Moon of Alabama Brecht quote

Ukraine – France Already Lost In Odessa

The French president Emmanuel Micron has gone a bit crazy:

Europe’s credibility will be destroyed if Russia is allowed to win in Ukraine, Emmanuel Macron has warned, as he defended his refusal to rule out sending troops to the country.

The war in Ukraine is “existential for our Europe and for France”, Mr Macron said in the interview on France 2 and TF1.

“Do you think that the Poles, the Lithuanians, the Estonians, the Romanians and the Bulgarians could remain at peace for a second [in the event of a Russian victory in Ukraine]?” he asked. “If Russia wins this war, Europe’s credibility would be reduced to zero.”

Micron fails to recognize that Europe does not have any credibility it could lose. Just ask those ~150 countries who have not sanctioned Russia. They know very well that the 2014 U.S./EU coup in Kiev started the mess and that the failure, especially of France and Germany, to force Kiev to implement the Minsk agreements led to its escalation.

Failing as the guarantor of agreements without any attempts to enforce them leaves one's credibility behind.

Trying to regain land for Ukraine that it had lost a decade ago is similar nonsense:

"We are doing everything we can to help Ukraine defeat Russia, because I will say it very simply: There can be no lasting peace if there is no sovereignty, if there is no return to Ukraine's internationally recognized borders, including Crimea," Macron said during the TV interview.

Interestingly Micron does not say how he will attempt to achieve that. The front is cracking everywhere and Ukraine is running out of men who are capable and willing to fight.

France could probably send 30,000 troops to Ukraine but what good could those do? It does not have the troops and equipment for a real fight with Russia. The logistics alone, vulnerable to Russian attacks, would be a nightmare.

The France dream of ruling Odessa already died during the chaos at the end of the first world war 105 years ago (edited machine translation):

December 12, 1918. Renault tanks unloading in Odessa – bigger

Emmanuel Macron's statement about the possibility of introducing French troops to Ukraine and, in particular, to Odessa fell almost on a round date: exactly 105 years ago, the French army was already on Ukrainian territory. Very briefly, though. But the French had a considerable influence on the course of events. Although not at all in favor of Ukraine: they did not allow the capture of Odessa by the troops of the Ukrainian People's Republic, transferred formal power over the city to the Russian White Guards, actually quarreled with the local rule of Hetman Grigoriev, who went over to the side of the Bolsheviks, which played a huge role in the subsequent military collapse of the UPR.

In the end, after several months of being in Southern Palmyra, the French troops were thoroughly decomposed by Bolshevik agitation, sang "Internationale" in pubs, and as a result, the French command decided to leave Odessa in early April 1919, calling it "unloading" the city in order to reduce the food shortage.

There were at that time French, Polish, Serbian, Greek, German, British and other troops involved. The Russians had split into Reds and Whites and several nationalistic Ukrainian groupings tried and failed to win a war against everyone else. The Cossack Hetman Grigoriev was probably the most interesting character of all. As is historically typical for his kind he and his troops fought for practically all parties in the war changing loyalties on a whim whenever convenient.

If France would again go to Odessa who could it really trust in a fight? The Nazi groupings? The government in Kiev which they mostly oppose? The Russia partisans who increase their activities in Ukraine day by day?

How would it react should such a missile strike, even by chance, would hit its troops camp?

Russians With Attitude @RWApodcast – 13:46 UTC · Mar 15, 2024

From what we have seen from Ukrainian media so far, today's Russian missile strike against an AFU temporary base in Odessa killed:
– Alexander Gostishev, former head of the National Police in Odessa, commander of the "Tsunami" "Assault Regiment" (formed from policemen, fought in Bakhmut, part of the "Liut" Brigade, an ongoing project to militarize and mobilize Ukrainian police staff to the frontlines)
– Sergey Tetyukhin, former deputy mayor of Odessa, who volunteered to join the AFU last year
– Dmitry Abramenko, deputy head of the National Police in Odessa
As the day goes on, more names might appear.

The French people for one do not seem to be interested in joining the mess:

In an Odoxa poll, 68 percent of French respondents said Macron's comments on Western troops in Ukraine were "wrong."

Macron's party will likely lose in the upcoming election to the European parliament. Let's hope that other leaders do not fall for the electioneering stunt he is providing with such nonsensical talk.

Nicolas Dupont-Aignan is not alone among those in France who see Emmanuel Macron as the real enemy of the French state. François Asselineau on the right has pointed out how Macron declared to have suffered a nervous “depression” a few months back. At the same time the French fearless leader said he was doing the job for all his ministers and the prime minister combined. I will look to see if I can find more on Asselineau’s assertions because, taken in the context of his recent bravado, it is very disturbing even shocking that a person who is so mentally handicapped could be allowed to do what he is trying to do. Another take on the saga comes from Michel Onfray a political philosopher on the left. Onfray thinks that Macron’s real intention is to destroy – really destroy – France, its farmers et al and then postulate for the new Europresidency post that will be created for him. Given Macron’s obvious psychological problems: narcissism, strangely ambiguous sexuality, inability to listen, non stop blabla on the TV, the theatrical macronarama has divided the country as never before. But some have pointed out that his most important partner, German chancellor Olaf Scholz can no longer put up his arrogance. Just lately, Scholz seems to have mellowed a bit, possibly because there are rumors of Putin’s iton to denounce the 2+4 treaty if Germany becomes more belligerant. Thought please….

