The leader of the ruling Servant of the People faction, Dawid Arachamia, recently suggested that Ukrainian law enforcement agencies will demand the extradition of men of military age who illegally left Ukraine to escape mobilization.

It doesn’t matter what YOU the people want for the country, or if you don’t think lines on a map are worth defending, or that you don’t think the corrupt oligarchy that runs your country is worth fighting for, or if you just want to live in peace – you’re going to do exactly as your told, you’re going to fight and die because your rulers told you to, and if you STILL refuse, we’ll call you a traitor, throw you in jail, and you’ll rot in a cell instead of on the battlefield.
By some estimates, up to ten million Ukrainians have fled the country, most of them women and children, since all men aged 18-60 were “banned from leaving” during the start of the invasion…so that they could be conscripted and forced to fight and die against their will. According to a poll conducted by Ernst & Young in 2017, experts considered Ukraine to be the ninth-most corrupt nation from 53 surveyed.)
Maybe instead of ensuring that every last Ukrainian man who left the country gets dragged back kicking and screaming to die properly on the battlefield, these law enforcement agencies or whatever could instead just contribute all their manpower to the war effort directly, and let Ukrainians who don’t want to fight live in peace.
At least then there’d be a chance that the culture and history of Ukraine, which they care so deeply about, would survive the russian revisionism they fear so much. As it stands, it seems like they, and the Ukrainian leadership more broadly, WANT every last bit of the country to be annihilated, and all the young (and old apparently) men with it.

Russian Autumn Offensive:
Most expect that the autumn muds that come to Ukraine every year will pretty much stop the advance for either army.
Yet, the Russians may be planning a surprise with their new armored personnel carrier BTR-82UA. This armored personnel carrier could significantly help the Russian forces to advance in muddy conditions.
Most likely, this new Russian weapon will be utilized after the muds form. To what extent it will be used is yet to be determined.

Sending refugees back to a war zone is a no-no, explicitly prohibited by all signatories:

Nevertheless, ideas like the principle of non-refoulement (non-returning of refugees to dangerous countries) (Article 33) are still applied today, with the 1951 Convention being the source of such rights.

Of course, we know that the West is lawless and non-agreement capable. Maybe the UN can send peacekeepers into Poland, Germany, and other EU countries to protect these refugees?
Note that a Ukrainian male who just strolled into Poland and never bothered to declare himself a refugee may not be so legally protected.

This article suggests there may be some kind of court process involved.

Hmmm, doubtful. Note Zelensky’s specific use of the word “illegal” departure. There were two occasions — I forget exactly when — that Kiev proclaimed no male 18-60 may leave the country. Prior to such a date, it was not “illegal” to leave. The well off, non-patriotic cowards and economic seekers would have left early. Those fleeing after those dates, by sneaking or bribing their way out, would have been “next on the conscription list”. They are effectively Ukrainian criminals and may be arrested and forceably returned. They are probably living underground in some obscure EU corner. As a nice reward/revenge, anyone caught and returned will be sent to some battle firebox. The others are free migrants/visitors that Kiev cannot touch. So who knows the true number Zelensky is chasing.

A comprehensive Ukrainian defeat is the only possible outcome of its conflict with Russia

The harsh reality is that neither Ukraine nor its Western allies can sustain the operational losses in manpower and equipment that the conflict with Russia is inflicting. Russia, on the other hand, is not only able to absorb its losses, but increase its strength over time, given the large number of volunteers that are being recruited into the military and the high rate of armament production. At some point in the not-so-distant future, the balance of power between Russia and Ukraine in the theater of operations will reach a point in which Kiev is unable to maintain adequate coverage along the line of contact, allowing gaps to open up in the defensive line which Russia, able to employ fresh reserves, will exploit. This will lead to the collapse of cohesion among Ukrainian troops, more than likely resulting in a precipitous withdrawal to more defensive positions that could be established west of the Dnieper River.
Ukraine, through its actions in 2014, lost Crimea. Ukraine, and through its choices in 2022, lost the Donbass, Zaporozhye, and Kherson. And if Kiev persists in extending this conflict until it is physically unable to defend itself, it runs the risk of losing even more territory, including Odessa and Kharkov.

