There Are Certain Things I Can Not Write About

I have tried to write about Gaza. But I am too aghast, outraged and depressed to create a sensible piece.

So instead of coming up with something by myself I will leave you with a few links:

There is certainly more. But the above are the better ones of those pieces I have read.

The BBC is still peddling the same tired old hasbara BS about beheaded babies, people burned alive, mass rapes etc.
I suppose all those hacks and stenographers have to earn their shekels.

The BBC has been “approached” by a team of lawyers for some British Jewish organization a number of times over its Gaza reporting. That is no secret, it has been in the MSM.

Slash government spending on the false belief that taxes fund it. Load households up with loans so they can keep consuming with financial deregulation across the board.
Is all these chumps know. They have no new ideas. Once bailed out by the state again as their gold stabdard, fixed exchange rate economic models never saw it coming. They’ll privatise the profits and socialise looses all over again.
Once they have pulled off this trick they generally wait until everyone who lived under the trick is dead. Then pull the rabbit out of the hat on a new generation of fools. Act all innocent about it.

EBRAHIM RAISI:
“America and the western countries that oppose the ceasefire in Gaza no longer have credibility with the people of the world.
Today, the BRICS member states have a historical responsibility to prove that human values cannot be sacrificed for political interests.
Based on this, I would like to emphasise these suggestions to stop the crime and help the people of Gaza.
1- Considering the inability of the UN Security Council to implement its mission to establish peace and security; and obstructing the US to issue a binding resolution for a ceasefire; It is necessary for the BRICS member countries to adopt a binding resolution in the UN General Assembly against the Zionist regime in the framework of the ‘Union for Peace’ mechanism, with the aim of stopping the crimes against the people of Gaza.
2- The continuous attacks of the Zionist regime on hospitals and medical centres, religious places, the killing of women and children, doctors, nurses and journalists in Gaza are all acts of terrorism. It is necessary to identify that fake regime as a terrorist regime and its army as a terrorist organisation.
3- The Islamic Republic of Iran supports the actions of some governments to bring the crimes committed by the usurping Israel in Gaza to the International Criminal Court and believes that, in addition to Israel, the United States should also be tried in international courts for crimes against humanity, genocide, and infanticide and punished quickly.
4- The need for collective action by BRICS members to break the blockade of Gaza and create a permanent and safe route for sending humanitarian aid to Gaza. In this regard, the permanent reopening of the Rafah crossing is seriously emphasised.
5- Due to the unprecedented crimes and bombings of several thousand tons of weapons, especially prohibited weapons such as white phosphorus in Gaza, it is necessary for BRICS members to establish a special international mission to immediately investigate this crime and publish its report in order to punish the perpetrators of this regime should be provided.
6- Considering the continuous crimes and the racist nature of the fake Israeli regime, the free nations expect all governments, especially the BRICS members, to put the complete severance of their political, economic and military relations with the Zionist regime on the agenda immediately. Continuing interactions with the fake Israeli regime, especially in the military and economic fields, means helping to continue the crimes and killing of women and children, which is condemned and blamed by all nations.
7- Recognising the right of the Palestinian people to defend themselves and their struggle to liberate the occupied areas is supported by all governments and free nations. BRICS’ firm support for this right shows that we fulfilled our human and moral duty and the enemies of Palestine will be disgraced before human conscience and history.
The Islamic Republic of Iran believes that the final solution that will lead to lasting peace and stability in West Asia and the world is the formation of a single Palestinian state after holding a referendum based on the democratic principle of ‘Every Palestinian, one vote’.
Being on the path of previous failed plans for peace will only result in the repetition of war and insecurity.
America and the Zionist regime must also know that they cannot stand against the will of the nations and that occupation and genocide will have no place in the new international just order.”

Beijing don’t have problems with Muslims. They have problems with an extremist segment of the Uyghur who are organised and funded by US to create violent attacks in China.

The idea that everything that is wrong is due to some conspiracy by the USA or the so called West is simply ridiculous. And dangerous, because many thinks here that simply by removing the USA from their position, or even worse the whole West, will be the remedy for every maladie of the world. I profess that the West is a misleading concept and that Europe and the USA are not living up to their declared ideals, however the world could easily find itself in a much worse situation.
Regarding Uyghur extremism, maybe you should look at Turkey and Qatar.