Notice the inability of the Ukrainians to operate above brigade strength, seriously impacting their offensive capabilities and resulting in a statement, not a roll back and consolidation, even though they achieved a numerical superiority. It also helps that the pursuing Russian regiments were most likely operating an advance guard that is designed to be sequentially reinforced, if it is blocked, hence the stalemate. As many predicted, the Ukrainian blocking forces will be committed, attrited, and have to retreat due to insecure flanks, after causing only a temporary delay. 15 Brigades is a major commitment that will just accelerate the strategic defeat of Ukraine, just as the German latter-war offensives had done. The fighting, erupting all across the line of contact, is just the spasms of a dying regime, dangerous in defeat, but unable to stop its inevitable fate.

The fact that AFU has piled up ’15 brigades’ (at what strength. 10 – 60%?) on the direct contact line will certainly delay Russian army and force them to build up their supplies, position their artillery and air defense and drone units closer to the current line for support, and prepare for another protracted and stationary grind.
Ultimately, it will probably give AFU more time to build their next line, but the question is whom benefits from the total net balance of time delay vs. attrition more.

Who’s idea was it to waste thousands of troops and a considerable amount of equipment on the Russian border? Did they think Russia lacked reserves to force them back? Trying to take pressure off the Donbas front and buy a few more weeks in hopes of receiving western funds and equipment? Now they lost their expeditionary force in Odessa as well.

The amount of mercenaries flowing into Ukraine numerically should have plateaued within a year of SMO start, and on the decline ever since.
What effect will Micron’s ‘performance’ have on the number of new voluntary mercs to join? Not much, the limits of voluntary basis have been reached long ago.
Maybe this is also a partial reason they are talking about sending troops. Because they can’t scrape up any more volunteers. And the other reason being, obviously the actual intention is the partition of Ukraine. And Odessa is included on the intended partition of Nato side.

I think you are missing the meta strategy, and mistaking tactics for strategy. Survival and power are the ultimate goals, everything else is a tactic. Neoliberalism and Neocon warmongering are tactics for the expansion and consolidation of power. They have both been very successful, but like any successful offensive, they have exhausted their ‘combat capabilities’ and can’t be continued. Many operatives of the ruling class do not understand this, but there is a massive change in the system in the offing one way or another due to the current crisis of capitalism, and to avoid revolution of the socialist kind, the PTB is attempting create one of a feudal/monarchical kind with the kind of outward trappings of controlled democracy that the autocrats of Europe once tried to use to contain the development of the bourgeoisie. The difference here is that the competition within the highest levels of the big bourgeoisie has concentrated their power to the point at which a new feudalism of their own making is a viable path to stabilizing their power- for a time, possibly, due to the rapidly advancing technology of production, surveillance and ideological control, for a long time.
If China and Russia can implement economically viable, politically stable systems based on control of essential industries by state power, and a sane leadership core that attends to the needs of the masses, the western PTB believe they can do the same, and the WEF is openly preparing for this transition away from ‘competitive’ capitalism.
Call it state capitalism, call it velvet glove fascism, call it neofeudalism, the essential foundation is a level of productivity and concentration of capital that makes grinding the poor unnecessary and costly. At this stage of capitalism, the realization of profit by the mechanism of exchange is obsolete and simply destabilizing.
It’s highly likely that the western PTB will fail to make this transition, but they are certainly trying.

“Ironically France is now opposing a Russia that is culturally and economically White Russian. Which is why the Bolshevik families in the Former West have instigated this war.”
This is so twisted and ignorant on so many levels that it is difficult to know where to start. The idea however of ‘Bolshevik families in the west’ bears no resemblance to the actuality of people like Clinton, Blinken, Nuland etc and the upper echelons of the CIA who are all extreme right wing neo-liberals, even if some of them may have had royalist, ‘White’ or rightist ancestors who fled Russia after 1917.

A preference for past response mechanisms, instead of adaptive change, is the hall mark of an organisation that has increasingly replaced competence, as a prime requisite of command, for ideological purity. Trapped by their mediocrity they stick stubbornly to the playbook, unaware or unable to understand that their opponent’s have also read it. The Ukrainian Army is a military equivalent of Disney, endlessly churning out the same failed ‘product’.

The German response to Soviet bridgeheads and advances was an armoured attack on the flanks of the penetration. It worked with devastating results in the early to mid-war period, but by ‘44 guess where the Russians deployed the majority of their wheeled and armoured AT assets?
Posted by: unimperator | Mar 16 2024 14:43 utc | 304
Russia, as these forces are being encountered in far more advantageous situations, than if they were being used as armoured reserve, in an integrated and fortified MLR, same with their supporting arms and logistic support.

Follow the money, Canuck. How do people become billionaires? Hard work? Brilliance? Where’s my billion dollars? To become an overnight billionaire you need access to massive amounts of capital. Period. You don’t get that from posting a Go Fund Me, or standing by the entrance to the local supermarket with a cardboard sign. Musk and Vivek were groomed for their roles from way back, by people with lots of money, and the connections to make the necessary government contracts or financial manipulations work.
Imagine for a moment that you are an evil mastermind with almost unlimited resources (you can print money, for fuxxakes) and you want to control the institutions of ‘democracy.’ You can coordinate media campaigns, you can shape educational policy, you can create celebrities and make chosen individuals immensely wealthy or politically powerful.
Now- and this is the hard part- pretend you have a lot of foresight. How do you use these resources to keep control of the game into the long-term future? You create your own opposition. You position people to control dissent, herd the masses into ‘safe’ forms of resistance, so that they will act in your interests, not in their own. Do you recall the French Revolution? The American Revolution? Both of these used ridiculous but effective propaganda to mobilize the poor to throw off the restraints that feudalism placed on the bourgeoisie. This has demonstrably enriched the bourgeoisie, enhanced their power and control, and failed to create similar benefits to the working class. You think the big winners forgot how to do this? Yeesh.

