The Ministry of Defence stepped up its activity in the area after Moscow began attacking grain infrastructure in July, when it scrapped a deal that allowed Ukraine to export grain from its Black Sea ports.
Grain from the Black Sea region is considered vital for staving off hunger in lower-income countries. Russia said it had pulled out of the deal because Ukraine refused to reopen an ammonia pipeline that runs from central Russia to the Black Sea.

It seems that the HIMARS launchers are a difficult target to hit being too far back from the front to be hit by rapid response artillery and can be moved before they can be targeted by longer range systems. I don’t recall any confirmed hits on the launchers all summer.

The good old law of Unintended Consequences in action. Ukrainian PR thought it was a good idea to quickly pump decent video of the incident out to worldwide MSM but they didn’t give it to anyone to check first. Hence 1) the people looking up at the direction the missile came from 2 seconds before impact, 2) the reflection of the missile in the roofs of two cars. The result being the obvious conclusion that it was an air launched missile, the size and shape of an AGM-88 HARM, from Ukrainian territory.
As interesting is that Konstantinovka seems to be a Russian speaking town, the video recording was available and speedily recovered and Blinken was in town so an anti Russian high impact incident would have been rather useful. Make of it as you will as to whether accident or intentional.

That is probably because it is not, it is tearing itself apart in a desperate attempt to stop Russia, and by extension China, the collective west’s two greatest geopolitical rivals, which together are poised to unravel the entire economic edifice created by and for the anglosphere post WWII. If they’re using the much older tanks as mobile artillery (or a supplement to it) then it’s nothing new and no surprise – both sides have been doing this fire quite some time now in the SMO.
However, if the modernised/modern tanks are being used in this way it’s a sign tank warfare is on it’s way out in peer-near-peer warfare. Indicating they just can’t be used as intended in frontline battles anymore …

The tank used as artillery, has better accuracy (with unguided shells. Both obviously are the same with costly guided shells) penetration, shell velocity, time to target and heavy armour but lesser ammo quantity, shell size and shorter range.
“Artillery-tanks” are used for pin-point strike, faster reaction and and surgical first line suppressive fire, while traditional art is used for mass barrages and suppresing the second line.

No, you completely got it wrong. Theoretically modern tanks’ shells fired from 700m or 3000m are powerful and accurate with negligable difference.
With drones and laser markers hovering all around, why do you need to go to the front if you can equally cause the same amouny of destruction with guidance from digitalized recon and drones?
Tanks are still the same powerful piece, they are just evolving to a whole new form.

Basically tanks can still pin-point kill enemy targets even indirectly- If compined with automatic digitalized computer systems and recon. Just think and videogames where you click on a target amd artillery hits it immediately.
