Our source reports that the defense fortification line of the Ukrainian Armed Forces “named after Zelensky” will not be able to stop the real offensive of the Russians.

Claims of having adapted FAB-250s to be fired from Tornado-S aren’t going away. There is an attached video that’s mostly stock footage except for the last 20 seconds or so which shows a production line where FABs are indeed being adapted in some way. A few frames show FABs that appear to have had their suspension lugs removed or cut off, which would be consistent with them being adapted for a launch tube. There is no confirmation of deployable wings or steering surfaces in the limited footage.

On the issue of what carrier can handle FAB-3000/5000/9000
The go to answer is Strategic Bombers such as the Tu-160 / Tu-95.
However, they would need some modifications to be able to perform that role. Also, the widespread opinion is that they would not be risked over the frontline. Also, the cost of using them is fairly high.
The other option is the Tu-22M3 bombers which could carry 2 x FAB-3000s on external pylons (it’s believed they wouldn’t fit inside the bomb bay).
The limitations for the strategic bombers also apply here but to a somewhat lesser degree….personally, I think they will be the carriers.
Some commentators are suggesting using Il-76 transport aircraft, which can in theory carry anywhere from 10-15 x FAB-3000s or 5-10 of the bigger bombs.
The bombs would be dropped from the rear via a parachute assisted system

Armata is twice as expensive as its predecessor… and has to be build first.
The older models serve their purpose well, exist and are in comparison cheap.
All MBTs are very susceptible to top attacks by FPV or suicide drones.

Go back to the Ukraine maps of the first week. Pro Russian maps simply painted broad swathes of red and are utterly useless, whereas pro Ukraine maps showed narrow lines of advance. Then mark in all nuclear sites and pentagon biolabs.
Day seven was about when the Americans finally stopped the advance, mostly by setting up artillery ambushes on the routes it new the Russians would take.
Day seven shows the limit of the advance from Kherson city towards the South Ukraine Nuclear Power Plant. They were stopped about 20k from it.

ZNPP. According to Grosse, there was something like 30 tons of plutonium and 40 tons of enriched uranium there. Russia took that site very quickly. Ukraine does not make its own fuel rods so what was that amount of Uranium and plutonium doing there?
Russia took and held Chernobyl for awhile. There is the Kharkov research reactor. Russia got to within several k’s of it and may have got special forces into it.
As for biolabs, Russia quickly overran a number of these, but mostly collection labs. The big ones were in the center of Kiev and in Odessa. One lab north of Kiev and about another four or five surrounding Kiev. Two in Kharkov area, one Russia definitely took, the other I wasn’t able to get precise location so it may or may not have been taken. Two in the Mariupol both taken, one in Lugansk region possibly one other somewhere.
US had ordered all documentation to be destroyed the evening before. The fast drive in the first week was to quickly reach these sites. The big document haul was at Rubizhne where they had been buried rather than burned.
In most lines of advance, they kept pushing towards the next nuke or bio sites until the leading armoured columns were destroyed in artillery ambushes.

It doesn’t have to be military stuff, economic stuff can be just as anti-social, IMO.
Most people are captured by ideas and narratives. Not specifications. Take it from someone who worked a part of his life in engineering. The layman’s eyes roll up into their head quickly as most people are not suited to thinking in abstractions.
This leads me to believe that the person “communicating” in that manner isn’t trying to connect with others, but rather to scratch that aforementioned tic.

