Terrorist attack in Crocus: over 60 deaths, more than 100 wounded

MOSCOW, March 23. /TASS/. Unidentified people have conducted a terrorist attack in Crocus City Hall in Krasnogorsk in the Moscow Region. According to the latest figures, more than 60 people were killed, and another 100 were wounded.

Gunmen kill more than 60 in concert attack near Moscow, Islamic State claims responsibility

MOSCOW, March 22 (Reuters) – Camouflage-clad gunmen opened fire with automatic weapons at concertgoers near Moscow on Friday, killing at least 60 people and injuring 145 in an attack claimed by Islamic State militants. In the deadliest attack in Russia since the 2004 Beslan school siege, gunmen sprayed civilians with bullets just before Soviet-era rock group “Picnic” was to perform to a full house at the 6,200-seat the Crocus City Hall just west of the capital.

Islamic State, the militant group that once sought control over swathes of Iraq and Syria, claimed responsibility for the attack, the group’s Amaq agency said on Telegram.

The United States has intelligence confirming Islamic State’s claim of responsibility for the shooting, a U.S. official said on Friday. The official said Washington had warned Moscow in recent weeks of the possibility of an attack.

“We did warn the Russians appropriately,” said the official, speaking on condition of anonymity, without providing any additional details.

Russia has yet to say who it thinks is responsible.

A month ago (to the day!) at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, Victoria “F the EU” Nuland promised that aid to Ukraine would allow it to “accelerate the asymmetric warfare that has been most effective” and that Putin is “sure to face some nasty surprises.”

Nuland left her post as the Deputy Secretary of State 10 days prior to this video. Moscow civilians were killed today in an act of terrorism (asymmetrical warfare).

Putin & his team is not infallible, that is just one variant of the “5D Chessmaster” propaganda of the West to make Pro-Russians look like brainless cheerleaders.
Anyway, Putin is using his brain. He is reacting rationally, in a measured way, instead of emotionally. And that is a problem for the West. They would like to see them running around hysterically, with foam on their mouths, making mistakes, doing useless PR stunts for revenge like shooting down private jets like you proposed.
That’s what the Western leaders would like to see. That’s what you would like to see… that’s why you are here. You’re a part of the Western strategy, whether knowingly or not I don’t know…

If at the end of the day the Russian people see this as having been a Zelenskyy regime sponsored attack, then unless this was the opening salvo of many, many, more attacks, Russian resolve will firm up, and now would be the time for the Banderites to sell their assets in Eastern Ukraine, and Kiev.
P.S. Presumably this attack killed mostly younger Russians? So now the demographic that is traditionally less about martial and nationalistic values just got motivated to embrace them. I can envision the already high levels of enlistment climbing even higher, and now younger Russians will be more willing to calmly accept any shortages and price increases that might accompany Russian going even further on a war footing.
If that attitude carries over to the factories, and workers get behind boosting productivity, then the AFU will be in for a hell of a hot summer, with artillery, aerial bombs, missiles, and drones, constantly pounding their positions, in unprecedented numbers.
My parent’s generation was part of the response to the attack on Pearl Harbor, all the men got called up, all the women got full time employment out of the home (not all that traditional in that era), often in defense industry related jobs, or jobs related to the war effort, like recycling or sorting scrap.
Russia might now be feeling the effect of some of that coming together that is on tap after such a major tragedy, inflicted by outsiders, comes about.

I just checked out The NY Times coverage (the place to go for the Empire’s line on things).
There were at least 3-4 updates (prior to Putin’s remarks) that explicitly said Russians were “laying the groundwork to blame Ukraine” and then after Putin spoke they reported – validating the NYT’s initial speculation – that Putin was “attempting to blame” the Ukrainians. This is a classic propaganda technique and a dead fire indicator of US involvement. This is exactly the same game Cheney played: plant disinformation in the NY Times then go on network TeeVee and cite The NY Times reporting. But now The NY Times is playing that game with itself!
What the hell, the spooks pulled off the Nordstream without any pushback so why expect anything different?

Russia’s Ministry of the Interior spokeswoman Irina Volk on the citizenship of the terrorists:

Today, in a number of Telegram channels and on social networks claims were made that four people suspected of participating in the March 22 attack on Krokus City Hall, who have fled in a Renault Logan car and were subsequently detained in Bryansk Oblast, are Russian citizens. This information is false. All of them are foreign citizens.

Given that Western leaders have been supplying Ukraine with weapons which are used to target Russian women and children, the messages of condolence from those leaders need to be seen for what they are.
They are afraid of retaliation and are well aware that the majority of the World see their complicity in this atrocity and regard them with the same disgust as someone who has found dog shit on their shoes which has been transferred to the carpet.

