Moon of Alabama Brecht quote

One Religion’s War Against All Others

Alastair Crooke in Al Mayadeen:

Israeli popular sentiment — even amongst former liberals — is moving toward a Greater Nakba. Gaza is under Nakba pressures. So is the West Bank, as settler violence against Palestinians surges. Even a ‘liberal’ such as former opposition leader Lapid now agrees that ‘settlers’ in the occupied West Bank are not ‘settlers’ at all, since the land is but the ‘Biblical land of Israel’.

Nakba ‘ambitions’ are widening to South Lebanon (up to the Litani River) too. The radical members of Netanyahu’s government say Israelis will never return to the kibbutz adjacent to Lebanon, without Hezbollah’s removal from the border area.

So, the call is heard for "Israel" to ‘take’ Lebanon up to the Litani (a key water source) — and ‘serendipitously’ the Israeli air force has begun operating up to 40 kms inside Lebanon. Cabinet members now openly speak of the IOF needing to turn its attention to Hezbollah once Hamas has been ‘obliterated’.

Plainly, the White House is struggling to avoid the slide towards full regional war, as both the Lebanese front and the Iraqi front heats up: On Sunday, Iraqi movements again fired missiles at the American base in Shaddadi.

"Israel" is sensing the present crisis to be both an existential risk, but an ‘opportunity’ too – an opportunity to establish "Israel" across ‘its Biblical lands’ over the long term. There is no mistaking it — this is the direction of travel of Israeli popular sentiment, from both Left and Right wings, to bloody eschatology.

As I had pointed out three weeks ago President Joe Biden had supported that Israeli Nakba strategy before he was forced to pull back:

US 'actively working' to establish safe corridor for Gaza civilians: White HouseYeni Safak – Oct 12, 2023 The US is in active talks with Israel and Egypt to establish "safe passage" corridors for civilians in Gaza to flee ongoing Israeli airstrikes, the White House said Wednesday amid an expected ground offensive in the besieged enclave.

"We're actively discussing this with our Israeli and our Egyptian counterparts, we support safe passions for civilians. Civilians are not to blame for what Hamas has done. They didn't do anything wrong," National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby told reporters at the White House.

"We are actively working on this with Egyptian and our Israeli counterparts. Civilians are protected under the laws of armed conflict, and they should be given every opportunity to avoid the fighting," he added.

Israel is continuously squeezing the 2.3 million people in Gaza towards the Egyptian border:

Israel drops leaflets warning people to flee southern Gaza townsGuardian – Nov 16 2023

Israel has dropped leaflets into southern Gaza telling Palestinian civilians to leave four towns on the eastern edge of Khan Younis, raising fears that its war against Hamas could spread to areas it previously said were safe. The flyers told civilians in Bani Shuhaila, Khuza’a, Abassan and al-Qarara that anyone in the vicinity of militants or their positions was “putting his life in danger”, local people told Reuters.

The UN’s human rights chief, Volker Türk, said that five weeks into the war, “massive outbreaks of infectious disease, and hunger” seemed inevitable in the densely populated Palestinian territory. He predicted catastrophic consequences if fuel supplies ran out, including the collapse of sewage systems and healthcare and an end to the already scarce supplies of humanitarian aid.

The intentionally created misery will be used to put pressure on Egypt and others to open their borders for refugees. Then the same method will be applied in the West Bank. South Lebanon up the Litani river is a more difficult matter as Hizbullah, once unleashed, is a real existential thread to Israel. The rick there is to get the U.S. to do the bloody work.

And all this would not stop there as some extremist settlers want even more foreign land:

What are the borders of that Jewish nation?

The borders of the homeland of the Jews are the Euphrates in the east and the Nile in the southwest. [This would include the territory of multiple Middle Eastern countries as well as the territory that Israel controls today.]

There’s a Palestinian slogan that has become very controversial: “From the river to the sea,” which means from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea. It’s controversial because it would include all the land that currently makes up Israel. But you’re saying from the river to the—

What is controversial?

Palestinians sometimes use the slogan “From the river to the sea.” But what you’re saying is that from the river to the Nile is the Jewish homeland, correct?

Of course. If someone decides to invent a new religion today, who will decide the rules? The first nation that got the word from God, the promise from God—the first nation is the one who has the right to it. The others that follow—Christianity and Islam, with their demands, with their perceptions—they’re imitating what existed already. So, why in Israel? They could be anywhere in the world. They came after us, in the double sense of the world.

