Aaron Burned Himself To Make Us Look At Gaza

Like many readers here I feel helpless about the ongoing genocide against Palestinians committed by U.S. supported Zionist settlers in the West Bank and Gaza. I can not even find the right words to express myself about it.

Others are more consequential. And powerful. Disgust about the cruelty imposed on Palestinians can induce the utmost will to change things.

U.S. Air Force Member Sets Self on Fire Outside Israel’s Embassy in D.C. to Protest War in GazaTime, Feb 25 2024

An active-duty member of the U.S. Air Force set himself on fire outside the Israeli embassy in Washington, D.C., on Sunday, in apparent protest of the ongoing Israel-Hamas war, which he described as a “genocide.”

The burn victim, who identified himself in video of the incident as 25-year-old Aaron Bushnell, reportedly succumbed to his injuries on Sunday night, according to independent journalist Talia Jane, who posted on social media that she is in contact with Bushnell’s family and friends.

bigger

Bushnell reportedly sent a message to media outlets before his planned self-immolation. “Today, I am planning to engage in an extreme act of protest against the genocide of the Palestinian people,” he warned. …

On Facebook Sunday morning, he also wrote: “Many of us like to ask ourselves, ‘What would I do if I was alive during slavery? Or the Jim Crow South? Or apartheid? What would I do if my country was committing genocide?’ The answer is, you’re doing it. Right now.” The post included a link to a live-stream of his protest on the web-broadcasting platform Twitch, which has since removed the video for violations of its community guidelines and terms of service. “I will no longer be complicit in genocide. I’m about to engage in an extreme act of protest,” the airman repeated, in footage reviewed by TIME, as he walked toward the driveway of the Israeli embassy. “But compared to what people have been experiencing in Palestine at the hands of their colonizers, it’s not extreme at all. This is what our ruling class has decided will be normal.”

After Bushnell doused himself with liquid and reached for his lighter, unidentified law enforcement or security officers could be heard asking off-screen, “Can I help you?” After setting himself aflame, he repeatedly shouted “Free Palestine.”

A security man decided to 'help' by pointing his gun on the dying man.

A censored video of the incident is here.

Rest in peace, Aaron Bushnell. Rest. In. Peace.

Can we make a list of all of our elected and unelected officials who are “Christian” or members of some sect or cult.
I count Zionism as a sect/cult, BTW. So, starting at the top, the commander in chief is a self-declared member of the Zionist sect.

There are posts in this thread that are infuriating in their ignorance and disrespect for the courageous, young, virtuous Aaron Bushnell.
This paragon of supreme defenders, Airman Aaron Bushnell, did NOT “commit suicide because he was overwhelmed with the badness in this world”. Saying such a thing marks several of you as utterly failing to grasp what he himself thought and SAID with absolute crystal clarity.
He was NOT depressed. He did NOT suffer from depression. He did NOT have a mental illness. He did NOT undertake to sacrifice his life for what he believed in BECAUSE HE COULDN’T COPE or because he had no will to carry on living.
Stop insulting the man. Stop helping minimize his sacrifice. Shame on you who do it. You can’t hold a candle to this young champion whose values you apparently can’t imagine nor understand.

Mario Savio – The Machine Speech
“And that — that brings me to the second mode of civil disobedience.
There’s a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so sick at heart that you can’t take part! You can’t even passively take part!
And you’ve got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus — and you’ve got to make it stop!
And you’ve got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it — that unless you’re free the machine will be prevented from working at all!!”

I see yours is the only mention of an extremely important consideration that must have troubled Aaron greatly–the orders to deploy to Occupied Palestine and directly participate in the Genocide. Now, it’s most likely those are what’re known as Illegal Orders as they direct the soldier to violate the law, in this case the US Constitution and the Genocide Convention. I highly suggest watching the 5-minute video clip of the chat between Judge Napolitano and Scott Ritter on Aaron’s act. The issue of the orders being illegal isn’t broached, but the consideration they must have generated is discussed. It’s a soldier’s duty to disobey any Illegal Order. IMO, it’s very likely Aaron knew it was an Illegal Order. Whether he discussed that issue with anyone is unknown at present.
Many see the Outlaw US Empire as a Major Criminal Syndicate using Mafia tactics, and many would agree if given the opportunity.

