I am sure that you are right- there was no such thing as Hinduism when the British took over, but they needed it to balance out the muslims and to create a structure that they could use to keep the plebs in their places.
Of course the actual beliefs are very old and have a continuous existence. I’m not denying that Hindu beliefs and rituals have existed for millenia merely that they were more localised and less structured, more likely to evolve in response to social changes.Instead of which they have jelled into a gateway to fascism, just like the weird Judaism cobbled together and favoured by the nutcases running Israel.
Maybe someone who knows something about the subject will join in the discussion, but I’m pretty certain that what we call Hinduism today was something presrved in aspic by the British and the Hindu compradors, without whose tacit support the Raj would not have lasted more than a few months.

Casino Capitalism and the Derivatives Market: Time for Another ‘Lehman Moment’?
the quote
The Depository Trust Company (DTC) was formed in 1973 to alleviate the rising volumes of paperwork. The DTCC was established in 1999 as a holding company to combine the DTC and the National Securities Clearing Corporation (NSCC).
The DTCC is a central clearing counterparty (CCP) sitting at the top of a pyramid of banks, brokers and exchanges. All have agreed to hold their customers’ assets in “street name,” collect those assets in a fungible pool, and forward that pool to the DTCC, which then trades pooled blocks of stock and bonds between brokers and banks in the name of its nominee Cede & Co. The DTCC, a private corporation, owns them all. This is not a mere technicality. Courts have upheld its legal ownership, even in a dispute with client purchasers. According to the DTCC website, it provides settlement services for virtually all equity, corporate and municipal debt trades and money market instruments in the U.S., and central safekeeping and asset servicing for securities issues from 131 countries and territories, valued at $37.2 trillion. In 2022 alone, the DTCC processed 2.5 quadrillion dollars in securities.

A powder keg waiting to be blown by the elite at the moment necessary to cause the most fear and ongoing God Of Mammon Rules Based Order capitulation. I don’t think they can pull it off this time but history is on their side so far.

Nice. The DTCC owns it all including our nice ‘safe’ money market funds.
When the wheels come off all these funds will be diverted to the elites. At least as long as this financialized system of late capitalism is allowed to exist.

Gao is the modern day Goebbels for China. China bullies and intimidates with scant regard to international law.

What did Goebbels say about the anglophone ?

The English follow the principle that when one lies, one should lie big, and stick to it. They keep up their lies, even at the risk of looking ridiculous.

I too would be fascinated to read a critical appraisal of the rise of Hindutva ideology. Perhaps on another open thread…
Thank you for the reply.