The war in Ukraine has significantly strengthened the Finnish defense industry. The country produced five times more ammunition compared to the pre-war period. This was reported by the publication Yle.
Compared to two years ago, domestic ammunition production has already increased fivefold, says Frans Peltonen, a special expert at the Ministry of Defense. According to him, the current decisions of the EU and the state on funding will double the current level.
If the investment is implemented, Finland will produce ten times more ammunition than before the start of the war in Ukraine. They will strengthen the country’s own capabilities and be sold to partners, as well as provided to Ukraine as military aid.

A railway’esq coupling between robodogs might provide much the same benefit. Also, think increasingly robust comms and increasingly proficient autonomy, to fill in during comms blackouts, rather than human presence.
Drones = telepresence.
Posted by: anon2020 | Mar 16 2024 11:05 utc | 268
Dogs are complex individually, more so in groups. Robust comms would certainly give tremendous advantages, but every advance in comms is met by advances in ECM. A human operator close to a drone swarm has the best chance of avoiding this, via things like LOS laser comms, but even these can be disrupted once the operators are spotted. Long range comms are naturally more vulnerable. Autonomy is great, but isn’t there yet. At some point, you still have to get humans into the positions you’re attacking.
I like centipedes because they are robust, low-observability, all-terrain (can even function in water hazards) and can be designed to protect the operator pretty effectively against anything other than a direct hit. If the operator has control of a swarm of drone centipedes, so much the better, but over dependence on remote operation could mean an entire fighting force might be disabled by a single ECM breakthrough.
The key element of a centipede, btw, is not the flexibility of the torso, but the large number of limbs that work by simple wave-like motions. These can be mounted on a single, rigid body, so imagine a low-profile cockroach with two dozen small legs that individually basically work like oars.

I believe you’re a geological engineer, warfare is similar, once you understand its rules and patterns, divination is relatively straight forward. The trouble is trying to identify the signal through the noise, which is why SM has been increasingly weaponised in this conflict, acting as an obscurant and false signal generator.
Knew a geologist who worked on the drilling platforms, he used to say, the finding was never difficult, the tricky part was the, ‘where to look’ bit. Same with the SMO, this why I gravitated to MOA, the open sources I used hindered, not helped, my efforts, so I post on a site, where I actively object to most of its ideological content, but find invaluable in helping me in the ‘where to look’ bit.

It is an amazing thought to walk the place of America, at work or Church, at the store or with neighbors, and to think to yourself: “this person in front of me…I wonder if they are for the Russians or for the imperialists?”
Although covid has become a verboten topic and has sunk into unspeakable acts that have shamed those who believed its lies, still some cling to the west’s power struggle with the rising south.
I can not adequately relate how deeply this struggle with Russia is affecting the common American and is basically tearing at the very foundation of its identity.
Because I walk these streets and am careful in speaking wrt Russia (my job and my role at my Church is so awash with true-believers), I feel utterly alien like Kafka, ready to be found out and taken away by agents without even being allowed to defend myself.
This ties in to all the talk about transgenderism on the last post: their idea of identity is crap. If you do not realize that we are being primed to confess our undying allegiance to destroying those who would challenge the west in its imperialism, and if you insist that your identity is your own and not tied up to this greater struggle of truth at the macro level, YOU are being deceived.
You are not a threat to them. You are a good little toy who will be used accordingly when the shtf; you will find yourself wondering how the people that staunchly defended you a moment ago, now are pointing their finger at you.
When they can not push others around abroad, they will come home and have to find someone around here to bully.

A main body could have a number of mission specific modules that would locate and attach to it, so a ground microphone, could become an aerial camera and then either a smart mine, or top attack munition. The RN also mounted a series of exercises that utilised 3D printers to manufacture bespoke drones, that were tailored for the particular missions, again a capability that either armoured vehicles, or specialised ground platforms could replicate. Drone war is in its infancy and the honeymoon period is rapidly coming to an end for the operators and their polities craft.

Video documentary from the carriage (railway) and equipment plant in Mariupol. I believe this is the northern subsidiary of the Azovstal complex. It received steel parts from the now destroyed foundry and assembled the cars. Perhaps they forged the wheels and axles here as well. Video was shot last fall and the plant manager said it would take another six months to clear the damaged areas and repair the roof, provide power and gas, and restart production. Laid off workers are receiving salary and many plan to return. Enterprise now controlled by Donetsk. Russian with English subs.

I take it the streets you walk are located in Blue territory, the MAGAites I know are so thoroughly ‘based’ they make some of the lefties here seem reactionary globalists. The tear it down and rebuild movement is building from a minority opinion to becoming seen as an essential mechanism for the salvation of the Republic, fuelled by the constant stream of regime depravities and deceptions. Underestimate America at your peril, just ask the Brits who still are resentful of the ‘septic-tanks’.

Vivek is a stock pump and dump financier, sad that you are blinded to the reality of this charlatan. He wants to gut the ability of the people, through the state, to have any control on extractive and looting capitalists such as himself. Jimmy Dore nailed it with “I would not buy a used car from this guy”, he is very slick in hiding his true self and his true motives.

colonies (trading centres)
Posted by: Barrel Brown | Mar 16 2024 11:29 utc | 270
A “colony” (Latin. colonia) is a military garrison or outpost also habited by coloni—active duty “Roman” soldiers, “Roman” army veterans with their families and land grants, and whomsoever survived legiōnis “settlement”.
Here is a fanciful interpretation of Greek ἀποικία, cradle of democracy—before “Thucydides Trap” discovered c. 2012 CE by US American scientist and FT scholar, Graham Allison.

