Wasn’t Hezbollah’s main reasons to exist initially (and still) to (1) defend the interests of the downtrodden Shia Lebenese and (2) to defend southern Lebanon from Israeli incursion and theft of resources. And they have admirably succeeded in these roles over the past few decades?
They are not set up to be an expeditionary force, attacking outside their area. It seems very unfair and unrealistic to rely on them therefore to be anything other than a northern check against Israeli expansion. Egypt, Turkey, Syria, Jordan, and the Saudis need to be the actual armies that react to an attempted ethnic cleansing of fellow Sunni Moslems and not a rocket-based, defensive organization.

“The present Israeli government — whose the extremist right-wing politics resemble those of the 2014 government — has made no effort to hide its political genocidal contempt for the 2.3 million Palestinians living in Gaza. ..”

After beating the Russians at Borodino Napoleon could have withdrawn to Smolensk , winter there and conquered the Russians in the summer of 1813.
However, it was Napoleon’s hubris , not the victory at Borodino that befell him. He imagined that the Moscow populace, like the how Warsaw populace met his when entered that city, would welcome as a ‘liberator’.

Well, the russians and the chinese have incorporated it in their J-20/SU-57 etc. so they must believe it has at least some effectiviness, wouldn’t they?
As for the russian air base in Syria the US has more and can definitely bring way more planes to the theater than Russia can. Though the scale of the war may well exceed what american forces can accomplish.
The 2003 marches found reflection in Corbynism, Die Linke, Podemos, Syriza and a significant shifting of opinion in Europe. They also confirmed the idea that governments pay no attention to the people, which is in itself an important development.

The anglo (loaded word i know) establishment went through Corbynism like a hot knife through butter, the local populists in my neck of wood have turned out to be a bunch of opportunist know nothings, dunno what the others are up to.
At the end of the day everyone at the top in the West that matters now marches in a lockstep with almost perfect discipline, shared goals/ideology and wielding the most powerful propaganda apparatus in human history. Which is not everything but still a lot.

Balfour, when PM, had the Aliens Act 1905 passed. It was aimed at Jewish immigration to Britain, ie one of its main objectives was to control and restrict Jewish immigration from Eastern Europe.