After Crocus the number of those people will go up.

Very unlikely USA or UK involved. Problem is that GUR is running unchecked and even uncouraged by Zelensky/Ermak. Problem with killing Zelensky/Ermak as retribution is that replacement might be Zalushny, who would manage a more competent defense. So better retribution is to simply continue attacks on infrastructure, cut electricity and water supply and thus make life impossible in big cities, continue to apply pressure at line of contact, extend line of contact north into Kharkiv, Sumy, Chernigiv oblasts and cause another refugee crisis.

English plot to terrorise Russia.
England has been openly training the many groups to do terrorism attacks inside and to Russia if Ukraine war fails for anglos. That Pirate country has never hidden its evil intention.
Now that British trained and funded terrorists have attacked Moscow theatre, england through its vassal usa, is shifting blame on ISI (which itself was created by Britain in Syria as was Taliban in Afghanistan/pakistan). But that is all for diverting attention from the English pirates.
Russia must take revenge on English pirates and on England as soon as possible and as hard as she can for deterrence.

Posted by: Sam | Mar 23 2024 18:51 utc | 333

Russian laziness.
So how long has Russia been inside Syria? 9 long years. That too when told by General Suleman of Iran that Russian naval base in Tartus, Syria will be gone unless Russia intervenes.
So after December 2015 Russia entered the Syrian theatre to help the genuine govt of Syria. By Feb 2016 the Syrian army was victorious – that time Russian foreign minister Lavrov asked usa to join together to manage middle east problem. In other worlds he was betraying Syria in order to please Anglos in usa and UK. Assad was reluctant to ceasefire. Then FM lavrov used his barking dog Churchin the Russian uno representative to say harsh words against Syria and assad. They persuaded president Putin to declare “Mission fulfilled” and that Russia would withdraw partially from Syria. All to pressurise Assad to ceasefire.
Thus Russia has been there for 9 years doing nothing even when Israelis attack Syria. America did not need Russian invitation – it just barged into Syria and within 2 months established anerican zone in Syria.
Thus Russia backstabbed Syria after turning almost won war into a quagmire. And it wonders why British created ISI is still operative?.
Same thing Russia did in Ukraine. In DebLtsovo enclave were trapped British mercenaries so Putin instead of killing British parasites, ordered Donbass militia to let those terrorists from britian and Ukraine escape with impunity.
There he allowed Ukraine problem to fester and enabled heroes of Donbass to be killed.
All due to Putin’s obsessive desire to be liked by anglo pests

Nazis and Talmudists love to use Muslims driven into desperate poverty and hopelessness (and thus susceptible to brainwashing) to do their dirty deeds. While this does not absolve the perpetrators of responsibility, nor shield them from the consequences of their actions, it speaks to the need to cut the head off the snake. That means the Kiev entity and its Western handlers – the United States, the United Kingdom, and the little “oasis” of ethnic supremacism situated on the eastern shores of the Mediterranean Sea. It’s pretty rich of the latter three to offer condolences when they directly sponsored the attack. It’s also revolting to think that the tax dollars of the citizens of those three countries contributed to the payments given to the terrorists to carry out their plan – so when you file your income tax returns, know that you’re supporting terrorism.

Lindsey Graham was also in Kiev last week urging Ukraine to draft more younger men (“Their blood, our bullets”): Per 3/18/24, WaPo
KYIV — “Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) called on Ukrainian lawmakers Monday to quickly pass a mobilization bill that would make more citizens eligible to be drafted into the military, and he sharply questioned exempting men under 27 from the fight.
Graham called for the swift legislative action — even as U.S. lawmakers remain unable to reach their own consensus on aid for Ukraine — while visiting Kyiv, his first trip to the Ukrainian capital since he abruptly turned against a $60 billion aid package for the country last month. [Lindsey’s pal Trump wants to give Ukr. more money but wants to call it “no interest loans that don’t need to be repaid”].
As he issued his advice on the draft, Graham, who met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday [3/18/24], could offer no true assurances about the pending aid package, instead telling reporters that he is “more optimistic than I’ve ever been that something will get out of the House pretty soon.”…[GOP House now has only a 1 vote majority and it’s predicted 2 more GOP will soon resign, so Dem would get House control]
Ukraine’s new mobilization law, which has been under debate for months as the country faces a severe shortage of battle-ready troops, proposes lowering the country’s draft age to 25. Although citizens can voluntarily join the military starting at age 18, and men between 18 and 60 are banned from leaving the country under martial law, the draft has until now protected younger men — many of whom are students — from being forcibly mobilized.
“I would hope that those eligible to serve in the Ukrainian military would join. I can’t believe it’s at 27,” he told reporters Monday. “You’re in a fight for your life, so you should be serving — not at 25 or 27.”
“We need more people in the line,” he [Graham] said.”…”Lindsey Graham, visiting Kyiv, urges Ukraine to pass mobilization law,” WaPo, S. O’Grady, 3/18/24