The word apoikia was one of two that the Greeks used to describe their ‘colonies’, and it was used to describe settlements that were a “home away from home” (Whitley, p. 124). The apoikiai retained connections with the mother city, where the majority of the population and the founder would have originated from. In theory, apoikiai could even call on the mother city in times of need. This is markedly different from the emporion [ἐμπόριον, evidently, a euphemism for piracy]. This word described the other type of Greek colony, which was closer to a trading outpost than an independent political community, and emporia did not always have mother cities [metropole].
There was variety in the Greek process of ‘colonisation’, and this may have reflected the varying motivations for emigration and the establishment of apoikiai. Rapid population growth, political unrest in the mother city, desire for increased trade, and a search for greater agricultural opportunities are several factors that could have motivated the establishment of apoikiai. In most cases it would be a combination of factors, and there would have been different motivations for different locations….

Same with the SMO, this why I gravitated to MOA, the open sources I used hindered, not helped, my efforts, so I post on a site, where I actively object to most of its ideological content, but find invaluable in helping me in the ‘where to look’ bit.”

I wish I was a geological engineer, but sadly I am not.
In university (University of Toronto) I took geology, history, computer science (1), English, reloigion, philosophy and psychology. I finished with a BA in Histroy and Philosophy.
I worked in the financial world then became mineral prospector then a principal in a few exploration/mining firms.
Geological engineers work with me-but they would say that “canuk knows just enough about geology to be dangerous”.
As for learning military stuff-I have a few great tutors-thank you!
1. I took a higher level computer course 400 series. In 1984 there was about 60 people originally-about 10 white people and 50 Chinese from Hong Kong or China mainland but at the first semester with it being a tough course all the ‘white people’, except Dylan (he too was of Irish descent) and I, dropped the course.
I should have dropped it too as it was very difficult for me yet I was paying my own ticket (no student loans, mother fled to Europe after the divorce, and my father was in bankruptcy proceedings) there was no way I was going to drop out lose $150 bucks and have to sign up for a new course and pay $300..at that time they were huge sums for me..
The real problem was the Chineses all worked together and Dylan and I worked together beside this huge computer (an apple phone has probably more computing capacity today than our monstrosity had ) where you submitted your program then the computer would shoot it back to you where you had mistakes (loops etc.) and eventually after many many submissions you would get it to work.
There was one problem- Dylan wasn’t any smarter than me and we couldn’t get our cards to submit-the computer would just shoot them out-so we were fucked.
Then Canuk came up with a cunning scheme: ‘I would go over to the other side where our smarter counterparts were and take one of those cards that had been taken in and they threw it into the garbage as they did the next submission-I retrieved a thrown out card then Dylan and I were in business.
However, at the end of the term the smart ones began to figure out that I was stealing their trash. So when I went over to the garbage can one burly Chinese fellow grabbed it. And put it to his side. Dylan wasn’t supporting me there were 5 or 6 of the smart ones present so what did I do?
I did a Mannix roll and kicked the garbage can as hard as I could and as anticipated, cards flew everywhere- I snatched one up and sprinted away-later Dylan and I came back and got our project done.
The final exam came. Write 4 programs in 3 hours.. I did the best I could I got through about 2 1/2 but towards the end of the session a student was banging his chair so badly the proctor looked up-yes that whole row was cheating one doing a program then sending it along to the next guy….
All six were mainline Chinese and they did not stop at Go they were deported back to China.
I finished with a 56; Dylan didn’t make it-he got a 47. It was proudest academic moment as I worked harder than I ever did at any other course and I was the only white person to pass.

Wikipedia will tell you Jacob Schiff was German but if he entirely financed the Bolsheviks who murdered the Tsar and all of his young children, that makes Jacob a Bolshevik doesn’t it ? (It does)
But you and everyone else, like I do, can just call them JEWS.
Any jewish immigrants from Russia post 1900 are elligible to be called Bolsheviks and they could have had a critcal role in the revolution without physically being there. They could also have and further Bolshevik values such as treachery, genocide, family killing or child killing.
What I do want to know is, which of the people in the western world are descended from Tsarist royalty Mr O’Donnel ?

PS. “special relationship”
cleruchy (Greek : κληρουχία, klēroukhia) in Classical Greece, was a specialized type of colony established by Athens. The term comes from the Greek word κληροῦχος, klēroukhos, literally “lot-holder”.
lottery winner? Or corporate shareholder?

Cleruchies were significantly different. The settlers or cleruchs would retain their Athenian citizenship, and the [“]community[“] remained a political dependency [but “politically independent”?] of Athens—a position reinforced by installing institutions of local government based on Athenian models, such as the council on Samos.
According to Plutarch [“The Liar”], cleruchies were assigned to poor Athenian citizens, who would then live overseas while retaining their Athenian citizenship. However, epigraphical evidence suggests that Athenian cleruchs were more commonly wealthy [“poor Athenian citizens”], and continued to live in Athens while slaves worked on their overseas estates. Cleruchies thereby became a significant source of private wealth in Athens—the 3,000 kleroi* on Lesbos provided 100 talents a year, according to Thucydides.
The first cleruchy is thought to have been Salamis, captured by Athens from Megara in the 6th century BC. Other cleruchies were established on the Thracian Chersonese [Anatolia] following its recapture from the Persian Empire after the Greco-Persian Wars of the 5th century BC, and at Chalcis [!] following that city’s defeat in a [Peloponnese] war battle with Athens. During the period of the Delian League and the Second Athenian League (5th–4th century BC), many more cleruchies were created by Athens such as on Samos. Athens’ system of cleruchies reached its height in the late fifth century, at which point it stretched as far east as Amisos on the Black Sea. This [“]network[“] of cleruchies was lost at the end of the Peloponnesian war, and never reached this extent again, although some cleruchies were re-established in the fourth century, for example at Lemnos and Samos

* alternative demography, Spartan helots which is at least consistent with contemporaneous narratives of Peloponnesian tribal “tensions”.

