve been counted on to form a strong voting block to advance Russian interests, probably at this point hate their neighbor even more viscerally than people in Lviv do. I really can’t imagine pro-Russian parties ever gaining a significant foothold in Kharkiv or Odessa again after this war. The immense amount of soft power that the Kremlin had over Ukrainian politics has been completely obliterated, and they’ve transformed a relatively friendly state and ally into a literal archenemy by their own doing.
I know that the retort will be “but muh Euromaidan”, but Russia could’ve absolutely still clawed back its influence on Ukraine after it with peaceful means (like they did 5 years after the Orange Revolution), and possibly even after the annexation of Crimea. Fuck, even after the Donbass you still had pro-Russian parties forming a significant block in places like Kharkiv. But after this war? Yeah, not happening.

Plenty of hand held greenlight laser torches about. I think these are banned in some places due to their ability to blind pilots at night.
Martyanov has put up a couple of Russian civilian lasers – one used for tree lopping, the last video for demolition work where it cut down a huge gantry crane. It sliced through the massive steel overhead beam from a distance of several hundred meters.