This is a war by a significant number of believers in one religion against all others.

From Novara Media YouTube video on IOF Hospital footage which also includes legal opinion:
Right to self defense Article is under Art 51 UN Charter: only when one state attacked by another.
Occupying power cannot invoke self defense against people it occupies. Longest occupation in modern history.
ICJ Advisory Opinion 2004 says art 51 irrelevant because Israel is an occupying power and cannot invoke SD against people who have a right to resist.
In this armed conflict both parties must abide by IHL and especially 4th article Geneva Convention protection of civilians that Israel is violating.
All four “evidence”videos have been shredded on twitter.
Video 1: the guy showing the elevator shaft and a calendar that he claimed was a terrorist “shift” list has become the hottest meme going.
Video 2: full of hilarious stupidity but the biggest absurdity was that the “terrorists hid guns” …..behind a GIANT MAGNET. Nobody could take a gun near an MRI if the machine was on
However the IOF clearly reads comments because he said: look guys, no cuts in the video and don’t give me this crap that we planted it….
Video 3: they dug up a sewage tank as evidence of a “tunnel”.
Video 4: now they cover their faces to avoid being memed. Progress.
They show a huge pristine white vehicle with guns. While people are taking wounded to the hospital in donkey carts. It took them three days to spot the huge white vehicle.
What’s terrifying is that the second video shows they are COMPLETELY DESTROYING EVERYTHING IN THE HOSPITAL.
All Northern Gaza hospitals are now destroyed and/or under siege surrounded by tanks. No medical help. Indonesian hospital was a bloodbath yesterday. And it has now shut down.
200 men taken away. Dead bodies have also been taken away by Israel.

Orthodox Christians know well that every faith has its betrayers, who can dominate and call themselves the true faith. Back in the eighth century there were those within our church who started a pogrom against icons, and they dominated the church for centuries. People were persecuted, tortured, terrible crimes were committed against them in the name of the state religion. So many icons were destroyed that only in Egypt did one monastery remain to claim continuity with the artistry of the past, Saint Catherine’s in the Sinai.
It can happen to any faith. Here’s a fragment of verse from Eliot’s Four Quartets:

…The Word in the desert
Is most attacked by voices of temptation,
The crying shadow in the funeral dance,
The loud lament of the disconsolate chimera.

Most attacked. And where did the icon painters find refuge? They found it in Rome, because the Roman Christians did not have the same intense reverence for icons- for them the art was just beautiful religious paintings. But they gave the icon painters refuge. And finally they were able to return, when faith in them was restored.
For myself, I would not like to live in a world without icons. But that is me.

Words move, music moves
Only in time; but that which is only living
Can only die. Words, after speech, reach
Into the silence. Only by the form, the pattern,
Can words or music reach
The stillness, as a Chinese jar still
Moves perpetually in its stillness.

Multipolarity.

I highly suggest barflies read all of Crooke’s al-Mayadeen column for it contains much more than the bit b cited, specifically the actual military confrontation that the IOF is losing.
As for the rest, I suggest my three related substack essays: “Vengeance or Eschatological Rage? Both Are Genocide in Gaza”; “Zionism: The Cult and Its Adherents”; and “War in West Asia: Another Point-of View”.
What the Zionists are trying hard to do and failing at currently is expanding the war in the North. I suggest this item at The Cradle, “Beyond rhetoric: Iraq’s resistance front expands to US-Israeli war on Gaza”.

“Thanksgiving” Day of Mourning is coming up here in the U.S.A.. On this day instead of eating oneself glutton and watching football games, North American Indigenous peoples fast and remember what really happened. As this “holiday” this year is coinciding with the current Nakba taking place in Palestine, looks like it is time for this holiday to go international.

This is what Israel has always been. It has gotten away with that only because of US domestic politics.
When the US changes, then Israel will stop, and likely end as a Jewish State within a few decades after that, rather like South Africa and Rhodesia.

@11 Jared
Many assume that the USA controls Israel and tells it what to do but how can you clarify why the Biden Administration has been mentioned in recent articles that they cannot change or affect the Genocide in Gaza. Biden’s hands are tied since Nuttyyahoo is quoted as saying ((they)) will squeeze and use up the usa until there is nothing left?? How do you explain that??
No- the leash is actually on the us president and so when the people startprotesting much harder Biden will be done. And the us will be done….on earth until they go to heav- hell.