Warm thanks for your invaluable contributions, including this translation of Putin’s speech.
One philosophically pregnant passage (boldfaced below), popping up in the penultimate paragraph, piques my curiosity:

Terrorists, murderers, and nonhumans who do not and cannot have a nationality will face one unenviable fate – retribution and oblivion. They have no future. Our common duty now, our comrades-in-arms at the front, all citizens of the country–to be together in one line. I believe it will be so, because no one and nothing can shake our unity and will, our determination and courage, the strength of the united people of Russia. No one will be able to sow the poisonous seeds of discord, panic and discord in our multiethnic society.

It was written by the Doors singer, Jim Morrison, who was the son of Admiral Morrison, and it’s as if he knew exactly the kind of guy Graham is, though Jim was long dead before the Senator from South Carolina started his career.
My hope is that Graham as being the embodiment of whom Morrison was talking about becomes a meme. Thank you all for your understanding.

Dead cats, dead rats
Can’t you see what they were at, all right
Dead cat in a top hat, wow
Sucking on a young man’s blood
Wishing he could come, yeah
Sucking on the soldier’s brain
Wishing it would be the same
Dead cat, dead rat
Did you see what they were at?
Fat cat in a top hat
Thinks he’s an aristocrat
Thinks he can kill and slaughter
Thinks he can shoot my daughter
Yeah right! Oh yeah!
Oh right! Yeah!
Dead cats, dead rats
Think you’re an aristocrat
Crap, that’s crap!

Just thought I’d mention a narrative that one of the commentators on Politrussia used to consistently maintain, about the West eventually flipping on Ukraine and taking Russia’s side, akin to how it supposedly happened during WW2, with Western states preferring to be on the side of victors rather than losers. There have been plenty of opportunities for that in the past with nothing like that coming to pass, so here’s another one, on the eve of a Ukrainian collapse that even US and European officials are predicting is close, I’m sure it will at least be tempting for some elites to write Ukraine off as a state-sponsor of terrorism and join Russian efforts at regime change to maintain a finger in the pie. I’m not holding my breath or predicting anything, just worth keeping the scenario in mind I think.

The photo of Putin is open to interpretation; I see a man seething inside while trying to maintain his decorum.

Thanks for your yesterday’s reply.
Definitely seething inside, look at his hands and countenance, not even the night that he announced the SMO did he look like that. Payback will come, at the appropriate time, Pepe has the best summary in Strategic Culture, Danilov practically assumed the deed and promised more. It all fits, Nuland and her surprise, Danilov schadenfreude and the perps running to the Ukro border. True ISIS crazies would not have behaved like that, the one prisoner that was interrogated in Russian gave the impression of someone needing money at any cost, the other guys were not as intelligible due to the poor Tayik translation plus the background noise.

❗️🇷🇺💥🇺🇦🏴‍☠️ Air defense is operating over the Crimea and in the waters of the Black and Azov Seas.
The process includes the aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces and the air defense of the Crimean Bridge.
❗️The raid is massive. The enemy has about ten missile carriers in the air.

Strangely vague, as these Telegram messages often are. (Which channel is this from by the way?) Are the missiles being fired at Russian targets (in Crimea and the Black Sea?) or against Ukrainian targets? Who is the “enemy” with “missile carriers” in the air?
The two first sentences suggest that it’s Russian air defenses (but also the air force) that are operating, which would suggest Ukraine is the one firing missiles. But I don’t know where Ukraine would get ten “airborne missile carriers” (whatever that refers to, I guess to either bombers like the Tu-22M or ground attack aircraft like the Su-24?) from at this point.

I realize now that this might have been simply a made up Telegram post just like the one about the Kremlin (if this one was also fake, it was a lot more convincing, and it was also smarter to leave out the channel name so there was no easy way to authenticate it). It’s a shame that you “barflies”, or whatever it is you like to call yourselves in this little cult, throw around the “troll” moniker so liberally (against for example me and Shadowbanned, who you don’t have to agree with but who are not trolls) and then don’t have much ammunition left for whoever is spamming the board with misinformation now.