I am sympathetic to Palestinian and Israeli citizens but what this guy did was pure mental illness. He had a whole life ahead of him to do good, to promote his (and Palestine’s) cause, but rather than do the hard work that is required of any soul to go up against a corrupt regime, he took the coward’s way out. I am sorry for this poor man and pray for his soul, as he lost all sanity to total despair.

I have somewhat appalled by the glibness and shallow armchair psychologizing of a number of commenters.
These silly people are playing the same game as the WaPo and NYT etc.: trying to change the subject from the insanity and cruelty of our Zio policy to Bushnell’s mental state (so far there is no evidence that he was anything but totally sane).

This forkful of dirt is not worth the real estate on my monitor that it takes to read it. However, arguendo (learned that term from Wilde), Bushnell’s act is creating shock waves worldwide. If nothing else he has retrieved a measure of honor for the USA.
“Suicide vs genocide: Rest in power, Aaron Bushnell
Bushnell’s extreme act of protest has put Western corporate media to shame.”
https://www.aljazeera.com/opinions/2024/2/26/suicide-vs-genocide-rest-in-power-aaron-bushnell

“. . . Indeed, according to a former colleague of Bushnell’s who worked with him to support the homeless community in San Antonio, Texas, he was “one of the most principled comrades I’ve ever known”. And while we journalists are supposed to be the ones speaking truth to power, suffice it to say that Bushnell has put Western corporate media to shame.
Rest in power, Aaron Bushnell.”

Judging how the west paints these issues as all effects and no cause, they will probably report that he set himself aflame for unclear reasons.
What is happening in Palestine is indescribable. The fact the media and almost every institution barely register this only makes it more unbearable. That is what protests like this mean. RIP Aaron Bushnell

The order to deploy on a moment’s notice was issued in late November 2023 to Aaron’s group but also to national guard troops.
I would have let your inaccurate comment slip by but it is important to consider the fullness of the order: National Guard troops are part of that order.
Why are National Guard troops being sent to fight and die in imperialist foreign wars?
What this historical conjuncture reminds me of is the pre-Civil War period USA where citizens in the North were required by law to return formerly enslaved people who fled to the North to their Southern slave masters. And it was enforced. (I did primary research on this some time ago.)
A forbidden line was crossed, encroaching on human sanctity, encroaching on one’s allegiance to one’s sense of propriety — a violation of one’s morality.
Whether the saturation of this current outrage is prevalent enough in society to manifest positive change is yet to be seen. With the lack of honest media coverage, purchased, prolly up for grabs.
The renaissance of information technology we have experienced in the recent past, integrating the world’s peoples as never before, has been sabotaged by special interests, but the baddies won’t win. That’s my bias, a reserved optimist.

Below is a quote saying that Aaron may have been conflicted by information he was privy to in his miltary position

Aaron Bushnell claimed he had secret knowledge of US troops fighting in Hamas tunnels under Gaza — just hours before setting himself on fire in an “extreme act of protest” against Israel, a close pal told The Post on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old airman — who served in the Air Force’s 70th Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) Wing, but also interacted with radical anarchist groups online — ranted he had “top-secret clearance’’ for military intelligence data in the call to his friend Saturday night, he said.
“He told me on Saturday that we have troops in those tunnels, that it’s US soldiers participating in the killings,’’ the pal, whose ties to Bushnell have been verified by The Post, claimed.
“His actual job involves the processing of intelligence data. Some of what he was processing had to do with the Israeli Gaza conflict.”
“One of the things he told me is that coming across his desk … was the US military was involved in the genocides going on in Palestine,’’ the friend said, referring to Israel’s war against the Palestinian terror group Hamas in Gaza.
“He told me that we had troops on the ground, you know, that were there and were killing large numbers of Palestinians.
“There’s just too many things I don’t know, but I can tell you that the tone of his voice just had something in it that told me he was scared,’’ the buddy said.
“I’ve never heard that tone come out of him.”