The appearance of things support what you say. It appears that Israel actually runs western imperialism via AIPAC and a 5th column within the political elite in the US. Appearances are frequently not reality.
The reality underneath this appearance is that Likud/yahoo are the Ukronazis/Zelinsky of the middle east and this Gaza genocide is a version of the murder of innocents in Donbass.
US imperialism has the same regional ambitions in the middle east that they have in Eurasia. Gaza is the spark to set the whole region alight while they believe it’s still possible to take Lebanon, Syria and Iran.
They cover the whole thing with a class of victims built up by their media over decades: the Jews. Not unlike their domestic operations which are covered by another class of golden victims built up by the media over decades: women, blacks, gays.
In both cases, none of this is uniformly endorsed by Jews, women, blacks, or gays. Yet, they make good cover.
The RC dares you to challenge their desperate imperial operations and if you do you are antisemitic, racist, sexist or homophobic. It wants to channel your opposition to imperialist war and the destruction of elementary rights to an opposition to their golden victims. If they succeed, they get all the wage slaves fighting one another and not the Imperialists, which then justifies further attack on your basic rights…to keep the peace.
There is a solution to this: class war. That option if done properly eliminates the contrived tribalism by drawing all wage slaves into an anti imperialist block across nations.

This is a negotiation, and the Jews are nothing if not good negotiators. The Arabs’ opening offer is “we will kill most of you and push the rest into the sea.” If the Jews just countered with the modest proposal like “we’ll give you your own state to do as you please in all of Gaza and the West Bank,” then the ultimate negotiated middle after give and take would be unacceptable. So, you have to provide a downside — stay in Gaza and the West Bank, stop firing rockets, and slaughtering concertgoers OR ELSE. And the OR ELSE has to be something less than, “we’ll give you your own state to do as you please in all of Gaza and the West Bank.” So, the Jews continue to encroach on the lands that have been previously been offered to the Palestinians, which the Palestinians have repeatedly rejected. I would have more sympathy for the Palestinians if they would ever accept any of the proposals for a two state solution. Then, if the Jews did not respect the recognized borders, whatever they are, then I would condemn the Israelis. However, so long as the Arabs are stuck on their opening offer of “we will kill most of you and push the rest into the sea” it is hard to sympathize with their plight.

>> “its war against Hamas ”
Dropping 25000 tons of 2.2 million of your own citizens, a few thousand of which may or may not be associated with an organization accused of committing acts of terror* is neither a war (armies of two states fighting each other) nor targeting Hamas (killing several innocent civilians per target is not targeted strikes, it is slaughter).
* or, as our media would call it if those acts were committed by Israeli citizens of the Jewish faith “operations” against terrorists hiding behind human shields.

Alastair Crooke really loves pushing his bullsh*t about the civilization clash narrative that he worked so hard to build during his decades long career in MI6. Let’s remember he started his career as Cold War arms dealer in Afghanistan. Participated in a fake peace process to further subjugate Palestinians. And then after being outed by Israel became a sly Islamophobe.
Now he spends his retirement hoping we will buy the Clash he is cheering for.
“So Muslims come to see the crisis as an uncompromising civilisational war — The West versus ‘us’.”
What absolute hogwash.
Most journalists, Jewish (eg. Max Blumenthal) and non Jewish (Vanessa Beeley, Eva Bartlett have framed this as a resistance against a violent, supremacist, apartheid regime. Which is my view too. The Palestinian resistance used to be secular. Hezbollah has Christian members and protecting Christians in its charter.
Nobody in the region wants war. They just want genocide in Gaza to stop.
That’s why the main word used to describe the Riyadh summit was “disappointing”.
Until recently there using to be lots of Christian Democrat parties in Europe but if someone puts Muslim in their party name….it must be authoritarian and repressive.
The civilization clash that Alastair doesn’t realise is happening is civilization on one side and barbarian savages on the other. And thiß doesn’t run across national or religious boundaries. Trade unions across the world eg are on the side of “civilization”.