Our procedure is complicated by debates over the nature of Spartan property holding. Investigation is more straightforward for those who, like myself, accept the historicity of an archaic redistribution of a critical mass of real properties (the politike khora of Polyb. 6.45.3; cf. Plut. Lyc. 8.3; Plato Laws 684D) and the existence of a period during which klêroi were not exclusively transmitted by conventional, partible inheritance. [9] Analysis is more problematical, however, for those who see the tradition of the equality of the klêroi as solely a late ideological construct (Ducat 1983; cf. Papazoglou 1993). Even then, we would not be authorized to ignore the traditional figures on the number of klêroi, the level of rents, and the scale of mess dues. Their full ramifications would still deserve investigation in deference to the heuristic function of these figures in indigenous Spartan quantitative thinking about social relations.

Translations don’t write themselves.

If one of these Belgorod raids succeeds and the Ukrainians (“free russian army”/cia) manage to seize the nuclear weapons stored at the Belgorod nuclear facility it could be curtains for the Russian federation.

Chinese have very different behaviour publicly compared to family or close friends. While educated Chinese at least tend to be rather formal and polite, ingroup conversation is a nonending stream of teasing, mockery, and low level insults. When Chinese start to mock you to be fat, lazy, whatever, speaking horrible Chinese, it means you are belonging to them. Is hard work to get so far.

A bit more sobering look at the Ilyich plant in Mariupol. Apparently a master plan to restore it was approved last year. 2 years to restart providing sufficient capital investment is made available. They hope to employ 19,000 people when restoration is complete. Hopefully the investment will be made in modern equipment, and if the steel operation is restored it will be less polluting than before. Azovstal looks to be written off at this point.

What you envision sounds like a kind of bio-inspired one man APC exoskeleton. There are plenty of YouTube project videos showing various leg and wing mechanism (Serenity ornithopter is an interesting example) but carrying an operator laying on their front or back is quite an ask. The legs could be synchronised mechanically to a single drive motor, maybe with a differential to steer like a tracked vehicle, or using a separate drive per side, this would still be very radical for a military transport concept.
It seems to me that it’d be more practical to start with some existing tech like an electric quad bike and place the operator in a low slung position like a motorbike racer in the middle with a couple of wheels in front and couple behind in order to get the passenger compartment as low as possible. Wheels double as floats / oars, hybrid electric gives better torque control and silent running on battery power, articulation could have passive (springs and dampers), dynamic (electronic) or rigid. Pretty much all of the required components are generic or could be copied from existing products.
I think it’s crazy talk but who knows =)

In answer to your question about who tipped Macron off, could it be French intelligence officers? Here is Vassily Prozorov’s comment

Interesting details emerge regarding the death of two “volunteers” from France in Ukraine – winemaker Adrien Baudon de Mony-Pajol and technical specialist Gennady Germanovich. Let me remind you that on February 1, the head of the Kherson administration Prokudin announced the death of two Frenchmen as a result of a strike by the Russian Armed Forces, and later Macron himself spoke about their death. But according to my information, the situations are much more interesting.
First of all, they are not volunteers. This myth was quickly debunked, proving that Germanovich was a highly qualified specialist in the field of security. He was a former soldier of the French Foreign Legion and had close ties not only with representatives of the neo-Nazi movements of France, but also with the Belarusian regiment of Kastus Kalinouski.
Secondly, according to my information, the French were shot on the Odessa-Kyiv highway in the area of the Razdelnyanskaya community in the Odessa region, and not as a result of a Russian drone strike on a car in Berislav, as Prokudin said.
As I learned from my sources in the SBU, those killed as consultants were involved in organizing the visit of a high-ranking delegation from France, and their work included assisting the Ukrainian special services in carrying out some kind of provocation, probably for the subsequent accusation of Russia. However, having found out the details of the Ukrainian special operation, the French refused further “cooperation” and hurried to Kyiv to urgently leave Ukraine. This refusal cost them their lives.
By a completely non-random coincidence, a few days after their deaths, the French President canceled his visit to Ukraine for security reasons.
I do not rule out that the Ukrainian security forces may soon return to the idea of carrying out a similar provocation, but with the participation of a delegation from another country. Conclusions are drawn and errors are analyzed.

Ukrop drone controlled via mobile Internet (a SIM card slot is visible on the side).
The sticker about the FSB is, of course, ridiculous.
This is how they attack polling stations with green paint and lighters. They will not use explosives – it is difficult to smuggle in quantities and the effect will not be as expected. It’s not like bombing Donetsk with hail, there will be a targeted strike on civilians. But they don’t need this.
Such drones are left in the bushes by partisans, an operator connects to them via the Internet and, after a while, takes off. Therefore, they can launch anywhere in the Russian Federation, not only in the border areas.
The partisans will receive a mark and this is the only result of the performance.

