Eyewitnesses describe Israel’s attack on aid truck in Deir el-Balah
One of the witnesses has told Al Jazeera that he was on his way to a water well when the area was “showered with missiles, shrapnel flying around, body parts in the air”.
“This truck was carrying relief aid, with civilian volunteers on board. They were carrying food items to displaced Gaza people. It is alleged that Deir el-Balah is a safe zone,” he said.
“[Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu is waging a genocide and a starvation war. However, we are holding our ground. He cannot bring the Gaza people to their knees, I repeat, we will not bow to Israel.”
Another eyewitness told Al Jazeera that “there is no safe inch in Gaza”.
“Hospitals, schools, even tents are attacked; even journalists are not spared; and now the trickling relief aid is targeted. What is left for us? This is a sin,” he said.
A third person told Al Jazeera that “every single civilian and any moving object is targeted by the Israelis”.
“Every one of us walks carrying his own shroud,” she said.

These attacks on truck aids were systematic in Syria too at some point, and happened to both sides (rebels and loyalists), always carried by planes that did not have identification. People speculated it was the UAE, but it might well have been Israel. This also means that Israel and Qatar have a lot of dirt about each other.

Much agree with posts at #9 and #37, that so precisely go to the core of it. My own filter gives me the following additional essence: The Israelis have two points of leverage left to use. One is the wild-eyed threat of escalation. It is the “threat” itself that may yield some leverage. Actual escalation, as in Lebanon, is likely to be problematic with the missiles now arrayed against Israel.
The other point of leverage for Israel is to continue killing large numbers of Palestinian men, women and children while working toward a freeze of the conflict that preserves/expands all past and current gains similar to the way this has occurred in the past. There are indications that the world community will not stand for another freeze of this type. Mr. Lavrov went to the heart of it back in early October 2023 when he said that a genuine solution must be permanent and enforceable.
Looking at it from the side of the Axis of Resistance and most of the world community, there is a need to find and apply continued diplomatic, legal (through the UN and ICJ), demographic, economic and military pressure in order to bring the United States backed Israelis to the reckoning that they are due under a long series of United Nations resolutions.