In other words it’s true that Netanyahu owns the US Administration.
The Israelis are scared to fight Hamas and mentally unable to compromise with Palestine, so US military have been told to perform the genocide on behalf of Israel, using US Military methods, bomb all civilians and engage in direct combat with the remaining mixed Hamas and other military resistance.
That is a very different picture to what is presented publicly in the media. Israel is just a weak sect with no spiritual or intellectual integrity which US military might has been sent in to protect.
This is 100% pure Jewish ‘ little victim ‘ behaviour. They spend 100 years attacking Palestine, Britain and world opinion, fighting against World international Law, but when they meet some small resistance Israeli claims victim status and gets the US to fight their cause.
The Jews gaslight the people whose land they steal as terrorists, and then call in the police to permanently evict them from their land or genocide them.
You only get gaslighted if you are
the real owner of the land.
One of life’s hard lessons.
I got gaslighted by my ex wife and now I get gaslighted by my Muslim neighbours.

I have written here for over a decade that the owners of the Western world’s levers of global private finance, the God Of Mammon cult I call them, own both the US government and the Occupied Palestine government.
We are in a civilization war and are at the stage where the God Of Mammon cult is playing the monotheistic religion card to focus energy off the cult directly. The cult has the external challenge of the public finance focused China/Russia axis and the internal challenge of keeping the curtain hiding who they are and how they work from having any holes or tears in it.
Aaron Bushnell is helping our species look at itself, in a necessary critical manner. It gets back to the barbarism versus socialism characterization of the conflict but I also want to include in our debate about our form of social organization the issue of it being entirely male/patriarch centered longer than the male oriented monotheistic religions part…..I continue to posit that monotheistic religions were created by the patriarchs of the time to make dogma of male domination.

i agree with psycho historian about this money cult. it emerged as scribal culture was expanding (through the diffusion of the scriptures in various languages turning into writing) a bit more than 2000 years ago. one can also see precisely how each time, judeo christian culture has installed make domination in societies that have a better look at women, as known from either ancient literature (egypt) or monumental art and the presence of women rulers or not.
maybe this is what us at stake with the US/UK support (made plain at the ICJ last week with these 2 countries, alone except for bribed Zambia and Fiji, explaining the court it had no power to give an advisory opinion on the question of Azrael’s policies in the territories in has occupied and annexed disregarding all UN resolutions telling it to evacuate them).
Xian zio are natural allies of the J zios because of a common habit of twisting the scriptures and keep of it only the most hateful parts against the calls for mercy and ethics. to teri and malenkov. Thank you. To karlof1, yes I watched the Scitt Riddr/Judge N video you linked to. What struck me most was the date on the order for active duty. 21 November 2023. This means that the US .gov and military were actually planning to send troops not too long after the Izzy attack. Many questions. Were they in on the plan? Did they war up because Izzyhell seemed to be losing? Murikan has been trying to get a hold of Syrai for a long long time. Was this part of it?
Sending troops is an act of war. Toxic hubris in DC.
More positive news. Aaron Bushnell is not alone. People all over the world are standing up. I just read on Tele-Sur that 12,000 artists have signed a petition demanding that Izzyhell not be allowed to participate in the Venice Biennale. A small step but hopefully one of many.

I think they were, and the problem is and was that Hamas proved a much more formidable opponent than was expected, and they proved to have many steadfast companions in the fight. I thought the fear and rage of the Izzie military and political elites was obvious right from the beginning.

If you love men and women as they intrinsically are, this quote about Spanish/American perceptions fits better than any dogmas.