EU MSM may still keep up the pretense of ‘winning in Ukraine’ along with some politicians. There is too much noise in the Western world about things not going well. The endgame correctly includes Odessa.
Big Arrow moves are out for various reasons discussed here for quite some time. Inchon style landings are out, unless met with large land forces coming in from the North, which will take a long time.
How to prevent that gorgeous city from being turned into ruins? If anything, the Russkies are patient, unlike the rest of us. Maybe a siege without too much destruction when the time comes.
Negotiations are meaningless in view of the level of trust in any Western parties, until Putin is making an offer they cannot refuse.

in re: “settler colonialism”
here is the latest village idiot interest story from Oscar winning AP News: Russia forces Ukrainians in occupied territories [apoikia] to take its passports [citizanship] —and fight in its army [legio]
This is pretty entertaining material, not only because the top-line estimate of child abductees inadvertently has drifted from 700,000-800,000 back to 20K, Ukraine’s martial laws prohibiting any form of “collaboration” as well as violent UAF “shopping center” mobilization [helotry?] are omitted, but

The process is only accelerating. After capturing the town of Adviivka last month, Russia swooped in with the passports in a matter of days. The neighboring Kherson town of Oleshky essentially emptied after the flooding caused by the explosion of the Kakhovka Dam. The housing stipend in Russia looked fabulous by comparison to the shelling and rising waters, said Rima Yaremenko.

That there is some top-drawer EU enlargement jargon. BTW, how is Russian “ecocide” on the Dnieper coming along? Upstream, K**v has shut the locks!

As of March 16, the water level in Dnipro has risen to the highest level since the beginning of the year. The rise in the water level is due to an increase in water discharges from the Kiev reservoir.
This is reported by the head of the KGVA Sergey Popko in the telegram channel. According to the monitoring group, over the past week, the level in the Dnieper river within the capital has increased by more than 60 cm. A significant fluctuation is observed during the day.
“The level of the Dnieper River within Kiev has risen to its absolute maximum since the beginning of 2024,” Popko said. Hydrological event hazard level I (yellow).
[…]

alrighty then, time for another look at the natural barriers d/b/a “strategic” fortification.

Feral Finster – “That you are apparently unable to provide anything other than lame insult and tone policing does nothing to dissuade me. In fact, quite the opposite, as I’d love to be wrong.” Ok, you asked, I provide.
Dude, you are always talking about NATO or the US or UK or France or the West, or somebody, is just going to keep escalating against Russia, and that somehow Russia can’t win because of this. Let’s turn that around: who exactly is going to escalate, and how much, where, with what, exactly? You insinuate that this escalation will then lead to NATO invoking Article 5, or putting more sanctions on Russia, or somehow otherwise prevent Russia from continuing to do what they have been doing, because they should be scared of Western escalation or more sanctions, or that said escalation will have the desired effect. You need to clarify exactly what you think this escalation will do, and who will be doing it, and how.
I don’t see Russia has much reason for concern here, vigilance yes, but despair, no. Which countries are going to send their militaries to Ukraine to fight Russia, exactly, and how do you think they will fare in that expedition? What sanctions are going to cripple Russia, after 15,000+ sanctions have proven useless?
As an armchair couch sitter at home, I can think of several ways that Russia can easily escalate, in ways they have not done yet, because their successful strategy so far is to coninuing boiling the NATO frog, slowly, so as not to cause a nuclear war out of blind panic frm The West.
Here’s 2 sample Russian escalations that come to mind, that will cripple the West, and could be put in place tomoroow, if Russia is pressed to do so. Russia could have Iran close the Straits of Hormuz to all Western bound oil and gas shipments, just like the Houthis have done in The Red Sea, the price of oil goes to $200-$3300 a barrel in the West (but not in Asia or BRICS countries, where they continue to buy oil/gas at the old prices), and the entire West economies implode in about 3-5 days as stock markets and bond markets crash etc, trillions of $ of financial deritatives are triggered, and instant Depression ensues. Or Russia could stop all shipments of uranium and machined reactor fuel rods to the West, and the lights go out, permanently, in much of The West, after reactors run out of rods on hand after a few short months. Where I live, the grid runs on reactors that get fuel rods from Westinghouse USA, who buy them from….Russia, and when that supply is cut off, there is no more electricity, period. There is no replacing that output with enough to keep the grid running, in any time frame less than 5-10 years, maybe, after alternative sources are built and begin output. By that time, there will be no economy, left, or many people who have not frozen to death, or starved to death.
The only real escalation NATO has left is the nuclear card, and if they play that one, The West is destroyed too, Russia will survive, somewhat, because of its sheer size and ABM systems etc that the West lacks. How many ABM or integrated AD systems are deployed to protect cities in your country? (hint: none)?
So you need to lighten up. In any war, both sides will have periods where they have victories and suffer defeats, in this one, I see Russia is about 95% winning, NATO 5%. The West has already been defeated, in every realm, militarily, geo-political, economic, by Russia, and I see no chance to reverse that trend towards Western victory. The West started the war, The West has lost the war, and it’s time to move on, except Western hubris and arrogance prevent that, so we continue to stumble towards nuclear war, started by The West, and again, finished by Russia. We are merely arguing about the exact scope of Western defeat, and at some point, reality sets in, and no amount of escalation changes that basic fact, IMHO we passed tha point a year ago or more. In fact, there was 0% chance that Russia would ever be defeated in Ukraine, it was only a matter of how much Russia would have to escalate in respnse to Wetern provocation.
You seem to believe in some magic Western escalation fairy dust that they can sprinkle around at will, where is it?