A country that signs a U.N. treaty agrees to be governed by that particular law, not the laws of the U.S. or certainly not NATO.
That leaves any attempt to take away due process of a refugee recognized as such (by U.N. treaty, not the local laws) by NATO clowns as an illegal act, under the U.N. treaty if done in a signatory country.
Of course, we know that these clowns are more like Hitler’s Gestapo than legalistic rule-followers. They live to break the rules or make them up as they go along.

Re repatriation of Ukies from the EU.
1. I thought refugees had to be broke, homeless and/or persecuted or in danger in their own country. Fleeing conscription is none of that. A middle class Kievan professional with BMW, house or apartment and bank account ain’t no “refugee”. He’d have gotten an EU visa; renewed it after a quick trip or two home, and/or could also run further outside the EU.
2. The only valid refugees, male and female and children, are those from Donbass evacuated towns, in fighting zones. Yep, lots of ethnic Russians not willing to die for Zelensky’s mob. Most of them, some 2 million, went east to RF. Those still in the EU and further (estimated 3 million), mostly Poland and Germany, would be West Ukrainians and Kievans from early SMO days. I’d wager they’ve abandoned Ukraine for good.
So the demographics and numbers of Zelensky’s soldier sweep could be quite small. But I guess he’s gotta catch every martyr/hero to his senseless cause he can find.

Good point, that meeting really stood out to me when it happened. I suspect nothing of value entered the brains of Blinken or Sullivan. But the video is much better and gives the proper contextual framing and a taste of the charged atmosphere created at the very start and the obliviousness of how the US side come across and the delusional undiplomatic aggressive things they are saying. The Ukrainian side has much more men and ammunition, and despite taking large losses, they have yet more men to throw at the Russians, and they are slowly edging forward.
Russia has not been sending enough troops nor adequate support and that is why the war won’t end in Russia’s favor any time soon.

Lmao. The west has said many stupid and false things. As I said, most are economic social climbers, grabbing their chance at becoming European.
2. Russia did NOT make a “full scale invasion of Ukraine”. It initially wandered in with only about 10% (100k) of its potential military force to secure (initially) only two Donbass Objasts eqyal to about 15% of Ukraine. Since then, about 20% of Ukraine is an active front line. It is NOT Russia who has escalated and expanded the fighting. 15 months ago, Kiev was prepared to give Russia their 2 desired oblasts in return for peace. But the west said no. So Putin kicked in some more. Zelensky was warned about that. So Zelensky has NO-ONE to blame for a bigger war than himself. If he and his masters want some more, then so be it.
3. The “whole country” is not at war. So little ammo has been spent beyond the Donbass. Only military targets have been hit in Kiev and Lvov areas.
4. 90% of those departed Westward from Ukraine (purportedly “refugees”) have abandoned their nation because it is a shitbox, run by a nazi clown, controlled by a violent hegemonic master country.
5. It is not ME who wants to send back those “poor refugees” who have been sponging off the richer EU countries for 18 fkn months now. It is Zelensky. My point was that there’s few that he can grab. Write and tell him your concerns, you fkn Bozo.

Seems North Korea is being integrated more tightly to Russia-China alliance. Unknowledgeable layman in the west may be laughing, but a lot in Nato probably aren’t, or shouldn’t be.
They will deliver lot of ammunition in exchange for agricultural products, submarine and other technology.

The whole scenario is a bit odd but Bayraktar‘s floating around begged some form of explanation. The Neptune hit might be true but it’s suspiciously plucky of ukro-tech to bring such PR friendly success. Imported weapons seem much more likely.
Maybe so on the time-fused autocannon shells, it seemed worth posting the footage as an example of how difficult it is to hit drones with standard equipment.