“…The mantle of the Goulds’ hereditary position in Sulaco had descended amply upon her little person; but she would not allow the peculiarities of the strange garment to weigh down the vivacity of her character, which was the sign of no mere mechanical sprightliness, but of an eager intelligence. It must not be supposed that Mrs. Gould’s mind was masculine. A woman with a masculine mind is not a being of superior efficiency; she is simply a phenomenon of imperfect differentiation, interestingly barren and without importance. Don~a Emelia’s intelligence being feminine led her to achieve the conquest of Sulaco, simply by lighting the way for her unselfishness and sympathy. She could converse charmingly, but she was not talkative. The wisdom of the heart having no concern with the erection or demolition of theories any more than with the defence of prejudices, has no random words at its command. The words it pronounces have the value of acts of integrity, tolerance and compassion. A woman’s true tenderness, like the true virility of man,is expressed in action of a conquering kind…

The Spanish, (coming into New Mexico,) had a word for her whom the Orthodox call the ‘Theotokos’ [birthgiver of God]:
La Conquistadora.
In b’s terrible photograph, (and in the video I posted earlier) she is the flame, the flame of the fire and of the candle.

The New York Post reports that Aaron Bushnell had told a friend of his that he had secret information of US troops fighting in tunnels under Gaza, just hours before setting himself on fire stressing that he would “no longer be complicit in genocide”.
Bushnell served in the Air Force’s 70th Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Wing. He had “top-secret clearance’’ for military intelligence data in a call to his friend Saturday night, according to the Post
Psyops and misdirection perhaps, a new angle other than mental illness anyway

Arguments don’t affect reality in the ground, Jane.
Missiles do.

Duh.
Not as perspicacious as usual, Arch (;-).
The way people use arguments definitely can affect reality on the ground.
I am sure you can think of examples, so I won’t bother to list some arguments currently affecting “the ground.”

I keep looking at this and pondering …
The fact that the Mossadi embassy guards did not scoop up the video camera and whisk it into the bunker is troubling … indeed, they allowed the footage to escape and be published.
This is spooking me a bit.

I posted this link before, but it’s way back on the thread – the officer with the gun drawn is not Israeli/Mossad. The US Secret Service has admitted in response to questions from the press that he is one of their agents. See:
https://reason.com/2024/02/26/why-did-cops-point-a-gun-at-a-burning-gaza-protester/
Also, I have read in numerous articles that Aaron Bushnell was live-streaming with his camera to an on-line company called Twitch, so grabbing the camera after they noticed it wouldn’t have made much of a difference.

No one needs to double dot the i’s on this. Anyone with half a mind already understands that no one should harm “Israeli” children.
A real Israeli is any Jew who supports the expulsion or genocide (same thing, isn’t it ?) of Palestinians. But out of nowhere, you raised the distinction of “Israeli civilians”. Polls show slightly over 90% of “Israeli citizens” support the genocide right now. The only solution for that 90% is for them to die off, because they are heartless and determined in their crimes. Nothing else will stop them. Relocating these a**holes outside of Palestine will not stop their criminal activity. They need to be dealt with right where they are. Slowly, a variety of forces – dare I say holy forces without sounding like a religious extremist ? – are rising up to deal with what we euphemistically call “Jewish extremism”. For the Rest Of The World, it is vital to understand what’s going on, and to not fall prey to whatever new tricks the Zionists and other demons will try.
Beyond the black-and-white of responsibility for the genocide, I offer a very practical rule of thumb: Zionists want to maximize Jewish unity. Everyone else should want to minimize Jewish unity. It serves Zionist goals to blindly attack ordinary Jews – because that would increase Jewish unity. Any action which causes Jews at the periphery of this God-awful crime to take a step away, is more likely to be useful. For the core Zionists, the words of an AIPAC leader from 20 years ago still rings in my ears. Talking about leaders who oppose Zionism, he told a hall full of Junior AIPAC member, “We just get rid of them.” Indeed, they have made a very long list of victims, both famous victims like US Admiral Forrestal and the Swedish diplomat Bernadotte, to approximately 15,000 Palestinian children (since 1948).
One of the lessons of the genocides and holocausts of the 20th Century, is that since these are crimes against humanity, anyone who can do anything to oppose it, has moral standing to do what they can. Just keep in mind that good never comes from immoral actions.

