I don’t have a ‘team’, Jake. The Kursk incursion is fucking idiocy. Can I be more plain? Posted by: Doctor Eleven | Aug 23 2024 4:22 utc | 318
Jesus you befuddled sad little man. I know it’s terrifying that you are completely incapable of persuading anyone with your absurdly limited intellect, but this is just embarrassing. Go away. You’re a disgusting anti-intellectual fascist blowhard. Posted by: Wisco | Aug 23 2024 5:23 utc | 329 But why can’t fools see that surprise attacks do not change the major tide of war? Posted by: rk | Aug 23 2024 5:33 utc | 330 I am tired and off to sleep but am wanting a comparison of the volume of petroleum lost by Russia in the ferry incident and that lost on its way to Occupied Palestine today in the ship sunk by Yemen……grin Posted by: psychohistorian | Aug 23 2024 5:34 utc | 331 some really troubled writers here. *[maybe he figures someone is likely to put a bullet in him… why not go to the front and expire as a “Hero of Russia”] Posted by: Melaleuca | Aug 23 2024 5:55 utc | 335 psychohistorian | Aug 23 2024 5:34 utc | 361 Posted by: Melaleuca | Aug 23 2024 5:59 utc | 336 I am going to pose a question. Does anyone here think that Ukraine’s military position would be improved if the offensive penetrated say another 25km? It would come at some significant cost, extend the flanks needed to be protected and also supply lines. It would suck in further scarece reserves of men and equipment, ammo and air defences. All these assets would be in the open and not dug in. And it would further deplete the main Donbas Front. Of course it would be bad for PR but then when have the Russians ever really cared about PR? Now of course it plays to the narrative that Putin is desperate and would resort to nukes or something, thus creating plausible conditions for some NATO FF incident. And even you don’t accept that thesis, it would be hailed as a huge victory and help to ensure the continuing flow of money and weapons. So all that might happen is that Ukraine continued to win the PR war whilst lose the shooting one. And lose it faster as their reserves are expended. Instead of acting to stop and treating the foot immediately which could potentially save it. Posted by: unimperator | Aug 23 2024 6:20 utc | 342 Wondering why we no longer hear any discussion of that big nat gas infrastructure station. Is that now totally in the control of the Ukies? About the only thinks useful in that picnic pack is the artillery shells, and HIMARS if they are aimed at undefended targets. Posted by: Peter AU1 | Aug 23 2024 7:41 utc | 360 The trajectory this thing is going. Here’s a prediction. Posted by: unimperator | Aug 23 2024 7:46 utc | 361
I’d say they had prepared several plans they were raring to try but some (very strange for them) political considerations have been holding them, and now at last they were free to engage. They are General Officers, they differ emotianally from normal people. Risk-reward scale, a key tool in decision-making under uncertainty. Ukrops contemplating final defeat in the Donbass are loading up on risk because big rewards is their only way to break the current dynamics. There was also the strike on the ferry carrying fuel. The propaganda machine say they are Ukie neptune missiles. I think they are telling a bit of a porky there. Posted by: Peter AU1 | Aug 23 2024 9:32 utc | 382 Two points, first the question has been asked by other posters but so far i have not seen any explanation of how could Ukraine build up a force of maybe thirty thousand troops and many armoured vehicles on the Russian border without Russian intel not having knowledge of it? second point where are the Ukrainians getting all this manpower from? i read on here many are Nato troops many Polish, but have any of these bastards been captured? until we see Polish and other NATO soldiers exposed on the TV i am not sure i buy it. For feminized men and hysterical women observing these events of course it was traumatizing. Pragmatical, cold, reasonable state people and military commanders have to be more circumspect.
Nope, citizens die all days for various reasons and a State cannot protect them all, including the impossibility to protect all citizens from terrorist operations as this Ukrainian incursion in Kursk. There is a good reason Russia has launched and anti-terror operation in Kursk. They agree with me (hehehe) that this incursion is more a large terrorist operation than a mini-tiny military offensive. Posted by: Johan Kaspar | Aug 23 2024 10:58 utc | 398 Miltes, I was thinking about this Reuters quote a bit more. When Reuters have quoted something like that and I have checked at an official Russian site, it is always accurate. I haven’t got a book marked addy for the Russian US embassy site
