It seems that it does create a deterrent effect on Iran. All Israel needs to do is scramble multiple F35’s armed with nukes, and Iran has no reasonable likelihood of being able to shoot them all down.

Not really, not in my opinion and histlorical knowledge he doesn’t.
Crooke papers over things. He presents minutia and posits import where none exists. He presents info as if it is RARE knowledge and he’s all wise when all it is is well known long trodden realities of Israel-Palestine conflict.
Then prtends to tie it all toghtehr into soe thing profound and timely when actauly he just said nothing at all of any importance or relevance to today.
Throwing in academic words like “eschatological” that no one would use in normal life to make his article seem all the more “important”, “impressive”, and “insightful” —
eschatology, the doctrine of the last things. It was originally a Western term, referring to Jewish, Christian, and Muslim beliefs about the end of history, the resurrection of the dead, the Last Judgment, the messianic era, and the problem of theodicy (the vindication of God’s justice).
It’s a Nothing-Burger … a cheap distraction from the real story of death and destruction and fascist terror and collective insanity.
Can anyone name one thing they learned from Crooke that matters or educates one in the facts on the ground? (I suspect not)

Theism, eschatology and similar have a lot to do with what is occuring in Palestine today.
Throughout history “sets” of people have identified with and been led, have supplied the means to, those who represent one certain belief or another.
An easier more mundane example is “nationality” and its construct of duty and legiance.
They just do not have to do with current events in the way often depicted. That is to say, military planing is not based on building a new temple, that without ignoring that those in comand do actually have a religious bias to their thinking.
However, look at support in say the US towards “Israel” . Notice the theological lines that exist ? They are obvious. Without the various belief systems in place questioning would normaly be higher, and support would likely be lower.
Those who support “Israel” in the US have tended towards the line Islam = Terrorists= Palestinian, “Israel”= Biblical homeland = Right.
Ask Pompeo, a politician won’t expose such strong views unless he knows there is an audience ready to support them or directions related.

There is considerable confusion about what was a soviet and how people became representatives. Basically Soviets were made of of workplace delegates from all the offices, shops, military and factories in the USSR (ie workplaces). Delegates were elected by workers at each workplace and then they joined together with other delegates from other workplaces and formed a Soviet. This is known as industrial democracy and was practised in many countries in the West but we didn’t call them Soviets we called them Trades & Labour Councils or something similar.
There is no mystery about any of this, if there was slightly more jews in the Soviets than in the population that was because they had been determined to be the best person for the shop by fellow workers. If there had been some sort of deliberate attempt to judicise the Soviets workers would have caught om fast and ceased voting for jews. The fact that didn’t happen shows there was no conspiracy other than by paranoid fascist xtians nearly 100 years after the fact.
ps One plus of this thread has been that it has increased my ‘BLOCKED’ list at MoA. I will answer for Lydia, Arch. Obviously not. She is quoting a Psalm of David, ancestor of Christ – David was a flawed man and not a prophet, like most of us. What is it in these verses that offends you? The call for wisdom? Judgment? Righteousness? Mercy? The God David reminds us of is not that of these genocidal men. He never was. Here is what a soon to come Easter verse will say about David:

Do you dance for joy ever, Arch? I really hope you do. Palestinians took refuge in a church in Gaza, the third oldest one in all the world. It was bombed. Pepe promised a “serious update”. Thus far all we have is brainstorming. And eschatology has everything to do with how the evangelical Christians are with Israel 100%. Speaking of planting, I would not have believed it is the real “plant” until I saw the trailer of the film I am Israel, which was screened at Knesset. Crooke does tend to overemphasize this, but he is partially correct in that Netanyahu’s sidekicks and, perhaps, Netanyahu himself, do consider the eschatological angle, as well as the Christian Zionist nutcases.
But you are correct that this was originally a British imperial project, at least until the sun set on the empire. It is still, essentially a “Western” imperialist project led by the US and various corporate and financial entities in the “West”.
The US, EU, UK, NATO support for the Zionists and the Neonazis in Ukraine, among others have the same ultimate objective – corporate and financial global conquest. All of the rest is just a means to that end irrespective of what some locals imagine.

To destroy the old class system with all its many problems, a new one arises promulgating mass murder to achieve its ends.
Certainty anathemizes uncertainty which demands openness and humility. The desire to control outcomes (like most Woke policies) is eschatological in all but doctrine. Satan promises certainty of outcome. Certainty of a preconceived outcome, which is a thought, an abstraction, a lie.

Alistaire Crooke’s language is sounding very prophetic lately as if he thinks he’s writing an epic. He’s always been wishing for the Great Raproachement, in which Ithe “truly transformative solution would be for an Israeli leader to think the ‘unthinkable’ – to think of one state between the River and the Sea.
And, for Israel – tasting the bitter herbs of ‘things fallen apart’ – to talk directly with Iran.
Surely this would be wonderful I’m sure all would agree, it goes without saying, but Crooke’s not saying much about what’s happening ‘on the ground.’