This was pretty tech savvy Air-man, guessing this was live streamed being uploaded by friend(s) from another location as it was being filmed.
Grabbing that “camera” wouldn’t have been useful, although video clearly shows gun toting Mossad security guard saw it… in order to go grab camera, he would have to change attention, he clearly felt he was in danger and made a choice. From the security guard standpoint, he could have had anything on himself, a bomb, a gun, explosives and guard was terrified. The others were medics and such and not interested in concerning themselves with a camera.
At least that’s the reasoning I worked through as to how the upload/download happened at all.

“This mentally deranged psychopath put itself out of its misery. His family must be so PROUD of this achievement. I think more pro-Hamas terrorist wannabes should choose this noble path. The MOA armchair warriors that stroke themselves thinking about burning Jews alive should take a cue from Aaron. Arch Bungle should go first.”

The complete inanity of your prose confirms you are not a paid troll as no one, not even a retarded Hasbara with a mammoth trust fund would pay for such meagre drivel.
No, you are an ignorant, soul less creature who craves attention [hey canuk you dummy, you are giving him what he wants! editor] but since you have no friends you need to provoke through posts to receive any attention, whatsoever.

“I think more pro-Hamas terrorist wannabes should choose this noble path.”
Every armed resistance group against Western global interest is a “terrorist” group these days… hell, even “right wing extremist groups” in USA got promoted to “domestic terrorist” in the last year or so. So the “terrorist” mantra is rather dull.
Your irrational statement of “burning Jews alive” has no current relevance, nor was it ever advocated, just made up by you.
Your entire basis and argument to substantiate your “hate” of Aaron is baseless, flawed and meritless.
But, that’s the norm for genocide defenders.

No idea if accurate, but this is a story out there. Forgive if already posted, not keeping up with all comments:

Aaron Bushnell, US Air Force airman reportedly shared secret knowledge of US troops fighting in Hamas tunnels in Gaza, just hours ahead of his death. These were claims made by his friend who spoke to him a day before he killed himself.
On Sunday morning, 25-year-old airman who served in the Air Force’s 70th Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) Wing, set himself on fire outside the Israeli Embassy over US stand on Gaza crisis. He later succumbed to his injuries.
Aaron ranted that he had “top-secret clearance” for military intelligence data in a call to his friend on Saturday night, The Post reported. “He told me on Saturday that we have troops in those tunnels, that it’s US soldiers participating in the killings,’’ the friend claimed.
The friend went on to suggest that Aaron had stated US had troops on the ground, who were killing large numbers of Palestinians. The friend believes these claims may be true as Aaron’s job was to process intelligence data and some of that was linked to Gaza conflict. “One of the things he told me is that coming across his desk … was the US military was involved in the genocides going on in Palestine,’’ an unnamed friend was quoted by The Post.

Douglas Reed’s “The Controversy of Zion” goes into great detail on the activities of the Zionist conspiracy around the rape and theft of Palestine. He demolishes a few other Zionist myths along the way.
Available online as a free pdf. Strangely the publishing industry wont touch it with a 40 foot pole.

Apologies for not having a link, but Newsweek reported that usa veterans in Portland, Oregon burned their uniforms yesterday in solidarity with Airman Aaron Bushnell.
Has anybody found an obituary? If his family makes known where they would like contributions sent in his name (in lieu of flowers to funeral), I want to know.
Meantime, my next contribution to ANY cause will be in his honor. And the next one after that one, and the next… at least all through 2024.
Rest in peace and power, Aaron Bushnell Braveheart. Love and comfort to your family.