I agree with a lot of what you say, but I think it’s a bit unfair to slag off Russia and China that much.
Putin and Xi have to look after the interests of Russia and China and their people.
That’s their primary job.
They don’t have a magic wand to solve all the problems of the world.
Their main concern is to face down the aggressive hostility of the US and its satellites, who are openly trying to destroy both countries with unprecedented economic warfare, inciting actual wars, orchestrating terrorist groups, vitriolic propaganda campaigns and much else.
Russia has had to deal with a war that has cost half a million lives so far, the biggest in Europe since 1945. It has managed to protect its economy from all the efforts to destroy it. China faces similar threats and provocations over Taiwan.
They both have an ethos of non interference in other countries.
But they have played a very positive role, bringing about a reconciliation between S. Arabia and Iran, and probably preventing US aggression planned against Iran.
They have to act carefully in an environment where rabid psychopaths in the US and elsewhere are threatening nuclear war.
They have called out the Gaza genocide for what it is.
They are having to play a long game. The US/ EU are declining rapidly but will still be dangerous for some time to come. They have to manage one engineered crisis after another.
Should/ could they have done more?
Possibly. But it is difficult to help people who won’t help themselves. There was a summit of 57 moslem nations in Riyadh recently over Gaza.
How underwhelming was that??????????
They did NOTHING. Just hot air. “The UN should do something. The ICC should do something. Somebody (anybody except us) should do something.”
Utterly contemptible.
They refused even to take any minimal symbolic actions – break off relations with Israel/ end security cooperation with Israel/ stop supplying oil to Israel/ stop trading with Israel/ close their ports and airspace to Israel/ close US bases on their territory. Even now, they are all queueing up to open diplomatic relations with Israel. Saudi Arabia probably will soon, as soon as the dust settles in Gaza.
There are serious leaders like Nasrallah, Iran (non Arab) and others, nut most, like Abbas, are just bought and paid for quisling whores who are constantly backstabbing the Palestinians and one another. There is a limit to what you can do with such people.

I’ve just about had enough of Middle East Eye. I occasionally check their live blog-style updates on the Gaza situation, but it seems to include a lot of regurgitated government and MSM bs and lies. For example, this was in one of the updates on the truce agreement:

One of the hostages is a 3-year-old girl whose parents were amongst the more than 1,200 people killed in Hamas’ 7 October attack, the official said.

And how many of the alleged 1,200 killed were exterminated by the Israeli military? How many were military personnel? i.e. combatants.

But if even one person stumbles across your comments and starts to revaluate their position: every little bit helps. Like many others here I am in deep depression. But that is exactly part of the strategy. Whether you post or do not post, staying determined and calm is essential. Palestinians have resisted for over a century. I should be helping them in some way but instead they are the ones who inspire me.

Thanks for your comprehensive overview of the law. I hear your anger. People around the world care..
Everyone we read about in the mainstream press regardless of nationality is part the globetrotting elite that cares more about their image, career, ambitions for their nation than anything else. It does not matter if they are Chinese, Russian, British or American. MSM will never cover statements from Bolivia, Venezuela etc. If you want to be in the MSM (eve if you are slammed as a dictator) you are by definition playing their game.
Among my friends the ones who have NO empathy and are 100% aligned with Israel are all those who have a good lifestyle thanks to long term employment with corporations, government, academic, global environmental NGOs. There is no way in hell they will risk that by allowing themselves to debate, discuss or care about the issue. They are never going to bite the hand that feeds them. And this is regardless of nationality.
I think that dam of deception that Israel had built around is definitely broken once and for all. Things will change for the better for those who fight for equal rights and justice for all. We manifest what we believe in. It’s upto us. Whether it’s going to marches, INSISTING on debating with your friends and if necessary telling them that you’ll take a pause from the friendship until they condemn apartheid and genocide, calling your government, sharing updates on social media. Every little bit helps.
If you have any Red Cross office in your country call them and ask why they are not visiting Palestinian prisoners in jails. Call all these agencies that claim to help children. Say you were thinking of making a donation but you first need to see concrete efforts from them on Palestine.

Surely the problem with “voting” and getting struck with a result such as in Argentine, comes when BOTH sides to vote for are rotten? (usually in a “two” party system.)
The change in the masses has to be deeper than that made by a simple “vote” once every blue moon.

