What is so hard about writing a comment in a form that might increase your readership? I have to agree with others, the form and size of a comment can determine if I will stop long enough to read it.
In my case, my content was apparently too “judgmental” and too “secular” for some people of faith here at MoA, including some people that I respect and enjoy reading their comments very much. I guess, it is all part of hanging out in a bar with a wide diversity of opinions and ideas.

A very interesting source, including on Balfour and his declaration, is Morris Jastrow’s Zionism and the Future of Palestine: The Fallacies and Dangers of Political Zionism (Macmillan, 1919). It is available online as a pdf:

Jastrow was an academic historian and linguist who specialized in the ancient Near East. But he also wrote a few books on then (and now still) contemporary issues.
Already the Intro makes some interesting points about Jewish religion/nationalism/statehood.
Just a look at the table of contents should pique the interest of most readers of this board.
The text is not searchable, but even the Preface and Intro are pretty thought-provoking. He dives right into the issue of Jews colonization of Palestine and the false claims of “political Zionists.” Later he discusses what Balfour actually meant in the declaration and/but also in later documents, writing:
“The basis of this assurance appears to be largely the statement made by the Right Honorable Arthur J. Balfour, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, under date of November 2nd, 191 7, that the British government ” view with favor the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people, and will use their best endeavors to facilitate the achievement of this object.” The statement means much or little according as one gauges what Mr. Balfour had in mind in making it. It will be noted that Mr. Balfour avoids the term ” Jewish State,” and speaks only of a ” national homeland.” To a ” homeland ” for such Jews as have gone to Palestine or who propose to settle there, there is, of course, no objection; and I emphasize throughout this volume the desirability of encouraging the colonization movement in every possible way as much for the sake of Palestine as for that of the Jews, since the country can only benefit by the presence of a thrifty and industrious population devoted to the improvement of the land and to promoting its industrial and commercial activity. It all depends, therefore, on what is meant by ” national.” Mr. Balfour, it may be admitted, would not have used the term ‘had he not accepted the main contention of political Zionists that the Jews were a separate nation or nationality. Now Mr. Balfour, so far as known, has made no special study of either Jewish history or of the Jewish religion or of the psychology of the Jewish people. His type of mind is, as is well known, essentially skeptical, and he would be apt to view such a question as Zionism from the point of view of diplomatic policy. At all events he would probably be the last one to claim any weight attaching to his opinion of the crucial question, whether the Jews are a nation or merely a religious body that once wets a nation. The ultimate source, therefore, of the introduction of the term ” national ” into Mr. Balfour’s declaration is the platform of the political Zionists. If, therefore, it can be shown, as I propose to do in this volume, that this term cannot properly be applied to the Jews, the declaration would merely have the force attaching to any statement coming from so distinguished a personage as Mr. Balfour. this in fact is scientifically correct, lmao, as anyone who lived in a major city/town of the world can attest to, when during the covid lock-downs etc the skies over almost all cities in the world improved to unseen ‘blueness’ for a short time because of the lack of autos and industrial pollution. all of which has indeed been caused by the major industrial powers of the last 170+ years, particularly the USA and the UK, though now China is the biggest offender/polluter.
so, Tom Collins is correct, both metaphorically and literally. lol

What is a lady? A female that puts on airs and pretensions? My elder daughter at eighteen moths of age, if she was going to cry, she would find the nearest cloth and cry into that, not to cover her face and hide from the world, simply to soak up tears and snot. Many other similar mannerisms and that character she was born with has always stayed with her..
Something similar also comes through in writing/communication styles on the somewhat anonymous internet where we only know somebody by their writing.
It took a while but has made me refrain somewhat from the four letter vocabulary of my youth knowing there are ladies in the bar.

I was on a mustering job one time in my little open cockpit whirly bird and flew into a heavy rain shower. Everything was soaked and I wasn’t getting any replies on the radio. With that job, communication with the ground crew is essential. I was pressing buttons, wriggling connections and using every swear word I knew for about fifteen minutes straight. It finally started operating again and we completed the muster. When I landed, and talked to the ground crew, I realized the problem was my push to talk button had stuck at the on position.
Every radio UHF in the area had been dialed into to channel to listen on the progress of the muster. Kids doing distance ed had it going in the background to listen in while doing school lessons, neighboring stations ect. Talk about embarrassing. I had do a Sargent Shultz “I know nuttink” for awhile.

The real Hamas top is way older and lives in Qatar since long; they are also rich. Shia money to support some Gazan Sunnis is the Iranian Ayatollah’s game. Till recently Mossad was encouraging Qatar to keep on paying them!

Where the hell did all this ahistorical nonsense about Khazars came from? How many times does it need to be stated: the Jews in their great majority are descendants of converts of numerous nations and ethnic groups and this process started long before any freaking Khazars. Arch-Bungle correctly points that there are many more groups that comprise the Jewish people and go beyond the Ashkenazi.
It seems that many folks have a serious difficulty to grasp sociological processes such as that of identity construction. Long before any Khazars showed up in history, during the Hellenistic era, the jewish communities began to accept converts. This development that almost certainly started in Egypt allowed the massive increase of the Jewish communities throughout the eastern Mediterranean, something that simply couldn’t happen through biological increase. Moreover, this wasn’t some great conspiratorial plan.
The Ashkenazi themselves aren’t extra-terrestrials. The communities formed from central and northern European converts would be bolstered by a flow of Jewsih immigrants from the Mediterranean area, mainly Sephardim and Mizrahi. Obviously, after a period the newcomers would adopt most of the customs and traditions of the Ashkenazi hosts. That include the Yiddish language which is a German dialect.
The process was similar though through a different course with the Arabs. The original Muslim conquerors were not significant in numbers to inmundate the entire MENA area. Yet, through Arabization, most Arabs are to be found outside their ancestral homeland. That includes Egypt, the most populous Arab nation.
Goes without saying that the majority of the biological descendants of the ancient Yehudim are the Palestinians.
