Suresh | Aug 4 2024 23:34 utc | 99 Posted by: Peter AU1 | Aug 4 2024 23:46 utc | 101 There’s news Russian AD are intercepting Patriot missiles. The assumption is 404 is using Patriot in a SSM role much like the S200 earlier in the conflict. Posted by: Peter AU1 | Aug 4 2024 23:59 utc | 102
That’s pretty much how I understand it. Neo-Banderites from the US and Ukrainian ultra-nationalists who stay behind tne front lines, basically doing PR, organizing meetings, are sending people they kidnap on the streets to be slaughtered, just to please the “sponsors” and get money and weapons. The Banderites and gheir sponsors want parts of Russia for themselves and they are obsessive about it. So, the endgame is pretty clear: no negotiated agreement is on the radar. That either means NATO crews in Ukraine, or landing and taking off from NATO countries. Ukraine simply does not have trained personnel for this. Posted by: anon2020 | Aug 5 2024 12:44 utc | 147 This is interesting because of the source. The KyivPost has always been nothing more than Russia-bashing, Maidan-glorifying yellow journalism. I wonder why they’re willing to print this article. Posted by: GW | Aug 5 2024 12:50 utc | 148 Honzo@111…..no one in Russia has balls big enough to attack any NATO base housing F16’s. The Russians treat red lines like goal posts, agile, quick and moveable. Quite a few strikes in Russian rear areas lately, quite the plume over Lugansk yesterday, something was there, now it’s gone. I have read yesterday on a Telegram channel a transcription of what someone in the Ukrainian OP said. He detailed future targets for long range strikes as the Crinean bridge, the Russian built infrastrucfure in Donbass including the railroads and Rostov-on-the-Don. So they are waiting for the long range missiles that fit the F-16 and the C&C support chain. Posted by: anon2020 | Aug 5 2024 19:02 utc | 169 I think we’re moving closer and closer to drone on drone warfare. E.g. using two drones with a tether between them to sweep the skies and snag ground-tethered drones. Probably also another next step is super optics, with a scan and with a cannon (on ground) Perhaps even automated. Getting closer and closer to Terminator and The Matrix. I can probably see what you mean. Actually I have a similar feel, too. Best I can describe it is that Russian culture, as experienced by me through the Russians I met in Germany, many of whom have a technical or scientific background, tend to approach “problems” of all sorts in a methodical, logical way (i.e., same as maths). They’re not simply using an unfit for purpose pet theory they’ve been taught somewhere, but make up the analysis on the spot; and they also do not calculate for the sake of calculation, but begin and end all deliberation at the human level. Perhaps that is why they’re renowned as technical improvisers, while Germans OTOH tend to be overly perfectionist. Think of an over-engineered MB 600SL vs. the rugged, simple, effective design of the russian aircraft etc. The example is hugely-over simplified for the point, but I hope it gets across. Posted by: persiflo | Aug 5 2024 23:09 utc | 191 Posted by Colonel Cassad. Posted by: spare_truth_01 | Aug 5 2024 23:19 utc | 192 Further to my above: my friend Yuri and I were sitting one summer night in the cathedral garden of Speyer, both of us about 20. He hardly spoke a word of German, so we had to make do conversating. Between beers and a spliff, Yuri picked up a stick and used it to scratch a particularly elegant proof of a simple geometrical problem into the sandy ground where we sat – about volumetric area of spheres stacked into rectangles. He didn’t do it because we were a bit geeky, but because it was entertaining and fun at this moment. Yuri went on to become an electrical engineer, and ruptured his cruciate ligament dancing wildly at a Ska concert. Not really a nerd, just a bright bloke with a great humour and temperament. Your critics about that “Map failures” may be correct, but I’m thinking he made a “good job” on sampling a more wide-spread referring sources (including the UKR Deep State reports of Yours referring here), so why don’t listen to him ?