@119 “What matters is power. Either you have it, or you don’t.”
With all due respect, Macron, Plato through Socrates’ interlocution in his ‘Republic’, disabused the “might is right” idea 2,400 years ago:
“it gives Plato something to get his philosophical teeth in to. His definition of justice is famously that might is right: ‘I say that justice or right (diakaiosunē) is simply what is in the interest of the stronger party.’ (338c)
Socrates asks him in whose interest this is, and Thrasymachus replies that it is in the interests of the ‘ruling classes’. It is they who make the laws of the city (whether it is a tyranny, aristocracy or democracy) and therefore it is they who say what is right or wrong.
In other words morality is just a screen for power.[6] Again with Thrasymachus Socrates will aim to show is that the premises of his argument are contradictory, though he will be a lot less willing partner in this enterprise than Polemarchus.
First of all he asks him whether it is the case that rulers are always infallible and Thrasymachus replies that they are not. This means they could act not in their self-interest because they could pass poor laws which their subjects would have to obey even though they would fatally undermine the power of their rulers, which would contradict Thrasymachus’ original definition.
He replies that Socrates, as usual is being absurd, and that to be a ruler is to rule well, just as we would not call someone a doctor who had no medical skill. Even if that is the case, Socrates asks, are we clear what we mean by a ruler. Does a ruler rule in the same way that a doctor is a medical practitioner, and captain commands a ship.
Thrasymachus says he does. Well in these cases it is clear that it is the subject matter of the skill that the person is interested in and not the skill for its own sake. If this is the case, then a skill seeks the interest of the weaker rather than the stronger (the doctor aims to heal the sick not the well), which again would contradict Thrasymachus’ definition. But he replies that the shepherd does not look after the flock for their interest but his own in order to sell them at the market for meat. He then adds a further definition of justice that unjust will always do better than the just.
At first this might appear to be a contradiction, since he earlier asserted that justice is power, so the powerful would appear to be just not unjust. In reality, however, he has only changed his perspective from the ruler to the ruled. In a world where the powerful rule, then it is your best interest to be immoral. Socrates counter to this view is that justice cannot be a matter of self interest and indeed this is what the rest of the Republic will argue.”

These Muslim countries are already doing something about Palestine by supporting Muslim Brothethood to help the Zionists and USUKIS to colonise the Middle East.

Apologies, I accidentally posted this on the Palestine thread but it was meant for here.
Here is the post below:
I see a lot of anger directed at the BRICKS+, particularly from Lavrov’s dog. I kinda get it and wished for more too.
I wonder if the idea was to hope for Iran and the Saudis the chance to deal with this the way they did with Yemen. In turn it would cement their alliance and their strength in the region (multipolarity and so on…). American never used to interven in other affairs until it started, then its a blurred line between R2P and plain old meddling.
What do you make of they PLO in the West Bank. It’s pretty light coverage on them. I remember readin that Hamas was also a part creation of Israel and America to counter the PLO (hence their leader living in Qatar).
But then Biden started supporting the PLO again when Hamas went awry. No definite articles on this, but I did take up these handfuls that are interesting (they are all biased but might give you an inkling to what lead up to this).
https://www.jns.org/after-biden-sent-1-billion-to-the-plo-israeli-deaths-rose-900/
https://www.washingtoninstitute.org/policy-analysis/bidens-open-door-palestinian-authority

https://www.npr.org/2023/10/22/1207863782/who-governs-the-west-bank-understanding-palestinian-political-leadership
These are all western outlets, but you can tell their has definitely been meddling from a few factions in bothe Israel and Palestine.

Gee Eye Joe at 233, you are right and foreseeing a near certainty. Norman Finklestein, likely the most well-read on Israel’s Occupation & WR Crimes, has noted after each and every ceasefire and peace deal it was violated by Israel first. This is because they wanted to kill more people as that is their long-term national strategy, as famously opined by Moishe Dayan during a mid-20th Cen funeral.
As for everyone’s morale fatiguing from horror, take heart. UK & France had several air force slaughters against civilians in the Arab colonies, many in the tens of thousands. And yet in the end they still had to retreat. Oh sure they instituted satrapies, but even those erode over time, as we can see with France in West Africa. 🙂
It is all a travesty to rend the heart. But it should also steel one’s resolve to return to humanity. ‘Might makes right’ philosophy was the propaganda used before to make people give up resisting, ergo justifying grotesque excessive force and collective punishment.
Never believe in their propaganda lies, for they are lost inside and want to infect your insides with the same despair so as to better control you. Instead feel compassion for those who have succumbed to such a dark dream, invite them back into the humane light. Shine on regardless down to the last beat of your heart and remind them “Your loss is guaranteed until you change within” with your last breath. 🙂