Here is my theory as to why Russia has not yet used nuclear weapons in the Ukraine war despite ever-increasing provocations. I’ll start with a generally accepted fact, but I’ll give it an xblobian twist.
The generally accepted fact: Putin was dissuaded by Xi from using nuclear weapons. Since relations with China are very important for Russia and Russia’s existence is not threatened, Russia has refrained from using nuclear weapons, even though it could quickly win the war.
The xblobian twist: Why is China strictly against the use of nuclear weapons far away in Europe? Because the genie would be out of the bottle and it would be clear that nuclear powers use nuclear weapons when their vital interests are threatened. Now China wants to (and probably will) conquer Taiwan. In a conventional war, this would not be a major problem (after the USA has given away its weapons to Ukraine). But if the nuclear genie were out of the bottle, the USA could also use nuclear weapons against China. And here China, as a relative nuclear dwarf, would clearly lose out. It would only have a chance in a nuclear alliance with Russia and would be the junior partner here – a severe humiliation for Xi! In geopolitical terms, the use of a nuclear bomb by Russia would therefore be a victory for the USA and a defeat for China.
What does that mean? Firstly, it probably means that the USA should have nothing against Russia using a nuclear bomb and will probably try to provoke it. China will want to prevent this and – if necessary – would have to provide Russia with massive support in the form of conventional weapons and/or soldiers. It remains to be seen which of the three possible developments (conventional Russian victory on its own, intervention by China, use of nuclear weapons by Russia) will become reality. For the USA, as already mentioned, the use of nuclear bombs is the best option.

The steel making and manufacturing operation in Mariupol and Donetsk included the Avdeevka coke plant and the two industrial plants in Mariupol (plus the coal mines). They are missing the iron ore mines and metallurgical industry in Krivoy Rog, the heavy machine plants in Dnipro, and industrial plants in Zaporizhizhia to completely control the industrial base in southern and eastern Ukraine. With Kharkov plus Odessa and Nikolayev and the lower Dnipro reservoirs there is the making of an industrial and agricultural powerhouse. This is the tragedy of Ukrainian ‘independence’ – they squandered the resources of the state and progressively cut trade and economic cooperation with Russia.

Macron with Anne-Sophie Lapix .
Macron is asked to explain why he does not exclude sending French troops to Ukraine. He asks the journalist: “Look, you are sitting at this table. Are you going to exclude getting up after the interview?”
My interpretation is that it is taken for granted that France will send troops to Ukraine. For Macron there still is some doubt; Russia might lose. But if Russia wins, Macron sends troops.

“I tell you we’ll do what’s necessary to achieve our goal, because if Russia were to win, the lives of the French will change.
We will no longer have security in Europe, who can for a second think that President Putin, who has not
respected any of his limits and commitments would stop there.

“I say it and I stand by it: we have already suffered the consequences of this war in our daily lives.
We’ve already suffered these attacks.
We’ve already suffered days and days of dysfunction in many of our hospitals because of this Russian aggression.
We’ve suffered the consequences in Europe: the price of gasoline, the state of our economy, the cost of cereals are the consequence of this war launched by (Russia) and if Russia wins this war, Europe’s credibility will be reduced to zero.”

My interpretation: This is complete nonsense.
Russia is not responsible for the state of hospitals in France. The government of France is responsible for the goings-on in French public hospitals; more specifically the French minister for health and prevention.
It’s not Russia’s fault gas and wheat prices have risen in France. Prices have risen because you do not want to buy from who has it.
For seventy years Europe has been subjected to propaganda that tried to eradicate anything that might lead to war. And now all of a sudden they need us to go to war.

Yeesh.”

Nicolas Dupont-Aignan is not alone among those in France who see Emmanuel Macron as the real enemy of the French state. François Asselineau on the right

Someone who want to quit eu, nato and € is not “on the right”.
Another take on the saga comes from Michel Onfray a political philosopher on the left. Onfray thinks that Macron’s real intention is to destroy – really destroy – France,
He is not “on the left”, he is only on himself. He changed so many times his mind that it is possible to call him a weathercock. And he is not a philosopher but a teacher of philosophy. The journal he created lastly is a nest of extremists from the right.
The fact that Macron is destroying France does not come from him, he burrowed (stole…) the information from Gael Giraud:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDWvuwtVL3Q
After which Giraud was blacklisted.

*** The fundamental problem is that nobody really cares about Ukraine. And that includes the western political leadership. ***
Not quite so …. the Khazars do want it (for themselves).
So killing off the population of central Ukraine is serving their purposes … since thanks to automation and the ability to (later) ship in cheap temporary labour from abroad if necessary, they then don’t have any indigenous dissidence to bother about.
Putting in foreign mercenaries keeps the population erosion process going. And as for Christian or Moslem Russian losses, the Khazarians can regard that as a happy bonus — and they may well wish to expand their colony considerably eastwards at some future date.
Don’t forget that the so-called “Western political leadership” is thoroughly owned by, and fervently serves, the Khazarians.
Unfortunately, there should be serious questions as to whether the Russian leadership (and Oligarchy) serves them as well.

Posted by: xblob | Mar 16 2024 18:35 utc | 366

Putin is a big boy. He does not take advice from abroad. He does not need it. Provocations will be dealt accordingly.
It is amazing to see so many people thinking they can go in the head of Putin. Or in the head of Xi for that matter.
Russia has a doctrine on how and when to use nuclear weapons. Everyone knows it. Or should. Except people who think they know better and invent “generally accepted facts”.

Interesting article written by Ruslan Puhov, director of the center for strategical and technological analysis – a think tank that is closely connected with the Russian MoD – published in the “Russia in the global politics” online journal:
https://globalaffairs.ru/articles/ot-speczialnoj-k-voennoj/
Puhov sits in the public advisory committee of the Russian MoD as you can see here (in Russian): http://cast.ru/about/
He is much more informed that randos like Martyanov.
Basically, he is raising some very interesting parallels and points about the future of the, as he describes it, only “military” and not “special” operation anymore. Main revelation for me is that the unsuccessful move on Kiev was modeled on the Prague spring incursion by the Warsaw pact militaries. If what he is saying here (russian with google translation in english below:

В целом, насколько можно судить, сухопутные войска обеих сторон находятся на одном или сравнимом уровне организации, вооружения, подготовки, командного состава, культуры, морального состояния и прочего – представляя в некотором смысле «один народ».
Обе стороны ведут боевые действия в примерно одинаковом стиле и, видимо, с сопоставимым уровнем потерь.
In general, as far as one can judge, the ground forces of both sides are at the same or comparable level of organization, weapons, training, command staff, culture, morale and other things – representing in a sense “one people.”
Both sides are fighting in approximately the same style and, apparently, with a comparable level of losses.

then expectations need to be tempered.