To distill this barbarism unfolding before my eyes into a few words —
The Teeny Tiny Strip of land called Israel and the little island of UK are fearful because they are resource poor and the world’s power constellation has irreversibly changed.
This motivates calculations of violence and genocide, using whatever justifications and proxies are available including homicidal Talmudic settlers from Brooklyn. Once fear is spread into the population of Israel (nutty’s “911”), the fire of chaos spreads, altering ‘facts’ on the ground such that stealing and killing is good.
They, the modern-day barbarians, infiltrated the US’s MICIMATT through theft, deception, blackmail and bribery ( finding many willing accomplices in US) to enable their imperialist aspirations. The intensification of this outrage, ongoing
since the inception of the Wolfowitz Doctrine, but also before, reveals big-eared idiots, who cannot listen, sitting naked on nukes with other idiots cheering them on. Insanity is USUKIS.
Traditionally sharing is a win win. Most women know this through long experience. Some of these big-eared men who can’t listen want it all and can’t conceive of sharing. Everything is theirs.
An interesting aside. Doug Feith was working for Izzy intel according to a senior pentagon official who was positioned to know. Dialing 911 ( in US this is an emergency number) is mutifaceted; when ‘they’ do it we all suffer.

The roots of the Palestinian – Israeli crisis are historically far deeper and more profound than known which makes this crisis said to be the most important to the fate of humanity. Futurist Benjamin Creme, who provided information about Maitreya – the teacher for the age and head of what is called the Spiritual Hierarchy, stated:
“The Palestinian/Israeli problem, which is central to the problems of the Middle East, I believe will only be solved through the action of Maitreya. But even Maitreya cannot impose a solution, he can only advise. But his acceptance by countless millions in the world as a spiritual teacher and guide will make it easier for the most fanatical Israeli Jew or Palestinian Muslim to accept the necessity of living together side by side. This can only take place when justice is given to the Palestinians. When justice is done and seen to be done, fully and completely, then the solution will become acceptable by the Muslims, and, even if grudgingly, by the Israelis.
They have eventually to learn to live side by side and they can only do so in a state of justice. Otherwise there would inevitably be perpetual war between the two.”

For “believers” in final sentence of top post substitute “batshit insane” and for “one religion” try “Bronze Age tribal cult”. And it is even worse than that since any original tribe with such insane eschatology is long gone with the wind. What we have instead is cosplay Bronze Age, dressup games for the insane.
We should laugh these clowns off the stage. Instead we feast and fete them, give them money and weapons.

The belligerents are only able to pursue their aim to destroy each other because various factions in the West (Cocaine Importation Agency, Meddling Internationally 6 and other chaos addicted cartels) continue to fund them. If the supply of weapons and cash were stopped they would have to resort to sticks and stones and would then remove the threat of Armageddon that the rest of us have to live under.

Why can’t we all just grow up, forget all the silly, nonsensical religious idiocy on all sides and resolve our differences non-violently like “homo sapiens”? Answer: because we humans are an evolutionary mistake. First clue: We named ourselves as “homo sapiens”. Nothing could be further from the truth. Second clue: Every single despicable nation (human tribe) labels itself as the ‘chosen ones’. Comes with tribalism. The more ‘chosen’ a particular tribe, the more despicable its actions. Case in point: Current Israel. The good news: In a thousand years from now (no time at all in geological terms) the country now known as Israel will be gone and forgotten. Something to look forward to.

ps: the difference between Crooke’s “clash of civilization” framing vs “resistance to apartheid supremacist occupier” has huge implications.
The “Clash” narrative urges you to be on the side of NATOstan’s genocide because we have to fear that “other” religion. Like it or dislike it, right now it’s NATOstan and Israel on one side and Global South-India on the other. But we need to be scared of the I word.
On the other hand the resistance-occupier narrative means that everyone who has been screwed over by Empire, including the people who work hardest in real jobs, identify with Palestinians. WITHIN Natostan. The highly paid professional classes, aka David Graeber’s Bullshit Job class are largely absent at the marches. The main people present are those who make a living from this.
Trouble WITHIN Empire is what Empire Champions like Crooke fear the most. And yet it is public pressure within NATOstan that is the best hope for stopping the carnage.

Proxy are not necessarily under complete and direct control of the principal.
Ukraine would be another example.
And that is part of the appeal of the proxy (attack dog) – the feature of deniability.
Clearly the US could reign Israel in if it chose to.
That the US indicates it cannot, does not make it so.
I think an objective view makes the reality apparent.
But the reality is inconvenient for some.
I may be mistaken.