I wanted to add to the above that when Biden mentioned the 2-state solution he mentioned the PLO being in charge. The West Bank is pretty weak, and Jordan has been buffering its border for a potential refugee crisis.
It seems like Israel and US/West had a divide and conquer attitude for Palestine. Make two separate parties and choose who to support when needed (a lot have alluded to the Muslim Brotherhood connection which is definitely wester backed).
Israel have took out the stronger party in Hamas (or are trying to), leaving landlocked West Bank to deal with later.
And look at this, which I actually missed –
https://www.itv.com/news/2023-11-18/joe-biden-says-palestinian-authority-should-govern-reunited-gaza-and-west-bank

The problem I see is the lack of concerted action that goes well beyond the well-meaning words of Russia, China and the Global Majority. “Highlights of President Xi’s remarks at the BRICS extraordinary virtual summit on the Palestinian-Israeli issue” provide an example where everything Xi said has already been said by many factors by the World, but there’s zero talk of action to make any of that reality, and it won’t be done by the Zionists or the Outlaw US Empire–that realization apparently needs to be pounded into the heads of BRICS+ and the Global Majority.

Along with occasional acute distress at contemplating the intense suffering of those in Gaza, Palestine and elsewhere, a deeper malaise comes from being repeatedly confronted by how poorly most macro, including world-related, issues are managed. We are brought up as good little materialists to believe in a linear timeline which superstitiously projects a future always more evolved than the past, but there is no such guarantee; all that endures in human affairs are bedrock principles which don’t essentially change at individual or collective levels, eternally accommodating ever-unfolding good and evil manifestations.
That said, when evil is perpetrated, it must be dealt with. Similarly, international bodies must be responsible for the entire life cycle of their decisions which, when dealing with a rogue nation they earlier enabled, must include a full range of effective interventions, including military.
Sadly, there is no such world order. The Hegemon abused its ad hoc pre-eminence, but a world without any over-arching Authority may prove worse.
All of this is quite dispiriting. Perhaps a deal is in the works: Israel gets to push the Palestinians out but forever renounces further ‘Eretz Israel’ expansion; she will integrate with the Middle East and BRICS which in turn will integrate with a BIS financial system oriented to a new ‘multipolar’ configuration, or whatever.
That said, any good global Authority depends upon the authentic sovereignty of its members. All Western States, for example, have lost theirs and must find a way to regain it. That should be their first priority.

A site operator calling for a pity party of his addicted and afflicted readers because he just can’t take the news anymore is a weirdly Western conceit.
Prolly time for a fund-raising appeal.
Woo, and I’m spent.

Bernard, you are a rare voice of sanity. Take it easy when you need. We need your courage and resilience for the long term!
For You and everyone here, I’d share a song and three piano solos I happen to be releasing today.
First is my own antiwar song and call for peace.

Second are three pieces from an album of original piano compositions.

Take care B. If there is a time when we need to stand up and speak up, it is now. But we are still individually all just human. Preserving our own sanity – giving each some tranquility and peace – is important to us continuing the bigger struggle.
Peace and Warm Wishes,
Allen

I have had over ten years in China, taking a different province each year for most years. You need to chill. I won’t reply again. I have many Chinese Muslim friends from many ethnic groups.

@b :

“I have tried to write about Gaza. But I am too aghast, outraged and depressed to create a sensible piece.”

That’s a very well understandlbe statement here – no ‘excuse’ anyway is required here.
As all MoAs may have felt still today the really effective consequences like this GAZA tradegy ..
May hope – or do not. ISR Nethan-Yahoo chief/Kaiser is going ahead supported by “his” devil ghosts, always claimed by Jewish Settlers.
What about 30.000 IRAN Undercover Operating forces?`- having started towards GAZA?

‘Within hours of the events and, before any investigation was conducted, Netanyahu spoke of “decapitated babies”, supposedly mutilated at the hands of the Resistance; Gallant claimed that “young girls were raped violently”; even former military chief rabbi, Israel Weiss, said he had “seen a pregnant woman with her belly torn open and the baby cut out.”’
From the article linked by b.
Such liars. Even the Rabbi for god’s sake. They have no respect forthe goyim as humans. Goys are cattle. Jewish people give or take 50 million globally.? Goys are 7.98billion. Thats how f’cked up and insane these people are, to believe they are the real humans and chosen of god, and no one else is.

Hello, Israel people in Tel-Aviv, please may listen as follows – for the “next days”:
Even HAMAS have died (means: all guys being killed today by the ISR-Nethan-Yahoo big forces),
there would remain a so-called “Hezbollah”, but latter no more exist.
The IRAN “Hidden-Army” – approx. 30.000 figthers in background – will cause a some of new “problems” to Jewish-Settler fighters, when attacks on Tel-Aviv City will start next weeks ..
Believe that? Not? Then may wait + listen to MSM Radio …