There are villages in Ukraine where there are almost no men left due to mobilization, the Washington Post writes in its report from the village of Makov, Khmelnitsky region.
“Those who remain fear they will be called up at any moment. Their neighbors are already hundreds of miles to the east in the trenches on the front line. Some have been killed or wounded. Several are missing. Others from this village are about 45 miles away from the borders of Romania and Moldova – fled abroad or found ways to avoid the war, either legally or in hiding,” the publication reports.
These data were confirmed to journalists at a local school, where they keep lists of students whose parents have left the village.
Local residents say that “military recruiters are grabbing everyone they can” and are “roaming the almost empty streets in search of the remaining men.” Some conscripts from Makov are now serving time in prison for refusing to mobilize.
“People are caught like dogs on the street,” said 35-year-old Olga Kametyuk, whose husband stopped for coffee on the highway near the village and was detained by TCC officers. “Despite the diagnosis of osteochondrosis, a joint disease, he underwent a medical examination in 10 minutes and was sent to the front, where he was wounded,” the article says.
Infantryman Sergei, mobilized from Makov, returned home on leave and said that they wanted to take him back from the street to the military registration and enlistment office.
“When the soldiers realized that he was already serving, they asked how he felt about people “who had never seen a day of war.” Sergei replied that he was more indignant at them (military commissars – Ed.), and not at his fellow villagers.” You are a military man and I am a civilian, but I fight and you don’t,” he said.
30-year-old Makov resident Alexey was mobilized from the street while he was repairing his car. Returning from the front after several wounds and shell shocks, he said that out of a dozen of his soldiers, only two remained alive.
16-year-old Polina says that her father was drafted into the army when he went to the store. Therefore, the men remaining in the village now simply do not leave the house.

Bankova has a new plug. The idea of an “official excuse” from the army launched a narrative among the masses that the war is only for the poor and hard workers, and the “elite” will get high.
Even the military began to criticize this initiative. But for Bankova, the issue of filling the budget with at least some money is important, since the market for “excuses” from the army is estimated at several billion dollars.
Now the question is how they will get out of this situation, because the army of the “poor” is a bad trend for the Office of the President.
Although now it is still mostly hard workers, villagers and poor people who are fighting who did not have the money to pay off.

https://t.me/legitimniy/17426

Colleagues, the villages are already empty, there is no one to catch there, and in the cities men do not leave their apartments. The TCC has become the main instrument for discrediting the authorities, which are trying to replace the shortage of weapons with a human shield.
The issue of paying off the army will become a trigger for society when everyone sees that only ordinary Ukrainians should defend the country, while the rich and relatives of officials/politicians enjoy life in clubs,

The Russians are going to want Odessa, and as a matter of political and military desirability, they are going to want to control the Black Sea coast. Naturally the two go together.
A complication is that the modern smart munitions (drones and missiles of all sorts) make it easy to take out bridges. That makes it inherently hazardous for Russian troops to cross the Dnieper river for fear that they could be isolated and destroyed. Thus as a matter of military prudence, the Russians should delay crossing the Dnieper until after the Ukraine army is damaged to the point of being ineffective. Lacking an effective military opposition, the Russians could come down from the north in a long salient that went all the way to the border of Moldovia. And of course, a second incursion from the south, if desired. As control of the territory occupied would also be territory that Russia should sensibly annex, it would not be an excess use of the army. Once accomplished, it would be easy to isolate Odessa and take it in a way that is expedient. That is, minimizing troop losses and damage to the city if that is a priority.
And by the way, the nation that has a high level of interest in Crimea and the Black Sea Coast is the United States. It would greatly help us and damage Russia if we had control of the Black Sea. Most likely that is why the Ukrainians bring up the Crimea. Not so much that they want it, but it is them knowing that their primary backer, the United States, wants control of it.

As a matter of speculation, I think Macron’s problem is the loss of empire. The European countries are no longer big enough to have a global empire. With France losing control of central Africa, and the Collective West in the process of no longer being the hegemon globally, Macron is having a problem handling it. And the Europeans in general, along with us, are yet to make the necessary adjustment, which is adjusting to the decline in power. We and they need to forget about the days when we were the big dog in every fight.

Macron is but a puppet, messenger boy of the Rothschild/City.
His ‘escalatory rhetoric’ at this time has only two motives that are mutually exclusive:
1. It is a negotiating ploy to begin negotiations.
2. The West with their imminent RESET/WEF etc are desperate and they have to have a war to perpetuate, actualize their Globalist solution or they arfe going to have to fall on their swords….
I tend to think #1 is the motive but I don’t know.

I went to my local protest today in front of the county courthouse and can duly report that while the Ukraine contingent had half the block on one side there were only about half dozen there with blaring music.
The other half block on both side was filled with Occupied Palestine protestors and one lone dude standing in the back of his tuck waving an Israel flag with a hand Remember 10/7/23 sign.
The point made on this thread is that Ukraine is old news and not getting protestor support.
I see Russia as overrunning what remains of the Ukraine military and escalating responses to the desperation bombing of Russia we read about.
I continue to posit Ukraine will go down by Easter unless NATO becomes more involved….we are in end game for this proxy war and it won’t end up like Korea, IMO.