If you read Russian doctrine concerning the political leadership you would know that the Russians have a policy of leaving the civilian government institutions intact during a military conflict for a number of reasons.
First there is no political leadership to negotiate a surrender or cease fire and no government institutions like police and judiciary they are then forced to take the entire country by military force and are then stuck with governing millions of hostile destitute Ukrainians. No Russian general wants the job of managing garbage collection for Ukraine and the Russians certainly don’t want a terrorist failed state on their border.
Second they are at war with a regime not the Ukrainian people hence the SMO and not a declared war on the country. Ukraine is a country of Russian speakers … do you not think that Russian operatives have infiltrated Ukraine for years could assassinate whoever they wished or perform terrorist attacks equal or worse than the Ukrainian attacks on Russia if they wanted to?
Third you say the Russians aren’t attacking Ukrainian yet in the last 2 weeks they’ve fired at least half a dozen zircon missiles at bunkers deep inside Ukraine including the headquarters of the SBU in Kiev. Would you not agree that this constitutes an attack to “take out Ukrainian decision centers” or should they be wasting missiles on the Kiev department of sanitation?

I think the question is, who to assassinate? If Elensky was actually the leader of Ukraine with policy making power, now that his legitimacy is over, it might be very useful to assassinate him, to create confusion in the mechanisms of control and decision making and initiate a contest for power inside the regime. However, he is not that, so killing him is probably pointless. There are, however, individuals in theater who have functional control over operations, and targeting them can be very disruptive in a situation that is already verging on chaos. Going after the leadership of SBU and particular Nazi formations might give various actors within the government and military ‘operational space’ to bring the war to an end. I don’t think any of us can possibly know who would have to be targeted and what the specific consequences would be, let alone the likelihood of such operations being carried out in a useful way, so for me it’s a case of ‘if it happens, it happens, it wouldn’t surprise me, but I’m not expecting it.’

Pieces I’ve read on the persecution of the church in the Borderland gave the impression that the cadre in charge, Podolyak, is a fanatic on the subject and views this as his personal crusade. This might or might not happen, but it is worthwhile remembering that one factor of the SMO, is that it had “limited” (or fixed) financial backing.
This has had one underestimated advantage; that the total amount, ex- the “war” expenditure, allowed for new infrastucture and general well-being projects for the general population in Russia. Things like schools, metro stations, housing, Health services and road improvement, via a multitude of small steps. (Just like the ones that the US is now complaining that they do NOT have due to the Pentagon budgets. Potholed roads, junk bridges, teetering trains and lousy public services).
Hitler built motorways, and Napoleon planted Platane trees along new straight roads for shade for his troops when marching to a new destination. They knew their logistics would play a key role.
By NOT spending all it’s available capital on one part of the “war” effort, the “home” logistical base and probably the “happiness” factor of the Russians was vastly improved (Morale improves without beatings).
China has profited equally as can be seen by the incredible changes in lifestyles, and infrastructre. (High speed trains, research, education, mind-blowing cities et al.) All made possible because they did NOT spend all their capital on non-productive industries. They have allowed themselves to increase their armed forces, by NOT using them, or spreading them around the planet.

Power surges and destruction of appliances is an interesting aspect, but then when I thought about, power surges did occur in the earlier strikes against the grid yet large scale destruction of appliances was not reported. I believe a number of transformers though were destroyed by voltage surges. I guess those transformers act as a circuit breaker to minimize surges in the low voltage lines that connect to houses and factories.

Not really. Distribution level transformers at the residential level are class 1 500 KVA in US. These are protected by a fuse or at higher voltages, 33KV, a medium voltage circuit breaker is used.
These protection devices are there to protect the transformer, not your house. The transformer can take a range of input voltages before those come into play and
this means they can send higher voltage to your meter.
The fact they protect your house somewhat is just a feature of its input being controlled to protect the transformer.
If a transformer was instantly taken out by explosives it would just be destroyed but voltage surges into the transformer can send a spike to the house depending on a lot of variables.
It’s always good practice to turn off breaker for anything sensitive until the power has been back on for at least several minutes so voltage can stabilize.
Modern appliances can handle more of a variance in voltage than they used to but aren’t immune to it.
I would think they have comparable protections there. The old Soviet gear was pretty rugged, Ive seen some of it while traveling.
So to sum up, the transformers protection devices may somewhat limit voltage surges but they do not act as a circuit breaker to protect your home. It is being built into current electrical code here that new panels being installed at the residential level have whole home surge protection.
