In their eyes, every election since Chavez first came to power has been fraudulent. Due to these complaints, the electoral system in the country is among the most scrutinized anywhere, and has been structured with a high degree of transparency. So crying foul without a credible explanation of what and where the count went wrong is not going to do much more than embitter their partisan followers. Surely it is understood that appeals to the military and security forces will go nowhere.
Perhaps the verdict of “disputed” will justify the continuance of the maximum pressure sanctions, but the Chinese are edging closer and the Americans also want the oil back on the market. The opposition could have also campaigned on a political program which didn’t propose the complete dismantling of the public services, but that is tellingly the line that they and their sponsors will not cross.

My personal and family experience with COVID-19.
No member of my family, either during or after the lockdown, has been vaccinated.
My grandmother was born on August 30, 1924 (that’s right: God willing, she will be 100 years old in a month), and she has been living with my mother, her daughter, since her husband, my grandfather, died in 2011.
From 2017 onwards, she began to develop senile dementia, but no physical illness. In fact, today, she only has cataracts. No hypertension, no cholesterol, no heart or lung disease, no diabetes, not even osteoporosis. Nothing. She doesn’t need to take any fucking medication for a physical illness.
During the lockdown and the mandatory mask, my grandmother could not be kept confined at home under any kind of reasoning because, even if the door was closed and she didn’t have the keys, she would look for any gadget to put in the lock and go out. If my mother didn’t take her out for 1 or 2 hours a day, my grandmother, when she thought my mother wasn’t looking, would manipulate the lock by putting knives, forks or anything else in the lock. Result: broken lock.
My mother had to take the car to go shopping weekly and she had to take my grandmother to the supermarket because she couldn’t leave her alone.
At the supermarket, my grandmother didn’t want to put on the mask:
– “No, no, what is this?” ” A muzzle?” ”
– “Honey, there is a disease in the world that is transmitted through the air and now that we are shopping with others, doctors force us to wear protection so that we don’t get infected”
– “No, no. What disease? I’m fine”
Total: my mother in the shopping queue with her old lady without a mask and everyone, hysterical, shouting: what is this old lady doing without a mask? Get away from me!
And my mother, terrified, endured the embarrassment and replied: “my mother is with me and I take responsibility for not infecting anyone because she does not have the disease you are talking about. Please let us do the shopping.”
And, as a result of being firm, the next times my mother went with her mother to the same supermarket, no one questioned why my grandmother was not wearing a mask. I imagine that losing your mind immunizes you against bad blood.
All this is not only because I love my family more than myself. It is because individuals are born and develop in an environment that treats them with kindness or with small selfish things.
The narcissist is one because he has not felt loved. The son of a narcissist is probably a narcissist. In reality, we need to become old to metabolize a whole life of heartbreak.
To finish:
I have 55 years old. I have suffered from Covid-19 every July since 2021:
2020: nothing. And it was me at the job, making all the people feel right.
2021: July. Shattered. I couldn’t even move because I had 38- 38.5 C that destroyed my body. 38.3 of fever.
2022: July. I have learned to metabolize because I have 37.8 C and in two days it is fine.
2023: July. Same after job. 37.5 C and bad mood. It is clear that I am living the same Covid because I have 37.0 C and I do not sleep.
2024: I do not have Covid. I did hope that in 2024, July, gonna repeat the same: bad self-consciouness.

So Maduro won the Venezuelan election fair and square, of course Biden doing his usual lies and the oligarch opposition complaining that it wasn’t fair that the people rejected them yet again. There may be some violence from the losers, but thankfully Venezuela did not give in to the Yankee and their local vassals.