The above article is important prediction. The Global West, the UN, Russia, China, the Middle East have since the inception of Israel set no boundaries on conformance with international law after Eisenhower made them give back the Sinai to Egypt. This has given Israel a sense of impunity which has only been reinforced in the present by heavily armed gunboats defending as well as total failure of the UN or any other global entity to enforce even the Security council sanctioned humanitarian pause. For Israel, Likud dominated, this is the green light for expansion through Syria, Lebanon, parts of Jordan et.al. as well as once and forever extinguishing the threat of Iran. The Old Testament , which to them overrides any man-made institutional strictures, entitles them to all lands from the Euphrates to the Nile as “God given.” All geopolitical efforts so far to contain the conflagration against the Palestinians has only been read by Israeli leaders as the green light for further expansion. Clearly, Israel has slipped the leash from US control and is on a genocidal rampage, threatening to inflict on Beirut and Lebanon the same carnage as Gaza – and onward to Syria and Iran. Either the rest of the world more effectively confronts and contains this belligerent country, invokes the genocide conventions against them or there will be regional warfare which will immediately inflame the entire world.

The toy is worldly power. It is empire. It is money, land, influence, obedience. It is the hegemony of polite discussion and allowable thought. It is the temptation that violent control commands safety and comfort. It is one over the other, exploitation, a game that requires people to be othered and then manipulated.
Worldly power does grant all this and more… for a time. But like dust on the wind it goes away, and the bill for moral sickness comes due. The cost is your self. You do not dance with delusions of grandeur and come to unchanged, or well loved.
Round and round we go, ever rhyming with past warnings. And yet the spoiled child must be taught right from wrong. Can we resist and correct, or must we all fall down?

The title of the article misses the mark by far IMO. The Zionist ideology involves the supremacy of the Anglo-American empire. The non-Jewish Zionists outnumber not just the Jewish Zionists, but the entire Jewish population globally by orders of magnitude. And it is obvious that without the Gentile Zionists the Jewish ones would be minor players.
By now, it is safe to assert that it is the bottomless support towards Israel by the Anglosphere that has led to the transformation of Zionism from a chauvinist ideology to one of visceral, genocidal racism. Since Zionism mirrors Anglo-American supremacism – albeit with a far superior brand due to the weaponization of the Holocaust – its proponents, ever consistent champions of Anglo superiority, ensured unconditional backing for Israel. That led to a progressive degeneration into an intensely extremist mindset that would be unacceptable for any other entity that doesn’t enjoy such support form the Anglo-American regime and consequently the west.
All in all, the present horror show isn’t an exclusively Jewish thing nor one connected strictly with Judaism. The massive support for the utterly criminal Zionist regime by the collective west is fundametally a self-validation of said western neo-colonialists. And it is imperative to grasp this particular aspect of the conflict whose current intensity is a product of a consistent western policy for quite some time. Placing emphasis exclusively or mostly on Israel only serves to hide this grim reality.

This is the reason I object so vehemently to Empire “experts” like Crooke. They deliberately obfuscate the fact that everything about Israel since 1948 is documented in international law but there has been no ENFORCEMENT.
40% of all UN resolutions in its entire existence are against Israel.
There was no enforcement when Palestinian resistance was secular and peaceful. The PA tried so hard Israel to ICC and ICC sat on its backside for 15 years when it took about 5 days to get a warrant for Putin.
Netanyahoo may quote the Bible or Donald Duck to avoid going to jail. We all know he is no Rabbi.
For those who doubt me, read Crooke’s foreign policy publications and book. His whole job right now is to tell the media to tell the public to trust in Empire because the alternative is worse.
His summaries of recent events may be useful for those who don’t follow the Telegram channels and updates from AJ etc. But he can’t stop himself from adding “civilization clash”.
Because the alternative would be to talk about a supremacist Empire and its rules based order: Follow my rules or I will kill you.