@Zet #356:

From Simplicius, re goal of terror attack:
„sow confusion and resentment against the leadership within Russian society, and perhaps most importantly: try to unbalance Putin into ‘over-reacting’ and creating some kind of retaliatory event“
And now compare that with our beloved S-named trolls

I’m sorry, are you referring to me? If yes, please show in what comments do I “sow confusion and resentment against the leadership within Russian society” and “try to unbalance Putin into ‘over-reacting’ and creating some kind of retaliatory event.”

“Terrorists, murderers, and nonhumans who do not and cannot have a nationality will face one unenviable fate – retribution and oblivion. They have no future.” Sounds like Bibi after October 7. The cognitive dissonance is strong among MOA commenters. I know, I know, but this is different…

I would expect that the gunmen dont know who is the sponsor of the operation. I find it hard to believe that they expected to get out alive – they may come to regret it.
Even now we dont know who sponsor 9/11 and why and the US used the event to justify attack on completely unconnected “foe”.
Russias first concern should be how to prevent more of same – security failed on this one.

Quite a few similarities between the latest Moscow attack and the Kerman (Iran) attack on 3 Jan.
1) scale of the attacks and the devastation they caused in terms of casualty figures (over 100 killed in Russia and nearly 100 in Iran)
2) both struck in countries where IS doesn’t have a significant presence, active branches or support base;
3) Both claimed with no ‘wilayah’ (branch) affiliation.

The only trouble with your English Pirates theory is that the English don’t actually rule England, or any other part of the UK.
British leader – Hindu Brahmin
Welsh leader – African/Welsh hybrid
Scottish leader – Pakistani Muslim
England has no Parliament, unlike Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. But it does dominate the UK Parliament aka “Westminster” – however the senior ministers are rarely English.

There is another clip posted on Rozhin’s TG, bloody and gory, the guy has lost one eye and with a swift move the soldier that’s trying to handcuff the perp cuts the earlobe and sticks it into the prisoner’s mouth. It is truly depressing how such brutal scenes become the norm in times of war, damned be the ambitions and disregard for human life of the faceless masters of war, we humans don’t learn from our mistakes, but Ukraine is thousands of miles from the USA, I wonder how you guys would react if all this bloody show would be taking place in Mexico.

One of the terrorists allegedly fought with UAF and is a resident of Ukraine.
I read about a Moldovan connection being common for Tajik criminal networks (drug and money laundering) as well; why not terrorists trained by the CIA? The CIA’s fingerprints are all over the global drug trade, including central/SE Asia.

@Paco #312:

You’re the second person today who mentioned that Bogomolov’s book to me (the first one was in RIA Novosti comments).
If anyone’s interested, here it is (in Russian): The Moment of Truth: In the August of ’44.

The English language Wikipedia knows the writer Vladimir Bogomolov, but thinks that In August 1944, better known as The Moment of Truth is a Russian-Belarusian action film from 2001. The whole movie happens to be available on YouTube. Some of the commenters here might find better use of their evening by watching the film.

“ISIS” is a ruse within a ruse; always has been. Basically it means any terrorists trained, funded and called up on when needed, to carry out CIA orders. It’s probably not a coincidence that not long ago the NYT bragged about all the CIA outposts on the Russian-Ukrainian border. That’s where they were fleeing toward as well.
To put it another way, I don’t rule out “ISIS” at all. “ISIS” fighters from Syria and elsewhere have been spotted among the UAF in the past. The US has always used “Islamic Terrorists” around the world, including in Russia (Beslan for one, infiltrators/traitors in Chechnya, etc.). “ISIS” is the CIA (and Mossad’s) ‘moveable feast’.
Based on the identities of the ones who’ve been captured, I’m positive they’re part of some CIA/Ukraine managed ‘splinter cell’ (they said they are not tied to a larger group- if they were ISIS they would have taken credit for it proudly, likely died rather than be captured).
Time will tell, but even if this was “ISIS” that does nothing to erase US/CIA and Ukrainian complicity/planning/guilt.

Posted by: Tom_Q_Collins | Mar 23 2024 21:19 utc | 393

The Ukrainians (and the Brits) are going all in with attacks on Russia. Use of many cruise missiles against Crimea with at least one or two penetrating defenses. Belgorod attacked again, a day or two ago the oil refinery (despite admonitions from the Americans). This is the Nuland plan. Seems like they are very keen to get Russia to respond harshly to the provocations (in order to justify introducing foreign troops). Perhaps they will get their wish.