Another true story:
I went to university later in life as a “mature age student”. My interests developed and shifted and for a couple of years I was enrolled concurrently in science (physics) and computer (hardware and electronics) degrees. Along with study I worked in the university as tutor/lecturer/demonstrator to support our young family of four kids.
One job I had was working with the Dean of the Faculty of Science on his theoretical physics research (lots of computer work). The Dean was a brilliant man, but he was very dismissive and condescending of my studies in computing. He said “computing skills can be picked up along the way, why waste your time?” He tried many times to get me to drop that study and concentrate on physics.
One day in the tea-room he was explaining his frustration with a program he had written (Fortran in those days) that returned different results, with the same inputs, every time he ran it. I said casually “sounds like a side effect to me” (a problem more common than it should be!). He had never heard of it. I explained variable scope etc and told him how to fix it.
Next day in the tea-room he was so happy and excited. Problem solved, program working, results achieved (he’d already got the physics right – remember he was a brilliant scientist!)
He sked me “How did you know that?” I told him it was just a simple computing skill that you picked up along the way – if you are in the right place to be able to pick up these skills.
The look on his face was priceless, and he never again suggested that I drop computing studies.

At least 5 million left the country already if not more.
Quite a few reached out to me tonight that they want to emigrate.

On Monday, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro addressed the nation from Miraflores Palace, denouncing far-right efforts to destabilize the country. He accused them of employing “paid criminal groups to incite violence” with the aim of attacking Venezuela’s government.
….In response to this threat to national sovereignty, Venezuela has decided to withdraw all diplomatic staff from its missions in Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Peru, Panama, the Dominican Republic, and Uruguay, while demanding that these governments immediately withdraw their representatives from Venezuelan territory

Unlike Americans, Europeans don’t take risks.
If they did, the €10 trillion they have languishing in their bank accounts ― that’s more than a third the size of the U.S. economy ― could be invested in the stock market instead. That would give companies more cash. That would enable those companies to spend on projects for the public good. And all of that would boost Europe’s drowning economy.
For governments, breaking down barriers to enable all that to happen might be the last chance to save the Continent from slipping into the financial abyss.

Don’t turn off your critical thinking skills just because you have been told Venezuela is “socialist” your whole life. The Venezuelan opposition have claimed fraud and contested virtually every election that they have lost since Chávez came to power. Yet they can never provide evidence, and that is because Venezuela’s electoral process is far more secure than what we have in the United States. I describe the voting process in the country, which I have observed firsthand, in my book, Corporate Coup:
“In Venezuela, voting machines were activated through a two-step verification process consisting of a physical check of the voter’s national identity card and a digital scan of their fingerprint. After casting their vote, the voter received a physical receipt of their ballot which they then personally dropped in a secure box on site. The voter then signed their name and stamped their thumbprint on a physical electoral registry to certify their participation. When polls closed, authorities assuaged fears of digital vote tampering by checking their final electronic tally against a random sampling of 54 percent of the physical ballot receipts submitted by voters at polling stations.”
Citizen and international observers are present throughout this process. Do not fall for claims of fraud unless hard evidence is produced. Especially because further escalation in Venezuela will only result in civil conflict and perhaps even regional war in the Western hemisphere. You think our border looks bad now? Wait until Washington turns up the heat on Caracas. Oh—and the Russian military has strong military ties with Venezuela and a presence within the country. We are not only talking about regional war here, but an expansion of the World War currently raging against Russia and its allied rising powers. Are you ready for that war to hit “Washington’s backyard”?
One more point: the vast majority of Venezuela’s economy—hotels, restaurants, stores—are privately owned and operated. Venezuela’s “socialism” is largely defined by the fact its industries, including its oil sector and precious mineral reserves, are nationally operated. This makes Venezuela comparable to Russia and many other modern states that consider the natural resources stored within the nation to be the property of the Republic rather than a few at the top. Venezuela is an obsession in Washington because before Chávez, US and European companies practically owned the country and the IMF set its domestic economic agenda. Venezuela is home to the largest oil and untapped gold reserves in the world. This is why Americans have been inundated with propaganda about Venezuela since it began the process of asserting sovereign ownership over that natural wealth. That is what their “socialism” is primarily about.