Did God give the Holy Land to the Jews/Israelite’s?
Author Naomi Wolf was challenged to read the Bible.
“We as Jews are raised with the creed that “God gave us the land of Israel” in Genesis — and that ethnically ‘we are the chosen people.” But actually — and I could not believe my eyes when I saw this, I checked my reading with major scholars and they confirmed it — actually God’s “covenant” in Genesis, exodus and Deuteronomy with the Jewish people is NOT ABOUT AN ETHNICITY AND NOT ABOUT A CONTRACT. IT IS ABOUT A WAY OF BEHAVING.
Again and again in the “covenant” language He never says: “I will give you, ethnic Israelites, the land of Israel.” Rather He says something far more radical – far more subversive — far more Godlike in my view. He says: IF you visit those imprisoned…act mercifully to the widow and the orphan…welcome the stranger in your midst…tend the sick…do justice and love mercy ….and perform various other tasks…THEN YOU WILL BE MY PEOPLE AND THIS LAND WILL BE YOUR LAND. So “my people” is not ethnic — it is transactional. We are God’s people not by birth but by a way of behaving, that is ethical, kind and just. And we STOP being “God’s people” when we are not ethical, kind and just.

AND — it never ever says, it is ONLY your land. ”

Which suggests this posturing about the Holy Land might just be the the oldest surviving narrative known to ‘People Kind’.
Might have even inspired Joseph Smith’s wondrous tales about disappearing Golden Plates which an entire modern day religion was built upon. Curiously Smith received directions to locate the plates from an Angel named MORONI. Can’t make this stuff up.
Yet it inspired not just a separate religion, also legions of youngsters to travel to foreign lands as missionaries spreading the word. See Mitt Romney goes to France and avoids Vietnam.
Which leads me to George Carlin’s thoughts on Religions…:)

Absolutely. Hezbollah has plenty of missiles to take out every airstrip in Israel. Sufficient range, sufficient accuracy, redundancy. If the damage is repairable, Hezbollah takes them out again. The question is can Hezbollah do this without meeting nuclear weapons?

You cannot stop an air force by holing the tarmac, that is too easy to repair. Sure, you can disrupt operations somewhat but that’s it.
You need to go after the aircrafts themselves if you want decisive results.

Might is Right.
My God is bigger than your God.
Killing my neighbor is justified by Passage xxxx(3) of my chosen book.
All I know for certain is the future will not get better for Israel as they kill – for whatever reason they chose to conjure up.
And how Washington DC is controlled by Israeli and U.S. “Christian” Zionists is a question worth pursuing.

Very good post!
In my view, the way the human mind and propaganda works is that the “creator of reality” subverts the emotional response of any traumatic event and builds on it using previous prejudices like tribalism, racism, and other fake truisms to subvert the victim’s minds to a new version of reality, which when cemented into place, due to the temporarily vulnerability of the target victim of brainwashing.
Fake facts like “God intended the US of A” to a bunch of genocidal white people, or any place to any specific tribe, is just a justification to genocide and greed.
Religion IMHO on an every day basis, helps people get through their agony of their lives, and for others justifies their misdeeds and emotional responses to events. In other circumstances, it incorrectly describes empirical facts of obsolete paradigms.

Barflies !
Please read or skim this ICJ advisory opinion – it’s absolutely devastating for Tel Aviv. It’s jaw dropping in its condemnation.

Few people would disagree with the proposition that the State most likely to use nuclear weapons in the foreseeable future is Israel.
It follows that tracking Israel’s nuclear weapons likely has the highest priority.
And it follows from that that Israel is the biggest danger to World peace and therefore the most likely recipient of a pre-emptive strike.
Does Netanyahu feel lucky?

Many of these overt appeals are coping.
All of us are helpless in times like these, so we tend to rationalize just outcomes in an attempt to obtain catharsis.
I prefer to pray for the safety of the innocent and to soften the hearts of the wicked.

he question is can Hezbollah do this without meeting nuclear weapons?
Posted by: oldhippie | Nov 17 2023 15:56 utc | 24
That is the big question. I believe the Brits were trying to Pull the US into direct conflict with Russia in the Ukraine. The Israelis are doing the same. The Israelis, with religion to back up their hatred and the next level crazies, same as CIA Islamic terrorism ISIS, AQ, Freedom fighters ect.
Plenty of religious crazies in the US as well that will be trying to push US into a major middle east war as well.

Yes you are correct. Israel is a forward base for the US in the middle east. For anyone who says it the other way are either forgetting or trying to downplay imperialism. This was article that was linked in one of the comments a few days ago:
https://michael-hudson.com/2023/11/israel-as-a-landed-aircraft-carrier/
The leaders of the axis of resistance all say this also they know America is the head of the beast. They see Israel as a little defenseless country that can barely standup for itself without help from the US.

