John Mearsheimer doesn’t see a “final solution” for a good and solid solution for ending the war in the Ukraine. It will become a socalled “frozen conflict” that can be “re-ignited” at any time. Mearsheimer thinks the US and the UK are the biggest obstacles to a peaceful solution of the war. It was the US and UK who “pushed” the Ukraine (in march / april 2023) into continueing the war. The EU expansion into eastern Europe has a military component and that component is called “NATO”. But NATO is predominantly a US (military) “project”. In that regard the EU is an extension of NATO and the US.
For me the conclusion is clear; there will flow A LOT OF water throught the Rhine, the Danube, the Dnjepr or the Wolga before all the “mistrust” has been removed in the relationship among the EU, US Russia and the Ukraine.