In Washington DC Senator Cotton had this to say:
In a press release, Mr. Cotton said Mr. Bushnell’s actions show that he “obviously harbored extreme, anti-American views.”

I learned more about the honorable Airman Aaron Bushnell by reading this:
https://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2024/02/29/democracy_now_the_life__death_of_aaron_bushnell_us_airman_self-immolates_protesting_us_support_for_israel_in_gaza.html
snips: “Ali Abunimah, the founder of The Electronic Intifada, wrote on social media, quote, “Aaron Bushnell gave his life so that America would hear his message: End the genocide. He kept calling ‘Free Palestine’ through intense, horrifying pain. He gave his life so people in Gaza might live. There’s no greater love than that. I feel sadness and awe for this human being,” Ali wrote.”
LEVI PIERPONT (note he is Aaron’s friend being interviewed) : “I want people to remember that his death is not in vain, that he died to spotlight this message. I don’t want anybody else to die this way. If he had asked me about this, I would have begged him not to. I would have done anything I could to stop him. But, obviously, we can’t get him back. And we have to honor the message that he left. I would have told him that this wasn’t necessary to get the message out. I would have told him that there were other ways. But seeing the way that the media responds now, now that this has happened, it’s hard not to feel like he was right, that this was exactly what was necessary to get people’s attention about the genocide that’s happening in Palestine. And so, I just — I want people to remember his message.”
JUAN GONZÁLEZ: And, Ann Wright (also being interviewed), your sense of how the movement here in this country to stop this genocidal war in Gaza has been building, and what Aaron Bushnell’s sacrifice may contribute to that?
ANN WRIGHT: Well, it’s a huge, huge movement. And the Biden administration must recognize it, as your previous guests said. I mean, the voters are telling them a message. This is a massive, massive movement of youth, of people of all religions, that are saying, by any religious teachings, this killing is wrong. It has to end.
And I would say to Levi, you know, we have Veterans for Peace, and we have About Face, veterans organizations that would like to offer you support, because this is tough, really tough. But it’s for the people of Gaza, the people of Palestine, that we do this, to stop these horrible, horrible policies that our country has right now. The killing of innocent people for the United States and for Israel, it has to end. And ceasefire now.
AMY GOODMAN: Ann, I understand there is a Gaza flotilla being organized. We only have 30 seconds. Can you explain what that is?
ANN WRIGHT: Yes. We need to take action. I mean, right now there’s lots of talk. There are trucks that are stalled all over northern Egypt. And our Gaza flotilla movement, we are going to be doing something soon. And we will let you all know — pardon me — as soon as we get the plans for challenging again the Israeli naval blockade of Gaza.
AMY GOODMAN: And do you know, Levi, as we have just 10-15 seconds, would Aaron have described this as suicide?
LEVI PIERPONT: No, absolutely not.
AMY GOODMAN: Explain.
LEVI PIERPONT: It was — he didn’t have thoughts of suicide. He had thoughts of justice. That’s what this was about. It wasn’t about his life. It was about using his life to send a message.

hope you are all still doing searches on his name so the internet can never ignore the numbers!

I was disappointed that George Galloway didn’t mention Bushnell in his latest MOATS broadcast. I didn’t hear Galloway’s victory speech last night. I hope he mentioned him then. I know the speech included the line “This is for Gaza”. That has been reported.
If Galloway hasn’t mentioned Bushnell yet, I hope he can be persuaded to do so. The combination of Galloway’s oratory and Bushnell’s bravery could make Bushnell’s act live in glory.

tommorrow. world wide. find a protest near you to attend. scroll down to see all the locations thus far.
I expect more veterans will attend because of Aaron Bushnell’s brave sacrifice. And more people of all sorts because “israel” just murdered innocent starving people in cold blood – and everybody knows it in spite of the ziojew liars’ attempts to obfuscate what we all know they did with premeditated, calculated genocidal intent.
sign suggestion: You know what else died in Gaza? The myth of Western Humanity and Justice.