Religion… meh. All I’m hearing here is land-grab and resource-grab. If I murder my neighbour and take his house I need a narrative that explains why I was right (‘it wasn’t murder’) and why his house was always in some sense ‘mine’. All metaphysical and theological mumbo-jumbo has its roots in the repression of some scandalous historical reality. This is the message of Sophocles’ Oedipus Tyrannos: all my self-belief is so much wilful occlusion of a foundational crime. It makes the world turn…

RIchard – 45
“He became the leading influence on Ezra and the priestly school that edited the Torah’s early sources into a version that was finalized when the Jews returned from Babylon and wrote the Babylonian concepts of economic justice into the Mosaic Holiness Code. In an apocalyptic tone Ezekiel 7 announces: “The word of the Lord came to me: … ‘The end is now upon you and I will unleash my anger against you. I will judge you according to your conduct and repay you for all your detestable practices,’” citing the polarization of wealth by the wealthiest Jews, corrupting the law courts and violating the original covenant with the Lord.“
Michael is saying that the prophets were actually intellectuals who lied to people and spoke in God’s name with threats. He also did this after the fact given that they were in exile. Also Michael leaves out the bits about non-Babylonian parts of the new religion from Babylon, this courtesy of Zoroastrian empire of the Persians (who is returning this new edited version back to Jerusalem).
If it is the word of prophets you are looking for, there is Sura 17 of Qur’an. That states God’s position regarding this entire matter. Reading between the lines, Allah seems to approve of a one state solution since there is affordances in reasonable readings of that Sura for the children of Israel to actually “dwell in the land” but gentle reminders of what precisely was done twice before to them ala editorials of the prophet from Babylon above should they return to their evil ways. So “return” per se is not an issue as far as Allah is concerned, but rather “returning to wickedness” is a Red Line.
The Sura promises more of the same. And worth noting that Allah’s red lines are not to be confused with ideological organizations’ red lines. Also note that in prior 2 times Allah chastised Israel HE used non-believers, Babylonians for example. So just in case the point is not clear, don’t think being used by Allah for that purposes is indication of your holiness. That would be a presumptuous error ..

Indeed. Are they really just standing about there, leisurely looking out of windows??

abierno | Nov 17 2023 18:03 utc | 75
“Clearly, Israel has slipped the leash from US control and is on a genocidal rampage”
Couldn’t agree more. Israel doesn’t depend on anyone in particular anymore, even the US. It’s certainly helpful to have the support of the tight Jewish circle around Biden (Jeff Zients, Ron Klain, Antony Blinken, Jonathan Finer, Ed Siskel), but they could do without it as well.
Russian or Iranian comments of the sort of “It’s the US that’s behind all this” is just deluded talk to mask their own cowardice, inertia and impotence.
“Either the rest of the world more effectively confronts and contains this belligerent country, invokes the genocide conventions against them or there will be regional warfare which will immediately inflame the entire world.”
Turkey needs to shut up and act. At this point, they’re the only ones who could stop the carnage with non-military measures. All they have to do is interrupt the oil flow to Israel for a week or so, and Netanyahu would have to budge. Sure, that would put the Turkish currency at risk, but that’s where the others could get active. Russia, Iran and various Muslim countries could agree behind the scenes to support the Lira.
THe kind of resistance our “Axis of Resistance” is presenting us in the post Qasem Soleimani world only reminds me of these song lyrics:
“To resist is to piss into the wind. Anyone who does will end up smelling.”

Middle East Eye live feed reports;
International Criminal Court (ICC) Prosecutor Karim Khan announced on Friday that five countries, including South Africa, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Comoros and Djibouti have called for a war crime probe over the situation in Palestinian territories.
The ICC has an ongoing investigation into “the situation in the State of Palestine” for alleged war crimes committed since June 2014, Khan said in a statement.

For the Americans, creating a larger unsinkable aircraft carrier to control the oil. Regardless of US bullshit to the western public, US actions are fully supportive of the land grab. That became very clear to me yesterday when I read about Israel dropping leaflets on south Gaza.
The religious Zionists though are the same as the likes of ISIS, and in that way just a tool of empire that will be used in the same way ISIS was. That became very clear with what RFK said. For some Americans, he was the great US savior before saying that Israel was for the US unsinkable aircraft carrier that allowed the US to control Persian gulf oil.
